on a.licent's p.lurality.

i'm& sure many of yall noticed by now that i& have other entities in a.licent's mind, notably the faces of the seven. our& a.licent is p.lural, particularly s.pirigenic (meaning her p.lurality originated through spiritual means, in her case through prayer with an emphasis on religious spirituality) & t.raumagenic (meaning her p.lurality originated from one or more traumatic events, in her case, this being multiple events) in origin (keep in mind that this is NOT the same thing as having d.id, a d.issociative disorder that causes p.lurality that stems from having childhood trauma from a young age & also includes amnesiac barriers & is often comorbid w/ c.ptsd; a.licent would not be qualified to have d.id because her trauma started in her teens). for so long, a.licent had no true friends of her own so her mind developed the faces of the seven. It's possible that a.licent could've i.ntrojected someone she personally knows or knew or a family member she loved, like someone who died in the dance of the dragons. understand that being p.lural does not make a.licent superhuman, but she & her seven will be able to communicate with each other as if telepathically & engage in conversations & the like due to being co-conscious & this will be the main way in which they manifest in threads & interactions. they have a level of intimacy that's beautiful & special, as they share a brain, a body & a life, they are full beings that share a body & have their own i.nnerworld that is largely based on oldtown & the hightower where she was raised with hints of the godswood of king's landing where she'd once felt safest with her childhood best friends r.haenyra targaryen & l.aena v.elaryon. they cannot manifest outside of her body unless if a.licent projects them outside of herself with enough focus as if they were actually physically present but they cannot be made visible to others nor can they interact with the physical world except through switching. it's entirely possible that if you portray one of a.licent's children that they may have memories of a.licent seeming... off, almost acting as someone else (because that entity is fronting, which means controlling her body) while she's raising them. your character would not know that a.licent is p.lural unless if your character has a shockingly good eye & knows her well & even then there's no language in the known world for what she's experiencing. this does not effect the major plot but it is an important part about our& portrayal of her, so be respectful. a.licent is rarely alone inside her mind & her seven may help support her emotionally, provide an ear & shoulder in hard times while being close by & often know her more than she knows herself in a way that no one else outside of her can. they have different appearances, interests, talents, motivations, wants, needs, ideas, worldviews, histories, opinions, and relationships who just happen to share her head, her body & her life & may have different values & ideologies than their c.ore/h.ost in a.licent, & can examine a problem from different angles or doing a task, & offer different suggestions, opinions, criticisms & shed light on viewpoints that a.licent would not have otherwise considered, may or may not always agree with her, do what a.licent wants them to do or even approve of the things a.licent does. her seven may also have relationships of any kind outside of themselves & the c.ore, a.licent herself. she additionally has b.pd due to her trauma (& it's very likely that her children & thus her descendants can inherit this from her alongside their own trauma growing up).

i was talkin to ashe / @drcrysz &. when aemond was freshly maimed, vhagar's like "back the FUCK up thats my baby boo" & she would deadass be like that jurassic park trex looking through the window bc vhagar would check up on aemond her lil future war criminal every 5 minutes & alicent is like scared shitless & SHOOKETH. her bigass snout exhaling smoke & making the windows steam, she growls, hisses & snaps at viserys. alicent watches this gigantic terrifying war dragon takes care of her son & coo at him while he like. stumbles around & trying to get used to his environment bc he's half blind now & i'd imagine it takes a bit for him to get used to it. vhagar using her tail and gentle snout boops to guide him. the first thing aemond does when he's feeling better is racing with aegon & sunfyre on vhagar.

Alicent Hightower : Sins and Reprieve

I have seen lots of interpretations on Alicent's actions in the last episode and the most popular ones are pretty disappointing. So I will try to breakdown her thought process in this post :

Alicent's first scene begins with her breaking down into tears over the pain and suffereing that Helaena's been through. Then she blames herself and says that she was being punished for her sins. This part is important and acts as a layer in all of her actions in this episode.

Throughout the episode we see Alicent clutching her sides and walking around, touching her neck repeatedly. One of this is when Aegon questions Criston's failure to protect his family. The guilt and culpability she feels about B&C is suffocating her inside. She leaves all the decisions to Otto, and goes through with them trying to do her duty because she doesn't think she has any right to fix this on her own.

In the scene with Criston, she asks "have you (Criston) told anyone?" and we know that Alicent herself tried to tell her father and then Helaena. I believe that when Alicent tells him that he is "one who seeks absolution", it is both an understanding of their situation and also an admission of her own desire for absolution. Then Criston says what she's afraid to hear : there is no absolution for this, which is why I believe she tried to drown herself, as self punishment.

Later she once again tries to confess to Otto who doesn't want to hear about it. Then she goes to Aegon and she couldn't offer him what she doesn't have. She feels his pain, it's written all over her face. But she never knew how to console him, there's also the added layer of blaming herself for his suffering and she walks away.

I know many are tired of Alicole scenes, but this one is actually important. She goes to her room and Cristion was already there. She is an emotional mess built up with the inability to help her own kids, guilt over her sins and she takes all of that out on him. He accepts it because he feels that he deserved it. But their dynamic shifts. We see Criston taking control for the first time. They give into the toxic mess because neither could find the absolution they wanted and this is their only coping mechanism. The whole episode we see all the family coping through grief in their own way and this is Alicent's way, it's a mix of both relief and punishment for her.

Alicent is such a layered and interesting character in my opinion. Even when they give her almost nothing, there is still so much to unpack, all thanks to Olivia Cooke just devouring with all the micro expressions in every scene. Alicent and Criston Cole danced in silence, trapped in a web of assumptions and self-loathing. Alicent believed Criston sought her body to stay loyal, while Criston believed offering his body and breaking his vows were the ultimate service to his queen. Neither could see the other’s torment. Each touch, each glance filled them with revulsion—not for the other, but for themselves.
