From Person to Publicist: The Evolution of Celebrity and Image
The layperson’s first brush with everyday perfection came in the ’90s when the daughters of New York City’s richest power players decided to make their life consumable to the average person. Rather than hiding inside of mansions like the millionaires of yore, these women—such as Paris Hilton, Casey Johnson, and Olivia Palermo—were seen both at red carpet events and blackout drunk at nightclubs.…

OATHBOUND SPOILERS
I'M NOT KIDDING. I NEED TO GET OUT MY THOUGHTS SO THIS IS SERIOUS SPOILER TERRITORY. READ WITH CAUTION.
yeah, so Oathbound was... insane. and absolutely fucking incredible. Tracy somehow managed to exceed my very high expectations and left me wanting for the fourth book as quick as possible.
for one. literally the prologue made me cry. when Bree woke up without anyone left in her mind??? i was just devastated. i genuinely can't think of a much worse fate than to suddenly just lose the memory of the people you love.
and then suddenly we get a William pov. guys i SCREAMED when I saw we were getting that. William is legitimately one of my favorite characters and a whole fucking pov from him??? i could not have asked for more. i do wish we got more of his pov towards the end, but like, this book is already 640 pages so i get it. him and Lark are such a duo too. they spent basically this entire book together and i loved the conflict between them but also the very clear attraction. "and if Larkin Douglas happens to be the most alluring cambion i've ever met, well, that might just be due to our proximity." William. babe. and when Lark called William sweetheart??? i LOST it.
the Mariah pov took me utterly off guard. i could never have guessed we'd get to see her side but i LOVED it. her and Valec's relationship is the sweetest. Valec clearly cares for her so much and their family is just really sweet in general. i'm still so nervous for Alice and so so sad that she still isn't awake. that's a death that would hurt me. but Mariah honestly pulled through in so many ways this book and it was so good to see more of her. also my girl is POWERFUL. i knew when she put the heart on that some shit would go down, but DAMN. my girl held back Mikael himself. fucking POWERHOUSE.
i wasn't super shocked at the Natasia pov but it was so interesting. it was very interesting to see her as a mother above all else and how much love and guilt she feels towards Sel. she was also... not the personality i was expecting? i guess i thought she'd be more like Sel? i'm not really sure tbh. but i was just WAITING for her to find out that Bree was the real Scion of Arthur and it did not disappoint. i really want her and Faye's relationship to be expanded on. and, of course, more of her with Erebus and Sel.
speaking of Sel... well, i'm actually gonna wait till the end for him
Nick Davis again proved himself to be literally one of the best characters. dude... he's just so good. like he's so smart and so protective and just so so kind and loving the entire time. he's also an impulsive idiot with a savior complex, but it's neither here nor there. i had no idea what his game was for the curia and i fear he played everyone. i was also SO glad William and Lark both stepped up to join him. but my boy is just so impulsive and the thing with the Morgaines was, uh, not his best move, i gotta say. also his power. my god, he is immensely powerful. and it's so interesting to watch it play out. His ability to literally unwind aether is, like, insane. it's so interesting that Lancelot and Arthur had their own oath built in, binding Nick and Bree together even more. speaking of, i had thoroughly missed him and Bree's relationship in Bloodmarked and this book did NOT disappoint. when I realized that Bree and Zoe, Mariah, and Nick were all going to end up at Penumbra, I was on the edge of my fucking seat. i immediately knew that he was the other thief and when he finally realized it was Bree i almost cried. especially because he just immediately understood her loss. Erebus had held over Bree's head the threat that people would be angry that she'd forgotten them, but Nick just understood immediately. and he was just so good to her. the playing at fiancés thing was hilarious and Tracy gave us the one bed trope!!! one of my favorites!!!! the tension between then was so thick and i was just waiting for it to come to a head. and my god did it not disappoint. this definitely ended up being the steamiest of her books (nothing explicit but still steamy). then, of course, you can't really not mention the communions and Nick's confessions. his unending love for Bree is just so beautiful. he even knew about Bree and Sel for the most part and just still was never angry at her. the fucking shadow crown piece in his chest was dumb as hell, but he did still looking out for Bree and I just can't fault my guy for that.
Bree... my beautiful, powerful Bree. so much of her story is just so tragic but my girl just kept pulling through. i think it was Valec that said that so many people with fractured souls are led astray from their path, and yet Bree continued on. she continued to fight for the people she loved, even when she didn't remember them. she is so good and lovely and such a character. also i LOVED her with the twins. we obviously saw a lot more of Zoe than Elijah, but i really loved their relationship development. Bree and Zoe's relationship was so sweet and they cared so much for each other. (also Zoe is a trans femme cambion??? like slay???) their humanity really shown through above all else, and Zoe's care for Bree and the rootcrafters was so sweet. i really hope we see them again in the next book. i'm not ready to let them go. and Bree, in the words of Valec, is a fucking powerhouse. when she first made that barrier around her with Erebus, i knew we were entering a different level of power. she leveled up so hard. it was incredible watching gain power and when she fucking broke down Erebus' ward??? incredible. not to mention literally fucking chaining Daeza, like damn. she had some intense character development in this book and really came into herself. and as much as the loss of memory hurt me... i also know that Bree developed so much because of it. watching her just not know anyone was so painful for me though. speaking of, her reunion with her dad? i literally burst into tears. honestly, her reaction made me really miss my dad (i haven't seen him in a couple months). also her continued relationship with the rootcrafters was also incredibly important to me and i'm so glad that they had such a heavy play in this. they are also clearly a very important part of this story and i'm so glad that this continues to be acknowledged and used. i also did not see souls coming into play with this. the shattering of her soul, Valec's less than pleasant reaction, the scar tissue, the missing piece... god, there was just so many layers.
the end of this book was intense. like super duper intense. the confrontation with Erebus. the end of their bargain. and their entrapment of the fucking Shadow King (shout out to my girl Mariah, again pulling through). Bree basically forcibly getting back her missing piece of soul and the memories returning. Erebus crawling away like a baby. dude got fucked up.
and this, of course, brings me to Sel. oh, my boy, i mourn for him so much. i miss the character we had in Bloodmarked with ever inch of my being. this is not how i thought we would see his character go. i just assumed that we'd get him back from his demonia and god. his character was so interesting but so painful because of the loss of the Sel we know and love. and we just... never got him back. when i saw the line "...because Selwyn Kane is dead" i honestly almost had a mental breakdown. i sobbed so hard and couldn't believe it... and then, of course, he wasn't dead. but the Shadow King's son. and now the heir of Bree's bloodmark.... damnnnnn, i did not see that coming at all. granted, i did have my suspicions about the relationship between Erebus and Natasia. i kinda figured it was more. but i guess i never expected for that to mean that Sel was his son. which means that Sel is has much more demon blood than anyone expected. which changes so much. god.
i haven't given up on him. nor have i given up on the Sel-Bree-Nick relationship. there were still hints throughout, of Sel and Nick's relationship, of Bree and Sel's. i really want to have faith that the Sel we knew can return. but i honestly fear that we've lost him completely now because of his claim on the shadow crown.
this book was everything i could have wanted and more. i laughed and cried and was literally so stressed out for so much of it but i'm 100% going to be rereading it again soon to absorb more of it. and Tracy... not to like pressure you, but PLEASE, i am BEGGING for the fourth book to come out quickly. i'm not sure i'll survive another two years without more answers.
⚔️💙💜❤️⚔️

thoughts and prayers on oathbound
[spoilers for legendborn, bloodmarked and oathbound, read at your own caution ;)]
this has been marinating for so long, but i was gathering my thoughts and also waiting that everybody would've blocked the spoiler tag by now. let's begin, shall we??
first things first, character wise;
bree- i love her. the whole journey was so fucking powerful and healing like woahhh she finally got control of her powers and that broken soul like can you imagine having a part of your soul just taken away from you, like valec said many broken souls never get formed back but bree?? she was missing so so much about herself and still didn't lose herself like that's why she's the best idc what anybody says she is so so strong and fearless and now ruthless, i love her!!
nick- this is one clever mf like damn bro had uno reverses for his uno reverses, and I'm glad we got to know more about what's in his head. one think i will say he became perfect to more perfect, not necessarily a bad thing but i really really wanna know what was he doing in those time when he was on the run alone like what were you doing buddy. we learned so much about him but at the same time so many questions too like he developed well. and his charisma stat just went up 9 points for me lool keep treating bree the way she deserves my boy.
sel- this idiot. absolute moron. he's gonna be the death of me what was that?? i went in thinking oh my lil patootie he's now a demon I'm gonna relieve my monsterfucker days uwu, this fucker scared me so bad?? what the actual fuck was that?? “Briana is mine. My Scion. My sovereign. My king.” what the fuck. so terrifying. so butterfly-worthy. so so possessive. he had less scenes but every scene filled me with terror wtff is he doing. the whistling?? the taunts?? the slow walk?? the threats?? his grin?? everytime he was mentioned i was so scared its not even a joke. what the fuck was that.
william- oh my sweet summer child. he was so so good. and the parallels omg?? the way he spat back at the regents?? just a few weeks ago he was the one who stopped bree from saying shit like that, and yes the situations and implications were different but oh boy did i love it. it was so dope. and he is so so clever and brave and just my sweetest scion of gawain like oh buddy lemme worship you.
lark- bro popped off i swear. he had the worst first day as a kingsmage and he still was so so concerned and scared in already bonded to bree in spirit, although ik he wont be allowed to be bonded because yk sel exists and sel would kill him is an understatement, but oh i lark as a kingsmage would be awesome. and the way he noticed william so much like broooooooo i love you and him being so fiercely protective of our boy like oof i live for it.
mariah- i fear she ate. she shined so bright in this book, she is so powerful?? and her inspo is bree we're the same gurll. she had the heart of the dame for like three days and she not only got used to it but also managed to hold out a whole horde of warlocks and arawn too like damn girlie this is the kinda female empowerment i love. and goshh her support and love and care like haaayeee my heartttt.
zoelle- she grew on me ngl. i already wanted them to have a sweet sweet friendship and she did not disappoint. she is so clever?? and the subtle trans rep?? and so so supportive of bree like gurl i love you. she is us frrr. and the way she defended bree about her lashing at vera?? like yes. was it rude?? yeah. should bree be dragged about it every fucking time?? hell no. i love her so much she is so so sweet.
elijah- i recently learned the correct pronunciation of his name so my bad buddy but yes i love him too. his growing trust and respect towards bree is admirable, and the love for his sister?? bro you are the epitome of sibling relationships. i want them to come back soon. sel will be handled by bree or if he lays a finger on them imma riot. shoutout to elijah and zoelle, gotta be my favorite twins frr.
alice- my heart breaks for her so much. her purgatory stasis?? her constant efforts to amend her "failure" which wasn't even your fault babe its that damn arthur bitch. i want her to come back pleaseeee ik bree chose her soul over her but i have full faith in bree and slice ik they will make it back please tracy don't kill her it will break bree and me in extension please alice deserves to see her bestie be the king pleaseee.
valec- we found a lot about him, like maybe not a lot but enough to make a lot of theories but brooooo his admiration and care and concern and trust for bree was so heartwarming i cried like really i did it was so sweet. like that is elder brother valec yall like comonn i need that elder brother in my life too pleaseee he's such a sweetie.
natasia- she was not like what i expected lmaoooo i thought she was more moody and edgy and emo but nooo she's so sweet?? and she didn't know shit lmaooo. she and sel have so much angst and i have no idea how are they gonna get over it. like her reasons to not reach out to him were justified imo, she was threatened that next time it would be sel whose hands will be ripped off so like the motherly love would never ever let her get back to him ofc. but still her knowledge seemed so... little. i feel like she spent all her time uncovering her demonia situation and took everything else at face value. i don't blame her but like someone give her a crash course 101 please. also i want her and bree to sit and have a long long chat she knew faye so so much i want bree to know everything.
these are the main ones ig?? now my thoughts??
sel is arawn's son. i feel like we all knew that but i kinda lost hope on it for like majority of the book yk, like only during the last chapter we get this bomb dropped and yall that was sick. the death?? the transformation?? the font change?? "what...shall...we...do" wthh bro chill.
we got so much willark!! they got so much time together!! i wanna see it go more william deserves that sweet corner and i want him to have a lil rest while bree catches them all up with the recent events.
natasia and edwin duo is so funny lmaoooo i want these awkward parents to kinda adopt all of them haha. and i want more of edwin's speeches i wanna frame every prep talk he gives can i please have him as my father too please adopt me sir.
imo poly is now more confirmed kind of because we saw so much breenick but at the same time he did delete all the cheating allegations and his feelings about breesel too so like yeah. poly could be endgame and I'm not even complaining lool their happiness is with each other.
I'm still pretty much breesel but breenick gave me so many butterflies yall I'm not even kidding. the fight?? the kiss?? the putting on her heels?? he banter?? the flirting?? "so drown"?? i be screaming and kicking my feet in the air frrr.
i want more of valec and zoelle-elijah because i feel like they will be more at ease together and we will see a demonic family situation haha. also, them collectively teasing bree on her boy drama, epic!!
arawn is a piece of shit but what a clever fucking piece of shit so fucking manipulative. i am still confused about him never trying to know sel, or arawn and natasia's relationship. nat thinks he is erebus, so we have a deception. but what does arawn gain from it?? so many questions opened up.
i haven't had much time to read about arthuriana so i was kinda relieved we didn't see much of it but we did get one mention of scion of mordred dabbling in demon experiments and now I'm curious do we have another mole in the order from mordred's side??
nick and ava definitely had something. it pissed me off so bad wdym "seduced me" wth was that greer and William are like me frrr glad to know I'm not the only one trynna read between the lines but yeah what the fuck was that i hated it.
ig this is it?? i might have more thoughts which i still have to organise but this is from the top of my head so it might be all over the place.
in conclusion, i loved oathbound and i can't wait for the next and final book I'm so excited but so sad like its coming to an end?? just like this?? why so soon?? i don't want this to end but i want bree to be happy and safe above everything so yeah, i could get through this.
this was so long lmaooo but okay peace out!!

WHAT THE FUCK.
1. I don't even know what OT3 stands for but I know that I ship it with my entire being
2. The way Tracy deonn writes about the realistic oppression and cruelty of white dominated organizations is absolutely heartbreakingly accurate and so important and more people need to read Legendborn!!!!!!!!
3. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW WTFFFF
4. Should I compile all of my bookmarked OT3 breeselnick quotes into a giant post???
5. THE PLOT TWIST AT THE END OF OATHBOUND HAS ME GAGGGGGGED
6. I haven't seen a ship name for them yet, so I know dub it Willarkin <3 need them to kiss in the next book
7. I need my girl Alice back in the next book too 💔
8. Not enough of our grumpy wizard Sel but I'm so excited to see where his character goes next 👀
9. Tracy's playlists gave me lifeeeeee TRACY! DROP A PLAYLIST FOR OATHBOUND AND MY LIFE IS YOURSSSS

TOM GLYNN-CARNEY TALKING ABOUT EPISODE 1 & 2 OF 'HOUSE OF THE DRAGON' S2 FOR DECIDER MAGAZINE.
DID TOM GLYNN-CARNEY INTEND TO MAKE AEGON SO HILARIOUS?
“Well, look, I find him quite manic.”
“And I think, rather than playing humor — which is always a terrible idea because it always ends up not being funny when you play humor — I want to sort of bring this sort of frantic energy of him and kind of the nonchalance of his approach to being king these days.”
“I think it’s important to find levity at the beginning of something. You know, we’ve got to give him somewhere to go. And I genuinely think he is quite funny.”
TALKING ABOUT THE DEATH OF JAEHAERYS AND HIS CHARACTER IN THE NEXT EPISODES.
“The loss of Jaehaerys is huge. It’s momentous and it’s one of those things that just stains. It affects you on an atomic level now. It’s something you don’t ever fully digest and make sense of and kind of shake off.”
“So, yeah, it informs a lot of his decisions going forward.”
“I always had it in my head that he was kind of rebuilding the person he would have wanted to be through him.”
“I think he saw in Jaehaerys a part of himself.”
The actor explained that Aegon wanted to give Jaehaerys the “love and attention” that perhaps his parents didn’t.
“He saw elements of himself in [Jaehaerys] and it was a kind of a new start for him in a way. And now it’s been snatched from him.”
Without Jaehaerys, Aegon leans into his worst impulses. Aegon accelerates war plans, hanging every ratcatcher in the Red Keep in the hopes of nailing the one who abetted Jaehaerys’s death and firing his cautious grandfather Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) as Hand. Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) will now be Hand, ensuring more blood will be spilled.
Nevertheless, Tom Glynn-Carney’s descent into Aegon’s dark state of mind is never without a hint of humanity.
You understand that it’s grief propelling these choices. Grief for Jaehaerys, Aegon’s son and heir, grief for the “good” king Aegon could have been, and grief for the way his family has failed him.
TALKING ABOUT THE SCENE OF ALICENT FINDS AEGON CRYING BY THE FIRE AND INSTEAD OF COMFORTING HER SON, ALICENT WORDLESSLY LEAVES HIM.
“There’s a great poem: ‘They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do.’ It goes on with it. But, yeah, it reminds me of that,” Glynn-Carney said, quoting Philip Larkin’s “This Be the Verse.”
It’s a poem that, like George R.R. Martin’s books, bemoans how, “Man hands on misery to man.”
Trauma begets more trauma, a theme House of the Dragon‘s interpersonal drama is excavating this season.

Oathbound Spoilers Under the Cut
I made a post the other day briefly summing up my feelings about one Mr. Larkin Douglas — for anyone who didn't see it, I'm not particularly fond of him. I'm just saying this up here so that anyone who really does love him knows, I'm about to get into that. I very well might bash him a little (WITH textual evidence, I'm not just saying things willy nilly). Read on at your own risk!
(Tagging @barinemiologist who made me want to make this longer post!)
~~~
I also just want to clarify, none of this is going to be a critique of Tracy as a writer! I don't think it's possible for her to write a bad character. It's more about the way he's being used in the story, which I'll get into more later.
Okay, so, these thoughts have generally been bouncing around in my head since I read the book, and I'd really love to know if anyone else felt this way while they read. I'm going to be jumping around a lot, so bear with me:
As barinemiologist pointed out in their comment on my original post, I actually didn't mind Lark that much in Bloodmarked! Maybe it was just because we weren't seeing very much of him, but I was intrigued by him. He seemed to have an interesting personality that I was looking forward to seeing more of. But in Oathbound he just irritated me so much??
Let's just start with Lark in relation to William. The way he treats William really rubs me the wrong way. I understand the intentions behind the way he is, and in theory they are good intentions, but I feel like he could execute them MUCH better.
The scene in part 1 where William meets Valec, Mariah, and Lu to talk about Alice has a couple of the moments that made me go like 😬. Like this bit:
It sort of comes off as Lark feeling like he has some entitlement to what William is doing? Plus, he's very quick to jump to being accusatory, even when William has a perfectly good reason for not telling him. Which happens again a little later in the same scene:
That last line feels CRAZY to me. William is actively in the middle of explaining himself (which he shouldn't need to do in the first place, because it's perfectly reasonable for him to not involve Lark in everything he does, especially something like that which Lark wasn't even part of to begin with), but Lark is just NOT hearing him. He's accusing William of not trusting him because of this, which is a real overreaction.
And this scene isn't the only time he has an overreaction to something. Going back to the beginning of the book, there's this exchange between Lark and Nick:
It's made very clear in the narration that Nick isn't being aggressive (at least not until the very end), but Lark jumps right to anger. And sure, Nick is being a little critical of him, but he's definitely not insulting him as Lark says he is. It just really isn't a proportionate response to what was said.
Another example of Lark's interactions with William that made me raise an eyebrow comes a little bit later, after William, Lark, and Nick have left on the quest:
This exchange is so bizarre. It's not as bad as some of the other things on my list here, but it still just set off a little alarm in my mind. Something about the way he says "why I'm still allowing you to" just hits the ear wrong. Like, of course William is putting himself in harm's way, that's all the Legendborn do. You can't DISALLOW him from doing his job, there are plenty of parts of being in the Order and the Order as a whole that he doesn't like but he takes PRIDE in his ability to help and heal his friends. It's like, the most important thing to him. Not being able to do anything to help them makes him crazy. And I know that the stress that comes from any time he can't do it is part of Lark's argument, which I'll get to later, so just put a pin in it for now.
For the time being, let's rewind just a little bit to earlier in this same scene:
I've got a slightly different point with this one, which kind of leads into my next point too. I really don't like the way Lark is like, undermining William's trust in Nick? He's known Nick for YEARS, they're very very close friends, they trust each other with their lives. But apparently that's not good enough for Larkin Douglas?? It feels super weird. And this sort of ties back to what I was saying before, about Lark acting like he's entitled to know everything that everyone is doing at all times. I get his concern, but you'd think that with how much he seems to care about William (and how insistent he is that William trusts him), he would trust William a little more when William says he trusts Nick.
Now, for the next point that sort of connects to that one, we're going to go rapid fire on a couple of snippets from the book that all support the same argument:
What I'm trying to point out with all of those is just how often Lark DOUBTS people. Even though he says in that last one that he isn't really doubting, I still don't see what reason he had to say that. It's like he takes every opportunity he finds to play devil's advocate and be discouraging. I know that that could come from his own anxieties and self doubts, but that's never even really implied, so I can't give him the benefit of the doubt with this one (pun slightly intended). When he says stuff like that, it only does harm, and I just can't get behind it.
Remember how I mentioned a couple things throughout this that I said I'd get to later? Well, later is now. Take those pins back out.
Firstly, let's talk about what I said before about the things that I can see being justified in Lark's behavior. Like, for example, how he encourages William to take care of himself. That's good! And I agree that William definitely should be more concerned with his own well-being. But I have two issues with it: a) a lot of the time, his way of caring just comes off as overbearing. Lark needs to understand that there's a fine line between wanting William to take care of himself, and obstructing his ability to do his job, and he gets really close to crossing that line a lot of the time.
And b) there just isn't enough history between them for Lark to be acting the way he does. There could be something I'm forgetting, of course, but their whole dynamic (even starting from Bloodmarked) reads as co-workers who are somewhat interested in each other, not as two people who have the level of closeness that would justify Lark acting like that. His behavior reads like he thinks he knows William better than anyone, which just isn't true. That's a big part of why he reads so strangely to me.
If you recall, the other thing I asked you to save for later was about how Lark is being used in the story. What I mean by that is, the whole time I was reading, I thought that all of the negative behavior and undermining being perpetrated by Lark was going to lead up to him betraying them somehow. Obviously there's still one more book on the way, so there's a chance that might still happen, but I'm just not sure. What I will say, though, is that having something like that happen would probably save his character for me. I just don't think he's a good love interest for William. So to shift him from the role of a love interest to a twist traitor would make all of this make SO much more sense to me. I haven't seen anyone else sharing that opinion, who knows if anyone agrees with me, but that's my take on this whole thing.
TLDR, my point is that I don't think Lark's character is poorly written. He just really doesn't work for me as a likeable love interest with the way he acts, and I'm hoping that book 4 will fix that one way or another.
Please let me know what you think in the comments/reblogs/tags! Whether you agree with me and don't really like him, or you disagree and do like him, I'd like to hear your takes.
What I hope we get from book 3 of Legendborn:
More Nick and Breenick content: From the main cast of characters Nick is the one we know the least about so I really hope that there is going to be some insight into his character. Also, Bree and Nick had so little scenes in Bloodmarked😭
I really liked the balcony chapter when Sel and Nick talked in Welsh to each other, so I hope we get more scenes with them talking in Welsh. Tbh I just want more moments in which two or more characters hold conversations in Welsh. (I'm a language freak and currently obssesed with Welsh, so yeah)
More Lark and him and William becoming boyfriends: Lark is an absolute sweetheart and he seems to be quite underappreciated by the fandom.
Nick and Alice friendship: I think they would get along really well. If there are actually going to be Nick pov chapters, I hope him, Alice, Lark and Will become a friend group (similar to what we got in Bloodmaked with Bree, Alice, Will and Sel).
I hope we (and also Bree) actually get to know the other scions and that Bree reunites the Round Table. Also, I want to know what the scion of Kay's abilities are.
What actually happened in Arthur's and the knights' time.
More information about Rootcraft.
And, of course, more information about the Morgaines. Also, I remember I've seen an interesting theory about Nick and the Morgaines and if it turns out to be true... well that would be really cool.
#i was so disappointed with bloodmarked#i thought we would be getting bree and co searching for nick and her trying to get all of the scions together and discovering her powers et#anyway while legendborn was too fast paced and had a lot of information crammed in#bloodmarked suffered from the opposite imo#i hope tracy deonn actually finds the balance with oathbound#legendborn#oathbound#bree matthews#nick davis#breenick#selwyn kane#william sitterson#alice chen#larkin douglas
thoughts and opinions on bree's birthday gifts!!!!
[spoilers for legendborn and bloodmarked, read at your own caution ;)] it's been long since i got to do long ass posts hehe i'm back in the game yall
first of all, happy birthday bree!!!! (real footage of me making cakes)
starting off strong with alice chen;
that's so cute?? and two gifts!! bree gonna keep that gift card close to her heart!! like common we all know they are book besties like awwieee so cuteee!! and tickets to eras tour?? keep up with the spoiling your bestie i love you alice!!
then we have edwin matthews;
this is so him tho, ofc he's gonna take care of his lil girl for the winters. that winter coat is gonna be very handy on the run. and bless his soul i hope he doesn't have to find out what the battle is-
our golden boy, nicholas martin davis;
that is so thoughtful tho?? and it's so cute he had it handmade like damn dude, and with her initials too. and what did you say about late-night sword training sessions you mean they trained whennnnnn we have been robbed????
our favorite sorcerer, selwyn emyrs kane;
the coupon?? that is so fucking hilarious, imagine selwyn drawing that coupon and smiling to himself like "ahh the perfect joke" comon this is so cute and i bet bree loved it. and the rose?? got me giggling and shit like dude i had headcanoned something like this as like a ring during bree's college trips but comon a rose is so much better?? ahhhhhhhh I'm in looooooveee say what you want this is so cute mann (and the rose kinda reminded me of the rose in tracy's insta story?? is this something or am i too obsessed??)
our rootcrafting companion, mariah;
lmaoo she is not wrong about the reasons tho. bree definitely needs that spa day. maybe add in a braiding session too. she needs those curls fresh and on for the newest adventure.
the cutest legendborn!! greer taylor;
oh my gosh that is so cool bree in training gear yalls I'm so pumped for bree's 1v1 fights with anyone honestly like my oh my!! good job greer!!
our deadliest softboy, william sitterson;
william is a tea guy for sure, ofc his birthday treat is at a teahouse!! spending the day enjoying william's favorite tea and maybe a lil bit of teasing on both sides?? what will be the treats tho him baking his favorite biscuits or a luncheon with his king, i say bothhh
now there are a two people that i really wanted to see;
larkin douglas; yes he hasn't been around in bloodmarked too but comon even he would know sometime from William hehe about bree's birthday what would he gift her?? he did gift her those leather gauntlets, an updraged version of them?? metal gauntlets?? now if bree has her powers in control ofc she doesn't need the gauntlets but it could be a gesture of trust, for the old days sake
valec; like comon i do think he'd just give her a chocolate or a life advice and move on, but given that he has taken a liking to her and has become very protective (as his baby sister okay guys he's not in love) he might offer something else. his knowledge maybe, he has been around for 200 years you bet he has a lot to tell. or like he could answer three questions she wants the answers to, we all know our bree is best at questioning everything.
my thoughts??
can the order of how the people are placed have any correspondence to how events have passed or any foreshadowing to what could happen?? because i am the type of person who likes to order things like that; so if this is foreshadowing, because for the past events we need to put sel after alice and all that yk, does this mean we are going to start oathbound with a different pov?? because alice and edwin are shown first so it is possible oathbound can start from the new pov (either nick or selwyn)
nick giving bree a scabbard, foreshadowing?? i still have to read on arthuriana more, so i can't say for sure but please enlighten me is this related to the legend. all i know is that excalibur's scabbard was gone which is why arthur fell in camlamn. so that means nick giving bree could potentially symbolize him protecting her?? but from what?? selwyn?? shadow king?? who??
also, from the whole order apart from the found family, only greer is mentioned. now i was assuming that sarah will be in charge now after tor has been "betrayed" aka kicked out of gc. so if greer is mentioned does this mean greer will be in charge?? but aren't they kinda young in the whole order, like young as in new?? and if they are in charge, then what will sarah do because by the order of lines sarah should be after tor, right??
and if this order of names thing is correct, we will be seeing mariah yayy but William is last, so is this for the whole book or like the first half?? because there's no valec no lark (my babies i wanted to see themmm??)
or maybe im just reading too much into this
#i am so happy tho#keep dropping crumbs for us tracy#just five momnths more and oathbound will be here#im scared and excited#the legendborn cycle#legendborn#bloodmarked#oathbound#tracy deonn#legendborn cycle#briana matthews#bree matthews#team bree#selwyn kane#selwyn emrys kane#team sel#alice chen#william sitterson#nick davis#greer taylor#valechaz#larkin douglas
I did fanart of these three, because I've never seen Lark or Mariah fanart, and Alice is just a fun character.
