Just learned that Neil Gaiman has written the comic book "The Last Temptation" and Alice Cooper is in it as the Showman.

It follows our boy Steven (Welcome to my Nightmare) who is afraid of many things when the mysterious Showman of the Theatre of the Real offers to take away his fear in exchange for living forever in a otherworldly realm of spirits and wraiths. Steven needs to make a choice: Accept the deal and be free of his fears or stay like this.

The albums (Acts I-V) that tell his story fucking slap.” “Hunter is so obscure that not even he knows who he is. He was raised by his mother, who is a prostitute. He steals his half brother's identity after meeting him in WW1 and killing their father. In the rest of the concept albums (2 albums out of 5) Hunter struggles to get a hold on his identity, which he has lost. One of his songs is titled "Who Am I" for god's sake.”

*most notably the albums Welcome to My Nightmare (1975) and Welcome 2 My Nightmare (2011), the 1975 TV special The Nightmare with Vincent Price, and the 2000 Neil Gaiman graphic novel "The Last Temptation" A lot can be interpreted about Steven and a LOT depends on which version of him is being interpreted. Ultimately, he's a little boy (or an age-regressing adult) who has nightmares of increasing severity and maturity. He kills his abusive father in the song When Hell Comes Home. Some people will interpret Steven as the main character and um. murderer. from Along Came a Spider (2008), but some don't. Given that he's not strictly a movie or book or game character and is instead mostly portrayed through music, he's much less defined than other characters in this event might be. Also this character involved Vincent Price putting Alice Cooper on a leash and I think this counts as propaganda.

Alice Cooper paid tribute to Chris Cornell looking back on their 1994 colaboration and saying that the Soundgarden frontman “had the best voice in rock n’rolll”.

Cornell and Cooper worked together on the Cooper’s album “The Last Temptation” in 94. The two co-wrote the songs “Stolen Prayer” and “Unholy War”, with Cornell providing vocals on each.

In his statement, Cooper said Cornell was dubbed “The Voice” .

When your best friend drags you into his plan to woo his dream girl, the last thing you expect is to fall for her yourself. Matilda "Tilly" never really intended to fall in love but when her best friend Teddy asks her to help him woo his dream girl, aspiring actress Katherine Cooper-Bunting, Tilly finds herself falling for Katherine. Tilly knows Katherine is off-limits because Teddy is in love with her... yet the more time Tilly spends helping Teddy with the play that Katherine is in the more she finds herself being drawn to Katherine... and the fact that Katherine herself is interested in Tilly. But dealing with this complicated situation on top of dealing with the loss of her friend and her grandfather being diagnosed with Alzheimer's is a lot for a sixteen year old girl. Can Tilly figure out her heart and navigate this crush before it destroys a friendship? This was a fairly cute sapphic rom com about unexpected romances and dealing with difficult friendships and situations. Tilly was going through so much, and yeah she made a few bad decisions but she's sixteen and sometimes we do ridiculous things to try and not hurt people we love. This was a overall cute read and I had fun with it.

Okay I actually have more Showman information I just forgot. SORRY.

The concept albums he comes from are a trilogy but there are more songs and albums by Alice Cooper that are loosely connected.

The Last Temptation, one of the albums, comes with a graphic novel that provides him with a character design!

He can temporarily be warded away by the power of imagination because his domain is dreams and nightmares and the real vs the unreal.

He forgot what movies are and would probably be appalled to know they’re not only in theaters. But he DOES know what Coca-Cola is and has a really dusty stash for when children ask him for a soda.

Also he’s kind of important to me as my introduction to Alice Cooper who himself is a weirdo so please 🥺
