what bow and arrows do you use?
Hey there anon! I use a traditional recurve bow made of fiberglass with a leather wrapping that I got from The Flying Hun Archery shop at the Texas Renaissance Festival (I believe he orders them from AliBow though). It’s a 20 or 25# draw strength (I can’t 100% remember now).
My arrows are bamboo arrows with competition tips! They are about 33 inches (85 cm) long and also come from AliBow—though again, I get them from The Hun (he’s also the head of my mounted archery group).
I’ve included a pic of the bow/arrows from the day I got it and also a target picture that has a closeup of the fletching on my arrows. Thanks for the question!

My dude, get a horse bow!
I am five foot and it has made archery so much better for me. I used a standard recurve before.

i have a question for archery tumblr: I am all of five foot two, what would some recommendations be for me re: purchasing either a longbow or a recurve? brands yall like? should i buy as a whole or get the limbs and risers individually?
thanx
edit: i am well aware that the average longbow is taller than I am

Someone recently liked this so I figured I’d post an update!

I now shoot a 25# (5# heavier than my laminate in the above anon answer) Tatar laminate short bow with custom dark pearwood inlay! She’s also from AliBow and I’ve loved her since I first laid eyes on her — after 7 months of waiting to get her. Her name is Zarya and I love her so much. So far we’ve had two competitions together and I foresee many many more in our future.
(P.S. I also now shoot all carbon competition arrows wirh feather fletching and screw in field points, as well as flu flus wirh rubber ends and the spiral feather fletching)

Our first night together

First competition together

Braving the Texas Winter ‘Pocalypse (Part I) together

Second (and most recent) competition together!
