Recordé que hablamos sobre los viajes de Wukong por el mundo ocurrió una anécdota divertida sobre un rey griego en los años 20 XD. Dicho rey estaba paseando a su perro por los jardines y el perro fue a atacar un mono bien cuidado y después apareció otro mono a defenderlo!! Y el rey fue a sacar al perro de los monos y uno de ellos lo termino mordiendo y el rey se murió con la herida infectada!!!

¿Ahora como lo asociamos con el rey mono? Pues el rey estaba ahí tranquilo en un glamour de mono común y vio a este perro atacar a otro mono aparentemente común... Y fue a ayudarlo, obviamente con el glamour era solo un perro normal (SIMIO AYUDA SIMIO)

Y cuando se escaparon se quitaron los glamours y el otro mono demonio le agradece por su ayuda y se fueron por caminos se parados y una prohibición de por vida por Zeus por la muerte del rey en tierras griegas... (Bueno Hades meteria a Wukong de contrabando para ser mierdas con su hermanito)

Wukong: Ahora el otro mono probablemente este en algún lugar de la India o Sri Lanka... ¿O era Tailandia? No se, hace tiempo perdimos contacto...

Estuve viendo buscando sobre monos místicos para ver la poblacion de estos aparentemente la mayoría de esto es Hindú o Chino, y hay mitos sobre uno en Egipto o Costa Rica por lo que también se extiende la población por África o América principalmente en junglas (Por lo que ellos estarían completamente aislados o semi asilados de la civilización moderna)

For those who do not know; in 1920, the King Alexander of Greece was out walking his dog when his dog attacked a macaque monkey. A second macaque came to the first monkey's defence, and the King was bitten in the confusion. The King would later die of an infection caused by the monkey bite. The confusion caused by the loss of the King set up the dominos for the Greek monarchy to fall during WW2.

So we joked that Sun Wukong was the second monkey who jumped in to protect the first (actually a fellow monkey demon wearing a glamour). And since the incident led to the death of a royal - Wukong now has a lifetime ban from Greece via the Greco-Roman Gods XD

Playlist Makes Brain Go Brrrrr

First off, the playlist in question here was created by the amazing @softomegaposting. They did and excellent job I'd highly recommend listening to it first, especially if you weren't familiar with the songs like me!

Vibe Assessment

I was really struggling to describe the tone of this playlist. To solve that, I....may or may not have roped in some of my irl music-loving friends.

I challenged myself to describe this playlist without mentioning omegaverse. These are the phrases I came up with: "utopian domesticity and All its vile implications", "calming your lover down like they're a feral animal", "you've been reduced to your body and pray you will transcend physicality", "bawling your eyes out as the credits of an indie romcom roll", and "healing a debutante of her tuberculosis despite knowing her illness is prized".

After many listen-throughs, I still stand by these descriptions, except for the tuberculosis one (though it has great potential to be for another dynamic).

I think it's interesting how you found songs that have shockingly great parallels to omegas. "Froot", "Calm Me Down", and "One Day Robots Will Cry" FLOORED me when I first heard them because of this. I thought the religious aspect to some of the songs was interesting; not only were they good portrayals of that nuanced worship, but it also fit into the late 20th century domesticity theme?? I don't know, it's just *chef's kiss*

Putting this category first because it's the shortest and also incomplete since I'm still waiting on another friend's reccs. To be fair, my friends had way more suggestions than this, but these were the only two I felt really fit the themes described? But they're, naturally, missing the canine edge

My picks:

"Sweet Nothing" by Taylor Swift, "Grenadine" by Dreadlight, "Impostor Syndrome" by Sidney Gish, "Los Angeles" by Sugarcult,

"Sweet Nothing" hurts the most if it's played directly after "Hey Good Lookin", which is what took it out of the Honorable Mentions category tbh. It is the only song I believe actively captures one of the listed descriptors

"Grenadine" feels like it has the most on-the-nose for feral animal energy, but I also feel like it doesn't nail the theme 100%? It has more of a 'man-eater' vibe than anything

"Impostor Syndrome" is just a personal favorite of mine, omegaverse aside. Content-wise, a song about feeling disturbingly different/lesser than others feels very omega-coded, at least by many verses' standards. Lines like "these sweet instincts/ruin my life" and "for canine/grossly overqualified" are just icing on the cake

LISTEN!!! “Los Angeles” is THE typical omegean heat story. This is the hardest song to place in the descriptors, since it's describing a common trope instead of the psyche of an omega, but I've thought about this song for too long to not mention it. There's something very omega in struggling between intimacy and just getting through the day, especially as you try to fight against the "heat".

Out of all of these, I think "The Garden" is the strongest, but I couldn't sit down and explain why to you if I tried :')

"Sanctuary" is here because I listened to FOB's "Church" and heard the singular word 'santcuary'. And then I read the lyrics and debated for 20 minutes on if this was a good addition, so I compromised and put it here

"Self Defense" first entered the scene for the 'cheekbones and hormones' line, and remained because it felt on-theme in its somberness

"Summertime", "Sirens", and "the Detail" were just ones that stood out when I was pilfering through Spotify, and fit the musical themes enough for me to say "fuck it, someone could reasonably interpolate this probably"

A few other artists I listened to on the quest for suitable reccs: Owl City, The Smith's, Crystal Castles, The Pierces, Melanie Martinez, the Front Bottoms, and the Barbie album (haven't seen the movie yet either oops). I wish I could've gone through so much more, but life really caught up to me

► BIOGRAPHY

Henley was born in Los Angeles, CA to Emilia and Alexander Jacobs. The beautiful sight of the baby girl was expected, what took everyone off guard was that Henley was collateral beauty to her mother's passing whilst in childbirth. The trauma enough that it sent the business tycoon running with his new bundle of joy to Denver. The girl knew the basics of her parents' story; Emilia moved to LA with a dream and $20 dollars in her back pocket. She had a face that belonged in the movies, and she was sure she was going to make it happen. Alexander came from a long line of old wealth - the industrialists that paved the way for the new business magnates of today. He saw her sing at an open mic night and he was a sucker. She saw him from the stage and sung to him - the rest was history. It was why he took the loss so hard, turning to alcohol so quickly like his father before him. Meanwhile, little Henley was trying everything to have any sort of connection. When she couldn't, she found herself boarding herself up. To a degree, she blamed herself. It only made sense that he wanted nothing to do with her when she killed mom. Though her father's choice of escape was alcohol, the brunette would easily slip away into fantasy worlds thanks to books when things got hard. She promised herself that no matter how dark life got, she was to be her own beacon of light; if she couldn't do that for herself, then she would be that for others. She was the quiet girl in school that everyone wanted to know, and she hated it. The reasoning being that she knew she had more to offer than her looks, but that was all anyone really saw in her. Even her own father told her to utilize her looks to get ahead. Instead of anger, it only fueled her to prove everyone wrong. She was in honor society, the president of the physics club in high school, took AP courses in art history and government policy. There was only one person who truly saw her, and that was her first love in high school. Though she had friends, none of them were every as close nor as understanding as Astrid. It was pure - they just wanted to know one another and be around one another. Her father actually liked Astrid, so did all her friends - though no one but their closest circle knew what they genuinely were behind closed doors. What was most important was that she let her walls down around Astrid; she truly felt free enough to be herself shamelessly. When the first semester of college hit, Astrid claimed she wasn't ready to come out and that was the end of what Henley felt was her once in 20 lifetimes. Maybe the fact her father liked Astrid was a red flag. Maybe she did something wrong - didn't love her the way she needed. Either way, her walls came back up and they were stronger than ever. It was that break-up that became the foundation of her inspiration for her first couple EPs. When the second EP came out, Henley didn't expect the attention it got. Now as she works on her first studio album, Henley is cementing her walls in place and attempting to navigate this chaos of the entertainment industry; where no one cares who you are, but cares who you know and the number of followers you attain.

PSIQUE: carismático y solitario. pocos conocen su pasado y especialmente quién fue antes de hacerse famoso. sabe responder las preguntas con elocuencia, y saber cómo lidiar con las cámaras que lo rodean en algún momento, al igual que esos problemas de romance que pueden hacerlo caer. es inteligente y sarcástico a su manera, pero también sabe actuar con sus admiradores y especialmente poner límites cuando se debe. a pesar del género que toca y también de su pasado, no desea meterse en muchos problemas. amante de la vida y conocer mucho más que el mismo mundo le facilita, siempre está escribiendo canciones y producción para su álbum.

i.  su primer indicio con la música, fue con las voces de la gente negra (gospel) en una de las iglesias que en algún momento su madre lo llevó, cuando este era pequeño. la voz, la forma en que tocaban los instrumentos y también la letra, tocaron algo en lo profundo en aquel muchacho de diez años que estaba simplemente perdido en la vida. 

ii. no pasó muchacho para aprender a tocar los instrumentos, y también para sacar esa voz que tenía guardada. la guitarra, el piano, el violín fueron sus preferidos. su vida simplemente fue algo que nunca espero, una madre que tomaba hasta tres trabajos para pagarle sus clases, y unos abuelos que lo cuidaban 24/7 y lo llevaban a sus clases de música. los domingos estaba en el coro de la iglesia y una madre orgullosa lo miraba desde los asientos. el pequeño brian era la joya familiar.

iii. lamentablemente la vida no fue fácil para el muchacho. ingreso al servicio militar al momento de salir de la secundaria, por el tema financiero y no poder asistir a una universidad para estudiar música, fue algo que tuvo que deshacer al momento de observar su situación económica. estuvo lo necesario e hizo el suficiente dinero para poder cumplir sus metas, pero nada pudo cumplir cuando al momento de salir su madre tenía una enfermedad, y sus abuelos estaban cada día peor con su salud. 

iv. no pasó mucho tiempo para que su vida se derrumbara ante sus ojos. su madre falleció unos meses después, y luego sus abuelos que fallecieron al mismo tiempo, dejando al pequeño brian solo, en un mundo donde su única familia era solamente de tres personas y nadie más. ¿nada mejor que hacer para un joven de veintiún años? vivir la vida en carretera, unirse a grupos de motocicletas y dejar todo atrás. 

vi. de esa manera vivió su vida ante que lo encontraran en un bar cantando. una voz demostrando el dolor de su vida, una canción que expresaba sus sueños rotos y una vida preguntándose de los…¿qué pasaría sí? porque lo resto fue historia.

OPINIÓN DE WESTBOUND: una relación de amor y odio en el último tiempo. agradece el tiempo y el apoyo que le han dado, especialmente cuando se trata de escribir y tener un ‘hogar’, pero ahora no sabe qué hacer, debido a que se siente atado a esa empresa que lo vió nacer. brian quiere abrir sus alas y crear algo nuevo, salir de aquel lugar para crear algo propio y poder ayudar a los demás, especialmente a muchachos(as) que se sienten cómo en algún momento. brian no sabé qué hacer, seguir esa fidelidad que en algún momento juro cuando adolescente, o abrir sus propias alas y crear algo suyo.

El presidente de Túnez, Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, abandona el país con destino a Arabia Saudí ante la imposibilidad de frenar las protestas que exigen su dimisión tras cinco mandatos de autocracia. En Washington (EE.UU.) y tras conocerse el sorpresivo ataque japonés a Pearl Harbor (islas Hawái) del pasado 7 de diciembre, concluye la Conferencia de Arcadia en la que el presidente norteamericano Roosevelt y el primer ministro británico Churchill han hablado de la "Operación Gymnast" en la que participarían 55.000 soldados británicos para realizar un desembarco conjunto en África. No obstante, se decide que primero se intentará derrotar a Alemania, concentrando el esfuerzo bélico aliado en Europa, y una vez conseguido se irá a por Japón. (Hace 82 años)

En el Teatro Costanzi de Roma, (Italia), se estrena con éxito "Tosca", una ópera en tres actos, drama psicológico de mentira y dudas compuesta por Giacomo Puccini, uno de los más grandes exponentes de ópera verista, por la violencia y realismo del texto. El libreto es de Luigi Illica y Giuseppe Giacosa basado en un intenso drama de teatro, "La Tosca" de Victorien Sardou, presentado en París en 1887. (Hace 124 años)

Inglaterra y España firman un Tratado de Alianza para luchar contra los franceses, cuyos ejércitos han invadido España. Inglaterra tiene necesidad imperiosa de vencer a Napoleón, por eso, nada más producirse el Levantamiento español contra el invasor en 1808, consideró a España y a los españoles alzados como potencia amiga intentado favorecerles en todo cuanto fuera posible para que lograsen la victoria. Felipe IV, rey de España, convoca y destituye a su ministro el conde-duque de Olivares, por sus fracasos en la política llevada a cabo durante la Guerra separatista dels Segadors de Cataluña, el conflicto de Portugal y la conspiración de los nobles andaluces orquestada por el duque de Medina-Sidonia. Nascut a Irlanda el 1128, Lawrence era fill del cap del clan Murray. Quan tenia 10 anys, va ser pres com a ostatge pel rei de Leinster, Dermonf McMurrough, que dos anys més tard el va enviar a l'abadia de Glendalough. El nen es va enamorar de la vida monàstica, i s'hi va quedar amb el permís del seu pare.

Als 25 anys va ser elegit abat de Galedalough, càrrec que va ocupar fins al 1162. Home d'acció i de pregària, es va comprometre a reformar els costums de l'Abadia, i va prestar especial atenció a la caritat cap als orfes abandonats.

El 1179 participà en el Tercer Concili General del Laterà, a Roma, quan el papa Alexandre III el va nomenar bisbe de Dublín i cinc diòcesis més d'Irlanda, a més de nomenar-lo el seu representant a l'illa.

El rei Enric II d'Anglaterra, incòmode amb tanta autoritat ofert a Dom Lourenço pel Sant Pare, va prohibir al bisbe tornar a Irlanda. Després de moltes negociacions, el monarca va acabar cedint i permetent que Lourenço tornés a l'illa, però el bisbe, ja vell i malalt, va morir durant el viatge, el 14 de novembre de 1180.

Canonitzat per Honori III l'any 1225, sant Llorenç O'Toole pertany al grup de sants que van patir pels petits interessos dels representants del poder temporal que no honraven els seus càrrecs perquè temien poc Déu i s'estimaven més que ell.

Born in Ireland in 1128, Lawrence was the son of the chief of the Clan Murray. When he was 10 years old, he was taken hostage by the King of Leinster, Dermonf McMurrough, who two years later sent him to Glendalough Abbey. The boy fell in love with the monastic life, and remained there with his father's permission.

At the age of 25 he was elected Abbot of Galedalough, a position he held until 1162. A man of action and prayer, he was committed to reforming the Abbey's customs, and paid special attention to charity towards abandoned orphans.

In 1179, he participated in the Third General Council of the Lateran, in Rome, when Pope Alexander III appointed him Bishop of Dublin and five other dioceses in Ireland, in addition to naming him his representative on the island.

King Henry II of England, uncomfortable with so much authority offered to Dom Lourenço by the Holy Father, banned the Bishop from returning to Ireland. After many negotiations, the monarch ended up giving in and allowing Lourenço to return to the island, but the Bishop, already elderly and ill, died during the trip, on November 14, 1180.

Canonized by Honorius III in 1225, Saint Lawrence O’Toole belongs to the group of Saints who suffered because of the petty interests of representatives of temporal power who did not honor their positions because they feared God little, and loved themselves more than Him.

John Dryden

Fue un influyente crítico literario y dramaturgo inglés nacido en Aldwinkle Northamptonshire en agosto de 1631, quien dominó la vida literaria de Inglaterra de la Restauración Inglesa, periodo en la que se restaura la monarquía de Carlos II.

Fue el mayor de 14 hijos de Erasmus y Mary Dryden, quienes formaban parte de la aristocrácia terrateniente puritana que apoyó al Parlamento.

Fue enviado como alumno del Westminster School, escuela recién fundada por Isabel I, la cual como una escuela primaria humanista mantuvo un currículo que enseñaba a sus alumnos el arte de la retórica y de buscar siempre dos argumentos en cualquier discusión.

Fue durante estos primeros años que Dryden publicó su primer poema, y en 1650 acudió al Trinity College de Cambridge en donde regresa al ambiente religioso y politico de su infancia.

Cuatro años mas tarde muere su padre teniendo que mudarse a Londres durante el protectorado, obteniendo trabajo con el secretario de Estado de Cromwell, John Thurloe.

Su primer poema importante se publicó en 1658 titulado “Heroique Stanzas” en donde hace un elogio a la muerte de Cromwell 

Después de la restauración contrajo matrimonio en 1663 con la hermana de Sir Robert Howard, Lady Elizabeth y con la reapertura de los teatros después de la prohibición puritana, publica su primera pieza dramática titulada “The will galant”, dando inicio a su fecunda carrera como dramaturgo que duraría hasta 1693.

Su trabajo mas conocido dentro del género de la comedia de la Restauración sobresale “Marriage a la mode” publicada en 1672. 

Dryden consigue hacerse de un puesto en la corte como historiógrafo real y se cree que gracias a la fama conseguida con el poema Annus Mirabilis en 1666 es que fue nominado como poeta laureado.

Con la deposición del rey Jaime en 1688, quedó sin apoyos en la corte y fue sustituido por Thomas Shadwell como poeta laureado, viéndose forzado a dejar sus cargos públicos y vivir de sus obras.

Sus traducciones a los clásicos latinos y griegos fueron especialmente notables y sus prólogos y prefacios resultaron de gran interés para la crítica literaria de su tiempo. La publicación de la traducción de Virgilio fue un acontecimiento nacional y le reportó ganancias importantes.

La influencia de Dryden como poeta fue inmensa en su época. Su poesía, patriótica, religiosa y satírico-política fue tan popular en su estilo que fue tomada como modelo por poetas como Alexander Pope y Samuel Johnson.

T.S. Elliot, escribió que él fue el antecesor de casi todo lo que es mejor en la poesía del siglo XVIII y que no podemos disfrutar plenamente ni valorar adecuadamente un siglo de poesía inglesa salvo que sepamos disfrutar plenamente de Dryden.

Dryden murió en 1700 y su cuerpo fue enterrado en la Abadía de Westminster.
