#alex summers' gay history

Three gay experiences I'm reasonably sure Alex Summers has had:
A foursome with Lorna, Jamie, and one of his dupes. This was the least gay because it was mostly Lorna wanting them to run a train on her, but the dupe definitely touched his dick at least once.
A threesome with Dazzler and Longshot in the Outback. Alex topped Longshot in a mediocre fashion while they were all high on cocaine, because it was the late 80s and they felt bad for him. Alex has successfully repressed all memory of this.
He and Logan fucked in Mumbai after the events of Havok & Wolverine: Meltdown. They were both supremely wasted and don't remember the hookup. This is my favorite because it would mean — based on my appraisal of The History Of Scoganjean — that Alex managed to fuck Scott's boyfriend before Scott did. I also don't think this encounter was penetrative, but I definitely think it was the first time Alex sucked dick.
This is my assessment of Alex's gay sexual history just based on the appearances of his that I've read so far. I expect I will find more as I continue to read more of his appearances, because I love Alex, but the fact is, that he is, as a character, mostly in stories to be a Problem and Have Inadvisable Affairs.

Seventeen as F1 drivers I grew up watching….
S.coups. Max verstappen
There's just something about S.coups' and Max's aura that gives ✨MAJESTIC✨. I have NEVER seen a bigger pet dad than these two. You know how Max broke the wooden door of his storeroom because his cat was stuck inside and he couldn't open it from outside, I bet Seungcheol will pull some similar kind of shit if it's for Kumma. One thing that just makes sense about both of them- GIRL DAD- we already have a glimpse of girl-dad Max when he takes care of Penelope but I love how Caratland has collectively announced that Seungcheol IS A GIRL DAD. Both of them have their own principles but will not follow the instructions given if anything crosses them. They are both the type you would benefit from not having a beef with, 'cause they are difficult to handle when triggered. I don't know why the internet just keeps on bashing Seungcheol and Max as the scariest and most emotionally unavailable person, when they are the pookiest bears u will ever meet- like how Max reassured Lando that he is capable of bigger things everytime Lando doubts himself and how Seungcheol always guides his members through the tough times seventeen has had. They care and sympathise for those they cherish.
Jeonghan. Nico Rosberg
Britanny Spear. Goldilocks. Rapunzel… Whoever is known for their luscious golden locks… Add these two to the list. One tributing to seventeen other to formula one. The funny thing is, despite the fans absolutely adoring the look on Jeonghan, he doesn't like having long hair because of how high maintenance it is and it troubles while performing… just the same way Nico doesn't appreciate being called Britney because, well it's self-explanatory ig. Being the leader of the tiredz line I think Jeonghan always searches for the easiest and fastest way to get the job done… And once done he will not waste a second to go back home. This behavior of Jeonghan is giving the same energy as how Nico won his first (and only) drivers' championship, got his name written in the history of world champions, and retired...for the comfort of his family. Always stirring drama, we all know how Jeonghan is famous for creating chaos and drama within seventeen, and ever since Nico became an f1 reporter (or commentator idk the word for it) I think he's been doing the same, stirring drama.... interviewing Lewis in Spain the very circuit the famous brocedes crashed will forever be gold to me... him taking selfie in front of Lewis' garage to give him the "Rosberg curse"... Yeah I miss both my blonde icons 😭😭
Joshua Sebastian Vettel
40% Kind, 30% flirt, 80%patience, 50%Maniac... (they are both twice the man anyone can ever be) Joshua and Sebastian are both the definition of kids well raised… The gentlemen of the group always take care of others. Making sure everyone is comfortable and comforted, they will make sure the grid and members are well fed. The gentlemen who protects the ladies and ends up rizzing them. The gentlemen who acts innocent knowing very well they have the rizz to charm the person in front, and have succeeded in doing so. Istg both of them are such big flirts…. if they are not being straight while flirting they are being gay and flirting with men. Both of them give the energy of cool uncles you would love to spend your summer break with… but your parents are kinda scared to leave you with them; not because they don't trust Josh and Sebastian but because of all the shenanigans that will go down while you are together. Well most accurate of it all is the crazy chaotic side they share, and I know I don't need to explain this to yall… My baby boos no body hurt them istg I WILL throw hands…. They are both very dear to me. Everyone is a Seb Vettel fan, even if you think you are not, you are a Seb Vettel fan. and I think the same for our gentle sexy Josh, you just can't come close to disliking him let alone hate... and if you do, you should cease to exist.
Jun. Alex Albon
Georgie Pooh's best friend. They are both goofballs that everyone absolutely adores. You trouble them and their bf (George and Minghao) are ready to wrestle you down. Have the most innocent face and smile in the group, but don't be fooled by the looks they are both just hidden menaces in disguise sometimes. The most random person you would ever come to know... people might argue that Hoshi and Lando are much more random... and I agree, yes they are, but it's how we expect them to be random that makes it less random almost as if we are anticipating that from Lando and Hoshi but with Jun and Alex it nearly fun cause we DO NOT expect that. WE DO NOT expect a 26-year-old Jun to just randomly come over and start mimicking an old lady in the middle of someone else's conversation. WE DO NOT EXPECT 27-year-old Alex to (try to) make the hardest track and just end up drawing a snail on the paper AND name the track RAIL THE SNAIL. It's just this randomness that makes them funny for me. Physically I don't think either of them can hurt a fly, but mentally, oh boy they will leave a scar on you by their sarcastic choice of words. All in all, you just can't NOT LIKE either of them.
Hoshi. Lando Norris
Literal ChAOs of the pack. Hoshi comes with a 'HANDLE WITH CARE' label on himself, just like Lando. You never know when their hyperactive mode will turn on. They need a lot of love and care to function properly. GIVE! THEM! ATTENTION! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF U ARE OLDER THAN THEM OR NOT. As I mentioned above RANDOM AS HELL. If it feels right they will say and do THE MOST RANDOM stuff, completely out of context…(que to Lando randomly blurting ✨B U N D A✨ in that one interview). Do you remember that one interview where Hoshi says 'I buy all, I eat all and then I regret all' THAT IS LANDO. I feel like they are both the type to not listen to you while you are instructing them to not do something hazardous, and then blame you for not stopping or warning them after the deed's done. If F1 had its own BSS...lando would definately be a part of it. On the contrary to this, their professional selves are very competitive and intimidating. Both Lando and Hoshi are very result oriented and mostly tend to be a little tough on themselves, and resultingly also towards people around them.
Wonwoo. Oscar piastri
We have two calm cuties in the building here, both of them radiating cat energy. They will very diligently serve the polite cat face. Lowkey hilarious. Both of them have such a dry sense of humor it is exactly my type. They have a very high intellect and definitely a big thesaurus. Oscar is always out there helping Lando's dyslexic ass figure out words he cant pronounce or spell and then we have Kim Mingyu, mentioning in that going seventeen episode of insomnia, that Wonwoo uses smartass words. In my eyes, it's the introvert in them, that finds it difficult to be able to express themselves. But once with the correct person/ people, oh boy there's no stopping them. Wonwoo and Oscar both have a very mysterious vibe to them which is... well very attractive. AND I cant exaggerate enough how cute they both are.
Woozi. Lewis Hamilton
The GREATEST OF ALL TIMES. There's a reason why we call Woozi the god of music, and that's because of his unbeatable records and talents in his career, just like Sir Hamilton. They both started young and are here to stay long and honestly, they achieved the point at where they will stay forever in the names of K-pop and F1. They both have a very dedicated and fun approach towards their carrer. One thing I can not exaggerate enough is how both Woozi and Lewis laugh gives me comfort. It's just how freely they laugh out loud, full HAHAHA, is special to me. Both of them are very well secure in themselves and know the impact they have. I love my short kings.
The8. George Russell
As I said above… Alobono's bestie. Material gworl. THE MEME. Both of them are crazy. 🤩CRAZY🤪. Personally, they both seem to be the types to judge their peers, for quite a long time… And then join the shenanigans… Although they act questionable too they just brush it off (or at least try to) by being cool. They are ✨SASSY✨ and that's a F A C T. It's beautiful how they always keep their fans in mind and have the most adorable and iconic moments with them. Like George's interaction with the little Singapore fan wearing the George T-pose shirt and this interaction in Singapore again and we can not forget that fan call with Myungho where the carat showed him a gaint frog and he just was surprised, shocked and trying not to laugh. Both of them have a beautiful taste in fashion. Old Money. Georg as your Old Money CEO vibes and the8 as your Old Money Mafia vibe(your view might be different idk). Their face economy is high on the scale. Literal definition of angel face demonic acts. George is our "chiseled angel" and Myungho is our "Chinese prince".
Mingyu. Oliver Bearman
Big baby trapped in an even bigger body. We all know that Mingyu is famous for being a muscular beanpole, but Ollie is also a handsome lampost, like 185 cm for the driver, no jokes. If golden retriever was a person it would be them, both of them hold their hearts on the sleeves. Very, and I say, very optimistic with their surroundings. They have a very play full personality, which I am hoping to see more from Oliver in Haas. Collecting fans left and right, everywhere they go. Mingyu absolutely basks in the fame and love his fans shower and I can see Oliver absorbing the adoration he receives, not just from his grid parents but from the whole F1 community. They are beautifully loved and it just shows in how well they treat their fans and people around them. I love the family dynamics in the Kim family and the Bearman family. There is love, comfort, mischief and a lot of support for their son's career. Highlight of it all would be Ollie's dad worried over his 18-year-old son's debut f1 race. They have both the best performance duality, one second u will see Mingoo and Ollie, and the moment you blink, boom, Kim Mingyu slaying the stage and Oliver Bearman showing no mercy inthe race.
Dk. Daniel Riccardo
Big eyes, big nose, big smile, big personality. Danny will deffo be pt. 2 of BSS. These two are everybody's fantasy man. Honestly (pls don't come at me for saying this) I am neither a DK bias nor is Danielle my fav driver, but, they just have the kind of personality that draws you in and makes you want to know more about them. And then you fall in love with them and there's no undo for both of them once you fall. Always loud. Fucking loud. Everything they do is LOUD. But they are never loud alone, they always have a companion in their shenanigans. The sunshine. The happy virus. The energy boost of the group. But they come with their own hardships which usually go unnoticed. Even with the insane vocals DK usually struggles while recording and starts questioning his choice of career (ngl I kinda find it funny sometimes, not like I am laughing tho, it must be difficult for them), and well Danny has had a fare share in difficult times with his career. It's crazy how a lot of people just forget that they are insanely handsome just because they are super goofy. I think it for the better to stay this way cause if the people were to find their beauty, it would be the end of the world.
Seungkwan. Carlos Sainz Jr
For sure BSS part 3 will be Carlos. Social butterfly, is literally besties with everyone, everywhere. What makes it better is that Seungkwan and Carlos both, just adapt to the people around them, never letting them feel alone and always having a welcoming smile… we can't forget how Papa Sainz adopts the drivers just like Seungkwan adopting younger idols. ends up resorting to violence if things don't go their way, i.e. Seungkwan's famous flying kick sent Hoshi's way and Carlos pushing Charles and Lando off the chair every time during the team challenges. You can catch them anywhere, one moment you will see Carlos racing and you open Twitter to find him giving the trophies to Moto GP winners with his father, the same as SeungKwan is on every show you can think of co-hosting, as a mentor or just for promotion. If elegance met chaos it would be Carlos and Seungkwan. they are both very well celebrated and idolised in their domain; both well celebrated in Spain and Jeju respectively.
Vernon. Fernando Alonso
What I think is fascinatingly alike in both of them is that neither act their age. They are mentally in their preeteen(probably younger for vernon, coz he a baby) and it is very visible in how seventeen treats and Pampers Vernon and Alonso's little banters on the team radio (which I absolutely love btw). Hopefully both of them remain youthful forever. No thoughts head empty just thinking about vernon in going seventeen episodes and aonso in post race interviews. How they keep their faces straight most of the time while doing the randomest thingsHalf of the time they are just wondering wtf is wrong with the team and the other time they are confused why they even get involved in the weird team antics, ALL THE WHILE FULLY BEING PRESENT IN THE TEAM DRAMA. DW they love their team, ig. Alonso's little dancey dance celebration for race wins when he was with Renault reminds me of Vernon's clap freestyle dance breaks during concerts, totally random but completely their style. Vernon did a lot of side quests before becoming seventeen just like alonso when he took a break from F1 by joining rally…. And let's not forget they will both be amazing Gen z social media influencers.
Dino. Franco Colapinto
When I see these two I see youth and talent… One is the future of K-pop and the other one, I can definitely see being the future of Formula One… it's been only a few races Franco has been on the grid and I can see him being very dedicated towards his team and his performance. The slightest mistake and he will be pushing himself through for not being better, unsatisfied with his output. Exactly how Dino pushes himself to the limits and beyond, he would do anything to keep his team in the best spirits. It breaks my heart to see them being upset OR unsatisfied with the performance when they couldn't have served better. Both my youngsters have a very sassy humor. Dino has opted to this as a coping mechanism towards his 12 hyungs, well franco I find really funny during post race interviews like this interview where he called the alpines 'FRENCHS' cause he was salty they stole his well deserved fasted lap. ✨PURE GOLD✨. I am always looking forward to them serving on stage and on track, they never disappoint fr.
SPECIAL MENTION (I was just lowkey conflicted while choosing the matches for members and I feel like I need to mention these two because they are equally accurate i feel) KIM MINGYU AS CHARLES LECLERC
THE person everyone wants...Golden Boy who is loved by everyone... literally everyone's fav, and also the person with the weirdest luck... a tad bit too optimistic with their surroundings I feel... debuted with insane talent but got famous for their insane visuals first, talent second. another hyperactive personality duo of svt and f1.
WOOZI AS YUKI TSUNODA
Pocket sized. Little fierce devil in the guise of a cute hamster. They are known for their sharp use of vocabulary ones during lyrics writing and others on the radio. there's this little mischievous kid in them that always stays well kept but manages to pop out eventually. has that one most famous ship (yukierre and soonhoon).
a/n: I swear to God it has been in my drafts for a painfully long time. I tried to keep it as close to their personalities as I could find. I hope you guys enjoyed it any asks or recommendations are open <(●'◡'●)

Out of curiosity, were you always horny for the Stan twins, or did this ignite because of BOB?
It ignited because of BOB, yeah. I've always casually liked Gravity Falls, watched it every summer as a tradition, loved the characters deeply and was fascinated by the way Alex Hirch used the story telling medium, but BOB happened to come out right when my previous hyperfixation, BNHA, was drying up. (The way the manga ended killed my passion for it, hardcore-)
So my ADHD dopamine receptors were scrambling for anything to latch on to, and my friend let me borrow her copy of BOB, and the rest is history. I've rewatched Gravity Falls maybe 30??? Times??? From beginning to end since the book came out, on repeat. I have plushies and pins and merch now, and I draw Bill in my eyeliner every day for work. I'm working on one fic at the moment, but I have ideas for anywhere from 2 to 7 more rolling around in my head. (Which, I'm sure is going to increase if my record of 33 BNHA fics is anything to go by.)
As for being horny for the Stan twins... It's not even really the both of them, it's mostly Stanley. I love Ford, too, but not as carnally as I love his brother. I was too young back in the day to appreciate them, so I'm making up for lost time. But now that I'm 23, almost 24, and gay as fuck, I can for damn sure appreciate a fine cut a beef the likes of Stanley Pines. 💙😋

Piano Lessons - Alex Claremont-Diaz x Male Reader
Summary: Alex gets turned on by your piano skills
Words 1.7K
Warnings: Smut; gay smut; rimming; cockwarming; anal sex; idk what this is anymore
Notes: I promise I'll write some fluff for Alex and Henry next !
Y/N’s POV
As I sit at the grand piano in Kensington Palace, my fingers gracefully glide across the ivory keys, coaxing a melodic symphony from the instrument. The rich, resonant notes fill the room, dancing in the air like fireflies on a warm summer night. The piano is set against a backdrop of regal red, pristine white and the deep blue hues that embody the spirit of the monarchy past. It’s a symbol of tradition and history, much like my family itself.
Today, the atmosphere in the room is different, and it’s all because of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the charismatic and intelligent man I’m fortunate enough to call my boyfriend. He’s visiting me here at Kensington Palace, and his presence has added a touch of vibrancy and excitement to the usually stated surroundings. As my fingers continue to play, I can’t help but steal a glance at Alex. He’s seated on a luxurious, plush chair nearby, his russet eyes fixed on me with an intensity that sends a shiver down my spine. His admiration and affection are palpable, even from across the room.
The strains of the piano’s music seem to weave a story of their own, a story of love, passion, and the unbreakable bond between two individuals who have defied the odds. Alex and I come from different worlds, but our connection is undeniable. He’s the love of my life, the one who has shattered all expectations and brought colour into my world of duty and responsibility.
I finish the piece with a flourish, letting the final notes linger in the air for a moment before they fade away. Alex rises gracefully from his seat, his eyes never leaving mine, and his smile could light up the darkest of rooms. He approaches me with that same confident stride that has always captivated me. The way he moves, with an air of self-assuredness, is a testament to the strength of his character and the love that binds us together.
He doesn't stop in front of me; instead, he reaches out and gently takes my hand, drawing me to my feet. Our eyes lock, and it's as if the world around us disappears, leaving just the two of us in this intimate moment. He moves around to stand behind me, settling on the piano stool. Before I can ask what he’s doing, he’s wrapping his muscular arms around my waist and pulling me back onto his lap. It draws a surprised gasp from me as there’s something poking me in the ass and fuck, I know exactly what he’s doing.
I don’t protest, letting myself melt into his embrace, my head falling back against his shoulder, relishing in the comforting and exhilarating feeling of his arms around me. The warmth of his body against mine is a soothing balm to my soul, reminding me that I’m not alone in this world of duty and responsibility. A soft sound escapes my throat when Alex presses a loving kiss to the back of my neck, each one sending shivers down my spine.
His hands slip from my waist down to the button of my jeans, a gentle kiss pressed to my jawline and I’m fighting against it as Shaan is just outside the door and could walk in any moment. But, Alex’s hand is driving me crazy, palming me through my tight jeans, knowing exactly how to turn me on.
“Baby boy,” Alex’s voice is low and resonant, exuding want and love, and it’s breaking down the last of my reservations about what he’s asking, “Need you baby.”
I rock my hips back once, drawing a deep rumble from Alex’s chest, and it’s all he needs to pop the button on my jeans and tugging lightly. I lift my hips for him, letting him draw my jeans and boxers down far enough to expose me to him. Instead of freeing himself from the confines of his jeans like I expected he’s gripping my hips and pushing me to my feet, pressing a large hand to the base of my spine and bending me over the piano. His hands spread my ass, kneeling the flesh between those fantasy inducing hands and before I can process what’s happening I’m yelping in surprise.
At the first lick I almost faceplant the top of the piano, never expecting so many nerve-endings where Alex is currently ravishing me. Alex supports my weight, bringing me back against his mouth, and it draws an embarrassing sound from me, a high pitched whine that gets caught in my throat. My knuckles are turning white with how hard I’m gripping the edges of the piano, trying to spread my legs even further to give him more room. Alex wastes no time, tongue flicking and licking broad stripes against my hole, moving every so often to nip at the plump skin. It’s erotic, more than I could have imagined. The two of us with Alex’s lean but muscular body holding me up as he devours me, my dick twitching as he eats me out like I’m his last meal. His hands are massaging my thighs, oh so close to my aching dick, dripping precum onto the keys of the piano, making me arch my back to try and get the warmth closer to my dick. It doesn’t work but instead gives Alex more space and before I can react his tongue is inside me and I’m crying out before slamming my head against the top of the piano trying to muffle my cries.
“A-Alex please.” My voice comes out broken and hoarse, causing Alex to grin against my skin, “Alex. I need you.” I’m almost crying, feeling embarrassed about begging but I need to feel him inside me properly.
It’s all it takes it seems. Alex is pulling away, giving me time to steady my breathing while I hear the zipper on his jeans and then, with gentle hands I’m being guided backwards. I’m so glad for Alex’s grip on my hips as my knees are shaking like crazy but that’s soon forgotten when the head of his dick pushes its way past my now relaxed opening. I’m gripping his wrists, taking a deep breath as the stretch still burns but not as much as before, Alex’s spit acting as lube and I can slide further down quicker than before.
I go to raise my hips again as soon as I’m settled on his lip, the button of his jeans digging into the back of my thigh but his hands still gripping my hips stop me and he’s leaning forwards, warm breath ghosting my ear, “Play.”
“W-what?” I choke out.
“Play me something.” His voice is tight and his hips betray him when they thrust up ever so slightly, drawing a sound from both of us but he reiterates his point, “Play for me.”
I take a deep breath, attempting to focus on playing another piece despite the situation, knowing I’m getting nothing from Alex otherwise. I place my fingers on the keys, trying to muster the concentration needed to produce a coherent melody. But as I begin to play, Alex’s hands find my thighs, massaging them and his lips are coasting teasingly along my neck. His proximity is both a blessing and a challenge, as his hips jerk up again, teasing himself as well as me.
With each note I strike, I can sense Alex’s playful energy intensifying. He digs his nails into my inner thighs, drawing a sharp sound from me and an off key as my hands jerk. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and it’s clear he intends to draw this teasing out as long as he can. His fingers trace light patterns on my hips, sending delightful shivers down my spine. He whispers sweet, teasing words in my ear, his voice laced with affection and a hint seduction. It’s incredibly difficult to maintain my composure and focus on the music when he’s gently circling my hips in his lap.
The piece could not end quicker for both of us because as soon as I’ve played my last note Alex’s regains that firm grip on my hips and lifts me until just the head of his dick is indie me before he slams me down, a loud cry of pain and pleasure escaping me. I’m a whimpering mess already, Alex moving a hand to wrap around my aching dick, moving his hand in time with his almost brutal thrusts. I can feel my muscles tightening and thighs shaking as I reach that precipice, but Alex, my sweet, frustrating Alex. He pulls me down so he’s fully sheafed inside me and circles his hips, just missing my prostate and leaving me almost begging for that sweet release.
“Now now baby,” Alex nips at the back of my neck, “Wait for me.” With that he thrusts as deep as he can, circling his hips every few thrusts until I’m almost crying again, my thighs clenching and stomach rolling over with effort of trying to stave off that sweet release. I’m mumbling stuff, unsure if it’s actual words or gibberish but Alex knows exactly as he reaches around to take my dick in his hand one last time. He doesn’t jerk me off but runs his thumb over the slit that’s leaking precum and before I can stop myself I’m cumming. My body lurches forwards and my whole body shudders with pleasure as ropes of my seed hit the piano and I should be embarrassed but all I can think about is Alex holding me tightly, breath hot against the back of my neck as he pumps me full. His hips jerk a few times more before he’s sinking into the stool, holding me against his chest as we try and catch our breaths.
“Do you think anyone heard us?” I mumble, throat raw and voice cracking.
Alex chuckles into the crook of his neck before a muffled reply comes from him, “I think everyone heard.”
“Oh god.” I’m burying my face in my hands, cheeks heating up and not wanting to ever leave this room again.
“Come on darling, let’s get ourselves sorted out.” He’s easing me off of him, both of us wincing in oversensitivity and I sort myself out the best I can, feeling his seed already leaking down my legs and knowing I need a nice, hot bath now.
Alex takes my hand and leads me out of the room, past a very red faced Shaan who won’t look our way. He leads me down the hall, towards my room but before we get there we hear a shriek from Philip:
“WHAT THE BLOODY HELL HAPPENED TO MY PIANO!!!??”

Decided to do @queerliblib s summer bingo cause I like reading and ticking boxes.
The rainbow books are spaces I already have a book in my immediate to-read pile, so I can track what I will fill in for sure.
List of books I've read below the cut
Format switch: The Rainbow Parade by Emily Neilson, read in a read along formet.
This one was tricky cause I cannot read ebooks, no matter how much I try. So, I figured I'd go for something shorter and saw that they have read along books and decided to go with that. It's a cute little story that my conservative brother would not want to read to his child and that's a massive win.
Stonewall Award winner: The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta
This has been sitting on my shelf for months and I read it in one sitting this morning. I really liked it, but it's another tick in the 'most young adult stories don't do it for me anymore' colomn, which if very long if i'm honest. Do recomend.
Memoir: All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson
A memoir about growing up black and gay. The voice was really good, and enhanced because it was read by the author.
Book with a Protagonist Older than 40: How Y'all Doing by Leslie Jordan
Focus of a memoir is the protagonist, right? Imma say it is. I've never been into instagram and such, so I didn't see Leslie Jordan's contant beyond what filtered to tumblr, but knew enough about him to be interested. A genuinly funny read, and he narrated it so well in the audio book.
Queer non-fiction: The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison by Hugh Ryan
An interesting and difficult read. Really highlights the cruelty of the criminal legal system and how pivitol it is to the queer community in New York.
Indigenous Author: This Town Sleeps by Dennis E. Staples
An interesting quick read. The audio book made switching POVs confusing at times, but not enough to really pull me out of the story. I adore the dog's name and the reason behind it.
Genre fiction: The Route of Ice and Salt by José Luis Zárate and translated by David Bowles
A retelling of the journey of The Demeter from Dracula, from the pov of the gay captain. Very literary and very good.
Comic, manga, or graphic novel: Anne: An Adpatation of Anne of Green Gables (Sort Of) by Kathleen Gros
I started another book for this one, but couldn't get into it, then I saw this one while browsing the library on libby and was hooked. A quick, easy read and very sweet. I love this version of Anne and the ways the original book events are adapted.
Set in the past: The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow
Such a good read. I love the small bits of world building done through the differences in tales and rhymes we have today. Each character is very distinct and I would die for James Juniper.
Coming of age: The Western Alienation Merit Badge by Nancy Jo Cullen
tbh, I had no real idea what to expect with this one, probably more connections to merit badges. Really got into it and very emotional at points.
Main character doesn't share an identity with you: Melissa by Alex Gino
I've heard of this one, obviously, but never read it. It's very cute and I really enjoyed it.
Queer Picture book: Let Me Out: a pop-out about coming out! by Omis Razavi
Got this one through their crowdfunding years ago. It's great
Do a subject heading search to find a book: The Trees Grew Because I Bled There: Collected Stories by Eric LaRocca
I searched horror and found this one. Some of the stories are better than others, and the writing style made it a little hard for me to get into some of them, but very good overall.

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam emerged in the summer of 1985, during the height of the Reagan era, as one of the first Latin freestyle groups to achieve significant crossover and commercial success. Their debut single, "I Wonder If I Take You Home," not only exemplified the burgeoning freestyle genre—a genre that became a platform for young English-language Puerto Rican and Latiné singers—but the song also served, mainly through its lyrics, as a cultural marker of a period when pop music, the emerging concept of safer sex, and the anxiety surrounding AIDS were all colliding.
1985 was a critical year in the history of AIDS. Annual infections had risen steadily, from 20,000 in 1981 to 130,000 by 1984 and 1985, and public recognition of AIDS as a growing health crisis was beginning to take hold. This shift was culturally punctuated by Hollywood icon Rock Hudson's disclosure of his AIDS diagnosis on July 25, 1985, the same week that "I Wonder If I Take You Home" was sitting at #45 on Billboard's Hot 100, on its way to a #34 peak. Lisa Lisa's breakthrough was occurring in this rapidly-evolving AIDS backdrop when conversations around safer sex and risk reduction were permeating into the mainstream.
Baby, I know you're wondering
Why I won't go over to your place
Cause I'm not to sure about how you feel
So I'd rather go at my own pace
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, formed in 1984, was the brainchild of the pioneering Brooklyn-based, multi-genre group Full Force. The trio featured vocalist the charismatic lead vocalist Lisa Velez, guitarist/bassist Alex "Spanador" Moseley, and drummer/keyboardist Mike Hughes. After signing with Columbia Records, the group's debut single, "I Wonder If I Take You Home," was released in the U.K., just months after freestyle's big-bang moment, Shannon's "Let the Music Play," reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100. "I Wonder If I Take You Home" gained traction in the U.S. at the club and radio levels in the spring of 1985.
President Ronald Reagan did not mention AIDS publicly until September 1985, four years after the onset of the crisis. It would be another two years before the country took steps to raise awareness about AIDS with the launch of the "America Responds to AIDS" campaign. But as early as 1983, the gay community and AIDS activists took the lead in raising awareness about safer sex and risk reduction, particularly in the communities most impacted.
youtube
Written and produced by Full Force, "I Wonder If I Take You Home" was a groundbreaking blend of electro-funk, Latin rhythms, hip-hop, and pop/dance elements that would define Latin freestyle music. Lisa Lisa's youthful yet soulful vocals, pulsating production, and infectious melody helped solidify the song's crossover appeal. For many Black and Latine youth coming of age during the AIDS crisis and amid early safe-sex messaging, the song's lyrical content of trust, intimacy, and the decision to have sex resonated and reflected the realities of teen sexuality.
"I Wonder If I Take You Home" became a massive crossover success. It topped Billboard's Dance Chart, reached the top 10 on the Black Singles Chart, and became the group's first top 40 pop hit. Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's success continued into the early 1990s with R&B/Pop hits, including a pair of #1 singles, "Head to Toe" and "Lost in Emotion" and the cook-out classic "Let The Beat Hit 'Em."
The Legacy of “I Wonder If I Take You Home" looms large. The song has transcended generations, sampled and interpolated by artists such as Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Kelis, Kylie Minogue, and covered by Black queer, two-spirit bassist and singer Meshell Ndegeocello in 2018.
While it doesn't explicitly reference AIDS, “I Wonder If I Take You Home” unintentionally captures the hesitation and concern that infiltrated broader cultural conversations about sex while also pointing to a future where Puerto Rican young pop artists people could garner multi-genre mainstream success.
"I Wonder If I Take You Home" remains a touchstone of 1980s pop music, not only for the ground it broke for the Latin Freestyle, but the song also stands as a rhythmic artifact that reflects the anxiety Black and Latine young people in the mid-1980s experienced navigating relationships in a world forever changed by AIDS.

ZAMBONI PATENT 1949 “Ice Rink Resurfacing Machine”
By Miriam Kleiman, Public Affairs, in honor of Zamboni drivers Alex B (NGA's Sculpture Garden Ice Rink) and Uncle Hank (Northern MI University).
Alex rocks the Zamboni at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink, 12/29/22, image by Miriam Kleiman.
Ever wonder about the incredibly cool “Ice Rink Resurfacing Machine” (aka Zamboni)?
We’ve got the patent! See all 124 pages in our Online Catalog (NARA ID 117724382).
Thanks to the Zamboni, the ice was smooth enough for this talented monkey! See Ice Skating Chimpanzee, 1963 (The Unwritten Record).
Excerpt from the release sheet: SPORTS MONKEY SHINES! THIS CHIMP IS A GAY BLADE: Usually, summer is the whacky season, but this winter things aren’t on an even keel in Germany. They’ve taught a Chimp to Skate and he’s a real swinger! After some tricks “Archibald” leads a Conga that proves he’s a real gay blade with quite a line figure-8-atively.
“Ice Rink Resurfacing Machine” Patent file excerpts:
PROBLEM: "The maintenance of a satisfactorily smooth surface on the ice is one of the major problems in connection with the operation of a skating rink… The squeegees have no effect on the hard-frozen rough ice, and the ice therefore remains rough 'until the next time that it is scraped."
BEFORE the Zamboni: "Heretofore, the usual method of cleaning off and smoothing the surface of the ice has been to send attendants out onto the ice to sweep off the cut ice with scrapers or sweeps that are pushed ahead of them; while in other instances, the ice is scraped clean by scraper blades mounted on towed sleds towed sleds or on automotive vehicles such as the small, four-wheel drive vehicles formerly used in the military services and known popularly as the jeep In either case, after the surface of the ice has 'been scraped clean, a thin film of water is spread over the ice to fill in the cracks and low spots, and surplus water is then squeegeed away, usually by a number of attendants on skates, pushing the squeegees ahead of them…
GOAL of ZAMBONI: "[An] object of the invention is to provide a self-propelled vehicle that can be operated by one man, and which functions automatically to shave the ice, convey the shaved ice to a large receptacle attached to the vehicle, and then squeegee a thin film `of water over the surface of the ice so as to provide a like-new surface when the water has frozen."

Another long ask 😅 Do you have any thoughts on how Marissa and Alex's relationship (+Ryan's involvement) should've been like? Like obviously Ryan was gonna be in the picture and the one she had a superior connection with overall but what if MA were given time and space to breathe and how it would've looked like with RM's dynamic.
I do feel like the whole discussion around Marissa's sexuality had to be different. It was mostly just fetishizing (Seth) and invalidating (the whole phase talk with Julie- AND Kirsten who's supposed to be the supportive open-minded mom). Yeah it's a product of the time but it's also a product of homophobia (or specifically lesbophobia, with the male gaze thing).
I don't remember her ever finding any of the "gay" jokes funny (like Seth's jokes about Luke for shaving his chest) but she also knew Luke used gay and queer as insults at both Ryan and Seth but didn’t exactly say anything even though she was uncomfortable. I also find it interesting when in Season 3 Volchok makes a comment about something (prom? I can't remember rn) being gay in a derogatory manner and Marissa doesn’t look too comfortable but she also doesn’t say anything about it specifically. I guess what I'm trying to say is Marissa has had to see a lot of casual (and not eo casual) homophobia growing up AND after her realization/coming out but didn’t stand up to it for understandable reasons and that would've been an interesting thing to explore.
I'm in the middle of my s2 rewatch (specifically the MA storyline) so it's interesting you bring it up. I think, first off, that it was never in the cards for Marissa's sexuality to veer off course but I'm really glad it did. The MA arc is mostly done so well so credit where credit's due, but this isn't a show that was mapped out from the beginning. So it can't be tracked in s1 with her facial cues or anything. I do think there's an annoyance but passivity with Luke's bullshit comments that come from being a teen in the 2000s and also living in this conservative, isolated community (that is extremely pulled back in s2 so we don't get that kind of social commentary again, unfortunately). She calls Luke out but only to a certain extent. I think shit like that was just so commonplace in 2003 and especially in an insulated community such as that. 112 really touches on how big of an ~event~ it is that Luke's dad is gay.
Seth's homophobia and biphobia in 209 really tick me off, as does Kirsten's attitude in 214. Kirsten for the reasons you mention and Seth in particular because his schtick is supposed to be seen as funny and it just comes off horrendously offensive now. (As do AB's comments in the press at the time. Basically it seems all the men behind the scenes were getting their rocks off watching the 214 MA kiss.)
As for KV I think his casual homophobic comment and her specific reaction is more her feeling disillusioned with this guy she's choosing to spend time with than a deliberate nod to her identity. But of course it makes no sense that she goes back to him at the end of 322 after realizing she wants more for herself. That whole arc is designed to isolate and punish Marissa/Mischa from everyone else, though, so should be taken with a grain of salt.
I think, considering all the casual homophobia Marissa did in fact hear and see growing up, all that we see when she's 16 at least, it doesn't seem like that's impacted her all that much when it comes to exploring her feelings for Alex. But s2 gives her character so little to do beyond being angry/sad/aggrieved with Julie that it's hard to believe the writers were taking much of her history into context. Marissa's scene with Summer in 211 where she does some thinking about what it means to "graze noses" with someone you never would've guessed you'd want to graze noses with is done well, though.
If MA had been given a longer arc I would've liked to see Marissa move back home while staying in the relationship with Alex and seeing how that works afterward. Pushing that kind of dynamic on them so soon was their kiss of death, but so was making Ryan single again. It would've been cute to see Ryan do the pining a bit longer considering she pined for him until meeting Alex. I think the general framework of 'Marissa feels the emotional, historical pull to Ryan' thing is accurate to her character but it should've been stretched out to at least four or five episodes. Not two!

LGBTQ Book Recommendations
In the year that has seen the heartwarming second season of Heartstopper comes the news two school districts in the US states of Florida and Oregon have banned the graphic novels and a public library in Mississippi removed the works from the shelves claiming they were somehow “pornographic.” It never seems to fail; every time there is societal progress, you have a wave of those throwing up restrictions trying desperately to pull everything and everyone back.
This heinous attack on LGBTQ literature, works on the African American experience, and tragic historical events are why we fight back everyday to keep these works available for all who seek their content especially during Banned Books Week. It’s not about corrupting or grooming the youth; it’s about truth, love, life, compassion, and understanding one another. What follows are seven LGBTQ books by seven different authors you may want to consider reading beyond Heartstopper, Fence, and Love, Simon. Remember, just because your favorite book isn’t here doesn’t mean I didn’t like it or you shouldn’t give try. Always enrich your perspective by trying a variety of works in the plethora now available. Happy Banned Books Week!
1. Boy Like Me by Simon James Green – I first ran across this author when I read his book Alex in Wonderland a few years ago being greatly amused by the antics of boy working a summer job. It is very fitting to begin with this recent release set in a UK High School back in 1994 during Section 28 banning books on gay relationships. The main character, Jamie, is lead to such a disguised novel where he finds a connection to his own personal truths and to a mysterious other person who feels the same way. Will Jamie ever find this other person or will they be forever shunned by their small community? It’s always a important to remember where we’ve been so that we can better guide ourselves to where we need to be.
2. The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg – Two boys operate a food truck Coq Au Vinny for the summer out in the heat of Mesa, Arizona. Max, a baseball jock, is trying hard to forget a rough experience with a college boy while hanging out with his friends and working. Geeky Jordan, is trying to raise the money with his late father’s old food truck and keep his mother from spiraling while hanging out with his gal pals. Along the way they find friendship and love while working through their past traumas and current struggles. Easily one of my favorites.
3. Check, Please! Book 1: #Hockey by Ngozi Ukazu – Join baking vlogger Erik “Bitty” Bittle from Georgia as he makes his way through the first two years playing hockey at Samwell University in New England. Originally an online comic, this first volume in a two part set explores Bitty’s time interacting with the team and getting closer with their Captain, Zimmerman. This was a charming story with entertaining characters, and, of course, the love of hockey. Be sure to also read Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks & Scones.
4. Lions Legacy by L.C. Rosen – Tennessee “Tenny” Russo had tried to leave his adventuring days with his father’s reality show behind and have a normal life with his mom in Greenwich Village. Two years later, his boyfriend is cheating on him, his “Good Upstanding Queer” friends don’t care, and his dad comes back into his life with a potential lead on the Rings of the Sacred Band of Thebes. Tenny could stay miserable in New York or join his father in Greece to recover a lost piece of queer history to share with the world. A wonderful, thrilling story heavily influenced by Indiana Jones exploring struggle of keeping LGBT history from being swept under the rug or modified to fit a heteronormative viewpoint.
5. Thunder by Dylan James – Teenage Grant Peters and Logan Summers have been long neighbors and rivals on the rodeo circuit in the upper plains of the United State or Canada. With his parents thinking of selling the ranch due to a drop in profits, Grant is desperate to find a way to keep competing with his beloved horse Thunder. He stumbles across evidence of a cougar attack and is drawn into an investigation along the property line with his nemesis, Logan. Along the way, the boys develop a connection and uncover a secret hidden from both families. Will they make it out alive?
6. Howl by Shaun David Hutchinson – When Virgil Knox stumbled into the town center of Merritt, Florida battered, bloody, and raving about the monster that attacked him, nobody would believe him, not even his own grandparents. Already struggling to make friends in his dad’s hometown after his parents’ divorce, Virgil knows what he saw and finds himself reliving that night. Can Virgil find a way to move on with his life? Will the monster find him again? Is he on his way to becoming one himself?
7. In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens – Prince Tal has a secret. Fire mages are not to be trusted ever since his ancestor used the ability to fight wars against the other kingdoms and practitioners of other magic, the ability has been shunned. The mysterious castaway Athlen also has a secret that enables him to somehow survive the deep oceans. Together the boys will survive pirates, kidnapping plots, shapeshifters, and a grand political plot threatening the kingdom and Tal’s sister, the queen. Can they stop a war before it’s too late?

If Alex Summers comes out of Dark X-Men without some consequential alteration to his gender or sexuality I will eat my shorts.
Alex, currently:
Just insisted he and Maddie are "the same" and threw over his life as an X-Man to help her rule Limbo, which Maddie then characterized as a place that holds "the spirits no one wants to face. The parts of us we condemn to darkness. Nothing heals in darkness."
Most recently fucked a robot he perceived to be Maddie.
Spent the previous two years before Dark Web being manipulated by others for their nefarious or petty purposes in ways that left him physically & emotionally traumatized and isolated.
Was extremely sympathetic to robots and clones in an era when they were persona non grata.
Has a dissociative disorder that has not been explicitly resolved on panel yet.
Spent two years being paralleled with the most Wife Guy of genderweird WLWs , Mystique, during a period where Maddie's trans subtext feels its most intentional.
Alex, historically:
Is prone to fucking Scott & Bobby's exes (Lorna, Maddie, Annie)
Is prone to fucking people already in relationships when he meets them (Lorna, Maddie, Annie)
Tends to fuck MILFs (Maddie, Annie, Jan)
Feels deeply alone even when he doesn't have "good" reasons to be.
Once was the reason an energy vampire turned into a pterosaur man (Sauron).
And he's about to be on a team with:
Bobby's teen crush, but the version of Warren who experienced nonconsensual amputation and body modification and the isolation that creates.
A man married to a woman with a history of being unable to touch people. Remy's also extremely popular with X-Twitter Gays.
A robotic replica of Logan (y'know, the guy who is at minimum Scott's metamour, if not his boyfriend) named Albert, best known for hanging out with a robot little girl named Elsie Dee.
Kurt Wagner's demonic dad.
A guy who keeps fusing bodily with his sister and often walks around in a girl shaped body and who is an energy vampire (Emplate).
A guy who is part flesh and part machine and can sculpt his body any way he pleases and who can mind-control people by adding bits of his body to theirs (Zero).
Alex is absolutely surrounded by dudes who are exactly his type or who can be used for metaphors for transness as a result of Weird Body Stuff. There has never been a better time for him to be established as a closet case.
#alex summers#dark x men 2023#havok#alex summers is either a gay man or a transfemme and that is that on that

Okay so first of all: what I wish we’d seen in the movie (I’m gonna post what I liked in a bunch of parts because there’s so much)
Rule 1: don’t get caught
Henry swearing at cakegate
Ellen talking about riding the dead kid sympathy to second term
Star Wars references
Alex giving Henry his phone number/and no booty calls
‘Cornbread knows my sins’
‘Buy a summer home in Majorca with the turkey’
Not gonna lie I kinda wish we had Alex freaking out more over being bi cause that was like a huuuuge part of his character
Okay I take back what I said about Alex’s only minor sexuality crisis that hesitation before saying he’s bi said so much more then words coul
‘I am very very gay’
‘Ask me if I’m afraid of the crown’
PowerPoint!!!
Oscar only saying he knew about Henry at the lake house
Karaoke in la with Bea!
And obvs just June in general
Pyramus and Thisbe note
Alex yelling at his window
‘When have I ever since the first moment I touched you pretended to be anything less than in love with you?’
‘I’ll leave’ ‘good’ ‘as soon as you tell me to leave’ although honestly I kinda like the dialogue we got
YOUR SONG
Alex’s reaction to the emails being leaked
Actual reasoning for them being called the Waterloo letters
Henry standing at his side for his speech ‘like a politicians spouse’ or whatever the quote is??
‘History will remember us’
Bea dumping tea into Phillips lap and saying all the cocaine she did must have messed with her reflexes
The rally/Alex’s speech
The reason behind the email leak being richards and not just because Alex wouldn’t sleep with a guy
Catherine becoming an actual mother again
Okay now all the negative stuff is out of the way

“Dead End: Paranormal Park” – An Inclusive Horror Series For All
Dead End: Paranormal Park follows the story of two teens, Barney and Norma, who work at a haunted theme park during the summer. They face zombies, witches, and other challenges along the way.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog on Feb. 5, 2023, and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-fifth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on July 13, 2022.
Dead End: Paranormal Park is an animated supernatural horror fantasy series created by Hamish Steele, a British gay autistic comics writer. It is based on Steele's DeadEndia graphic novel series and his 2014 "Dead End" animated short.
As a warning, this recommendation discusses some spoilers for season one of Dead End: Paranormal Park.
Barney (left) and Norma (right) are in shock after learning they might be eaten.
Dead End: Paranormal Park centers around Barney Guttman (Zack Barack), a gay Jewish trans man, and Norma Khana, a woman of Pakistani descent who is autistic. She was described as "neurodiverse" in the show's official press release. They show up for the same job at a haunted house in Phoenix Parks, an amusement park owned by Pauline Phoenix (Miss Coco Peru). It is much different than what they imagined.
17-year-olds Barney and Norma are almost possessed by the demon king Temeluchus (Alex Brightman) but Barney's animal companion, Pugsley (Brightman) saves Barney. His body is taken over, with Barney and Norma working together to trap Temeluchus inside a photograph, and causing Pugsley to gain the power to talk. In the process, they meet Courtney (Emily Osment), a thousand-year-old demon who gives them both jobs as security guards. She has a loyalty to Temeluchus, vowing to help him no matter what.
This is only scratching the surface. Barney has a family he feels that he can't trust after they didn't defend him (and his trans identity) when his grandma said mean and hurtful things about him. So, he begins living at the park instead of coming home. He feels that Pugsley is his only family. This contrasts with Norma, who seems to have a more loving family.
In later episodes, it is revealed that Barney has a crush on a man of Vietnamese descent, Logan "Logs" Nguyen (Kenny Tran). Also introduced is Badyah "Deathslide" Hassan (Kathreen Khavari), a Muslim of Iranian descent. Norma seems to have a crush on her. Barney's younger brother, Patrick Guttman (Tucker Chandler), appears later.
As the series moves forward, the protagonists face more challenges, like creepy old mascots, who cause terror but seem misunderstood. Norma's obsession with the park and its founder makes her helpful in more ways than one. This is especially the case when Pugsley, who can now talk, releases the mascots when he feels left behind by Barney. These themes are integral to this young adult animation.
Through it all, Barney finds a chosen family in the park. As he tells Norma, it is a place that can be himself, choosing if, and when, he tells people he is trans. It is different from when he is at home or a school, where everyone knows he is trans, causing extra pressure. This series expands trans storytelling in animation and LGBTQ+ storytelling. After all, Barney's voice actor, Zach Barack, is a trans man in real-life.
It is different for Norma, who struggles with social awkwardness. As it turns out, what Steele went through as an autistic (and gay) person himself informed the writing of her character. This makes the character even more genuine than autistic characters like Stephanie "Stephie" Bondu in Assigned Male or Entrapta in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Norma after facing her anxiety
In one episode, we learn the fears and anxieties of all the characters when a supposed guru claims he is there to "help" employees. Norma breaks people out of their fear-dreams and realizes her biggest fear is anxiety.
She reveals that her fear world is the real world. It causes the skull to crack, killing the instructor and making him explode. While this may seem gory for an animated show, it is nothing in comparison to the bloodiness of The Executioner and Her Way of Life or the bloody fights in Helluva Boss.
This contrasts with the fear of Barney, who does not fear his grandma, but his parents, feeling they don't have his back and won't support him. In the end, Norma confides in Barney, Courtney, and Pugsley that working at the park is her dream job.
Like any supernatural series, magic plays an important part. Courtney sees Puglsey, who has a shard of the demon kind in him, as a way to get home. This goes hand in hand with horror, like children possessed by a night spirit in one episode. But there can be levity.
The night spirit, Cheryl, and its component, Linda, the day spirit, are sisters, and dislike people labeling them as "hags". They leave to go to a place that is less judgy. This is not at all surprising considering that the series takes inspiration from the Addams Family, especially Adams Family Values, as tweets from Steele indicate. Pugsley is even named after Pugsley from the Addams Family, but also he is a pug dog, and Steele had a guinea pig with the same name.
The series sends the message that you should accept people for who they are and not make any assumptions, and be respectful of other people's identities. (Shows with similar messages include Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra)
With Courtney, a character who is unaware of gender and uses any pronouns, according to the show's creator, as a protagonist, the series makes demons a big part of the story. She wants to go home to the demon realm, leading Barney, Pugsley, and Norma to even play on a game show, Hox's Castle. They do this in hopes of making Courtney feel better about herself, although they have to go through pain along the way, including Barney coming back from the dead.
Later in the series, Courtney finally gets back to the demon world. She gets what she wants after making a Faustian bargain with Pauline. She realizes it is not all she thought it would be. It is depressing and she is more alone than she is on Earth. So, she comes back.
On that note, love is an important theme in the series, either romantic love or familial love. Barney struggles with both, but especially the latter. By the end of the series, he has made amends with his parents, who commit to doing better and making the house more welcoming.
In the case of the former, he tries to express his feelings toward Logs. A Black lesbian couple at one point, and possession of his body at another point, try to help. In the final part of the series, Logs helps get him out of jail and both agree to start dating.
Norma, as the socially awkward one, slowly expresses her feelings toward Badyah. As Steele revealed in a message to a fan, Norma likes multiple genders and is not straight. Some reviewers called her a "neurodivergent POC lesbian" or simply said she has a queer relationship with another girl (Badyah). In any case, another season would likely expand on this relationship.
From left to right: Badyah, Norma, Courtney, Pugsley, Barney, and Logs
All the characters in this series have traumatic experiences. Even Barney admits he has a therapist at one point. They are almost killed or maimed on various occasions. Worse is when their souls exit their bodies when they take possession of Barney.
They learn the dark secrets of the park and who is behind the disappearance of the Pauline impersonators. At first, it seems like Barborah (Karen Maruyama), the custodian, is behind it, but it's more complex than that. They learn, when traveling through her that the real Pauline died. Someone else replaced her during Pauline's first commercial.
On that point, the series criticizes the cult of celebrity worship. Pauline is not the happy and goody two shoes type of character she seems. Instead, she is a bit of a monster, a phantom if you will. The park is not what it appears to be, with connections to the demon world and elsewhere.
There are occasional breaks in the fourth wall. Courtney says, in episode 7, she had "so much character development" since the first episode. This is akin to Peridot's retort in Steven Universe: The Movie after taking out the rejuvenator: "I could have lost all my character development".
The show's next-to-last episode is completely a musical. This is like many Steven Universe episodes since creator Rebecca Sugar is a big lover of musicals from what I've read. In some ways, it reminded me of the Elena of Avalor episode "Sweetheart's Day" when Armando causes everyone to sing throughout the episode. It also made me think of the anime series Healer Girl focused on a group of girls who have the power to heal people with their songs.

Similar to gen:LOCK and The Executioner and Her Way of Life, internal mental struggles, either with real or imagined beasts, are something the characters have to endure. It is similar to the latter in the sense that it is queer and gay in many ways.
The end of Dead End somewhat echoes the final episodes of High Guardian Spice. The latter series features two trans characters, Caraway and Snapdragon, the latter working through her transition throughout the series. Not surprisingly, the series creator, Raye Rodriguez, happily supported Dead End, along with other animated series like Amphibia and Arcane.
In Dead End, many of the characters are turned into stone. This is like the town of Lyngarth was accidentally turned to stone by a terrasphere by the catgirl, Olive, in High Guardian Spice. Different from that series is the fact that Dead End includes spirits like Pauline who come to save the park, and a demon king. This causes a demon general, Tammie, to retreat and flee in defeat.
A second season could pick up where the first season left off. It could be in the aftermath of Pauline being zapped out of existence by angels, who are about to begin their "visit" (assault). There could be more on a romantic relationship between Logs and Barney, who kiss in the final episode. The same could be the case for growing romantic feelings between Norma and Badyah.
Having said that, I need to tell you that Netflix, more than any other streaming service, has declared war on its animation department. The controversial series, Q-Force, and many high-profile series in development were canceled. Before this, series like City of Ghosts, Centaur World, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and Kid Cosmic, came to an end.
As such, the prospect for Dead End's renewal looks grim, as do many other animated series currently on the platform, with a few exceptions. Hopefully, Netflix will see the value of LGBTQ+ storylines and a show with a diversity of experiences and identities, especially when it comes to trans stories, and continue it. But, I'm not too confident in them doing so.
Debuting on 16 June 2022, all 10 episodes of Dead End: Paranormal Park season one are currently streaming on Netflix.

do Alex and Kenny ever get married? :3
rubs my hands together like a fly
YES. and i have a LOT to say about it
first of all !!!
it takes Alex and Kenny a while to get married. like, five, six years? because they both have some complicated feelings about marriage. kenny’s one of those people who doesn’t necessarily agree with marriage as a concept, whereas alex feels weird about the concept of getting married while being in a gay relationship. which is obviously something he works through, and then eventually he manages to convince kenny to marry him (lol). however, it’s kenny who proposes to alex. and alex cries his eyes out like a baby, obviously.
SO !!!!!!!
immediately prior to the wedding, haley, emily and evelyn help alex get ready. haley is STRESSED TO HELL, because she is so determined to make everything perfect. but she’s also an emotional mess, because like, HER BEST FRIEND IS GETTING MARRIED. (also, in the alex & kenny canon, abby and haley are girlfriends and get married a couple of years before alex and kenny do.)
shane and abby help kenny get ready!!!
kenny does not know how to tie a tie. because he is a fucking idiot. so shane does it for him, and abby does kenny’s hair!!! for kenny, the pre-wedding preparations are a lot more chill, tbh. he’s personally less anxious than alex is, and abby and shane are just being silly and cracking jokes and stuff. good vibes
the wedding:
they get married. on the beach, in the summer. emily made alex’s suit — they chose to both wear blue, because it’s kenny’s favourite colour :’) kenny doesn’t like wearing suits though, so they came to a compromise and decided that he didn’t have to wear a jacket.
sam is kenny’s best man, which is the most hilarious thing of all time, because sam and kenny have… history. he didn’t initially ask sam, he asked abby, but abby suggested sam instead because it would be funny. so. yeah sam is the best man and everyone makes jokes about it all day.
evelyn walks alex down the aisle. jas is the flower girl (starts crying)
here is (very sloppily drawn JHSKSJ) abby and haley being VERY proud of themselves because they entirely take personal responsibility for alex and kenny’s relationship. AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO !!!!
id like to add that like . the wedding is very emotional for them, because kenny never thought anyone would ever love him enough to marry him, and alex never thought he’d be comfortable in his sexuality to the point where he could not only be in a relationship with a man, but MARRIED to one. like…. i wanna cry just thinking about it tbh because they both went through a lot to get here and im so happy for them 😭😭😭😭😭😭 talking about them like they’re real people wtf
i will BE QUIET now but thank you for asking me this question i had a lot of fun with it 😭🫶🏻 alex and kenny my beloveds….
