Replying to tags: I mean, I don't have a SUPER good answer for that, but my justification for it in the thing that I'm writing is that her TARDIS is broken in some capacity at the moment so that she can only travel around the planet, but not off world or through time.
Or, who knows? Because of the nature of time travel, she could be traveling around, but maybe Alegaesia she has set up as her main base, kind of like how the Doctor always seems to be drawn to such a specific time and place on Earth. 🤷

The Inheritance Cycle Series Review
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini is a 4 book long YA Fantasy Series. Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance are the names of the individual books. I listened to the books in English on Storytel, but I know that all together they are 2,894 pages.
It all begins when Eragon is walking through the woods looking for food and finds a mysterious stone. Being poor, he thinks that he may convice someone to buy the pretty stone off of him or trade it for some food. He brings it into town, but no one seems to be willing to take it from him since he found it in the Spine. Suddenly, one night at home, a screeching sound are heard, and the stone begins to crack.
I rate Eragon 4.5/5 stars, because it was an amazing introduction into the series. We are just as new to the world Eragon sets foot in as he is, and those book in my opinion are the best. We learn all of the thing he does at the same time. We never break from Eragon's POV, so with all that is happening in the world, the reader is just as clueless, and shocks of revealing come at the same time. To me it's stunning at how well Eragon is able to learn while on the road. And there is one death in the book that actually already made me cry as I cared for him. One thing I disliked in the beginning was Saphira's voice, since she is a woman I expected it to be more graceful instead of gravelly. But than again she is who she is.
I rate Eldest 5/5 stars, because while with most series there is a second book syndrome where it's of less quality, I didn't find it with this series. I just wonder where the story will take me. One of my dislikes is that I can't see the names of places and ancient language written down. So this makes it much harder for me to connect places to races and see how they are travelling across the world. I do like the detail in the training Eragon and Saphira get from Oromis and Glaedr, all while other POV's are introduced which makes the story move forwards even more; namely Roran and Nasuada. Both Eragon and Roran experience great character growth in this book, and it pleases me greatly. Another thing I find quite interesting is how both this book and the first have major battles as their climax. While in the first it seemed like a natural course for the plot, in this one less so. Nonetheless I must say the end and the battle that takes place, are incredibly well written, and made it the rating that it is. Now that I have listened to over 20 hours of audiobook, I must say that all together I don't find Saphira's voice as troubling as I did in the beginning of this venture.
I rate Brisingr 4/5 stars, because I had to take two breaks while listening to the books. I don't know why, but continuing after Eldest just didn't feel right. I foccused on other series before coming back a couple of weeks later. I must say that the beginning was really interesting with Eragon and Roran on their own journey to hellgrind. It really showed their brotherly bond and Eragon's resourcefulness. There were also a couple of scenes that stirred my emotions; 1. When Saphira mends Isidar Mithrim, the rose saphire of the Dwarves, it gave me chills. They way the mending and the result was described was so beautiful. 2. When Glaedr shares the dragons most valued secret, it brought me close to tears. It was described earlier as the most powerful and unique things, and to hand it over was such a deeply personal gesture of trust. Near the end many important backstories are revealed, which still keeps it all interesting and it gives an understanding for certain characters. The deaths at the end made me ugly cry, and the worst thing; I sat on a train with people looking at me. Awkward.
I rate Inheritance 5/5 stars, because this was the most amazing ending to a series I had in a long while. First of all I think Roran and Katrina are so cute together, and they are truly a relationship goal with how far they are willing to go for each other in their love. The battles and the seiges of Aroughs and Dras-Leona, and eventually Urû'bean as well, are describes with such detail that it feels real and dangerous as we get both the POV of Roran, the human with a hammer, and Eragon, the Rider with a flaming sword. They are Aroughs is full of ingenuity from Roran and Dras-Leona is full of fear for Eragon. Even while this is the last book in the Series, we get to know so many new detail about Alegaesia. Creatures like Snalglí and the Nïdwahl make their first appearance. We see Saphira's POV, where she calls humans round-ear two legs and Elves point-ear two legs. And Urgals call humans, the hornless. I found the best name for a sword ever and it belongs to Angela, the herbalist. Albitr, or as she likes to call it; Tinkledeath. I laughed every time when that name came up. Later on we get to see Galbatorix in the hall of the Soothsayer, where he tells Nasuada his past plans and actions. We get to see a glimps of his mind, and it's both terrifying and enlightening.
The ending is what I likes most. And I don't want to spoil too much, but for the last couple of chapters we see the aftermath of the battle of Urû'bean. A new monarch chosen, cities claimed, trades made. The new problems that arose are dealt with and resolved. The last thing we know is that Eragon travels east, with the greatest treasure Alegaesia has ever known.
The Inheritance Cycle - 4.5 Stars.
I give it this because while many aspects of the series is amazing; plot, side plots, characters, world building. There are somethings that bothered me, especially in the beginning and even throughtout; the dragons voices. They are rough and coarse while I somehow expected them to be smooth and elegant. Yet it always fit their character. The pacing was incredible. Even while I still don't know exactly where one book ended and the next began, because I read them all so shortly after another. My favorite main character is Saphira. The scenes where she dis extraordinary things were incredibly well writing and her POV's made me laugh. My favorite minor character is Sloan, because he got exactly what he deserved. The covers are absolutely incredible as they each depict a dragon alive during the series. Eragon: Saphira. Eldest: Thorn. Brisingr: Glaedr. Inheritance: Fírnen. The only one left out is Shruiken.
If you have any questions send me an ask here on tumblr or tweet me. If there are any books that you want to recommend, be sure to let me know!
P.S. There is a companion book for this series, Eragon’s Guide to Alegaesia. It addresses the reader as a new rider and it has some facts about Alegaesia. It has 3d elements in it, such as fur or cloth. Fold open notes and even the future predicting knuckle bones. It’s not a must to have, but a nice addition to your bookshelf.
P.S.S. There is talk of a 5th book in this series. Can’t wait!!!

Fic writer tag game thing
I was tagged to do this by @rockymountainrattlesnake--you rock!
How many works do you have on a03?
5 at the moment. Someday I will finish the Martha Jones character study I’m working on...
What’s your total a03 word count?
107,733 officially, but one of those is an exerpt taken from a longer fic, which puts me at 105,782, and then we’d need to subtract out the poetry exerpts in Promises, so...
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
HA.
But I have Promises to Keep
The World in Ten Seconds
Growing Where Planted
Suspended Between Moments
Black and White are Also Colors
The order seems very logical.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Pretty much always. Sometimes I forget and write back months later, but I get really enthusiastic when people like my work (I swear I will answer my inbox soon!) Most of my stuff involves some degree of character analysis, so I enjoy continuing that discussion in the comments. (And compliments make my day, not gonna lie.)
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
That would be The World in Ten Seconds, I think. Looking at my work (published and unpublished), it’s a lot easier to be angsty when I’m doing an analysis-focused piece, because those tend to be snapshots in time. Narrative stories tend to end on a more hopeful note.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
But I Have Promises to Keep by virtue of being finished. It’s not totally happy, but there’s a lot of catharsis in there.
Do you write crossovers? if so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Yes because my brain connects dots fast enough to make even a kangaroo court cringe. However, I haven’t published/finished any. I do have a Discworld/Doctor Who piece that’s a meditation on death, survivors, and moving on. The title will involve the word “Grandfathers.”
Then of course there’s the Q/Master epic enemies-to-lovers that I don’t have the guts to write.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No! Very grateful for that. There was one awkward incident involving a commenter shaming non-commenters, but that’s behind us now.
Do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Nope.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of...? Seems unlikely TBH
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
well...there was that one Eragon set-in-Alegaesia OC epistolary back in high school...
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
hm hm hm hm. So I’ve found that I really like very very close platonic intimacy, except that sometimes looks like “you are the most important person in my life and I would die for you but we haven’t put a name to this thing we have and we don’t really kiss etc. but we might hold hands/cuddle/whatever and it doesn’t mean anything and I know random mundane things about you like your shoe size or soda preference (did I mention I would die for you?)” which sounds kind of like shipping?
So I’d have to say Nine/Rose or angsty Ten/Rose, with an emphasis on healing (see: RockyMountainRattlesnake’s Polyergus, A Wretched Ark, Terminarch, V762CAS’s Than All the Blue in the World).
I usually stick more or less with canon in most fandoms--if it’s not there, I don’t/can’t imagine it happening since romance is kind of weird and foreign to me. I tend to go for established relationships rather than “will-they-won’t they” stuff (Tevye/Golde, Vimes/Sybil etc. Though if we’re going musicals, I do actually like Elphaba/Fiero. I’ve never read anything about it, though.)
OH! I forgot! I don’t know if this counts, but I’m obsessed with sixbeforelunch’s Vulcan OCs, T'Lin and Veral, in the Pi’maat series.
Also the very specific way Erik/Christine works in Antiquarianne’s Phantom of the Opera piece The Sum of Earthly Happiness.
What’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish the Grandfathers piece...it’s Discworld-primary from a stylistic perspective, and uh...I am not Terry Pratchett. I want to finish it, but I’ve got to be in the zone (reading a lot of Discworld stuff to get a feel for the style) and have SO MUCH PATIENCE because mimicking him is like writing poetry, if poetry was an accepted form of forced confession to be read for ridicule on live TV.
What are your writing strengths?
Purple prose.
yes i know that’s not supposed to be a compliment
.
Seriously, though I do tend to wax fruity in my writing, and I have a lot of fun with it. I think I’m also pretty good at writing conversations and arguments.
What are your writing weaknesses?
hehehehe
kill your darlings.
Editing? Who is she?
Which is funny, because I also do that stupid thing where getting words-on-paper is more painful than drawing a fishhook out of the fish’s throat when it’s mangled deep in the flesh. Is it perfectionism? I don’t know. Not in the anxious sense, certainly, because I can’t be chuffed to do a line edit before publishing. It’s more like I have two modes:
“Susan mad Grandfather confused insert Wrinkle In Time reference exept Uriel weird out of context IT vs keys of Marius brains fight”
or
“He’d known what Jackie was going to pull before Rose even passed on the invite, and he went and acted like Rose’d saddled him with an old ticket stub fished from her pocket. Trifling. Something you tossed in the first bin you saw. You think pretending it was only ever ‘her choice’ will wash away the guilt when you finally kill her?
That and...actually writing. Lost my mojo a while back and haven’t been able to get back into a routine since. Balancing life stuff and creative hobbies is a work in progress.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think I generally would limit it to well-known exclamations or phrases for the most part. I’m familiar enough to use some Mandarin and not utterly fail, but I know I don’t have the rhythm or grace of a native speaker and it’s not something I have in mind to pursue right now.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Hm. Fortunately that is all tucked away in hand-written notebooks before I got perfection-scared off of writing past the 7th grade. I’ve been doing the whole fanfiction in my head consciously since 2nd grade, but the first stuff I think I wrote down was either Snape stuff or Eragon/Alagaesia stuff. Not exactly worldshaking.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
The World in Ten Seconds! Gah, I’m so proud of that thing. Also I really adore Black and White are Also Colors, though some of my favorite bits aren’t published yet. That one’s a lot more idiosyncratic...a lot of infodumping about color and language and ideas in translation. I’ll probably get the next chapter of that up before I’m able to start working on Growing Where Planted.
Tagging (feel free to answer or not as you have desire or energy--also I’m sorry if I have misremembered your fic-writing tendencies or lack thereof) @pazithigallifreya @phoenixrisesoncemore @forever-food-and-fandoms@loupettes @elialys @onlycosmere

pulsar, wormhole, atair and prokyone?
Thanks love!
pulsar: when do you feel truly alive?
Either at night, when it’s really late and its super quiet and i have soft music playing. it’s just *chefs kiss*
Or on my nonno’s farm, with my family standing against the gate as we joke around and watch the sunset.
wormhole: what is the shadiest/most illegal thing you have ever done?
3 times we have packed 11 people into a 5 seater car..... (I’ve done quite a few illegal stuff sooo)
atair: why is your favourite book, well, your favourite? do you have a favourite quote from it?
My favourite book would have to be Brisingr. I love it because the author is so poetic and he made me so enveloped within this book. My favourite quote from it would have to be:
“Does it matter Shadeslayer? A god is a god, regardless of what he comes from” and also “That we live in a strange world and I’ll be lucky if i ever understand more than a portion of it.”
prokyon: grab the nearest book, to to page 145 and give us the first sentence.
“Do well to remember who are and what you mean to the races of Alegaesia.”
space asks cuz space is neat

6. Top 3 favorite movies? 🎬
This question will haunt me, but I’d have to say Eragon, Constantine, and National Treasure.
I watched Eragon when I was a youngster in theaters and didn’t realize it was a book series until high school. That’s when I picked it up and became a even bigger fan of the world of Alegaesia and of Christopher Paolini. Constantine, which I also didn’t know, was based off of a character from the HellBlazer comics and that movie also introduced me to those comics. Also, I liked Keanu Reeves so it was a win-win for me. I personally believe he didn’t do too bad at portraying John either. As for National Treasure… Nicholas Cage. What can I say?

June 2019 Book Haul
Since I got some extra money from my job I decided to spend some on more books! As me being Dutch, I didn't want to spend too much money. In total I spend 28,50 euro. I got them from Boekenfestijn.com, the same people I got my books from in January.
Let me first discuss the Dutch books:
-Eragons gids tot Alegaësia (Eragon's guide to Alegaesia) By Christopher Paolini. It's full of knowledge, small notes and even 3D textures. It's beyond my wildest imaginations, and it certainly resparked my joy and I will continue with Bisingr (Book #3.) - Shadow (Skuggan) by Petrus Dahlin and Lars Johansson. Shadow is a young woman from west-afrika who travels to stockholm Sweden to escape a thousand year conflict, only to meet two modern teens who become fascinated by her and are willing to help resolve the conflict. -Dans van de Tijger (The Water Rat of Wanchai) by Ian Halimton. Ava Li is a financial detective who goes to Hong Kong to help her uncle when 5 million pound disappears. She is trained in martial arts and has a weakness for Louis Vuitton bags. -En Toen Waren Er Nog Maar... (And Then There Were None) by Agatha Christie. Ten people are invited to a house on a deserted island, but their host never appears. That is when it happens, one by one, they disappear. How? Why? Who?
I also got three books in English that really intrigued me. Here they are:
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. When the daughter of Henrik Vanger disappears, Mikael Blomkvist is put on the case. While being a journalist he has an eye for mystery and them being uncovered. He also meets Lisbeth Salander, a delinquent and dangerous Security specialist who assists him in the investigation. -The Two Towers By J.R.R. Tolkien. The second book in the Lord of the Rings. I don't own the other copies yet, but I feel that it won't take long! -The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri. Two brothers who are inseparable during childhood get torn apart when the Vietnam War reaches them in Calcutta India. One moves to the US, the other stays to join the rebellion. Will they see each other again?
The very last book I technically got in July, but I as I will suspect that the next book haul will not be for several months, I will include it here. It had been looking at me for almost two weeks, from the window of the bookstore I pass every day to work. Last Tuesday I decided to get if it was still in the store, and I got the last one. De Kronieken van Narnia (the Chronicles of Narnia) by C. S. Lewis. This book contains all 7 stories set in Narnia: 1. The Magician's Nephew. 2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. 3. The Horse and his Boy. 4. Prince Caspian. 5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. 6. The Silver Chair. 7. The Last Battle. I've already started making my way through this 1000 page beast, and I plan to read one story every two weeks or so.
After looking at all of them, I see a pattern emerging. I'm getting more and more into the mystery and detective genre, and I don't mind. If you have any questions send me an ask here on tumblr or tweet me.
