“ An apple orchard orchard seriously.” Jack huffed as he followed behind you carrying a basket filled with delicious apples. You were going to use the apples to make caramel apples and a few other sweet treats. You looked at your husband with a smile, it was nice to see him in the civilian world, even though he was a bit grumpy.

“Yes my love, it's for tonight.”. You let out a delightful giggle as he playfully rolled his eyes. At last, he caught up with you and tenderly embraced you in his arms. You reciprocated his hug, leaning in to plant a soft, loving kiss upon his lips.

“Fine but I’m picking the movies.” He mumbled into your lips, and you of course were fine with this.

“Alright then it’s settled, Let’s go grab some more apples so we can have a variety.”

Hand in hand the both of you walked around the orchard admiring the spooky decorations and taking photos with the wooden cutouts.

“Hey Jack look at this one!” With a gleeful squeal, you admired the cutout of two captivating pumpkins. Eagerly, you positioned the Polaroid on the stool graciously provided by the orchard for everyone's convenience. Hastily setting the timer, you dashed to secure your spot just in time for the picture. As the Polaroid captured the moment, you hurried to retrieve your snapshot from the camera, excitement brimming within you.

You and Jack looked down at the photo, and saw two people in love. He kissed your forehead, and pulled you closer to him. So he could wrap an arm around you, while the both of you made it to barn.

Silena: This year, me and Charlie did couple’s costumes! Beauty and the Beast! We were amazing. I did the sewing, he put it all together, and our costumes were packed with tech-y surprises. Oh my God, you should have seen us!

Chris: I can confirm. They would have won any costume competition with that. It was incredible.

Alabaster: But how about you, Chris? What did you go as? Away from us…

Chris: Well. *shrugs* Chris Kratt.

Ethan: I KNEW IT! Al, I expect my treats!

Silena: Chris’s costume was awesome as well! Charlie helped him with the vest. It’s not ready to be used, per se, but it still looked very cool!

Silena: Aaand, boys, how did Halloween go on Andromeda? Did you have fun?

Alabaster: *brightents up, grinning broadly* Well, since Halloween is my mother’s special thing, we get a pass at celebrating it big time. Hecate deserves to be honored, no? Ethan and I -breaking a long and uncreative habit of me dressing as a witch and him as a pirate- went as Alice and the Cheshire Cat. I still can’t believe I convinced him to wear that costume.

Ethan: I have never worn so much blue and ribbons in my life, but, I mean, it was fun.

Alabaster: It was! We gave away candy to the younger members, had a ceremony for Hecate…

Ethan: *giggles*

Alabaster: … I showed you guys some spooky magic…

Ethan: Your costume was great. The teeth? They almost looked real! And that dumb bell at your neck, God, it kept making annoying sounds as you skipped around. Still better than a witch again, though. And I’m definitely glad I gave up dressing as a pirate. The jokes are not funny.

Alabaster: Well, maybe if you wanted to stop being compared to a pirate, you wo stop living on a boat with an eyepatch. Just a thought…

Ethan: I’m going to steal your corn candy.

Alabaster: NOPE.

Alabaster: *after a moment of silence* I sort of wish you guys would have been here too.

Batman: The Long Halloween

🎃 Grote paniek ten huize Levisgeekstuff in 1996. Juniorpress (toen dus niet meer onder de Baldakijn Boeken vlag) was in de reeks Batman Special begonnen met het fantastische The Long Halloween. Helaas werd het verhaal na 2 nummers al afgebroken. Blijkbaar verkocht het niet goed. Straf, want dit blijft toch één van de beste Batman verhalen aller tijden. Gelukkig bracht RW Lion in 2014 alsnog het hele verhaal uit in het Nederlands, en dan nog wel in een knappe hardcover editie én dit keer met Nederlandstalige titel 'De Lange Halloween' 👻.

Folge 71 ist das besser spät als nie erschienene Halloween-Special . Dafür wird erstmals die Bibi Blocksberg Reihe verlassen, da es außer die Vampire keine geeignete Folge gibt, und stattdessen die Bibi und Tina Folge 50, das Kürbisfest besprochen, da diese beschreibt, wie Halloween und die gesamte Kürbissaison in Estland gefeiert wird. Bibi und Tina retten die üppige Kürbisernte vom Mühlenhofbauern vor dem Riesen-prügikast und planen mit ihren neuen Freund:innen, den Geschwistern Ralf und Reni, ein Herbsternte-Ferienabschluss-Kürbisfest. Die Tierärztin Dr. Gudrun Spitzweg soll den Vieren sowie Freddy und Alex beim Kochen zur Hand gehen.

Ihr erfahrt, welche Rolle Ralfs und Renis älterer Bruder Uwe spielt und warum dieser das Kürbisfest fast verhindert hätte, was auf dem Kürbisfest gespielt werden soll und was alles in der Küche gezaubert wird (ohne Hexerei) und welche Vierbeiner außer Pferden noch in der Geschichte vorkommen. Parallel dazu erfahrt ihr, wie ich meinen ersten Kürbistag in Estland, der "kõrvitsapäev", verbracht hatte.

Auch hier finden sich zahlreiche estnische Spuren. Kürbis heißt "kõrvits", Kürbisfest "kõrvitsapidu", Kürbissuppe "kõrvitsasupp", Kürbisgemüsesalat "kõrvitsajuurviljasalat", Kürbisgespenst "kõrvitsakummitus", Katzenjunge "kassipojad" (Plural),

"You're engaged to the prince of Xing?" Breda demands.

"Don't be ridiculous," Ed scoffs and the office relaxes before he continues, "I'm engaged to a prince of Xing. It's not that special, there are twenty three more of them."

"Twenty one," Ling says, that stupid fake smile back on his face.

Ed hums, raising an eyebrow. This is what he gets for not staying up to date on the court gossip. "Nice. Your work or Lan Fan's?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," he says, "they were of course tragic accidents."

"Mei then," he answers and knows he's right by the way Ling's left eye twitches. "Good job Al, at least your fiance isn't useless."

"If anyone has a useless fiance, it is of course me," Ling continues, still smiling. "You don't seem to be doing much to uphold our bargain."

"My father made that bargain, not me, and I'm busy," he snaps. "It's going to be a bit hard for us to fulfill the terms of our parents' bargain, or whatever, if Al doesn't have a body."

The tension in the office goes up a couple notches. Al's lack of body is a secret, of course, but they didn't really have a choice when it came to telling the Changs.

"A body is preferable," Mei says, "but that doesn't really stop you from fulfilling your end of things, Ed."

"You need alchemy?" he asks. "Otherwise, fuck off. Because I'm not coming up with a ring unless Ling is wearing a crown. I'm not interested in being made a widower."

Ling is an asshole and he's not really interested in marrying him to begin with, but especially not before he's emperor.

Al shuffles his feet, then says, "Or Mei," because either of them getting the throne is acceptable by the terms of their treaty, even though Ed has always personally thought it was of course going to be Ling if it was either of them, and not just because he was technically engaged to the bastard.

"You're supposed to be helping me get the crown," Ling says mildly in a way that doesn't feel mild at all.

Ed is not having this conversation again, except obviously he is. "Right now, I need alchemy. Xing doesn't have alchemy. If you can find a way to get Al's body back with alkahestry, then fine, I'll go and blow up the council building or whatever."

"I'm working on it," Mei says seriously, which is why he likes her more than his own stupid fiance.
