it deeply agonizes me that the speak now elements of the manuscript are never discussed in favor of the atw of it all..... like i just. "in the age of him she wished she was 30 and made coffee every morning in a french press" vs "someday when we're older, this is something we'll laugh about over coffee every morning while you're watching the news," "now and then she rereads the manuscript of the entire torrid affair" vs "i used to think one day i'd tell the story of us," "afterwards she only ate kids cereal and couldn't sleep unless it was in her mother's bed" vs never grow up exploring the idea of moving out for the first time & how she couldn't be sleeping in her mother's bed if she was already moved out (also robin being the last song before the manuscript already creating this mental connection)..... please im insane

what songs from TTPD + TTPDTA could fit on Evermore? *answer whenever you want*

ooooh this is a fun question... i'm kinda not answering it directly lol, cause i actually feel like most all of the anthology could fit on evermore because of the aaron dessner of it all, but also. i'm fathoming that there's a lot of general thematic overlap now that i think about it. like if you could pair most of the main ttpd album 1:1 with speak now songs, i feel like you can kinda do the same with a lot of the anthology and evermore. some examples for the ttpd songs i feel would work best on evermore:

champagne problems 🤝 how did it end? -- exploring the inevitable fallout of a relationship, and the way people get attached to the concept of other people's relationships & how they feel a need to either deify or villainize the people involved when things don't turn out how they personally expected

long story short 🤝 thank you aimee -- retrospective reflection on interpersonal conflicts and attacks that you now feel an appreciation for because you can see how you've been able to grow from the experience

closure 🤝 cassandra -- rejection of platitudes on the part of someone who's wronged you, while also simultaneously acknowledging the long lasting pain and emotional effects that their behavior has had

evermore 🤝 peter -- exploration of the growth of oneself after a period of time away from the source of their hurt (she knew what she was doing when she mashed these up)

marjorie 🤝 robin -- gentle adoration and reflection upon the people you love in your life, cherishing their memory and vowing to keep the best of them with you forever

i also just thematically and sonically think that i look in people's windows, clara bow, and the bolter belong on evermore, and also the bolter is shaking hands with rwylm just in terms of Vibes and inversely parallel concepts (did you ever hear about the girl who got frozen? she almost drowned when she was six in frigid water)
