Last Six Sentences
I was tagged by @ma-chi1993 Thank youuu! (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)
I hope to get this right (… the last six sentences written and not posted, right?) Oh, well… spoiler ahead for those who are reading "Effetto Luna", I guess. Enjoy! ♡
Ah -- I have not edited this part yet, so keep in mind that the final result may change.
“Stai tranquilla” fu costretto a dirle. “Non ho nessuna intenzione di portartelo via.” [🇬🇧] “You're afraid I'll steal him from you and that I'll take him with me forever. I know the feeling, yes, yes, I assure you.” Selene wagged her tail and answered with a snort of her little nose that sounded just like an affirmation. Alberto gave her another smile, a sweeter one. “Don't worry,” he was forced to say. “I have no intention of taking him away from you.”
I'm tagging my writers mutuals and anybody who want to join us, of course!

An argentinian playlist of sorts
I’ve been avoiding Tumblr this past days. Mostly because I felt like I was spending too much time here and it was keeping me from other things. I guess I was also kind of tired of it, social media is always a bit like that if you don’t manage it correctly.
But anyway, another reason was that I didn’t really like how much time I was spending thinking in english and just focusing a lot on US shows and news and all that. And I’ve been collecting nice pictures and poems I find here - I use them to make collages for myself and my friends- but now I check my inspiration folder and everything is in english! I mean, it’s lovely, those poems are really special, but spanish is my mother tongue.
So. I’m still kind of avoiding the site and the fandoms. But. I come with some stuff I want to share instead.
Here’s a “playlist” of some argentinian songs I love. All of these songs are in spotify. and i have many playlists but my user name is my full name so..I’m just going to share the names and the youtube links (I tried to find the official ones, but sometimes they don’t exist). It’s not in any particular order. And I don’t know how to describe music so, sorry :/ Most of these songs would be considered “argentinian rock”.
Juntos a la par – Pappo ( <333)
Seguir viviendo sin tu amor – Luis Alberto Spinetta (one of the best known argentinian rock songs)
Querido Coronel Pringles – Celeste Carballo (“coronel pringles” is the town where this artist spent her childhood. She moved to the city of Buenos Aires in high school, so this song is about being tired of the city and about feeling homesick. Dare I say #cottagecore…? jajaj no, that’s not really right. Anyway, she’s considered one of the great voices of argentinian rock.)
Aprender a volar – Patricia Sosa (to sing in the shower when you need to feel better about living)
Honrar la vida – Sandra Mihanovich (original song by Eladia Blázquez, this is just the versión I know)
Soy lo que soy – Sandra Mihanovich (spanish versión of ‘i am what i am’ from la cage aux folles. she’s a lesbian so <3 I love how she sings this song)
Cancior del pinar – Silvina Garré (about building a life with someone) (silvina garré was part of “trova rosarina”, a movement in Argentinian rock that originated in Rosario and mixed genres such as soft rock, Argentinian folklore and tango. They were also known for writing some songs that were explicitly against the military dictatorship that ruled the country from 1976 to 1983)
Diablo y alcohol – Silvina Garré (about a complicated relationship)
En blanco y negro – Silvina Garré (i sang this song in front of my school, with a friend, i’ll always remember that :D, it’s about the city of Buenos Aires)
Reinas de pueblo grande – Silvin Garré (about teenage friendships and dreams)
Amándote – Ruben Rada (great for dancing. Actually, he’s from Uruguay but he also lived in Argentina for a long time so. J His songs combine candombe with jazz and rock, among other genres)
Cha, cha, muchacha – Ruben Rada (my mom always sang this to me as a kid, i don’t think that’s very common but that’s how I know about this song)
Haciendo el amor en la cocina – Maria Rosa Yorio (this one is fun, really fun, she’s considered one of the first female artists of argentinian rock)
Estaciones – Rosario Blefari (she’s less known that Sandra, Patricia, Celeste and Silvina, who were very popular in the 80s. sadly I only heard about her because another artist posted this song when she passed away. Wikipedia labeled her music as Indie rock and alternative rock.)
El témpano – Juan Carlos Baglietto (also part of “trova rosarina”)
Un dia cualquiera – La portuaria (Wikipedia says this is funk /rock pop and I can’t tell you if that’s right but there you go)
No me arrepiento de este amor – Gilda (cumbia <3)
“Santa María (Del Buen Ayre)” by Gotan Project (electronic tango)
“El Anden” - Bajofondo (Ft. Mala Rodriguez) (electronic tango)
“Pa’ bailar” – Bajofondo (electronic tango) (warning for flashing in the video) (there’s a versión with Julieta Venegas too <3)
Varada en villa – Natalie Perez
Quisiera – Natalie Perez ft Coti (According to Spotif, this counts as cumbia, so maybe? Most of her songs combine pop with different genres from latinamerica, like ska or reggaeton)
Algo tiene - Natalie Perez (could you call this cumbia? Hmmm)
Fumar de día – Marilina Bertoldi (first female rocker in the history of the Gardel Awards to win the highest award of the contest, the Gardel de Oro.)
Encendida – Julieta Rada (she’s the daughter of Ruben Rada and this song really speaks to me. She was born in Argentina but she also lived in Uruguay for a long time. This song is from her álbum “Afrozen”, which she describes as a fusion between candombe and pop)
Vértigo – Julieta Rada (also from Afrozen)
Antes de partir – Rocío Igarzabal (un bolero, also I really like the video)
Edit: I’m adding Tu amor era de la salada by Rocío Quiroz (cumbia) because my girl recommended it and its great.
Anyway, some other day I’ll to find some argentinian comics or quotes.
#music#argentinian music#argentinian rock#i would love to recommend you another one of natalie's songs but the music video... has issues ://#Natalie por qué#i made a commitment last year to listen to more songs in spanish#and ended up only listening to songs in spanish#it was great#but now I feel like I’m focusing too much on songs that are in English again.#so... here we go#If someone wants to check for the translation of some of these lyrics (google translator can be weird) I could try to do it.#im not an expert. in fact assume i know nothing#i just like these song

— BACKSTORY.
having problems ? sucks to be you, i guess !
it was approximately at the age of two and a half that parker domingo ibarra decided that he was king of the world, long before that bitter old hag spielberg wrote it into titanic. and there was no reason that he had to think otherwise. born to a filipino family settled in singapore, his father and mother were the co-owners of the brand dionysia — his dad being the business end and his mum being, well, the designer that started it all.
it was a charmed life of limousines, ferry rides, private schools in new england, internships in hong kong and australia, and trips everywhere from new zealand to chile to denmark. by the age of eighteen, he’d amassed more memories and experience in the world that anyone had the right to.
given that it was pretty much a guarantee that he would take over on the business end of his parents’ work, they figured they should let him do whatever the fuck he liked before the age of 21 or so, before sticking his name onto all the business cards and labels and leaving the future of the company to him. but even their patience was tested when, out of all the useless things he could’ve chosen, he chose philosophy at harvard.
they imagined that his reason for choosing the subject was that he wanted as little work as possible during his college years, preparing instead to enjoy his last few years of irresponsible youth before buckling down. then they noticed something a little strange.
parker was — well. he was actually doing rather well for himself. his essays were receiving stellar reviews, and he was invited to attend symposiums and even give a couple of presentations to actual academics. jeez, his parents only hoped that he wasn’t getting in over his head, indulging the idea of doing this nonsense for the rest of his life instead of something meaningful.
the problem was that — yeah, he kind of was indulging that idea.
well, what on earth did you expect ? he was receiving the highest of praise from his professors, from his peers, and cementing himself as the big man on campus. it seemed a hell of a lot better than hanging around the stuck up friend circles he had back in singapore, insisting on either formal parties with stiff suits and bitter drinks, or complete and utter debauchery at strip clubs and gambling dens. like the buddha said — could there simply not be a middle path ?
his parents learned of this a bit too late. he popped in his parents’ room at the age of twenty-three, a master’s quickly attained, to announce that he wanted to continue, and nearly made his poor mother require a nurse from her “shock”. drama queen. but the family was more or less decided that he was not going to do anything of the sort. his sisters were just getting their bachelor’s degrees, and were far too young to get their interest in this stuff. his mum convinced him to at least try working with the company, in the easiest field there was: public relations.
unfortunately, there’s only so much you can control when it comes to what other people think of you. parker had somehow alienated himself from his brand’s clients, seeming like a pretentious, detached, and most importantly, uninterested. for all his talents, he was a dreadful actor.
so he switched over to the design branch, but he was terrible on that front too — not a good artist, and certainly not good at sticking to deadlines. then switched to accountancy. the department’s own workers wanted him gone. then to management. he was insufferable. all this consumed nearly one and a half years of his adult life, following which he had enough evidence to demonstrate that he was not meant for any of this.
cool, said his parents. so, what are you gonna do? he shrugged. then he made it expressly clear that they weren’t going to pay for any of his shit if he wasn’t going to stay with the company in singapore. he said, fine.
so, at the age of twenty-five, he dipped the hell out of that whole affair, and began the rest of his life. it was sort of bananas, and he doesn’t have the best memory of that whole time. for a while he was a teacher of english in singapore, then a teacher of english at a fancy school in tokyo, then he returned home to his beloved harvard, to get that phd he always wanted, while working not only as a teaching assistant for whatever it was worth, but also tending bars, doing editing work for the local paper. everything. hell, his thesis was about postmodernism in commonplace thought, and what better way to gather all that data by just — asking people about it ? and of course, backing them up with theories.
at this age of thirty one and a half, fresh out of his doctorate, he got offered a position at riverbank, sweet ! while the faculty may or may not have been excited to have him for his interesting takes, he didn’t quite see riverbank as anything more than one more stepping stone across a big, beautiful lake. did he know what was at the end of the lake ? hell no ! if he did, he would get a boat and go there. the fun was the stepping.
as teaching assistant, he hasn’t taken more than two courses this first semester ( apart from boring logistical duties ), although his higher ups have been nagging him to take more. he knows the trap ; they’re going to try and get him into a more permanent spot at the old, low-cost. no, sir ! can’t take parker ibarra for a fool, though you can take him for quite a lot more.
has already gotten a reputation as a strange guy among students, but nevertheless vastly entertaining. he always seems to have a suspicious story for any sort of analogy he wants to make, which has always led students to debate what the actual fuck happened in his life. he makes some of them up.
is he kind of living hand to mouth ? hell yeah, but who needs material things when you have intellectual pursuits ?
#* introduction.#* introduction / parker ibarra.#literally kill me when's a flood hitting rb so i can play fewer characters#* i just hope you see me in a little better light / parker ibarra.

A Tribute to Chester: Life, Death, Rebirth, and How He Lives on in Memory
How do you properly memorialize one of your childhood idols? Are you supposed to scream, cry, and gnash your teeth? Or do you put on noise-canceling headphones and block out the ambient noise of the outside world for a while? All of these are difficult questions to answer. I guess that’s why they’re rhetorical. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost two years since Chester Bennington passed. So in a way, this simple little essay is how I can honor him. It feels nice to write something that isn’t fiction or related to a blog for a change[1]. Let’s see how it goes.
Part Zero: Notes from the Underground
I must confess that I was never a member of the official fan club, the LP Underground. I suppose in retrospect that’s how I could have proven I was a legit fan despite never seeing them live in concert except via live stream. But even then, that was a rare occasion. I do remember a t-shirt I got from Hot Topic when I was 12 or so – it had the faces of all of the guys gathered around the classic script font of the band’s logo.
I don’t remember what happened to it. The last time I remember wearing it was in August 2014. I supposed by then I had outgrown it. But still, buying whatever merch I could and getting all of the CDs and eagerly anticipating the next music video all had to count for something. I knew the names of all the guys, even Mark Wakefield, who was never an official member, and Phoenix Orion (Dave Farrell?), who left before Hybrid Theory but was back in time for Reanimation – more on that later.
But I digress. Let’s get on with the real meat of why we’re here. In terms of structure, I thought it would make the most sense to go album by album, discuss some memories I have associated with each, and attempt to unpack why they remain so important to me even as time has marched on since then. Growing up with the band, as I’m sure many of you did, you might feel a similar connection that you never fully grasped until the night of the tribute show in December 2017.
Part One: Hybrid Theory
#Forfeit the game/Before somebody else/takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame/Cover up your face, you can’t run the race/the pace is too fast, you just won’t last. [HT Track 4: “Points of Authority”]
Although Hybrid Theory came out in October 2000, I think the first time I heard it was for another month or two after it came out. It’s still one of the most vivid memories I can still recall, the first time “Papercut” blared out of a cd player. I was sitting in the basement at my buddy Andre’s house and we were playing Perfect Dark with our mutual friend Alberto. It was honestly the perfect soundtrack for the game. Here’s what I said back then: “Dude, who is this? This is awesome!”
“It’s Linkin Park.”
Even then I thought the name was cool, the way that they intentional misspelled Lincoln – the rule of cool and all that. Elementary school hadn’t even ended yet, but it was still part of my formative years, musically speaking. Before then, I had never discovered any music on my own – my friends had always shown me. My parents didn’t raise me to enjoy music – I hated classical and most of the “standards” went over my head. My parents were still throwing karaoke parties. My old neighbor John showed me James Brown. That’s how I latched onto my first favorite song of all time “I Feel Good”. Then came Third Eye Blind, another early love of mine. But that’s a story for another time, as is my recollections of Limp Bizkit. This tale is about LP.
I wouldn’t realize it at the time, but Hybrid Theory would continue to be one of the most important albums to be me as I left elementary school and hit middle school. The days of Perfect Dark and WCW/nWo Revenge began to fade[2] as Diablo II and Starcraft emerged. The sound of Chester’s howls and Mike’s swagger along with the rest of the bands driving instrumentals provided a backdrop like you wouldn’t believe. “In the End” stood out in particular, although as middle school came to an end, it became clear that those reasons weren’t ones I wish to discuss here, now. Ask me again another time. It was at the end of middle school (hell, even before) that I confronted the notion of how deeply uncool I was, and probably tangled with imposter syndrome, anxiety, and depression long before I knew what any of those terms meant.
I already knew I was an introvert who was much more inclined to stay inside playing video games, reading, or writing instead of going outside to play street hockey or anything like that. That shouldn’t have meant that I was an easy target for bullying, but hey, it was the 90s and then the early 2000s, so what could you do? LP helped me cope, even if I couldn’t always express my anger in responsible ways.
I think here is a good place to stop and point something out: mental illness has been something that has been immensely important to me – it affects me and I know it damn sure affects my wife and mother in law. I went through a very dark time in my life roughly five years ago that LP also helped me pull out of – but I’ll get to explaining that more in-depth later on. Right now we’re still in the HT era; I just wanted to talk a little bit more about my motivations for writing this piece.[3]
Part Two: Reanimation
#Keep that in mind/ I designed this rhyme/ when I was obsessed with time. [RA Track 3: “Enth E Nd]
Full disclosure: when I first heard Reanimation, I thought it had its moments. But it wasn’t something I could listen to end-to-end and love every single song. Heck, even HT wasn’t like that, since some of the songs had to grow on me. The video with the robots and aliens having a war while the disembodied robot heads of the band sing the remixed version of “Points of Authority” by Jay Gordon of Orgy was definitely awesome, but I don’t know, I had mixed feelings about the album that took years for it to resolve into me think of it as one of the LP’s early era classics that would culminate with Meteora and Live in Texas.
I have a very distinct memory of popping this cd into the car’s stereo while we were out in…Houston? Taiwan? The details are blurry now because it’s been too long. Seventeen years was a long time ago, and 2002 me was simpler, less refined, and yes, much dumber and naïve. On an emotional level, “p5hng me Aw*y” stood out, and even though it wasn’t actually a true Linkin Park song, “It’s Goin’ Down” stood out from this time period too.
Part Three: Meteora
#I’ll never fight again, and this is how it ends…I don’t know what’s worth fighting, or why I have to scream, but now I have some clarity to show you what I mean… [MA Track 9: “Breaking the Habit”]
Meteora is one of those albums I more clearly associate with Diablo II and Starcraft more than any other games. Just something about the overall darkness and broodiness of the album really fit both of those games. Also, this essay project is making me want to go back in time. Not really from a nostalgia standpoint – okay yeah I guess from a nostalgia standpoint. But it was during this era that I really started to enjoy their music videos. Believe it or not, for the longest time, not all of the songs on the album were rated five stars. I used to be stingier with that rating that I am now. It took a while for some of the songs to grow on me, but “Somewhere I Belong”, “Faint”, “Easier to Run”, “Breaking the Habit”. “Nobody’s Listening”, and “Numb” were instant standouts. I’m still not sure what happened to my original copy of this album. The last I checked, I had a burned copy, but not the real deal.
Part Four: Live in Texas
#When I look into your eyes there’s nothing there to see/nothing but my own mistakes staring back at me# [LIT Track 8: P5hng Me A*wy – Live]
Man, I remember this too. It must have come out six months or so after Meteora did, and grabbing it from Kmart was one of my best days. I think it was also the first LP album to have the dreaded Parental Advisory sticker on it, and this is probably the album I blame most for me disliking the edited versions of songs. Sometimes edits can be clever, but when they’re just bleeps or certain naughty words are blanked out, then it gets annoying. Then again, I probably wasn’t a stranger to this concept thanks to early exposure to Third Eye Blind and Limp Bizkit, as I mentioned before. Was this the first time I heard “live” performances of LP? I think it was, and it probably stoked my eagerness to see them live in concert. Alas, it was never to be.
Part Five: Collision Course
#Yeah/Thank you, thank you, thank you, you’re far too kind# [CC Track 4: “Numb / Encore”]
It’s fitting that as I pick this up on (7/21/19) it’s the day after the 2 year anniversary. I meant to have this finished by the 20th, but it just didn’t happen. Plus “Numb/Encore” was one of the first songs that started up on this go-through of the playlist. If you’re interested in listening to it, I can direct you to my Spotify profile! Numb is one of those songs that have taken on new meaning since his death, but out of all the collaborations on this mashup album, I think it’s the one that works the best sonically and thematically, especially with the juxtaposition between angst and bravado[4].
Part Six: Fort Minor & The Rising Tied
#So sick, if he’s gonna think/That the good lord would come take him/I’m shaking him, “Wake up, you son of a bitch!”# [TRT Track 14: “Red to Black”]
It was four years between the era of Meteora and Minutes to Midnight. In between that time, there was a sea change. First there was the mashup with Jay-Z, and then this came along in November 2005. I remember being more stoked for it than probably any other music that I discovered that year – and this was when Fall Out Boy, 50 Cent, and Coheed and Cambria dawned on me, among others. For those who don’t know, Fort Minor is/was Mike’s side project. He’s since done other solo stuff under his own name but between then and now he would bust out verses from The Rising Tied and incorporate them into existing songs. I always thought that Red to Black was the most LP-sounding song on the entire album and that for the longest time I thought Chester used Jonah Matranga as an alias and it wasn’t a separate person.
Part Seven: Minutes to Midnight
#In this farewell/There’s no blood, there’s no alibi/Cause I’ve drawn regret/From the truth of a thousand lies/So let mercy come and wash away# [M2M Track 6: “What I’ve Done”]
In the interest of time, these entries are probably going to get shorter and shorter. At this point, I just want to get the damn thing over with. “What I’ve Done”, the lead single was the one that struck me the most at first; I remember LP making a big deal about how they wanted to start a new sound after leaving their classic era behind. The music video was awesome, and I think LP was one of the best choices for the Transformers movies. I always thought that “What I’ve Done” would make a great wrestling song. Not necessarily as an entrance theme, but as a hype video for a PPV or a feud or something like that. EWR back in the day helped reinforce that belief though I can’t exactly remember what I associated it with – anyway, that’s neither here nor there. The day that I got this album was the same day the shooting at Virginia Tech happened. Finding out that the shooter was a mentally ill Asian dude spooked me. In today’s parlance, I was shook.[5] That’s something that has always stuck out even though it’s something I’ve not been fond of discussing, for obvious reasons. Still, for our purposes here, it is for once, actually relevant.
Part Eight: Dead by Sunrise and Out of Ashes
#Don’t want to lose my innocence/Don’t want the world second-guessing my heart/Won’t let your lies take a piece of my soul/Don’t want to take your medicine# [OOA Track 2: “Crawl Back In”]
The melodies that emerged on Minutes to Midnight, especially when it was Chester’s turn to take the mic, evolved. They turned into another platform for his music: the side-project Dead by Sunrise and their only album, so far as I know: Out of Ashes. I lump this album in with Welcome to the Masquerade by Thousand Foot Krutch and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. All three emerged during my sophomore year of college[6], which was another difficult year for me. I think that is when I had the most trouble sleeping, either by choice or for other reasons. Out of everything LP-related, I think I have given this the least amount of attention. It’s probably time for that to change, ten years later.
Part Nine: A Thousand Suns
#Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds/I suppose we all thought that, one another# [ATA Track 2: “The Radiance”]
If Minutes to Midnight was an attempt to step out of the shadow of Hybrid Theory, then A Thousand Suns represented an aural breakaway. It was vastly different, integrating more spoken word and turning up their signature sound to 12. I can’t remember exactly if it was in 2009 or 2010 that I was meant to go see LP as they rolled into DC. Ultimately, I couldn’t go because of a lack of transport. It all ended up moot anyway because that was the show that got canceled because of Chester being sick. Trying to dig up that post on Facebook is probably beyond me now because it’s a day late. Maybe someday I’ll be able to find it again because those days were golden (at least my pathetic little eulogy for him that I wrote two years ago.)
Part Ten: Living Things
#Fly me up on a silver wing/Past the black where the sirens sing/Warm me up in a nova’s glow/And drop me down to the dream below# [LT Track 6: “Castle of Glass”]
So if LP had been striving to break away from the sound that made them famous, it was at this point where they were “Nah bro” and went full bore back around into an ouroboros[7] of awesome. While the vast majority of A Thousand Suns[8] had to grow on me over the intervening years, Living Things grabbed me by the throat and never let go. It followed the Hybrid Theory blueprint to a T. After all this time, “Castle of Glass” still stands out as my favorite from the album, but as is often the case, it’s hard to pick favorites.
Part Eleven: Recharged
#When I was young, they told me, they said/Make your bed, you lie in that bed/A king can only reign ‘til instead/There comes that day it’s off with his head# [RC Track 1: “A Light That Never Comes”]
The less said about this, the better. It had its moments, especially “A Light That Never Comes” which showed me the potential of Steve Aoki. But the memory that stands out most clearly about the day I got this album was getting a case of Hell or High Watermelon beer. I think since I got it from Record and Tape Traders, it was the day I found the TARDIS socks for Ally and sent them to her later that week. As you probably gathered from the cluster of footnotes, this was deemed my least favorite “official” LP album, and that ranking has held up in the last six years. It does to Living Things what Reanimation did to Hybrid Theory, but for whatever reason, I can’t bring myself to enjoy it more.
Part Twelve: The Hunting Party
#Cause you don’t know what you’ve got/it’s your battle to be fought/until it’s gone# [THP Track 7: “Until It’s Gone]
Ah, here we go. LP seems to follow patterns in the creation of their albums. Cause roughly a year after Recharged, there came The Hunting Party. After A Thousand Suns came and went, it seemed like LP was on a creative lull. But then we got LT, Recharged, and THP in three straight years. This came out in 2014, and it’s hard to believe that five years have passed already. To this day, I still think that my favorite part was all of the guest appearances on their album, especially from collaborators they hadn’t featured before then, like Daron Malakian and Tom Morello.
Part Thirteen: Welcome
#First time I did it, yeah I’ll admit it/I kinda hit it and quit it and left y’all hanging# [“Welcome”]
In all honesty, this should be a footnote for The Rising Tied. It came out 10 years later, as a way for Mike to tip a wink and a nod at all his fans that were still waiting for a full-fledged sequel. Fate had other plans, though. I can still remember helping to clean Tidewater while this song blared through my headphones. This probably became one of my most played songs of 2015.
Part Fourteen: One More Light
#Who cares if one more light goes out? Well I do# [OML Track 9: “One More Light”]
We’re almost to the finish line. I was super excited for One More Light because it broke a drought of no new music until 2017[9]. The song One More Light became more poignant after his passing. I hope it still makes him proud.
Part Fifteen: Afterword
So where do we go from here? Honestly, not even the remaining members of the band know. They’re not actively looking to replace Chester, and as a group, they’re still officially on hiatus. I didn’t even touch on any of the DVD or special edition releases that I’ve barely heard. I guess in a sense they’re honorable mentions, but without having listened to them, I can’t form any honest opinions or associations for them.[10]
[/mrhahn]
[1] It seems fitting that I mention that shirt I got as a twelve-year-old because that’s when I started picking up on writing as a hobby. It was a way to release my imagination and translate what I had in mind into a story, even if those early stories were embarrassingly bad. These footnotes will serve to flesh out those asides since they’ll more than likely distract from the main narrative I’m trying to spin here.
[2] Although Revenge remains iconic! Even to this day, I still long for an N64 and another copy.
[3] Chester struggled with MI too, even though hardly anyone knew it. It’s what ultimately got the best of him.
[4] My fascination with Genius Lyrics is really helping me to analyze and better understand the meanings of the words.
[5] It didn’t help that he bore an uncanny resemblance to me…
[6] 2009, how time flies!
[7] Not sure how to spell this dang word.
[8] I regarded it as my least favorite LP album until Recharged came out. More on that later.
[9] It wasn’t until that I built the playlist that inspired this essay that I learned that there were some other singles issued between The Hunting Party and One More Light. These tracks include “We Made It” with Busta Rhymes, which actually fell between Meteora and Minutes to Midnight; “Not Alone”, which was between A Thousand Suns and Living Things; and “Darker Than Blood” with Steve Aoki that was between The Hunting Party and One More Light.
[10] One was called “Frat Party at the Pankake Festival” and the other one was “Road to Revolution”, I think?

5 months of Italian, a bilan!!
so june the 11th, crushed by an awful job experience (lol) i decided to do something this summer which was : to learn freaking italian!!
under the cut : why ? how ? there are ressources, i ramble a lot, there are some BOOKS i did read, somebody please punch me & some thinking
(it’s a long post)
why ? the very first reason was that i found a great Master basically about european literatures & i was like omg the dream but for it you need to have a B1 level in English & in the language of the country where u are gonna spend the first year so... italian for me... and like... my “dream” would be to study the influence of the Classical World and their literature through history but like on an european level so yeah italian it was (there is actually 0% chance i will be chosen for this master and like it costs 3000€ a year & i didn’t study the good cursus to be chosen & i will never have the guts to do this move) yeah anyways italian could open so many doors for the future and like I COULD READ BOOKS IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE FRICK YEAH so the first step was the hardest i think, because had to begin somewhere!
how ? i began to search resources on Youtube and i found a rare gem and THE PERFECT CHANNEL OMG THIS PERSON IS NICE AND BROUGHT JOY TO MY WORLD
AlboTheMinstrel is a great Italian guy studying languages and his channel is incredible if you are French & willing to learn Italian, it’s perfect (there are also vids where he doesn’t speak French, but there are fewer of them) ; also grammar videos going crescendo & it’s perfect filled with vocabulary and everything i enjoyed the experience and he REALLY covers A LOT OF GRAMMAR POINTS because it’s basically an Italian course and the best thank you alberto
Langblr really boosted me and my motivation on a scholar pov and thanks for that ; i can casually scroll through my dash and suddenly see someone putting extra work on like... kanjis!!! u are the best thank you ;)
on social medias (i use Twitter a great deal) i followed websites with infos that could interest me for example Panorama posting relatively detailed articles about news
i only saw La vita è bella as an Italian film (because i had already seen it & watching it without subs didn’t bothered me too much as i knew the story- also i don’t watch a lot of movies) => if you have any website streaming Italian movies i want it please (ps : for a lot of movies in English, subsmovies is like the perfection if u don’t know it i’m telling u right now go)
i spend a lot of times searching Youtube channels that i could find interesting and... it was not very successfull :/ but maybe am i too picky
I LISTEN TO RADIO ITALIA WHILE COOKING AND DOING MY DISHES RADIO ITALIA SOLO LA MUSICA ITALIANA
i know frequently check online grammars for particuliar points
also books. i read an awful lot & i began reading Italian : because i’m French & i studied Latin, i understood a lot but... i should study vocabulary... but i have an allergy to vocabulary lists... i suffered through too many vocabulary tests... it will bite me back later... i feel it... ; what i read :
Harry Potter : the first four, a rather easy read ; Snape becomes Piton in it... it makes me think about the “Piton de la Fournaise” and i can’t unsee it now :/
La tregha & I sommersi e i salvati by Primo Levi : the first autobiographical, the direct sequel to Se questo è un uomo that i had already read in French, narrating how he travelled home after the Liberation of camps ; the second an essay about said camps.
La lunga vita di Marianna Ucria, by Dacia Maraini. i found it in emmaüs and i really like having physical copy but goddamit it was too advanced for me, and i struggled a bit
Il deserto dei Tartari & La famosa invasione degli orsi in Sicilia by Dino Buzzati : i remember reading The K when i was like 10 and was eager to learn he was italian and discover his other works, i read some of his short stories too. (+pictures in children books are the best)
Uno, nessuno e centomila, by Luigi Pirandello. too meta (i think) for a start in italian literature, but a great read
some shorts stories in bilangual editions by Pasolini, Pavese or Elsa Morante & Tre cavalli by Erri de Luca. i prefer to read shorter texts in a new language because you can see the end :/
Le città invisibili & shorts stories like La formica argentina, by Italo Calvino ; he reminds me a lot of Kafka!
Le avventure di Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi. it. was. great. reading it in its orginal form was an Experience
what i achieved : put me in front of an italian text and i will understand it, i guess ? depends of the difficulties of course but i would not be afraid to confront it. i need subtitles to understand audio, but can comprehend the goal of a sentence within context and witout subs. and to exprim myself in italian ? *coughs* i will be soon searching for a tandem, because talking to myself is great although meh :/ i’m literally the worst person to have an exchange with
and now ? like i said, i need to talk/write, perhaps dig some grammar, actually learn some vocabulary ; but mostly find a buddy and not be afraid of making mistakes! yes! i can do it! i can go out! speak to people!
any thoughts ? i love u guys. oh. & it was a great thing to do.

_______________________________________________________________________
Ninety Percent (90%) of the Democrats in Congress are corrupt that’s why they are always defending our ‘enemies’ because most of the Democrats are on our enemies payroll (i.e., pay-to-play). Hello Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Ralph Nader, etc.etc.etc..
The next time the Democrats in Congress depend and support our enemies around the World. They should be arrested for ‘treason’ and sent to Gitmo and never let out to see another day.

I HAVE WATCHED THEM ALL!
And ranked them all, from favorite to least! (Three guesses as to what’s #1, given what 97% of the content on this blog is concerned with.)
1. Revelation Lugia: At no point was there any competition for the top slot. Crisp art direction, an appropriately epic scale to the design and the staging of action, a gorgeous musical score (the dub surpassed the original on this point IMO), the best editing and pacing out of any of these movies, and a well-constructed plot that’s simple without being simplistic all speak well for it. But the real selling point for this film is the character work. The CotDs are engaging and play a vital role in the plot without overtaking it. This is the TRio’s finest hour to date IMO. Tracey may be along for the ride (as he often was in the show), but Misty enjoys the best role a travelling companion has gotten to date, and Ash is saddled with his greatest challenge ever (to my knowledge, anyway; I’ve got a hell of a lot of episodes to go in catching up on the series, but it’s hard to top “save the world by yourself because Prophecy.”) And this and the next entry on this list are the only two films where I felt that Ash (and Misty, in this case), more than just experiencing another adventure, actually grew as characters. Not that Johto or the later series built on that growth, but in this show, I’ll take what I can get.
...And, yeah, the pokeshipping doesn’t hurt its rating either.
2. Lucario and the Mystery of Mew: Again, it’s all about the character work here. This is the only other time that Ash seemed to grow, through his relationship with Lucario and his discovery of his Aura (and, in a way, it’s more of a shame that the show never built on this than it is that they never built on Ash and Misty’s growth after Lugia, when you consider that the staff wrote themselves a golden opportunity to do so in DP!) His “this time, it’s personal” goal of saving Pikachu and the parallels between himself and Sir Aaron also serve to enrich his role in a way most of the other pokefilms don’t even attempt. Lucario is the most compelling and dimensional of the movie-featured Pokemon since Mewtwo. Mew is absolutely adorable. The art direction is beautiful, and it’s scope and ambition are appropriate for the high fantasy subject matter. It loses points for some awkward pacing in the front half (the dance is so slow!) and a ridiculous lack of pathos shown when the whole human cast (temporarily) dies, but it makes up a lot of those points with its gutsy ending. No contrived out for the heroic sacrifice this time!
3. Spell of the Unown: So glad I decided to give this film a re-watch. Having an innocent and traumatized little girl, or her feelings of loss and loneliness to be more specific, be the antagonist, is an amazing move by the staff, and it works so well. The threat that those feelings pose to Ash and friends when given immense power is very tangible, though the full impact of that threat takes a while to become apparent. Giving Ash a personal stake in the adventure is very welcome, both travelling companions get decent roles, Charizard’s return is spectacular, and there is some delightfully off-beat and experimental work done in the production design. With the possible exception of Mewtwo Strikes Back, this film has the most ambition and daring of any of them. An uneven pace at the start and a questionable final fight can’t take away the fact that this movie is just cool.
4. Pokemon 4Ever: Possibly the most impressive art direction out of any of the movies; the forest feels huge, and old, and real, just in one look. The Miyazaki-esque look is appropriate for the “destruction of nature” plot, the consequences of which are plainly felt. The time travel aspect is intriguing and not confusing, and Sam is the real hero of the human cast. It tries to give the TRio a real reason to be in the movie, though it’s less successful on that front than Lugia. Drawbacks include a lag in the pace toward the middle, a contrived resurrection, a waste of the travelling companions even by pokefilm standards, and the sidelining of Ash himself.
5. Hoopa and the Clash of Ages: The most threadbare plot out of any of these movies, no real role for the companions or even Ash, and some of the dullest CotDs out there can’t change the fact this is just such a fun movie. Every ten-year old’s dream of an epic inter-gen smash-fest gets thrown on-screen, and even if it doesn’t crank things up to 11, it’s still extremely entertaining. Easily the best thing about XY/Z that I’ve seen so far.
6. Jirachi Wish Maker: An extremely choppy pace and story elements that don’t belong are a serious handicap. But this film not only gives a traveling companion an arc, but makes Max’s friendship with Jirachi the main focus. The damage done to that arc by the plot’s flaws doesn’t erase its charms. And Ash, put into a supporting role, excels in the part, much moreso than in many of these movies where he stays on the sidelines for much of the running time before abruptly becoming the hero.
7. White: Victini and Zekrom/Black: Victini and Rashiram: The “villain’s” actions are poorly motivated and the CotDs are forgettable. But Victini is just so damn cute, and its bond with Ash is so endearing. Those two things elevate the film, and give Ash one of his more dramatically satisfying stints as a glorified plot device. The gimmick of these films, however, feels like a waste.
8. Mewtwo Strikes Back: Compared to my childhood memories of it, this is a very uneven film. The travelling companions have nothing to do, the CotDs are forgettable, the TRio set the “why are we even here” trend up early, the film loses a lot of juice once the battle of clones vs. originals starts (mostly due to sluggish pacing on the fight), and the means of Ash’s revival is infuriatingly dumb. But for the first (and, as far as they knew at the time, only) movie of a kids’ cartoon meant to sell video games, it’s shocking to me how dark they went with this film. Mewtwo is a wonderfully grey character, and his origins and struggles render the first half of the film one of the best sequences in the whole franchise. The idea of prejudice and fighting for superiority as a basis for the conflict is solid in theory if a bit heavy-handed in execution. If Ash and friends (mostly friends) don’t get a lot to do once they reach the island, their journey to it is a fun adventure. And there’s a delightfully twisted horror film look to the production design. For a first outing, this was a very risky film, and even if doesn’t fully work, I think it’s a more impressive effort than most of the pokefilms because of that.
9. Rise of Darkrai: On a technical level, Darkrai has a more even script, and a more consistently solid execution of that script IMO, than Mewtwo. It’s the best of the Sinnoh trilogy by a wide margin. The CotDs (well, Alberto at least) are fun and Darkrai is an effective featured Pokemon. But the problems of the Sinnoh trilogy, while not as pronounced here, are still at hand: a light tone that leaves the Legendaries feeling less impressive than their predecessors, a rather episodic layout to the plot that kills a sense of scale, sluggish pacing and a sense of padding, no real role for the travelling companions, and Ash being a glorified deus ex machina.
10. Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice: Technical proficiency, a cinematic scale, decent dub work, and excellent use of the travelling companions argue in favor of this one being higher on the list. Arguments against that include this film featuring some of the more poorly-designed Pokemon around, a severe lack of tension and stakes in the plot, and a disappointing role for Ash. Ultimately, it just didn’t grip me the way the films immediately above it did.
11. Arceus and the Jewel of Life: Out of all the Sinnoh trilogy, this one felt the least padded, and helped clear up some of the murky plot mess of the earlier entries. The CotDs are serviceable if a little on the dull side. And this final chapter of the trilogy does aim the highest in its scope and scale, even if it doesn’t reach its goals. But Arceus’s terrible voice in the dub, and his rush to apocalyptic judgement, really hurt the character. And the main cast is worse off here than in the other entries, as Dawn ends up as sidelined as Brock in the finale.
12. Giratina and the Sky Warrior: You can give the film this - Shaymin is a well-developed character. She’s a little shit, but she’s a fleshed-out little shit. And Giratina was the most impressively presented of the Sinnoh Legendaries. But the human villain here is very dull, and Shaymin’s obnoxiousness makes it damn near impossible to get invested in her conflict or to buy her eventual friendship with Ash. On the plus side, wonderful art direction and animation.
13. Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea: This film gets off to a strong start and gives us one of the best CotDs, but it’s overlong, stalls in the middle, and its focus on the main plot comes at the expense of May’s arc with Manaphy. It also has the most maddening plot resolution out of any of them (that’s right - it’s even worse than the magic tears from Mewtwo.)
14. I Choose You!: It earns points for shaking up the routine, giving Ash an arc, and doing a superb job at retelling his first meeting with Pikachu, but its meandering middle, superfluous story turns, and some forced character work bog it down. You can give it this - it was a better anniversary show than “Mastermind of the Mirage Pokemon.”
15. Pokemon Heroes: Possibly the most frustrating of these movies to date for me, because there were a lot of elements - the setting, the mythological background, the Dragon-types - that I really liked. It’s easily one of the most beautiful of the movies, and there was a lot of potential in the plot. But most of that potential was untapped, the elements never gelled, and I was often bored watching it. When I wasn’t bored, I was frustrated and questioning - see my “review” for the whole list. And this may be the worst film on the matter of sidelining the travelling companions.
16. Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction: The charms of the titular character and some brief impressive work with the travelling companions can’t make up for an overstuffed, meandering plot full of easy fixes and an abrupt shift in focus during the last third.
17. Zoroark - Master of Illusions: Very similar situation to Diancie - a wonderful story between the titular Pokemon and Zorua can’t overcome a crowded plot that’s saddled with a weak, scene-hogging villain and terrible pacing.
18. Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel: My biggest problem with this one is that there just wasn’t much about it that was unique. Its many flaws are the same ones that plague at least half these flicks. Its good points are the same sort of good points as in the other movies. Its art direction is pleasant but nothing that wasn’t tried before. It’s just...dull.
19. Genesect and the Legend Awakened: These last two are the only ones I wouldn’t hesitate to say were bad. A fundamental weakness in the plot caused by making the titular Pokemon so unsympathetic, the poor handling of Mewtwo’s return, an unremarkable set of roles for the main cast, uneven animation, and a general feeling of laziness all conspire against a decent premise.
20. Destiny Deoxys - Awkward alien subject matter, lack of a clear emotional core, and the worst padding out of any of these flicks all leave it dead on arrival IMO.

Have you ever wondered what could have been if Kevin Smith directed Men in Black? Us either because that’s kind of a dumb thing to wonder. Besides, why obsess about “What ifs?” when you could be reading the defining sci-fi-rom-com-dram-actioner of our time! From the writer of The Bunker and the artist of My Little Pony—wait really? Okay, I guess we’ll go with it—comes an alien invasion the likes of which have never before been seen by human eyes.
The space invaders are real. They’re here. They’re mean. And they’re standing in judgement over the citizens of Earth. The human race’s final exam. They’ve chosen a single champion to test and, unfortunately for us, it’s none other than Jeff Steinberg. Romantically challenged idiot, video store clerk, constipated, confused, distractible. In other words, the planet is totally doomed.

billy’s room part one: the vanity
i have spent far too long looking at pics of billy’s room, specifically his makeshift vanity, so here, have a post of stuff billy has on his vanity. and if anyone wants, i can do one on the rest of his room at some point?
so, in addition to the pump action aqua net hairspray we see him use, he has:
alberto mousse—this advertisement is from 1985 as was the commercial i found
breckset setting lotion—i can’t find much info on this brand but, for those who don’t know, setting lotion is what you use when you curl your hair which means, if you want, you can totally write about billy in curlers. @goodmorninghawkins has kindly provided an image of what that might look like…
i love the idea of this ridiculous boy curling his hair
and an aerosol can i’m assuming is also hairspray because it looks like the old aqua net cans. there’s no close-up of it like there are with the other products but i’m reasonably sure it’s more aqua net. you can see the lid of this can in the first two images, bottom right (by billy’s hand in the second one)
i can’t find this exact non-aerosol/pump action aqua net anywhere but it’s the same one used by kali and eleven in S02E07.
but the plastic crate is on a wooden crate and then there’s that case on top of the plastic crate. i didn’t bother going through the other stuff he has on his vanity, but i know there’s that copy of my life and hard times by james thurber, which is sitting on top of something (that you can see above) and there’s one or two cassettes as well as his zippo. i was mostly interested in his ~beauty products.
after all that, i could have saved myself a few hours of googling if i’d just found this post, last night! oh well!
so in the shot above the read more we can see the poster of shauna grant on his closet (identified in this post—shoutout to @flippyspoon and @introvertia who came to my rescue when i couldn’t remember her name!), the makeshift vanity, his stereo in front of the window, a poster for metallica’s kill ‘em all (their first album from 1983) and the corner of his bedthere is another picture above his bed to the right of the metallica poster. maybe someone can identify it from this tiny glimpse, but i can’t!
(as an aside, looks like there is another window above his bed…it doesn’t line up as being anywhere else considering the position of the door and the way billy crosses the room, etc. there seemed to be something just under one of the curtains, too, later but there was only the briefest glimpse)
i couldn’t identify the brand of stereo/headphones or the specific cassettes (some look home made) but at least there’s a sense of what he’s got there. there’s some kind of booklet or something else under his headphones and it looks like the booklet on the cassette drawers says ‘stereo’ something so i thought it might be a manual for the stereo. (it’s only the cassette deck portion of a stereo, though). one of the things on the pile of cassettes looks like a softer cardboard box so either box from a cassette that wasn’t in plastic (like a cassingle) or something that’s not a cassette (cigarettes?)oh and everyone had that candle in the dimpled glass holder, right? i feel like i remember seeing a lot of them. haha.aside from his clothes, all that’s in the closet is what looks like a blanket? (just above his head to the left in this shot)there are a couple of books in the top left that i can’t identify. perhaps text books?
and i’m pretty confident the object above his head is a stereo receiver (a DJ i know on facebook said that it was a stereo amplifier but i think that might be a similar kind of thing?) another friend said it looked like the beta player they had, which was my first thought, but the big knob (heh) steers me toward stereo receiver or similar.there are two atari games on the inset shelves (next to billy’s closet). one is quite easy to identify because the title is visible. surround was one of the 9 VCS launch titles for atari in 1977. it’s the first version of the game that is more widely known as snake. the second game is harder to identify. the only box i could find with that colour was dodge ‘em but you can just see an ‘s’ visible. i dismissed star ship at first because the box i saw was a deep red. but then this one came up that is perhaps faded or another version or just the way it photographs and i’m fairly confident the second game is star ship. (it was also one of the 9 VCS launch titles).
i’m not 100% sure, though.this cassette carrier on etsy is almost exactly the same as billy’s so i’m confident that’s what it is.so, this is a terrible crop but i remember aaaaages ago @women-seem-wicked suggested this cassette could be a copy of Toto IV (if it is i’ll bet it’s in there thanks to a meme savvy set designer?) and it looks not unlike it. i can’t really be certain what any of the cassettes are though. but i wanted to mention that!billy has a LOT of cassettes. they’re sitting on some kind of box but it could be anything. i wouldn’t be surprised if it was storage for more cassettes.so, you can see bottom left there is something else with an aerial but i can’t make out what it is. i’m thinking some kind of radio? probably another piece of audio equipment at any rate. and there’s something behind it but could be anything.??? i thought may possibly be a basketball? i have no clue, really. but there’s definitely an object of some kind there and from the curved shape basketball seems a fair guess.
ok, so, i’m allergic to exercise i know nothing about exercise equipment but i think this is an ab wheel? you can see the handle of it behind his head in the picture above this one. at first i thought it was a knife handle but then i caught this shot. there’s something else sitting in front of it but i don’t know what that is
.i’m fairly confident that billy’s boombox is a panasonic rx-5031 (it’s not listed on the panasonic models here but it comes up in a google search.) the 5030 looks completely silver and doesn’t match with the black finishings on the one we see in the show. aaaand this person also seems to think it’s an rx-5031 so excellent.looks like billy has a phone on his mantel! (good to take note of for fic purposes ;D) and some kind of empty bottle. there’s something else behind the bottle (only seen briefly and out of focus) but it’s not seen clearly enough to bother adding a pic of it.i think the case might just be another cassette carrier—it looks very similar to this one on eBay and several others on google image search. @lissieisspacey suggested typewriter case as an alternative but also sent me this link to a savoy cassette holder which looks realllllly similar to the case there.
at first i thought that small black object was a viewer/project for 35mm slides (the case looks not unlike a slide case, too, though i think it’s actually a cassette carrier as i stated above)—the one on the left, which is an agfascop 100, is just to give an idea of what they looked like, it’s not the same shape as whatever is on billy’s mantel—but maybe it’s just some kind of light or something?
i would love for it to be a slide viewer, though. anyone else got any guesses? you can see the cord of the possible phone better here, too.mötley crüe poster/picture of some kind (or LP?—it just doesn’t match up with the actual cover of the album unless there was some special edition i couldn’t find)—it looks like it’s covered in plastic with the way the light shines off of it. (whatever it is, it has the same image as this promo poster for shout at the devil—the image i’ve used is a repro from etsy that i can’t link to because the listing has disappeared but you can see an, i believe, original poster that was on tradera here)
as well as the metallica poster above his bed and the mötley crüe pic on his mantel, billy has this poster (or maybe fabric wall hanging?) for the album ‘filth hounds of hades’ by tank. it’s not on spotify but you can listen to it here if you want. (it’s good!) i have to give a shout out to a couple of friends on instagram for identifying this for me when i posted it on my stories there.i think billy has 3 lamps?
not entirely sure about the object on the left below the poster (it’s behind his door which seems an odd place for a lamp but it looks lampish) but the other 2 are definitely lamps. the middle one is on his vanity and the right one is seen in his mirror and would be in the corner by the mantel. the black object with silver edging looks like a case for some kind of audio equipment to me? i’m not sure, though. that’s the only glimpse we get of it.edit: an anon suggested a coat rack as a possibility for the object below the filth hounds of hades poster)

Here's Your First Look At The 'Roseanne' Spinoff Without Roseanne Barr
New Post has been published on https://latestnews2018.com/heres-your-first-look-at-the-roseanne-spinoff-without-roseanne-barr/
Here's Your First Look At The 'Roseanne' Spinoff Without Roseanne Barr
ABC has been chugging along with the “Roseanne” spinoff, “The Conners,” without former star Roseanne Barr and now we have our first look.
In May, Barr essentially tanked the revival of the classic sitcom with her racist remarks on social media about former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett. The network fired her and abruptly canceled the series, which had drawn an impressive 27.3 million eyeballs to its premiere. A month later, ABC announced the spinoff.
The first image from “The Conners,” which debuts in October, was released on Friday and it shows the gang all back together sans Roseanne.
In the behind-the-scenes photo, the new cast ― including original series regulars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalfe and Sara Gilbert ― are gathered at the family’s kitchen table for a script read-through.
Production on the new series kicked off in Burbank, California, this week.
As for what lies ahead for Barr’s alter ego, Goodman revealed that she might be six feet under when the family returns to TV. “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead,” Goodman told The Times of London when asked what’s to come for his character Dan.
Representatives for ABC declined to address HuffPost’s request for comment regarding how Barr’s absence will be handled.

John Goodman and Roseanne Barr attend the premiere of ABC’s revival of “Roseanne” on March 23, 2018.
Goodman also weighed in on Barr’s firing, telling the Times that he knows “for a fact that she’s not a racist.”
While the actor said he hadn’t heard from the comedian since the show got the axe, he said he’d sent an email thanking her for relinquishing her rights to the show, which allowed ABC to pursue a spinoff.
“She was going through hell at the time,” he said. “And she’s still going through hell.”
On Monday, Barr thanked Goodman on Twitter for “speaking truth about me, despite facing certain peril from producers and network.”
“The Conners” premieres Oct. 17 on ABC.

TNA Slammiversary 2017 late ass Review
I wish I could say that I was meticulously editing it for the last month, but I just straight up forgot to post it here. Same for the Battleground one coming shortly after this.
Don West hasn't aged a bit, just barely a little gray. Still branded as Impact! Wrestling. After the Main Event video package, we're going to a 6-person tag?
KM, Laurel Van Ness, Kongo Kong vs. Braxton Sutter, Allie, Maherabi Shera
They are still doing the six sided ring thing.
Kongo Kong tags himself in twice in a row, and the referee just stares right at him. LVN's gimmick is summed up as a dollar store Courtney Love cosplay. This big KM guy is basically a poor man's Cass, he hits a sick powerbomb into back breaker type finisher "Ego Driver", and then Shera completely misses breaking up the pinfall attempt, but it's still only a long 2. Kongo Kong hits a sick cannonball onto the steps. Allie hits a Codebreaker, then an "Allie Drop". "BS Express" by Braxton Sutter pins the bad guys in the ring though. Pretty fun series of finishers, but this was kinda short and barely got started. *
Now a video on the X Division title, Low Ki vs Sonjay Dutt.
Another one on the woman's title(s) unification match, Sienna vs. Rosemary.
Hahaha, just remembered DeAngelo Williams is in a match. The announcers talk about that tag match, but then a video starts for EC3 vs James Storm instead.
Pretty decent video package about 15 years of TNA. What the fuck, there's a goddamn owl and it flew and landed in the ring. Hahhaha. Still Don West and RoFlo on the announce team, thank god, based on what I have heard of Josh Matthews' commentary.
GFW Tag Team Championship - Garza Jr & Laredo Kid vs. El Hijo de Fantasma & Drago vs. LAX [c] vs Naomichi Marufuji and Taiji Ishimori This is some really good and fast action. It's still a bit of a car crash, but it's really crisp. The tag crazy moves and double teams are too fast to follow. Drago fucks up a relatively easy splash, though, but for the most part, these multi person set ups and towers are great and executed perfectly. Holy shit, Diamonte does some amazing high flying shit. Hijo De Fantasma has some sick package tombstone piledriver. Holy shit, Homicide with a Gringo Killer on the apron. LAX finally wins with a sick powerbomb + blockbuster. Great shit. **** (LAX in 15:25)
Joseph Parks tells Borash that tonight's tag is No DQ. Then there's a video package and quick interview for the upcoming tag match-
Eli Drake & Chris Adonis vs. Moose & DeAngelo Williams I'm loving this entrance with full cheerleaders. Austin Dillon, race car driver, is also with Team Moose. Match is a little boring. Eli Drake botches pretty badly. DeAngelo Williams does pretty okay with the hot tag, but then botches/misses a frog splash onto a table, going past it and almost spiking his own neck. The good guys still win. The table gets it post match with a powerbomb. **1/2 (Team Moose in 10:50)
Strap Match- Cowboy James Storm vs Ethan Carter III This is fun, and old school, and I really like how the build ties into the 15 years stuff. They're going with the pinfall or submission. Reversing the handcuff trick was kind of goofy, but EC3 casually taking the strap off to pull a heel trick was kind of stupid. Even worse was the lifeless ending, RIP James Storm. *1/2 (EC3 in 10:40)
Joseph Park & Jeremy Borash vs. Scott Steiner & Josh Matthews The Pope (announcer) joins on commentary for this one. Josh Matthews is introduced as "Vice President of Social Media" and has a video consisting of twitter logos and emojis. Joseph Park is introduced as "esquire", and is not in Abyss attire by any stretch of the imagination. Oh god, they're going to a pre-taped segment. Steiner keeps screaming "fatasses!!!" JB and Matthews brawl into a pool, and I'm pretty sure they try to drown and murder each other.
SHARK BOY SHARK BOY SHARK BOY SHARK BOY SHARK BOY SHARK BOY SHARK BOY Holy shit the Sinister Minister FATHER JAMES MITCHELL with the Abyss mask. This is officially great.
A celebrity chef in the front row shoves Josh Matthews and he goes flying over the entrance ramp. The pre-taped part ends and they get back in the ring. Shark Boy LIVES and runs in to save JB from the Steiner Recliner. Steiner hits a couple of actually impressive belly to belly suplexes to dispatch him though. The old school Abyss music hits and James Mitchell is live and in person. TACKS!!!!! Black Hole Slam and splash on the tacks and that was fun. JB has the stigmata after giving up his body to land on Matthews. *** (Team Borash in 10:52)
Alberto El Patron gives a short interview and says he's going to win even if Donald Trump is in Lashley's corner. Then a video for the upcoming Wolves tag war.
Full Metal Mayhem - Davey & Angelina vs Eddie & Alisha The entrance attack sells this both for being personal, and a little more hardcore than normal. Sick tacks in mouth spot + superkick. I liked the tandem kendo stick + trash can spot too. Goes pretty fast though and ends with a pretty vicious sunset flip ladder + table powerbomb winner. ***1/4 (Team Edwards in 7:44)
X Division Title - 2 out of 3 falls - Low Ki vs Sonjay Dutt [c] This was really intense and furious. Low Ki is really great and dominates the action rightfully so. Normally stomp type finishers are crappy and never look good, but the Warrior's Way move is good, including how he seemed to get obsessed to go for it. Ending was really crisp and pretty perfect. ****1/4 (Sonjay in 18:00)
GFW and Knockouts Title - Rosemary vs. Sienna Rosemary with the dope entrance. Laurel Van Ness is out to screech and distract for some reason. Solid match going through the two trading finishers, then a Laurel Van Ness + Allie run in, then Rosemary kicking out of Sienna's finisher and belt shot. A little weird muddled mist work at the end there, and Rosemary tapped out? I guess they're selling it burning her hand and eyes. ** (Sienna in 10:00)
J E double F comes out to speak. Nothing really interesting, but hearing his old theme music gives me a flashback to all his NWA Title wins.
GFW and Impact Title - Lashley vs. Alberto El Patron The whole entourage crap and pregame dragged on a bit. Only King Mo and Dos Caras remain at ringside. This pretty much settled into a standard "Main Event" type match, with some restrained involvement from the corners, and a few finishers traded/stolen. The crowd didn't seem too much into it either. **3/4 (Alberto in 18:00)

Zachary Quinto on saving tigers, Trump, and why hashtag activism is the real deal.
There are fewer than 4,000 wild tigers left on Earth. Zachary Quinto thinks we should give a damn.

Actor Zachary Quinto ("Star Trek," "Heroes," "American Horror Story") talks to Upworthy about his involvement with tiger-saving campaign #3890Tigers, Trump, breakfast cereals — and tigers again. This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity. Upworthy (UP): Why do you want to help save the tigers? Zachary Quinto (ZQ): I’m a long-time animal lover and animal rights activist. When this opportunity came to me, I realized how much [poaching] has been affecting the wild tiger population — it was something I felt called to get involved with. There are fewer than 4,000 wild tigers left in the world, which seems absolutely insane. UP: So judging by your passion to save the tigers, is it safe to say you’re more of a cat person than a dog person? ZQ: That’s actually not safe to say. I’m more of a dog person than a cat person. ... Sorry to dispel any illusions. UP: Do you own a dog? ZQ: I own two dogs. I should say, I rescued two dogs.

UP: Tiger Beer is a big component of this campaign. If you could sit down and have a beer with any famous tiger — ZQ: Tony the Tiger. UP: Wow, I didn’t even finish the question. And why would that be? ZQ: Because I grew up with, “Theyyyy’re great!” You know, Tony the Tiger and — what was that, Frosted Flakes, right? I loved Frosted Flakes when I was a kid. Tony the Tiger really just lodged himself in my imagination.
UP: What’s the craziest thing you’ve learned about tigers since joining this campaign?
ZQ: I would say their power and the way that they ambush, I’m fascinated by. The power of their jaws, that they can take down animals much bigger than themselves.
I would say the thing that I’m probably most moved by — as powerful as they are — they’re also really vulnerable. I feel like there’s a lot of fear associated with animals like [tigers], but they also need protection. That balance and the delicacy of that is something that I’m really interested in.

UP: As the saying goes, a tiger doesn’t change its stripes —
ZQ: Isn’t it that a leopard can’t change its spots? I think you’re mixing your feline metaphors.
UP: Oh, am I?
ZQ: I won’t hold you for that. ... [laughs] I'm going with you, I'm going with you.
UP: What's the most out-of-character thing you've had to do where you’ve had to change your stripes — or your spots — for a role?
ZQ: I don’t know, I guess I would have to say skinning a woman alive? That’s pretty far away from my inherent nature.
UP: Was that for "American Horror Story"?
ZQ: [laughs] It was "American Horror Story," yeah.
UP: Speaking of "American Horror Story" — you’ve played a lot of interesting characters throughout your career. Which one do you think has the most tiger-like qualities?
ZQ: Interesting. I like to use animals to kind of inform characters that I play in exploring who they are and building a character. Never used a big cat, specifically. But I guess I would say the character I played in "Heroes" maybe had some qualities of, like — he was very stealthy, and he stalked and pounced, and had some characteristics of a tiger.

UP: The Russia investigation, the Senate’s health care bill — there’s a lot of news happening right now. Why should we care about tigers?
ZQ: We’re in a moment now where we can still reverse the decline, and I think that it’s a crucial moment. That’s the key for me — to inspire people and to raise awareness is a way to do that.
UP: If you could have President Trump’s ear for a minute to talk about this issue, what would you say to him?
ZQ: I feel like, I don’t even know where to begin with what I would say to him, just in general. I’d have a lot of things to say to him, I’m sure. I feel like [this campaign is] more about rallying people. It’s about inspiring a collective voice. I think what we can do in the face of this political climate is to really engage. Partly what drew me particularly to this opportunity and initiative is that people can get involved and spread the word, and that’s what I’m more interested in — inspiring likeminded people to rise up and raise awareness and raise money.
UP: Some people say hashtag activism isn’t real activism, but this campaign has a big social media component. Would you argue that social media activism matters?
ZQ: [Online activism] has become the real world, for better or for worse. Everyone walks around with this portal in their pocket, and we check our phones I think more often than we check in with each other sometimes. So I feel like what used to be tangible and actionable in the streets has become much more virtual and digital in the last decade. Modes of communication have really shifted within our culture, and I feel like social media has become such an inextricably tied way of expressing yourself that I think it can be really effective. With the press of a button, you can reach millions of people, and even if just a fraction of those people stand up and do something about a cause, it really makes a difference.
The #3890Tigers campaign — a partnership between Tiger Beer and the World Wildlife Fund — aims to raise awareness and funding for tiger conservation efforts around the globe. There are just 3,890 tigers left in the wild, according to the WWF; the campaign wants to double that number by 2022 — the next year of the Zodiac tiger.
To join the efforts, supporters are encouraged to delete their profile pictures to raise awareness about the disappearing wild tiger population. Over the past 100 years, human activity has killed about 96% of the species, largely due to poaching and habitat loss.
Supporters can also create a selfie celebrating tigers on the campaign website, as Quinto has done below, to share on their social feeds, as well as donate to the WWF. Tiger Beer, which has already donated $1 million toward the nonprofit, is matching new gifts up to $25,000.

UP: Speaking of "American Horror Tale" — you’ve played a lot of attention-grabbing figures all over your career. Which one particular do you feel has the most tiger-like features?

ZQ: We’re in a second now where by we can even now reverse the decrease, and I feel that it’s a essential second. That is the important for me — to inspire people and to increase recognition is a way to do that.
UP: If you could have President Trump’s ear for a minute to communicate about this difficulty, what would you say to him?
ZQ: I sense like, I never even know where by to start off with what I would say to him, just in typical. I’d have a lot of factors to say to him, I’m guaranteed. I sense like [this marketing campaign is] additional about rallying people. It is about inspiring a collective voice.

Partly what drew me significantly to this opportunity and initiative is that people can get associated and distribute the phrase, and that’s what I’m additional interested in — inspiring likeminded people to rise up and increase recognition and increase income.
