I took my jeans off my body to take this picture of these whole ass thigh/butt patches

they’re not that visible, although a coworker DID exclaim “your jeans are so pretty!!” when she caught a glimpse lmfao

I sewed the patches from the inside and then added sashiko stitching over the patch and the sections where the patch and original fabric overlap. the sashiko gives it some strength, and I just noticed that some of the sashiko thread is starting to wear away, but the patch isn’t worn thin yet ! success!!!

"Don't just throw ripped jeans away, you can repair them using these 10 cute Visible Mending techniques!!" unfortunately my friend the first point of failure for every single pair of jeans i have owned in my life has been the Crotch and Ass. Knees: fine, cuffs: fine; but 3 years in, and all that stands between the world and my astronaut-patterned taint is 0.5µm of denim worn so thin that every squat threatens to tear it to shreds like wet toilet paper. If the Tiktok craft community could figure out a way to resurrect jeans afflicted in such a way that doesn't involve adding a whole ass buttpatch like some sort of inverse assless chaps situation then that'd be great

Her fault. Her fault. Her fault. He was going to die, and it was all her fault. Hands pressed desperately over his middle, trying to staunch the bleeding that flowed endlessly, Fox tried to save the life that was already slipping away between her fingers. Shredded muscle and sinew twisted with the tattered remains of his robes, weaving together around her incapable digits like a grotesque mockery of a cat’s cradle. Maybe with medical equipment, earthly objects from that life left behind, his life would be spared—but there was nothing. Nothing she could reach for or grab, no one to call, there was nothing she could do. The great Doctor Strange was dying and the world would be lesser for it.

“Please, please,” her arms were shaking as she begged for that tiny spark of something to appear. Concentrating, digging as deep as she could for any shred of healing power or magic or whatever it was. The shaking became worse. The edges around him, laying prone beneath her unlit hands, began to fade. Melting into a darkness she fought to keep back. Blood dripped from her nostrils, a splitting headache brought forth a spasm of pain, and still she tried. Frantic for anything and lacking in everything. There was no fighting the dizziness that sent the world around them spinning, meshing every color together until all she could see was black.

A deep red glow filled the space and from it walked a woman. Spine straight, moving unhurried to kneel beside the dying Strange. “We clung to our warp weighted loom,” she began softly. “By the time we were done, we were woven in. Such constriction from a self-made trap.” It was Fox and it wasn’t. She was different. Perhaps a little older, confident, oozing with the darkness of power, and looking down upon him with the softness of seeing an old friend. A hand, fingers sooty with darkness, rested over his wound. Again, a glow began, pulsing a deep orange where it had once been gold. The pieces of him that had fallen apart began to weave back together once more. Cells healing in a way that seemed wholly impossible.

With her other hand, she pushed the hair back from his brow. “And on these antlers, dry-rot cracks through.” As if he was crowned or meant to be. This Fox, she glanced to the other beside him. Unconscious and incapable. “I left myself too open for you,” she reflected before turning her attention back to him. “So, by now I know what decay is.” There was a sadness in the way she said it, as if all three had been connected in some mysterious way that had led her down the darker path. The corrupted path. Wanda Maximoff was not the only witch tempted by that which she could not have.

“I’ll lay on waves until the night channels end,” Fox stated, as if telling him where she would be. Where he could find the beginning to the end that would not come for him. Not now, at least. She leaned close to him, his body nearly healed completely beneath her hand. “Future love,” she whispered against the shell of his ear. “Don’t fall apart.” As quickly as she had come, she was gone. Disappearing into the fading glow like a figment of a twisted imagination.

I love my ChiaoGoo needles, so I think this is a good purchase! Starting out with quality tools is always a nice treat for yourself.

My only concern is the length, since that’s a looot of length. If you want something versatile, I would recommend getting the interchangeable version of these needles instead (that’s what I have!). You can detach the cord from the needle tips, and switch it out for different lengths depending on your project. It also makes needle storage a lot easier.

As for material, I’m not a fan of bamboo needles, but I absolutely adore wood needles. Needle material is often personal preference, so I would definitely recommend getting a set of nice wood needles to try out. KnitPicks (I think they ship to Canada?) sells a “Try-It Set” where you can get one pair of wood needles (I think they use laminated birch) and one pair of nickel needles. I just saw you can also select a try it set with stainless steel needles, so that’s cool!

More on material: I know I just said it’s personal preference, but I also think it’s important to match your needle material to your yarn. I use my birch needles with wool, but use my aluminum needles with cotton.

Metal needles were too slippery for me when I was learning to knit, so I was yanking my stitches tight to keep them from falling off, which made it hell to knit into them later. I was straining my hands from the force needed to get into the stitch. I was seriously hurting myself this way!! I switched to wood needles and trained myself to knit more loosely, and it was a lot easier and less painful. Wood needles are more “grippy”, so my stitches aren’t falling off my needles as I’m trying to knit. They’re also warmer in my hands in the winter, which makes a big difference to me.

On the other hand, cotton is a more “grippy” fiber, so I need a more slippery needle material to knit with it. Knitting cotton with the birch needles gives me too much resistance and makes my hands hurt. I think this probably isn’t that big a deal to most people, but it was immediately evident to my messed up hands. It’s like Princess and the Pea over here.

Anyways, I don’t think you can go wrong with these ChiaoGoos! But I think it would be a good idea to get a pair of nice quality wood needles and give them a shot, and see what your hands prefer.

Is there any reason that this is the "wrong" purchase for a beginner?

I'm looking for something I can grow into, hence the 40" length but I'm also intent on knitting gloves with my mainly handspun fingering weight yarn and hopefully this is the proper needle size for that?

I assume that I should continue to resist the call of the bamboo needles for the same reason I don't like to crochet with a bamboo hook (splintering, bending, snapping etc.)

this is a ruki! it’s a tool made out of alpaca bone (I was told it’s a foot bone) and used for backstrap weaving. the weavers in Patacancha use it to beat down the weft and to clear the shed when changing sheds.

the shawl in the background was handwoven by Maria, my weaving teacher in Patacancha <3

Alba - A Wildlife Adventure

Alba is a sweet little ecological game in which you try to discover and protect the fauna of a small Mediterranean island. Although the game is a little childish and simplistic, it nonetheless offers a calm and playful moment that will be much appreciated after a stressful day.

❤ The game has a very naive, positive charm that's perfect for young and old alike, and while it's a bit childish, the underlying message is there to make adults feel responsible too. ❤ The chara-design is cute and colorful, and even though the animals may look cartoony, the different species are still clearly recognizable and very varied (over 60!). ❤ The soundtrack is great, with a bit of Hispanic music to take us on a journey, and the environmental sound effects make the explorations rich and full of life. What's more, I loved the fact that you could 'track' the animals by their calls (which are referenced in our notebook to help you). ❤ The island may not be very big, but it gives an impression of vastness and richness, with its different landscapes and all the wildlife that inhabits it.

+/- The story is a little short and I would have liked a few more quests. But although there's that narrative thread, the game gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings freely, and I found that part far more satisfying than the missions given. Visiting every nook and cranny and finding new species to take photos of became my hobby for a few hours ;) +/- The game is quite educational, both in terms of discovering the fauna and saving their habitat, but I regret that the notebook isn't detailed enough. A short description for each animal would have completed this ecological lesson; in my opinion, by knowing more about animals and their way of life, humans can certainly respect and protect them better.

✖ Some animal appearances are only triggered by quests, but you don't know in advance which animals will be involved. I went round and round the island looking for certain animals, only to have them automatically appear at the end of a quest. I find this aspect less satisfying. ✖ The story is too manichean, clearly aimed at children, and will be a little boring for the older ones. ✖ Vade retro the phone in portrait mode to take pictures of nature, WHY ALBA?! ✖ There are tags all over the game with a rather unusual design, and they're mentioned once at some point. I thought we'd have to clean them up or there'd be some sort of explanation…but no...yes, I'm frustrated, I want to know x)

Alba is therefore an honest game in terms of what it wants to teach us, and will work wonders for the little ones, given its cute, positive character and its pedagogical aspect around biodiversity. But it doesn't neglect adults either, who, despite a story that's perhaps too candid, will find in it a welcome breath of positivity and a definite moment of relaxation. Just next time, let me at least pet the little cats!

parasocial relationships are a thing. And believe it or not no one intentionally chooses to walk into one. It's really not until a hard blow (like your crush getting a gf and/or married) comes along that people realize how in deep they were in.

Hollywood thrives on parasocial relationships (it equals 💰), so don't feel stupid if you find yourself in one. You're not stupid. and it's okay to feel sad and hurt. In a weird way you're gong through heartbreak and maybe even grief (even if you've never met this person). Cry and bawl your eyes out if you need to.

it's also okay to feel envious about the girlfriend/wife of your crush. Envy/jealousy is not a disease AS LONG AS you don't become abusive or mean to anyone. It's very normal emotion that lets us know more about what we want.

Step back form the fandom you're in, do think that make you happy* and try not to spew any online hate bra is real and she takes notes.

and know that this too shall pass ❤️. feelings and crushes come and go. One day you'll look at or think about this man or woman and will feel NOTHING. I promise you.

*even if what makes you happy rn is watching trash tv and eating junk food. indulge babe.
