I know your blog is very focused on Rhaegar x Lyanna but I wanted to ask what are other Game of Thrones universe ships you like. Can you give me a top 10 ?

This is a really cool question my top 10 is very weird. I like very different couples it’s my crack ship obsession. I’m gonna put an honorable mention to Sigorn x Alys Karstark, Arthur Dayne X Jaime Lannister, Sansa Stark x Margaery Tyrell, they are a cute couples but they don’t make my top 10 !

10. Alysanne Targaryen x Alaric Stark: I mean, I do have an obsession with stark/targaryen, fire and ice, ships so this was no surprise. My head canon is that this helped Alysanne with a lot of trauma from her first trip on Westeros where she was attacked. And I love that Alaric is kind of grumpy at the beginning but warms up to her with time.

9. Jacaerys Velaryon X Cregan Stark : Again stark/targaryen ship, but gay ! Two of the things that I love the most in life. I’m very sad that apparently Cregan won’t be making another appearance in this season of House of the Dragon. Because you know, I just wanted to see my ship or a little bit more of it.

8. Oberyn Martell X Willas Tyrell: This one is kind of complicated; For people that don’t know Willas is a book only character, he is the heir of HighGarden, when he was very young, he went into jousting, and he jousted against Oberyn. But sadly because he was so young and unprepared, he ended up having a very serious injury on his leg. And that caused the Martell’s and Tyrell’s to have even more beef than they already have, but the cool thing is Willas did not blame Oberyn. They became friends after this. So yeah I ship them because this one brings a softer side of Oberyn that we rarely see.

7. Jon Snow x Satin : I mean, bisexual Jon Snow, that’s it.

6. Ned Stark x Jaime Lannister : This one is one of the crack ones, and I know a lot of people will think I’m mad. But if you read the books, and you read Jaime’s POV you know for a fact, he had a huge fat crush on Ned Stark. Also bisexual Jaime Lannister !

5. Lucery Velarys x Aemon Targaryen : Oh we’re getting to the toxic one. This is more like a very dependent on the AU vibe. But I like the idea of forgiveness and growth. 

4. Brienne of Tarth x Jaime Lannister: I mean, you don’t really have to explain this one. it’s amazing. It’s probably the best thing that happens to Jamie in the books and in the series, and I will be eternally bitter of how they were treated in the tv show.

3. Arya Stark X Aegon Martell Targaryen : This the one that is the most cracked ship of all of them, but hear me out, yes, I know that the possibility of young Griff, being Aegon, is very slim, but I don’t care. 

2. Lyanna Stark x Jaime Lannister : I’m usually attracted to ships that are opposites attract, but that is not the case of this one. I would like to make the claim that Jamie Lannister and Lyanna Stark, are virtually the same person in different fonts. Middle child, of dysfunctional family, that lost their mom, has a very ambitious dad, and a kid that has to grapple with the weight of societal ecxpectations, but at heart are both rebellious. 

1. Rhaegar Targaryen x Lyanna Stark : I mean, this one is my OTP, of all the ships of all time. It’s my sensitive boy, and my tomboy girl, they’re everything to me and no, I will not be questioned or hear any criticism for it!

“Mother, I want to come with you.” 

It was a simple request, not even a question, from Alysanne’s ten-year-old daughter Alyssa a mere two days before she was set to leave for her annual journey to White Harbor to hold her women’s court. Two years ago- to celebrate the twentieth year of Jaehaerys’s reign- she had started conducting them once a year in three different areas of the kingdom. A sennight a piece spent in Highgarden, Lannisport, and White Harbor every year ensured the voices of the women of the realm were heard. 

This year, however, had been different. With the wedding of her eldest son Aemon to her half-sister Jocelyn set to take place just before year's end, and with another child due just after the new year Alysanne knew she would need to adjust her plans. Rather than hold her women’s court at White Harbor in the year after the birth of her tenth child due to the distance she would need to traverse, the queen decided to travel to the seat of House Manderly for the second time in just six months. 

 “She asked to come?” Rhaena asked her younger sister as she handed Alysanne a glass of wine. 

Due to the distance between King’s Landing and White Harbor, Alysanne chose to break up the trip into two days of travel, sending the rest of her retinue ahead long before she and Alyssa took flight on Silverwing. Harrenhal may not quite have been the halfway point between the two locales, but she could not pass up the chance to visit her older sister. 

“She did,” Alysanne confirmed.”I think she’s feeling a bit…left out amongst the wedding preparations for Aemon and Jocelyn and now she has me all to herself for a time.” 

“And will Lord Stark be once again escorting the retinue from Winterfell as he did six months ago?” 

Ever the elder sister, Rhaena Targaryen cut straight to the heart of the matter. It was true that Alaric had made a point to escort the women from Winterfell to White Harbor. It was a matter of safety, he had explained to Lord Manderly, and since the untimely deaths of both of his sons the Warden of the North felt compelled to take on the task himself. 

Of course he could not tell his bannerman that he would not pass up the chance to see his queen. Of course he could not tell him that the letters they exchanged over the years simply did not suffice. Of course no one could know that Alaric kept the queen’s company each night during their stay at White Harbor. No one had been privy to any of this save for Alaric, Alysanne, and the Scarlet Shadow, Jonquil Darke. 

But there were some secrets that could not be kept from the likes of an observant older sister. 

“He will,” Alysanne nodded slowly. 

“And remind me again when your babe is due?” 

“Three turns of the moon…or so.” 

“Or so?” 

“Don’t look at me like that, Rhaena.”

ok so first for THE couple — Aelys x Myrielle

Name: Alysanne Vallici/Targaryen — take your pick for the last name (ok I think Aelys would convice Myrielle to use a Targ name and Myrielle, who struggles at saying ‘no’ to her partners, says ofc since she likes the names Alysanne AND it is to also honor the late Queen)

Gender: Female

General Appearance: The Targaryen genes are very evident. Alysanne would have the Targaryen hair, but it is much more gold in color because of Myrielle’s auburn hair. Her eyes are very pretty! She has a periwinkle color — a mix of lilac and blue from her mothers. She would be pretty short too. Aelys is really short if I remember correctly and Myrielle isn’t the tallest either (rather average in height). I literally just had to think of these two before I got a face claim!

Personality: She would be a really confident person. Aelys raised her in a way to not shy away from what she wants + she isn’t as psychotic as Aelys since Myrielle wants her daughter to be kind. She would be raised as a proper lady in court, with everything offered to her which is one of the reasons she would struggle to hear the word ‘no’ from others. She would have a very child like personality who always giggles around and never takes anything serious, but she was given excellent education as a kid and is those kids who skip class or are asleep yet they get perfect grades.

Special Talents: She‘d be an excellent singer. Writing her down, I couldn’t help but think of a singer if that makes the slightest of sense. She is a quick learner also everythung came easier to her, but singing was a challenge at first and all the other ladies in court could do it, so she set her mind upon it and like Aelys, she did not step down from what she want. She jusr ended up locking herself in her room a lot, singing until she was the best.

Who they like better: Ohh she likes both! Myrielle is more nurturing to her and soft, but she is also really protective and stricter while Aelys would give her the freedom she wants and just be the overall the chiller parent

Who they take after more: Aelys through and through from her looks to her personality!

Personal Headcanon: Alysanne prays a lot, she is a devout follower like Myrielle (that’s what happens when you grow up in the Vallici households). But she doesn’t believe in the Seven nor the Fourteen. She has this mixed version in her head from seeing each parent pray to different Gods and she wants to believe both are right and that neither mother is a liar. This child like ideology woild become a mindset and she would grow up believing in both aspects of both faiths, filling in plot holes and overlaps to justify herself.

Face Claim: Maria Valverde is THE face claim for her! Especially her as Lucreia! She has golden hair and this otherworldly beauty her mothers posses and the softness in Myrielle’s face

now for — Maegora x Alaric!

Name: Aerion Vallici. I was tempted to pick a non-Valyrian name but I saw this and I just knew Alaric would name his son that!

Gender: Male

General Appearance: He looks pure Vallici. He has Alaric’s dark and shaggy hair, paler skin and his overall built. He is much leaner than his father, but almost as tall as him as 6”1. His eyes are his from his Mother’s house instead of fhe Vallici blue. His eyes aren’t really light, but they are a dark purple that almosr appear black at times. High cheek bones like his beloved Mother. ALSO he has a little birthmark near his shoulder that looks like a mini star, but he always hides it away from everyone.

Personality: He love loves to rile people up! Well only his cousins and friends which he doesn’t have many of. He is really respectful of others and soft, just like Maegora during her youth. He is a bit of the a pathetic loser and gets emotional really easily. He gets love from his family, BUT he wants to feed off their love. He is touchy. He also pents up his anger. He does get emotional, yes, but he only expresses all of them except anger since ‘Mother says to not be mad at others’ ans all those mean thoughts he ever had ans wanted to say belong in his head. He seems so nice but he is a little bit of a bitch on the inside.

Special Talents: Aerion is really good at handling a sword. Despite his Mother’s disapproval, Alaric wanted Aerion to learn how to fight at a young age jusr like him. He used his connections to get Aerion the best knights to squire for and trained Aerion himself. Aerion however doesnr enjoy fighting much unless it’s for training purposes since he doesn’t like it when he trains since he always lets that bottled up anger through his sword and seeings himself uncontrolled at times terrifies him slightly.

Who they like better: Alaric. Maegora is an excellent mom but Aerion feels too coddled up and infantlized in her presence. Alaric treats him like he isn’t a baby but his proper age. He trains, drinks and laughs mainly with his father especially as a child at that estate since it was quite an isolated place especially if you are an onky child.

Who they take after more: Maegora. He is quiet, soft, touchy and a little bit of a air head at times and kind BUT he is a bit more meaner then his Mother

Personal Headcanon: He is a horrible liar. He does not lie often since it is obviously wrong, but when he does, he feels so guilty and if someone finds out he is lying, they won’t like him anymore in his head. Same wirh secrets. Small secrets that are harmless can be kept but if you tell him something bigger, it’s so obvious he is lying and hiding a truth or secret with how he speaks ans looks away. Normally the guilt gets to him ans he tells someone, even if it is a cousin or parent that would swear they won’t tell anyone. He just CAN’T handle holding secrets especially all by himself.

Face Claim: Spencer MacPherson! He has that boyish looks and is pretty. Plus he matches all the description!

(Alaric/Alysanne, Jace/Cregan, Rhaegar/Lyanna, Robb/Rhaenys!OFC)

OKAY BUT LET ME SCREAM ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND!! I absolutely love, love, LOVE ASOIAF and I LOVE the Targaryens and the Starks. There is so much potential between them and cinematic parallels than can be had!! I decided a long time ago that when I eventually get around to writing an ASOIAF fic, it's 100% going to be about Stark x Targaryen. That being said, I probably won't write an ASOIAF for a minute. EIOB is already such a dense fic I have going on right now, and I know ASOIAF would be even bigger. So I want to finish - or at least get close to finishing - EIOB before I pursue another epic fic.

That being said, let me gush.

My plan is to write an anthology of one-shots regarding Starks x Targaryens through the histories, and settling in on a whole story. It would be an Epic Series, at least I hope it would be. The series would follow themes like doomed romance, repeated history, and soul mates. There would be three one-shots to start off with, beginning with the alleged affair of Alysanne Targaryen and Alaric Stark. The next would follow Cregan Stark and Jace Velaryon (they are gay). And, finally, there would be Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

Each of these romances are doomed in their own way and can never fall into fruition, so it would be these three fics that would ultimately center into an Epic Fic romance between a Targaryen and a Stark - the romance of Robb Stark and Rhaenys Targaryen.

Now, in the books, Fuck Boy Rhaegar Targaryen has a daughter with his wife, Elia Martell, who was killed during the Sacking of King's Landing. She was stabbed half a hundred times and is long dead by the events of ASOIAF. However, within this fic, Rhaenys would survive the attack - likely by Ned Stark arriving to King's Landing sooner. Robert Baratheon would want to kill Rhaenys, as she is Rhaegar's only living daughter. But Ned, ever pragmatic and kinder hearted, convinces Robert to let Rhaenys live.

It would appease the Martells and Dornishmen, which would be a political gain given the fact Elia and Aegon (little brother) would be dead at this point. Ned convinces Robert that it would also help gain leverage over Dorne to have one of Elia's children survive and be held as a ward. Robert strips Rhaenys of her titles and legitimacy - rendering her Rhaenys Sand - and she goes with Ned to live in Winterfell.

Ned brings two Targaryens home with him - through Rhaenys and Jon.

Rhaenys is brought up in Winterfell as a ward. And as you would expect, forbidden romance comes into play through Robb Stark.

The story would follow the events of ASOIAF for the most part, but with heavy deviations and such ... and many, many other details at play. ;)

I will save it there, but please know this is a huge fic I am considering and would be the ultimate Stark x Targaryen fic!! As always, feel free to HMU!!

3. A character that fandom has helped you appreciate.

asoiaf: Hmmm I think Lancel Lannister and Aeron Greyjoy. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate them before but reading others’ ideas about them really made me appreciate them more. The comparisons to Theon also didn’t hurt. Black Sails: Eleanor Guthrie and John Silver. This is the same kind of situation where I actually appreciated them alot before but fandom metas and insights and ideas seriously deepened my appreciation and understanding of them. Excited for my rewatch!

9. A Ship that isn't your OTP but that you enjoy.

Ahhhh… this is hard. I have so many favorite ships (which is what I'm interpreting OTP as in this question because I am such a multishipper.) So now I’m trying to figure out the levels of my favorite ships (I’m overthinking already and these responses were supposed to be quick and dirty so this is definitely not including everything but the ones I enjoy but aren't like my favorite ships for life: asoiaf/got: Sanrion (Sansa x Tyrion), Lansa (Sansa x Lancel), Braime, Sansaery, and Catelyn x Ser Rodrik (does anyone else ship this but me though?- since it's so obscure it might have to be one of my favorites I don't know) Harlots: Marnwells (Charlotte Wells x Daniel Marney), Northwells (Margaret Wells x William North) Black Sails: Vane x Jack x Anne HOTD & Fire and Blood: My OTPs are mostly the w/w ships of both fandoms. But I also enjoy for HOTD: Daemyra, Rhaewin, Alicole, Daemon x Laenor (Daenor?), Helaemond, Jace x Baela, Jace x Helaena and Rhaenys x Corlys and for Fire and Blood: Dettles, Nettles x Addam, Jace x Sara Snow, Baela x Alyn, Baela x Dalton Greyjoy, and Alysanne x Alaric. (Basically I am a walking ship war and that's not even getting into my faves.)

24. How has fandom positively impacted your life?

It has given me a space to create and imagine and heal when I was isolated and really messed up. It has been very therapeutic and also a source of great inspiration to me. It brought be back to writing after I had given it up. Theon specifically helped me in more ways than I can explain right now.

i just don’t understand moralizing about very minor historical characters like that. if we want women to be written like people surely it’s okay if they make some questionable decisions. How would you approach writing the relationship between Queen Alysanne and Lord Alaric Stark? Some time after visiting Winterfell, Alysanne had a daughter who didn't look entirely like a Targaryen. 👀 So they may well have been more than friends.

Juicy! Yeah, I could see writing Alysanne having an affair. I mean I think the hardest thing about writing Alysanne and Jaeherys for me would be the sibling incest. I wonder how much that relationship was a deep romantic love and how much was just a really strong partnership of two people who worked well together. I would be interested in writing a political relationship where the romantic partners had other affairs... Would probably get a lot of hate for it, but it could be interesting.
