This evening was pretty magical. My friend, Eric, brought me along as his “expert” to review the upcoming movie #WrinkleInTime. To give you some history, this was my 2nd book series ever that I was reading by the end of 3rd grade (The first being Alanna of Tortall thanks to one fantastic Tamora Pierce). I’m a nerd. I’ve always been smart. I like science and art. And in many places (Texas), that set me apart. Books were my solace. Meg fighting for Charles Wallace and folding space was one of the places in which I hid and began to feel like maybe I wasn’t alone. And guys, I just saw the planet Uriel on screen. And it was glorious. The graphics, the costuming, the make up.. It exceeded even my dreams, and my imagination is pretty out there (Pirates riding dinosaurs, I mean come on). The movie reminded me why I liked science.. and science fiction. Why I fight so hard to be a tiny bright spark in shadowed places. Why I pursued the science of art. And why I keep trying to relearn how to love myself every damn day. This is the movie that #Tomorrowland aspired to be. The director, #AvaDuVerny, succeeded in her goal. I remembered what it was like to be 12 year old me again. I *love* that there are so many women of science coming out of #Disney these days. I only ever had one to look up to when I was growing up. My mom. And there was no one to pull me back in when I reached the age of “I don’t want to be anything like my parents.” (I made it to regionals for the science fair *3* times, y’all. 3. And I competed 5 times. I placed 4 times, and all 3 of those regionals. I learned HAACP in 4th grade. Someone please explain to me why I didn’t go study in that field. *ahem* I digress..) But now there’s #Shuri, Dr. Kate Murry (Meg’s mom), Dr. Helen Cho, Wasp (Janet van Dyne).. So many women in #STEM fields. I just wish they had gotten here sooner. Welcome, ladies. I’ve been waiting for you. Signed, My 12 Year Old Self (I couldn’t bring my phone in, so I couldn’t get a picture of the poster. Instead, I will show off my new tapestry for my lab by the amazingly talented @RisaRodil that showed up https://society6.com/product/shuri1119777_tapestry?sku=s6-8724981p42a55v412 )

Happy New Year - It's a New Year, New Season for the Epson Tour
Not too far down the interstate there’s an exit. The exit ramp leads to the “Road to the LPGA”. What this means is that the 2023 Epson Tour is about to begin their season. For those that are unaware or that have little to no familiarity with the Epson Tour is to the LPGA Tour what the Korn Ferry Tour is to the PGA TOUR. The list of graduates is impressive, including world-class golfers like…
