TESLA'NIN
Gazeteci: Bunlar nelerdir, bay Tesla?
Gazeteci: Bunlar nelerdir?
Tesla: Birinci mesele yiyecek.
Gazeteci: Her gün evinizin penceresine kuşların geldiği söyleniyor.
O, sadece kaosun habercisi.
Gazeteci: Bay Tesla, bir ses mi duyuyorsunuz?
Tesla: Her zaman duydum. Ona garezim yok. Yalnız “eter”in olmadığını düşünmesi büyük bir hata.
Tesla: Bay Smith, insanlar fazla ciddiler.
Tesla: Her şey elektriktir.
Gazeteci: Peki madde nedir?

This magical time of which I’ve spoken with great fondness over the years didn’t get off to the best start. Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark died on January 8 from a lethal mix of alcohol and prescription drugs at the young age of 30, and three people were crushed to death during an AC/DC concert in Salt Lake City just 10 days later. But things did improve.
Along with the above-mentioned classics, an overabundance of bangers were released throughout ’91, not least including Fly Me Courageous by Drivin N Cryin, 1916 by Motörhead, Doubt by Jesus Jones, Innuendo by Queen (Freddie Mercury’s farewell), The White Room by The KLF, Heart in Motion by Amy Grant (laugh if you want), Out of Time by R.E.M., Arise by Sepultura, Mama Said by Lenny Kravitz, Temple of the Dog’s only album (featuring members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden), Power of Love by Luther Vandross, Schubert Dip by EMF, De La Soul Is Dead by De La Soul, Don't Rock the Jukebox by Alan Jackson, Spellbound by Paula Abdul (laugh if you want), Gish by The Smashing Pumpkins, Slave to the Grind by Skid Row, Superstition by Siouxsie and the Banshees, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge by Van Halen, Into the Great Wide Open by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience by P.M. Dawn, Brand New Man by Brooks & Dunn, Cypress Hill’s eponymous debut, Psychotic Supper by Tesla, Ropin' the Wind by Garth Brooks, No More Tears by Ozzy Osbourne, Emotions by Mariah Carey, Ceremony by The Cult, The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest, Diamonds and Pearls by Prince & The New Power Generation, Whenever We Wanted by John Mellencamp, Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, Achtung Baby by U2, and Dangerous by Michael Jackson.
And I probably left some out.

notes on cancer women
Cancer women don’t run down men. We MAKE them come to us with our lunar pull and when they’re with us we treat them better (sexually and otherwise) than almost any other woman in the zodiac. We’re the first water sign and as such, our pussies stay wet and we know how to get dicks hard as well as wet. We’re the best sex in the zodiac and men are hooked on us. We’re also the most feminine. We’re the women who can best intuit our man’s needs and desires. We’re the ones that can hang with his (guy) friends. We’re the ones who can even chill with other women, if they’re secure enough. We’re the ones he takes home to mom. Other girls are for a good time, we’re here for a long time. We’re the types that a man marries. We’re literally every woman. However, we’re also independent af so although we love to be with someone, most times we know how to be alone. My friends are constantly asking me when I will get a boyfriend and I have no intentions of dating right now (plus most relationships are shallow af so I don’t want to be part of that drama). Single life is lit.
Our personalities are so kind and deeply caring that they may look manufactured to a lot of people who don’t understand us, but trust me, they are REAL. We are THAT crazy lol. We HATE being fake and we hate fake people. I literally don’t understand how someone can be fake and live with themselves. Also, we get it, as the emotional creatures that we are, our personalities can go from one extreme to the next but WE CAN’T HELP IT. I sometimes don’t even understand my own goddamn self and I find myself doing shit I didn’t even think I would ever do the day before.
Depending on who you are and how you treat us, we can be the sensitive sweethearts you love, or we can be the sensitive sweethearts you love to hate. Whether we (or others) like it or not, most Cancer women generally express their feelings so openly and it makes all sorts of people get involved—and unfortunately it’s usually the wrong people.
As to the degree of emotional transparency we have…it depends on the moon sign of the Cancer woman really. As a Capricorn moon, the only, ONLY other person who can spot that something is wrong with me emotionally is my mother. I actually care about certain things, I have a really big heart to the few that deserve it, but I don’t really show it.
About the selfish thing, yes as Cardinal signs, we may come off as selfish human beings who have no regards for anyone but ourselves but when you get to know us, we really have one of the biggest hearts of the zodiac. We actually care for people, but we are a very cautious sign and we gotta know each other first before we care THAT much.
Oh and we let you walk out of our lives, so the “clingy” stereotype really needs to die. We’re loyal and we don’t give up on people, but we don’t really run down people either (at least not for too long). Just make sure that if you decide to walk away from us, be sure that you are REALLY done with us, because if you decide to try and come back in, it is 1000x harder the first time (if you’re accepted back at all).
We may come off as rude, but the truth is, we see bullshit before ANYONE else does. Our intuition is head and shoulders above ALL of the other signs. I remember two years ago, people wondered why I was constantly giving this girl the side eye whenever she was right beside me, two years later they FINALLY understand. Sometimes we really do say things that can actually hurt others (we sometimes don’t understand it because we’re the type to want people to like us) but most times we don’t mean to hurt anyone. We would go home and feel guilty about it and internalize it and feel bad for days. Well…that’s in my case.
I see a lot of utterances on here and elsewhere about how Cancers aren’t smart and aren’t regarded for their intelligence. Alan Turing? Helen Keller? Nikola Tesla, anyone? And again, we’re smart enough to see bullshit before anyone else does, so how tf are we dimwitted???
I also hear and read that we’re “followers”. Followers? Are you sure you are looking at the right zodiac sign? Because if anything, the unpopular truth is that folks follow us. We’re cardinal signs and we’re the leaders of emotion, as such, we make it okay for others to be kind and to care and to be nurturing and empathetic. We do our own thing, roll our own way and we like being uniquely us. We aren’t the ‘follow the crowd’ type of sign. If you are looking for that, head on over to Libras and Pisces.
Reading about how salty everyone is towards Cancer women, just goes to show that we are VERY misunderstood. We’re the shit without having to shit on anyone. I guess that burns people up, lol.
Also, if any of you people have any problems with a Cancer in your life (and by the way Cancers are talked about/not talked about/willfully ignored/written about/dismissed it seems everyone and their grandmother’s dog does lol), talk to them, be REAL with them. PLEASE tell them how you’re feeling. Tell them EVERYTHING. Vent it out. Even if it hurts. At the end of the day, we do not like fakeness and we are DEFINITELY not the sign to deal with that.
We can be earnest and genuine to a fault and we find it really annoying when confronted with someone who isn’t; we’ll try to deal with you to an extent, but the more evolved among us won’t even bother, we’ll just give up and walk away. If we just someone, the more evolved among us will take our actions into consideration since unlike all the other signs, we truly don’t like hurting anyone, ESPECIALLY the people we actually care about. Again, depending on the moon sign (since we’re lunar creatures), we may or may not show it, but we do care.
If we have a problem with a friend or lover, we have the rare ability to articulate it without sounding accusatory. But if we’ve done something wrong, we take the blame rather than blaming them. We are never jealous without reason, and no matter how badly someone wrongs us, we never fall into the trap of self-pity. We calm others down rather than get them riled up. Despite the unfortunate name of this star sign, we are the cure for relationship cancer.
I’m dying to know the date and time you fell to earth from heaven. Do you have pictures? You’re almost too good to be real, but in a world of fakes, you’re the real deal. You’re that good, and anyone who doesn’t realize it the moment that they meet you is going to cause you trouble. Whenever someone has a problem with you, I don’t even need to hear the details. I already know that they’re in the wrong. Did you ever hear someone say, “It’s not you—it’s me”? Trust them when they say that. It’s not you. It’s them. It’s never been you, and it’s ALWAYS been them.

Finally collecting these in a post—Atomic Robo robotswap ideas. This was more of a character design challenge than a real AU, but the concept kind of got away from me.
Rambling design notes + a couple panel redraws + some ideas I had for Helsingard and ALAN 1.0 under the cut:
This idea spiraled out of an old sketch by Wegner of real-boy Robo as a genetics experiment. I'm interpreting that as basically Wolverine minus the animal motifs (and generally much more well-adjusted).
I tried to mimic more elements of his bot design; for example the hair silhouette and the thick blue-tinted glasses, swapped for goggles as his lifestyle got more active. I guess sensitive eyes are a side effect of his mutations. (The classic superhero forehead curl on babyrobo has no design justification, I just couldn't resist.) His appearance would make the public of the '20s a little uncomfortable with seeing him as Tesla's son. Which feels very thematically appropriate.
I'm still calling him "Robo" because it feels weird not to, though it would be a nickname. Appropriate for a guy who never sleeps; plausibly derived from Robert/Ratko. (The American name would be how he's introduced to the public; the Serbian one used casually by Tesla.*) Honestly, it seems in-character for him to put down Robo as his actual legal name when he finally got that chance.
*Things I found out after picking these names for their superficial resemblance to "Robo": Robert means "famous, shining" and Ratomir means "defender of peace"; literally "war for peace". Definitely an affectionately ironic moniker for a son so determined to be an action hero. Though dear monolingual Robo probably wouldn't catch on until decades after Tesla's death... Well, now I've gone and made myself sad.
The action scientists are mostly an excuse to still draw robots. Let's say they're Robo's big midlife crisis project after realizing he was going to outlive his entire first team and not think about it too hard.
Vik (inspired by Robby the Robot) is the oldest of the models. He's optimized for processing power, which is how you get a robot that will try to suggest purely hypothetical (but mathematically sound!) solutions to urgent real-world problems. And enjoys TTRPGs of Turing-complete levels of complexity.
Lang (inspired by Robo) came shortly after, more optimized for the "action" part of action science. Being made of metal does wonders for your recoil management. (I know she hasn't had the hair buns in 10+ years, but that's what I was trying to do with the "antennae".)
Foley (inspired by Alan) is the newest model, optimized for human-robot interaction. Getting wifi installed in her head early on had the unexpected side effect of making her really good at understanding networks of all kinds.
BRN-3 wasn't built to be sentient. He's just a lab geological survey bot that began showing signs of sapience one day and attributes his own "enlightenment" to the "crystals" he'd been studying. This is obviously bullshit but nobody can give a better explanation, so...
Jenkins is literally just the Terminator, except his evil future is vampires instead of AI. He was sent back to kill Robo, which clearly didn't work, so they talked it out and now he just hangs around Tesladyne on high alert for anything that might kick off the apocalypse.
(I have no idea where Ada, Ben, and Koa fit in here, but I might come back to them later. Using their Agents of CHANGE power suits as android designs felt like cheating.)
Not included in these drawings are Helsingard and ALAN, but I'm considering switching around parts of their premises, too.
Helsingard was a Nazi supercomputer meant to calculate the perfect world-conquering strategy. Instead, it realized that Germany's loss was imminent and hid copies of itself around the planet. Every once in a while, someone accidentally boots up a copy and it tries to take over. In the modern age it's a total dice roll as to whether this will be horrifying (what major infrastructure isn't computerized these days?) or just kind of pathetic (it's too old to understand the internet and can easily get itself trapped in an office printer spitting toner and stacks of paper that read BEHOLD HELSINGARD).
ALAN (potential rename pending; the Turing connection is rather lost in the version I'm going with for now) is the world's second successful "unkillable" genetic experiment, a govt project during the Cold War to ensure that the last man alive in a nuclear winter scenario would be British. But it turns out telling a guy he's the next stage in human evolution and sealing him in a bunker for decades to await a chance to inherit the earth which doesn't come isn't great for his sense of compassion or morality. Eventually, ALAN decides to hurry things along before we inferior humans end the world in a less convenient way, and Robo has to... well, you know this part.
It turns out there was a secret phase 2 to this plan, which would have been to populate the solar system with perfect immortal mind-networked clones of himself. The single under-baked clone that it does manage to spit out before being shut down is our Alan :] He needs someone to look after him while his crazy healing powers fill in the missing chunks of his body and brain, and he didn't get a full memory upload from ALAN, so it's free son boy!
No changes were made to Dr. Dinosaur. He's already perfect.
#atomic robo#robotswap#bluef00t art#the part under the cut is pretty long I've been turning this over in my head for a while#there's definitely bits of continuity that don't quite work (even Wolverine would have trouble with the head-in-a-box-for-130-years thing)#but this isn't really about rewriting something coherent. this is about how fun it is to do panel redraws as warm-ups#000

Hey, weird question! I may be reading Atomic Robo wrong, but to me it seems that in the later issues with Alan, but also earlier with the relation between Robo and Tesla, parenthood and family becomes one of the themes of the comic.
It's pretty obvious that Robo at least kind of sees Tesla as his dad (and Tesla propably also saw their relationship a bit like that, as we can see with his protectiveness in The Deadly Art of Science), and Robo himself absolutely fills a father figure role to Alan (Lang even called him out for building a robot son). And Alan (both good Alan and evil ALAN) seemed to also Alan Turing as a distant biological parent, sort of.
Yet, we never see either Robo or Alan call their respective father figure... "dad" or something like that I guess. For Robo it's usually a quite formal "Mr. Tesla", and for Alan it's simply Robo (and a quite formal Dr. Turing for what is in a way his bio father)
Is there any particular reason for that? For Alan especially, I feel like at this point it's something the rest of Tesladyne could have picked up on. And for Robo... Foley's right I guess, he needs therapy.
Or maybe I'm just failing to apply a very human point of view to robots that have no reason to mimic ._.
Not a weird question at all.
There are a couple things we're doing with Alan you're meant to notice almost subconsciously. It might need a couple re-readings for someone to ask themselves about it. This is one of those things.
It is strange that Robo and Alan are kinda formal with one another despite the fact that it's contextually clear they consider one another to be father/son.
Part of this is stems from Robo's model of parenthood. There's an emotional distance to our Tesla. Not because he's uncaring or disinterested, quite the opposite, he cares about and is deeply interested in about ten thousand things. So he comes off as a bit aloof.
Like in Deadly Art of Science, Robo is excited about this once in a lifetime (Oh, Robo) adventure that he's stumbled into. But by the end of the volume we have the sense that Tesla was aware of Edison's machinations for quite a while. Possibly the whole time and maybe even before the volume began but who's to say. He spent his evenings quietly tinkering away on a side project like it was a mild curiosity — build a new Telluric Suit to stop Edison before his work threatens all life on Earth. Yet it never occurred to him to mention any of this to his lab partner, assistant, and son whom he quite literally knew for a fact thirsted for exactly this sort of adventure, because For Tesla It Was Tuesday.
We see this sort of thing with Robo and Tesla throughout Deadly Art. When Tesla sends Robo into the vampire dimension it's not out of negligence for Robo's safety. He knows it's dangerous. But so is literally everything they do in the lab! Robo is the first person to ever travel to another universe and he treats it like an annoying trip to the corner store in the rain. The joke here, of course, is that Robo's life with Tesla is already full of incredible adventures, but since it's the only life he knows and since it doesn't look like the adventures he sees in the pulps, he assumes anything Tesla is getting up to must be dumb old boring dad stuff.
What I'm getting at is that I don't think Robo knows how or when to reach out. I feel like he's waiting for Alan to signal that he views their relationship as explicitly father-and-son as opposed to the informal father-and-son-like arrangement/rhythm they've got. Meanwhile Alan, the dope, is waiting for Robo to signal that he wants a signal from Alan to acknowledge this.

In a future world filled with numerous global challenges like inequality, corruption, environmental crises, social unrestan and all of the aspect **Mr. Peabody**, a genius dog with a time machine called WABAC, forms a bold plan to bring historical figures from the past to the present. They could help us fix the world’s problems, and in return, they can learn from our era and perhaps even change their own historical paths for the better.” Like who knows if they all can help with this ways ?" Peabody agrees with the idea and mobilizes his company to perfect the WABAC machine. This allows historical figures to visit the modern world, help solve its crises, and return to their own times once their work is done.
From there, Kayleen is promoted to be the Director of Historical Integration of Mr. Peabody's project, heading up **TeamForthcoming**, a group created to make this vision a reality.
