Há 20 anos atrás Romário chegava ao Futebol Árabe e era recebido como um Príncipe para defender o Al Sadd

O atacante Romário está deixando o Fluminense. O artilheiro, de 37 anos, acertou com um clube do futebol árabe um contrato de 100 dias, pelo qual receberá US$ 1,5 milhão, cerca de R$ 54 mil diários.

De olho nas ofertas milionárias, o atacante Romário foi o primeiro brasileiro famoso a se aventurar no desconhecido futebol do Qatar, em pleno Oriente Médio.

Os últimos detalhes da viagem de Romário foram definidos por Wilson Gottardo, ex-zagueiro do Flamengo e Botafogo, que intermediou a transação. ''Foram 30 dias de intensas negociações, onde procuramos preservar os direitos de todas as partes, no caso o Fluminense e o próprio jogador'', explicou.

Gottardo também ressaltou a lisura de todos, desde os contatos iniciais com o clube árabe até com o procurador de Romário e com os dirigentes do Fluminense. Há pouco mais de um ano, o ex-zagueiro abriu uma empresa especializada em dar assistência a jogadores. Atendendo os interesses de mais de 30 profissionais, a empresa Thronos tem duas sedes: Campinas e Rio de Janeiro.

Recebido com pompa e circunstância em Doha, capital do Qatar, Romário corre o risco de não poder representar o seu novo clube, o Al-Sadd, na Taça dos Campeões Asiáticos. É que o regulamento da competição determina que todos os jogadores devem ser inscritos com pelo menos com 30 dias de antecedência em relação as quartas-de-final da competição, que serão disputados entre os dias 9 e 15 Março, nos Emirados Árabes Unidos.

Problemas burocráticos à parte, o veterano atacante, que vai ganhar cerca de 1,2 milhões de euros para atuar 100 dias no Qatar, teve uma recepção de príncipe na chegada ao país, na noite de quinta-feira. Além dos torcedores que o foram aguardar no aeroporto, teve direito a flores, um bolo a reproduzir um campo de futebol e que tinha a inscrição "Bem-Vindo, Romário" e, o melhor de tudo, ganhou uma Ferrari como presente.

guys have you heard of romain basically being kicked out of Al-Sadd because they need a slot for another foreign player. Like. I'm the first to respect qatari and saudi leagues willing to develop and I'm the first who tries to put the whole sportwashing thing into a context that is less western-centric (do they do sportwashing, absolutely. this does not mean europe + usa don't do it too).

But like this is disgraceful isn't it, and there's no denying they do some incredible shady shit to players. I'm so glad hakim said no in the end.
