2 NFL Player Deaths Under 35 — NEXT!
Let's get to the first death that occurred in May 2024.
The next and final death I am going to discuss happened one month prior in April 2024.
First of all, did you catch that?
Both players' deaths were under six months ago. This year.
Did you hear about either one?
And, even if you did during the off season, they have both been swept under the collective rug with 300+ other NFL CTE corpses now that the regular season is underway.
The first death is Ray Lewis Jr.'s, Hall of Fame Ravens Linebacker's, son Ray Lewis III, at 28.
He technically wasn't an NFL player but he did play professionally at the indoor arena level as well as playing at Miami University.
Ray Lewis’ (Hall of Fame Ravens Linebacker) son, Ray Lewis III,died at 28 this May of an accidental drug overdose.
He had Stage II CTE.
He started tackle football at age 5.
He played college football at his father's, Ray Lewis', alma mater, for the Miami University Hurricanes then he pursued a career in professional indoor arena football.
Google:
"Lewis’ family stated in the years leading up to his death, Lewis experienced issues with memory, was extremely forgetful & exhibited erratic, sporadic behavior & impulsivity.
His mother suspected he was battling CTE."
His autopsy report revealed an accidental cause of death due to a mixture of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, alcohol & anti-anxiety pills.
His father remains just as indoctrinated into the cult of football after his sons CTE induced accidental drug overdose at 28:
“We are proud to honor Ray Rays legacy by teaching OUR YOUTH about football SAFETY while sharing & supporting research on CTE.”
The emphasis with the capitalization added by me to convey my utter and complete total disgust — safety???????????????????????????
The mother had a totally different & sane take:
“Little did I know when I put my son in tackle football at age 5, I ran the risk of burying him 22 years later. I would have done things different now knowing the risks. We need to wait until our babies are at least 14 to allow them to play tackle football. It breaks my heart that you have to die to get a diagnosis for this disease.”
This only happened four months ago in May and I didnt hear one word about it before today and I only came across it today because I regularly research the effects of tackle football, the consequences of repetitive subconcussive head impacts & concussions & the NFL's, NCAA's & Pop Warner's continued deception & subterfuge dating back 100 years to the literal 1930's that repetitive SUBconcussive head impacts, NOT concussions, are the cause of degenerative neurological conditions & disorders like CTE, Parkinson's disease, ALS, Alzheimers, dementia & Lewey Body Disease.
So, I am always researching and coming across something which is the only reason I saw anything today regarding Ray Lewis' son dying of an accidental drug overdose and being posthumously diagnosed with Stage II CTE at the age of 28.
The delirium of a new NFL season is already upon us and, as we approach Week 3, there is already the requisite breathless reporting, endless storylines, drama & spectacle that accompanies each and every single season of football.
Even Hall of Fame linebacker for the Ravens, Ray Lewis', son dying of an accidental drug overdose & being diagnosed with Stage II CTE during the off season this May barely made a blip on our collective NFL obsessed radar and it clearly wasn't even an afterthought by the time the NFL season got underway a mere four months later earlier this month in September.
Nothing stops the NFL machine — not even the CTE induced accidental overdose death of one of the leagues most famous & recently voted greatest linebacker of all time's 28 year old son.
The show always goes on.
Sickeningly, depravedly, mind numbingly, thoughtlessly, inhumanely, unfairly & unjustly.
But the show does goes on.
It always does in the NFL.
Nothing seemingly ever stops the non-stop allure and spectacle of the game.
Google:
"Ray Lewis III told The Baltimore Sun that he hoped to follow in his fathers footsteps:
“One day, I do dream of making it to the NFL. But I also have a dream of making a difference in peoples lives outside the football field.”
He died before the age of 30!
He died alone per the police report surrounded by anti-anxiety pills & a used drug needle!
Is the sport of football worth that much?
What makes people question football?
Does anything make us collectively stop and question ourselves and our rabid obsession & compulsive desire to endlessly consume a sport that is endlessly consuming its own players?
Or is it just, on to Chiefs Falcons Sunday night?
Well, I have a question amongst all the early NFL season hoopla, hyperbole & mass hysteria.
Football IS mass hysteria.
Why does anyone have to DIE to learn a LIFE lesson???
Ray Lewis III started tackle at age 5.
23 years of tackle football started at the absolute youngest & insanest age allowed by Pop Warner.
Dead at 28 from the sport of football which absolutely should have been included as an underlying cause of death on his death certificate.
It wasnt but it absolutely should have been.
In every case where the individual dies and is diagnosed with CTE — whether it was a drug overdose, accident, suicide, heart attack, etc. — CTE absolutely should be listed, not as the immediate cause, but definitely as an underlying cause of death.
And right next to CTE it should say — "Caused by X years of participation in tackle football".
But it won't, will it?
Because of the NFL, its farm system the NCAA & its feeder system, Pop Warner.
The $1 billion concussion settlement doesnt even cover CTE!
Players with CTE & their families only get payments under the settlement if they also had dementia symptoms along with their CTE diagnosis.
The NFL is cruel & sociopathic.
So, trust that the record breaking $13 billion that the NFL generated in revenue last season protects them from ever having to actually give a damn.
And certainly, prevents death certificates from being filled out honestly.
And prevents the American Academy of Pediatrics from recommending that 5 year old children — like Ray Lewis III — don't endure 336 head impacts a season on average in youth tackle football.
How is permanent brain damage safe for children?
All the hallmarks of CTE, including the symptoms & dangerous attempts to self-medicate leading to an untimely death, are present in the last years of Ray Lewis III's life as well as in his tragic death at 28.
The highly vaunted ironically titled “life lessons” imparted from “the game of football” often leaves its male participants fucking DEAD — just a small little detail always overlooked by footballs’ most rabid acolytes, fanatics & especially current & former participants, as well as the most hyped ambassadors of the game, who like Ray Lewis III's father & newest Fox analyst Tom Brady, are often the loudest & most unapologetic proponents, defenders & proselytizers of "the game".
You can learn the SAME exact lessons without fucking dying young & early for no fucking reason!
Basketball. Baseball. Track. Volunteering. Marathons. Debate teams. Chess. Reading clubs. Hiking. Camping. Rock climbing. Lifting weights. Travel. Solitude. Meditation. Vow of silence. Fasting. Minimalism. Frugality. Chastity. Abstinence. Restrictive food consumption. Analog living without digital or electronic devices. Esotericism. Spiritual enlightenment. Total environmental quietude - no music, podcasts, youtube, streaming, TV, movies, videogames, no sound noise or aural distractions. Being a magician, illusionist or mentalist. Aerialism. Fire breathing. Acrobatics. Dance. Acting. Singing. Writing. Poetry. Painting. Drawing. Illustrations. Screenplays. Improv. Comedy. Breakdancing. Street performance. Abstract art. Conceptual & performance art. Philosophy.
This is a very partial & incomplete list but certainly gets my point across.
I am purposely leaving off soccer until they get rid of heading the ball and ice hockey until they remove checking against the boards as that has led to players in both sports being posthumously diagnosed with CTE. Wrestling, with its takedowns, has also resulted in athletes being posthumously diagnosed with CTE. Mixed martial arts & boxing have all the same issues as football in terms of CTE so I have not included either sport in my above list. Lacrosse also causes many repetitive subconcussive head impacts so it is not included in the above list.
There are SO many different endeavors one can pursue in life that can discipline the mind, challenge the self, sharpen the will & resolve, instill perseverance & steadfastness.
I reject the disgusting militaristic & hegemonic notion that boys & men can only learn these lessons by pulverizing their bodies, battering their brains & destroying their minds through the “game” of football which, if you make it to the top echelon of the sport at the NFL level, leaves 1/3 of its participants per the NFL’s own actuaries with a neurological condition or disorder like CTE, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, dementia & Lewy Body Dementia.
You don't have to DIE to learn a LIFE LESSON!
Football is a true cult.
So, that was the first off season football death with a player under 35 that occurred this off season in May 2024.
Let's discuss the second one that occurred a month prior, in April 2024.
Literally, only five months ago.
And it's already been disappeared by the viscera and spectacle of the NFL which washes away its' own dead participants.
Will Tua & Damar be added to the hundreds of the ever growing list of dead NFL players killed by the sport of football?
Tune into NFL Game Day Morning this Sunday to hear Eisen, Mooch, Irv & Warner breathlessly analyze, debate, breakdown & discuss!
Vontae Davis was a former Pro Bowl linebacker for the Colts, Bills & Dolphins.
Vontae's brother, Vernon, is also a former Pro Bowler as well as a Super Bowl winner.
Vontae was found dead alone inside of his mansion in April 2024 slumped over unconscious inside of his gym at 35.
While there was never a cause of death released to the public, per The Daily Mail, Vontae's ex-wife Meg Harpe, claimed that it was "100% CTE" and that there was definitely more to the story via a text message she sent to the publication.
Vontae's brother, Vernon, confirmed to the media that Vontae never did drugs and was the owner of a holistic wellness spa and had a team of chiropractors and massage & stretch therapists constantly at his mansion.
While Vernon was dismissive of CTE claims telling reporters that there was no way to diagnose that in a living person, Vontae himself admitted in an interview with CNN that he was concerned he had CTE and cited it as one of the reasons for his abrupt retirement from the NFL during halftime of a game.
In the CNN interview, Vontae claimed that he experienced an “out of body, spiritual moment” on the sidelines that led to a profound realization that football no longer aligned with his well being which caused him to abruptly retire from the league in the locker room at halftime.
While no cause of death was released to the public, the police did state there were no signs of a break in or foul play.
However, if we go back about a year prior to Dontae's death, there is a very familiar at this point decline and downward spiral in his personal life which makes me believe he did have CTE.
In January 2023, Dontae Davis was arrested in a DUI incident where he slammed his Tesla into a stationary truck injuring the owner who had been attempting to change a flat tire.
Dontae had just left a night club and was found asleep on the literal side of the road outside of his vehicle by police.
The same year in 2023, Dontae also divorced his wife, Megan Harpe, of eight years.
Additionally, Dontae faced two lawsuits in 2023, one from his father as he was in Dontae's vehicle during the DUI incident and a second from a vendor regarding non-payment issues for one of Dontae's businesses.
We have seen this precipitous decline before in football players suffering from CTE.
Dontae was a 10 year NFL veteran & multi Pro Bowl winner.
Dontae intercepted Tom Brady twice — once while guarding Randy Moss — Peyton Manning & Brett Favre once.
Dontae was a multipreneur who wisely invested his NFL millions into two businesses, a holistic wellness spa & a luxury chauffeur business.
Dontae was also working on a documentary about how he and his brother rose from impoverished backgrounds, with parents who suffered from drug addiction & alcoholism, enduring violence & trauma as they witnessed their uncle shoot their father, to become multi Pro Bowl NFL veterans with Vernon winning a Super Bowl.
Dontae was also committed to holistic wellness and did not even like to take OTC medication and stopped taking Toradol during his time in the league once he researched the long term consequences.
Dontae started his holistic wellness spa because he was committed to helping others heal in a holistic and integrative sense.
Dontae was also unafraid to follow his heart even when faced with enduring the backlash of millions of angry Bills fans demanding to know why he had supposedly "quit on the team".
Imagine you are an NFL player, a veteran who just turned 30 after having your third groin surgery, on a $5 million prove it deal with the Buffalo Bills.
Would you have the courage to walk out during halftime if you had had an epiphany on the sidelines as Vontae said he did?
From Vontae's Instagram post & personal tweet:
”I have been doing what my body has been PROGRAMMED to do”.
Tackling & running drills from Pop Warner to the Pros are Pavlovian whistle blowing conditioning brainwashing exercises of repetitive brutalistic violence!
Decades of tackling & hitting drills that literally brainwash these men as children to commit acts of violence upon one another. Its fucking creepy & dystopian as fuck if you really think about it. It is extremely militaristic but these are kids participating in these violent repetitive brain damaging tackling and hitting drills so it is even more dystopian — 5, 7, 9, 11, even 13 years old — they are legally minors, they are not adults!
They are children!
Why are they endlessly hitting each other in creepy violent militaristic drills with Pavlovian whistle blowing?
How else do you get them to override their bodys natural self defense mechanisms?
How else do you get them to turn off their natural self preservation instincts, go out there and hit somebody!
From Vontae's Instagram post & personal tweet:
“Its more important to me and my family to stop sacrificing myself for this game and to walk away healthy than to continue to embrace the WARRIOR MENTALITY and limp away when its too late”.
Warrior mentality is nothing but the brainwashing I described above.
Vontae simply told Coach McDermott that he was "done", removed his jersey and pads, walked out of the locker room and drove home.
Predictable backlash, personal insults & attacks & unmitigated fury ensued among some of Vontae's former Bills teammates, NFL analysts, team journalists and ofcourse the ever rabid and demanding "fans".
Why did Vontae describe this self-realization to CNN as an "out of body experience"?
Because he woke up from a literal lifetime of brainwashing to commit mindless violent acts since he was a child — tackling & hitting drills normalized in America's brutalistic militaristic culture — very publicly during a game at halftime.
And he had the courage not to suppress his realization & to remove his jersey — the ultimate talisman & almost mystical symbol representing all he had broken his body & bashed his brain for since he was a child in Pop Warner — the NFL team jersey with team logo proudly emblazoned on solid bold bright team colors — decades of brainwashing & Pavlovian conditioning — & he walked out of the stadium a free Black man — there is nothing more dangerous to the NFL and to the white supremacist capitalistic exploitative racist mass incarcerating colonialist AmeriKKKa.
The lifelong brainwashing that started when Vontae was a child had been short-circuited by his own self actualization.
ESPN.com:
“But his mind felt far away — like he was going through the motions in a game he had spent decades playing.”
Vontae sat on the bench on the sidelines then he realized what was happening.
His mind had finally caught up with his body.
Mentally, he was finished.
Vontae felt scared and vulnerable and wasn't sure what to do — all he knew was that he couldn't return to the field. He needed to get away.
“Im done.” Vontae told his defensive coordinator.
He removed his Bills jersey & pads & texted his wife.
“Babe, Im done. Im hanging up my cleats. I dont want to put my body through this anymore.”
Vontae called his brother Vernon who was in the Redskins locker room at halftime.
The brothers never called each other during games so Vernon answered right away.
“Im retired.” Vontae said.
Vernons heart sank. “Are you joking or are you serious?”
“…Im tired.” Vontae replied.
ESPN.com:
Dontae says, in the moment when he realized football was no longer his purpose, he felt overwhelmed but he trusted himself and left the field.
“It was honestly one of the best decisions I've made in my life.”
Dead at 35.
His ex-wife who he divorced last year that he was married to for 8 years said he “100% had CTE” and “there was more to the story” of his death.
No official cause of death was ever released to the public despite a full autopsy being done.
It does not appear that Vontae's brain was ever donated to be tested for CTE despite Vontae himself telling CNN in an interview that he feared he had CTE and it was one of the reasons for his sudden and abrupt retirement from the NFL.
10 years in the NFL. 3 years at Illinois. 4 years in high school. Multiple years in youth tackle football.
As a cornerback, all of those hits, all of those collisions, all of those head impacts, all of that violence adds up.
And, given the fact that he was running two successful businesses, had been married for nearly a decade, had wisely invested his NFL earnings and was extensively traveling before his life began to unravel a little more than a year before he was found dead alone in his mansion...
How many times do we have to see this movie?
Do you honestly think that Vontae Davis didn't die at 35 — just like Ray Lewis' son did at 28 — from the sport of football?
Or do you just not give a damn?
The sport of football with all its attendant spectacle, pageantry, glamour, allure, gloss, shine, breathless anticipation, endless storylines, drama, exhilarating highs, adrenaline rushes and of course the vicarious thrill of the violence along with the constant dehumanization of the players and minimization of the brutality of the sport by every analyst, color commentator, sideline reporter and journalist gives you a license not to give a damn.
The violence is sanitized and Photoshopped for your viewing pleasure and enjoyment.
Don't forget to order a large Papa John's along with your CTE drug overdoses and deaths under 35.

Ultimate Playlist: Women’s Names, T-Z
Ah, so many letters here at the end of the alphabet that just don’t get much use when it comes to naming women. I couldn’t find a worthy song for X—it’s the only letter missing in the playlist.
Dear Theodosia by Lin-Manuel Miranda Sung by Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr and Lin-Manuel Miranda playing Alexander Hamilton, the song presents two fathers welcoming their children into the world, declaring that they will fight to make it better for them. Of course, Hamilton’s son Philip dies in a duel defending his father’s honor, Theodosia is lost at sea during a hurricane, and Burr kills Hamilton. Lovely song, though.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something This song is about a couple without much in common who both kind of like the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s (based on a book by the same name), which opens with the main character, Holly Golightly, eating her breakfast in front of the Tiffany & Co. flagship store in New York. Tiffany & Co. is a jewelry store founded by the jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany. I’m still counting “Tiffany” as a woman’s name.
Sister Tilly by Natalie Merchant Merchant described this one as a love song or all the women in her mother’s generation. It’s both parts lament for their passing and celebration of their feminism and pride.
Uma Thurman by Fall Out Boy This song was inspired by empowered women like the characters Uma Thurman played in Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction. It samples the opening theme from The Munsters.
Valerie by Mark Ronson, sung by Amy Winehouse This song was originally written and recorded by The Zutons. It refers to Valerie Star, a makeup artist and friend of lead singer Dave McCabe. She was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
Valleri by The Monkees Don Kirshner, president and music supervisor of Screen Gems, asked Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart if they had any “girl’s-name” songs they could use for the Monkees TV show. They told him they did and proceeded to improvise Valleri on their way to his office.
Stuck in a Closet with Vanna White by “Weird Al” Yankovic Al sings to his doctor about the strange dreams he has every night, which all end up with him stuck in a closet with Vanna White, co-host of the game show Wheel of Fortune.
Meet Virginia by Train According to the band, Virginia is “real parts of real woman [sic] that make up a woman that I’ve always wanted to meet.”
Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel Inspired by Billy Joel’s high school love interest, Virginia Callahan, the song created controversy when it was released, as the protagonist is determined to have sex with a Catholic girl. Religious groups tried to ban it, which of course caused it to shoot up the charts.
Wendy by The Beach Boys Wendy left me alone. Hurt so bad.
Be My Yoko Ono by Barenaked Ladies The singer compares his relationship with the girl he loves to the one between John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This song was the band’s first single, winning them CFNY-FM’s Discovery to Disc contest and enough money to record their first, full-length album.
Zoe Jane by Staind Aaron Lewis wrote this song as a tribute to his daughter, explaining how he feels about being on the road for so long and missing her growing up.
88 Lines About 44 Women by The Nails There’s no better song for the finale of this playlist. They don’t have any women’s names that start with X either.
There you have it. A playlist containing 164 songs and a runtime of 10 hours and 32 minutes.

Tugger & Nicknames
I think Tugger calls Bomba "Cherry bomb," sometimes "Cherry" for short.
Old Deuteronomy is "'Ole Daddy Deut."
Munkustrap is "Monkeystraps" or just "'Straps."
Demeter is "Goldilocks" or "Skittles" depending on her mood. "Goldilocks" or "Goldi" is a term of endearment, while "Skittles" is usually used to warn others that Demeter is *not* in the mood.
Jemima is "Jemmsy dear," or "Jemmibean."
Alonzo is "Al," "Lonz," or "Lonzie," again depending on Alonzo's mood.
Asparagus Jr. is literally just, "Jr."
Bustopher is "Busto" but never to his face.
Cassandra is "Cass," "Cassie," or "Sandra," to annoy her.
Coricopat is "Cori" or "Rico." He doesn't care which.
Electra is "Lettie."
Etcetera is "Cettie" and she loves it!
Poor George is always just "Georgie."
Gus is just...Gus.
Jellylorum is Jellylorum to her face and "Jelly" to others.
Jennyanydots is "Dottie" or "Dots."
He always lovingly calls Mistoffelees "The Magical Mr. Mistoffelees."
Mungojerrie is "Jerrie."
He called Plato "mini-Mac" once and it didn't go down well.
Pouncival is "Hurricane."
Rumpleteazer is "Klepto."
Skimbleshanks is "Shanks," and he hates it.
Tantomile is "Tanto." Like her brother, she doesn't really care what Tugger calls her.
Tumblebrutus is simply, "Sir Falls-a-lot."
Victoria is "Tori," but he doesn't use this one much.
Tugger started the nickname game as a kitten, and now he's involved Mungo and Rumple. It's a disaster.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
August 30, 2021
Heather Cox Richardson
At 3:29 ET on August 30, 2021—early on the morning of August 31 in Afghanistan—the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan ended. It was the longest war in American history.
Among the last to come home were the 13 Americans killed in an ISIS-K attack last Thursday. They arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Sunday morning from Germany. President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, and 8 aides attended the dignified transfer between the plane and a waiting vehicle.
In the last 17 days in Afghanistan, U.S. troops evacuated more than 120,000 people, making up the largest airlift in our history. For comparison, as Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post pointed out, the U.S. evacuated no Americans from the civil war in Yemen in 2015, and only about 167 from Libya in 2011.
While critics have suggested that America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan will hurt American credibility abroad, President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have called for combatting terrorism through financial sanctions, bombing, and drone strikes like the one they used to retaliate against ISIS-K for the attack on the Kabul airport that killed more than 160 Afghans and 13 Americans last Friday, and by strengthening democracy at home.
There is plenty of work to do on that last front.
Last week, Peter Wehner, who served in the Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush administrations, pointed out in The Atlantic that the right wing has moved to such extremism that former president Trump, whose behavior seemed so shocking in 2015 and 2016, is now being sidelined by lawmakers and pundits who are even more extreme.
Yesterday, in an event hosted by the Macon County Republican Party, Representative Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) insisted that the January 6 rioters are “political hostages” and said he wanted to “bust them out.” When someone in the audience asked “When are you going to call us to Washington again?” he said, “We are actively working on that one…. We have a few plans in motion that I can’t make public right now.” He called for removing Biden from office under the 25th Amendment and added, “when Kamala Harris inevitably screws up, we will take them down, one at a time.” He concluded by saying: “The Second Amendment was not written so that we can go hunting or we can shoot sporting clays…. The Second Amendment was written so that we can fight against tyranny.”
Increasingly, right-wing agitators are calling for violent overthrow of the government.
Today in Pennsylvania, Steve Lynch, a candidate for Northampton County executive, said: “Forget going into these school boards with freaking data. You go into these school boards to remove them. I’m going in with 20 strong men and I’m gonna give them an option—they can leave or they can be removed.”
At a protest in Santa Monica yesterday before a vote on a mask mandate, a man held a sign with the names and home addresses of each Los Angeles City Council member and said protesters would go to the homes of anyone who voted for the mandate and, if it passed, “Civil War is coming! Get your guns!”
This sort of street-level violence is known for radicalizing individuals as they get swept up in it and then later embrace the larger political arguments behind it. It also forces more reasonable individuals out of government positions as they conclude that their position on a school board, for example, is not worth threats against their families and their lives.
Far from trying to tamp down this violence, right-wing leaders are egging it on. Tonight, on the Fox News Channel, personality Tucker Carlson told his audience that no leader had apologized for “these terrible decisions” in Afghanistan. “This can’t go on,” he said. “When leaders refuse to hold themselves accountable, over time, people revolt…. We need to change course immediately… or else the consequences will be awful.”
The images on the screen behind Carlson were of President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, Defense Secretary Austin, and Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley. Carlson often tries to undermine the current leadership of the military, suggesting that he would welcome its replacement by officers he finds less objectionable.
Republican offense may be an attempt at defense.
Today, Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS), chair of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, announced that the committee has demanded that 35 major communications companies preserve their records from April 1, 2020, to January 31, 2021, for people involved in the January 5 and January 6 rallies in Washington, D.C., or “potentially involved with discussions” about stopping the electoral vote count on January 6 or otherwise “potentially involved with discussions" in planning the January 6 insurrection. According to CNN, the companies affected include cell phone giants Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Sprint. Social media companies covered under the request include Apple, Google, Facebook, Signal, Slack, YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter.
CNN reports that members of the committee have requested preservation of the records of representatives Cawthorn, Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Jody Hice (R-GA), and Scott Perry (R-PA). They have also asked the companies to preserve the records of former president Trump; those of his children Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump; and those of his daughter-in-law Lara Trump and Don Jr.’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, who worked on the campaign.
Those determined to regain control of the country from the Democrats also have to contend with continuing good news from Biden’s policies. A new study from the Center on Poverty and Social Policy at Columbia University shows that the first child tax credit payment kept 3 million children from falling below the poverty line and that the child poverty rate dropped from 15.8% in June to 11.9% in July. Coronavirus relief measures kept another 3 million children from poverty. Families are using the money to buy food and pay off debt.
The administration is also coordinating aid to the states hit hard by Hurricane Ida, which brought up to 15 inches of rain to parts of Louisiana and knocked out the state’s power grid. The administration deployed more than 3,600 employees of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, who prepared more than 3.4 million meals, millions of liters of water, more than 35,700 tarps, and roughly 200 generators in the region before the storm hit. They have moved ambulances and search and rescue teams into the area and have opened shelters. The Army Corps of Engineers has mobilized personnel to remove debris and to provide temporary roofing and housing.
The administration is shifting its focus from unilateral military might to multilateral alliances to deal with common problems. Tomorrow, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will leave for Asia, where he will meet with leaders from Japan and then China to bolster international cooperation on climate change before the meeting of the 2021 U.N Climate Change Conference in early November.

2020 Voting
To preface this, these are just my opinions of course, and I am not trying to sway anyone, nor make the decision for them. I just did the research and sent it to my family so figured I would share with all of you as well if it would help! Also, the 2 Referendums at the end only apply to Florida voters, so feel free to ignore. :) My source is Ballottopia as well as the sources on Wikipedia.

Constitutional Amendments
· No. 1 Constitutional Amendment Article VI Section 2: Restricts the right to vote NO
· No. 2 Constitutional Amendment Article X, Section 24: YES, no hidden agenda, amazing this got on the ballot at all. the minimum wage will be raged to a living wage for everyone, even though it’s still not fast enough for a lot of people. There is a threat on the ballot that this will negatively impact the state net budget, but really? Don’t we have a responsibility to pay a bit more to cover our fellow humans?
· No 3. Constitutional Amendment Article VI, Section 5: YES, would give all voters the right to vote in the primary, including nonpartisan, which is what should have been happening all along. This will even the playing field for Millennials and Zoomers who tend not to identify with either dominant party, no hidden agenda.
· No. 4 Constitutional Amendment Article XI, Sections 5 and 7: NO, puts more power in the hands of the legislature and less in the hands of the people, takes more time and money to get changes passed, in states where this has passed it has become harder to get changes made to the state constitution and legislature
· No. 5 Constitutional Amendment Article VII, Section 4 and Article XII: NO, would reduce property tax revenue available for funding local schools and other services like police, fire and infrastructure
· No. 6 Constitutional Amendment Article VII, Section 6 and Article XII: YES, though proposed and supported purely by Republicans there are no hidden agendas and the amendment would cause no defunding anywhere else.
Referendums
· School Capital Outlay Sales Surtax to improve Safety and the Learning Environment: YES, though uncertain about the application of the funds particularly in reference to the charter schools that are included in the improvements.
· Amending Jacksonville Charter Granting City Council Authority to Appoint and Remove Four JEA Board Members: NO, this one, it’s simply mind boggling. Why on earth would I want city council to have a hand in JEA? JEA is running themselves just fine, they had our backs during the hurricane and we’re going to have their backs now.

• Adriano Visconti (Libyan R.A. Ace)
Major Adriano Visconti di Lampugnano was one of Italy's top flying aces of the Second World War, shooting down between 10 and 26 enemy aircraft.
Adriano Visconti was born in Tripoli, Libya on November 11th, 1915 the son of Galeazzo and Cecilia Dall’Aglio Visconti. His father and mother were two Italian colonists who settled in Tripolitania since 1911. Since his teenage years he showed passion for airplanes. In October 1936 Visconti joined the Regia Aeronautica and trained at the Royal Academy in Caserta. After receiving his flying wings Adriano trained on the Breda BA 25 and later on the RO 41. In 1939 Visconti was assigned to the 50o Stormo, 159a Sq. ground attack unit stationed in Bengasi, Libya.
At the outbreak of the war, Visconti flew combat missions using the BA 65 from June to the end of December 1940. He was soon briefly posted to 2º Gruppo Aviazione Presidio Coloniale's 23ª Squadriglia for disciplinary reasons, but was allowed to return to his original unit for "heroism under fire": Visconti's Breda Ba 65 had been attacked by three 33 Squadron Gladiators but, because of his skill as a pilot, Visconti and his crew escaped the encounter. For this action, in addition to being allowed to return to 50º Stormo, Visconti was awarded the first of his Medaglia di Bronzo (Bronze Star). From June 1940 until the end of that year he flew continually without leave, and was awarded another Bronze medal and two Medaglia d'argento. By January 1941 50º Stormo had taken such heavy losses that the unit was disbanded. Visconti was detached to the 54º Stormo, 7º Gruppo, 76ª Squadriglia, where he learned to fly the Macchi C.200. He then flew the superior Macchi C.202 from the end of 1941. On December 22nd, 1941, in a dogfight over Malta, he was credited with a "probable" Hawker Hurricane. His first official air victory was on the June 15th, 1942, when he shot down a Bristol Blenheim near the island of Pantelleria. On August 13th, 1942 while flying with a wingman in a formation of two C.202s on a reconnaissance flight over Malta looking for a shipping convoy, the Italian aircraft were bounced by four Supermarine Spitfire escorting the ships. Visconti, only flying the Macchi for the second time, was able to shoot down two Spitfires and damage the other two, allowing the other Macchi to complete the reconnaissance mission. For this double air victory, Visconti was awarded a Medaglia d'Argento al Valor Militare (Silver Medal of Military valour).
After Italy signed the armistice in 1943, Visconti continued to fly with the newly formed National Republican Air Force (Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana, or ANR) of the Italian Social Republic (Repubblica Sociale Italiana, or RSI). Shortly after joining the ANR, Visconti was promoted to Captain, commanding the 1st Squadron in the 1st Gruppo Caccia. In May 1944, he was promoted to Major. Until the disbanding of the ANR in 1945, Visconti flew the Macchi C.205 and the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10. He was credited with his first "kill" with the ANR on January 3rd, 1944, when, flying a C.205, he downed a P-38 Lightning South of the Piedmontese city of Cuneo. Visconti was wounded on several occasions, but never seriously. Although he never claimed more than ten kills some later source credited him with 26. Most of his victories were while flying the Macchi 205V; the last, a P-47 over Lake Garda, on March 14th, 1945, was in a Bf 109 G10 designated "3-4" but in reality was only a "claim", since the pilot he met in the head-on dogfight wasn't actually shot down. On the 14th of March 1945 Adriano Visconti was shot down, by the USAAF pilot, 2nd/Lt Charles Clark Eddy Jr. in a P-47 he named "Chickenbones" of 346th FS, 350th FG. They were in a dogfight in the Lake Garda area when Visconti's plane was hit and disabled by Eddy in a frontal attack, Visconti parachuted out at a very low altitude and survived his moderate wounds, while Eddy's P-47 came back safely to his Pisa airbase.
On April 29th, 1945, Visconti surrendered to communist partisans near Malpensa airfield, Milan, only after he was assured that none of the air and ground personnel of his unit would be killed in retaliatory attacks. His safety was assured by the mayor of Milan as well, when he was first taken for interrogation. Visconti and the other officers were taken on two buses to the barracks of "Savoy Cavalry" (Savoia Cavalleria) in via Vincenzo Monti. The barracks was then the command of National Republican Guard Intendancy (Intendenza della Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana). There, at 2 p.m., Visconti and Lieutenant (tenente) Valerio Stefanini, his close collaborator, were seemingly taken for a routine interrogation. They were both shot in the back. The Russian was charged with murder but was later discharged because the crime had occurred before May 8th, 1945, the official end of the war in Italy, and was therefore considered an act of war. Visconti and Stefanini were initially hastily buried in the courtyard of the barracks of Savoy Cavalry. In May 1945, a group of fellow aviators and friends, including Giuseppe Robetto, Ugo Diappi, Luigi Botto and Irma Rachelli, arranged for the bodies to be moved to Cimitero Monumentale di Milano. Visconti was 29 years old at the time of his death.

What do Zoos do During Hurricanes?
Everyday climate change poses a larger threat over the Earth, influencing all those who live here. Side effects of this new changing climate we are all facing include increased rains, increased droughts, colder winters, hotter summers, larger forest fires, and worse hurricanes, to name a few. Today I’m going to be writing about the effect hurricanes have on zoos, specifically the Jacksonville Florida Zoo and Gardens.
What precautions do the Jacksonville Zoo’s groundkeepers take to protect the zoological life when a hurricane is coming?
When I first considered this research question I had no idea, to be quite honest. I have always lived in Northwest Ohio and have never personally experienced a hurricane. Up until recently the extent of my knowledge on hurricanes was that when they come they can knock down trees and everyone has to evacuate. That was until I read “The Impact of Climate Change on Hurricane Damages in the United States.”. I learned that hurricanes can have winds of hundreds of miles an hour that can knock over buildings and the storm surges can cause immense flooding that leaves people stranded in their homes. This lead me to question what in the world a zoo would do when faced with this weather hazard.
My first thought process was that they must have to evacuate all the animals. I imagined the zoo team would get big trucks and cages and move the animals to a safer spot, out of the way of the hurricane. In cases like the Animal Research Center in Texas during hurricane Ike, this tactic would have been helpful. Although the Animal Research Center is not a zoo, it does house thousands of animals used in experimentation. In 2008 when hurricane Ike slammed Texas 50% of the animals drowned in the storm surge, because they were housed in the basement of the facility. Staff hurried to the scene, but due to the flooded streets it took too long, and by the time they got there it was too late. However, the other half of the animals were housed above ground, keeping them out of the way of danger. The staff quickly learned their lesson, and made a hurricane ride out team, to prepare them for the rest of Ike’s power. “—over 4,200 boxes of rodents, 50 sheep, and other species—in five of those facilities (totaling approximately 42,500 square feet), where ground floor animal rooms were deemed too low in elevation to withstand flooding, were evacuated to higher elevations.” (Goodwin) This tactic saved thousands of animal lives.
After I learned the Animal Research Center had success moving animals, I did some deeper research as to what the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens would do in a similar situation. I learned that during Hurricane Matthew the zoo had a team of 20 people, veterinarians and animal care experts, that stayed at the zoo during the entire hurricane while others evacuated. The animals are smart, so most of them have enough common sense to go inside their shelters when there is a bad rainstorm. The builders of the zoo are also smart, so shelter houses are on higher ground. This is very helpful for animal protection because the shelter houses are out of the way of the flooding, which saves thousands of animal lives. Other animals, like some birds, have to be caught with a net to be stored inside the shelter due to their unwillingness to go in on their own.
The zoo also has two weeks of food stored up for every animal. They recognize that humans in danger are of higher importance than the zoo, so they prepare to not receive any help immediately after the storm hits. The largest struggle that the zoo actually has to deal with is downed trees that get knocked over by the winds. Zoos are also known for helping one another in times of crisis, so if the aftermath of a hurricane is too rough other zoos will donate food and supplies to those in need.
This is interesting because both the Animal Research Center and the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens evacuate in a way, but not in the way I imagined. They move up away from the flooding, but they do not move away from the facility. I understand this because moving the animals farther than necessary would put the animals under stress that could be avoided. Also, it may be dangerous if some animals managed to escape while being transferred far distances. So, to answer my research question, the precautions taken by zoo staff when they know a hurricane is coming is to close the zoo from visitors, put the animals in elevated shelters away from the flooding, and stock up on food and supplies for while they stay put.
However, as the threat of climate change grows, hurricanes will become more frequent and more intense due to warming seas. Zoos and other animal housing facilities will likely have to adapt their preservation techniques in order to save animal lives during hazards, like reinforcing shelters and making sure they are elevated enough and out of the flooding.
