Tumblr media
Yukichi Fukuzawa:
He finds your ability very useful and will employ you if you already aren't an employee.
He will be as careful as always, not putting himself in harm's way, but if he does get a limb chopped off by accident he will come straight to you.
Your thread is useful for combat and traps, which is something he takes into consideration when planning out his schemes.
You and Yosano often work together.
If you don't want to leave your job, he will understand and not force you out of your work.
Atsushi Nakajima:
This man's limbs grow back like nothing happened, so your ability is useless/j
If he gets hurt during a mission, he would go straight to you to take care of him.
He's way too shy to admit it, but he really likes it when you take care of him as no one ever did, and he was forced to look after himself, it's nice to have a break from worrying about yourself.
Make him a ball of thread to play with (like a cat), and he'll be very happy and entertained for some time.
Doppo Kunikida:
He also thinks your ability is quite useful, and despite how much he does not want you involved in any missions, your threads can be useful.
If you do not work in the ada, Kunikida would often visit you after work, if you aren't busy.
He doesn't really want to visit you when he's injured so as not to worry you and cause you additional work.
If you do end up taking care of him, he will be very pleased and find comfort in your soothing touch.
Osamu Dazai:
He takes your ability to his advantage.
He may become a bit more careless (as if he isn't already) and put himself in harms way more, just to see your worried face and for you to care for him. At least that's what he claims.
He does always love it when you care for him, even if it's putting a plaster on a scratch on his face, which he obtained by "falling."
Katai tayama:
Since he never leaves his house, you can tend to him whenever you need to.
Katai doesn't get injured a lot, so you don't have to worry about him.
Ogai Mori:
Mori, being a doctor himself, obviously does not need any help regarding himself, but it would be useful to have another medic in the mafia.
Your ability can also be useful in combat, so Mori wastes no time trying to convince you to join the mafia. You probably don't have a choice since he's the leader, and it would be quite difficult to be with the leader of a mafia without being a part of it.
A new torture method is now being used in the mafia, cutting somebody's limbs off :)
Ace:
This little prick would put one of his collars around your neck, and you would be his personal doctor, tending to all of his wounds and stuff.
Don't worry, he won't exchange you for gems. You are just too valuable for that.
Arthur Rimbaud:
Maybe you could finally figure out why he's so cold all the time.
If you two are together, you probably work in the mafia, or the other place he's from.
He admires the work you do, human life (or any life really) is important, and you should receive the respect and loyalty it deserves.
Ryƫnosuke Akutagawa:
He could care less about your occupation unless it benefits him, and in this case, it does.
You would often help him with his wounds and coughing, reminding him to eat and drink, etc.
Your threads are quite useful to him, and he could strategize your ability into something.
RyĆ«rƍ Hirotsu:
What a silly old man.
You could be his personal nurse instead of sending him to a nursing home.
Motojiro Kajii:
Tbh, I'm surprised he isn't dead, ik he doesn't get hurt by his bombs but like still
He would always come home with some sort of scratches, which you will place a little lemon themed plaster on.
Also, you call him a mad scientist, and it was probably his idea.
Sakunosuke Oda:
Finally, someone norm- oh wait, he's a skeleton. Ig you'll have to help him not be dead.
You would always have plasters on you with an animal print or something on them, usually for the kids Oda takes care of, but it wouldn't hurt to help someone else out who needs one.
Oda loves what you do and wishes to help you when you come home tired from a long day at the hospital.
The kids Oda takes care of do get sick from time to time, so you will end up getting them to feel better.
Hey, maybe you could stich the kids back together after the little explosion? Pretty please????
Ango Sakaguchi:
He's too tired to realise his arms have fallen off.
He would get sick from the sleepless nights, and you'd demand him to stay home, but he would go to work anyway.
Ango respects your profession greatly and would never dream of getting in the way of your work.
He understands all too well how work can deprive you of everything, so he doesn't really ask you of anything.
Francis Scott Fitzgerald:
You are working in his team of Americans (ew)
/j I just don't think the food in America should be eaten.
Anyways.
You will be the doctor of the group, taking care of anyone who is ill.
He will find your ability useful and will certainly take it to his advantage, money is after all (one of) the most important things in this world and Fitzgerald will get it any means necessary, unless that means hurting you (or himself).
He cares about his family, so he doesn't wish for you to die :)
Nathaniel Hawthrone:
I'm surprised he isn't blaming the devil for everything tbh.
He can use this blood as thread so you can go away now. Your ability is not useful/j
Its great that you want to save people! (Or the children of God, I forgot how religious he is).
He can help by praying for you and your patients. that's it. God is the best doctor, after all.
He doesn't typically cut off his limbs whilst in battle, but if he does, he knows you will always be there to help him if he needs it.
Fyodor Dostoevsky:
Your ability is useful to Fyodor and his gang of rats. You can stich limbs back on, and the nervous system will reattach itself like nothing happened, brilliant!
Fyodor claims he doesn't need a doctor or to be taken care of. In truth, he does, but he fails to admit it, fearing he may appear weak or dependent on other people. His feelings don't stop him from making you the doctor of a bunch of rats.
You may not be a vet, but it doesn't hurt to try!

I'm sorry I couldn't include everyone. It would have taken too long, and u would just be repeating myself, even though I'm already doing so here.
Happy pride month, everyone! So many people have come so far to allow us to be ourselves. It may still be difficult, but that is why we need to celebrate everyone!
I was recently binge watching some shows, so I added some more to the fandoms I write for if anyone is interested. To find the list, go to the masterlist -> the bottom of the post -> press 'Fandoms I write for, rules & regulations♡'
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy pride month!

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AT THE END OF THIS ASK FOR THE NEW CHAPTER IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET
Okay, so like, how far can Dazai’s nullification ability extend? I know it’s through touch, and that for the most part if he touches the ability user/object affected by an ability that can nullify it. Though that’s not always the case (like how he can be affected by Gogol’s warps because there’s technically nothing to touch though I suspect Gogol wouldn’t be able to touch him - or how he has to touch what Kunikida makes not Kunikida himself to nullify his ability and can’t nullify the victims of Q’s curse).
But I’ve seen debate on how his ability affects things through other things. Because I’ve seen people say touching his clothes (which touch him) also nullifies abilities but that he needs to touch people skin to skin (not through their clothes) to nullify those types of abilities. And it mostly doesn’t necessarily seem to work through cloth or whatever else he may be touching (that an ability user may or may not be touching) but then I recall that part of the way they beat Rimbaud in the LN — if I recall correctly — was by having Chuuya wrapped in cloth that Dazai touched in order to nullify the effects of Rimbaud’s ability through it.
So I’m kinda confused.
(Mostly this was brought up by the debates over whether Chuuya’s gravity could affect the elevator Dazai’s in since he can’t really avoid touching it which would nullify if. Though if it doesn’t necessarily transfer through what he touches, I don’t see why Chuuya couldn’t just grab the elevator and control the gravity of his own body to slow it down or stop it.)
To be transparent I had to scrap the first version of this answer because while looking up arguments to say how Dazai's ability does affect objects he directly touches, I found some new things and now the answer to that is a big I don't know, maybe not???
EXHIBIT A
In Fifteen, Dazai touches a long cloth wrapped around Chuuya to nullify Rimbaud's attacks. I thought it was because he was making the cloth immune to abilities like himself, but after discussing it with @videogamelover99, I changed my mind. Remember that part about how being in and out of Rimbaud's subspace is akin to two characters from different novels trying to interact, which is impossible? The new interpretation is that Dazai, being immune to abilities, was outside of Rimbaud's subspace, while everything else was inside that subspace. By grabbing the cloth, he forced it to exit the subspace to join his reality outside the subspace, which made it so Rimbaud's attacks couldn't touch the cloth anymore and couldn't reach Chuuya.
EXHIBIT B
Also in Fifteen, Dazai went out of his way to grab Chuuya's neck when Hirotsu and him first fought Chuuya to nullify his ability (direct contact). Meanwhile, Hirotsu's hand was on his shoulder/chest, and he fully intended to use his ability on Chuuya while Dazai was holding him. It doesn't seem like Dazai touching Chuuya would have protected him from Hirotsu's ability (no transfer).
EXHIBIT C
The new stuff I hadn't noticed! Taking you all the way back to chapters 9-10-11, when Dazai is in the mafia dungeon. So far, Dazai's bandages were consistently drawn going high up on his neck, well above his Adam's apple.
Tumblr media
In the dungeon, Akutagawa uses Rashoumon to attack him and "attempts" to cut his throat
Tumblr media
and afterwards, his bandages come loose, exposing his Adam's apple
Tumblr media
His neck is unharmed, because no ability can touch him, however his BANDAGES, which touch his skin directly, were cut and damaged by Rashoumon. Which would mean that 1. his ability does NOT transfer to his own clothes and 2. touching his clothes does NOT nullify an ability.
EXHIBIT D
I cannot find an instance of Dazai nullifying someone's ability and not either touching them directly (Atsushi's face/neck, Chuuya's neck/arm/face, Ranpo's hair, unnamed blond guy's face...) or touching their ability manifestation (Q's doll, Kunikida's things, Rashoumon...). Steinbeck's situation, I would like to mention, is rather ambiguous in the manga and could easily be skin on skin contact. If you have a counter example (NOT from the anime), please share it!
CONCLUSION
It seems like Dazai's ability works in very simple terms: no ability can touch him. That means if he touches the source of an ability (a person or a manifestation), that ability gets nullified, and no ability can affect him. It only works through direct contact with him (hair/skin) and does not transfer through material/surfaces/people.
So the elevator? Probably fine actually. If he's not affecting the bandages and the new Rimbaud interpretation is right, his ability can't affect random objects, so in theory it wouldn't prevent Chuuya from manipulating its gravity, so long as Dazai isn't touching him directly.
(there's also the very real chance Asagiri changed the lore along the years, but until further notice I'll assume everything still works the same way)

omg maybelle im so sorry to hear that youre going through it
 my liege we love you !!! i am also going through it, i feel you, we can be in these trenches together. may i offer you some assorted chronic pain hcs in the meantime:
atsushi is my chronic pain PRINCESS, especially his leg/knee because he is ALWAYS GETTING HIS LEG CUT OFF /STABBED / ETC WTF !! So i think he has one bad/weak knee (i dont remember which it is in the anime but i like to think its the left 1 bc thats My bad leg) and he sometimes has to wear a knee brace on bad pain days. i feel like everyone in the ada office slowly starts to clock in on when atsushi’s doing bad even just by how he walks in the door, cos even tho he tries to hide it he unconsciously shifts his weight around depending on his pain that day. so i think they do little things for him— bringing his papers to his desk rather than having him get up, trying to only send him on errands to single-story buildings/buildings with elevators and so on. i love the ada family that is always shifting just so how it functions to accommodate for the people within ❀
chuuya is also my chronic pain princess but more full-body
 ive always imagined that the genetic testing and experimentation fucked him UP along with being in a body that wasn’t meant to have an ability. so i think chuuya has all different joints that get achey all the time and hes just learnt to compartmentalize that shooting pain until he gets a chance to sit down in his office for a while. my poor overworked little meow meow. i think he also uses his ability to try to make it better! to take weight off of specific joints when hes walking/moving so that its less painful. and this is just One facet of my literal list of post corruption chuuya hcs do NOT get me started
i also feel similarly about sigma what with the not being a natural human, so i think sigma’s body just. Is Wrong sometimes, like it remembers that it wasn’t really supposed to exist. he’ll crack his neck or his back and then have to do it a couple more times until something clicks back into place. i also think sigma has bad eyesight
 projecting glasses onto him too. in my mind ever member of kunichuusigzai needs glasses to some degree dazai just never wears his because he cant be assed and chuuya only wears his in the office.
other characters i have less developed chronic pain hcs about but like i Know they have it are poe, mushitaro and both of the akutagawas
 ryuu especially though of course like ofc he always has chest pain that branches out to his back and neck and shoulders. of COURSE!!
ANYWAYS OMG IM SO SORRY FOR YAPPING SO MUCH ive just been brewing these thoughts for a while LOL i hope u feel better soon maybelle đŸŒŒđŸŒŒđŸŒŒđŸŒŒ faithfully yours @s2reason-living
THESE ARE SO GOOD!!!! I'm so sorry it took me a while to get to these but they're so good and I love getting love headcanon messages from other people this is beautiful....
I am mentally adopting the Atsushi bad left knee headcanon....it makes so much sense and I love the idea of it being like quietly noticed by others and they help accommodate him 💖 and Chuuya😭😭😭 post corruption Chuuya has incredible potential I loved everything you mentioned and I love the idea of it getting worse over time....my poor sweet prince
Sigmas body being Different makes so much sense too and the bad eyesight HARD AGREE !! He has no idea for a long time until Dazai points out he needs glasses and he's like what??? When we finally gets a pair his life is changed...and don't get me started on chronlc pain Akutagawa AHHHGHH you're so genius from chest pain yes....my poor baby

Akutagawa has never experienced torture outside of the Port Mafia. He only knows the force of Dazai’s fist, the sharp points of his boots, and the edge of the Boss’ scalpel. Ruthlessness is not inheritable; it is beaten into you until your morals shatter into inscrutable shards. No matter how hard you try, they will never fit back together to create anything less than a monster. Even his time as an urchin on the streets cannot compare to the brutality of the mafia.
But for him, his torture was not for information, money, or other valuables. It was training.
He’s never been captured before, never caught and taken away after a failed mission. Thanks to his ability, it’s hard for anyone to keep a hold of him for very long. His ability is made to protect himself; it stops tranquilizing bullets, knives, and knock-out punches. Rashomon can cut through metal and rope alike, releasing any capturing devices thrown at him. There are only two things it cannot do: heal and continue to work even under the effects of a nullifying ability. Akutagawa learned this when he had his first training session with Dazai, and he has been loathe to forget it.
It explains, in any case, how he ended up here, with his wrists chained to the ceiling and his body hanging limply underneath. He and Chuuya were the only ability users sent out on the failed mission to dismantle the European mafia trying to sprout roots in Yokohama. Failed. With someone like Chuuya in the fray, a mission should never fail. At the very least, it shouldn’t end in his or Akutagawa’s capture.
He looks at Chuuya who is tied by several thick bands and a rope around a metal support beam of the damp, poorly-lit room they’re in. Akutagawa remembers with clarity the moment the executive said with a sharp edge in his tone: “I can’t activate my ability.”
It was whiplash after that. Rashomon failed to answer his call, and in a moment’s notice, he felt a pinprick hit a pulsing vein in his neck. A tranquilizing shot, he realizes now, and an advanced version of Dazai’s nullifying ability that permeates the air rather than by touch. He can smell its sewage odor, — a scent that they hadn’t picked up on considering the mafia’s trail led them to a sewer — and it continues to push down Upon the Tainted Sorrow and Rashomon.
It also has the adverse effect of agitating his lungs. He hasn’t had more than an estimated ten-minute break in between coughing fits, and being suspended from his wrists meant that his shoulders were aching from the effort to not pop out of place. Chuuya regards him every now and then with a slightly worried gaze during his more intense attacks, but he says nothing. There is simply nothing to add; there is no escape plan, no way to get out of this empty, concrete room until someone or something comes by.
They don’t have to wait very long. At the front of the room, the large metal door unlocks and opens to reveal a tall, brown-haired man with a respirator mask covering the bottom half of his face. An ability user, then. The only reason to wear a ventilating mask now is he has an ability that can be nullified. His clothes consist of a long, trailing black coat with a velvet-red interior lining. His black pants appear steam-pressed, his polished dress shoes click against the concrete floor, and the visible part of his shirt is deep-blue satin that pulls together the overall look of “filthy rich.”
He strides forward and narrowly side-steps Chuuya’s legs in his path to Akutagawa. In his hands is a ball of white yarn and a thin needle.
No part of his clothes is torn, Akutagawa thinks, confused. They are both uninjured and don’t need any sutures, albeit yarn is a pathetic substitute for stitches. Unless they are being knitted a new torture device, he doesn’t have a single clue what the yarn is for. He coughs in an impressive fit and, being unable to cover it up with his arm or hand, blood splatters on the man, himself, and the pool of lung fluids on the ground between them.
The ability user’s gleaming amber eyes are at the same height as Akutagawa’s are from where he’s suspended. If his feet were on the floor, however, the man would be much taller than him. “Akutagawa Ryuunosuke. Ability: Rashomon. Dog of the Port Mafia.” His voice is slightly distorted and muffled from the mask, but the bite of disgust is still noticeable in his tone. “What ails you?”
Akutagawa does not respond. The man narrows his eyes, patience slowly draining from them. “It will be wise for you to answer. You are bleeding all over our ground and making loud noises prematurely. We want to do everything in our power to prevent that from happening—” He raises the ball of yarn to block their eye contact “— without having to use this.”
It suddenly becomes very clear what the yarn will be used for. Even he cannot repress the shock on his face as he looks to Chuuya for permission to speak. The executive stares back at him with his pupils drawn into slits and does not give him an affirmative answer either way. He’s leaving the decision up to Akutagawa. Luckily, it isn’t a hard choice.
He doesn’t talk about his lung disease to people. Not because he’s ashamed of it, since there is nothing to be ashamed of, but because they can use it against him. If they know, and he manages to anger them or their organization, they will set traps specifically designed to enflame his lungs and incapacitate him. He learned this in his second training session with Dazai.
“I have an incurable lung disease,” he croaks, his throat torn and hurt from his constant coughing. “This nullifying ability is agitating them.”
The man exhales deeply through the mask. “That is rather unfortunate. I will still have to close your mouth, then. Try not to cough during this procedure. It will be quite painful.” Despite the rest of his butler-esc outfit, he does not wear gloves. His hands are cold and calloused on Akutagawa’s face when he drives a thumb harshly into his submental and the other fingers press down on his nose. It holds his mouth closed painfully together, and even the attempt to jerk his useless to dislodge his hold. “Do not move. This needle is sharp, and I have been permitted to poke your eyes if need be. There will be minimal blood.”
It occurs to Akutagawa, then, that his hands are tied above his head and his abs have weakened enough to the point where he can’t quite kick out properly, either. He is completely at this man’s mercy. A needle in his eye will hurt infinitely worse than stitching his lips closed, and the damage will be permanent in comparison to the yarn that can be removed.
He stills, and from his peripheral he sees Chuuya’s lips press together a fraction tighter before speaking. “Who the hell even are you?”
“Nakahara Chuuya. Ability: Upon the Tainted Sorrow. Executive of the Port Mafia,” the man says. “I am Wilhelm Grimm.”
Wilhelm leans in close and pokes the needle through the corner of his upper lip. It doesn’t hurt as much as Akutagawa thought it would — the painful part is the yarn slipping through the hole, and the needle scraping at his gums. He’s bleeding more than he was before already, making him wonder how much the “we want to do everything in our power to prevent that from happening” is really worth. Perhaps this isn’t premature, but before was. Akutagawa doesn’t know, and he supposes it doesn’t matter.
“What do you want with us, huh, Grimm? If it's got anything to do with torture, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it will not work,” Chuuya comments. “We are Port Mafia. We will die with our secrets.”
Wilhelm shakes his head, though his hand remains entirely steady as tugs the needle through his bottom lip. The yarn yanks his lips together in a manner so painful Akutagawa finds it hard not to flinch back. “I desire nothing from you,” he replies monotonously. Chuuya scoffs.
“Obviously not you as an individual, dumbass.” As much as Akutagawa looks up to Chuuya, he can’t help but feel ire spike through his veins. The yarn passes through his lips and tugs at the bottom once more. Wilhelm holds the needle that can effectively cut Akutagawa’s throat and stab out his eyes. Anger is not the emotion they need to be evoking. “I mean your organization. What do they want?”
“You’re bait for the Armed Detective Agency,” he answers just the same as before, like hiding the truth is not necessary for him. His complete honesty is concerning. “Once they come to rescue you, we will eliminate them, and our wolves will eat your bodies. They are quite hungry; they have not been fed in a while, and it's been weeks since they last had live prey.”
The Armed Detective Agency has no stakes in this battle. Clearing out an encroaching mafia is specifically the Port Mafia’s arrangement; the ADA is not meant to be involved in any capacity. It’s rather foolish of this European mafia to believe that they would come crawling to save two criminals.
Chuuya scoffs, clearly coming to the same conclusion Akutagawa had. “The Port Mafia is the one you should be afraid of. They will come in, guns blazing, and take down all of you idiots before a day has passed.”
Wilheim offers the next bout of information as he has before. “The Black Lizard of the Port Mafia was reduced to half its original size an hour ago. The rest made a tactical retreat back to their headquarters. The Armed Detective Agency will raid this base in approximately three hours.”
The only sounds in that room for a full minute are the filtering of the respirator mask and the yarn pulling Akutagawa’s lips together. Akutagawa doesn’t know what to make of that information. There had been little to no knowledge of the European mafia, to begin with, other than that they had considerably strong ability users in their ranks if they were able to keep strong anonymity in Europe and still control major imports and exports of illegal goods. Not only that, they were able to make it to Japan entirely unnoticed by the government and the Special Division for Unusual Powers.
Akutagawa has the overwhelming need to cough, but he manages to bite it down. The hand bearing down on his jaw and nose remains as strong as ever.
“How can you be so sure?” Chuuya says, only slightly weaker than he had been before. His expression is schooled into one of unconcerned disinterest.
“Dazai Osamu. Ability: No Longer Human. Member of the Armed Detective Agency,” he says. Akutagawa feels his heart stop in his chest, and he lurches back as the needle scrapes his bottom gum deeply. It pulls the yarn and the needle hits both his tongue and his bottom lip, nearly poking an extra hole. His mouth screams, and he can’t prevent the groan from the back of his throat. He swallows down the blood overfilling his mouth in an attempt to keep the blood from spilling out over Wilhelm’s hand and to calm his agitated lungs. “He will be the one to learn of your whereabouts and bring the Armed Detective Agency to us.”
He barely registers the pain this time. The yarn is only halfway through, and his lips are a red mess he can acutely feel but not comprehend. Chuuya’s voice floats in his ear as a distant melody. “You can’t be serious. He’s the Port Mafia’s youngest executive. He’ll never fall for that trap.”
“He’ll know it's a trap, but he will come anyway. Your lives are on the line.” The yarn progresses past halfway, and the pain returns to Akutagawa all at once. His body quivers as he holds back another coughing, swallowing the blood building up his throat. He can’t keep this up forever.
He has the sudden, terrible feeling he is going to die. The thought was, at one point, not so unsettling. But a death like this is certainly not Dazai-approved; he is a captive used as bait, eaten alive by dogs, or much sooner, choked on his own blood. Then he considers it — it’s yarn. If he opens his mouth, it’ll tear through his lips. It’ll hurt like all Hell, but it would be nothing compared to the cargo ship explosion, where he was unconscious for days until he could be slowly healed via an ability.
Chuuya does not argue with him. He is so stupid as to say Dazai will not come for them when the Port Mafia is incapable. It’s exactly what he will do, and he will do it excellently. Everything that man has done is nothing short of calculated perfection. The wolves will never reach them, no matter what this man thinks.
Even if they did manage to catch the most powerful ability user in Yokohama in ten minutes flat. The nullifying ability agitates his throat and he clears his throat in an attempt to keep the cough down. Wilhelm does not spare him a glance, completely focused on the work in front of him.
“What’s your ability?” Chuuya asks after a beat of silence. Akutagawa knows what he’s doing: gaining as much information as possible to give to their allies or use against the organization later. To exploit any weaknesses they may have. “And who is behind this air ability?”
“My ability is Rumplestiltskin. I can strengthen textile to that of the strongest and densest metal,” he explains, now a third of the way through Akutagawa’s mouth. It’s getting difficult to breathe, and anxiety travels up his arms and down his legs. “The ability in effect now is Little Snow White. Ability user: Jacob Grimm, my brother.”
Wilhelm doesn’t give up rank this time, Akutagawa notes dully. He’s really struggling to breathe now, his lungs aching and diaphragm restricting painfully. He won’t have much time to rip them out if he wants to stay awake or even live.
Three hours was Wilhelm’s prediction. Akutagawa wouldn’t make it one.
Silence stretches between them as Chuuya has no more questions left to ask. There are no threats to make or promises to follow through on. They have to wait for the Armed Detective Agency to come save their asses.
Wilhelm ties the end of the yarn together, and Akutagawa’s blood is already seeping out of his lips. There’s too much in his mouth, and he can’t swallow it all down. Wilhelm sighs, the air pushing out heavily from his respirator mask. “It will do. You will cough no longer.”
Then the yarn pulls his lips together with a clench, and Akutagawa knows he won’t be able to rip his lips open. They are too tight – his jaw does not move when he tries, and he does. His skin stretches and pulls and it's the most nauseating pain of his entire life. Nothing compared to that when blood spills from his lips and down his throat.
It clogs, and Akutagawa knows he will die.
Wilhelm leaves and the moment the door closes, Chuuya thrashes against his bonds. “Akutagawa? You need to hold it in. Dazai will not take three hours. You know him as well I do; he will have predicted that they will do this.”
Even if he wanted to Akutagawa cannot speak. His chest burns, and he convulses with the need to cough.
But he can’t. His blood comes up his lungs and chokes him. It comes out of his nose, which is the only place oxygen can get in. Blood blocks his airways and he can’t cough any of it out , so it’s greedily taking in all of the oxygen that would be going to his heart. His heart races in utter panic, and he thinks a heart attack might kill him faster.
He makes gurgling noises that resemble a demented sort of zombie. “Akutagawa! Come on! You have to stay alive!”
His vision is already fading and blurry with tears. He tries to respond, he really does, but the yarn holds as hard as solid diamond. It hurts. It's unbelievably painful as the only blood that leaves his throat is from the slow drizzle of his stitched lips. “Don’t you dare die! I can’t lose another friend!”
Akutagawa does not breathe.
There is so little blood and oxygen going to his head that he does not think in the last second of consciousness. His head hangs, and the last thing he hears is the panicked scream of his name and the distant popping sound of firearms.
—
It takes Akutagawa three minutes to die of asphyxiation. It takes ten minutes for his brain to cease activity.
In this period, two things happen:
One: Three hours before intended, the Armed Detective Agency arrives at the base location. Dazai Osamu greets a high-ranking European mafioso at the door.
Two: Akutagawa breathes.
He tries to gasp but his skin tears and pulls against the yarn, and he nearly passes out again. If it weren’t for the fact that his wrists were freed from the hanging chains, making him collapse on top of his lung fluid on the ground, he would have blacked out. Arms wrap around his shoulders and pull him into a standing position. He meets the weretiger’s concerned multicolored eyes.
“We won’t let you die,” Atsushi promises, one hand lightly grazing the yarn keeping his mouth sewn closed. “I don’t know if the tiger can cut through this. You’ll have to wait for Dazai.” His fingertips come away with Akutagawaïżœïżœïżœs blood dripping off of them.
Akutagawa doesn’t spare him a nod, instead doubling over as he tries to cough. His mouth fills once more and he painstakingly swallows it back down his throat. “I can revive you as many times as you need,” Yosano informs from where she releases Chuuya from his bonds, “but I can’t heal your disease.”
They are the only Agency members down there with them. From the faint sounds he can pick up, it sounds like the fight is still continuing up the stairs. He begins to move in the direction of the door, but both Chuuya and Atsushi pounce on him in a flash.
“No. You are in no condition to be fighting,” Chuuya snarls at him, though the anger in his tone isn’t directed at Akutagawa. The weretiger holds his arm tight enough to leave a bruise. Now that the Little Snow White ability has dissipated, he considers letting Rashomon slice off those hands. “Being in the fray is just going to make you die again faster, and we don’t know if that Grimm brother is out of the picture or not. He could still reactivate his ability, making you dead for good.”
The executive doesn’t stay along to argue further on the topic, leaving Akutagawa alone with the two Armed Detective Agency members. When he feels another fit coming on, he summons Rashomon in a vain attempt to cut off the yarn, but it holds fast to his lips. Hard as solid diamond.
He sends a snapping jaw Atsushi’s way, just to hear him yell indignantly: “Can you stop that? We just saved your life! You should be grateful!”
Akutagawa doesn’t miss the fleeting smile on Yosano’s face.
Since the ability is no longer agitating his lungs, Akutagawa doesn’t worry about dying again. The last urge he felt was small and insignificant, and he doesn’t feel one again until the door swings open. Two men walk through, and Dazai narrowly avoids the kick Chuuya deals to his stomach. Akutagawa’s heart stops in his chest when he makes eye contact with his former mentor.
He sees Atsushi reposition himself to be at Akutagawa’s side. A slight node of irritation passes through him, but he lets it go by in favor of behaving for Dazai. The man stops in front of him, reaches out with a blank expression, and taps his pointer finger on the yarn. It softens into near mush from the amount of blood that it has soaked up, and Atsushi wastes no time in using the tiger to slice the yarn open.
Akutagawa takes one breath and keels over, his body wracking with coughs he hadn’t been feeling before. All of the blood he swallowed comes back up, and he thinks his body is making up for when he died earlier, unable to expel the blood then, either. It's the worst attack he’s had in years.
A hand rubs circles on his back. He thinks it’s Atsushi since he’s right there and would be just the type of person to extend a kind gesture to the very person who’s supposed to be his enemy. But when he lifts his head, he sees that Atsushi has joined Yosano, and Chuuya stands alone.
That means Dazai is comforting him.
When he finally gets rid of the last bit of pent-up liquid in his lungs, he turns to face his former mentor. He expects to see a look of displeasure. He does not anticipate the twitching of his lips that tries to hide the downward set of his frown or the furrowed eyebrows that display his concern. Dazai pulls Akutagawa into his chest and rests his chin on top of the mafioso’s head.
He doesn’t say anything, but the steady beat of his heart and the tight hold he has on Akutagawa speak loud enough. Akutagawa does not return the hug, but he does bury his face as deep as he can into his former mentor’s coat. His blood joins the other stains on Dazai’s clothes from the fight. He bites back the sting of his eyes and breathes as slowly as he possibly can.
It’s okay, Akutagawa thinks. I’m okay.
He’s alive, and Dazai holds him with more affection than Akutagawa has known his whole life. I’m okay.

I'll Find You

You shouldn’t have left the hideout that night, you’d been on your way home when your phone started ringing “Hello?” You asked. “(Y/N) where are you?” Chuya asked. “On my way home.” You answered “are you on your way back or something?” “No, I have to go and see Ango and save Dazai.” He said. “What? Why?” You asked. “There’s something coming your way, you have to be careful, your ability will become your enemy.” He explained. “Alright but you have to be careful too. Ango should not be trusted. I’ll find you after everything settles down.” You warned him, there was shuffling on the other side of the phone before it cut out, you frowned as you pulled your phone away from your ear, it had no signal, you looked up at the sky, the fog surrounding you catching your attention, you slowly turned your bike making your way back the way you came, you should probably find Mori if something was going to try and kill all of you.
You moved through the streets eventually having to abandon your bike due to all of the cars in the road, you could hear the sound of fighting and moved towards it seeing that it was Akatagawa, Atsushi and Kyoka. You moved quickly, the tiger had it’s back to you and you should see the jewel glowing on the nape of it’s neck, you weren’t sure what it was but if it wasn’t a way to get rid of them it was definitely a weak spot, your knife landed right on target, the tiger disappeared immediately, the other two abilities noticed you now and turned towards you, you could see the jewel inside of Rashomon and Demon Snow’s gem was on her forehead. You dodged the attacks aimed at you. “I can take care of this myself!” Akatagawa yelled. “I know you can
” You rolled your eyes as you slid under another attack before taking out a bomb and throwing it in a reforming Rashomon, detonating it as you jumped at Demon Snow using her katana as a platform and slashing at her gem. “Akatagawa find the others, I’ll find the boss.” Before he could give you a snarky comment your ability appeared behind them. “Run!” You dodged out of the way of a hit from your ability, you knew that there was no way to hurt your ability from the outside unless there was some kind of extreme force, you grabbed 2 bombs throwing them at your ability and detonating them breathing a sigh of relief when it disappeared from sight.
You back tracked in attempts to find your boss but instead ran into Kunikida who looked like he was looking for someone too “you look lost.” you commented. “I’m looking for Atsushi and Kyoka.” He answered, barely looking at her. “They went that way.” You pointed behind you in the direction that you told them to run in. “Why would you tell me that, is this some kind of a trap?” He asked. “Why would I bother with that now?” You asked rolling your eyes as you attempted to walk away from him, you could hear him following behind him, you were about to ask him why he was following you but instead were interrupted by a dragon appearing in the sky, you looked at it there was something else, something you recognised “Chuya.” “What is that?” Kunikida asked. “One of them is Chuya but the other one I don’t know.” You answered, running towards the fight hoping to get a better look. You unfortunately didn’t see too much of it before running into Akutagawa, Atsushi and Kyoka “I told you their fine.” You pointed to the two kids, he rushed over them as you went over to Akutagawa. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine.” He answered. “Good, I need you to find Chuya while I find the boss.” You explained. “Yeah, yeah.” He waved you off before disappearing, you glanced over to make sure that the others were okay “Hey! Make sure you find Dazai, make sure he’s okay!” You ordered before running off yourself.
The first people that you came across were Dazai and Chuya. Chuya had his head on Dazai’s lap and you looked at them for a second before letting out a light laugh “well if I didn’t know you I’d think you were dating.” You teased as you walked around them to stand in front of you, Chuya reached out for you as he groaned at your comment. “I would never date him.” Chuya mumbled as you crouched in front of them. “Are you guys okay?” You asked. “We’re fine.” Dazai answered, finally throwing Chuya off of his lap and into your chest “you shouldn’t flirt with me Chuya you have a girlfriend.” “Yeah and she’s way better than you, prettier too.” Chuya mumbled, he had landed face first into your shoulder so his just twisted his head to bury his face into your neck. “You should get him out of here before someone finds us.” Dazai suggested and you nodded. “Are you okay?” You asked, noticing the blood on his suit. “I’m fine, how is everyone else?” He asked. “Everyone I saw is still alive, so Atsushi, Kunikida and Kyoka are fine.” You listed as you shifted Chuya to help him stand “they’re back that way.” You pointed in the direction that you had left them before turning and helping Chuya away. “Thank you for helping them.” Dazai said and you looked at him and shrugged. “They’re worth something to you are they not?” You asked as you turned away from him “until next time.” “There won’t be one if I can help it.” Chuya mumbled, you gave a soft laugh. “Come on, let's go home.” You mumbled softly. “Only with you.” Chuya attempted to walk with you as he talked but really it was just you directing his exhausted body back home.

F!Bsd anime watcher in the bsd world
 pt 4/?
“𝐁𝐼𝐭
 𝐖𝐡𝐹 𝐱𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞..”
Summary of the last chapter: Victoria guessed past occupation and Atsushi and Victoria got their first job. Atsushi first sees Ryunosuke’s appearance in a photo. Dazai laughed at Victoria’s ‘he has no eyebrows’ comment.
No one’s pov
Dazai’s singing on the couch in the agency with his headphone on.
“I’m waiting for a revelation.” Dazai says while smiling.
Victoria pov
Meanwhile Tanizaki, Naomi, Atsushi and me are following Higuchi, Atsushi’s doubting his abilities, if he’s cut out for this job. Tanizaki comforts Atsushi, then they’ve talked until Naomi starts doing weird things again, I only listen and follow Higuchi silently, thinking that Ryu’s gonna make Atsushi confident soon enough.
“We’re here.” Higuchi says, and we follow her into the dark alleyway.
“Is this really the right place?” Tanizaki asks, as we turn around to look at Higuchi.
“Um
”
“The name’s Higuchi.”
“Higuchi-san. Smugglers are a cowardly bunch. They’ll always have an escape route. But this is a dead end. If anyone came after them from there, they’d have nowhere to run.”
“That’s correct.” Higuchi drops her bag and unbuttons her shirt’s top two buttons as she continues. “I apologise. I led you into a trap.” She puts her glasses on, “My real target was you.” then takes out her walkie talkie.
“Akutagawa senpai.” Higuchi talks to the other side of the walkie talkie, which is Ryunosuke.
“Akutagawa?!” Tanizaki and Atsushi’s eyes widen and they say in a shocked tone at the same time, as I also mumble in a fake shocked tone, “Akutagawa..”.
“I have them, as planned.” Higuchi ignores our shocked expressions and continues speaking to the other.
“She’s
with the Port Mafia!” Gunshots are heard.

No one’s pov
In the agency, Dazai’s eyes widen while listening to his headphone and holding his suicide book to his chest.

Gunshots were heard. Naomi was shot. As Tanizaki tries to ask Atsushi to take Naomi out of this situation, Higuchi points the gun right at Tanizaki’s head, about to shoot him knowing that Tanizaki’s a non-combatant member. Tanizaki gets mad and activates his ability, light snow.
Victoria pov
I’m behind Atsushi, not comforting him cause not wanting to change any history, looking around at the green ‘snow’ as Tanizaki explains his ability, I quietly and slowly move to behind Atsushi since she did not shoot Atsushi in the cannon plot.
No one’s pov
Higuchi starts shooting all around her, she missed. Tanizaki grabs Higuchi’s neck from behind and he becomes visible as he holds her neck.
“Die!”
Rashoumon attacks Tanizaki from behind, Tanizaki falls down on the ground, the attacker coughs. “Fear death.”(bro’s trying so hard to make people fear him like people fear his mentor aka some suicidal maniac) “Fear slaughter.” Inserting Atsushi’s fish eyes scene. “Those who desire death have an equal desire to die.”(describing his mentor again) “Therefore
 It’s nice to meet you. I’m Akutagawa, one of the Port Mafia’s dogs, as is she.” Ryu coughs again. (I hc Mori named every pm members as dogs, the animal that Dazai hated)
“Akutagawa-senpai!” Higuchi gets up. “I can handle this myself—” The port mafia mad dog slaps across the blonde’s face. “I believe my orders were to take the weretiger alive! And yet here you are, gunning everyone down. You useless bitch! Stand down.” Ryunosuke scolds the blonde, “I’m sorry.” she apologises.
Victoria pov
Ok the slapping scene’s actually amusing, why am I so weird
 But it definitely hurt, it was pretty loud. Back to the topic, in order not to affect their relationship in the future, ima shut up.
Atsushi pov
“Take the weretiger alive?” I ask, still in the floor progressing things. “What are you after?” I continue asking the questions that have been in my head since they mentioned I was being targeted by the dangerous organisation, Port Mafia. What do they want from the tiger?

“My target has always been you, and you alone, weretiger.” I hear the response
by Akutagawa that dangerous man even Kunikida san fears. “Your fellow agents lying there just got caught in the crossfire.”
I gasp, “This is because of me?”
“Indeed. That is your karma, weretiger. You cause misfortune for everyone around you, just by living.” I gasp again listening to his words.
My past memories came in my mind. “My
karma?” I stare at the ground, mumbling.
I could hear the mafioso. “Ability: Rashoumon.” I gasp as I see his
transformation
? I’m not sure— I look down and cover my face, I look at the side where he attacked, it
 was destroyed destructively

“I missed that on purpose that time, of course. But my Rashoumon has poor taste.(it’s hot though) It devours anything and EVRYTHING. I intend to capture you alive but if you continue to resist, I’ll take your leg next.”
“Why
” I look down at my shaky legs “Why
 Why me?” Today, I have joined the Armed Detective Agency
 Is this my fault, too
? Do I make everyone around me suffer just by living?
“A
 Atsushi kun.” I hear Tanizaki and look at him. “Run, Atsushi kun.” T-They’re still alive.
Victoria pov
As I watch Atsushi struggle and thinking the worst, he finally gets up, runs towards to the gun behind Ryunosuke and grabs it and starts shooting Ryunosuke’s back, which did not work at all and Ryu the emo starts explaining about his ability, the hot Rashoumon again, I almost yawned, man.
Ryu cuts off Sushi’s leg, his eyes widen in shock and screams in pain, Ryu just coughs,(Covid man) the blood is all over the ground.
Probably after thinking about some memories related to crying stuff? I think, I remember it’s something like that. He transforms into a tiger, bro lost control over bad memories. Also! It’s amusing to watch, sadly I don’t have popcorn with me though. And- ah. No it’s fine, I’m too invisible and I’m not even the main topic, Tanizaki shouldn’t have paid attention to me and Atsushi 100% didn’t since I wasn’t one of the ones that got injured and I’m a child, Higuchi’s attention has been to Tanizaki, Atsushi and his emo senpai, Ryunosuke’s too focus on catching the target and abusing his subordinate(Higuchi). About Dazai who’ll come later on
 it’ll be fine, everything’s be fine, for now still.
Damnnnnn! Shin Soukoku’s first fight! First meet! It’s so amazing- and again so interesting to watch! My eyes are sparkling with sparkles in an admired way. Oh? Higuchi starts shooting at Atsushi cause of his senpai, well she simps Ryu but uh, does too much! Just Ryu in the past he never listens to Dark era Daz 100% too— Rashoumon stabs through the tiger’s middle? Waist? Idk about tigers’ body parts.
As the fight continues, a familiar voice can be heard and be seen.
“Okay, that’s enough!” [No longer human activated] Can this man teleport??????? I probably was just too focus, sigh, whatever

I look at Dazai, who used his ability on his old subordinate and the new one. After Dazai explaining why he’s here, he sits down in front of Atsushi and pats his head, telling him to wake up because he doesn’t want to carry all the people back at the same time.
No one’s pov
“The Port Mafia will claim that seven billion.”(I skipped some unnecessary sentences.)
“Is that a declaration of war on the Armed Detective Agency?” The brunette stands up and asks. “Try it
if you dare.”
“You’re a small-scale operation, whereas we are this city’s darkness made incarnate. We have connections in this city’s politics and economy at every level. An agency with a dozen or so operatives will become ashes along with your office in three days’ time. No one has opposed us and lived.” The blonde frowns and threatens the detective.
“I know all that.” The detective replies.
“Indeed.” The mad dog speaks. “You know that better than anyone as an ex-Port Mafia member. Dazai san.” Dazia smiles back confidently.
Victoria pov
As the silence continues, I stand up slowly and stretches. “Man are you guys done? You either stop the staring contest or I simply go back to the agency on my own Dazai san.” My legs have gone numb from not moving an inch the entire time!” I say as I slowly walk and stand next to Dazai.
The brunette turns to me, “Oh my Vicky chan! I’m glad to see you healthy well! Mostly because of you’re not injured so that you can help me take how of these unconscious people back to the agency!~ Thank you~”
Higuchi eyes widen, “I forgot about her being here
”
Ryunsouke pov
I frown and mumble, “She heard about Dazai san’s past
” I shouldn’t doubt and worry about Dazai san, he’s not someone to be underestimated after-all, he’s the most powerful. I’m sure he’ll handle it. I frown further, 𝐛𝐼𝐭

Summary of the BSD Stage Dead Apple Synopsis
Tumblr media
Under the cut for Spoilers!
â–ŒBeginning
The play starts with Atsushi looking for Dazai (as tasked by Kunikida to attend the ADA mtg) Differing from the movie, he doesn't find him.
Atsushi meets Shibusawa on the street instead when Shibusawa saved an elderly crossing the street, making him think that Shibusawa is a kind person.
Atsushi thinks that they have met somewhere before but can't remember it exactly.
Kyouka then meets Atsushi about the Ability Users Suicide Case.
â–ŒAkutagawa pursues Shibusawa
Chuuya and Akutagawa are talking on the phone. Akutagawa is tasked to pursue Shibusawa as the perpetrator of the Dragon Head Conflict.
However, Akutagawa was physically attacked by Dazai from behind - he snapped Aku’s neck, then stepped on him - causing him to lose consciousness (though he recognizes Dazai before passing out).
Dazai then comes with Shibusawa.
â–ŒChuuya and Akutagawa scene
The day when Dazai took Akutagawa to the Port Mafia is shown. Akutagawa wakes up from the dream and remembers Dazai attacked him.
An Ability user suddenly comes out of nowhere. Akutagawa fights him and realizes that he can't use Rashomon.
Chuuya comes to save him. Apparently, it's an Ability that got separated from its user.
Chuuya then explains Shibusawa's Ability and says that the mist engulfing Yokohama is actually the breath of a dragon.
Akutagawa then asks why Chuuya's Ability doesn't separate from him.
Chuuya answers that his Ability is quite special and isn't something small that can be taken easily by this fog. And if his Ability happens to separate from him, it will be the end of Yokohama.
Chuuya gives Akutagawa a new mission - to kill Dazai, because he's the one who took Shibusawa to Yokohama.
Akutagawa laughs, saying that he doesn't believe that because the Dazai now wants peace in Yokohama.
Chuuya laughs at him. He says that he's known Dazai for 7 years and were once partners so he knows Dazai - he knows that no one can tell what Dazai is thinking. There's a monster inside Dazai that no one can understand.
Aku claims that he can understand Dazai so Chuuya asks him why Dazai left the Mafia, but Aku couldn't answer. Chuuya says that he doesn't care if Aku looks up to Dazai but as for him, he's never looked up to Dazai even once. He then tells him to his face that Aku going all "Dazai-san, Dazai-san" and accepting everything he says - is probably the reason why Dazai doesn't approve of him.
Aku gets mad and attacks him to no avail. Chuuya taunts him further saying that if he doesn't do something about this mist, he'll remain weak.
Rashomon appears in the background. Chuuya says that Rashomon is just looking at him and not attacking him as if putting Aku to a test.
Chuuya says that without his Ability, Aku can never land a single punch at him.
Aku accepts the mission and says that he will beat Chuuya right after.

â–ŒWhite Trio at Mukurotoride
Dazai walks to the center. There's a voice-over of Oda when he told Dazai that the good or bad side doesn't make much difference to him.
Shibusawa arrives.
Dazai says he's happy working with him.
Fyodor arrives saying that Shibusawa shouldn't believe Dazai. (Fyodor does a mini violin performance, talk about grand entrance lol)
It seems that Dazai didn't know beforehand that Fyodor is part of the plan.
Fyodor says that he's just a rat on the side that will help a bit.
Dazai realizes that Fyodor's role is to keep him in check.
Shibusawa says that he can actually accomplish all his plans on his own without them, but it would be boring.
Dazai agrees that it indeed wouldn't be boring because no one knows who will betray who.
Tumblr media
â–ŒAtsushi, Aku, Kyouka in the Mafia passage
Atsushi argues with Aku on the way, saying things that it's his fault that Kyouka suffered in the Mafia. He told them that he should never come close to Kyouka ever and talk as if he knows her.
Aku then retorts back asking Atsushi what he actually knows about Kyouka.
Atsushi says that he knows a lot stating things like Kyouka likes tofu and bunnies, and hates lightning.
Aku asks him about her past but Atsushi wasn't able to answer. Aku narrates that Kyouka's parents were killed by Demon Snow and she was picked up by the Mafia, and was then trained by a Port Mafia Executive known as the best Assassin in the world (in reference to Verlaine).
Aku then adds that he also knows that Kyouka hates flies and dogs, and likes ghosts and hydrangeas. He knows more about Kyouka so it's his win.
Unable to come up with other things about Kyouka, Atsushi resorts to bickering.
Atsushi: You're a sore loser!
Aku: Orphanage castaway!
Sushi, visibly hurt from Aku's comeback: You don't change clothes!
Aku, visibly hurt from Sushi's comeback:  I wash it every time!
Sushi: Huh? Do you also wear that when sleeping?
Aku: I'm gonna kill you!
They were then stopped by Kyouka.
Before they go out of the passageway, Kyouka attempts to check if her phone can connect somewhere.
Aku gently stops her telling her that that phone is the one used to control her Ability and would be bad if it connects.
Kyouka says that there's nothing to worry about because there's no signal.
Kyouka asks him if Aku tried the Mafia's communication device and Aku says that it can't connect too.
(Note: When Aku talks to Kyouka his voice is calm and softer than usual)
Atsushi, feeling out of place, silently watches them from the side. "You two, you actually get along well, huh..."
Tumblr media
â–ŒDemon Snow Battle
The trio go back outside the streets and comes to face Demon Snow. They ran back to the Mafia passageway but Demon Snow just follows them and slices the door. Byakko then also appears.
Kyouka's phone rings. When she answers it, the scene flashbacks to the time when her parents died (same scene with the manga) with her mom explaining what truly happened, and then advises Kyouka how to control Demon Snow.
They were able to beat Demon Snow after and the Ability goes back to Kyouka.
â–ŒMore Aku, Atsushi, and Kyouka
Aku, Atsushi, and Kyouka continue to walk in the mist-covered street. Atsushi suggests to Kyouka that they should hold hands so they don't get separated. Kyouka agreed and held out her hand, but then asked Atsushi about Aku.
Sushi: Eh?
Kyouka:
Sushi: Eh?
Kyouka: Should I hold his hand?
Sushi: No way!
Kyouka: Then you should hold his hand
Sushi: Ehhhh, t-there's no way I would... i-it's Akutagawa...
Kyouka:
Sushi: Aahh, there are no other hands in here so fine!
Atsushi settles to offer the dangling part of his belt for Aku to hold on to (lol he's pointing his ass in the process because the belt is on his back like a tail). Aku reaches for it, but was taken away by Rashomon before Atsushi and Kyouka can see him
â–ŒAku vs Rashomon Battle
Aku uses his gun to fight against Rashomon. Just when he thought he won, he is then caught and pierced by Rashomon. At first Aku thought that Rashomon is fighting him to test if he's worth it as Rashomon's "owner", but then realized that Rashomon is actually filled with wrath - Aku's wrath towards his weak self.
Scenes flashback to Chuuya telling Aku why Dazai doesn't approve of him, of Atsushi telling him that he lost against him and is still not recognized by Dazai, and of Dazai telling him that his new subordinate is better and he doesn't need Aku.
Aku makes Rashomon remember all these, of what they went through, of what they are mad about, of what they both desire. If Aku doesn't beat Rashomon then he will be a part of Shibusawa's collection and will never get what they desire.
Before Rashomon ends Aku, he sets the bomb off and beats him eventually.
Aku returns to Atsushi and Kyouka thereafter, and Atsushi was surprised to see him covered in bruises.
â–ŒWhite Trio Betrayal Scene
Fyodor sees Dazai suspiciously trying to enter the Draconia room. They went inside after Fyodor tells him that Shibusawa is not there. Dazai reveals his motives to Fyodor, and Fyodor hands him the crystals. Before Dazai can touch them Shibusawa stabs him from behind. Dazai dies. (scenes are almost the same as the movie)
After Dazai dies, Shibusawa also kills Fyodor, grabbing him on the top of his head, lifting him up, and then breaking his neck.
Shibusawa laughs (like a villain) saying that his plans succeeded.
â–ŒMore Aku, Atsushi, and Kyouka
Aku, Atsushi, and Kyouka are riding an elevator, standing side by side. Because the ride is taking quite long, Atsushi tries to make small talk to relieve the awkward atmosphere.
Sushi: Your Ability has returned to you, right? How does it feel?
Aku: None of your business.
*silence*
Sushi: Looking from this angle, your nose looks nice. (literally "you have a high-bridged nose" used as a compliment in Jp)
*silence*
Sushi: Aahh, with this three the talk is going nowhere..
Kyouka: *tries to narrate Momotaro (a popular Jp folklore)*
Sushi: Ah, I'm sorry Kyouka-chan, I didn't mean to force you
â–ŒChuuya at the Special Ability Dept
Chuuya arrives at the Special Ability Department Office. He is stopped by the guards but Chuuya beats them all (fight scenes were shown).
Chuuya arrives at the main office, but Ango is only showing up in the scene via a video screen. Tsujimura is in the office btw.
Chuuya and Ango talk about the government's involvement with Shibusawa (same with the movie).
Chuuya threatens Ango that he will kill the people in the office if Ango doesn't tell him about the case of Shibusawa now.
â–ŒWhite Trio
Shibusawa takes Dazai's Ability crystal, but realizes that it is not the one he's been looking for.
Fyodor suddenly appears from his back, shooting Shibusawa with a gun.
Apparently, the one Shibusawa killed earlier was not Fyodor himself, but his separated Ability.
Fyodor then kills Shibusawa with a knife, making him remember his death (same with the movie).
â–ŒDragon Appears
Fyodor does his poetry speech about the dragon lol
The dragon appears as animation in the background.
Deadly Drive plays as bg music after!
Ango asks Chuuya to fight the dragon, believing that only his Ability can do it just as when they fought Guivre in the past.
Chuuya complains that the government just always does nothing but order people around while not getting their hands dirty.
He accepts the mission and asks Ango's life in return.
â–ŒChuuya vs Dragon
Plane scene with Tsujimura is almost the same as the movie. Chuuya throws his gloves and activates Corruption.
This scene involves his actor Uechan flying in a harness, where he did flips a few times. On his background is an animation of the levitated rubbles and the building he used to throw at the dragon.
Bless Uechan's throat for all the screaming
Tumblr media
â–ŒSoukoku scene
Chuuya shouts Dazai's name, and punches him waking him up. Dazai touches his cheek to deactivate Corruption. (Same lines with the movie, yes Dazai is still Snow White)
Chuuya asks him to let go but Dazai refuses saying that the place they are in is where the mist is the most concentrated and Arahabaki will end up separating from him.
Tumblr media
â–ŒAtsushi reflection with Byakko
Atsushi realizes that the orphanage director must have known that he killed Shibusawa, but wondered why he never told him.
The orphanage director appears at the end saying that he hid the truth from Atsushi because he thought Atsushi wouldn't be able to accept it and would be crushed (mentally) once he knew about himself.
â–ŒAftermath
Bokura plays in the bg
Aku leaves
Dazai arrives saying that Atsushi was saved because of them
Atsushi butts in saying that Dazai was the one who did
(same lines with the movie)
After Atsushi says the "more beautiful" line, Oda's voice-over plays when he told Dazai to go to the side that saves people because that's a little bit more beautiful.
â–ŒAftermath Chuuya
Ango calls Chuuya saying that the battle is finished thanks to them, and now he's ready to give his life in return.
Chuuya just laughs at him saying that his life isn't enough to pay for this. He also tells him that he understands that Ango was just a small fry in the government six years ago so wasn't able to do anything about the Shibusawa case. Ango thanks him but still tries to insist but Chuuya hangs up.
Tumblr media
Akutagawa shows up, but he doesn't bow at Chuuya (unlike in the movie) and just continues walking after Chuuya told him that Dazai is alive. Chuuya calls him to lend his shoulder because he can't move and gestures him to come closer.
Aku does and Chuuya laughs at how unwilling he looks and asks if Aku is still mad that Chuuya called him weak. Aku says that he's not bothered at all.
Chuuya tells him that he shouldn't worry because they're both included in Dazai's plans, which means that Dazai thinks that they are essential in beating Shibusawa.
Aku remains silent. Chuuya then tells him that as Dazai's ex-partner, he's gonna say it - that Dazai approves of Aku. At the very least, Chuuya does approve of him too.
Aku just says that he's nothing compared to Chuuya.
Tumblr media
â–ŒDays after
Atsushi and Kyouka are back at the Agency, where they wave off to everyone as they go on a new mission.
Voice-overs of the ADA stage play cast were played sending them off.
Tanizaki: Take care!
Naomi: Stay safe!
Kunikida: Don't forget your report after.
Ranpo: Get me sweets on your way home!
Yosano: If possible, go back here with injuries, okay?
Kenji: Let's eat some gyudon later!
Fukuzawa: Atsushi, Kyouka, take care and come back safely.
â–ŒClosing
Chuuya talks to Mori on the phone, reporting that the mission has been accomplished.
However, he gets instructed to do the send-off or the farewell greeting to the fans on the stage.
Chuuya, angrily to the audience: What are you looking at, huh?
Send-off? *takes a sit elegantly and stares at the crowd*
Ugh, okay,, *stands up*
Be careful not to be engulfed by the mist when you go home, okay? See ya.

Note
Okay so I know someone already requested something like this so you can ignore this if you want, but I was wondering if you could do ADA Dazai, Akutagawa, and Atsushi reacting to their s/o almost dying during a mission? Also I love your writing!
❄ Bsd Characters reaction to s/o almost dying
Includes: Dazai, Atsushi and Akutagawa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ᮀ/ÉŽ: I hope you like this dear! And I am glad you like my writing đŸ„ș💘; Warnings: mentions of death (obviously) and blood
Tumblr media
Dazai Osamu:
Tumblr media
{Season 2 Spoilers so beware ✹}
While Higuchi was talking with Dazai
You were left with Atsushi, Kirako and Naomi
You weren’t expecting at all to find the catastrophe called Q approaching you guys
Just as you were about to warn them about touching him, he took control over Atsushi
To which he started attacking you guys
While Dazai was with Higuchi and oblivious to what’s happening until the last moment
When he found out he ran back and hoped that none of you were hurt
But the sigh of you getting choked by Atsushi and on the verge of death as you were losing your breath was too much
“A-atsushi please l-let go..” you said weally as your face was losing its color
He touched Q’s doll as fast as he could and nullified his ability
He held you in his arms just as Atsushi let go and was staring at you with eyes swirling with hurts and worry
Why didn’t you use your ability? Did you not want to hurt Atsushi?
He almost lost you right before his eyes
And you would’ve suffered a lot until you got to...
He doesn’t even want to mention it, he can never bare the thought of you dying
Dazai was a man of a strong mind and emotional control
However you were his weak point
He caressed your cheek as he saw you trying to regain your breathing again
Millions of questions flooded his mind but as he saw Q leave with the train promising to get back at him for locking him up
Dazai growled lowly and dangerously
“Next time I see you I will rip your heart out and I will make you regret thinking about hurting Y/N, I promise.”
He then looked down at you, with his face void of mischief or hatred as if he had another face
“Love, are you alright now?”
He knew it was pointless to ask you but he was waiting for any kind of reaction
It was needed to get you all to a doctor to make sure nothing more than what he saw happened
He sighed in relief as he saw you stir and snuggle closer to his chest
He placed a soft kiss to your head while you opened your eye “Samu..?”
He put you to his back to give you a piggy ride back home
“Angel hold tight.”
You placed a firm grip holding onto him
“I am so sorry, I can’t believe I did this! I am no use! I am sorry Y/N-san!”
The poor boy rambled as he was scarred from what he did
Let alone to what he almost did to you
His favorite person in the ADA
His superior’s lover
As he was lost in thought
Dazai slapped Atsushi
“Stop pitting yourself. Pity yourself and life becomes an endless nightmare.”
The boy looked up with fear evident in his eyes
“BUT I HURT Y/N-“
“It’s alright, you didn’t mean to. At least she is okay now.”
Dazai’s grip on you tightened
He never wanted to see you like that again
And he was going to make sure of that
Atsushi Nakajima:
Tumblr media
{This is before the Guild went ✹poof✹ btw}
Frantically searching everywhere he knew
Atsushi was worried
Where did you go?
Just an hour ago you were by his side smiling like the angel you are
Now he can’t find a trace of you
He came back to the agency empty handed and a gloomy face
The first thing he heard was Tanizaki calling to him
“Atsushi! They have Y/N and they want you in return of giving her back!”
His eyes flashed a dangerous yellow, was this about the bounty on him?
Why did you have to be included in this?
“Atsushi, think rationally.” His brunette superior warned.
(Yes as if Dazai wasn’t freaking out in the headcanon above)
When they met up with the gang that took you Atsushi was heart broken and his blood was boiling
They had beaten you up and tortured you for god knows how long
Your body looks so weak and bruised and he swore to make them pay
“Let. Her. Go.”
The man laughed loudly and retorted “What would a kid like you do?”
And he saw what a kid like him would do
Each one of them was wincing in pain as Atsushi was approaching you and gently picking you off the ground
“I am sorry I couldn’t stop this from happening...” he said with guilt lacing his words and evident on his face
Even with Yosano healing you
Atsushi was worried and a sad expression was settled on his face since he came back with you
Only difference being that now he was holding onto you for dear life
He was afraid that you would disappear from his arms any moment
“Atsushi baby, I am fine. Look!”
He looked up at you with sad eyes as he remembered how you were an hour ago
“I can’t stand seeing you hurt and I will try my best to never see you like that again.”
His hold on you tightened as he listened to your heart beat
He never wanted it to stop
He placed a soft weak kiss on your cheek as he was barely holding back his emotions from blowing up to the open
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke:
Tumblr media
He was known for how strong he was and he was fierce
And that was on his good days or qoute on qoute “good moods”
But what the man just did in front of Akutagawa was something far of getting him in a merciful mood
A spike slicing its way through your stomach
Blood coming out of your mouth as your eyes widen in pain
The sight shocked Akutagawa and even brought to him memories
Very unpleasant memories
His heart filling with unbelievable fury
He used his Rashumon to slice everything and anything in his way
And he made sure that man that hurt you go through hell and back before meeting his fate
After the blood splattering and body shredding that happened
He approached you silently and picked you up
As fast as he could he ran back to the Port Mafia
Hours of waiting for your recovery and consciousness
He was leaning on the wall as he was looking at you, worry buried deep in his iris
However it wasn’t evident to the normal eye
For Akutagawa was always the hard to read type unless he was disgusted or angry
‘What if you weren’t okay?’
‘What if you didn’t make it?’
‘Was he really that weak that he couldn’t protect you?’
‘Is he really going to be the reason you leave this world?’
His thoughts were cut off by the soft muttering of his name from your lips
“Aku...?”
He walked towards you and placed his finger on your neck
Normal heart beating, thank god
(And yes you can measure your heart beat like that, my coach told me that)
He slightly flicked your forehead
“Try not to die, idiot. I’m really not bothered to replace you.”
His voice betraying him as it was cracking at the end
You knew this was rather a bad experience that he doesn’t want to remember ever again
“You need to be more aware of your surroundings and take care of what happens around you, dumbass.”
“Do you really think I would be okay with you leaving me just like that?”
You held his hand and smiled and somehow that managed to calm him
“I am fine now; isn’t that what matters?”
He scoffed and kissed your hand
“As usual tell anyone about what I do for you and you will sleep outside.”
With your usual bratty attitude coming back his heart rests inside
He is glad you are okay
Really glad

Claim (Yandere Chuuya Nakahara)
Pairing: Yandere! Chuuya Nakahara X Fem reader
Summary: You have the courage to mock Dazai when he flirts with you casually, different from almost every other woman Dazai throws himself on. Seeing his nemesis being stepped on brings Chuuya great joy, which escalates to him taking a special interest in you.
Notes: So...If you read my BNHA fics you should know I have a thing for wind superpowers, so reader is going to have a wind ability in here as well. Be gone if you have problems with that. My first take on BSD, on Chuuya nevertheless... Hopefully this does not flop. I thought about writing Kunikida for this one, but I just could not get Chuuya’s smirk off my mind (Along with Fyodor’s but that is for another day) Also this is self indulgent as hell, so be warned. I’m not satifised with the final result, as some parts feels a bit forced...But there you have it.
Word count: 2.8k
Warnings: Drugging, coercion, mention of knife and blood, implied non con  at the end
Tumblr media
You were sitting beside a floor window of a café when Chuuya first saw you, when he was on his way to get some beer. At first, it was not you that drawn his attention, it was that guy on the opposite end of the coffee table.
Osamu Dazai. Also known as the bane of Chuuya Nakahara’s existence and his greatest adversary. Out womanizing again, he never changes. He was about to ignore those shady behaviours and just carry on, until he hears how you are attacking Dazai with your words.
“Dazai, please. I bet you said that to every woman you met.” Slowly stirring your hot beverage, you smirk as you took a little sip. “It is a miracle how you got this far unscathed.” You seem to see right through Dazai, how clever. Now Chuuya have to hear how this can go down. His own drink can wait, this little comedy show is more worthwhile.
“But beautiful! Your eyes shine like the brightest stars, I just cannot let that go unappreciated.” “If you are so found of shining things, I can get you a pack of glitter to stare at. I would actually appreciate it if you stop staring right into my eyes, thank you.” This is a mistake, you thought. You thought Dazai was just being a good Senpai when he invites you to join him for a quick coffee at lunch. And of course being the naïve new recruit, you said yes without hesitation.
A pack of glitter? Oh dear. Out of all those years Chuuya has known Dazai, he had never seen the brunette getting such a good roast. Placing a hand over his mouth to muffle his chuckles, Chuuya is beyond amused. Most women would be too busy swooning over that pretty face, but you did not even flinch and insulted him just like that. You got some sass!  That is the first time the mafia executive had taken a formal notice of you. You are indeed a fair woman, no wonder Dazai would choose to hit on you.
He does vaguely recall recently hearing about the ADA obtaining a new recruit. A young woman with a wind ability. But you are far more interesting then that. “This has been pleasant, but I think it is time to head back to the office.” When Kunikida told you Dazai can be a handful yesterday, you did not expect this is how you would find out. You stopped him from taking out his wallet, shaking your head: “Dazai. I will pay for myself. Besides, you are in enough debt as you are now. See you back at the agency.”
Not even Chuuya can make Dazai appear this defeated, this discouraged. Just who are you exactly? Forget the beer, Chuuya needs to know all about you at once.
Reading through your file back at the headquarters, your info is enough to make even Chuuya raise his eyebrows a couple of times.
You can command any gas to your will? That is a rare gift, even the Port Mafia had yet to secure that. Too bad you are on the wrong side, Chuuya can just think of so many ways of using your ability to its full potential. The file was put back to the storage, sure. But you had impressed him back at that café and peaked his interests. It would be hard to make him unsee Dazai being humiliated. But you did not linger on his mind much after.
However, that would not be lasting too long. Chuuya was shocked to hear some of the members has died in dark alleys of yokohoma, apparently from lack of oxygen, but without any traces of choking or even a cut. Mori even called him to the office to discuss about this.
Pictures of you, in causal and business attire lay across the expensive office desk. You were smiling in all of them, although that smile does not look like an amused one to Chuuya now.
“Do you recognize this woman?”
How can Chuuya forget about you? The woman who gave him the best comedy show, who stomped on Dazai’s philanderer ways so mercilessly. “A new recruit of ADA. Her air control abilities must have enabled her to suck the oxygen particles out of human bodies. It also gives her the ability to levitate and an incredible speed, which is such a headache. Even Akutagawa cannot seem to finish her.”
What a little troublemaker you are. Consider Chuuya motivated. He knows you are strong, but not anyone can escape from Akutagawa. Where is the fun without a little challenge?
“I will go. My abilities would allow me to get the job done.” Heck, this once he would get something Dazai cannot have! In this mini game, at least, Chuuya would be the winner.
“Chuuya, you seem awfully enthusiastic about this. May I ask why that is?” Stroking Elise’s hair, Mori carefully observe the young man’s expressions. “She has the guts to insult Dazai, should be a fun one. I do not plan to kill her, however. That would be such a waste.”
“Yes, that would be most ideal. Her ability would be a valueble asset, here’s some drugs if she is being too difficult.”
Oh but you are so much more then the wielder of a powerful ability to Chuuya.
------------------------------------
Work has been a pain in the ass lately, so on your afternoon off, you choose to take a walk along the water in the park. Everything looks so peaceful, children running amok, couples holding hands, the sound of the birds chirping, all sounds so natural and calming. You let out a sigh of relief as you settled on a bench beside a tree and closed your eyes, breathing in the forest scent, still sleep deprived from the nightmares.
Although you only killed those gangsters to defend a civilian, you regret it somewhat afterwards. You expected revenge, but not from someone like Akutagawa? You can only remove the target’s oxygen from their bodies when you are standing still and concentrated, never while fleeing for your life. If it is not for your unparalleled speed, you were sure one of those dark spikes is going to be your ultimate demise. It was too close for your liking. Before you were always able to leave safely with your ability, but this time you barely made it.
Dozing off in a park while the Port Mafia is on your trail? Chuuya would advise against that.
However, he would say he much prefer this compliant, soft look on your face compare your sarcastic, confident grin towards Dazai. Dark circles under your eyes? Have you been having sleeping problems? Looks like the little hero is not as brave as she lets on.
Now, he needs to be careful. Even though you look as harmless as a little bunny now, Chuuya can still recall the last expressions his deceased subordinates made. Dying from oxygen loss surely does not look pleasant. While the file said you can only use that special method once per week, Chuuya cannot leave any room for errors.
Ah, it seems you had carelessly dropped your handkerchief on the ground. You did not seem to notice. As if you want him to come near. Who is he to decline a lady’s invitations?
Sensing his approach, you jumped out the bench and distanced yourself from Chuuya. Always on your guard, this should be interesting. Instead of kept closing in the distance, Chuuya bend down and picked up your handkerchief. “Did you drop this?”
See, you were overreacting! He is only trying to tell you that you dropped something. Feeling the guilt of mistaking him for an assassin churns in your stomach, you put up an apologetic smile: “My apologies, sir.  And thank you very much.” Yet you cannot shake off the feeling of you saw him before. Is he a government official? Or perhaps a store clerk? It would be rude if you actually do know him. Yes, you definitely seen his handsome face somewhere. Reaching out to his outstretched hand, you tried to retrieve your handkerchief. But as you take the little square cloth into your hand, his slim but firm fingers snapped around your wrist like handcuffs, seizing you with a smug smirk on his face. “Let go of me, Sir. You wouldn’t want me to use my ability on you.”
Your gaze turned cold as the winter snow, as if you are willing to punch him in the face then and there.
A good chance to observe your ability in action. How can Chuuya miss this opportunity? You tried to wiggle out of his grasp while activating your winds, but to your horror, it does not seem to have any effect on Chuuya. Sure, his hat and hair are flowing because of the strong wind, but he has not moved a single inch, still clenching your left wrist in his hand, lips still curling upwards. Turning to your second solution: bringing rocks to hit him until unconsciousness. Why wouldn’t the rocks move? Just who is this man? “Are you with the Port Mafia?”
That took you long enough. Chuuya let out a sinister chuckle, pulls you into his embrace with ease. Locking his right arm around your waist, he whispers beside your ear: “Of course, cutie. And you just walked straight into my trap. Now, it is best if you do not move, I would hate for this knife to leave a scar on your fragile little neck.” Feeling a thin, cold blade pressed against your throat, threatening to cut into your skin, you nervously gulped. Who is he exactly? You should have memorized the faces of the big names of the mafia-
Your ability is impressive. Even Chuuya has to admit that much. If it were not for the reinforced gravity he applied on himself, he would be on the other side of the park by now. Such a shame you are working for that little agency. Crap. You finally remember. Cursing sleep depravation under your breath, you recall where you had seen his face: the files back in the agency. One of the executives, Chuuya Nakahara, with the powers of manipulating gravity. That is why your winds cannot push him away. Just how did you end up with an executive’s knife pressing against your throat?
Under ideal circumstances, you would order the oxygen particles to stay away from this man, but that ability could only be used once per week. You have not recharged enough, and the fact that you are not in best condition does not help either.
“Now, you got two options, sweet. First, you can try to get away, and it would not end pretty.” Chuuya laughs he feels you shiver, clearly frightened by the idea of your blood spilling out like a fountain once he slices open your throat. Your resistance has pathetic impacts on him, but you have to at least try. You have been neglecting your physical training because you often rely on that extraordinary speed your ability grants you. However, that also means you are helpless in close up situations such as present. Not so confident now, aren’t you? “Second, pay a visit to our headquarters. The boss would like an audience with you.” You certainly do not want to fall into the hands of the port mafia. However, there are civilians in the park. They did not seem to notice how Chuuya is holding you at knifepoint.  Letting yourself, an ADA agent die here would mean the agency’s reputation is done for. Getting yourself killed in broad daylight, in a public place no less! How incompetent. Looks like the only option is to go with him, for now. “Fine. I will go with you.” “Smart choice. But I would expect no less from an intelligent woman like you.” He carefully removed the knife, and just when you were about to relax and think of a retaliate method, you felt a sharp pain on your left arm. A syringe. Just what did he injected you? Watching you fall onto the ground by your knees, barely able to lift a finger due to the sedation drugs, brings him a strange sense of contentment. Chuuya does not consider himself as a sadist by any means, but after seeing how you treated Dazai, shining with confidence and smugness, only made this submissive version of you so much more satisfactory. “Do not look at me like that, dear (y/n). Just a little insurance that you would not leave without permission. I hope you understand.” You do not, but that does not concern him. Swooping you up effortlessly, Chuuya carries your weak body out of the park, straight to a van that awaits there for a long time.
You never imagined, not even in your wildest dreams, that you would be in the Port Mafia’s headquarters like this. Being carried through corridor after corridor ,by one of their executives like a doll, although not by your own free will. Guards everywhere, almost at every turn point. Maybe you can break one of the windows and fly out? Alas, that would not possible if all you can generate is little breezes due to your present condition.
“Do not worry, (y/n).” Feeling your body tense up, Chuuya choose to reassure you, or at least try to. “If simple murder was my objective, you would be dead in that park.”
There are worse things then death. You really did mess up this time. You do not even want to imagine what they could do to you.
“Enter.”
Placing you gently on the carpted floor, like a fragile china artifact, Chuuya bowed to the man behind the desk. “I brought (y/n) here, as you requested.” A cloved finger lifts your chin up, forcing you too look up into his eyes. You did not flinch, instead you stared back with unveil anger burning in your (e/c) eyes.
“Quite a feisty one. Would you like to join us? Your wind ability completely outclasses my other assassins. That speed and that special method! Truly impressive. You should not waste your talents in that agency. The Port Mafia could offer you more.”
Using the little strength you had left, you got away from the mafia’s boss’s reach and shook your head: “I would rather die a gruesome death then working for you. If you want to kill me, you can do it now.”
“Then, I suppose we need to change our method of negotiation-” Great, you can already feel those cold torture instruments.
“I can handle it.” To your surprise, Chuuya stopped the man from saying any more.
The older man looks to his subordinate with curious eyes. “Chuuya? Are you sure? Wouldn’t it be better to leave this to our experts?”
“Leave it to me, boss. She would be compliant within a week, I can guarantee.” Why would he want to trouble himself with this? Well, he merely wants to claim what Dazai cannot, as simple as that.
“As you wish, then. As long as you do not break her beyond repair, she is all yours.”
You want to shout, to scream that you are not some object to be hand over, but you just do not have the energy to do so. There is not much you can do beside being a silent observer on the ground.
Instead of a torture chamber, Chuuya took you to his personal quarters in the Mafia base. Perhaps he wants to do this the tender way? Sway you with high salary or numerous other perks of working in this mafia?
It is when he thrown you on the bed, straddling over your helpless form, tearing your clothes off mercilessly, you realize how wrong you were.
“You look so good under me, where you belong.” He did not even bother to unbutton your blouse, just ripped the fine fabric off swiftly, grinning at your horrified expressions. “Come on, do not look so scared. This is not like you. Where is your fierce spirts when you insult Dazai?” Has he been stalking you? How could he-
“Ah, no matter. That jerk tried to win you over, but it is me who would get you.You would forget all about him when you are busy screaming my name later. Do you think you can handle my torture methods, dear (y/n)? Gods, you are beautiful. No wonder why Dazai would be head over heels for you.”
How you bit your lip to supress your tears, trying to cover your chest for some modesty, only made his lust increase drastically. This time, Chuuya can finally be proud of his accomplishment: claiming a prize Dazai can never possibly won.

dazai x reader word count: 1.9k
authors note: i was super drunk when i wrote this, i may not write another dazai fic unless i get strong inspiration haha
TW: major character death, dissociation, people dying, panic attacks
Dust and rubble were everywhere as you ran along the streets. A new threat was attacking the ADA but this time they went all out. They were bombing the whole city and killing so many people. Once again the Port Mafia and the ADA had to fight together to protect the city you all loved. Nobody even knew who these people were, you only knew where they were from and that was Italy. Perhaps this was the Italian Mafia? Who knew but if so why were they attacking the whole city and not just the Port Mafia? Who knows all you knew was your lungs were burning from how fast you ran. Suddenly you heard a loud BOOM and ducked behind a wall as debris flew everywhere. A decent sized piece hit you right in the face and you fell to the ground. Your eyes squeezed shut as you felt the warm blood run down your face.
Dazai had to be somewhere, you were sent on this mission together. As you heard a woman scream you jumped up, not caring how bad your head hurt and ran towards her. Right as you were about to grab onto her arm to lead her somewhere safe a man jumped out from the smoke and slit her throat. Without a second thought you grabbed your gun and shot him in the head. You turned and gagged. You never had to kill while being in the ADA, it was very rare, so rare you could count it on your hands. This was number two for you. These people were animals. After taking some deep breaths and putting your gun away you turned to run but instead slammed into someone. You thought fast and grabbed your knife ready to gut someone if you had to, except someone grabbed your wrist and squeezed. This isn't someone trying to hurt you this was-
“Dazai-san?” Your voice was hoarse and your throat hurt from all the smoke.
“Don't go running off on me because you're scared YN-chan.” For everything that was going on his tone was all too cheery.
“Dazai I just killed someone.” To Dazai you knew you sounded so pathetic.
Christ the man had a kill count higher than you could imagine this could be like childsplay to him. Not that not was even the time to be thinking about it but the two of yours relationship was complicated. Sometimes you were formal and sometimes you werent. Somedays you acted like friends and some days you acted like lovers who couldn't be ripped apart. Perhaps it was due to his fear of commitment he never put a label on it but you two had had sex and one time even made love. That's way more than friends, especially when it came to Dazai.
“Best not to worry about that right now, come on.” His tone was not as cheerful.
He began to pull you away, all while he dogged the debris that was coming. The sounds of explosions went off all around you. That was the mission, get to the center of Yokohama and activate your ability. Your ability was called “Reality Check” it could turn anything within a two hundred foot radius of you fake or not. With the help of Ranpo, you had somehow realized that if you made it to the center of the city and activated your ability, like a metal, It would conduct and spread everywhere and affect everything. This could hurt you or drain you almost to death. Yosano was supposed to come with you to heal you but had to stay back when everyone realized just how insane these people were. The death toll was going to be the biggest they've ever seen. So Dazai was sent with you to use his ability istead.
One hand held onto the bandaged man while the other held onto a dagger. The smoke was so thick all around you almost couldn't even see him three feet in front of you. All of the sudden a man jumped out and grabbed onto your arm and ripped you from your friends grasp. You let you a short but loud yell as he threw you down to the ground. He must've dragged you a couple feet from Dazai because you could hear him but you couldn't see him. Your cheek stung from the scrap that now marked it as you fought your hardest. Your scream for Dazai was cut short by this man's hands wrapping around your neck. Was this it? You could barely breathe due to the smoke, the minute his hands squeezed you felt lightheaded. As you felt around you grabbed a rock. It wasn't big enough to hit him over the head, so you did what that suicidal lunatic taught you and aimed for the funny bone. At least he would loosen his grip. You knew you hit it when he grunted another hit might bet him to stop but relief washed over you all of the sudden.
You gasped for air, you filled your lungs to their capacity. Almost drunk off the feeling of being able to breathe again you hadn't noticed that Dazai had stabbed your knife into the enemy's throat. Even as he spit up his blood onto you, you smiled at the sky.
“I'm glad you remembered what I taught you YN-chan. I haven't had to get this bloody since my Port Mafia days.” His cheerful attitude was back although he had a far away look in his eyes. Maybe this is who he really was, beneath the plethora of masks. It's almost like he missed this, but, maybe he did. He lent his hand to you and you took it.
“We are almost there, Dazai.”
He’d never seen you like this before. So much dirt and grime on your face and ripped clothes. You were so skittish but ready to attack. This would change you and perhaps he'd be an asshole and ask you to be his after all of this. For all he knows, maybe while you have that lost look in your eye while getting healed he'd profess his love so you have no other choice but to say yes. You could not see him but he smiled at this.
The building came into view and you both ran through the doors and down to the basement. When you got down there you both got to work. You found the right spot and sat down. Your legs screamed in relief.
“Atsushi and Akutagawa are ready to take out the bombers as soon as this works.” You said it to Dazai but more to yourself.
He gave you a nod and sat on a filing cabinet. You activated your ability and tried to focus. All you could think about was how you killed someone, all the blood on you, how many people died. The bombs seemed to have died down a bit but some were still falling. Your whole body hurt and you were about to fall over until Dazai grabbed you.
“No!” You were about to push him away and he grabbed you tighter.
“It wont work YN, you'll die. They will figure it out you have helped enough. We need to get you back to Yosano.” He grabbed you and carried you to the doorway.
Right as you were about to exit another bomb went off and debris covered your way out. Dust and concrete were falling from the ceiling above you. It was very unstable. Dazai put you down and started to try and remove the debris from the pathway. The ceiling was so unsteady, one more bomb and it would come crashing down. Now you started to panic. Your breaths were coming out short and fast. You were gonna die, you were gonna die, you were gonna die.
“Dazai!” Your voice cracked as you yelled his name.
You held onto your stomach as you doubled over, hyperventilating. Dazai knew there was no way out. Too much debris, even if you two went at it like animals you wouldn't get it free in time and you were way too weak to use your ability. Huh. All the ways he’s been targeted, all the ways he's tried to kill himself, he's going to be crushed to death? At least it's with a pretty lady. He turned around and watched you, your eyes squeezed shut, panting so much drool was starting to come out. He was surprised you hadn't passed out yet. Death, you were so scared but maybe it was for the best. Would someone as delicate and beautiful as you be able to recover after this?
“Osamu, I don't want to die. I want to live! Please save me! I don't want to die please oh. Oh please I don't want to die!” Your hands went to your hair and you gagged.
Dazai went up to you and grabbed your arms, in an instant your hands grabbed onto the fabric of his clothes. You weren’t ready to die, not like he was. The sobs that came from your mouth were loud and ugly. Never in your life did you think he’d ever see you this way, but at this point nothing even felt real. Your face hit his chest and your tears soaked into the cloth as he held you.
The man knew you must be dissociated by now, so petrified of your inexorable death that your brain would rather confuse reality with what was real. He rocked you back and forth as he listened to the chaos outside the building. When you're suicidal, death isn’t scary until someone you love and care for meets their demise. He was scared but only for you so hey, what was he gonna do? Dazai was half tempted to knock you out so you wouldn’t actually have to hear the last bomb and the ceiling above you crumble but he also had this super selfish need to not be alone right now.
“Osamu, tell me you love me.” Your voice sounded far away and it shook as you held onto him.
He could feel your cheek squished up against his chest. His eyes widened a bit. So you knew huh? He always knew there was something special about you. Dazai knew it was coming.
“I love you, YN.”
“I love you too Osamu.”
Like you always could, you made his heart flutter.
“Now listen to my heartbeat and count with me my beautiful belladonna!”
“5”
He knew it would hit any second you as you both continued to rock back and forth.
“4”
You felt like you really were waltzing through a field with flowers and willow trees and a beautiful sunset. Dazai’s heartbeat made you feel safe.
“3”
Dazai could feel tears welling up in his eyes. This is always what he wanted. To die with a beautiful woman. Why does this seem so hard?
“2”
Nothing was real. Only you and him swaying. Where were you? A ballroom? Your living room again?
“1”
Dazai looked up as he heard the biggest crash and explosion of the day, it must’ve happened right outside the building. Everything started to shake, dust started to fall and the entire foundation started to crumble. You smiled.
“Goodnight Osamu, I’ll see you when we wake up.”
The first tear in years fell down his face as everything went dark.

Tumblr media
“hurry up and go!” you hissed at atsushi who was struggling to turn off the safety on his gun while you were trying to fend off demon snow. atsushi lets out a yelp as he fumbles with his gun. before atsushi could pull the trigger, demon snow was shoved away by no one other than your ex, akutagawa ryuunosuke.
akutagawa stands up from the ground with a huff. “akutagawa!” atsushi exclaims, aiming his gun towards the boy. akutagawa clears his throat, making brief eye contact with you. you stared at him with an uneasy expression on your face. it has been awhile since you last saw the boy you once loved.
“what a pathetic weapon” akutagawa deadpans, shoving his hands into the pockets of his coat. “no pea shooter is going to have an effect on her” he emphasizes the last word, her, motioning to rashomon who seemed to have a mind of its own just like demon snow. just as rashomon struts in, you felt demon snow’s presence behind you.
before anyone could attack, the weretiger has pounced on rashomon, sending it to the other side of the street. “how amusing.” akutagawa comments, “let’s see who comes out on top” an amused smile on his face watching his ability take on his proclaimed enemy’s ability.
“now isn’t the time for that!” atsushi interjects. as the two was about to start bickering in the middle of an ability battle, demon snow takes this chance to make a move on you. you easily blocked her katana with your knife just in time.
“there should be a secret passage nearby for the mafia brass!” you managed to let out. akutagawa scowls, knowing you were right. “tsk. let’s go, jinko” he calls out to atsushi as he runs towards the restaurant. atsushi looked like he was deep in thought. whether or not to follow akutagawa or help you with fighting your own ability.
“hey-” “just go! i’ll be there, i promise!” you cut him off, knowing how long he decides to make a decision. you manage to shove demon snow far back but she was quick on her feet. “all right..” atsushi then follows akutagawa.
you bought yourself some time after sending demon snow flying. you immediately run towards the restaurant that had a secret passage and swiftly maneuver around the bar, barely managing to get inside the elevator and just before demon snow could get you, the doors closed.
“phew” you huff, catching your breath. “tsk, how weak” you hear akutagawa comment. the air was thick and stuffy. it’s almost like you couldn’t breathe. it was pitch black in the box too, making the situation far more worse for you and akutagawa. you wanted to avoid him as soon as possible but with the given situation, you can’t.
“this emergency passage was built in case for a gifted attack. the fog won’t reach us here” akutagawa states. hearing his voice again sorta made your heart ache. you truly missed him being around you at all times.
“what is that fog?” atsushi asked. “dragon’s breath” you hear akutagawa reply.  you focused your attention on the buttons in front of you, not wanting to hear anything. trying to clear your head and getting a hold of yourself. you’re not gonna let some stupid boy change that. your mission is how to get your ability back and that was it.
“y/n,” akutagawa calls. you felt your breath hitch hearing your name slip off his tongue like that. it felt like home to you almost. “with neither of us having abilities, you could finally kill me just like what you said that night” he says. emphasizing on the word ‘that’; reminding you of that painful night you’re sure you’ll never forget.
the night you two broke things off. the night you never thought would come in a million years.
you didn’t utter a word and continued to stare at the buttons in front of you. akutagawa tilts his head to the side “what’s wrong?” he taunts. “don’t you have a score to settle with me?” his words laced in venom but you knew better. he was testing you. he was testing if you had the guts to kill him.
atsushi scoffs, “y/n-chan doesn’t think of you anymore!” he butts in. akutagawa felt his heart drop when atsushi mentioned that. ‘have you moved on from me?’ was a question that asks himself repeatedly. his feeling of hurt instantly changed into anger. how dare this nobody speak for you.
“want to end this while we don’t have our abilities?” akutagawa challenges him. “stop right there” you interrupt the two boys, standing in between the two of them so they don’t start lashing out. you sent a look at atsushi before turning to akutagawa. “cut to the chase. do you know how to get our abilities back?”
akutagawa lets out a chuckle. ‘what was so funny?’ you thought to yourself. “that’s the first thing you say to me in months?” he then clears his throat once more, “but yeah. i know a way”
“what is it?” atsushi exclaims once more. “defeat the ability, it would come back to the owner” akutagawa shrugs. he looks at you then to atsushi, “are you that uninformed?” he rolls his eyes. you stare at his face for a bit. your heart racing as it seems like all your memories with him are crashing down on you. did you miss him this much?
“what is your plan?” atsushi’s question bringing you back to reality. “the same as ours” you respond knowing akutagawa well. akutagawa hums, “i’m going to shred shibusawa’s organs and end his life” akutagawa swears. “why? is there any other way to save yokohama?” he asks the question towards atsushi.
“we won’t kill!” atsushi declares. “that’s not what the armed detective agency does” he continued. akutagawa lets out a sarcastic laugh. “how funny.” he laughs, “you really are something, jinko”
“y/n understands what this job is all about” akutagawa suddenly looks at you. you two make eye contact and for a second there, you see his eyes soften at the sight of you. you quickly look away to hide the blush that was now forming on your cheeks. “she’s a former port mafia, after all” he sighs, remembering his golden days shared with you.
“i left the mafia to see the light of day, we talked about this already” you spoke, “i left the mafia to join the agency” you take a deep breath before looking at atsushi dead in the eye. “but the mafia killings are different from the agency’s. there’s a difference” you say.
akutagawa can’t help but smirk a little at your statement. knowing you were at his side rather than his enemy and your colleague. “y/n-chan
” atsushi stares at you in disbelief. “this wouldn’t have happened if dazai-san didn’t join the enemy side” akutagawa claims, “i’ll be the one to kill him.”
atsushi yanks out his gun and aims it at akutagawa. you don’t know what came over you but in one swift move, you jumped right in front of your ex boyfriend, shielding him from atsushi. akutagawa stares at you for a moment. ‘you still haven’t changed one bit’ he thinks to himself.
“i’m not letting you kill dazai-san!” atsushi yells. “and i’m not letting you kill him either” you snap back at atsushi. “y/n-chan.. why?” atsushi questions. from behind, akutagawa smiles and he was almost ready to hug you right there. “just.. don’t kill him. that’s my job” you dismissed.
before atsushi could say anything the elevator doors opened. akutagawa moves around you, not missing the chance to at least touch you in any shape possible. his touches still have that lingering feel to it and leaves you behind with atsushi in the elevator. “we’re not going with you” atsushi claims.
akutagawa doesn’t say anything and walks towards more into the darkness. the elevator dings, ready to close the doors when you put your hand over it and rush to akutagawa. “i’m going with him” you tell atsushi. “eh?!”
in the end atsushi tags along with you. you walked beside akutagawa with atsushi trailing behind you. “y/n-chan, why are you following him..” you hear atsushi dread . “it’s simple. he has information” you look back at atsushi, “he’s a powerful asset and we both have the same goal” you say, turning your attention to akutagawa.
akutagawa watches you from his peripheral vision before noticing the familiar cellphone dangling on your neck. “you still have that cellphone your mother gave to you?” he asked. you don’t say anything and walked faster. “mother?” you hear atsushi ask.
akutagawa stops in his tracks and faces atsushi, “you haven’t even been told about that?” rolling his eyes, akutagawa turns his attention back to you. “oy, wait for me” he calls to you, picking up his pace to walk next to you. atsushi can only stare at the two of you with a million thoughts running in his head.
“what was the shortest route again?” you ask akutagawa beside you. “0505” he answers back. you hummed and continued to walk beside him. “i see you still haven’t changed” akutagawa starts, “i figured you would be an entirely different person by now” he shrugs. you bit your lip, not knowing how to respond. “you’re still the same y/n i know” you hear him utter under his breath.
“that’s cause i still have unfinished business with you” you blurt out. unable to hide the truth anymore. you wanted him back more than ever and meeting him again just proves it.
akutagawa shuffles closer to you and grabs your hand. “when this fiasco is over, how about we try again?” he proposes quietly. only loud enough for you to hear. you squeezed his hand, a tiny gesture that means a thousand words and makes his heart race over and over again.

The sound of hurried footsteps were successfully drowned out by the hustle lingering within the busy streets of Yokohama. People chattered away either on their phone for business purposes or with their peers, laughing at jokes, pouting and enjoying themselves underneath the glowing sun of spring. The smell of food filled your nostrils as you passed them in a hurry and for a moment you contemplated getting a piece of that delicious piece of strawberry cake the bakery had on display. After all, your morning stopped you from having the slightest bit of breakfast in your system.
That train of thought, however, was interrupted by your colleague, Kunikida, picking up the phone. “Where are you? You’re already five minutes late and I doubt you’ll finish the reports you have to finish at this rate.” You couldn’t helpt the slight roll of your eyes, yet you knew that Kunikida only meant well - or so you’d like to believe. “I’m sorry, Kunikida,” you started with a heavy sigh, stopped at a traffic light and waited for the lights to turn green. “My car wouldn’t start this morning and the traffic is too horrible to take the bus. The next train would’ve arrived late so now I’m walking to work.”
To anyone else, it could sound like an excuse, but Kunikida never saw you arriving late without a plausible reason and even that case was extremely rare. Whenever he entered the office, you’d arrive at the Agency only a few minutes after him, a treat from the local bakery in your hands and a grin on your face. Truth be told, it had become a part of Kunikida’s schedule: “Greet [Name] at 08:05 am”. That’s how consistent your presence was.  “That’s unfortunate,” Kunikida spoke and glanced over at your supposedly empty desk which Dazai was occupying, mumbling something about finding your Google search history and using it for blackmail while Atsushi was quite literally dragging his superior away from your desk. Luckily, all the chairs possessed the ability to roll. ‘‘How much longer will you take?“
One hand stuffed into the pocket of your jacket, you hastily crossed the street once the traffic lights turned green and skillfully avoided bumping into people, only stopping once because someone’s dog was sniffing your leg with a wagging tail. You stroked the pet’s head affectionately and cooed at the creature that possessed such button-like eyes. At least there was one good thing about your morning now. “Hmm..Maybe about ten minutes? Could be less, could be a few minutes more,” you spoke into the phone, unsure of how long you’d actually take. If the streets continued to be so lively, then you’d definitely need longer than usual. Why couldn’t those people choose a different day to go outside and meet up with their friends and business partners? Ah, not like you had any control over such a thing.
‘‘Dazai-san! I’m sure you won’t find anything on [Name]‘s computer!“ Atsushi argued loudly enough for you to catch it over the phone. ‘‘Isn’t this what people your age call ‘finding tea‘?“ Dazai whined in response, pouted his lips and acted like he had gotten seriously betrayed by the Internet and its slang language.
‘Oh, Dazai is back?” You asked Kunikida before he could ask you to hurry up so he wouldn’t end up wringing the brown-haired man’s neck who was currently going on Kunikida’s nerves with his usual antics. A smile cracked your lips at the thought of a sense of normality returning to the Agency. Well, as normal as it could be. “Unfortunately, yes. Please try to arrive as early as possible.”
With those words being said, the call ended and the small smile fell from your lips faster than it had found home on your face. Everyone was still on high alert after Atsushi was abducted by Akutagawa and fought the Port Mafia’s rabid dog. Then there was Dazai purposely getting himself caught by the mafia just so he could find out who had placed the bounty on the young boy’s head. He was successful as always, but usually it was a death sentence once you were within the wall’s of the Port Mafia.
Of course, you believed in Dazai. His calculations were awfully accurate and somehow, everything played right into his bandaged hands. A man of such intellect would be terrifying to anyone else, but it only made you wonder how sharp Dazai really was, how deep his thoughts truly went. You’d probably never find out.
Despite Dazai’s plans always working out one way or another, you couldn’t help but worry about the suicidal idiot while everyone else brushed it off, saying he was either drifting along the river or chatting up some pretty lady. Only Atsushi and you had voiced out your concerns at the time.
Tumblr media
You’d barely made it through the door and shrugged off your jacket when your hand was suddenly held by an awfull familiar, bandaged one and chocolate orbs sparkled brightly upon your apparently long-awaited arrival. “What a blessing you are for my sore eyes!” Dazai exclaimed dramatically and pulled off his daily, overdramatical act, lips pulled into an anticipating and hopeful smile that this time you’d say yes to a double suicide with him. “Ah, [Name]! You won’t believe how dull and grey the morning is when you’re not here and all I see is Kunikida’s unflattering face.” Somewhere in the back, you could hear Kunikida call out his partner’s name in an offended and warning tone of voice, probably about to pop a vein, too.
Normally, you would’ve laughed at their antics, but this time, a frown slowly spread across your face as you looked at Dazai, his hand delicately holding yours. Only one mistake in his planned abduction could’ve sentenced him to death by the hands of some mafioso. He wouldn’t be here, holding your hand and fooling around with Atsushi, annoying Kunikida and receiving more paperwork as a result. That idiot wouldn’t ask you for a double suicide every morning or steal bite after bite of your food until it, according to Dazai, magically disappeared. He would be gone, erased, deleted. This was the first time Dazai had been at the office ever since his visit at the mafia. “A wonderful face such as yours would look absolutely stunning in a lover’s-”
Dazai cut himself off as you refused to even crack the ghost of a smile at his attempt of openly flirting with you. Usually, you’d hear him out and end up laughing at his rather serious suggestion, but this time, there wasn’t even a glimmer of amusement in your eyes. Instead, he found a layer of sudden sadness clouding your gaze, but it wasn’t enough for tears to spill. “Is everything okay?”
You lowered your gaze to the ground, bangs casting a shadow over your eyes while you slowly let your hand slip from Dazai’s gentle grasp and raised it up high. Suddenly, you smacked him upside down on the head - maybe a bit harder than you intended to, but it was deserved either way. “You idiot!,” you exclaimed loudly enough to catch the attention of your colleagues who were more than puzzled that you were upset with Dazai of all people. After all, they were convinced that the two of you were connected by the hip or siblings separated at birth.
“Ah, didn’t I tell you that I’m not as fond of pain as I am of your face, [Name]?” Dazai whined after his chin collided with your shoulder pretty hard. A pout found home on his lips as he was about to rub the sore spot you had hit so mercilessly and out of the blue, as well. “Shut up,” you said and rested one hand on his back, the other one cradled the back of Dazai’s head, getting tangled in his messy, brown locks. It probably looked funny given that Dazai was taller than you and maybe you’d laugh about that later. “I was worried sick about you,” the grasp you had on his trenchcoat tightened like he was about to disappear, slip from your embrace like water through the gaps of your fingers.
Chocolate-like orbs widened as he understood what the hit was for and he silently admitted that it was indeed deserved. He’d told you nothing about his plan to extract information directly from the mafia instead of receiving it through a third person. Of course, Dazai knew you’d be upset with him once he’d return to the Agency, knew about the feelings you held for him.
Dazai could feel your heart thumping against his chest in relief and allowed himself to bask in the warmth you radiated. He didn’t necessarily return the hug, but ended up patting the top of your head and gently messing up your styled hair which had probably frustrated you like every morning. To be held so closely and tightly by you, reminded him of the time you confessed to him one late afternoon. Now that Dazai thought about it, it was a lovely memory and wondered if it was okay for him to give in.
The sun was beginning to set and dipped the office of the Agency into an orange hue, giving the usually lively space a tranquil and warm aura that would be welcomed by anyone walking in. But the office was empty safe for Dazai and you who was typing away on the laptop in front of you, sending off important emails and bringing certain documents into chronological order to make it easier for Kunikida to skim through them whenever it’d be needed.
Dazai had ended up with more paperwork than necessary since he insisted on annoying Kunikida all day while you just had a lot to do. A case had caused a lot of material damage throughout Yokohama and now it was your duty to get everything organized and ready to be paid off by the insurance that had saved the Agency from bankruptcy more than once. That was why the two of you were currently stuck in the office, working overtime, unpaid.
Usually, you’d chat with the man sitting opposite of you about anything that came to mind, but that afternoon, you were nervously biting your bottom lip, chewing the sensitive flesh until it was reddened. The glances you stole of him were fleeting but you’d always look away whenever Dazai was about to make eye contact. Your cheeks were dusted in a pink hue as well and truth be told, it looked cute and suited you in a way. However, Dazai wasn’t too fond of your sudden silence. He was about to break the silence, but you cut him to it and closed the laptop shut a bit louder than necessary - you flinched at the sudden, strong sound bouncing off the walls of the Agency.
“I’ve got to tell you something,” your voice was full of conviction yet it was shaking with the insecurity of a child, your fingers couldn’t properly hold still. Interested in what you had to say, Dazai rested his chin on his palm, brown eyes attentive to your every move yet they held a soft glimmer in them and conjured a smile on his lips. “Hm? What is it?”
You took a deep breath - once, twice. It felt like your heart was trying to pound its way out of your ribcage, your pulse raced and you could hear the blood ringing in your ears. But this was no time to chicken out. If you didn’t do it now, God knew when the next best chance would be offered to you on a silver platter like this. “This might sound silly, but I think I might be developing feelings towards you,” you confessed in one breath and for a moment it felt like a burden had been lifted off your shoulders. It felt good to come clean. “You don’t have to return those feelings at all. I just..really needed to get this off my chest and I don’t want it to change anything between us,” and it was true. You didn’t mind being just friends with the suicide enthusiast as long as he remained by your side in some way. But unsaid feelings can be one’s downfall, so you took the risk.
The expression on Dazai’s face didn’t change, but it wasn’t quite readable, either. There was a certain depth to it that you’d never reach the end of, no matter how deep you swam, no matter how deep you’d cut. “I was wondering when you’d notice,” Dazai pretty much deadpanned. He had taken notice of your lingering gaze, the more frequent blushing when he’d compliment you or the fact that you always brought food with you, although you knew he’d eat it instead. The confusion on your face at that moment was quite amusing, too. Dazai chuckled, “you’re pretty much an open book for me to read, [Name].”
Of course, he’d know before you’d even notice your own feelings, you thought to yourself and let a gentle chuckle slip past your lips. It was really futile to hide anything from that man. “Promise it won’t change anything between us?”
“Promise,” he smiled in a heartfelt way.
“Yes, we’re all very happy you two get along,” Kunikida cut the moment without mercy and dumped a load of paperwork on your desk that contained things like finances, complaints, cancelled cases as well as successful ones. “But work comes first.” The blonde adjusted his glasses on his nose and then crossed the point of giving you your work for the day out of his schedule. Next was getting the discounted eggs and several other goods. No way he was going to miss out on that. “Come on, don’t be so harsh on them, Kunikida,” Yosano said, sitting on the edge of Ranpo’s desk who had been watching the scene with snacks between his fingers. “You know how they are,” the doctor tried to reason with the idealist and possibly lessen your paperwork. Kunikida shook his head no - as was expected but one could always hope, right? “That’s no excuse to be slacking.”
“Don’t worry about it,” you assured your colleagues and got to your desk only to find your Google search history opened. So that bandaged bastard really did want to find dirt on you. Luckily, this wasn’t your personal laptop but the one you explicitly used for work. “It has to be done sooner or later, anyway. I’d rather have it off the desk now than tomorrow,” getting comfortable, you opened up Excel and began typing in the different losses as well as profits the Agency had made, giving several documents your signature and the likes.
“And what was that about my face being unflattering, you bandage wasting machine?!”
“Ouch, words hurt, Kunikida-kun!”
Tumblr media
True to your words, all the paperwork was off your desk, every single data was saved on your laptop and the documents were stored away safely in a folder. When you looked out of the window, you saw that the large crowds from this morning were beginning to clear out, the sun was about to set soon. Considering the time, you doubted that anyone else would enter the Agency, today.
Atsushi was out on a job with Kenji, Kunikida was getting those discounted eggs, Ranpo had finished a murder case and most likely went home with Tanizaki’s help. Yosano had given you a hand with some of your work but left early.
You closed the Agency’s door when your ears perked up at the sound of footsteps approaching you and sighed. “I’m sorry but we’re closed for today,” you spoke and locked the door properly, letting the key slide into the pocket of your jacket. But to your surprise, it was no possible client that wanted to give the Agency yet another case. “What? You can’t recognize me by the sound of my footsteps? I’m disappointed, [Name],” Dazai feigned hurt and put his hand right above his heart. The audacity you had to not recognize him after working together for so long! You couldn’t help the surprise adorning your face - Dazai never got back to his workplace unless he was dragged by Kunikida or it was a top priority. “Yeah, you must be incredibly hurt and will never get over it,” you laughed and cocked your hips to your side. “Now, what did you come back for?”
It was at that very moment that Dazai dropped the theatrical act that you had grown so fond of and replaced it what that damned tender face of his. You know, the face someone made when they could see their puppy grow up. “Let’s go on a date,” He spoke softly, not tripping over a syllable and remaining completely composed unlike you when you had confessed one or two months ago. Heat rose to your cheeks and suddenly, you grew oddly shy. Sure, Dazai was the epitome of a flirt and regularly asked women to commit a double suicide with him, but never quite asked them for a date with a look in his eyes that made the endless depths of them seem reachable. “Are you serious?” You double-checked, eyebrows raised in curiosity of his sincerity. Although you were pretty sure that Dazai wasn’t messing around in that moment, you feared that your ears might’ve played an ill trick on you. “As serious as a suicide enthusiast can be,” Dazai confirmed and offered for you to take his hand. Your eyes flickered from his hand and back to his face a few times, wondering what changed his mind about your feelings towards him and being a little bit cautious. “Why the sudden change of heart?”
“You trust me, don’t you?” You hated it whenever he pulled the trust card. Both of you knew you could never say no to that particular question, because it’d be a lie. And Dazai had a nose for lies. Sighing, you put your hand in his and watched his face light up in a pleased way, red staining your cheeks and your heart rate gradually picking up the more you realized that Dazai was seriously taking you out. In a date way.
As the two of you strolled throughout Yokohama’s streets and ended up in a small restaurant where Dazai made up for all the times he’d eaten your food by treating you to dinner, he’d realized that maybe this was one of the few right decisions he’d ever made.
A friend of him once told him he could never fill the empty hole in his heart. But maybe you could.

If You Change Your Mind Osamu Dazai x fem!Reader
✹Hi hello again! This is something I wrote a couple years ago and I just decided to copy and paste myself lol
Some notes: Slightly NSFW, 18+, in this you work for the Port Mafia *gasp*, I was inspired by the song Old Money by Lana Del Rey ✹
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were addicted, that you knew without a doubt. But who could blame you? The manner in which he talked, the way his eyes would creep into your being always sent shivers down your spine. The way his bandaged arms felt against your bare skin is a feeling you thought you could live without; you were wrong. His brown trusses of hair that you loved to run your fingers through left your fingertips dancing and aching for the touch in the middle of the night. Every time either you or him would walk out the door your body would immediately ache for his again.
   From the moment he laid his eyes on you, you knew you were screwed. You told yourself over and over that these meetings would stop, that your infatuation with him would die out eventually. But every time you would even think about him...    "So it's true then?"    "I'd rather not say to be completely honest with you. This isn't really the best time."    "There never is with you, is there?"    The man merely chuckles as he peppers soft fleeting kisses to your neck, strong enough to almost make you forget what you were asking him. Beads of sweat trickle down your clavicle causing the brunette to lick his lips and move his lips lower. If he could, he would ravish your body all day and give it the special treatment it deserves. Not midnight rendezvous in each other's apartments, cars, or wherever you two could find without prying eyes. He wanted nothing more than to take you away from this life and give you what you needed, what you deserve. But it seemed he had to break your heart first.    A sweet moan leaves your mouth as his tongue continues its dance across your skin. You don't even care that his dampened bandages graze your skin, it's part of the experience with him. The sounds that come from you are music to his ears as his hands explore your body as if it's the first time he's touching you. Your bedsheets had long been discarded since your first round minutes prior. His eagerness to be with you in this moment shocked you, but who were you to deny this beautiful man?    "Is that why you're here right now? Because you're leaving the mafia."    He tries to silence you by putting his lips over yours slowly and gently, making sure to feel all of you. You give in to his desire ever so slightly as his tongue makes its way into your mouth with a passion you hadn't felt from him. His fingers tangle themselves into your hair as he pulls you closer, afraid to let you go. Pulling away for oxygen, he brown hues showcase lust and sadness, a strange but befitting look for him.    "I need to leave. I'm gonna join that detective agency."    At that you push him off of you and search for the sheets to cover yourself up. How could he do this to you? To your partnership? To whatever "this" is between the two of you?        "Why Osamu? Why are you leaving me?"    "I'm not leaving you, I'm leaving the mafia. Come with me. Let's commit this beautiful double suicide together!"    You remember that day well. The day he left the mafia, and when he left you. The pain and heartache you felt that day could not come close to a bullet wound or someone using their ability on you. No, it was something that cut you so deep that you vowed to never go back or speak of him again. So why are you doing this?    The alley way is barely lit up by the moonlight as you bang on a nearby trashcan three times. You hear the echo bounce off the brick buildings and wait for a response. Your black peacoat does well to hide most of your figure as your eyes dart back and forth between the street and the rest of the alley. You huff out a breath as nothing happens and you try again.    "You rang?"    It took all your strength not to scream and throw the owner of the voice to the ground. Your heart races not only out of fear, but for how you were able to feel his breath on your neck causing all the hairs there to stand up.    Pulling yourself together, you turn your attention toward your guest. "Someone needs to put a bell on you Dazai-san."    A small pout finds its way onto the mans face, "Come on (F/n), don't be like that! Why can't you call me by my first name?"    "Because I shouldn't even be meeting with you in the first place! I'm only here for business," you state as you pull a letter from your jacket pocket. Dazai takes it from you gently, making sure to prolong your exchange. If you weren't trying to cover up your feelings, you would have immediately yelped from what felt like an electric current running through your veins. "It's from Mori-san. He said it was something you should see."    Dazai hums as he reads the letter and a sly grin comes after. He'd be lying if he said he didn't feel something when he purposely grazed your hand. All he wants to do is touch you but he knows better. He knows that he's the reason you're acting this why and why you're doing what you do. You didn't get your title as "The Messenger" for nothing.    "This is such a tiny little matter, why would he send you? He could have sent anyone, but no matter! I have it."    "Great," you sigh, "now I can leave. Have a great life-"    The taller man grabs your arm as you turn to leave. "Don't you want to know what it says? It's a very good letter."    "Not particularly, Dazai-san. Now I must get going."    "Please."    The last click of your heels reverb and sounded louder than usual. Was he really saying please? And with such a soft undertone as well? What game is he playing. You swiftly turn around and march toward the man in question.    "Look, whatever game you and Mori are playing count me out. I was only here to deliver this stupid letter to you, that's all." You spit out that last part in hopes of getting him off of your back.    However, his sing-song reply makes you halt in place. "But what if I said it's about you?"    You give him a deadpan stare. "Come again?"    His smile is wicked, knowing that he's got you. "This wasn't just some out of the blue thing. I wanted to meet up with you but I wasn't sure how to do it. I couldn't just flat out ask you because you would've said no!"    "You're damn right I would have!"    Ignoring your interruption he trudges on. "So I asked Akutagawa a teeny tiny favor and here we are!"    Your eyes roll at his ridiculous comments and decide to at least give him the benefit of the doubt and hear him out. "Fine, you have three minutes-"    "Come with me."    Your eyes flew to the size of saucers. You scratched at an ear to make sure you heard everything okay. Is he serious? Right now? Your mouth opens and closes trying to find the right words to say. Would you yell at him, scream, walk away? There's too many options. Your furrowed eyebrows cause Dazai to giggle slightly as he sees the different stages of your thinking flash on your face. He really has missed that about you.    Your fists tremble as small unintelligible sounds leave your lips until you finally say, "Where was this question a couple years ago? You can't just waltz up to me and expect me to drop my life in the mafia - something that is your doing- just because you say? Who the hell do you think you are?!"    "If you would just liste-"    "Oh no, I've been holding this in for years! You left! I thought you had died because no one had seen you! And then all of a sudden you pop up with that stupid agency you mentioned-"    "I told you I was joining them."    "Shut up! The point is, you left... you left me." Your mustered up strength to yell that had left your body and you fell to your knees as tears sprung at the corners of your eyes. Your small cries made it seem like his heart was imploding on itself. He slowly approached your figure and dropped down to your level. "Dazai, I thought you loved me."    His hand gently cupped your cheek and you hesitantly leaned into it on reflex. His voice just barely above a whisper. "I left to help myself, among other reasons and one of them was to help you get out. The Port Mafia, this isn't us, it isn't you."    At his words you try to pull away from him. "Like hell you know what's good for me! What gives you the right to say that?"    "Ah, nothing I guess. But I had a couple people keep tabs on you. There are visible scars that weren't there the last time I saw you, and you have a slight limp. Did you get a concussion recently?"    "Fuck you," you hiss out. You start to compose yourself and take a deep breath. "Your three minutes is past up, thank you for wasting my time."    "Actually it's been about five.."    "Oh whatever-"    "And I know you still love me."    "Oh yeah smarty pants? And why is that?    He stuff his hands into his pockets and starts to readjust his weight, "Because whenever I'm right you would resort to childish insults and because I haven't been able to find someone as willing and loving as you to commit a double suicide with me."    Dazai's declaration makes your heart skip a beat and your steps to falter. Damn him for being super observant. Damn him for making you feel this way. Damn him. Damn him!    You let out a frustrated grunt as you weigh your options, again, in front of you. You've wanted nothing more than to leave the mafia but had no way of doing say. Dazai had said he knew of a way but would never tell you his plan. Was this part of his plan? Him leaving, establishing himself as basically a new person and then coming back to get you? It seemed so easy, attainable, absolutely ridiculous, but utterly charming in a way?    "Well I can change my mind if you're taking too long to figure this out so I'll be heading back!"    "Wait!"    You stride up and grab the back of his long coat, stopping him in his tracks. Your breathing had gotten shallower as your conversation with him had gone on. "If you change your mind right now and turn around and kiss me like you mean it, I'll come with you."    No sooner than you had uttered those words cold and slightly chapped lips were meshing with yours in a manner you thought would never happen again. Your hands grip at his shoulders to keep your balance as his tongue slides into your mouth as he tries to re-familiarize himself with you. Your heart is on fire as feelings of content and ecstasy fill your being.    When you two release from each other, a small trail of saliva connects your lips and an embarrassed smile graces your face. You feel his thumb rub against your cheek and the butterflies in your stomach are set loose. He places his arm around your waist and leads you out of the alley toward a car that wasn't there before.    "Wait," you begin to question, "how long has that car been there? And why is it suddenly snowing?"    Dazai giggles, "All of your questions will be answered in due time. Now, let me show you how much I've missed you." Before he lets himself into the awaiting car, he nods his head in the distance and a mess of orange hair runs away.    "Oi get in the car," you order, "or you'll never know how much I missed you."    You had never seen Dazai Osamu get so red so fast in your life
“I think she’s waking up.”
“Then stop hovering over her like that, you’ll scare her!”
I groaned and brought a hand over my eyes. The after effects of my visions had been pretty bad in the past (usually ranging from feeling like a slight headache to a bad hangover) but never had I experienced anything close to this. My head was pounding like a drum and honestly, if I didn’t know any better, I’d guess I’d just been hit by a truck. All around me was the clean, sanitized smell of rubbing alcohol and fresh gauze so I had to be in the hospital and the two people I’d just heard talking must be the nurses assigned to my area.
Still clutching my aching head, I slowly sat up and tried to process the entire vision I’d just had. This was the longest and most vivid one to date; I must’ve seen an entire day’s worth of events in one go, so it was no wonder I passed out. There were so many people and so many names... I knew for a fact that this vision was of my own future and I could already feel the anxiety gnawing at my guts as I tried to figure out when it would come to pass. Everything else I’d seen within the last six months had already occurred, so why should this vision be any different?
I took my hands away from my eyes and the room slowly swam into focus.
Green curtains and white cot? Check. Medicine cabinets along the far wall? Yep. Looked like a hospital ward, alright.
But something wasn’t quite right. Where were the nurses I’d heard talking earlier? Rubbing my eyes, I slowly turned to my right... There, sitting at my bedside, was a man with a very familiar face, an attractive man with shaggy brown hair, cheerful brown eyes and a deceptively charming smile.
“Sleep well?” Dazai asked brightly.
Instead of answering, I screamed.
“Woah, Woah! Calm down!” someone suddenly shouted. “It’s okay!”
I twisted to the left and saw a skinny redhead in a white sweatshirt and jeans rushing into my field of view from behind the curtains. He was frantically waving his hands in the air in an attempt to get my attention.
“You’re okay!” he repeated, as I scooted as far away as I could from Dazai, who was somehow covered in more bandages than ever. “There’s no need to be scared! You’re safe here!”
“Then why is he here?!” I shrieked, jabbing a finger accusingly at Dazai, who merely blinked in confusion.
Without waiting for the redhead to respond, I grabbed the pillow from behind me and hurled it at Dazai, who caught it right in the face. With a muffled yelp, he tipped backwards in his chair and hit the floor and I immediately reached behind me for something else to throw in case he got back up. The redhead flinched as I turned my attention to him, second pillow in hand.
“Who are you? Where am I?” I demanded. “What’s going on?!”
“I’m Tanizaki Junichiro!” the redhead cried, backing away from me as I aimed the second pillow at him. “I’m a member of the Armed Detective Agency, you’re in the infirmary in our office building and you need to put that pillow down right now!”
But I was in full fight-or-flight mode and I was in no mood to listen to him. I threw, Tanizaki ducked and the pillow crashed loudly into the medicine cabinet just over his head.
“Why should I trust you?!” I snapped, reaching for the only thing left at my side: an empty glass pill bottle.
As I snatched it off the tabletop and held it between my shaking fingers, I watched Tanizaki’s expression go from startled to alarmed.
“How do I know you’re not lying to me like he did?!”
Tanizaki shot Dazai, who was still on the ground, an incredulous look.
“What the hell did you do to her?” he whispered, as the door behind him burst open with a wall-shattering crack.
“What’s going on?” a familiar, gruff voice shouted. “We heard screaming.”
I looked to the door and saw the familiar figure of a tall, blond detective in glasses running into the room.
“Kunikida-san...?”
I felt my grip loosen just a fraction on the bottle and at once, there was a rush of relief. If Kunikida Doppo, the man who saved me from capture, was here, maybe I really was safe.
Kunikida’s glasses looked slightly cracked and he had a fair amount of blood on his well-tailored beige ensemble but other than being slightly out of breath, the man seemed completely fine. He quickly readjusted his glasses as his gaze shot back and forth between Tanizaki, cowering by the medicine cabinets in the back, to Dazai, who was still on the floor with a pillow over his face, and finally to me, backed up against the headboard, hackles raised and a glass pill bottle clutched tightly in my hands. His green-gray eyes widened in shock.
“What the...?”
“Kunikida-san!” Tanizaki exclaimed, obvious relief flooding his face. “Thank goodness you’re here. I don’t know what happened! She woke up, saw Dazai and then she just started throwing things—”
“Of course I’m throwing things!” I shot back, “You’d throw things at him too if he had a gun to your head the last time you saw him!”
Tanizaki’s jaw hit the floor. As Tanizaki looked from me to Dazai and finally to Kunikida, the blonde detective slowly dropped his head into his hand and let out a very heavy sigh. His lips barely moved as he spoke and I had to strain to hear him as he mumbled something under his breath.
“I knew we shouldn’t have gone with your plan, Dazai...”
My eyes widened. My fingers tightened around the glass bottle in my hands as the silence in the room seemed to deepen.
“What...?”
As my half-whispered question echoed around the room, it was as if the temperature had dropped several degrees. Nobody was moving. Tanizaki was still and Kunikida appeared to have figured out his mistake the instant my eyes locked with his.
“Kunikida-san...” I asked slowly, “What exactly are you all planning to do with me? Tell me... What was the plan?”
His eyes flicking momentarily towards Dazai’s prone form, Kunikida took a single, cautious step towards me. He slowly raised his hands into the air.
“Kusunoki-san.”
His hands still in the air, he took another step towards me. Something didn’t feel right...
“It’s not what you think—”
“Stop.”
He froze. I was squeezing the bottle in my shaking hands.
“I never gave you my name.”
A sharp crack echoed throughout the room; the glass pill bottle had broken in my hands. A warm trickle of blood ran down my palm.
“Get the hell away from me.”
Just then, a woman ran into the room. The tails of her white lab coat flew behind her like a sail as she dashed forward and a speck of gold glinted in her short-cropped hair, prompting a strange, nagging familiarity somewhere in the back of my head. However, the moment I spied the enormous cleaver gleaming in her right hand, the entire memory evaporated like a wisp of smoke.
“What’s happened?” she asked sharply, looking from one face to another, stiffening abruptly as her violet eyes fell upon me. “Why is she...?”
There was a low groan and Dazai finally stirred. He removed the pillow from his face, where a large patch of gauze had just been knocked askew, and sat up, looking fairly groggy as he did so. His was the only movement in the room; everyone else had stopped what they were doing to cast wary glances at each other and at me. I noticed Tanizaki’s eyes distinctly following the trail of blood flowing down my arm. Dazai turned to look at me and as he did, I suddenly remembered something important: just before he tried to cut off my legs, Akutagawa had said that the Port Mafia needed me alive...
The question was: did the detectives also need me alive?
Before anyone could react, I took the cracked bottle in my hand, the thin glass already splintered and weakened, and smashed it against the headboard. Shards of glass flew everywhere and all eyes in the room focused more sharply on me as I took the biggest shard and held it to my neck.
“Kusunoki-san,” Kunikida started, looking terrified, “Put that down—”
“I don’t know what you want with me,” I said quietly, “What anyone wants with me, but if organizations other Ability Users calling themselves the Port Mafia or the Armed Detective Agency wants me alive, well...”
My hands shook as I pressed the broken edge of the glass against my skin. In spite of myself, I grinned, weakly.
“That can’t be good, can it?”
I could hear something like static inside my skull. The intrusive thoughts I’d shoved away for so long began to emerge, clawing out from the darkest depths of my mind and fully breaking into my conscious thoughts. My fingers tightened around the glass shard and I could feel the warm wetness of my own blood dripping down my elbow as I spoke.
“I know... that I’m absolutely useless in a fight. I know that my power cannot be used to help people. I tried that earlier today and look where that got me.”
My voice shook as I spoke.
“I went out to try to get help for my neighbor today and now look what’s happened. People are hurt. People are dead. So what does that tell me?”
I swallowed uneasily.
“My powers can’t be used to help. They can only cause harm.”
I felt it: the whispers, the static inside my skull growing louder. My pulse throbbed in my bloodied hand and when I looked up into Kunikida’s eyes, I could see my own hollow eyes staring back at me from the reflection of his glasses, the pupils like bottomless black wells.
“I’ve heard it said that anyone who has an Ability has something wrong with them inside. I kept refusing to believe it, because I didn’t want to think it was true. I didn’t want to think that something really was wrong with me. For years, I kept it all to myself, even locked myself away for the past six months thinking that it would be enough... But I was wrong.”
I squeezed my eyes shut so I didn’t have to look at my reflection any longer and I was plunged into an even deeper darkness, my ears filling with a horrible rushing noise.
“I don’t want to hurt anyone. I don’t want to be the cause of any more pain.”
And then it came to me.
All of a sudden, the thoughts I’d been having on and off for some time now no longer seemed so intrusive or destructive. They were soothing and they offered me a solution. If I just did what I’d been putting off, what I’d been running away from, this could all end... Not just for me, but for everyone...
I opened my hollow eyes and took one last look around the room.
“Guess there’s just one thing I can do, huh...”
Taking a deep breath in, I readied the glass shard.
“Stop.”
Dazai stood.
“That’s not going to work,” he said quietly.
And without understanding why, I listened. My hands stayed exactly where they were and as I watched, Dazai softly pushed Tanizaki aside and strode towards me. Nobody made a move to stop him as he approached and as he got closer, I thought I saw something familiar reflected in his clear, brown eyes—a nameless, haunting something that I’d seen before though I did not remember where. The static in my head slowly began to fade as Dazai sat down at my bedside and continued to hold his gaze.
“You are in the presence of one of the best doctors in the city,” he said, inclining his head towards the woman in the lab coat. “If you try anything, she’ll bring you right back, I guarantee it.”
He held out his hand to me and as I looked at it, I thought felt the darkness inside me slowly reach back...
“And as they said,” Dazai continued, “you are totally and completely safe here. Now, if I was really going to hurt you...”
He smiled.
“I would have shot you before Akutagawa even had the chance to take you away. So, could you please drop what you’re holding and give us a chance to explain?”
I looked at him. I looked up and around the room, at the three people standing in the back. Kunikida nodded and without meaning to, I slowly loosened my grip. The glass shard dropped out of my hand.
“There, that wasn’t so bad, right?” Dazai asked, his smile widening as he took my hand.
And then I saw it.
There, in the depths of his pupils, was the nameless darkness that had haunted me for years. Somewhere in his heart...
He was just like me.
Still smiling gently, Dazai folded one half-bandaged hand over mine, his eyes never leaving my face and for a moment, it felt like we were the only two people in the room. I could feel a strange sense of calm coming over me. And then I felt something warm and wet in my hands; my blood was soaking into his bandages and I had slivers of glass embedded in my palm.
“Thank you,” Dazai whispered.
He ran his thumb across the back of my hand, his expression softening further.
“But just so you know, if you’re still looking to kill yourself after this,” he continued, still gently stroking my hand, “I have been looking for a beautiful woman to join me in a double suicide—”
“Shut up, Dazai!” both Kunikida and the woman in the lab coat shouted in unison.
It was as if a spell had broken and I looked up towards the back wall where the woman in the lab coat was now striding towards us, her deep purple eyes blazing.
“Nobody is killing themselves under my watch.”
Her eyes flicked momentarily to Dazai and for a millisecond, I thought I saw a hint of unease. She put her hands on her hips and addressed me.
“Kusunoki-san, I can prove to you that no one here intends to cause you or any of the public any harm. Lift off those covers and take a good look at your legs. It’s as Dazai said. I’ve brought you back from death’s door once before and I can—and will—do it again.”
“Death’s door...?” I murmured, trying to remember.
Images of an exploding fire extinguisher and a brilliant sunset came flooding back  and at once, I tore my hands out of Dazai’s and threw the covers off my body.
My eyes widened.
“How—?!”
My body was completely whole. Gone was the bloody gash in my left thigh, as was the numbness in my leg. I was still wearing the same jeans from this morning and though parts of the pants leg itself was still cut up, caked in dried blood and hanging by a thread, the skin underneath looked as smooth and unbroken as it had the moment I’d left the apartment. Gingerly, I reached up to touch my cheek, where I remembered a bullet grazing my skin while I’d been running down the stairs and was shocked to find that it too, seemed exactly the same as it was in the morning. However, my hair was nowhere near as long as it used to be and my fingers brushed against short, choppy, split ends where I used to have a long, tangled mess that had once stretched down to my rib cage.
I looked up at the woman once again and as I squinted at her, I spotted a flash of gold in her hair—a golden butterfly pin. As I stared at it, I suddenly remembered where I’d seen her before.
“Wait a second,” I gasped. “I saw you outside the art gallery! You showed up the same time the police did!”
Breathing a sigh of relief, the woman nodded.
“That’s right. My name is Yosano Akiko. I’m a physician and a member of the Armed Detective Agency. As you can probably tell, I’m also an Ability User.”
“Is that how you healed me?” I asked, poking at my undamaged legs.
She nodded.
“You’re lucky I got there when I did. You actually broke your neck when you hit the sidewalk. If my Ability wasn’t specifically able to heal people who were just about to die, you wouldn’t be sitting here right now.”
My hands flew to my neck and I winced as I felt the glass move against my palms.
“Th-thanks. Sorry I messed myself up again.”
“Oh, don’t worry about it!” Yosano chirped. “I can definitely heal you again. Of course, I will need to get you back to the point of near-death...”
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Tanizaki shaking his head furiously and gesticulating wildly at me from the far end of the room. Judging from the traumatized look on his face, he wanted me to refuse her offer.
“No, thanks... I think just bandages would be okay.”
Shooting Tanizaki a dirty look, Yosano clicked her tongue distastefully.
“Fine.”
As she walked back towards the medicine cabinets, towards Tanizaki, the redhead took one look at her face and ran for it. I heard him call out a hasty goodbye to me as he abruptly departed. When Yosano returned, she had a magnifying glass, a pair of tweezers and a roll of gauze in her black-gloved hands. Taking Dazai’s seat as he vacated it, she pulled my bloody hand towards her and began picking out the glass...
***
“So let me get this straight,” I repeated, looking from Dazai to Kunikida as Yosano finished bandaging up my hands. “The plan was for Dazai-san to hold me hostage—at gun point—because the Port Mafia needed me alive and the only way to keep them from capturing me was to make it look like you’d shoot me dead if they tried?”
Dazai nodded, looking pleased with himself.
“And this was also a ploy to buy Kunikida-san enough time to set up the bombs downstairs so he could blow a hole through the floor and catch me when I came falling through. From there, he was supposed to escort me outside to safety...”
Horrified, confused and overall just stunned, I turned to Yosano who merely shook her head at me.
“Don’t think about it too hard,” she said, snipping the last bandage with a pair of scissors. “You’ll just give yourself a headache.”
“Dazai’s schemes can be... rather unorthodox,” Kunikida admitted, pushing his glasses up his nose, “But they do work...”
“Right...” I mumbled. “It’s just... a lot to take in right now.”
I shot a covert look at Dazai who waved happily and at Yosano as she stood and packed away her things.
“I didn’t know Yokohama had so many Ability Users.”
“People with supernatural Gifts aren’t as rare as you think,” Kunikida said, his green-gray eyes scanning me as he spoke. “But of course, they’re not exactly commonplace either. You just happened to have met some of the city’s most prominent Ability Users, members of the Armed Detective Agency included, within the last twenty-four hours...”
As he trailed off, I found myself avoiding his probing gaze and looking instead to the door, where the good doctor, having finished working on me, was now departing. Despite the fact that I had known Kunikida and Dazai the longest out of all the detectives, I felt a growing sense of unease at being left alone in the infirmary with them. It wasn’t that I still didn’t feel safe, I just wasn’t looking forward to the impending interrogation...
Noticing my anxiety, Kunikida sighed.
“I know it’s been a long day but your case isn’t quite closed. If you’ll bear with us for just a little longer, we have some questions. The Port Mafia doesn’t send its operatives after just anyone and we’d like to find out why they were interested in you. You mentioned having a non-combat Ability but something’s not right...”
He sat down next to Dazai and thumbed through his notebook.
“We decided to look in on your background earlier,” he stated, his eyes flitting across the pages. As he spoke, I noticed he sounded just a little apologetic. “And we learned a few things, the first of which was your name. From there, we found out that you left college about halfway through your second year and have been staying at that apartment you’ve been living in ever since. According to your neighbors, you rarely venture out of your room, which which is interesting considering we met you in front of that police station this morning.”
He put down the notebook and crossed his legs.
“What’s even more interesting is the fact that no reports were filed under your name at that station, even though we saw you go back inside after we spoke. Kusunoki-san... you mentioned wanting to report a murder when you met with us this morning. Do you mind telling us more about that...? About...”
He flipped back through his notebook and squinted at something on the page.
“Your neighbor, Yamazaki-san?”
I felt my pulse pick up in my chest.
“How did you find out about the murder? It seems she has no enemies, no hidden fortunes to speak of and lives in a relatively safe area... What made you think she would be killed in a week’s time? Is this related to your Ability?”
I thumbed the fresh bandages on my palm. I could feel Dazai’s eyes on me but I didn’t speak. Honestly, I did want to talk to them. I just didn’t know where I should start...
“I have a few ideas,” Dazai said abruptly, leaning forward in his chair as I gave him a curious, hesitant look. “But until you confirm it for me, it’s just a theory. Want to hear it?”
I nodded.
“Okay, then. Let’s start here: when we first saw you outside that police station (looking absolutely stunning, I’d like to add) you were pretty distraught. You’d tried to talk to the officers about the murder, yet they threw you out...”
He laced his fingers together, his eyes still trained on my face.
“I know those guys pretty well. They’re hard-headed but they’re consistent. They would never ignore something serious as a potential murder, unless the information they were given was unreliable in some way. That drawing you gave them... Why would you give them a drawing of a tattoo and not a photo of a face? Odd, don’t you think?”
At the memory, I flushed in embarrassment.
“The other odd thing is the fact that the second officer you spoke to seemed to have taken you seriously when all you did was give them the same information.”
He reached into of his pocket and took out my drawing, holding it up in a way so that Kunikida and I could both see it.
“This is the tattoo of a hired killer who only takes jobs from those he knows in the criminal underworld—of course a normal police officer, like the first one you spoke to, wouldn’t be familiar with it but if the second one was, that means she has some connection to the criminal underworld, the largest organization of which would be—”
“—The Port Mafia,” Kunikida finished, his eyes flashing in recognition. “Who we know for a fact has been actively capturing or recruiting Ability Users for the past decade or so, regardless of combat potential.”
“So, Kusunoki-san,” Dazai said, grinning, “Did I get it right? I really hope so because...”
I felt my pulse pick up as Dazai leaned in conspiratorially, bringing his hand up to his face as he whispered, “I have a bet going with some of the others, about what sort of Ability you might have, and I reeeeally want to see their faces when they lose—”
I pulled back just as Kunikida’s fist crashed down on top of Dazai’s head and their manzai routine started up again.
“Why the hell would you tell her that?! What bet? This is completely unprofessional, I’m going to have a word with the President about this—”
“Oh, Kunikiiii-da-kuuun. You’re just mad that you were left out of the pot. Small wonder when we knew you were going to react like this—”
“Of course I was going to react like this! Who wouldn’t?!”
As they jabbered back and forth, I felt all the tension in the room—and in my own body—vanish abruptly. A soft snicker suddenly burst from my lips. And for the first time in what felt like years, I was suddenly laughing. These two, these detectives, were Ability Users as well, and even though they dealt with life-and-death situations on a daily basis, here they were, fighting like children and making stupid bets—living their lives to the fullest even though they were cursed in the same way I was. Dazai and I had the same darkness curled up in the depths of our eyes and though he liked to make terrible jokes about suicide, he was still here.
If anyone were to believe me, if anyone were to understand, it would be these two...
I stopped laughing long enough to wipe a tear from my eye and looked up to see Kunikida and Dazai stop to stare at me, the former’s hands still wrapped around the latter’s neck (Kunikida appeared to be trying to choke Dazai again). As our eyes met, Kunikida immediately dropped his partner and sat back down, his olive-green notebook back in his hands, pen held at the ready. A tiny little smile playing about his face, Dazai adjusted his collar and looked to me as well.
Bringing my hands close to my chest and closing my eyes, I took a deep breath in.
“My Ability is called ‘The Story of Your Life.’”
I lifted up my fully bandaged right hand and extended it towards the detectives.
“It lets me see moments from the future. Usually, it’s mine but I can see yours too...”
I breathed out
“All I have to do... is touch you.”
CHAPTER 15
HE WHO LURKS IN THE SHADOWS (NIGHT 3: TUESDAY)
This story has been beta'd by Momentary_Flight, Nanami_ontheShore, Shady Spades
Drip
Drip
The droplets of water fell from the cloud, one after another from above Yokohama.
Two figures walked down the street with the old fashion lamp posts guiding their way.
Drip
“Q, what were you doing in that park?” the white-haired boy suddenly inquired after a long moment of silence while keeping a steady pace.
“
I just got lost,” the child replied.
Drip
Black leather boots stepped over a small red puddle.
“Were you aware that person was nearby, Q?” Golden eyes shifted down, gazing upon the person walking by his side. With the kid’s head dipped down, their face was hidden behind black and white bangs.
“That person is very important to me,” Atsushi continued as he stepped over a dismembered head lying in the puddle of red.
Drip
“He was the one who saved me and gave me a place to belong. I won’t forgive you if you harm him, do you understand, Q?”
“Tch
I know!” Kyuusaku gritted their teeth and the arm that was clutching onto the worn-out doll tightened. “I just wanted to take a look! I wasn’t trying to go after Dazai-san or anything!”
Drip
Drip
“You will address him as boss,” Atsushi corrected, coming to a stop and with a whirl of his jacket, he turned to face the child. He reached out a gloved hand.
It was a threatening gesture, but Kyuusaku didn’t move. They just stood there, staring at the older boy with wide eyes before feeling the weight of the hand resting on the top of their head.
Drip
Despite the fact that he was wearing gloves, the hand on top of the child’s head felt extremely warm and comforting.
“I can’t tell you how you should feel and I have no right to tell you to drop your resentment towards the boss, but that person is very important to me. Do you understand, Q?”
Drip
“Yes! I understand!” Kyuusaku frantically nodded. “I won’t ever lay a hand on Da—on boss, that’s why—!”
Kyuusaku was cut off by the gloved hand gently ruffling his hair. A bright smile was instantly on their lips as if the panic from before was only an illusion.
“Thank you, Q,” Atsushi whispered softly.
It was at this moment that the rain finally came pouring down.
A large black umbrella appeared over Atsushi’s head, protecting him from the rain. The white-haired boy looked down to the person holding the umbrella over his head and smiled lightly.
“Thank you, Kyouka-chan, but you’ll get wet.” He glanced at the girl’s shoulder that was being soaked in the rain.
“I’m fine,” the raven haired girl said with a light shake of her head.
Atsushi just smiled before he took the umbrella from her hand, tilting it so that the girl was fully shielded from the rain as well.
“Those students are invited here by the boss. There is no need for you to be cautious of them, Kyouka-chan,” Atsushi told the girl. In his brief encounter with those students, Atsushi had keenly sensed her intention to kill for a split second.
“What if they hurt you?” Kyouka questioned.
“I’ll curse them if they hurt Atsushi!” Kyuusaku instantly declared.
“Even so, you can’t attack them,” Atsushi told them firmly. “That is an order from the boss. As long as they don’t use their Quirks, we can’t attack them.”
“Yes,” Kyouka nodded, easily accepting the order.
Kyuusaku on the other hand didn’t look convinced. They puffed their cheeks out and pouted. Then, as if some bright idea came to mind, they began to cackle.
“Does that mean if they use their Quirks I can curse them?” they asked in an all too happy tone.
“Yes,” Atsushi replied, looking up when the sound of a gunfire echoed from the distance. “As long as they use their Quirks, it will be our job to hunt them down.”
The sound of gunfire was joined by another from another direction
and another.
Even the heavy rain wasn’t able to mask the screams echoing into the night sky.
Golden eyes narrowed as the rain came down even harder on them.
“It’s starting.” As soon as Atsushi said that, the entire street was covered in a field of static.
Lightning began shooting down from the sky, striking different parts of the area. With each lightning strike, the static on the ground increased.
When the shattering sounds of glass echoed around them, they looked up to find the light bulbs in the lamps bursting apart. In a blink of an eye, they were trapped within the darkness.
Kyouka let out a small gasp and quickly ripped out the Bluetooth that had been in her left ear and threw it away. She was just in time too, as a second later, the Bluetooth exploded, blasted into tiny pieces that can never be assembled back together.
“Ah
!” Atsushi dropped the umbrella as blue electricity flashed out of his collar.
“Atsushi!” Kyuusaku ran up and gripped onto the older boy’s dark cloak. Even in the darkness, Kyuusaku could see the pained look on Atsushi’s face as well—as the smoke rose out from within his black coat.
Atsushi pulled his jacket down a little, revealing a metallic collar fastened around his neck. There was blue electricity flickering across the metal’s surface with smoke rising out of it.
The white-haired boy gripped the collar with both hands and ripped it off his neck to reveal the burnt ring around his skin.
“Atsushi!” Kyouka quickly took the broken collar from the older boy’s hands and eyed the ring of damaged skin around that slender neck.
“It’ll heal soon,” Atsushi told her, fixing his jacket so that his neck was once more hidden. “Kyouka-chan, take Q and go to the safe house.”
“But—”
“The enemy was stalling for the rain,” Atsushi said, looking up to the sky. “Now that all of our communication is cut off, the Ability users that have been hiding will finally come out. Without your Bluetooth, you won’t be able to control Demon Snow.”
“Without your shock collar, you might lose control of the beast,” Kyouka pointed out.
“We have no time to waste,” Atsushi told her, lightly pushing her away. “By now, they most likely have figured out how we’ve been trapping them in this place. We can’t let them get away.”
“But—”
“Besides,” Atsushi looked down to Kyouka’s hands, where she was still holding onto his collar. “The moment my collar broke, an emergency signal was sent out with my last location. He should be on his way here. The two of you need to get away from me immediately.”
“Okay.” Kyouka nodded, taking a step back. “Be careful, Atsushi.”
With that, she grabbed the whining Q, picking the child up by their waist and took off—melting into the shadows like the assassin she was.
Atsushi’s lips quirked upwards in the smallest smile.
He stood under the rain, letting the water chill him down to his bones. He slowly turned around, looking towards the direction they had come from. Scattered across the street were bodies of men and women dressed in white cloaks with their bodies dismantled.
He slowly closed his eyes and when he opened them up again, his irises were narrowed into slits.
“Ability: Beast Beneath the Moonlight.”
 “AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!”   the child cried, tears pouring down their face as pain coursed through every fibre of their being.
It hurts.
Why?
Why them?
Why do they have to go through this?
What did they do wrong to deserve this?
It hurts.
Why?
“Why?” Kyuusaku sobbed. “I never asked for this Ability?”
Why?
Why?
Why?
“So why do all these terrible things happen to me?” Kyuusaku asked desperately, looking at the man sitting on the chair. “Isn’t everyone equal in the eyes of the Lord?!”
“You’re right,” the blond man said calmly. “But that is the world we live in. So let me tell you the truth.”
Kyuusaku felt his heart stopped as he listened to the words that came out of his mouth.
“God does exist. But He doesn’t love you.”
“NO!!”   Kyuusaku screamed.
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
“NO!! NO!! NO!!”
Why?
It’s not fair!
Why?
It’s not fair!
It’s not fair!
“Perhaps you’re right,” a voice suddenly cut in, “But that means that God doesn’t love you either.”
The blond man jumped up with a gasp, but he was already too late. A crimson line appeared over his neck. Beads of blood slowly oozing out to form a diagonal line across the skin
“Lo
e
cra
” The man tried to form the words out of his broken vocal cords.
“He’s dead,” the mysterious person behind him said.
The blond opened and closed his mouth, but was unable to form any words. Little by little his head slowly slid off his neck before the force of gravity finally kicked in. His head hit the ground and along with it blood splattered all over the walls and ceiling of the underground room.
In a bright flash of yellow light, the tree that bound the child vanished.
Kyuusaku tumbled onto the ground at the same time as the now headless body. Pain was still numbing their body and tears flowing from their eyes. However, they didn’t make any sound and just looked up at the white-haired boy in a black coat standing over them.
“I do not know if God exists or not,” the young man spoke softly as he knelt in front of the kid. “But if God does exist, then He doesn’t love me either.”
“W-who
?” Kyuusaku trembled as they forced themselves to get up to face the man. Unfortunately, they couldn’t even stay on their feet for two seconds before stumbling forward. Kyuusaku had expected to hit the ground, but just as they fell forward, a pair of hands caught them and pulled them into a gentle embrace.
Fresh tears began to fall from their eyes all over again. This time, it wasn’t tears from the pain or anger at God’s betrayal.
How long has it been, since they had experienced the warmth of another person?
“Nakajima Atsushi,” the boy replied. He gathered the child into his arms and began walking out of the dimly lit room.
“Where are we going?” Kyuusaku asked as they were climbing up the poorly constructed wooden staircase.
“We’re going home.”
“Home?” Kyuusaku rolled that foreign word around his tongue. “Where’s home?”
The white-haired boy didn’t reply immediately.
He walked out of the small cottage and into the night. He didn’t even look down and just walked around a body lying on the floor with greenish tentacles and raven hair scattered everywhere.
“Wherever you want it to be, that will be your home.”
“Wherever I want?” Kyuusaku whispered, staring up at the man.
High above the sky, a single man watched the scene unfold with his hands in his pockets and crimson light shrouding his body.
“It seems that my plan has worked!” The cheerful sound of his lover buzzed into his ear like an annoying fly. “Of course, not that I ever expected it to go otherwise~”
“Yeah, yeah,” Chuuya huffed, eyes never straying away from the black coated figure slowly disappearing into the trees.“But we can’t be certain that Q will listen to Nakajima. That brat was never stable to begin with. After this, his mental state will only get worse.”
“No, Q will listen,” Dazai said with certainty. “After all, Atsushi-kun is the one who took their hands. For Q who has never experienced human warmth, once they have gotten a taste, they will be too afraid to ever let go.”
“You’re a piece of shit as usual,” Chuuya stated flatly. Despite what he said, he couldn’t deny the efficiency of his lover’s manipulative methods. If Q could be controlled, then their Ability would become a great asset to the Port Mafia.
“Human life is filled with many pure, happy, serene examples of insincerity, truly splendid of their kind-of people deceiving one another without any wounds being inflicted, of people who seem unaware even that they are deceiving one another!” The brunet spoke with much exaggeration on the other side, as if he was performing in some sort of play.
“Oh?” Chuuya raised a fine brow. His deep, husky voice carried a hint of threat. “Are you including me in that?”
“Of course not, Chuuya!” Dazai’s tone immediately did a one-eighty. “For my love for you will always be true!”
Chuuya snorted quietly to himself before looking back down at the empty field. The White Reaper of the Port Mafia was long gone by now.
“I told you, didn’t I?” Dazai’s voice whispered gently by his ears, losing all its playfulness. “That once you’ve experienced the warmth of another human being, you will never be able to let go.”
“Then you better hold onto it tightly, you shitty boss,” Chuuya shot down like a black and crimson arrow, piercing through the cottage and creating a massive explosion.
“Cause I ain’t gonna let go.”
“It’s really coming down
” Iida muttered, gazing up at the sky.
The class stood under a building, watching the rain come down so hard that a thick layer of water vapor was covering the ground.
“How’s this possible? Isn’t there a barrier around here?” Ashido asked in confusion. She stretched out her hand and watched as the raindrops splashed into her palm, rapidly cooling the surface of her skin.
“Remember the breeze we felt before?” Yaoyorozu turned to her classmates. “Perhaps this barrier allows certain things to go through, like sunlight, rain and wind.”
“But how’s that possible?” Sero questioned. “I mean, I get that they got higher technology and all, but is something like that even possible?”
“It’s been ten minutes already,” Uraraka mumbled with concern, looking around for any signs of the four that had left. “You guys don’t think anything happened
do you?”
“I’m sure they’re fine!” Kirishima said in an attempt to cheer her along with the rest of the class up.
“We still have five more minutes,” Iida pointed out, glancing down at his phone.
The rain continued to pour down.
They waited for the time to slowly pass.
And then, five minutes was up.
They all looked around, yet there were still no signs of Midoriya, Shouji, Hagakure and Jirou. They checked their phones, but none of them had received any calls from their friends. During this time, they’ve repeatedly tried to call their friends, knowing it’ll be safe as their phones were muted.
Unfortunately, none of their calls got through.
“It can’t be that something happened
can it?” Koda asked nervously.
“Or maybe they just went too far and are coming back?” Sato guessed.
“Either way, fifteen minutes are up, we should call.” Todoroki looked towards Iida.
“Yeah
” Iida nodded and clicked on the contact for Kunikida.
They all knew how much they would be yelled at, but they were prepared for it the moment they agreed to let Midoriya, Hagakure, Shouji and Jirou go.
Iida turned the phone on speaker so that everyone could listen in.
The ringing sound of the phone began and they all waited nervously for the person on the other end to pick up.
It didn’t take long for their calls to get through. On the third ring, Kunikida picked it up.
“Yes?” His voice came from the other end.
“Kunikida-san,” Iida bent his spine and bowed a perfect ninety degree despite the other not being able to see it. “We’re sorry! Even though you told us not to, we decided to follow that boy!”
“We’re sorry! We’ll accept any punishment!” Yaoyorozu followed.
Everyone was about to start apologizing, but were interrupted by Kunikida’s sharp voice. Although their interactions had been short, the students all had a pretty good grasp on Kunikida’s personality and were all expecting the blond to start yelling at them.
However, he didn’t. Instead, he was speaking in a very calm and collected voice, “Who went? Since you’re calling me, I assume you weren’t part of the group that went.”
“Midoriya-kun, Jirou-kun, Hagakure-kun and Shouji-kun,” Iida replied, swallowing hard. The calmness in Kunikida’s voice made them more nervous than if the blond had screamed.
“Will they use their Quirks?”
“Pardon?”
“Do you think they will use their Quirks?” Kunikida repeated more firmly.
“No, I don’t think they will,” Yaoyorozu replied for Iida, stepping closer so her voice could be heard through the loud pattering sound of the rain.
“Then listen closely,” Kunikida instructed. “From now on, no matter what happens, do not use your Quirk under any circumstances. Even when you think you’ll die, don’t use your Quirk. Do you understand?”
“What do you mean?” Uraraka asked worriedly. All of them could pick up something really off with Kunikida’s attitude.
“Just stay where you are and wait for me. Even if someone were to attack you, you can’t use your Quirk!” With that, the call was cut off again.
Class 1-A all shared a look.
Even if someone were to attack them?!
“What the fuck is going on?” Bakugou muttered, sharp eyes narrowing into the distance covered by the rain and fog.
◹◣◄◀◹◣◄◀◹◣◄◀◹◣◄
What was going on?
What happened?
Why did it become like this?
“Jirou-san, hang in there!!”
The hands gripping onto the make-shift bandages made from Shouji’s shirt were hastily working to wrap up the hole in the girl’s stomach. Midoriya tried to recall the first aid lessons they’ve had back in U.A, but it was no use. They don’t have anything that can clean the wound or stop the blood flow.
All Midoriya could do was tighten the bandages, apply pressure and hope that could somewhat slow the blood flow.
“I-I’m
ok
!” Jirou tried to smile, but was failing miserably. Her lips were pale and there were even tears threatening to fall from her eyes. Even with the rain constantly washing over them, they could all tell how badly she was sweating.
“This isn’t good
we have to find a hospital.” Shouji said, noting how badly Jirou was shaking in his arms.
“Guys! We have to go now!” Hagakure half screamed, half whispered.
Thanks to the rain, Midoriya could make out where the invisible girl was from the water running down her body, shaping her outline.
She was frantically running towards them after being on the lookout from the alleyway entrance.
Neither Midoriya or Shouji needed to ask what happened, as the next thing they know, the sound of gunfire echoed into their ears.
They were instantly on the move once more, running away from the battlefield they knew were taking place. The rain was a blessing in disguise, for that if it wasn’t raining so hard, the people out in the street would have caught their frantic footsteps.
As Midoriya ran, he recalled everything that had happened since they came in here.
They came here to follow Kyuusaku and that strange man, yet before they were able to find where they went, they found the corpses first.
The corpses were everywhere. On the street, in the darkness of the alleyways, and they even spotted a dead body hanging from the roof!
And all of these dead people were dressed the same—white cloaks with goggles covering half of their faces.
Why were there so many people dead?
What in the world happened?
They found the answer not long after when static seemed to cover everything—including the air they were breathing. If Midoriya had to come up with a way to describe it, it was like being inside a thundercloud. All the hairs on their bodies straightened at the intense static in the air before they were thrown into total darkness.
This darkness was the switch that started everything.
As soon as a veil of darkness covered their eyes, the sounds of gunfire and explosions echoed into the night, followed by the screams of people coming from all around them.
It was as if they had fallen into a nightmare without realizing they had fallen asleep.
Before they were even able to comprehend what was happening, a loud bang—one that sounded much closer to them than the rest—snapped them back to reality. Along with the sound was Jirou’s pained cry and her body falling forward.
At that moment, all their training from U.A came back to them. They stopped thinking all together and acted on instincts.
The sudden darkness left the three of them blinded, unable to see anything further than half a meter. However, all of them were able to remember the narrow alleyway just a bit behind them, since they came out from there. Without the need to communicate, they turned at the same time, grabbing Jirou and ducking inside just as repetitive loud bangs came from the distance.
They backtracked their steps, yet it was as if all the evil were waiting for the darkness to come just so they could strike. In just a matter of minutes, the entire place was like a warzone.
People dressed in black and white were fighting one another, all of them armed with guns, bazookas and all sorts of ranged weapons.
There were so many bodies falling onto the pavement and dying that the white mist from the rain was slowly turning red.
This wasn’t just a simple battle anymore.
It was a massacre.
“Why?” Hagakure’s voice was unsteady as she gasped for breath. “We’ve been running all this time and we’re not getting out at all! But we’ve been running in the same direction, it doesn’t make any sense!”
The three of them managed to break into one of the empty warehouses. They hid behind large stacks of crates and listened to the endless gunfire and screams outside.
Midoriya was panting as well. He thought over all the roads they had taken and Hagakure was right. Even if they were thrown off from the attacks, they were heading towards the general direction of where they came from. They all remembered clearly
so how could they still be stuck here?
It only took them ten minutes to come here, yet it’s been nearly twenty minutes and they weren’t seeing the exit.
“Something isn’t right.” Midoriya said. “This place
everything—” he cut off when an explosion shook the warehouse they were hiding in, causing some dust gathered on the roof to fall over them.
“How’s Jirou-san?” Midoriya asked, changing the topic and looking towards Jirou cradled in Shouji’s arms.
“She’s just fainted,” Shouji told him when he noticed the worried look on the other’s face. “Although it slowed a bit, she’s still losing blood. We have to find help soon.”
“Yeah
” Midoriya agreed. He pulled out his phone, but he still couldn’t turn it on. “Shouji-kun, Hagakure-san, are your phones still not working?”
“No, I can’t turn it on at all!” Hagakure said frustratedly, showing them the black screen on her phone.
“Same here.” Shouji sighed.
Whatever caused all the lights to go out had turned off their phones as well.
Midoriya was certain that it was the work of an Ability user. It was the only explanation for the weird static around them and the lighting that came down all at once.
Even idiots would know by now that they had stumbled into a battlefield between two groups.
“Shouji-kun, Hagakure-san!” Midoriya said, standing as his friends turned to him. “If after a while we still can’t find a way out
I will use my Quirk.”
“Midoriya-kun,” Shouji spoke up, “that’s—”
“I know,” Midoriya said gravely, looking over to Jirou whose face was as white as chalk. “This is just the worst case scenario. If we can’t get back to the others—or even get out of here—Jirou-san will be in danger.”
The other two didn’t say anything to that, as they too knew it was true. Jirou’s blood hasn’t stopped flowing out. At this rate—
BAM
The three immediately quieted down. They all held their breaths and listened to the door to the warehouse being knocked down. The heavy metal smashed onto the concrete, creating a deafening sound that made them shook.
“Look what we have here~” A voice sang from the other side of the warehouse. It was the voice of a woman. “Four wet mice hiding in a little corner. Since when did the Port Mafia become so pathetic?”
The Port Mafia?
Midoriya, Hagakure and Shouji shared looks of shock.
How did these people find out where they were?
Midoriya’s eyes landed on his own body and realized how soaked he was—how soaked they all were. There were no doubts they left footprints when they came in, but the voice specifically said four, not three.
Even if they left footprints, the most will only be three pairs, so how
“Death to the Port Mafia!” the woman shouted, not even giving them time to react as guns aimed specifically in their direction started rapid firing.
They all ducked upon the sound of wooden crates being blasted apart one after another. Under the intense gunfire, they could even hear the woman’s crazed laugh. Some of the crates hung on longer than the others due to the different materials that were inside, but sooner or later they were blasted apart by the power of the bullets.
It won’t take long before all four of them get blasted with holes.
“Where’s that spirit of yours now, you dirty sewer rats! You snuck up on us and cornered us before, how does it feel to have that returned to you, huh?!”
“Shouji-kun, Hagakure-san!” Midoriya shouted to his companions through the loud bangs resonating through the warehouse. He grabbed onto both of them, then began looking around to find a way out.
The front entrance was out of the question.
Even if he could move fast enough, there was no guarantee he could dodge the bullets, especially when the entrance was already blocked. So that left him only one option.
He will kick down the wall behind them and leave through there.
Midoriya gritted his teeth. He still remembered his teachers and Kunikida’s warning of not using his Quirk. He knew it could be dangerous
but at this rate, Jirou, Hagakure and Shouji will
!
Midoriya froze.
He stared at the wall he had been glaring at intensely, then slowly to Shouji and Hagakure. There was an equal amount of confusion and wariness on their faces.
The bullets had stopped shooting and the air had become strangely quiet.
Even the woman’s voice was gone. If it wasn’t for the fact that they can still move, and the sound of rain hitting the rooftop, they would have thought time stopped or something.
Midoriya only felt a pat on his shoulder before a pair of shoes tiptoed away. The invisible girl had gone off to investigate. He wanted to call out to stop her seeing how there was some way the enemies were able to see them, but the girl had already run off.
The two boys waited nervously, worried for their classmate’s safety. Thankfully, Hagakure didn’t go out for too long. Though when she came back, both of them could tell how frantic she was from her shoes that were jumping up and down.
She didn’t speak and instead tugged on Midoriya to follow her.
Midoriya did. He carefully moved around the crates and when he peeked out, his eyes widened at what he was seeing. Half of the warehouse was ruined and the floors covered with splinters from the crates that were destroyed.
But most importantly, lying at the entrances were five corpses.
Like many other corpses they had seen, these people were all dressed in white. They were lying face down within a puddle of blood that was expanding across the dusty floor, dying their white clothes in red and their weapons lying not far from them.
Midoriya felt goosebumps crawling over his skin. He looked around the warehouse, but couldn’t see anything or anyone that could have killed them.
They waited for a while, yet there was still nothing. It was possible that this was a trap
or it could be that whoever that killed these people had already left. Midoriya was leaning more towards the former. These people were obviously shooting at them, so there was no way whoever that killed these people wouldn’t know they were here.
After some hesitation, Miodirya decided to take a bet.
“Midoriya-kun!” Hagakure hissed, but the boy gave her a slight wave to tell her that it was alright.
He slipped out and walked along the wall carefully while constantly on the look for anything that may pop out and attack him.
There wasn’t any attack even after he made it to the bodies.
He looked around and slowly crouched down to the nearest cloaked person. Carefully, he pulled off the person’s hood, releasing a river or raven black hair that scattered around the body. Swallowing, Midoriya grabbed the headgear around the corpse’s head and pulled.
As he did so, the head was lifted, allowing Midoryia to see the face that belonged to a woman. Startled, he tugged too hard and swallowed the urge to scream when the woman’s head came right off!
No, it wasn’t off yet, but it was close! The woman’s head was bent ninety degrees from the pull on her goggles and twisted around so that her face was in full view.
Midoriya let go of the headgear and the head fell back onto the ground in a quiet thump. He slapped his hand over his mouth. His stomach turned and he had to use all of his will power just to stop the content inside from rushing up his throat.
He tried to think back to his lessons with Ranpo. He tried to convince himself that it was just like that time...but he couldn’t.
This wasn’t the same as that time, or even the bodies they had come across on their way here.
These people were just alive!
They were just talking and attacking them not seconds ago. These bodies were still warm with blood still flowing on the ground.
Midoriya took a couple of deep breaths before he glanced back to the head. He forced his wavering gaze back to the neck that was still attached by a nail’s length of flesh. Green eyes darted to the other bodies lying in similar fashion as this woman.
Now he knew how they died. They all had their throats slit by something extremely sharp.
And to do that, the attacker had to be at close range.
He would have started shaking if he already wasn’t at the thought of someone watching their moves right now. Whoever killed these people had done it swiftly, not even giving them the time to react.
A name instantly surfaced onto Midoriya’s mind.
The Port Mafia.
According to what the woman had said not long ago, this fight was between them and the Port Mafia.
Whoever had killed these people was part of the Port Mafia and most likely the one tasked to watch over them.
Now that Midoriya had a lead, everything else just naturally fell into place.
“ Absolutely no Quirks are to be used. As long as you do not use your Quirks, you will be in no danger. Please keep that in mind.”
The principal’s voice rang inside his head.
As long as they don’t use their Quirks, they won’t be in any danger.
Midoriya felt a chill crept down his spine at the horrifying thought that came to him. He unconsciously reached out and touched his throat. If he had used his Quirk, then the one lying in a pool of blood would have been him.
Midoriya was aware of this
he had been aware of this since the beginning, yet he didn’t register the meaning behind it until he was staring at the fresh bodies by his feet.
This place
everything happening right now
this was the real Yokohama.
As long as they don’t use their Quirks, they will be safe.
If he looked at it from another point of view, then that also means that as long as they don’t use their Quirks, the Port Mafia will protect them.
No
if the Port Mafia was protecting them, then what about Jirou?
Midoriya decided to think about these later. Now was not the time.
Taking a couple of deep breaths, he reached out to grab the woman’s headgear again. The woman was staring back at him with those wide, unblinking eyes that had already gone dry from the lack of tears.
The green-haired boy pressed his other hand onto the head, fighting back the nausea and pressed the head down so he could rip the headgear off. Clutching the goggles in his hand, he ran back to Shouji and Hagakure. Both of them were looking at him nervously.
“Midoriya—”
Before Shouji could finish, Midoriya doubled down and began vomiting.
“Midoriya-kun!” Hagakure was instantly at his side, one hand holding his shoulder while the other rubbing his back as he threw up what little he had inside his stomach. Even now, Midoriya could remember the feeling of the woman’s head under his palm...how warm it still felt.
“Midoriya-kun, are you alright?” Shouji asked with worries laced in his voice.
“I’m fine,” Midoriya reassured them after he emptied everything out. He used his sleeve to wipe his lips before trying to put the headgear on.
“They were able to see where we are and how many of us are there. If I’m right, then these goggles—” Midoriya stopped speaking the moment he got the goggles over his eyes. It was just like he thought!
He could see!
It was as if everything in the world had become black and consisted of only white lines. He could see the white lines of the crates around them and even through it to stare at the bodies lying at the entrances. The only downside was that all he could see were the basic forms and outlines of everything. This made it hard for him to gauge the distance without taking these goggles off to look at what it was like in reality.
With these goggles, Midoriya began looking all around them. He looked through the walls around the factories and to the outside.
Nothing.
There was no one around.
Did the person watching over them leave?
Midoriya wanted to see further, but realized that fifteen meters was as far as these goggles could see. Anything beyond that was just darkness.
He quickly told his two classmates of this, as well as his guess of who it was that killed those people off.
As surprised as Hagakure and Shouji were, they both agreed on two things, and it was that they couldn’t bet on the Port Mafia saving them. If the Port Mafia planned on saving them, then they would have stepped out to help Jirou, not leave them on their own like this. They can only rely on themselves to save Jirou.
Now that they knew these goggles exist, hiding inside buildings was the worst possible option. There was no guarantee that no more of those white cloaked people would come. They’ll just be sitting ducks here.
And so, the three ran out of the warehouse.
None of them noticed the shadowy figure standing on the beam high up in the ceiling. The figure ran along the beam that was only ten inches wide and with a flip, they slipped out of the open window.
With both hands grasping onto the windowsill, the figure gave a simple push and their feet landed soundlessly on the roof.
In the heavy rain, the figure ran along the edge of the roof, tailing the kids closely.
Stormy gray eyes were locked on the green haired boy with goggles running at the very front. Whenever they stopped or whenever that boy turned, the figure would skillfully move so that they were out of the boy’s range of sight.
And then, just as the figure leaped over another roof, a deafening roar cracked down like thunder, causing the kids and the figure to freeze.
“W-what was that?!” Hagakure yelped, looking around for whatever that made that sound.
“Whatever it is, we have to go now!” Shouji shouted urgently, and Midoriya agreed.
Whatever that was, it didn’t sound anything close to a human. It sounded more like a wild beast of some sort.
Before they could resume running, screams—this time human—came from right behind them.
The three of them turned around. Hagakure and Shouji couldn’t see far due to the darkness and downpour, but Midoriya could. He gasped at the sight of a white outlined figure, running towards them and into the range of his goggles.
“There’s a person!” Midoriya alerted his classmates. He took a step back, eyes already darting around for an escape route when from the corner of his eye, he saw a weird blur.
“Eh?” Midoriya stared down the street, where the silhouette of the person was. The person that had been running was now on the ground—unmoving.
“Midoriya-kun?” Hagakure called, but Midoriya could barely hear her.
He stared at the figure. The outline where the head should have been was gone. The person on the ground was missing their head.
What exactly happened just now?
There were more screams and explosions. Midoriya didn’t know if it was due to the rain muffling some of the sound, but he felt like these sounds were coming from all around them—from all directions.
He tried to see what was going on, but the goggles didn’t allow him to see far enough.
“Midoriya-kun, whatïżœïżœs going on?” Shouji gasped.
“Midoriya-kun? Midoriya-kun!” Hakugare was shaking Midoriya when he still didn’t respond.
“I—” Midoriya was about to open his mouth when the screaming and gunfire disappeared, leaving behind an eerie silence.
The three of them stood within the rain.
They stood back to each other, cautiously looking around for any sign of danger. They didn’t know if it was due to the cold droplets showering over them, but all of their hands were slightly shaking.
They waited and waited, but nothing happened.
The rain continued to come down and other than that, they didn’t hear anything anymore.
The three of them gradually relaxed from their tense posture.
Shouji and Hagakure turned to Midoriya, and it was at that moment that a voice spoke.
“What are you doing here?”
The voice came from behind them, from the spot where Shouji and Hagakure were watching out for just a second ago.
They whirled around and Midoriya’s eyes that were hidden behind the goggles widened at the sight of what was standing in front of him.
Sweat broke out of his skin at the sight of a gigantic beast towering over the three of them. Midoriya stared at the gigantic tiger that was illuminating with faint white light. Unlike the simple outlines of humans, the beast before him was shown in extreme detail.
Midoriya stared at the white and black coat, then to those golden eyes locked on him.
And then, Midoriya’s vision shattered. The lens fell apart little by little until the entire headgear fell from his head. The green haired youth blinked.
The beast he was seeing was gone, and in its place stood a familiar young man with unevenly cut white hair. It was the same man they had been trying to follow—the one who took Kyuusaku!
“Those aren’t something you should wear.” The man said with furrowed brows, eyes trailing to the remains of the goggles.
Midoriya looked down by reflex, only to stop upon seeing something lying quietly beside the man’s feet.
His mouth fell open, but no sound came out of his throat. Despite the rain constantly pouring into his eyes, he couldn’t even find it in himself to blink.
He stared at the round object with reddish-brown hair growing out of it.
That was a head.
A human head.
It wasn’t just that. Although he couldn’t tell due to the black coat, the water around the man’s feet was being dyed red. It was the blood being washed off the man’s body by the rain.
Midoriya wasn’t the only one who noticed. Hagakure and Shouji saw the head as well.
The three of them slowly backed away from this man, yet Midoriya couldn’t help the panic rising up inside him. While keeping the man within his sight, he was subtly searching for any signs of Kyuusaku.
“Leave this place,” the white-haired man said, golden eyes narrowing, “Otherwise—urgh!”
The black cloaked man suddenly let out a pained groan and hunched over. His hands clutched onto his head tightly as if he were suffering from a migraine.
“W-what’s going on?” Hagakure whispered.
“Is he hurt?” Shouji held Jirou tighter and took another step back.
Midoriya watched the man’s every move.
The white-haired man let out another pained whine. He stumbled, swaying in his feet before a ring of blue light shot out of his body and circled around him.
Along with the man’s scream, a blue ring appeared, then another.
“What’s
” Midoriya stared at that ring of blue light. From this close up, he could see the tiny pixels that made up the ring—no, not pixels.
Those were tiny characters.
They were words.
Midoriya’s eyes rounded. He had seen this before. Back when Tanizaki Junichirou demonstrated his power, those green lights were also made up of tiny characters like this!
“It’s an Ability!” Midoriya shouted to his classmates.
“This way!” Shouji called while running away from the man. He headed towards the nearest alleyway behind them with Midoriya and Hagakure following suit.
Just as Midoriya took a couple of steps, he saw the white-haired man move from the corner of his eye. He whirled around and fell into a defensive position—only to be dumbfounded by the sight.
The man was still standing in the same place he had been. The rings around his body were gone and his right hand was lifted—stabbing into his left shoulder.
Midoriya could see the gloved finger sinking all the way down his knuckles with blood trickling down his arms and washed off by the rain.
“What—” Midoriya’s voice was drowned out when the man suddenly let out a roar.
It was that same, monstrous roar from before, coming from the lips of a human.
At the same time, they were suddenly bathed in blue light with the familiar static and electricity dancing through the rain.
When a droplet carrying that electricity hit Midoriya, he was jolted out of his thoughts and looked up to see a person in the brightening sky. And that person was falling towards them at a breakneck speed.
Midoriya watched as that white cloaked person extended their arms with blue electricity shrouding their body.
The white-haired man let out another roar before he crouched low. Midoriya could almost hear the sound of his muscles tightening up before he kicked off, shooting into the air with a force so strong that the ground around him caved in.
Had Midoriya not braced himself, he would have been thrown back from the gust of wind slamming into him seconds after the man shot off. The speed and power the man displayed was so similar to One for All that Midoriya couldn’t help but stare.
When he looked up towards the sky, he saw the white-haired man leaping up a building on all four like a graceful cat—leaving deep claw marks into the side of the building before he kicked off, shooting past the building he was scaling and towards the sky where that white figure was.
The moment the white and black figures clashed, there was a burst of blue light, blinding Midoriya and forcing him to look away. From high above, he could hear the roaring sound of thunder mixed together with the roar of a beast.
“Midoriya-kun!”
Midoirya hurriedly ran into the alleyway where Shouji and Hagakure were waiting.
“Come on, let’s go!” Hagakure shouted, taking the lead.
But where would they go?
They knew that aimlessly running around won’t help them at all, but other than that, what can they do?
Think—Midoriya told himself, eyes trailing to Jirou in Shouji’s arms.
There had to be a way out of this situation.
On top of that, he was also concerned about Kyuusaku’s whereabouts. Especially after seeing that man covered in blood, there was no way Midoriya could turn a blind eye to the boy’s situation. It wasn’t just something as simple as an unhealthy relationship anymore.
Think.
Think.
Think.
There had to be a way.
There was always a way!
A loud explosive sound made the three of them skid to a stop. From the narrow exit of the alley, a burst of black mist covered the street, making them unable to see anything beyond it.
“What’s that?” Shouji muttered, squinting his eyes in an attempt to get a clearer look.
It was at this moment that something blue and white flew down from the sky, smashing into the building next to them. The entire building shook, causing pieces of the wall and bricks to fall into the narrow path the three of them were in.
“We have to go back!” Midoriya shouted. He didn’t know what that black mass in front of them was, but he knew it wasn’t anything good. They need to get out of here and—
“Kyaaa!”
“Hagakure-san?” Midoriya gasped, startled by the other’s scream. Fearing something happened to her, the green-haired boy looked around the alley. He looked at the ground, searching for her shoes only to find them missing.
“Hagakure-san!!” Midoriya’s heart skipped a beat. Shouji was in the same situation as he too searched for their missing classmate.
“Hagakure—”
“Hey!” A voice called out to them, The voice belonged to a female, but it wasn’t Hagakure’s voice.
Midoriya and Shouji turned around to see the door near the exit of the alley opened. From the doorway, they saw a young girl who couldn’t be older than twelve with long blond hair and bright blue eyes.
She looked annoyed while waving a hand at them.
“Hurry up and get in! Do you want to die?” She snapped impatiently.
Midoriya and Shouji didn’t know what was going on, but they knew that this girl—whoever she was—was helping them. They ran forward, rushing into the building before the girl slammed the door close.
“Midoriya-kun, Shouji-kun!” Hagakure quickly ran up to her classmates.
“Come on, we have to get down!” The little blonde girl shouted just as the building they were in shook.
Midoriya looked out the window and saw nothing but darkness beyond it despite the continuous thundering noise outside.
The three of them immediately followed the little girl who led them down another staircase leading towards the basement.
Hagakure went in first, followed by Shouji and then Midoriya.
However, just as Midoriya was about to walk inside, he heard shattering sounds from above.  Something gripped his arm, pulling him into the room before the door closed with a loud slam.
And then, the shattering sound from above grew into loud crashing noises.
“My, that was a close one!”
Midoriya turned to the person that had pulled him in at the last second.
He was a tall and skinny man with raven hair and stubble around his chin—proof of the lack of shaving.
“Are you alright, boy?” the man asked with a gentle look on his face.
“Ah, yes, thank you!” Midoriya hurriedly thanked the man. He opened his mouth, about to ask who the man was when the blonde girl from before kicked the man in the shin, causing him to crumble onto the ground in pain.
All three U.A students jumped in surprise at the girl’s action. No matter how they looked at this sweet doll-like girl, she didn’t seem like the type to hit people out of the blue like that!
“So mean, Elise-chan!!” the man whined with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
“Hmph!” The girl—Elise, huffed with her cheeks puffed out. “Stupid Rintarou! Because of you, I got wet!”
“I’m sorry Elise-chan! I’ll buy you plenty of new dresses tomorrow, ok?” the man asked, trying to butter up to the little girl who refused to look at him.
“I want strawberry cake!”
“Alright, we’ll get cake together with the dresses!”
“Umm
?” Shouji spoke up and the man’s attention turned towards him.
That playful look on his face became serious the moment his eyes landed on Jirou.
“It seems your companion needs treatment,” he said while reaching into his pocket, pulling out a pair of white rubber gloves. “Set her down on that table over there, I will take a look at her.”
“Excuse me?” Hagakure asked as politely as she could. “You are
?”
“I’m just a middle-age doctor managing a small clinic,” the man replied with a smile.
