8. Seo Fernandez

Gual ist in erster Linie ein Solotänzer, der sich für die Show mit Eddy Mendoza zusammengetan und die Gruppe "Sonde Akokan" gegründet hat, die andere kubanische Tänzer/Künstler zusammenbringt und Qualität und Innovation bringt. SHILEKUN ILE : PODEROSA ESPIRITUALIDAD QUE VIVE EN LA PUERTA DE NUESTRA CASA.

Existe una espiritualidad,y no es un orisha, que reside en la puerta de nuestras casas; por donde entramos y salimos cada dia, ingnorandola mucho de nosotros, esa espiritualidad es Shilekun Ile.

Nuestros ancestros lo bautizaron a esta espiritualidad usando la palabra ilekun (yoruba:puerta) asociado con silekun ( o si lekun) que significa"el que abre las puertas" y este fue el nombre dado de silekun ile. Posteriormente en la diaspora afrocubana y con los cambios linguisticos en el tiempo llego a nosotros como lo conocemos hoy en dia: "shilekun ile", osea 'El que abre las puertas de nuestra casa".

Shilekun Ile es una espiritualidad muy poderosa, que cuando lo atiendes con regularidad y de akokan (con el corazon) llega a manifestarse con una fuerza que lo puedes sentir muy fuerte.

Ese poder fue dado por Olodumare para servir de equilibrio como balanza entre su casa y el exterior ; como balanza entre Elegua y Eshu; Pues asi como Elegua abre los caminos, Shilekun Ile abre las puertas de nuestro Ile (casa) para que llegue todo lo bueno a nuestra casa y cierra puertas para loque no conviene que llegue.

De que sirve que hagamos obras para el progreso de nuestra casa sino atendemos propiamente a Shilekun Ile. Shilekun Ile lo mira todo, lo oye todo y esta pendiente a todo, pero cuidado, porque como dice el refran: Honor quien honor merece" y sino lo atendemos porque El se va a preocupar por servirnos si lo tratamos con indiferencia, y no le damos su lugar que ocupa en nuestra casa.

Hermanos religiosos, mayores y menores, hagamos reflexion y empecemos a atenderlo. He aqui agunos comentarios que quizas puedan ser utiles: A Shilekun Ile se atiende y ofrenda en el mismo lugar donde vive: en la puerta. Su bebida favorita es oti hecho a base de maiz fermentado, y sino lo consigue ginebra. Se le llama , a diferencia de Elegua que se dan tres toque en el piso; a Shilekun Ile se llama con siete toques seguidos en el piso.Cuando yo toco siete veces llamandolo digo: "Shilekun Ile, Iwo ni kokoro timo fi n'silekun ,Ashe" (Shilekun Ile, Usted es la llave que yo uso para abrir las puertas, Ashe).

Some hits and misses, snippets and quips:

Meute- more house bangers than techno, the 11- piece Hamburg brass band stormed the barricades.

Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino- thumping pizzica, pumping accordions, rollicking chants and wriggling violins plus mysterious dancer with a scarf and a rope…. impressive.

Moon Hooch- exhausted and exhausting punk jazz Broolynite trio with Rollins on lead horn-squonking to the bridge.

Szun Waves- Absorbing cosmology live in a stunning set-call Brian Cox.

Les Filles De Illighadad- Delicate and tense, urged on by the crowd but the ground-breaking Touareg trio toiled. Sacking the gourd player live on stage added to the bitter sweetness.

Ustad Saami- Defiantly hushed and demanding concentration, his stretched surti chants evaporated the rants of slam poets on a neighbouring stage with quiet, mesmeric insistence.

Rura- deep melodies and intriguing relationships lifted this trad foursome onto a level above the usual jig gymnastics.

Vaudou Game- Red-flared, Cuban heeled, Togan-French funk on fire with a pulse squeezing rhythm section….the one.

Macha Y El Bloque Depresivo- Natural rootsy passion from the Chilean crooner and band. Port city songs rough cut with honesty.

Dakhabrakha- music or an installation? Under the tall hats maybe money?

Jungle by Night- James Last dance by numbers for the Saturday night crowd- The ultimate party vol.7.

The Breath- Our own Gillian Welch and David Rawlings- stripped down to duo Rioghnach Connolly’s vocal majesty and Stuart McCallum’s mercurial guitarscapes sailed together. Banter, blarney and brilliance.

Cymande- So warm, tender and heartfelt- forty years on their effortless soul funk opened its arms and the audience fell in. Respect.

Orquesta Akokan- High energy mambo big band virtuosity with charisma up front. Something got lost on the rollercoaster ride….

Orbital- landed somewhere in a field in Wiltshire amongst the glow sticks and beanie hats….rave on.
