Tetsuo’s never heard of this man (or dog?) in his life

hghfhsj copy and pasting an old ramble about tetsuo in the akira manga that i wrote cause i think it fucks

manga tetsuo sucks in so many ways

like he’s a detestable human being and he’s scum

but the way he carries himself is so interesting, he has swagger and confidence, he treats himself so much like a god and i find that compelling, there’s so much insecurity to him and i love how in the manga he kinda patches that up, it’s so interesting. seeing his early volume 1 behavior as opposed to volume 5 where he’s peak fucked up bastard

and i think his facade of confidence and swagger is what makes him my favorite of the tetsuos, his moral compass points so far south that he just doesn’t acknowledge anything he does, and so many of the stunts he pulls are just displays of power.

he’s drawn and framed in a way the exemplifies this so well so when we finally see him crack it’s so much more impactful than the film

especially the 4th image, that one makes me so ill, his calloused response to the women he assaulted and subsequently killed is nauseating

he puts up this facade and does so many unspeakable things that we the audience forget there’s a traumatized 15 year old in there. there’s so many long drawn out displays of his coldness that going back to early volume and seeing him is shocking
