Being Aki's Younger Sister
Both you and Aki lost everything
You only had each other left
Because of that, he became overprotective over you
You're his only family left, and he will do whatever it takes to keep you safe
Aki refuses to let you become a devil hunter
He wants you to have a normal life
You go to school, and he makes sure that you always focus on your grades so you can have a good life when you grow up
He doesn't talk about his job around you, wanting to keep you away from the life he has
He knows it's dangerous, and he wants to keep you sheltered from it
When Denji and power move in, he warns them not to bother you
Of course, they don't listen
Power likes you and wants to be your friend
Denji sort of has a crush on you
And of course, Aki notices this
He doesn't like it since he's a Devil Hunter
He tells him not to get romantically involved with you for your own sake
He comes off as harsh, but he just wants what's best for you
Aki would do anything to keep you safe

i love your meta posts about makima! what do you think of himeno?
she's easily one of my favourite early csm characters, partly because i so love the archetype of the cool cynical "older sister" with a lazy sleaze persona in her private life who's extremely serious and competent on the job! it's a necessary pity that her character had to die so soon, but i love the depth her character was given despite how few chapters she had, and her role as the first big-deal permanent death really echoes throughout the narrative and especially in aki's story.
i know the Hot Fandom Take these days is to call her a groomer and compare her to makima, and while i can see where that comes from (especially to an anime-only) i don't necessarily think of her like that — leaving aside that makima's actions are much more horrific, i don't think of her relationship with aki as grooming, but rather as an average "senpai-kouhai" relationship (aki was at least 18 when he joined public security, and himeno couldn't have been more than a few years older); her whole deal with denji is a fucked up mess, but ultimately i think of it as a misato-kissing-shinji moment or an extremely drunken mishap moreso than a predator cornering her prey, though again i can see why people would interpret it like that (and it goes without saying that i am not trying to justify her actions here, no matter how you read them).
#csm#grooming tw#and obviously a huge chunk of people calling her a groomer and stuff are either aki x readers or fujoshis - which i mean you do you sister!#but some of them are definitely a bit biased in wanting to make himeno as morally irredeemable as possible. not all of them of course

I Choose Her | Epilogue
Hermione Granger x Slytherin Fem!Reader
Summary: You are the daughter of two known death eaters from one of the oldest and richest families in the wizarding world. Are you truly prepared to give up everything you know for Hermione Granger?
Pairing: Hermione x Reader
Wordcount: 2.4k
Warnings: time jump, smut, porn very little plot, draco & y/n , kid fic coded, y/n & hermione endgame obv
Note: Hi, so this is an epilogue in theory but i think what it ended up being is just an open ended conclusion. Which doesn't sound promising, but it also just means that there will more for me to expand on (for side chapters) so it's exciting! The main series is now concluded but i am nowhere near done with writing Hermione x Y/n within this particular universe that I've cultivated. Long story short: more to come!
Eitherway, hope you enjoy this one ;)

Hermione turns towards the commotion in the living room, standing from her seat abruptly with her voice raised.
“Hugo! Give Scorpius a turn or I will shut that entire thing off, this is my final warning.” She asserts as the children bickered amongst themselves– fighting over the Playstation controller.
“Yes mother..” Your son mumbles, begrudgingly passing the controller over to his friend.
You lift the rim of the mug you are clutching up to your lips, masking your amusement at the display– your son has never taken to the idea of sharing; even with his own sister.
As anticipated, your attempt proves fruitless when you are caught on the receiving end of Hermione's narrowed gaze.
“Don't you dare laugh, he takes after you.” Hermione remarks as she pokes at your stomach, and your expression instinctively contorts in mock offense.
You soon turn to Draco and his wife, who remain sat across from you.
“Do you hear the way she speaks to me?” You retaliate in jest, earning a light slap to the arm from Hermione.
Astoria does grace you with a laugh, whether forced or not, you accept it as a small triumph.
Draco remains impartial, quickly redirecting the conversation.
“I've never understood those things” He gestures to the game console, and then the television it is attached to.
“I mean, when Y/n and I were their age we actually spent time outside.” Draco adds and you can't contain a scoff.
“Right, and you tormented me.” You contend, not allowing your best friend the chance to rewrite history simply to impress his wife.
“Did not.” Draco denies regardless.
You feel Hermione’s hand glide across your shoulders, causing them to relax involuntarily. Soon her fingers are delicately toying with your ear. A habit she had picked up over the years– one constantly reassuring, in an odd way.
“You were a nightmare.” You insist, leaning back in your chair, and Draco possesses enough cheek to appear affronted.
“I was a delight.” He claims defensively. This time it is Hermione who scoffs, and you allow yourself a smirk of satisfaction.
It is now two against one.
Astoria chuckles once more, hiding a smile behind her hand as she glances between you and your wife.
“Darling, I do find that hard to believe.. you seem to forget that we went to the same school, and Hogwarts was never immune to gossip.” She coos, turning to her husband, and Draco redirects his attention to her.
“Oh, now you're ganging up on me too?” He accuses, and you watch as Astoria smooths her hand across Draco's chest, up to the collar of his shirt. Without saying much else, she kisses him, and that quickly puts an end to the debate at hand.
You clear your throat, shifting in your seat as the couple escalated in their displays of affection.
You turn to Hermione, and she gives you a similar look in return, eventually nuzzling her face into the crook of your neck, an effort to escape the discomfort.
“I would say it's time for dessert but it appears they've already started.” Your quip, a whisper only for Hermione's ears.
Your wife stifles her laughter against your shoulder, glacing at the couple again, who remain in a full lip lock, oblivious to the world around them.
“Do you think they'd notice if you and I just got up and left right now?” Hermione asks, and you grin. Feeling inspired and overcome with the want to feel her mouth against your own.
“Probably not,” You respond, now leaning in to kiss her. Lightly at first, but as your hand slips around her waist, Hermione’s mouth opens wider, inviting your tongue.
You pull an involuntary moan out of her, causing your own smile to form mid kiss. Hermione breathes in sharply at the realization, before feebly shoving you away with her palm against your chest.
She is flushed, her chest heaving. Even after all the years of marriage; you'll never tire from watching this gorgeous woman blush.
Hermione averts her gaze, as if overwhelmed by your stare, and your smile only widens.
“I'll go fetch the cake.” Your wife says suddenly, her hand falls from your shoulder as she rises from her seat.
You can only watch as she disappeared into the kitchen.
Your own heart, pounding.
Seventeen years since you first met, and yet your pull towards Hermione remained formidable; your bond, unbreakable.
Seventeen years.
Your smile remains as you go to take another large swig from your mug. Draco and his wife have since stopped kissing, now instead whispering in secrecy to each other.
You roll your eyes, beginning to forget the point of inviting them today.
“Boys, dessert!” You bark, easily capturing Scorpious and Hugo's attention.
Now your son and his friend race towards the dinner table, disovering something new to squabble about.
Soon, Hermione emerges from the kitchen, a large lemon cake in one hand a stack of plates in another.
You then turn around in your seat to address your daughter. She had been a few paces away, sitting quietly by the window. Her nose in her book, as she often is. “Darling, do you want any cake?”
“Yes, please.” Rose replies simply, without looking up.
Your daughter; truly every bit like her mother. In both temperament, and appearance. Blessed with Hermione's rich curly hair and her gentle eyes. She's assertive as much as she is kind.
Your heart soars everytime you look at her, yet you are also overcome with the urge to weep all the same, for reasons unbeknownst to you.
Perhaps it was the cost of unconditional love, the price every parent had to pay. An impending burden that you could only do so much to ignore.
The fact is your daughter will not remain pristine and unspoiled forever. Life frowns upon innocence, it is bound to be stripped away from her; a violent and inescapable fate.
Change is a torturous and ugly thing, it is a challenge everyone must endure, no matter what you try to tell yourself.
“What's wrong?” Hermione's concern pulls you out your thoughts, you feel her hand grasping your arm.
You force yourself to smile, shaking your head dismissively. Now aware of Draco and Astoria's quizzical eyes on you.
“Nothing, I was just thinking.” You assure, resuming your position next to her at the table.
═══════════════════════════════════════════
You let out a breath of relief as Hugo finally slips into a slumber in your arms. You gently lift him to lay your son on his bed properly, subsequently draping the covers over him.
Shutting the book in your hand, you set it down on his nightstand, wary not to make too much noise.
“Goodnight, sweet boy.” You utter quietly, threading your fingers through his hair before placing a tender kiss upon his forehead.
Your son remains asleep as you exit his bedroom and gently shut the door behind you.
You roll your shoulders as you start down the stairs, stifling a groan at the ache.
However, any feelings of discomfort dissipate once you catch sight of Hermione, standing by the sink, still busy with the dishes.
“Do you need my help?” You offer as you step through the kitchen, rolling up your sleeves in preparation.
Hermione throws you a quick glance before replying. “No, thank you, I'm almost done.” Your wife says as she rinses the final traces of soap off a plate before propping it onto the drying rack.
Your stare soon turns incredulous as you approach your wife.
“I don't understand– you'd get the dishes done twice as quickly if you used your wand.. you won't even have to stand by the sink to do that.”
You remark, now standing close enough to Hermione that you can smell the familiar and welcomed scent of her hair.
“I prefer to wash them the normal way, I suppose I'm just used to it.” She explains and you let out a huff.
You needed no more proof that your wife is indeed, muggle-born.
“So odd.” You tease in return, Hermione lets out a breathless chuckle as you wrap your arms around her torso.
Your breasts pressing up against her back as you embrace her tightly from behind.
You observed as Hermione washed all traces of dish soap off her hands before turning off the faucet.
“Is Hugo asleep?” Your wife asks, and you nod. You hear the subtle way her breath catches in her throat as you kiss her neck.
“He did put up a brave fight, but he's out.” You quip.
*
Hermione’s chuckle morphs into a proper gasp as you slipped your hand underneath her shirt, cupping her breast, her nipple quickly growing hard from your touch.
Your wife merely leans further into you, allowing you better access to her neck.
“I don't think I got the chance to tell you how gorgeous you looked today.. I liked the dress.” You admit, nipping lightly at the column of her throat.
Hermione lets out a satisfied hum, pressing her rear harder against your groin, as she reaches back, her hand finds the nape of your neck. “I had a feeling you'd enjoy it.”
“Well, I did. You always look beautiful.” You state, expertly kneading her other breast, drawing a breathless moan from your wife; one that drives you half-mad with need.
“Fuck, you're perfect.” You praise her again, lips still brushing against her neck.
You swiftly shift your hand lower, unlacing her pajama bottoms, she lets you do so, quietly, for a moment.
“Even now? Even after how much my body has changed from bearing our children?” Hermione asks.
Ever since the birth of your son, insecurity has polluted her– and you find it entirely unwarranted.
Hermione is flawless, she deserves to feel beautiful and you aim to remind her of it everyday.
“Especially now.” You persist, finally slipping your hand inside her underwear.
Hermione lets out a louder moan as you boldly palm her heat, feeling how wet she is already.
She whimpers as your finger prods at her entrance. Your wife grips a fistful of your hair, her other hand firmly on the edge of the sink to steady herself.
“The children–” Hermione pants, her voice strained with arousal. Her words of concern do not match the way she is grinding against your hand ever so slightly.
“–are sound asleep in their beds.” You assure, finally entering with another finger.
Hermione’s hips buck against your touch as you are now knuckle deep inside of her. Broken gasps of pleasure is all she can manage as you begin pumping, slowly, in and out.
Your wife lets loose an unrestrained moan as you curl your fingers. You watch as she bites her bottom lip in an attempt to conceal her sounds of pleasure.
You can't help but groan at the sight.
It is near agony– no one should ever be this enticing.
Time is unrelenting to some, and cruel to most. Yet it has been generous to her; your wife has truly only gotten more desirable with age.
“You're so intoxicating..” You allow your own desires to speak.
Then, you place a lingering peck on her cheek, simultaneously pulling another loud moan from Hermione before she guides you in for a kiss, one on the mouth, desperate and hungry.
You consume her gasps and whimpers as you continue pumping in and out of her at a steady, yet urgent, pace.
Eventually, your thumb finds her clit, you begin rubbing in a circular motion in tandem, and soon, Hermione can no longer kiss you properly.
She is reduced to mewls and pants. She removes her fingers from your hair, letting her arm fall to her side before harshly gripping the hem of your shirt.
In truth, your wife could just as well shred the fabric to pieces and you simply wouldn't care.
Hermione's fingers graze your abdomen, and it is only then you notice that it was her clumsy attempt to undress you, but her plans are soon destabilized as a wave of pleasure wrecks her body anew.
You are now forced to place a hand over her mouth as your wife begins to tremble. She is close. You could feel it in the way her cunt was clenching around your fingers, almost painfully so.
“Come.. come for me, beautiful.” You urge, your breath against her ear; that is all it took for Hermione to surrender herself to her climax.
As she moans against your hand, you find yourself taking in the way her chest heaved violently, her fingers digging into the counter till her knuckles turned a pale white– utterly vulnerable, and breathtaking, and she is all yours.
“My god, y/n–” Hermione curses once she has gained enough of her strength back.
Even so, your wife continues to rest some of her weight against you, and you are happy to provide her the support.
Hermione mewls into your kiss as you pull your fingers out of her. She watches through hooded eyes as you pull away so you could take your digits into your mouth, tasting her release.
Your wife turns around fully, resting her back against the counter as she continues to observe you. Her arousal, searing and visceral.
Desire shrouds the both of you, impairing all sense and judgment. It doesn't take long at all before Hermione is on you once more. As soon as you remove your fingers from your mouth, she replaces it with her tongue.
Hermione swallows your noises of pleasure as she finds the hem of your shirt once again, this time successfully pulling it over your head before discarding it, heedless and uncaring.
Her hands quickly find your breasts as she trails wet, languid kisses along your jaw and eventually your neck.
You are aroused beyond belief, and you can hardly think– you want to slip your fingers inside of your wife once more, you need to feel her, taste her. and you need it now.
As your mouths make contact once more, you prop your hand firmly underneath Hermione's thigh, lifting her in one swift motion, setting her on top of the kitchen counter.
Hermione lets you remove her shirt in record time, you fling it out of your grasp in a similarly incautious manner, not heeding where it lands before your mouth makes contact with her nipple.
You licked and sucked at it eagerly, with primal and unchecked want. A string of trembling moans from your wife urge you on, she gasps as you shift your attention to her other breast before just barely mustering enough to speak.
“No– wait, not here.” Hermione gasps, pulling your head back, her chest now wet and glistening from your saliva.
Before you can respond with something coherent, your wife kisses you again, open-mouthed and deep, but it ends far sooner than you'd like. Happily, her next words easily make up for it.
“Take me to bed.”

BAD NEWS | CHAPTER INDEX/PROLOGUE (Part 1-64)
-just when you thought you were over your humongous crush on your older brother’s best friend, geto suguru, you couldn’t be more dead wrong, and maybe there isn’t really anything holding you back from acting on it now that you’re all grown up…except satoru doesn’t like suguru for you because he knows his kind all too well: a huge ass playboy who breaks hearts like he changes socks. but you think. MAYBE you’ll be the exception...maybe not.
CHARACTERS: drummer!geto suguru x (fem/afab) reader x guitarist!sukuna | gojo satoru | itadori yuuji | kugisaki nobara | fushiguro megumi | sukuna | fushiguro toji | nanami kento | choso | tsukumo yuuki | shoko ieiri | utahime iori
GENRE: full-length smau + prose | band au, tats, piercings, the whole shebang | college au | stupid pining | aged-up characters | friends to lovers (?) | this is gonna have smutty stuff because why not?
TW/CW: strong/mature language | adult content so mdni on some parts; just skip them. you’re not missing much | mentions of alcohol, drugs | mentions of cheating, promiscuity, mild dubcon (consent >>>), etc. | again, god-awful pet names i’d cringe at if a 3d person says it | toxic behavior | will add more if something arises
AKI’S NOTES: I would like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who loved and supported “Thawing Ice Queen” as well as those who participated in the poll on which smau I’m going to write next. So, this is what won in said poll, and I hope it gets as much as love as TIQ if not more. Reblogs and likes are very much appreciated, and I actively respond to comments as well as Asks. Also, if you’re interested, I will include you in the tag list. Just message me through whatever avenue you’re most comfortable with. Happy reading!
ADDITIONAL NOTES: i will be using pics and other media which would fit situations and make the smau-ness of this piece a little more realistic and entertaining when i believe it’s appropriate/fitting to the plot (as i've done with TIQ). having said that, with regard to inclusivity, i just want to put it out there that they will not necessarily be aimed as the exact descriptions to fit a supposedly generic reader nor will they be representative of a specific race or color (even if you’re/the reader is gojo’s sister here). it’s all for the simple fact of media availability, for funsies and the fact that i don’t exclusively write in consideration of those aspects when using reader-insert characters unless i specify it. thank you for understanding.

by clicking read more you are agreeing to consume and read dark content.
In a society where the hierarchies of alphas, betas, and omegas define social standing and family legacy, adoption is a rarity. Families fiercely guard their bloodlines, refusing to weaken their position with the introduction of an outsider. Yet, in the case of the Miya family, exceptions were made when they saw you. Abandoning a helpless young girl you was never an for your future mother. You were too precious to be left behind.
From the moment your adoptive parents met you, it felt like a blessing. Your sparkling eyes and adorable smile captivated them in an instant. You, in all your little glory, were a true delight.
Neither you nor your new family can recall a time before you became part of their lives. The notion of your adoption was never mentioned, for it didn't matter. To you, they were simply your family, your pack. The protective embrace of the Miya family, renowned alphas, became your sanctuary. Under their care, the eventual reveal of your secondary gender was irrelevant. What mattered was the bond, the love, and the undeniable connection that tied you all together.
To your older brothers, you were their cherished little sister—sweet, gentle, and always eager to bridge the gap between them. You strived to ease their conflicts and show your love for each one of them, appreciating their unique qualities and talents equally.
Yes, you had no favourite. You loved them equally, and they both loved you in return, as their family. Until one didn't. Until something changed.
Suddenly, one of them seemed bothered by your mere presence. Always leaving the second you entered the same room, averting his gaze if your eyes were to ever meet, and ignoring your entire being at school.
This intoxicating, honey-like vapour with hints of candied oranges radiates out for metres around, drenching the halls of Inarizaki High and leaving Atsumu drunk on you.
He can't think straight, can’t focus on sports or academics. You’re the unofficial reason girls are now banned from volleyball practice. Even worse, you’re practically banned from his life. The shift from affectionate brother to distanced meanie was too sudden for you to not feel hurt. So much for your sweet sixteen…
You practically ruined him overnight, your secondary gender holding effects unexpected to it. Now, instead of grabbing ice cream as a group of three, it's you alone. Unless Osamu can join, but even that seems to annoy the faux-blond. He seems irritated by everything you do or do not do. You’re lucky if he walks off without saying a word, as every time Atsumu loses control over his emotions you end up crying in your mother’s embrace. He locks himself in his room and tries to rid himself of the nasty thoughts and feelings he holds inside.
But then there are moments...
Moments when he turns soft, when you meet at night by accident in the kitchen and he’s too drowsy to control his instincts. Suddenly, gentle eyes can't seem to look at anything but you. Suddenly, the smallest space between you seems unbearable to Atsumu.
And you let him. You’re no better.
You embrace him, gently running your fingers through his hair, and hum softly—your tender care is utterly captivating. How could his hands not grasp the fabric of your shirt, his arms tightening around you to hold you close, as the warmth between you rises and your hearts beat in unison?
Yet, it all fades at the break of dawn. Only a faint blend of your scents lingers—reminiscent of breakfast, with comforting notes of cinnamon and sugar.
It’s as if the scene abruptly shifts, like a sudden cut in a film. The atmosphere returns to its former state, and you find yourself once again only conversing with Osamu.
◈
Until you turn 18.
Until your first heat starts. Your nest made of anything you could grab in time, stealing blankets, pillows, an accidental hoodie of Atsumu.Something about it seemed so awfully comforting, you couldn’t refuse.
At night, you weep with your face buried in the fabrics, trying to muffle the sounds of your distress while immersing yourself in the rich aroma of cinnamon and spice. You’re burning from the inside, the need to rip your skin from your bones is almost unbearable. Your feverish state leaves you crying under the moonlight's embrace, a trembling plea of desperate longing echoes throughout the night. You crave, you need, more.
But what about your brothers? While they were both forced to wear earbuds and use scent blockers, one suffered just as much as you. Instincts, after all, cannot be completely suppressed.
Atsumu groans, his head sinking into the pillows of his bed as his eyes flutter shut.. God, he loathes this. Loathes having to run his own hands over his physique to remove his shirt. He would much rather feel your soft fingertips dip beneath the fabric and explore his heated torso. Every passing second more agonising than the one before. His only refuge is the enveloping darkness as he presses his eyes shut, desperate to escape the burning torment he's sinking into. He can hear you through the walls, your whines and moans of pain piercing through his solitude.
He really needs to move out.
◈
Your parents welcome you into adulthood, finally granting you the freedom to seek out your life partner, your mate. Yet, your brother won’t even give you the chance to explore this new chapter.
No, after that night, everything changes. He’s unnervingly close, pressing himself against your back, shamelessly inhaling your scent, burying his face in the nape of your neck. He decks you in compliments and constant touches.
Suddenly, he's everywhere around you, determined to keep anyone else at a distance instead. He insists you wear his jackets to school, wrapping you in his scent and effectively isolating you from the world. His overprotective behaviour is so extreme that even your parents are baffled by Atsumu’s mood swings. His intentions unclear as they all believe in the family bond you all have built over the years.
And you never voice a word of complaint. You would never even dream of challenging Atsumu’s behaviour. In fact, you seem to revel in it.
Despite Osamu’s growing suspicions and the concern it stirs in your parents, their advice falls on deaf ears. Both of you refuse their suggestion: after all, he’s your brother! You feel secure with him close by and aren’t ready to meet your alpha yet. So, your parents can only observe from the sidelines, hoping and praying it’s smooth sailing until the twins move out.
Until the nest is empty.
◈
What they don’t know is how your older brother projects the echoes of your cries and whimpers during your nights in heat onto his fleeting encounters. At 26, he remains resolutely single, every blind date a disappointment, every hookup unsatisfying and hollow. The desire he feels for you overshadows every attempt at connection, leaving him unfulfilled and unwilling to commit.
Everything seems colourless, flavourless-until family calls.
◈
You’ve moved abroad for your studies, seeking to put distance between you and Atsumu, desperate to suppress the sick thoughts and desires that have plagued your mind. You hoped that a change of scenery, far from Japan, would help you start fresh, to find your alpha and live a life untainted by these unsettling feelings.
Yet, returning home for Osamu’s engagement presents an unexpected challenge. The stage is set: the occasion is beautiful, with halls adorned in flowers and sweets to celebrate the festivities. But amidst the elegant decorations, nothing captivates quite like you. Your presence is intoxicating to Atsumu, who can hardly contain himself. Forgive him for losing his composure. Don’t mind the intense stares from across the room, the desire pooling in his dark eyes that burns into your back. Promises made to his brother were forgotten the second he got a glimpse of you.
Suddenly, the suit feels too tight, the necktie suffocating, and his palms dry. Here you are. You, in a stunning dress that accentuates every curve. You radiate a glowing allure that confirms—you're at your prime, ripe for the taking.
A strong arm wraps around your waist, the heat of his body searing through the fabric of your dress. Without needing to turn, you already know who it is; his name escapes your glossed lips. “Atsumu.”
He pulls you close, his presence enveloping you, his voice soft and sheepish against your ear. “I’ve missed ya,” he confesses, the warmth of his touch sending shivers down your spine.
You’ve missed him too, of course. Yet you tried to replace him with someone morally acceptable—a volleyball player from New York, who bore a slight resemblance to your brother. But could he ever truly fill the void left by Atsumu?
The sweet mixture of scents turns sour before you can even reply to Atsumu, before you can admit how much you’ve missed him as well. His fingertips explore your neck, lingering on your scent gland, fainted dents still feasible for his touch. The pressure borders on painful, as he demands an answer with a dangerous edge: “Who?”
If looks could kill, you’d be a dead woman. Your anxious scent mingles with his anger, creating an intense atmosphere that seems to draw everyone’s attention. The events unfold faster than your family can react. You feel the sting of his nails digging into your skin, jealousy manifesting as sharp pain as blood threatens to stain your dress.
Osamu, ever the protector, shields you from Atsumu’s anger, ensuring to guide you out of the halls in a rush. “I apologise for what he did,” the dark-haired twin mumbles, as he patches you up. “It wasn’t supposed to go like this, I promise.” He meets your eyes with a searching look. “He swore to keep his distance. And I thought you’d bring your boyfriend.”
You finally admit in defeat, “He couldn’t make it. I didn’t want to pressure him either—it’s too soon for him to fly over ten hours just to meet my…” You hesitate, casting a glance around the room as a deep sigh escapes you, “…family.”
Osamu nods, understanding. He returns to kneeling in front you, his expression filled with concern. “I hoped that after all these years, Atsumu would have cooled off.”
You cut him off, feeling an odd need to defend the blond. “He never did anything wrong,” you insist, trying to convince both Osamu and yourself as your gaze falters. “I’m just as much to blame as he is.” With this declaration, you rise and offer Osamu your hand, helping him back to his soon-to-be wife and the rest of the guests.
Nothing could have prepared you for the smell—the overpowering stench that no flowers could mask. Atsumu sits at the table, his eyes unfocused as your father speaks to him, the words a blur as his lips move too fast for you to catch. You only learn the outcome of the conversation when your mother asks you to approach your oldest brother.
Standing beside him now feels different, a new layer of fear creeping into your emotions—something you never anticipated feeling from him. “I’m sorry,” Atsumu finally breaks the heavy silence, straightening up to face you while avoiding your eyes. “I guess my protective instincts went a bit overboard after… all these years.” He clears his throat, cringing slightly at his own words.
With all eyes on you, you can only hum in agreement before you’re guided to sit beside Atsumu. The effort to mask the sour scent of his anger and soothe him only possible with you being closeby. You have to forget about your own feelings for the day; after all, the event is meant for enjoyment and celebration. Every smile you force, every laugh you share feels tainted with an aftertaste of discomfort, yet you try to maintain a semblance of normalcy, for Osamu.
But the close proximity—shoulders brushing, hands fleetingly touching, eyes meeting—heightens the tension between you. Your heart races uncontrollably, and shivers travel down your spine, each sensation a reminder of the internal struggle between your morals and instincts.
Atsumu, everso selfless, extended an offer for you to stay at his apartment. It was a gesture of goodwill, though it now feels like an unexpected complication. No one anticipated his behaviour would spiral this much, especially after the plans had been made. Your parents, trusting their children, hoped that Atsumu would have matured enough and that staying at his place would be more comfortable for you. They assumed you were busy enough with your studies and the hassle of flying back home to Japan that they simply decided for you weeks ago.
But as the door to Atsumu’s apartment clicks shut, the reality of the situation settles in. The safety of this space, the sanctuary you hoped for, now feels like a fighting ring where the unresolved tension might only grow.
Atsumu carefully guides you to your room, setting down your luggage, while repeating the same sentence over and over in his head: “Let her in and leave, lock your door, go to sleep.” Yet, as he turns to face you, his presence looms over you like a storm, his hands grazing your neck with a possessive, almost reverent touch, as his eyes lock onto yours.
“Who?” he asks again, his voice a low, dangerous murmur that sends shivers down your spine.
The blockers you’ve relied on falter under the overwhelming force of his scent, a potent mix of spice and raw desire that fills the room and stirs something deep and primal within you. You try to form a coherent response, try to remember the name of your partner, but your mind is consumed by the intoxicating presence of Atsumu. Each breath you take is thick with his scent, and you find yourself struggling to maintain a shred of rational thought.
Your attempt to explain dissolves into a stuttering mess, and all you can manage is a pathetic, “Not you.” The words escape your lips as a weak, desperate whimper, and Atsumu’s reaction is immediate and intense. A guttural groan of frustration erupts from him as he seizes your hips, pulling you roughly against his chest. His powerful arms encircle you, creating a cocoon of warmth that feels both incredibly comforting and alarmingly suffocating.
You can’t deny the wave of relief that washes over you as his scent engulfs you, blending with your own and heightening the undeniable ache between your legs. The slickness pooling in your panties is a blatant testament to your arousal, and Atsumu’s keen senses pick up on it immediately. His fingers dig into your body with a possessive urgency that makes your head spin.
A mental war rages within you: the clear, rational part of your mind screams that this is wrong, that your relationship with Atsumu is taboo and fraught with complications. But it’s overpowered by a darker, primal greed that drives you to clutch at him with a fervent need. You can’t ignore the way your body responds to his touch, the way every fibre of your being craves him despite the guilt and confusion clouding your thoughts.
Your arms wrap around his neck, pulling him closer as your lips brush against his neck. A desperate plea slips from your lips, echoing a longing you can no longer suppress. “Alpha…”
Atsumu’s groan vibrates through your body as his lips trail down your jawline, a possessive hunger that makes your knees weak. His tongue flicks over your scent gland, marking his claim with a rasping, “Mine, always been mine.” And it all gets too much for little you. Tears stream down your cheeks as you plead, “Tsumu… please…” Each cry is a mix of desperation and guilt, torn between what you know is wrong and the overpowering need within you.
“You’re telling me you belong to someone else? Yet you beg for me,” he speak lowly into your ear. As his sounds and murmurs fill your ear, the boundaries of right and wrong blur, leaving you surrendering to Atsumu’s fierce desire. His hands grip your waist with a primal hunger, the scent of desire thick in the air as he towers over you.
You shake your head, incoherent cries escaping your lips. “Just you… Ever always… Tsumu… Yours…” Atsumu’s breath hitches as he nips at your neck, his canines grazing your skin with a tantalising edge that sends shivers down your spine. The primal need within you breaks free, overwhelming your morals.
His erection presses against your tummy, the scandalous sensation causing a moan to escape you. You arch your body, craving the heat and pressure only he can provide. Atsumu’s grip tightens, fingers digging into your flesh as he revels in your response.
“Good omega,” he growls, his voice a low rumble that vibrates through you. His hands explore your body, tracing your curves before sliding under your dress to caress your bare skin. Every touch is electric, fueling the fire between you.
When his fingers brush against your damp panties, Atsumu’s leans closer, his breath hot against your ear as he whispers, “You’re mine, every part of you.” You moan in reply as his touch makes your body tremble, his weight pressing against you with a throbbing intensity.
“Please…” you beg, grinding against him, seeking more friction. “Tsumu… I need…” The energy almost driving you to come undone already, each touch overwhelming your self-control.
Atsumu’s movements are motivated by an insatiable need, his rough hands unrelenting as he pushes you onto the bed. “I need you,” he utters, his voice thick with desire. Your heart pounds, anticipation and desperation spiralling out of control as he undresses, his clothes hitting the floor in a blur. The raw need coursing through you is almost unbearable, each second that passes intensifying your craving. His every movement is a tease, a promise of the release you’re aching for, and your body trembles with a desperate hunger that feels as though you need him to survive.
He tears away your dress with frantic urgency, his lips scattering kisses across your exposed skin. “So perfect,” he murmurs into your skin, his breath hot and ragged. His touch ignites a fresh wave of need as his lips trail down your collarbone, his fingers finding the hem of your panties and stripping them away with fervent determination. “Tell me what you want,” he demands, his voice a low rasp.
When he finally tastes you, his tongue exploring your core with hungry abandon, each lick fuels the fire within. “More,” you plead, “Please, Tsumu, more!”
He hums in approval, swearing to himself to give you everything you crave. As he positions himself between your thighs, his body presses against yours with an intensity that leaves you breathless. Atsumu’s breath comes in ragged bursts as he looks down at you, his eyes dark with an almost feverish desire. “Maybe I should just fuck you senseless,” he muses, his voice thick with hunger. You whine in need, your body trembling as you practically drool over the sight of him. His slightly too-big cock rubs teasingly against your folds, each friction sending jolts of pleasure through your core.
“Gonna fill that sweet little cunt with my cum…” he groans, his words a sultry promise as he coats himself with your juices. Without any further preparation, he pushes into you. The stretch is overwhelming—too much, too good, too painful, yet just right. It’s as if he belongs inside you.
Your body arches instinctively to meet him, a desperate cry escaping your lips as you revel in the sensation. The connection between you both is undeniable, and with each inch that he sinks deeper, you’re consumed by the desperate need that has built up between you over the years.
Atsumu moans in response to your cries, his voice a low growl. “Breed you all day long, fuck…” he continues, his words a promise of unrelenting passion. He pauses for a moment, his hand gripping your hip tightly to hold you in place. The tip of his cock presses deeply into your fluttering walls, each thrust reaching parts of you that make your body shiver.
“Not already coming from just this, are you, baby?” Atsumu growls, his breath hot against your skin. His voice is laced with a mix of teasing and hunger, the edge of possessiveness clear in his tone. When you nod, your soft mewls send shivers through him.
Your arms tighten around his neck, pressing your face against his warm, soft skin as you beg, “Please, plea—ah, take care of me.” Your desperation is punctuated by those pathetic little whimpers, a level of need that drives your Alpha absolutely insane.
Atsumu pulls out of you momentarily, his gaze locked on yours. He groans, “‘Course I will,” before his hips snap forward again, plunging into you with a relentless force. Each thrust is driven by years of pent-up frustration and need, every motion filled with unfiltered desire.
You writhe beneath him, consumed by an overwhelming urge for his bite, his cock, his knot. You crave to be filled to the brim, your body yearning to be stretched and stuffed until you're perfectly round and swollen. “Tsumu” Your voice is desperate, barely recognizable as your own, laced with need. “I'm breeding your sweet little cunt and you’re going to take every. single. drop.” With the last words he already thrusts harshly into you. Big hands claw into your waist, forcing your body to arch helplessly as he dominates you. His thrusts are deep and relentless, each powerful movement making the fat of your ass jiggle. “Such a good bunny…” Atsumu groans, his voice dripping with possessive satisfaction.
“Now, come for me,” Atsumu commands, his gaze fixed on your quivering form. “Come all over me.” Desperation claws at you as you seek your release, your weak hands scratching at Atsumu’s back, leaving red streaks that burn on his skin. Legs spread wide for your alpha, your breasts bounce with every forceful thrust of Atsumu’s hips, connecting with yours in a delightful rhythm. Pleasure clouds your mind, reducing you to a chant of his name, each utterance a desperate plea.
Atsumu's mind roars with need as he looks down at you. He wants to mark you, claim you completely, and breed you. Now that he has you beneath him, he is determined to savour every moment, to ensure you are utterly his. He wants to see you drunk on his cock, to take care of you, his darling omega, until all but him is forgotten.
Atsumu feels you clenching around him, your tightness pushing him to the brink. “Just like that, good girl,” he groans, his voice rough with need. “You’re gonna make me cum.” The desire in his eyes is fierce as he thrusts deeper, the remnants of his control fraying with every movement.
With each powerful thrust, Atsumu's need to possess you grows. He envisions you marked, claimed, and filled by him, an unbreakable bond forged in this moment of passion. The rhythm of your bodies is a dance of primal desire, your cries of ecstasy blending with his guttural groans. The world outside fades away, leaving only the two of you, lost in a whirlwind of pleasure and need.
As you feel the peak of your release approaching, your body tightens around him, every nerve ending aflame with sensation. Atsumu's words, his touch, his presence, all coalesce into a symphony of desire that drives you over the edge. You tremble beneath him, your breaths coming in ragged gasps, your heart pounding in time with the rhythm of his thrusts.
You ache for him to release inside you, to fill you to the brim with the warmth you craved. The slap of his thighs against yours, the wet, frantic noises, and the erratic breaths all that fills the space between you. His strong scent envelops you, mingling with your own, as his fingers find your clit, rubbing with a relentless rhythm. The pleasure is overwhelming, stars exploding behind your closed eyes, your mind unable to grasp anything but the ecstasy he is giving you.
Atsumu’s chest presses heavily against you, a constant reminder of his dominance. “Don’t ever forget—” he rasps, his grip tightening on your hips. “That pretty cunt… these perfect tits… every damn inch of you belongs to me.” His words were a possessive threat, a vow of ownership.
He has you, his delicate omega, completely at his mercy. He's never going to give you away again. He feels high thanks to the way you unravel beneath him, turning you into a trembling, sobbing mess, overwhelmed by the intensity of his touch and the sheer force of his desire.
In that moment, you both reach the pinnacle of your desires, your high-pitched moans intertwining with Atsumu's deep, guttural ones. And he fills you so deliciously. Atsumu’s knot swells, pressing tightly inside you as he fills you with his cum. Each pulse of his release sends waves of ecstasy through you, making you feel as if you’re on the brink of losing yourself. His teeth bite down on your neck, and the stinging sensation sends lightning to course through your weakened frame, chiselling your bond in stone. It feels as though the world has narrowed to just the two of you, your bodies entangled in a state of perfect, overwhelming bliss. “Mine, all mine...” the hushed promised whispered into your nape.
As the sensations finally begin to recede, you drift into unconsciousness, the warmth of sleep enveloping you and providing a hazy escape from mistakes made in the dark.

can you do fem denji x male reader
Fem. Denji getting jealous
A/n:normally for a genderbent post I'd change the name to a feminine version of it but I can't think of anything for denji so it stays like that, also credit to x.zora.k on Instagram for the art.
"Look at that bitch, shamelessly flirting with my man"
"You can't even hear what they're saying"
You and denji were on a date (aki came along to make sure she behaved) when a girl she didn't recognized approached you and started talking to you, apparently you knew her so you two started walking away and talking with each other, which made your girlfriend very very angry.
"I don't need to, look at how she's acting, she's definitely flirting with him"
"I think she's just being friendly"
"As if, I know flirting when I see it"
"Like I said, you can't even hear it"
Denji ignored aki's words and started glaring even deeper at the girl
"What is it?"
".......my bobbs are bigger than hers right?"
"............I'm leaving"
"IT WAS A GENUINE QUESTION, I can't let her take y/n from me"
"And that's what you care about?"
"Obviously"
"*sighs* I need a cigarette"
"You can go get one if you want I'll just-.....*gasp* OK THAT'S ENOUGH"
The chainsaw hybrid was one step away from pulling the string on her chest before being stopped by aki.
"Stop. What happened?"
"DIDN'T YOU SEE THAT? SHE WAS HOLDING HIS HAND, THAT'S WAY TOO FAR"
"That's still no reason to try and kill her"
"B-but what if she's a devil trying to gain his trust to kill him"
"I find it highly unlikely, but go ahead if you want just know that I won't object to any punishment miss makima decides to give you"
"Ugh- fiiiine"
The blonde girl couldn't do anything but groan while waiting that you finished your conversation (while aki went away to not deal with whatever was about to happen)
"Hey babe, sorry if I took too long, we can continue our date now"
"You expect me to act as if nothing happened? You ditch me just to go hang out with some flat chested slut?"
".......she's my sister"
"And I'm not finished yet if you-........wait what?"
"Yeah, she came to Japan without telling me, it's been over two years that I don't see her so I just got so excited, I'm really sorry for what I did though, I should have prioritized you"
"N-no it's fine I should have been more trusting of you"
"Oh were you jealous?"
"Heck yeah I was, she was holds your hand, I should be the only girl allowed to do that.....I-I mean except family members I guess"
You giggled and approached your girlfriend then held both her hands in yours
"Is this better?"
"Yeah thanks"
"I think I know one way to make you realize you're the only girl I love"
You kissed her deeply and after a moment of surprise denji melted into the kiss not letting your mouth go for a while.
"Shit, that felt good, alright you're forgiven"
"I'm glad, how about a cuddle session to make it up to you even more"
"Yay cuddles!"
You held her hand and you started walking together, denji put her head on your shoulder to admire you with a bit of guilt in her eyes.
"Hey, sorry for earlier again, I wanted a boyfriend for so long, so when I got you, I guess I was scared of losing you"
"It's fine, jealousy is totally normal...... just don't insult my sister again"
"Yeah, dont worry......My bobbs really are bigger, though."
"*chuckle* you never change, but I guess that's one of the reasons why I love you"
Denji nuzzled into your shoulder and closed her eyes feeling the warmth of your words seep into pochita
"I love you too"

'Us Time' -Dad!Todoroki Shoto x Mom!Reader
A/n: once again I have no freaking clue what to do for the title. I meant to make y/n and Shoto stressed out and stiuff but it's just fluff :)
A/n 2: this is a bit old but decided to finally post it.
General info:
Genre: fluff/ slice of life // wc: 854
Summary: Shoto is tired of barely having any time with you, so he proposes an idea to get you for himself for an entire week.
"Mama! Mama!"
A voice called, causing you to groan.
"Mama~ it's light outside! Up time!"
Rubbing your eyes, you squint to see your four and a half year old jumping at the side of your bed, h/c locks bouncing up and down.
"C'mhere baby, it's still time to sleep some more." You yawn, reaching your arms out to your youngest.
"No! Sister and brother are up!"
"Oh- are they really?"
"Mhm! Sister says come get you!"
Sighing, you squeeze Shoto's arm that was wrapped around you, trying to let him let go.
"C'mon Sho, the kids need me." You whisper, turning around to play with his mismatched hair.
Whining at the thought of letting you go, Shoto hugged you tightly before slipping his arms down to his side.
"Aki, why don't you go snuggle dada while I go get your siblings ready?" You ask, kissing Shoto's forehead before sliding out of bed, picking Aki up.
Giggling, Aki gave you a kiss on the cheek before hurrying to crawl next to her dad, making him smile warmly.
"I love you both!" You call, already heading towards your twins' rooms.
"Yuki, honey? Are you up?"
Sofltly knocking on the door, you open it to see her room empty.
Assuming that both of them were awake, you wandered to the living room, where they were fighting.
"No! We can not wake up mom! She stayed up late last night!" Daiki whisper-shouted, grey eyes glaring at his twin sister, Yuki.
"But I'm hungry, and we have school today! She can nap when we go to school!" Yuki bit back, face as neutral as her dad's despite her harsh words.
"N-"
"Shhh it's okay, Daiki." You comfort, wrapping your eldest in a hug, petting his head to help soothe him. "You're sweet, but Yuki's right. I need to be awake to take care of you two."
"Bu-"
"No buts! I love taking care of you. If you didn't wake me up I'd be sad that you had to do it all on your own."
"Yuki, thank you for having Aki wake me up."
Yuki simply shrugged, back to her I-don't-care demeanor inherited from her dad. Just like Shoto, you knew that she did care, but she just hid the majority of her emotions. Luckily you had enough experience with Shoto that you knew how and when she needed you, and you were always ready to support her.
"Okay, who's ready for breakfast?" You smile, causing Daiki to smile back at you and Yuki's e/c eyes to shine a bit brighter.
~
"Love, do you know where my boots are?" Shoto called, causing you to roll your eyes fondly.
"Yeah, they're in our closet! If they're not there check in Aki's!"
"Thanks babe." Shoto smiled, walking over to you to press a kiss to your temple, hand resting on your hip.
"Mhm" you purr, leaning into your husband's touch.
"What do you think about a vacation?" Shoto mused, leaning down to pull on his hero boots.
"That won't really work with the twins schedule for anther few months-"
"I meant for the two of us."
Your breath caught in your throat as Shoto wrapped you in an embrace from behind, pressing a few kisses against your shoulder blades and neck.
"What abou-"
"Fuyumi or mom can take care of the kids. We haven't had us time in months, I miss you."
"I- I don't know Shoto.. that seems like a lot to ask. Plus what about work?"
"Those are just minor details, Love. Do you want to take a week off with me or not?"
"Of course I do but-"
"Then it's settled, I'll get everything prepared for let's say- next month?"
"Okay but-"
"Love, don't worry about it, and just let me handle it." Shoto purred, spinning you around to face him as he kissed your lips sweetly.
"Okay." You sigh, smiling into the kiss.
"I can't wait to have some us time." Shoto sighed, leaning his forehead on yours. "You've been so busy being an awesome mom and I've been working."
"Mhm, it'll be nice." You sigh, wrapping your arms around Shoto's waist.
"Speaking of-"
"Can you flirt elsewhere? We kinda wanna eat without your lovey dovey stuff going on." Daiki grumbled, hugging Aki close to him to shield her eyes.
"We're just hugging." Shoto chuckles, moving towards his kids with a fondness only you and your little family got to see.
"But-"
"Daiki, you mama needed a hug from her husband. Are you really going to be upset about that?"
Daiki immediately shook his head no, guilt clawing at him for interrupting your comfort.
"I'm sorry mama! Here, my hugs are better than dad's anyways!" Daiki apologized, sticking his tongue out at Shoto before wrapping you in a hug.
"Me too! I wanna hug!" Aki exclaimed, jumping onto Shoto's leg.
Lifting Aki up into his arms, Shoto guided Yuki towards you before enveloping the four of you in a hug, causing you to giggle.
After a minute or so Yuki squirmed away, closely followed by Daiki.
"Mom, you burnt the eggs." Yuki sighed.
"Oh shoot-"

"Viserys!" Daemon shouted as he galloped loudly down the halls. He paid no mind to the staff greeting him good morning as he called out for his brother. No one minds. They are far too used to him. His hair jostles with his movement, yet he barely heaves as he runs. He is far too used to this.
Daemon changes the name he calls as he practically jumps down the stairs with how much excitement was in his bones, "Aemma!"
He huffs as his tousled, silver blonde hair flies over his face as he makes it downstairs.
The prince nearly collides with a servant who just exited a room he passed. He braces her, grunts as he pushes past. She squeaks and quickly mutters an apology that is quickly ignored.
Daemon runs down the hall, making a quick turn when he reaches a corner.
Had it been anyone other than the Wild Child himself, it would have been a concerning sight to see a man running frantically so early in the morn. However, Daemon had done worse, far worse in his youth especially. It was best to rather just get out of his way, lest he accidentally injure you in an unfortunate collision.
Daemon busts into the dining room with a dramatic bang, fitting of his innate dramatics. Finally, he was out of breath and catches it as as his brother and sister-in-law cooed at their newborn babe.
He huffs, walking over to the joyous family, absolutely illuminated by the sound of the young heir's laughter and seemingly indifferent to his entrance.
Daemon releases a sigh at the sight of them.
The little girl squeals in excitement as her mother rattles her toy over her face.
Viserys finally turns to his younger brother, "oh. You're awake."
Daemon reaches him and slaps a hand on his back in regard, making a beeline for Aemma, who he promptly seals into a hug and kisses her cheek.
"Off, you cunt," Viserys points loudly but emptily, making his wife snort.
Daemon smirks at the reaction to his theatrics, glad to finally have attention, smile widening as he takes his turn to coo to his babe, "Rhae-Rhae!"
Viserys rolls his eyes, "Rhaenyra."
Aemma gives her husband a look, swatting a hand at him, "I think it's a cute pet name, lovie."
"Aemma," the man sat by the side of Rhaenyra's high chair shifts on his seat, "Ray-ray was the name of his dog when we were kids."
"But you're much cuter than him, innit?" Daemon says as he reaches out to Rhaenyra, "you're so much cuter than my widdle pitbull was."
Aemma breaks into a fit of giggles upon learning the dog's breed. From the spot where she stood to the right of Rhaenyra's high chair, she threw her head back, her long platinum blonde hair cascaded down her shoulder. She thinks it's fitting that the prince cared for a pitbull; the most misunderstood breed of canines, she thinks.
Viserys watches as Daemon takes his daughter, "she's not going to let you hold her."
Daemon ignores him and beams when the child is successfully in his arms.
Victorious.
That is up until she broke into a loud fit of tears.
"Aww, shh, shh," Aemma coos at her daughter, "it's uncle Daemon! Uncle Daemon."
"Yes, uncle demon," the child's father states, "who will not hesitate to steal your candy the minute he can."
"Viserys," Aemma warns.
The said man raises his arms, "I won't let him, lovie."
Daemon turns to Aemma with worry written on his face and moves to bring the baby for her to take. When he turns to his brother, Viserys has a shitfaced I-told-you-so look written all over him.
Daemon decides to ignore it, not even sparing an eye roll that was itching in his skull. Aemma takes Rhaenyra and hushes her in her arms. The effect is instant. Daemon looks on blankly yet in awe. Viserys catches the way his brother sighs in what he could only describe as delight. The former walks over to Viserys, circling behind him to pull the seat to his side and hunch over with intent.
Viserys shoots him a look. And here he thought his brother wanted merely to have breakfast. He should have known, "what do you want?"
These words alert Aemma, who turns from her spot as she continues to rock the already pacified baby in her arms.
"I want mother's ring."
Aemma gasps, eyes widening, jaw slacking.
Viserys pulls his head back, screws his eyes shut, then shakes his head in disbelief. He opens his eyes as he says, "you want what?"
"The red one," Daemon points, "you know. I always thought the emerald cut suited mummy's finger."
Aemma beams, "oh my gods, Daemon!"
"Wait," the king raises his hands, "wait, wait-" he turns to his excited wife, "wait," he eyes Daemon, "why you asking for the ruby ring?"
"I just said that-"
"Don't fuck with me."
Daemon straightens up at the sound of the king's hiss. He then snorts, unable to mask his amusement over his older brother's annoyance. He leans on the table and then grabs a piece of some of the sliced fruit. He chews the sweet melon and grape in his mouth, lips curving into a small smirk, "I'm going to get married."
Aemma cannot contain the squeal that slips out of her mouth, "DAEMON!"
"Fuck off," Viserys mutters, leaning back on his chair, "don't mess with me, you nitwit. I will have your arse if you-"
"No, I'm serious," he places a hand on his brother's shoulder, "I have met..." Daemon exhales, shaking his head. He holds his tongue, trying to think of the right words to say. Aemma and Viserys both are stunned by this, the latter most especially. The prince purses his lips then utters, "the most enchanting woman and..."
Aemma whimpers, hand coming up to her lips, tears glassing her eyes.
Viserys shifts in his seat to turn to his brother.
"I..." Daemon shakes his head, turning away from his brother in thought. He knits his brows as he chuckles to himself. He retreats his hand, "I have no idea how, or why, but I just know," he turns to Aemma, "she's the one."
Aemma bursts into tears upon hearing the admission. She hands her daughter to her husband then heads off to Daemon to seal him into a tight embrace. Daemon laughs as he stands and meets his sister-in-law halfway, cooing at her as they hug affectionately. He rubs her back, and kisses the top of her head, "aww, my sweet girl, we do not deserve you."
The king is too stunned to do anything but hold his heir.
The embrace lasts a good ten seconds.
"Gods, Dae," Aemma whimpers, "I'm so happy for you."
Viserys is frozen in his spot as he holds Rhaenyra. He looks out to door and calls, "someone! Someone come and bring a maester! My brother is terribly ill! He's in fucking love!"
Aemma and Daemon pull away from each other, chuckling as they did. The former swats Viserys and the latter waves at Rhaenyra, who was looking up at her papa, then idly turned to her uncle.
The king sighs before he turns up to his brother, "well, tell me about her. I would damned die trying to wrap my head around what kind of woman got you so worked up like this."
Aemma watches as Daemon's face lights up. It warmed her heart so dearly to see his good-brother like this.
"I cannot put it into words, Vis, but the moment I saw her," Daemon waves his hands around, "I- it was like... the wind was knocked out of my lungs."
"Gods. The Mother. The Stranger. The Smith," Viserys whimpers, standing from his chair, placing his daughter on the highchair. He pats her bald baby head, "lest I hurl on you, my love."
Aemma is sill very much sobbing. She clutches Daemon's bicep, "so?! When did you meet her?! What's her name? What does she do? What does she look like?! Do you have a photo of her? Show me a photo of her right now!"
Daemon chuckles at her rapid fire questions and grabs her cheek, leaning his forehead onto her. When he pulls away, he places his cherished possession into her hand. Daemon pushes past her and Aemma looks at the small white card with much intrigue.
Daemon feels a tingle run down his spine as he hears Aemma read the name out loud. He steps in front of his brother as his sister-in-law chimes, "she works at a museum and is a professor part time," the woman turns to her husband, "she's an intellectual, Viserys!"
"I'm going to need that ring, brother," Daemon declared.
Viserys turns to Daemon, eyes narrowed in both scrutiny and annoyance by his telltale spoiled attitude, "I can't just get mum's ring. It's in the vault with-"
"It's not in the vault," Daemon asserts, "Rhaenys borrowed it for the recent gala and it's still in the storage chamber here. I was the one that signed off the insurance papers for it to be shipped tomorrow. It's Not. In The Vault."
Viserys sighs and rolls his eyes, "oh, very well, let's get it both."
"I am more than capable of getting it my-"
"No!" Viserys raises a finger in respite, "the last time you were in the storage chamber, you nearly cost both of us our heads with the tragedy you laid upon grandpa's antique pottery."
Daemon takes his turn to rolls his eyes just as Viserys begins to walk off, "I was nigh but 13, you dunce!"
The elder snaps a glare at the younger, "I'm astonished you've convinced yourself that you found any semblance of maturity past that age, demon."
Daemon rolls his eyes again. Aemma calls out, "wait," grabbing her daughter, "we're coming with you." She jogs up to her brother-in-law and hands him back the card. Daemon places it in his pocket, "thank you, my love."
"Lovie," Viserys calls out, "just enjoy your breakfast, we shan't be long," he places his hands on his wife's shoulders.
"Oh, breakfast can wait, this is far more exciting, lovie," Aemma grins.
Viserys is weakened by her and sighs. He presses a kiss on her forehead, "fine. Do you want me to carry Rhaenyra?"
"I've got it, baby," she smiles, leaning into him.
Daemon watches them as they walk off. His stomach is in knots, thinking about how badly he wants that to happen with him and his love this very instant.
Daemon didn't need help to find the ancestral ring. The moment they walked in the chamber, he made a beeline for the object with not a second thought.
He takes the box and opens it, heart leaping into his mouth as he grins from ear to ear. He closes it with a thud and raises it in his hand with an expression of a boy opening gifts in Christmas morn, "I've got it."
Aemma giggles, rocking her baby with excitement, "look, Rhaenyra, uncle Daemon's got a ring."
Rhaenyra looks out inquisitively as her uncle walks over.
Uncle tries, getting on one knee, opening the box, "will you marry me, Rhaenyra?"
Viserys instantly kicks him down, "oh, fuck off, you incipit twat!"
Aemma giggles, as does the struck Daemon, felled on the floor with not a hint of offence.
When he stands, he lunges towards his brother, sealing him into a tight embrace, "you've made me a happy man, Viserys."
Viserys finds it tempting to fight him off and curse his bones, but he had not seen Daemon so sincerely excited and bright in a long while, and so he wraps his arms around him and leans into his touch, patting his back firmly, "alright, you bugger. Now let me see that card this time."
Daemon pulls away with a grin, pulling out the card for the king.
"Oh, let me see a photo of her!" Aemma shakes her hand out.
"I've not had the chance to photograph her," Daemon shakes his head, "don't worry though, I'll bring her home soon enough."
Aemma grins, hugging her daughter tightly. She coos at Rhaenyra and raises her small, soft arm up at Daemon, muttering as though it was the child, herself, speaking,, "and just how soon is soon, uncle?"
Daemon smiles at his niece, "why, this very moment, Rhae-Rhae," he leans in to gently pinch her rosy cheek. He then pulls away to swipe at his wrist, uncovering the watch beneath his dress shirt, "I'm calling her at 11:55."
"EEEK!" Aemma cheers, "Hear that, Rhaenyra? You're going to have an aunt!"
"Damn, Daemon," Viserys lifts his eyes up to his brother, "when did you meet her again.?
Daemon turns to his brother, shoving the box in his pocket. He got what he wanted; there was no need to mask anything. "Last night," he noted, reaching out to retrieve the card from him.
"I'm sorry," Viserys pulls the card away, preventing it from being snatched, "what?"
The prince sniffles, pressing his lips casually together, "I met her at the Blue Ginger last night."
Aemma's face falls into a inwardly concerned and shocked look.
"Give me the-"
Viserys steps back, pulling his arm farther back, "and there it is. There it is!" His neck strains at the intensity of his speech. He scowls at his brother angrily, making Daemon's jovial expression dim into a similar shade.
"So, what?!" Viserys shakes his head, lips curving into annoyance and disgust. "What? You fucked her then-"
"DON'T," Daemon points a finger, "FUCKING talk about her like that!" he seethed, stepping forward, bunching Viserys' shirt.
"Daemon!" Aemma calls out in concern.
Viserys scoffs, eye twitching in anger. He doesn't care that Daemon is staring at him with darkness, ruining his shirt in his fists. He rips the card in his hand into pieces. Daemon releases his brother in shock, face falling, jaw clenching.
"Viserys!" Aemma calls in shock, the same time Daemon barks, "you FUCKER!"
"Give me the ring, Daemon," Viserys commands, snorting, stiff as though he declared war, "I will not allow you to follow through with your frantic idiocy."
"I love her!" Daemon growls, teeth grit in fury.
"You want her!" Viserys corrects, stepping closer, "you've no idea what love is, boy! You want her like you wanted to be king then not!"
Daemon heaves at his brother's chastises.
"You met her yesterday! That is not love!" Viserys snarls, "it is nothing but love sprung from the head of your haughty cock!"
"Viserys!" Aemma cries.
"It is lust, Daemon!" the king proclaimed. He steps back, turning to the torn pieces of paper on the floor. He kicks it, but it barely does anything in affect, "you will not follow through with this madness!"
"You think I've not saved her number, dipshit?" Daemon shudders in anger. He grips the velvet box tightly in his pocket, feeling his body vibrate in hatred, scorn... hurt.
Viserys nearly drops his expression when he sees the glassiness of the prince's eyes.
Aemma's lips part, "Daemon."
"You told me you knew from the moment you saw her," Daemon points to Aemma accusingly before weakly dropping his arm, "that she was for you."
"Daemon," Viserys sounds defeated, "Aemma and I got to know each other for years before getting married," he whispers.
"And I will continue to know her for the rest of my life!" Daemon exclaims.
"Daemon," Viserys and Aemma call at the same time. The latter walks forward, placing a hand on the prince's shoulder, which is sequentially shrugged off. It hurts the queen, but she was kind enough not to push him further. The former sighs, raising his hands questioningly, "no matter how visceral it felt, no matter how drawn you were to meet her," the elder Targaryen states carefully, "you cannot be sure of-"
"I HAVE NEVER BEEN-" Daemon wails, desperate like a cat surrounded by water. His voice nearly breaks when he continues, "more sure of anything EVER-" he heaves, annoyed by the tears that were threatening to spill down his face. He shudders sharply, "not since the day mother died."
The tone in the room shifts drastically.
Daemon looks at his brother with pleading eyes as he recounts the memory, "I told you she... I told you she was dead that night, I told you I felt it in my bones, and you told me not to worry," tears finally streak down his cheeks, "we both woke up to father's ghost of a face."
Viserys remembers the day well. He remembers how adamant and frantic his little brother was that night. He had done his best to pacify him. Yet that morning it was he that was pacified by Daemon.
The king does a good job concealing his perceived weakness to his brother, he holds back tears he was to cry out, as the boy continues to plead his case.
"What's the point of waiting years, delaying something I am certain I desire now?"
"Daemon," Viserys says, almost helplessly, "you are a prince. You cannot marry on a whim and leave-"
"I will not LEAVE her!" Daemon erupts. He cannot take it anymore. He begins to fume, chest rising and falling quickly, "there was once a time when a prince was allowed to execute his wishes-"
"AND I AM THE KING!" Viserys bangs on his chest as he screams. He begins to heave just like his sibling, face succumbed to disdain. He raises his hand up to him, "give me the ring, Daemon."
Aemma feels her heart hurt at the sight of them. She feels her heart hurt especially because Daemon's face was wholly sullen, a complete contrast to what it was a while ago.
Daemon's face is blank. His defenses were up. Whatever brightness in hin was now gone.
"Is that a command, my king?" the second born utters under his breath.
The king thinks. He is tempted to say it, to do what he promised his baby brother he never would, exert his sovereignty over him. His chest constricts, his brows knit, his eyes begin to water. He cannot do that to him.
"It is a plea from your older brother, Daemon."
Daemon rolls his shoulders back. He holds back the quiver of his lips, "why should I listen to my hateful brother's plea when he did not listen to mine?"
"Daemon," Aemma calls, herself now overcome with emotion.
The said man walks away, pushing past them.
Viserys heaves. He watches his brother turn his back on him. He begins to flare with abhorrence and offence, "DAEMON!"
The prince does not listen as he walks away, storming out the storage chamber, slamming the doors on his way out. He mutters strings of High Valyrian curses as he roughly wipes his face on his sleeve.
Daemon soothes himself by remembering that Viserys was a rat, a gremlin, unadulterated rubbish, his absolute nemesis since time immemorial. He was difficult and cruel and irritating and selfish. He loathed him.
His eye twitches, his walking slows. Cunt. He hates himself for caring so much about him. Fuck him.
When Daemon gets to the garage, he wills the memory of choosing and purchasing the silver Benz with his rat brother in the very hell depths of his mind. He leans on the hood, his blonde hair falls on his face.
He'll turn around.
He snorts, wiping his philtrum.
He always turns around... he has to.
He pulls out his phone, blinking away the tears. He cusses when he sees that it was 10 am. There was no way he would get to the other side of town in time.
He gets in his car and drives off. He merely pulls over a few minutes before 11:55 to make good his promise.
Meanwhile hours before this incident, on the other side of the town, there was a heart as sulking just the same.
I had not gotten a lick of sleep in anticipation of this moment. I was hunched over on my desk, watching my screen, heart jumping every time the clock blinked with a new number.
"I got the One Eye comment again," a voice huffs as he walks into the office room, "people think they're so smart and original," his voice rises when he continues, "you told me I didn't look ridiculous with this on."
I straighten from where I stood, bent over, then turn to my side, catching the light haired intern, rip off his eye patch and slam it onto his desk. He roughly dusts off his jumper and pants for no reason other than annoyance.
I raise my brows at him and pout, "someone as handsome as you cannot ever look ridiculous, Aemond," I slump back down on my desk. I mutter, half-muffled, "it runs in the family."
Aemond rolls his eye, regretting it with the damned sty in the left one throbbed with pain. He huffs turning to me, pointing a finger, "you need to stop calling my damned brother pretty boy. He's starting to believe it."
I snort as my lips spread into a smile, "that's good; he is."
Aemond walks over to me, sardonic as ever, "historians aren't supposed to distort the truth, professor."
I stand, looking at his angular face, taking in his how the strands of his shoulder length hair, tied in a small bun, framed his sharp cheeks and jaw, how his pouty lips were curved into that of disdain. He was adorable, just like he was as a child when I met him perchance.
"Don't you teach me, kid," I narrow my eyes and purse my lips, "you're one failed review away from repeating the whole term."
Aemond is unfazed as he crosses his arms, "mmm, another term with a certainty to be had under your wing sounds delightful."
I roll my eyes, "Aemond."
Said Aemond's lips curl into a soft smile, enjoying the fact my words backfired on itself.
"We've been through this, my dear," I place my hands on his toned shoulders, "you're nervous about nothing. There's not a reason for you not to get hired here after you've graduated."
He hums again, relaxing against my touch, "and what of the failing mark my beloved teacher threatens to lay upon me?"
I huff as I pull away from him, drawing back my desk chair and plopping down, "you know I don't work like that, pretty boy."
Aemond clenches his jaw, "don't call me that."
I turn to him, resting my elbows on my desk, "why not? I think you're pretty too."
He turns away, thinking about his sty, thinking about how his breath hitched when he first met his beloved teacher, thinking about his brother, Aegon, made you laugh where he made things awkward in your first meeting, "that's the oaf's nickname. I do not want it."
I follow him with my eyes as he storms off, grabbing his eye patch, putting it back on. He then walks back behind me to finish labeling the books stacked there.
"Is it so bad to share a nickname with your brother?" I ask.
"Yes," he quickly blurts. Aemond doesn't waste another moment and grabs a book a lot rougher than normal.
I turn away from him, dejected by his ire. I grab my phone, seeing the time was 11:49. I brace my arms in front of me and lean down, sighing.
I repeat this process over and over and over and over and-
Aemond, who had been witness to it, finally asks, "what are you sighing about?"
"I'm waiting for a call."
"Mmm," he shifts on his place and presses his hand on a book, "is it from the Maester's Association?"
"No."
"Septa's Guild?
"No."
Aemond raises a brow, "they what are you so restless about?"
I check the clock for the nth time, heart leaping when I see it's 11:53. I straighten in my seat and begin to fix my hair. I clear my throat and do some nonsensical sounds to warm up my voice.
Aemond forgets about his task altogether and turns to me. His brows knit and he leans on the table, "who exactly are you waiting to call you, professor?"
I breathe in deeply, checking the time again. 11:54. I cradle my phone in my hand as though it is my lifeline.
"The love of my life."
Aemond straightens up, stiffening and deflating all at once. His face tenses so tightly, the sty irritates him again. For a moment, he is overcome with a bitterness in his throat. He thinks of his brother again-- but that can't be.
He clenches his jaw and relaxes. He thinks about how loosely that term is used when uttered upon his beloved professor's lips. He relaxes completely, releasing a breath. He turns back to his books, calming himself with his breathing.
He wonders out loud, "Alicent?"
Aemond thinks his guess to be right. After all, his cousin, your many times over research partner, had been in Essos for weeks for a riveting symposium. He was perplexed why you hadn't expressed the same enthusiasm in going there, considering the fact there was a dragon skeleton recently unearthed there, apparently Caraxes' no less. He did not buy the fact you weren't interested in the dig site at least, knowing how you were obsessed with his rider, Daemon Targaryen I.
"No, not Ali," I mutter, shaking my head.
Aemond thinks of another one of his professor's research partners besides Alicent.
I mutter softly, "someone else... you don't know him."
Him?
"... well," I chuckle, "I suppose you do."
Aemond is now utterly confused.
My heart nearly stops when my phone clock strikes 11:55.
Aemond once again forgets about his work upon hearing the gasp. He awaits the sound of the phone ringing.
The seconds passing are dreadfully unbearable. I count each and every one of them. By the time I reach 34, I begin to feel bile rise up my throat.
Dear gods, he forgot about me. He forgot about me, and he's not going to call. How silly of him to even promise such a thing. He's probably caught up in doing his princely politicking. Hell, I wouldn't even remember-
I gasp again, dropping the phone when it began to vibrate and ring. I choke on my breath, my hands fumble, my shoulders tense, my mind is racing.
Aemond watches this intently, how the most poised and composed person in his life began to break down like a tower of unglued blocks. He watches as his professor stares blankly at the ringing phone.
"Answer it," he urges, stepping forward once.
His voice wasn't even loud nor demanding, yet I still start at it. I nod my head profusely then scramble for my phone. I quickly gain my wits and answer the call.
I press the screen against my ear, carefully calling, "hello?"
"Hello? Hello! Hi! Hi, my love!"
Daemon sound ecstatic, relieved. My jaw is parts into a smile. I am heaving heavily through my mouth as my stomach swirls and my chest tightens. I grip on my elbow, breathlessly replying, "hi."
"Hi! Hi. Right. I'm pulled over in the side of the highway-"
"What?" I jolt from my seat. Aemond jolts as well. "W-wh-why? Are you hurt? Did something happen? What highway are you on? Should I call-"
"Hush, love," he chuckles, "lykiri," he hushes, calm down in High Valyrain, and continues in the same tongue, "calm down. I am well," he breaks into a soft laugh, "oh, my dear, my darling, I only pulled over to make good on my promise to call you at 11:55."
I release a breath of relief. I relax my shoulders, nodding my head, muttering mostly to myself, "on the dot."
I can almost hear him smile from across the line, "yes, my sweet girl... though a few seconds passed," he chuckles, "I hope you do not fault me for it."
"Never," I lean my head into my hand, releasing shaky breath. My breathing is shallow and my eyes flutter close.
My sweet girl. It was been so long since I heard his voice utter these words. A dam of memories break open and my mind floods with memories of him calling me this; it's all very tender, like an open wound. Tears begin to strain in my eyes and my throat constricts with a tight band of emotion.
"Are you crying?" Aemond mutters lowly that even he doesn't hear it.
"I reckon I'll be there in about 10 minutes, give or take," Daemon sounds guilty when he says this, "I'm sorry to make you wait, my pretty girl, but you can wait a few more minutes for your prince, can't you?"
I shudder out his name, biting my lip tightly for a moment, trying to even out my breath so he doesn't catch the sound of my sobbing, "10 minutes is inconsequential to how long I have been waiting for you."
He takes a moment to respond. I hear him sigh, "I couldn't sleep last night thinking of you either."
"You're the only thing I've ever thought about," I whisper like a secret, afraid to wipe the tears on my cheeks away, in fear of smearing my makeup.
He laughs at the admission. It is smug and self-indulgent, but it is unlike the other times I've heard him laugh conceitedly. At its core, Daemon sounded relieved, he sounded touched.
"I am glad to hear it," he openly affirmed, "I will come to you soon. Nothing will keep us apart."
His words squeeze my heart, my very soul, my being. I mutter softly, "drive safe."
"I will, my love."
My breath hitches. I lick my lips in preparation, but then I stop myself. Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say-
"I love you," I sigh.
A beat of silence passes.
Part of me feels foolish when I am met with only ambient noise. I don't regret saying it at all though. I punish my lower lip tightly with a bite that draws out blood, but then I release it in shock when he calls back.
"I love you," he says, "wait for me."
The call ends.
The moment I put my phone down, Aemond is upon me. He gently takes my arm and words my name out carefully. He doesn't say anything else. He seemed not to know what else he could.
I turn to the tall man, one eye covered, strands of silvery hair still haphazardly framing his face. He adjusts his hold on me when I reach out to his arms, gripping the fabric of his jumper, not so much him. He has his hands on both my arms and he looks down at me with concern, speaking my name once more.
I turn away from him, blinking rapidly as it all sinks in, "it's finally happening."
"What is?" Aemond asks, almost helplessly, quite unlike his usually certain demeanor.
I turn back to him, lifting my chin to meet his gaze, releasing my clutch on his top, jumping into him to seal him into a tight embrace. He is taken aback by my sudden haptics, but immediately hugs be back.
"I'm finally going to have him."
"Have," he coaxes slowly as he bends to offer me more stability on my feet, "him?" Aemond voice strains, "who are you talking about?"
"My love," I break away, blinking tears as I look back at Aemond. There is a line of worry on his face, but I could not bring myself to offer him but only a quick caress of his cheeks as comfort and reassurance. I pull away, fanning myself, "dear goodness, I have to get ready."
I dash to my desk, swiping my bag, immediately running toward the bathroom.
Aemond could do nothing but watch and rack his brain trying to make sense of it all. He is so perplexed by it that he thinks of calling his brother for answers. In his lack of better judgement, he dials the contact and his phone begins to ring.
Aegon on the other line barely croaks a tired hello and Aemond is already demanding answers, "you were with her at the Blue Ginger last night, correct?"
There is a moment of silence. There was no need for clarification for Aegon to understand what the seven hells his younger brother was on about.
Daemon arrives at the museum, in his black three piece, black trilby, and dark red shades. He adjusts his glasses. For once in his life is damned annoyed by his unmissably strong presence.
Immediately, this steward walks over to him, her eyes roving all over, brows raised in inquisition. He doesn't let her speak to him, a finger raise is enough to silence her. He states that he had business with a professor and asks where he could find her.
He wastes no more time than necessary, heading off to the direction he was given.
He shoves his hands in his pockets, paying no heed to the people who spot and gawk at him, wondering louder than they should about who exactly he was. He makes his way upstairs and goes down the hall as he was told.
His cool composure is completely destroyed when he sees the person standing at the end.
"Daemon," I mutter sparing not a second's thought as I run over to him, not caring that I was in heels, or in a dress, or even that my perfectly restyled hair was being ruined.
Tears begin to prick at my eyes all over again. After all my talk in front of the mirror not to ruin my redone makeup, I couldn't bring myself to care in this moment.
Daemon strides over to me, quickening into a jog as he removes his hat and sunglasses, sighing heavily as his lips curve into a smile. He outstretches his arms in anticipation.
Aemond, catching the quick blur from the window, stops what he is doing and runs outside.
Quickly, and all at once, I am upon him.
Our chests collide with a thud, our limbs wrap around each other tightly. We bury ourselves into each other's necks, basking in the affection, in the scent of each other, in the warmth.
I cannot help but sob onto him.
He instinctively hushes me, lifting me off my feet as he does, "hush, little one, I am here. I am here. Lykiri."
I pathetically sob into his collar, "I missed you so much."
Daemon tightens his grip on me. He mutters in High Valyrian, "I missed you like I've been waiting a thousand years."
I choke as I brush my nose against him, "2000."
When he tries to pull away, I nearly scream in protest, "please don't pull away! Please."
Daemon sighs and leans down, allowing me to stand on my feet. He was so familiar to me, so much so I recognized his impeding action. I felt him brush his hands down to my waist. I knew exactly what he was going to do. I jump when he bends to grab me, carrying me into his arms. I tightly wrap my legs around his waist and nuzzle against him. Daemon cradles my thighs and nuzzles all the same.
Aemond had seen enough from the end of the hall at this point. He regrets spending his free time doing errands as he waited for his professor. He keeps his gaze on the floor as he quickly makes his way down the hall to leave, somewhere far-- as far as his legs would take him. He is all but ignored as the heavily infatuated couple pass him.
"My office is the last one," I mutter against Daemon's neck, eyes closed, finger tips massaging his scalp.
I open my eyes to check if he got the right room. He did.
A part of me is concerned when I do not see my favorite apprentice. The thought quickly evaporates when I am propped on a desk and hungrily kissed.
I moan on instinct when our lips connect. I readily return his fervor just as hungrily. My heart is thundering in my ribcage as his large hands rub up and down my back. I pull him closer, tightening my legs around him, tugging at the roots of his hair. He moans. Gods I've missed that sound.
I pull away from him when his hands trail down my thighs, attempting to hike my skirt up.
"Daor, ñuha zaldrīzes," I mutter softly, placing my hands atop his.
No, my dragon.
Daemon pulls back and huffs heavily, the heat of his breath brings goosebumps on my skin. He looks down at me, violet eyes blown, lips stained with my lipstick, a predator, made tame only by the call of his mate.
He kneads at my flesh, leaning closer, brushing his nose against mine, "I promise you'll like it," he leans deeper between my legs, "I'll make it quick, so no one sees," he steals a kiss on my lips, "you were made for my eyes only."
I wrap my arms around his torso, leaning into his chest as I shake my head in disagreement, "Daor, ñuha zaldrīzes," I repeat in his mother tongue, continuing all the same, "I don't want to rush you. I want to savor you completely and recount every inch of you."
He curses in the same language, calling out my name like a prayer, He kisses me deeply.
Daemon pulls back to bring his lips on my cheek, my jaw, my neck, then the back of my hand. He rubs my knuckles as he takes me in. I bring one hand to his cheek, in utter disbelief that I had him here with me finally, that he was here, right in front of me.
My spirit leaves me when he gets on his knee and pulls out a box from his pocket.
"Daemon-"
"Never before have I ever felt such feelings for anything, for anyone," Daemon looks up at me with wide violet eyes as he slowly opens the box. I stare at the large emerald cut ruby. It was as red as blood, as clear as day.
He speaks my name, like he burned it into his tongue, like it is the most scared sound in the world, "gaomagon nyke se greatest rigle hen becoming ñuha ābrazȳrys."
My lips part and my chest inflates and deflates.
Do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife.
He didn't even ask.
In the intensity of it all, my quivering lips curve at his words. My nostrils flare in amusement.
How very Daemon of him.
I slide down to my feet and reach out to him. He takes my hand with a hopeful look. My hand lands back on his cheek. He moves to pull the ring out as he grabs the palm on his face. "No, Daemon," is all it takes for him to crumble before me. I push the jewel back in its place and close the box.
Daemon's brows furrow as he watches me pull the wheeled desk chair back and sit there before him.
The prince's eyes and cheeks are wet with tears. The sight is soul destroying.
He clenches his jaw as he places his hands on my thighs, shifting down on both his knees, "why not?" He asks this so helplessly that it strikes a chord in my heart because it sounded so much like his cries, at least the ones that I heard in my last moments before coming back to life, seeing he traded his breath for mine.
I grab his face, shaking my head as I lean towards him, "I am yours, Daemon.; before you were even born, I was yours. Nothing in this world, old or new, will ever change that."
"Then why would you," he heaves a moment to catch his breath, hanging his head low, "deny me this?"
"Daemon, look at me," I call, lifting his head up, "this magic between us," I speak carefully, "this will never change. My heart has broken a million times, but you have remained my beacon of light.
His face scrunches, he shakes his head. I can tell there is a veil of confusion covering his mind and yet he is trying to understand.
I cup his cheeks, "that may not have changed, but the world has. I do not wish to cause you strife where strife should not be welcome. The world is looking at you now, more than ever before."
He clenches his jaw, "I don't fucking care how many worlds watch me while I shit," his nostrils flare, "I want you, I need you, I l-"
He looks physically pained when he stops himself from continuing.
"Daemon," I uttered, "tell me, what did Viserys say about this?"
Daemon recoils. A shiver runs down his spine as his face hardens with betrayal. His hands grip my wrists tightly, "it nary matters what my brother thinks-- he doesn't think, he only tells me what to do."
"My love," I frown, "the king only acts the way he does in his care for you."
"You know NOTHING of my brother!" he snarls, face reddening in rage, shoving my hands off him, "do not come to me all sage about him."
I withdraw from him, straightening in my chair, sighing as I place my hands on my lap, "you can bare your teeth at me all you want, but your fangs are cannot pierce me. You are a toothless babe in my eyes."
Daemon's cheeks twitches. His breath struggles. He drops the box on the floor with little care. I internally cringe at the sound of it.
"Daemon," I huff, "I know you only want the approval of your brother," I add, lowering my head to him, "I know it hurt you when he forbade you to go through with your plan."
He looks away, tears steaking his cheeks. He levels his breathing. He releases his tension and sinks on his knees. He doesn't look at me when he pulls me close to him by my calves and drops his head on my thighs. I feel dampness pool on my clothes. I begin to comb through his blonde hair. He grabs at my skirt helplessly, "he thinks me a fool, the king... a puppet, desperately in need of a puppet master."
"You know that's not true," I respond in High Valyrian.
"How do you know!?" Daemon lifts his head, hands taking mine tightly. His voice is shrill, it's defensive and challenging. And yet he repeats the same words, "how do you know?" voice soft, wondering and desperate.
I rub his wrist with my thumbs, "it will take more than my lunch break for me to explain it."
Daemon straightens up, immediately concerned, "no. No, you cannot leave me. You cannot make me leave. I-"
"I'm not leaving you," I grasp him tightly, "and I will never make you leave," I continue in High Valyrian, "no one said anything about leaving."
Daemon clenches his jaw, he shifts his hands in mine, linking our fingers together. He desperately adds in his mother tongue, "I will die if you do not become my bride."
I cannot help the chuckle that leaves me when I hear his words. I tighten my grip on him, then feel a foreign object on his pinkie. I turn to his hand and see the iron ring on it. My breath hitches. It is the exact same ring he had before. What a marvel that it's intact after millennia.
I pull away my hands. Daemon starts, not liking the idea of losing contact. His settles slightly when gaze turns to where mine was and he sees me pull the ring off his finger.
"Hen lantoti ānogar, v sȳndroti vāedroma," I start, slipping the ancient piece of jewelry bearing his family's sigil on my ring finger, "mēro perzot gīhoti, elēdroma iārza sīr," I look up to him, "izulī ampā perzī,--"
"--prūmī lanti sēteksi, hen jenȳ māzīlarion," Daemon joins, expression perking, "qēlossa ozūndesi, sȳndroro ōñō jēdo," he brings his hands to my cheeks and leans his head against mine, "rȳ kīvia mazvestraksi."
Blood of two, joined as one, ghostly flame, and song of shadows, two hearts as embers, forged in fourteen fires, a future promised in glass, the stars stand witness, the vow spoken through time, of darkness and light.
I gasp when Daemon's lips crashes into mine. His hands dart down to my hind, pulling me close to him, trapping his body between my legs once more.
We only break away in desperation for air.
"We are wed," I mutter, pressing another kiss upon his, "here and now I am your bride and you are my groom. We are wed. The gods are our witnesses." I brush my nose against his, closing my eyes, "the wedding can wait, but from now on you are mine."
"Mine," he repeats, lips curving upward, "my bride," Daemon brushes my hair back, "I would die if I ever witness your pretty finger naked of my ring." He takes my ring clad hand, kissing the skin at the back.
"Please," I shake my head, "stop with that talk," I mutter, brows furrowing, "I forbid you from doing anything that would ever lead you to death. I will not know what to do with myself if I lose you all-"
I am cut off when Daemon crushes me into a tight embrace. I relax against him, tightening my arms around him.
"You will not escape me," Daemon mutters, sinking his face in the crook of my neck, "you will never evade me. I will be your air, your ground, your thoughts, your dreams."
My stomach is in a flurry. My head is swimming in everything that is him.
"My love," he sighs, "my wife," he finishes his thoughts in High Valyrian, "there would be no world worth living if I do not have you."
I cannot help the tears that fall onto his neck. I kiss his skin and sigh in content, "I am so happy that you found me, my dragon."
"As am I," he hums, "and I will never lose you ever again."

“jeonghan, meet my sister, yn. don’t you dare hit on her now.” your brother, seungcheol, said to his friend who only smiled at you.
“nice to finally meet you, yn-ie. cheol told me how much of a supportive sister you are.” jeonghan stated as you stare up at him. today is november 13th, the day you finally met your brother’s so called “university best friend”. you only knew jeonghan from your brother’s talks and calls but never actually gotten the chance to meet him, until today. you knew from your brother that jeonghan was quite a “manwhore”, in your brother’s words. seungcheol was only a year older than you, already in his sophomore year in college, while you were still enjoying the gap year you were taking. you and seungcheol are practically twins, only you being more laid back than him. he was your only sibling and so are you to him, making him very protective over you despite your undeniably, small age gap.
“hey, it’s finally nice to meet you too. seungcheol told me a lot of things about you.” you said to the long, dark haired man infront of you. he gave a sheepish smile and raised his brows.
“great things, i suppose?” he slyly asked, earning a scoff from seungcheol.
“you wish.” seungcheol said as he plopped down on the couch, changing the show you were watching to a show he liked. you rolled your eyes.
“A LOT of great things.” you chuckled with jeonghan as you finally bid your goodbyes to stay in your room, letting your brother and his guest do their own thing.
november 13th isn’t only the day you met jeonghan, but also the day he captivated your heart. the day he hung out with your brother in your home’s living room, he suggested to go ice skating with seungcheol.
“i saw the nearby lake here while i was driving and saw some people skating, you wanna get some fresh air and skate? we can call yn too, if she wants.”
seungcheol agreed to do so when suddenly you came out of your room to grab a bag of chips from the kitchen.
“oh, yn! wanna come with us?” seungcheol asked you. you looked dumbfounded for a second, still continuing to grab your food.
“where? are you guys gonna kidnap me and sell me?” you asked as you take a chip and eat it. seungcheol flipped you off while jeonghan only chuckled.
“no? what the fuck? and if we did sell you, we’ll only get 5 bucks, max,” seungcheol said, earning a gasp from you, “but seriously, you wanna go skate with us? it’s at the lake near our neighborhood.” he said. you pondered but still agreed. seungcheol and jeonghan smiled.
“alright, you guys have your own skates, right? i have mine at the back of my car.” jeonghan asked as you and seungcheol said yeah.
“yeah, go get ready then, we’ll meet you in my car.” seungcheol said grabbing his keys and your guys’ skates. you ran to your room and fixed yourself up, coming to seungcheol’s car and sit on the back passenger seat.
arriving at the lake, you, seungcheol and jeonghan wore your skates and finally walked on the frozen lake. you stared at your own reflection on the ice as seungcheol scurried off, skating and laughing away. jeonghan was just right behind him when he saw you just standing and staring down. he skated back to you, only noticing his presence when you saw his reflection on the ice as well.
“you okay?” jeonghan asked you. you sweatdropped, embarrassed about what you were thinking about.
“yeah…” you said quietly. jeonghan stared at you softly and patted your shoulder.
“you sure? because just a while ago you looked like you were about to piss yourself.” he joked as you removed his hand on your shoulder, blushing in embarrassment from his words.
“no i did not! and i’m just a little scared since i haven’t skated in a while…” you admitted to him. he chuckled and suddenly grabbed your hand.
“come with me, i won’t let go of you until you’re comfortable skating on your own, yeah?” jeonghan comforted you as he skates further to the lake, hand in hand with you. you looked at your hand with his and looked back up to the back of his head. you pursed your lips and blushed.
“okay…” you quietly said, almost silently, only hearing the loud thumps of your beating heart. november 13th was the day your heart started beating for yoon jeonghan.
“merry christmas!” loud voices roared in the lit up room as you cheered gleefully. it’s been more than a month since you’ve met jeonghan, and tonight, december 25th, you finally saw him again. after exchanging gifts, a deep voice suddenly whispered into your ear.
“they’re a little bit crazy, huh?” your friend, wonwoo, said. you chuckled and lightly slapped his shoulder.
“don’t talk bad about your friends like that, wonu.” you said to him. you met wonwoo a month ago at a local game cafe. at first, you didn’t know who kept on beating you on a fighting game, considering you’re pretty good at them. until you got tired of losing for the nth time and walked up to the arcade stall in front of yours. there you saw a dark haired man with glasses, staring at the “you win!” sign on his screen. you walked up to him and he raised his head to look at you.
“you need something from me?” he asked you. you glared at him and looked at his screen.
“are you wonwonu96?” you asked with a glare evident in your eyes. he looked you up and down and nodded his head.
“you jjkl0vr? i beated your ass pretty badly in the past few games huh?” he teasingly asked, only making you irk more.
“well, i bet you’re cheating.” you retorted as he only shook his head.
“no, but i can show you a few tricks up my sleeve?” he asked and that’s what sold you to the mysterious man who kept on beating you on the game. you later on learned his name was jeon wonwoo and that you two were the same age. surprisingly, you two clicked as soon as the one sided beef simmered down in the game. you and wonwoo got dinner together and you later found out he had encountered something unfamiliar.
“you really had the hanahaki disease?! that’s fucking crazy, i’m sorry! it’s such a rare disease…did you tell them how you felt or got the surgery?” you asked him as you sipped on your hot chocolate. wonwoo sighed and took a bite of his ramyeon.
“i got the surgery. if i told them how i felt, i could’ve turned worse.” he admitted and you gave him a soft look.
“i’m sorry, wonwoo. you truly loved them…that means you forgot who they were huh? but hey! they do say there’s a lot of fish in the sea! or something like that.” you trailed off. you two ended up sharing numbers and became game buddies. after bidding your goodbyes and going home, you called your brother about what had happened.
“jeon wonwoo? i think he’s part of my uni’s esports club. yah! yoon jeonghan! you know a jeon wonwoo?” seungcheol yelled on the phone, asking jeonghan. you didn’t comprehend what jeonghan was saying, but hearing his distorted voice still made your heart beat.
“oh, really! just found out wonwoo is also a close friend of jeonghan’s younger buddies.” seungcheol spilled to you. you hummed as you lay down on your bed.
“but yn, i forgot to tell you but i’m coming back home for christmas break. jeonghan will be coming with me too, since one of his buddies is throwing a party. you wanna come with?” your brother asked you. you pondered.
“wouldn’t i be a nuisance though?” you asked your brother. you only met wonwoo today and now your brother wants you to come with him and jeonghan to a party of jeonghan’s friend? you suddenly hear shuffling in the background. your heart started beating louder when you heard the voice.
“you’re never a nuisance, yn-ie! and besides, i’ll be there! and so is wonwoo!” jeonghan said through the phone. you smiled and sighed.
“okay fine, what should i wear?” you asked him, hearing him chuckle and telling you that whatever you wear, you’ll still be pretty no matter what, earning a slap from seungcheol.
“i’m just saying yn, but how are you holding up? i know all of these guys are a little bit overwhelming and all.” he asked. you looked up at him and shook your head.
“i’m all good, meeting the other guys wasn’t actually that scary. i really like soonyoung, seokmin and seungkwan.” you said to your friend who chuckled.
“they’re the crazy bunch.” he said as he gets dragged by vernon, who told you that “you look a lot like seungcheol but prettier”, to play beer pong. you waved goodbye to your sighing friend and watched your brother and the other group play pool. seungcheol, jihoon, joshua and jun were chaotically playing as your eyes shifted to look for a certain dark haired male. not being able to find him, you sighed and continued drinking your cup of beer.
“you looking for someone?” someone said behind you and you flinched in surprise. you turned your head and saw the person you were looking for.
“jeonghan! you scared me!” you said to him holding your chest. he laughed and stood next to you.
“is that really the first thing you say to me after we haven’t seen each other in a month? wow, i thought you would say something along the lines of “jeonghan! i missed your pretty face, come kiss me!”” he joked as you blush. how the hell does he know about your tiny crush on him?
“crush? i don’t think so. you’re not my type.” you scoffed as he only looked at you with a smirk. he leaned in closer to you.
“your brother says otherwise.” he whispered. you blushed even harder and looked at him.
“shut up…” you meekingly said as he chuckles. he patted your head and put a hand on your back.
“did you like my gift?” he asked you as he pointed at the jewelry dangling from your neck. you held the moon shaped charm and nodded your head.
“i love it.” you said to him, as he smiled at you and held your hand.
“i’m glad, you wanna join us play pool?” he asked you. you nodded and looked over where wonwoo and his friends were.
“yeah, i don’t wanna get too drunk tonight.” you said to him and he shook his head.
“i get you. they’re a noisy bunch but i love them.” he said to you. you nodded and played pool with them. however, you got dragged by minghao, mingyu, chan and soonyoung to play beer pong with them. alas, you got really drunk after playing with them. minghao kept on insisting you to allow him to cut your hair since he’s having a “vision”. you ran away from him and sloppily went to where your brother was, who was also drunk in his end.
“you’re joking.” you slurred as you see your brother slumped on the pool table with jun and jihoon taking photos of him. joshua was just laughing while jeonghan was cracking up on a couch. joshua pulled him down and put him on the couch, next to jeonghan and a girl he’s talking with. suddenly, you felt throat tighten up and your heart starts beating faster. you tapped jun’s shoulder and ask him where the bathroom was. he looked at you with concern and pointed the directions. you ran your way to the bathroom and let all of the liquor out of your system.
“yn? are you okay?” a familiar voice asked behind you. you were kneeling down on the cold tiled floor and looked back.
“i’m good, jeonghan. don’t worry! just drank too much for my own comfort.” you admitted. he kneeled beside you and started rubbing circles on your back to comfort you. you were sweaty and him being this close to you just made you feel even hotter. despite this awkward and embarrassing situation, you felt your chest tighten up and your cheeks heating up. jeonghan kept on rubbing your back.
“feeling better, angel?” he asked you in a comforting tone. you nodded your head. you stared at him with tired eyes and he looked back at you. you two were unseemingly close to each other. jeonghan cleared his throat and broke his stare. you sighed and leaned your head towards the arm you were propping up. you suddenly broke the silence.
“ever since i met you, i thought you were the prettiest man i’ve ever seen.” you drunkenly admitted to him. jeonghan only stared at you. silence filled up the bathroom, only your silent snores keeping the silence calm. noticing that you’re already asleep, jeonghan sighed to himself.
“and i’ve always thought you were the most beautiful person i’ve ever met.”
“jeonghan?” you said out loud while you were standing in front of the university’s office. you were sending some files for uni when you saw jeonghan walking with someone.
“oh, yn? are you starting uni soon?” he asked you. he walked up to you, saying a quick goodbye to the person he was walking with. you looked at the girl he was with as she walks away. you nodded your head.
“yeah, this fall.” you said to him, “how have you been?”
“i’ve been alright, but i kept on waiting on your text since new year’s night.” he chuckled as you slapped your mouth.
“oh god! i’m sorry! i was too drunk to remember i had your number!” you apologized to him as he only laughed at you and patted your head.
“it’s alright. here, put your number on my phone so i’ll be the one texting you.” he said as he gave you his phone. you nodded and put your number in his contacts. he smiled at you.
“i’ll call you when my class is over, yeah? i wanna hangout with you today.” he said as he waved goodbye to you. you blushed and slowly waved back at him. you shook your head and went back doing your business with the uni. since it was early in the morning when you saw jeonghan, you assumed he would be done by late afternoon, in which he called you.
“hey yn! where are you right now?” jeonghan asked in the phone. you were currently at a local library, trying to find a book that could keep you distracted from life.
“hi jeonghan! i’m just at evergreen’s library right now…” you trailed off, not really wanting to bring up what he said a while ago.
“oh, the library near the uni? i’ll pick you up, okay? i’ll probably be there in 5. see yaa.” he ended the call, you still blushing. you knew that you only had a crush on jeonghan just because he was mad pretty and handsome…but also because he might’ve been the sweetest yet teasing person you have met.
it’s just a small crush, you told yourself.
after pacing back and forth in the library, jeonghan finally called you telling you he was outside. you left the library and saw him in his car. he rolled up his window and revealed his blushed face, most likely from the cold. he was wearing a gray beanie and a red scarf. he turned his head towards you and smiled.
“cmon, get in.” he said. you get in the passenger seat and shyly sat in silence. he noticed your awkwardness and chuckled.
“hey, loosen up. i’m not gonna bite you or anything.” he teased. you smiled at him as he started driving. you were wondering where you guys were going.
“i know what you’re thinking, “where is this gorgeous man taking me?”, well we’re going to an ice sculpture show downtown.” he said with a smirk. you laughed at his words.
“whatever, but i didn’t know tonight was opening for the show…” you pondered. you have always loved ice and snow shows. you stare at the snow falling on the car’s windshield.
“mhm, seungcheol didn’t wanna come so it’s just us for tonight.” he said. your smile faltered for a second, but kept a focused gaze on him.
“that’s too bad. he also loves ice sculpture shows, especially when we were kids.” you said. this caught jeonghan’s attention.
“also? so you love ice sculpture shows?” he asked as you hummed.
“yeah, i just love how people get creative with their works, especially on ice.” you said as jeonghan hummed in agreement. you and jeonghan soon arrived downtown and walked together to the ice sculpture show. there were families and children taking pictures of the sculptures. you looked at the scenery in awe, with bright lights shining through the sculpted ice. the two of you walked around the show and you stopped when you saw a sculpture of a laying woman surrounded by carnations.
“it’s so beautiful…” you whispered to yourself. you were standing still in astonishment of the ice sculpture, not noticing jeonghan’s gaze on you.
“she is.” he quietly murmured. you kept on admiring the sculpture more when you finally noticed jeonghan getting closer to you. you averted your gaze to him and saw him gazing at you as well. you gulped.
“it’s a wonderful piece, isn’t it?” you asked him. the closeness of your body and his providing the both of you warmth in the winter of january. he took a breath out of his mouth.
“mhm, it is. artists are crazy talented.” he complimented, finally looking at the artist statement.
“if you were a sculptor, what would you make?” you suddenly ask him. he looked at you and wondered for a moment.
“hmm…i would probably sculpt the most beautiful person i know…or just sculpt a bunny.” he said, giggling at his last statement. you looked up at him in awe and giggled as well. his eyes softened.
“what about you, yn? what would you sculpt?” he asked. you only looked back at the sculpture.
“i would probably sculpt something meaningful to me…i’m not too sure, to be honest. i’m more of a poet than an artist.” you admitted to him. jeonghan looked at you in shock.
“ohoh! i didn’t know you were into literature and stuff like that! what’s your favorite book?” he said in awe. you lowered your face in shyness.
“i was literally just at the library a while ago, jeonghan. but yeah, i love reading and writing. i guess i could say it’s a passion of mine.” you stated. he kept his gaze on you as you kept talking, “my favorite book right now is i would say…hmm…meet me in another life? hmm yeah.”
“say, if you ever write something, like a story or a poem? would you let me read it?” he suddenly asked you, which made you instantly look at him. your eyes flickered with a glint of excitement. no one except your brother wanted to read any of your works.
“you serious?” you asked him cautiously, your heart beating faster. he nodded his head.
“why would you think i wasn’t serious?” jeonghan asked. you widen your eyes, wandering your gaze just to lose contact of his.
“dunno…but yeah, sure.” you said shyly to him. he only kept looking at you when he suddenly touched your nose. you flinched.
“what the hell, man! what was that for!” you squirmed as he just laughs.
“your nose was pink from the cold! you looked too cute.” he said with a teasing smile. you blushed furiously as you just huffed. the cold breeze of winter hitting your face only made you shiver. you dressed comfortably for today’s weather, yet somehow, you were in need of warmth. jeonghan saw your shivering state and walked to you. you looked up at him when suddenly you were being wrapped in a red scarf, your lower half of your face being covered. jeonghan giggled at the sight of you.
“you look cute.” he simply stated. you pulled his scarf closer to your face and averted your gaze, being able to smell the floral and pine scent on the scarf.
“thanks, jeonghan.” you whispered. he hummed as he looked at you, almost lovingly. all of a sudden, people started gathering around.
“mom! look! it’s the northern lights!”
“open your camera! this is like a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the aurora!”
you and jeonghan looked up and saw the dancing pink and blue lights in the sky. hints of brilliant purple and blue danced the night away from the night sky. you heard jeonghan sign in awe of the sight. you glanced at him and made eye contact with him. he smiled at you.
“beautiful isn’t it?” he whispered. you looked at him and shifted your gaze back to the sky.
“hm, it is.” you hummed. you and jeonghan stood close to each other, watching the lights sway. your fingertips touched, making your hand flinch away from his. when he hook his pinky onto yours. your breath hitched, your head looked towards him. he was still watching the aurora. you smiled softly and turned your gaze back to the lights. the sound of children cheering and people being in awe filling your ears, but not overpowering the sound of you and jeonghan’s synced heart beat. january 11th was the night you came to terms with your feelings, that you were in love with yoon jeonghan.
“oh, you’re back. how was it?” a voice asked as jeonghan entered his dorm room. jeonghan looked up and saw seungcheol laying on his bed. jeonghan removed his coat and beanie as he looked at himself on the mirror beside seungcheol’s bed.
“it was great. we even saw the northern lights tonight.” jeonghan said to seungcheol, who grumbled in annoyance.
“really? god, if only i didn’t have to do so much work load tonight, i would’ve been able to see it. did you guys took photos of it?” seungcheol asked. jeonghan nodded and gave seungcheol his phone, revealing the photos. seungcheol scrolled through the photos when suddenly he saw a notification.
yn-ie 🐰: i had a great time tonight! thanks for bringing me back home
yn-ie 🐰: i hope you have a goodnight sleep, sweet dreams :>
seungcheol stared at the notification and looked at jeonghan, who was now getting ready for bed. he softly smiled at his best friend.
“han.” seungcheol called for jeonghan. jeonghan turned his head towards him and got his phone back.
“yeah?” he asked. seungcheol sat up on his bed to face jeonghan.
“you like yn, don’t you?” he suddenly asks the long haired male. jeonghan was now staring at seungcheol with shock evident in his eyes. he averted his gaze away from seungcheol, not giving him an answer. seungcheol only sighed.
“don’t hurt her, please,” seungcheol begged, “i can tell that you like her. i don’t mind you dating my sister, but please just don’t hurt her. you know she has that condition.” jeonghan looked at seungcheol with seldom eyes.
“i don’t know, cheol. i’m scared that if i continue liking her, i might just end up hurting her. she’s so precious that i might even choose her over anything in the world. but i’m so terrified that loving her might break her.” jeonghan admitted. seungcheol looked at him with sad eyes. seungcheol breathed deeply.
“if you’re not so sure of your feelings for her, then don’t pursue her, don’t lead her on. you’ll just break her heart. do what your heart says, jeonghan.”
“goddamnit, wonu! how the fuck were you able to beat me there!” you yelled at your friend as you two sat on his couch. he laughed.
“i told you, don’t spam attack. god, you’re like the worst person to game with.” he joked. you held your chest and gasped.
“huh?! shut up!” you argued when suddenly you watched your character die again. you sobbed in annoyance. wonwoo just chuckled and rubbed your back.
“it’s gonna be alright. it’s just a game yn…here, let’s go get boba to cheer you up.” he said as he turns off the tv and grabbed you towards the door. you flipped him off, still following him towards his car, carrying a red scarf with you.
“add dorayaki to that. boba wouldn’t be enough for me to forgive you.” you said to him as he chuckled. today, february 2nd, you decided to stay at wonwoo’s for a day and decided to play against each other, as you two always do, but plans changed when you ended up throwing a tantrum, to him tending your tendencies. you two soon arrived at the boba cafe and started looking at the screened menus.
“i might get matcha brown sugar boba, what about you?” wonwoo asked you. you stared at the screen and pondered.
“i’m craving for some brown sugar cheesecake boba, oh and don’t forget my dorayaki.” you said. wonwoo nodded his head as he tells you to find a seat for you two. you walked towards the front of the cafe and sat on an empty seat. people were talking about their whereabouts as you stare outside the huge window of the cafe. suddenly, you saw a familiar face outside the flower shop, alongside another, hand in hand. your heart ached at the sight.
“jeonghan…” you whispered in your breath. after the date night with him at the ice sculpture show, has never then contacted you. you sighed. he got your number, yet didn’t even want to reach out to you. now you’re seeing him holding hands with the girl you saw at uni. you were stopped in your thoughts when wonwoo sat in front of you. he gave you your drink and pastry. you smiled at him.
“thanks, wonu. even though you keep on beating me whenever we play games.” you said as you took a sip of your boba. wonwoo chuckled.
“it’s no problem. and besides, you’ve been looking gloomier these past few weeks. anything bothering you?” he asked. you sighed and looked out the window, jeonghan and the girl still at the flower shop. you noticed them looking at carnelians and lilies. wonwoo noticed your silence and looked at what you were looking at. he looked back at you sadly.
“is it jeonghan?” he suddenly asked. you shifted your eyes to wonwoo and sadly hummed. he looked back at jeonghan.
“you know, that’s hwa-young. she’s one of those sorority girls at uni. she’s not all that to be honest.” wonwoo said as he took another sip of his boba. you suddenly looked at him in curiosity.
“she’s kinda a bitch too. i remember her telling vernon that he didn’t belong in uni. then seungkwan rocked her shit right after she said that.” you snorted at his statement. the girl, hwa-young, didn’t look mean at all, but you still believed wonwoo’s words.
“you’re joking? what happened to seungkwan?” you asked, now invested in the story. wonwoo smiled softly.
“got in trouble with the dean, and seungkwan’s reason was that what she said to vernon was racially motivated. god i remember laughing so hard when seungkwan got in trouble after that.” wonwoo laughed as you did as well. the rings of the bell of the cafe door suddenly jingled, stopping you two from laughing. there you saw jeonghan and hwa-young walking hand in hand, similar to the way you and jeonghan skated together. you pursed your lips. wonwoo sighed as he grabbed your dorayaki. you yelped and grabbed the pastry back, now grabbing your attention.
“that’s mine!” you said to him. wonwoo hummed.
“don’t worry about hwa-young, yn. she’s nothing but a piece of crap.” wonwoo reassured you as you just nodded your head. you kept your gaze outside as you finally hear the bells ring again. now you saw jeonghan and hwa-young leave with their drinks. your heart started clenching onto nothing and it made you breathe hard. you held your chest and wonwoo widen his eyes.
“yn, are you okay?” he asked concerningly. he looked around and grabbed your hand, “let’s get some fresh air, okay?” he suggested as he grabbed your drinks and pastry and went outside. the snow is still falling even though february has come to the new year. you breathed deeply as the cold breeze hit your face. you held the red scarf close to your face, feeling the warmth of nobody. wonwoo looked at you with concern as he pats your back, settling the drinks on an empty bench.
“breathe slowly, yn. there you go…you feeling better?” he asked as you nodded. you felt better but the tightness of your throat and chest didn’t leave. you breathe slowly, wonwoo helping you in the process. you looked up at him and smiled.
“thank you, wonwoo…i think we should get back to your place.” you suggested. he nodded his head as you two went back to his car. the ride back to his apartment was silent, but comforting. he helped you get out of the car and let you rest up on the guest bedroom. you felt helpless. helpless that you can’t do anything at all. helpless that you can’t even tell jeonghan that you love him. helpless that you’re so sure that you have lost him. you sobbed in silence, your throat tightening up in every breath you take. you laid in silence as the hours go, with wonwoo checking up you every once in a while. you opened your phone and opened your contacts. you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, your heart thumping on your chest. nothing’s going to happen if i don’t do anything, you thought.
you: hey jeonghan, can we talk?
you pressed send as you wait for a respond. not even a minute later, he replied.
hannie bunnie: yeah, where do you wanna meet up?
you: you know the children’s park near uni?
hannie bunnie: yeah, what do you wanna talk about?
you: i’ll see you in 10, thank you
hannie bunnie: ???
hannie bunnie: okay, fine, see you in a bit
you grabbed your coat and the red scarf he gave you. you smiled softly and left the room. wonwoo was at the kitchen cooking. he looked at you.
“you going somewhere?” he asked. you shook your head.
“just going for a stroll. i’ll be back in a few. see ya.” you said as wonwoo bids you goodbye. you walked towards the destination, staring at the snow on the ground. you huffed as the coldness striked you again. arriving at the park, you saw a figure by the swings. your footsteps approached the figure as he turned his head towards you. jeonghan looked at you and smiled softly. you didn't return the smile back.
“it’s been a while, yn.” he said as he sat down on a swing. you hummed as you sit down on the swing next to his. you two sat in silence in the cold winter. he suddenly cleared his throat.
“so how have you been?” he asked you. you scoffed and looked up at the sky.
“i’ve been good. all my paper for uni are getting finished soon. what about you?” you asked him, still looking at the sky, snow falling down your face.
“i’ve been okay too…” he trailed off. you were getting restless. you wanted to tell him how you felt now. but the tightness of your throat was stopping you. he still kept his gaze on you as you stared up. he sighed.
“yn, why did you want to talk?” he suddenly asked. you gulped, the words ready to be revealed stuck in your throat. you couldn’t say anything. you stood up and started walking away. this is embarrassing, you thought. you stopped in your tracks when you heard jeonghan’s footsteps behind yours.
“i just wanted to see you.” you said, your back still facing him. jeonghan scoffed.
“really? because your eyes says otherwise. what did you want to talk about, yn. be honest with me.” he demanded. you turned your body towards him and finally looked him in the eyes for the first time. he stared at your gaze that was full of fear and love.
“yoon jeonghan.” you said sternly. he breathed heavily as he looks at you with such immense emotion in his eyes. you closed your eyes and breathed deeply.
“i like you.” you said, almost a whisper being buried in the snow. jeonghan just stood in his spot, mouth agape. you looked into his eyes and there was a glint of hope, but soon disappeared. jeonghan closed his eyes and sighed.
“i’m sorry, yn…but i can’t return your feelings.” he finally said. your breath hitched, sobs and tears fighting their way out of your body. you composed yourself and you smiled sadly.
“that’s alright…thank you for hearing me out, jeonghan.” you said to him as he only stare at you in place, “we can still be friends though, right? a little crush wouldn’t hurt our friendship, right?” you said with a chuckle. jeonghan only looked at you with sad eyes.
“yeah, of course. i’m sorry.” he apologized again as you shook your head. you then started unwrapping the scarf from your neck and held it. jeonghan stared at it.
“i forgot to give this back to you then. here, it helped me keep warm.” you said, giving the scarf back when jeonghan pushed the scarf back to you. you looked up at him. he smiled softly.
“you can have it. if i can’t keep you warm this winter, that scarf will.” he said. you smiled softly and turned your back to him.
“again, thank you for letting me feel this way. i hope you have a good night, jeonghan. be safe.” you said your farewell as you started walking away, not looking back as the tears finally released itself. jeonghan watched your moving figure walk away from him. his heart stings but shakes it away.
“be safe, yn.” after walking away from the park, you fell to the ground and sobbed. the feelings you were tucking away from everyone has now come out. you cried as tears kept flowing down your rosy cheeks. you knew the consequences of your actions, but now being able to feel what you were thinking hurts more. you stood up from the snowy pavement and started walking towards wonwoo’s apartment. your sobs and heartbeat were the only things you could hear. nearing the apartment, you suddenly feel your throat tighten up, making you feel sick. you ran to wonwoo’s apartment door and knocked furiously. wonwoo immediately opened the door as you rush to the bathroom. you fell down to your knees as you throw up in the toilet. your throat burned from the sensation, almost feeling being pricked by thorns. your tears blurring your vision, not being able to see things clearly.
“yn…who was it?” wonwoo asked behind you, rubbing your back in circles. you shot your head up in curiosity.
“what do you mean?” you asked him, voice hoarse. wonwoo held you in his arms.
“roses. you threw up roses, yn. who was it?” his voice stammered as your eyes widen. you blink the tears away and looked at the toilet. there it was, full of rose petals, some even in full bloom. you felt sick and threw up again. wonwoo held you close. you only sobbed in his arms, not being able to answer him. february 2nd was the day your heart screamed roses.
“happy valentines!”
“happy valentines and birthday, jaehyun!”
“aw thank you! have you seen jungkook though?”
the university campus roared as valentines day filled the whole university. seungcheol stared at his friends at their lunch spot. every single one of them got valentine gifts, including him. he watched mingyu and soonyoung argue who got the most chocolates. he chuckled at the two. only one person was missing in the group. seungcheol turned his head towards joshua, who got a handmade gift and chocolate from his girlfriend. he nudged his friend.
“where’s jeonghan?” he asked the auburn haired male. joshua looked around and raised his brows.
“he told me he would be here in a few minutes…it’s been almost 20 minutes.” joshua replied. seungcheol facepalmed as he ate one of the chocolates he was given. suddenly, seungcheol was tapped by the shoulder, he looked behind him.
“oh, yuta. what’s up?” he asked the long red haired male behind him. yuta sighed in exasperation.
“jeonghan got stuck with his fangirls. he told me to tell you guys before he got engulfed in chocolates.” yuta said as he walked away, not giving seungcheol time to get up. joshua heard yuta and came with seungcheol. the others just stared at the eldest and shrugged it off, continuing to bicker. wonwoo, however, just looked at the two with gloomy eyes. mingyu looked at his friend.
“is something wrong, wonwoo?” mingyu asked. wonwoo shook his head.
“it’s nothing.”
seungcheol and joshua followed yuta through the halls and saw a group of girls surrounding someone, assuming it’s jeonghan. yuta sighed when he saw someone in the crowd.
“oh, hyungs!” he called out. the person turned around and waved his hand. seungcheol and joshua followed yuta to his friends.
“oh, i remember being in sophomore year and getting lots of gifts!” the red head said to the group of boys. the other male next to him agreed.
“yeah, i got lots of chocolates back then. too bad we’re depressed juniors now.” the raven haired male joked. yuta laughed as seungcheol and joshua chuckled. the raven haired male suddenly looked at the two.
“oh hey, cheollie and joshie” he said. they both greeted him back.
“hey, hobi hyung, jongin hyung. do you think you two can help us get our friend out of that swarm of ladies?” joshua said, earning a laugh from the two older males. jongin nodded his head and suddenly pushed through the crowd, hoseok did the same. yuta watched in awe while joshua and seungcheol watched in fear. just what the hell are they doing.
“hey!” hoseok suddenly yelled, “i have photos of jungkook shirtless! come to me if you wanna see them!” he said as he started running away when the girls started chasing him. jongin held jeonghan in place, preventing him from being trampled over. yuta laughed at the scene. jongin brought jeonghan back to his friends and smiled proudly.
“here you go, now i gotta get hobi back…see ya!” he said ss he chased his friend with the other girls. yuta chuckled and followed jongin. joshua and seungcheol just looked at jeonghan in disappointment. jeonghan raised his hands in defense.
“i didn’t do anything wrong!” he defended. seungcheol just looked at him in annoyance.
“yet you still let them surround you like that? god, hannie you need someone that’ll knock the sense out of you.” joshua argued as they started walking back to their spot. joshua and jeonghan filled up the silence as seungcheol just walked in front of them. they went back with their group and seungkwan finally clapped his hands.
“i have an announcement to make!” he said as he was pulled down by seokmin.
“sit down!” seoksoon said as seungkwan just glared at them. minghao chuckled.
“jungkook hyung is holding a valentines party tonight. he told me this morning that we’re welcome to come and i guess since we don’t have any plans for tonight, for some reason because we ALWAYS have plans during valentines, we should go.” he stated. the rest of the group stared at him when jun broke the silence.
“i think we should go.” he suggested. the others started agreeing then. seungkwan cleared his throat again.
“he also said if you have a date, bring them with you.” he added. the group agreed and started naming people they were bringing, while some said they would rather just get drunk tonight at the party.
“joshua, are you bringing your girlfriend?” seungcheol asked. joshua nodded his head.
“you?” joshua asked, seungcheol also said yeah. the two then looked at jeonghan, who glanced at them.
“what?” jeonghan asked the two males. joshua sighed.
“are you bringing anyone tonight at jungkook’s party?” he asked. jeonghan sighed and shook his head.
“nah…” he answered. however, minghao heard him.
“you’re not bringing your precious hwa-young with you?” he retorted. seungcheol raised his brows on his statement. jeonghan rubbed his eyes.
“me and hwa-young are just friends.” he argued back to minghao, who pulled back away from his seat.
“okay, okay, i was just saying because you two are getting awfully close to each other.” minghao said as he pondered for a moment. he then looked slyly at jeonghan.
“what about yn?” he asked. seungcheol made a face at minghao who just chuckled.
“hey, i mean, your sister is SOOO pretty and sweet, hyung. jeonghan hyung, if you’re not going with her, can i?” minghao teased as he got hit on the shoulder by seungcheol, who was also chuckling.
“my sister isn’t a toy that you can just pass around.” seungcheol defended you. minghao pouted and talked with jun and dino instead. he then looked at jeonghan.
“are you bringing yn?” seungcheol asked jeonghan. jeonghan’s breath hitched. he just shook his head no, when suddenly a voice came in.
“i’m bringing yn with me, is that okay, seungcheol?” wonwoo announced in the group. everyone suddenly went silent and looked at wonwoo, even seungcheol was surprised, even though he knew you and wonwoo are getting to the stage of being best friends. everyone was now looking at seungcheol, waiting for his answer.
“yeah, you can. you don’t have to ask permission, she’s your friend. i’m just her brother. he answered. he felt jeonghan on his side tensed up on his answer. wonwoo hummed in satisfaction as they all continued talking again. seungcheol looked back at jeonghan.
“jeonghan, did something happen between you and yn?” he asked. jeonghan didn’t answer. seungcheol sighed and slumped back on his seat.
“hyung! did you really sell photos of me shirtless?!”
“yah, jungkookie, i was just doing business, that’s all!”
“that’s pretty funny, hobi hyung. i should’ve seen it.”
“what the photo or hobi hyung being trampled on by those students?”
“the photo so i could burn it.”
“there’s a lot of people here, wonu…” you said in between coughs. wonwoo held you close to him.
“it’s okay, yn. and besides, we’re all friends here. we’ll go to my buddies and we'll stay there, okay?” he reassured you. you were wearing a mini dress with a bedazzled handbag. you were terrified that you might accidentally throw up and cause a scene, not with vomit but with flower petals. you nodded your head as you walk towards the 97’s of the group. seokmin greeted you with a hug.
“yn! i haven’t seen you in a while! we should’ve exchanged numbers so we could talk!” he enthusiastically said. you nodded your head with a smile.
“i know, seokminnie! hey minghao! mingyu!” you greeted your friends. they both hugged you and told you how their day was. wonwoo tapped you on the shoulder.
“i’m gonna go with soonyoung and the others real quick. will you be fine by then?” he asked. you nodded your head.
“yeah, i think so. i have them here so i think i’ll be fine.” you said as he pats your head and walks away. the three just watched the interaction. mingyu sighed.
“i wish i had my own wonwoo…ah, wonwoo…” he groaned as you laughed.
“you’re so silly, mingyu. you can have him.” you said as he chuckled. you four talked for a while when someone wrapped their arms around mingyu’s neck.
“yah, mingyu-ah! can you believe it! hyung sold my shirtless photos…only for 10 bucks! am i really that cheap!” the brown haired male groaned to his tall friend. minghao stifled a laugh while seokmin just laughed hysterically.
“ah, really jungkook? i would say those photos are just around 5 bucks…hoseok hyung was being generous…” mingyu teased the male when he looked at you.
“oh hey! i haven’t seen you around! i’m jungkook.” he introduced himself. you smiled at him.
“hi, i’m yn. it’s your party right? it’s fucking crazy.” you complimented as he hides his face with his hands.
“oh you flatter me! well it was nice meeting you- oh yugyeomie! bambam! you guys are late!” he yelled, walking to the guests who just arrived. you stared at the man in awe while mingyu looked at you.
“he has that effect on people. i swear he’s like…edna mode.” he said as you, seokmin and minghao just stared at him.
“what does that even mean?” seokmin asked. mingyu shrugged his shoulders as he took a sip from his cup. you suddenly felt your phone vibrate and took it out of your hand bag.
wonuuu: saury but kwan dragged me to play beer pong
wonuuu: might get drunk idk stay with kyeom or hao, gyu is too crazy for you
wonuuu: 🕺🏻
you laughed at his texts and showed them to your friends, who laughed at it. mingyu grumbled.
“guys, be honest, am i too crazy?” he asked you three. you felt bad since the tone in his voice actually sounded sad, but this feeling disappeared when minghao said “yes” in a millisecond. you three laughed while mingyu faked cried, with you comforting him. suddenly, minghao stopped laughing and nudged seokmin’s elbow. he looked towards the distance. you followed where he was looking and almost regretted doing it so. jeonghan was walking with hwa-young, with his hand on her hips. you could feel your throat tightening up again. mingyu saw you and held you close. you gulped. minghao looked at you in concern.
“yn, are you okay?” he asked you. you nodded your head. seokmin walked next to you and comforted you as well. he could tell that you suddenly looked uncomfortable. you breathed heavily when you saw the two walked up to you four. hwa-young was greeting the three males, not even giving you a single glance, whereas jeonghan was looking at you, almost regretful in his eyes. you held on to mingyu, scared to move, scared that the flowers blooming in your lungs might come out of your throat. hwa-young noticed your hold on mingyu.
“who’s this? heyyy! i’m lim hwa-young! are you and mingyu dating?” she asked you. you gulped and shook your head no, your grip of mingyu only became stronger. you could feel it. you could feel the thorns blooming out of your throat.
“no, they’re not, hwa-young. and that’s yn, cheol’s sister.” jeonghan answered for you. you were in shock. minghao and seokmin noticed the tension between you three and stood next to you. mingyu, on the other hand, was confused. being an athlete means you spend less time with your friends and more time with your teammates, meaning that mingyu had no clue why jeonghan brought hwa-young with him.
“why the fuck are you with him?” he suddenly blurted out. seokmin widens his eyes. you were frozen now. why? because the people surrounding you were now staring.
“huh? what do you mean “why am i with him”? he’s my date. right, hannie?” hwa-young asked the long haired male next to her. jeonghan didn’t say a word, but he only looked into your eyes. you looked back into his and sighed.
“right, hannie? i’m your date?” hwa-young asked jeonghan again, this time, he was out of his trance.
“oh yeah.” he simply said, pulling her closer to his body. mingyu just looked at him confused.
“but isn’t she a shitty person?” he deadpanned. minghao was now panicking, pulling his friend away from the scene.
“huh?! shitty person?! what are you talking about?” hwa-young argued when someone stepped in between them.
“YA’LL, LET’S KARAOKE!!!” jungkook yelled, everyone now distracted and started doing their own thing again. hwa-young scoffed and walked away from the scene. jeonghan tried to hold her hand but she shook it away. jeonghan just stood in his spot watching her walk away. seokmin held you as minghao held mingyu back, explaining some things he had missed. you watched as jeonghan’s hand held hers for a moment. you stared at his hand and back to his face, making sudden eye contact with him. you can feel your lungs about to burst, and so is your heart. jungkook, still between jeonghan and mingyu, looked at you with concern.
“yn-ssi, you look pale. are you okay? do you need to go to the bathroom?” he asked you. not being able to say anything, you nodded your head. jungkook told you the directions and tried to come with you, but you stopped him. you ran towards the bathroom, seeing a glimpse of jeonghan’s worried eyes. you accidentally bumped into someone as you ran. you looked up at the person and saw familiar, related eyes. seungcheol.
“yn?” he said as you just ran past him. you ran to the bathroom and closed the door. you kneeled down the toilet and cried out your tears. you threw up all the contents of your lungs. roses, petunias and daffodils filling up the toilet. you closed your eyes to calm yourself down when you suddenly thought of how jeonghan held hwa-young close to him, holding her waist, closer to his body. you felt sick and threw up once again, now red poppies, red carnations and mums coming out of your throat. you could feel the thorns of roses in your throat. you coughed once again and saw what you dreaded the most, blood. as you were throwing up, you didn’t notice the door being opened and closed again.
“yn…what’s this…?” the voice asked you. you refused to look at the person behind you. you sniffled as tears started to pour out. the person started walking to you and gasped.
“you’re fucking kidding…hanahaki…yn, who is it?” the voice asked. you shook your head no, refusing to say his name out of your mouth. the person kneeled next to you and turned your body towards them. you refused to look into their eyes. you can tell they were furious.
“yn! tell me! who is it!” they demanded. you refused when suddenly you hear them sobbing, matching yours. you finally looked into their eyes. red. same as yours. pain and regret in their eyes, tears flowing down their face. he held your face in his hands as you cried.
“is it jeonghan?” he asked. you looked at your brother and nodded your head weakly. his breath hitched and removed his hands on face. he was crying as hard as you are.
“why?” he asked you. you looked at him in confusion.
“what? what do you mean why?” you asked seungcheol. he looked into your eyes, tears still pouring out.
“why are you allowing yourself to suffer? does anyone else know? just how long have you been suffering?” he asked you. you were crying again, coughing up some petals as you go. you rubbed your eyes.
“2nd of february,” you sniffled, “was when it started. wonwoo first saw it.” you cried into the arms of your older brother. he sighed and held you close to his body.
“yn, you should get the surgery…it’s better to get it now since your condition isn’t bad-”
“no! i don’t want that! i would rather die than erase the memories of the person i love! i would rather watch from afar than forgetting his whole existence! i’m more scared of losing him than facing death.” you argued to your brother, pulling away from his hold. seungcheol’s eyes started to water as he blinks the tears away.
“what the fuck are you talking about! you would rather lose your own life for love? yn, please! think! no one wants you to suffer to death! i don’t want you to die! i’m your brother for god sake! we only have each other!” seungcheol cried, now kneeling beside you, cradling your weak frame. you sniffled.
“seungcheol, i’ve always made sacrifices for everyone…let me be selfish for once…please, cheol, just this once.” you begged seungcheol. you two sat in silence, your sniffles and hard breathing filling up the ambience.
“yn…you know i can’t do that. please, just consider the surgery. please, yn. i don’t want to lose my sister.” he held you tight in his arms as you both cried the night of valentines away, on the bloodied floor of red carnations.
“hey wonwoo.” you said weakly, as you put your book and pen on your bedside table. wonwoo sits on your bed, and looked at you with somber and concern. he held your hand as his lips pursed.
“hi yn…are you feeling any better?” he asked you. you and seungcheol talked to your parents about the unspoken disease you have caught 3 days after the incident at jungkook’s party. your parents held you tight the whole time you were talking about it. they wanted you to get the surgery but also wanted to respect your decision, so now, they’re giving you a week to make a choice, either get the surgery or keep living until your body cannot handle the disease anymore. of course, they thought they could convince you to take the surgery on the last day. but for now, you were resting.
“i’m okay, wonwoo. but it still hurts.” you said, pointing to your chest. wonwoo sighed and rubbed your hand.
“i know, yn…” he said, almost having to say more. you quirked an eyebrow.
“are you going to say more?” you asked the man with glasses. he only looked at you and patted your head.
“yn, take the surgery.” he said. you coughed and shook your head.
“i don’t want to forget jeonghan, wonu. you know that.” you admitted. his eyebrows knitted.
“but yn, look at me. i took the surgery for my sake, even i probably didn’t wanna do it before. i forgot who that person was. i forgot the person that i loved so much, yet i lived. i lived and now i have met people that are precious to me. yn, please, we, your friends, want you to live on. so does jeonghan, he wants you to live.” he admitted. you widen your eyes, despite your limited body mobility.
“jeonghan…said that? does he know?” you asked him weakly. wonwoo shook his head.
“he knows about your condition, but we didn’t tell him it was because of him…he told us how he kept on calling and texting you, how he wanted to talk to you more.” wonwoo said, patting your head, “but he wants you to live…your condition is getting worse day by day. please yn, live, live for us, live for jeonghan.” wonwoo pleaded. you only looked at his hand when you suddenly hear sniffles. wonwoo was crying. you hated seeing him like this. you held up your hand and patted his head. he looked up at you and you smiled weakly.
“if it means for me to get more boba and wins, i’ll live for all of you.”
“are you ready, yn?” your brother asked you as you lay down on the hospital bed. march 2nd was the day of your surgery, and the day your memories of yoon jeonghan will disappear from the world. you smiled sadly at him, feeling your body break down on its own, knowing that you’re already too weak to actually do anything but lay down. he told you that 12 of his friends will visit you before your surgery. the doctor has told you to rest for at least 24 hours before the surgery. now, you only have 5 hours left. suddenly, the door opened, revealing 12 guys. you smiled at them.
“YN!!” mingyu and seokmin cried out loud as they ran to your bed. you jolt in surprise as seungcheol smacked their sides.
“calm down!” he said to them. seungkwan, hoshi and dino came next and told you that you’re gonna have a good recovery and surgery, and that you don’t have to be nervous. by their tone, they were more nervous than you were.
“you’re NOT going to die, yn!” seungkwan said. you sweatdropped.
“hyung is right, yn-noona. don’t be pessimistic about it!” dino stated.
“yeah! just think like you’re going to the dentist or something!” hoshi enthusiastically said.
minghao, jun and wonwoo came next. jun cried to you telling you that he’s going to miss your pretty face, in which seungcheol had him in a chokehold. minghao told you that whatever happens, you will always be an important person and you have served a purpose. it made you wonder for a second if they thought you were going to die. wonwoo then held your hand.
“yn, i know that the surgery will be a success. just look at me,” he chuckled, “but i love you, as your best friend, and stay strong for the surgery.” he said and kissed your forehead.
jihoon, vernon and joshua then walked up to you and told you reassuring words.
“it’s going to be okay, love can be subjective, but it’s so powerful that only you can overcome it.” jihoon said to you.
“after the surgery, let’s go get boba and dorayaki. wonwoo hyung told me you love them. have a safe surgery, noona.” vernon told you as he smiled.
“tell you what, i’ll treat you after surgery as well. we can go wherever you want.” joshua reassured.
your brother only smiled at you, not really wanting to give you words after he just did a when you woke up.
“yn. whatever happens, when you start to forget who jeonghan is, as your brother, i’ll make sure to give the love you deserve and i’ll make sure you find the love you have always dreamed of. i love you. let’s live a long life, okay?”
you were still admiring your brother when you felt a presence by your side.
“jeonghan…” you whispered, almost silently. he smiled softly at you. he then looked at seungcheol and he nodded.
“i’ll let you guys talk. we’ll see you in a bit.” seungcheol said as he pushed the 11 boys out of your room. soonyoung suddenly yelled.
“but i still wanna talk to her!-” the door shuts as you and jeonghan stay put, eyes not looking at one another. he stood right next to you and sighed.
“i…didn’t know that you had it. i’m so sorry, yn.” he apologized. you finally looked into his eyes and smiled softly.
“it’s okay, really. i’ll forget them anyways.” you said to him. he stared into your eyes and placed his hand on top of yours. he opened his mouth.
“i guess so…” he sat in silence, trying to find the right words to talk to you. you looked up at him as he rubbed your hand.
“yn-ie…you don’t deserve this.” he said, now starting to caress your ill cheeks. you blinked slowly at him and hummed. you unconsciously nuzzled on to his hand. he smiled softly.
“even in your worst condition, you’re still the most beautiful person i’ve ever met.” he commented. you chuckled lightly when you suddenly coughed, carnation petals coming out of your mouth. he rubbed your back and comforted you.
“i look pretty terrible right now, thanks.” you said as you continue gazing at him. he brushed a strand of hair away from your face and held you.
“yn-ie…remember when we first met? the time when i helped you get back on skating?” he asked you suddenly. you nodded your head weakly.
“the moment i saw you, i thought to myself “there’s no way that’s seungcheol’s sister” because i thought you were so beautiful, as beautiful as a blooming rose.” he admitted. you looked at him sadly and pursed your lips.
“then i remembered what type of person i was. most of the girls i pursue, i just hurt them. i didn’t want to hurt you, you’re too precious for this world,” he said, now sobbing, “i pushed these feelings away, even when we went to the ice sculpture show, i tried so hard to push these feelings away. but the moment i saw your eyes shine watching the aurora, i just knew i…i love you. i didn’t want to admit to my own feelings, but deep down i knew i care for you.”
“ cheol told me how precious you are to him, and i don’t want to break you, so i pushed you away from me, so that these feelings i have for you disappear. it did, for a while, but when you confessed to me that one winter night, i felt so…guilty and angry at myself. so angry that i couldn’t even face myself the next day. so angry that i wasn’t able to come to terms with my own feelings for you. i was so angry that i tried to push these feelings away and try to pursue another girl.i wanted to be so selfish, so selfish to tell you that i love you. but i couldn’t…because i know i will only end up hurting you.” he finally finished, now he was looking at you teary eyed. you looked at him as tears come down your face.
“you love me?” you asked in a weak tone, coughing again, now roses and blood. jeonghan grabbed the sanitary kit to clean you up. you thanked him.
“of course, i did…i had to push the feelings away so i wouldn’t hurt you…” he said. you looked at him sadly.
“oh…jeonghan, do you ever wonder who caused me to turn out this way?” you asked him somberly.
“may i ask who it is?” he asked you. you chuckled lightly to his statement. he looked at you confusingly.
“what is it?” he asked you genuinely. you held his hand that was placed on your hand, you looked into his eyes.
“jeonghan, it’s you. you’re the one i love.” you confessed. his face has gone pale and his breath hitched. his eyes watered and blinked the tears away.
“oh my god…no…” he whispered to himself. you shushed him and held his hand. you smiled sadly at him.
“jeonghan…hannie…it’s alright. i love every memory we shared together. you were a wonderful experience.” you smiled at him. he cried as he held your face.
“i’m so sorry…i really am sorry.” he apologized to you. you could feel your heart beat slow down in the moment. you placed your forehead against his.
“don’t apologize, jeonghan. i guess we weren’t just meant to be together…” you quietly whispered. jeonghan raised his head to meet your eyes.
“what are you talking about, yn-ie?” he asked. you smiled up at him and held his hand. you coughed more and placed his hand on your chest.
“it’s not beating properly anymore. you feel it? even if i get the surgery, i’ll die anyways. hannie, i’ve come into terms with my feelings for you, and i’ve also come into terms that we aren’t just meant for each other. we hurt each other in ways that we show that we love each other. you love me yet you pushed me away because of past experiences, so that you could protect. i love you yet i loved you too hard and hurt myself in the process. maybe, just maybe, we were just meant to cross paths and nothing else.” you said to him, your voice breaking. jeonghan sobbed in your arms.
“so, this is it?” he asked. you nodded weakly. he interlocked his fingers with yours.
“you were everything to me, yn.” he whispered into your ear. you could now hear your heartbeat clearly, beating slowly.
“i love you, jeonghan.”
“i love you too, yn…i love you so much…can i kiss you?” you nodded. that day, march 2nd, the last thing you heard was your heart monitor beeping. that day, the last thing you felt was your first and last kiss with yoon jeonghan, the person you have loved and died for.
“let’s meet again, in another lifetime.”
“jeonghan!” a voice yelled. the said male turned around and saw his friend, “wait up!”
“what is it, cheol?” jeonghan said to his friend. his hair was now longer than it did 2 months ago. his friend, seungcheol, has dyed his hair in a new color, his sister’s favorite color.
“the guys want to go karaoke tonight. are you up for it?” he asked the long haired male. jeonghan nodded his head.
“yeah sure, i have to stop by at the library near uni though.” he said to his friend. seungcheol nodded his head and told jeonghan to just meet him at their dorm room. jeonghan walked towards the library and looked through sections per sections. he coughed every now and then, going through books that haven’t been read. seeing a glimpse of what he needed, he checked the book out. the librarian, she smiled at him.
“meet me in another life, huh? this is a great book. i’m surprised only you and another regular read this book. have a great time reading it.” the librarian said. jeonghan smiled at her. walking back to his dorms. he suddenly felt his chest tighten up.
god, not again.
he ran to the nearest bathroom and locked the stall. he kneeled down and poured out all of the contents in his stomach. he stared at the toilet bowl and sobbed quietly. he flushed the toilet immediately and went back to his dorm, as if nothing happened. what he didn’t notice was that red carnation petals fell on to the floor. on that day, may 2nd, yoon jeonghan will have the same fate as ln yn. bound to end the same, never bound to end together.

Hands that were trained, calloused once with bruises, prepared to be painted with blood now sat idle—a diamond ring in the finger.
Fate- the red string- two ends.
About 8 billion people walked the surface of earth—it was said, heard, stated, passed—The Greek god Zeus split each one of us into halves, punished to roam the earth and find our other half—the soulmate. Fatalism stated that everything was predestined- so it must be true, the concept of it.
Marriage—sacred, pure.
The day was clear as ever in your eyes—your father had entered the room, a solemn look on his face, a ring in hand; the entire month you had watched as the Gojos became a usual Tomorrow; you had watched as your sisters giggled at the premonition of your marriage; you had watched as the tables shifted and you had watched, and watched and watched.
Eyes numb, heart aching and mind a mess, you watched for that was all you could do now.
It was rushed, the whole process of it—a month ago your wedding planned and a month later you were gone. You didn’t want the wedding, you were sure Satoru Gojo didn’t either—“He’s so in love with you,” from your cousins deluded you—“I’m so lucky to have you,” from his mother.
Mind filled with thoughts of a man you’d only meet at the night of your wedding.
No amount of convincing could’ve been for you to utter a yes—but a definitive “You will do it,” from your father did wonders.
“You’ll be alright,” a whisper—your mother’s, soft, harsh.
“You have to be alright,” a demand—your father’s, careful, adamant.
“Promise me you’ll be alright,” a thought—your sister’s, empty, or so you dared to think.
And that was true, in a lonesome bind, you thought a lot.
You thought when your sister braided your hair, pretty, elegant—nothing you’d ever found yourself to be defined as.
You thought while your mother and grandmother, aunts and maids—they giggled, old wives’ tales falling off chastised lips like honey.
You thought when you found your father’s eyes hiding—nervous, you’d noted but you only thought.
And you thought still when the morning arrived, you sister kneeling beside you—eyes focused, narrowed, fingers working fast to smoothen the white.
Perfect the white.
Perfect your impure white—the dirty kind.
And finally, alone with your sister, you spoke.
“You must be glad,”
A silence met you, heavy.
“Don’t be shy about it, not anymore,”
A sigh— she got up slow, eyes focused still on your white gown—“you look gorgeous,” a mumble you heard.
You found yourself staring at her curls—when did she curl those you wondered, but then she’d answer that you didn’t care and perhaps, you didn’t.
Not usually.
“We’re sisters Aki,” you pestered, “you can tell me ya know?” You winked—a smirk, a tease—all to prove your point.
“The wedding is to begin in an hour now then, be prepared,”
“Don’t change topics. Tell me you’re happy about it, about all this,”
Another sigh—a glare and a huff, “Has father stuffed lies so deep your throat that you’re begging to hear them now?”
Again, silence.
Father—
Your eye twitched—nose puffed and eyes flared at your form in the mirror—you did you look gorgeous, or at least, different. A good different, arguably.
“Alright,” she mumbled quietly then, “c’mere—” her hands beckoned you close, her own navy blue contrasting to your pure white—ironic, you mused.
“What,” face scrunched, you let out—causing your sister to chuckle, “At least smile at your own wedding y/n,”
A scoff—“I’ll cry if I damn want to—and no, not for the dramatics,” a chuckle, this time, mutual.
“I’ll miss you,” you heard her whisper against you, entrapped in an embrace you stood, stiff—your eyes lay blank.
“Was it…my—”
“It’s not to chastise you,”
“It’s no less than that,”
“Endure it,”
A tear, quick, rolled down your cheek—wiped off all too quickly by your own sister—for you were to look perfect tonight.
Perfect for your perfect husband.
“Find your happiness there,” she whispered against your shoulder—you sobbed, “Why is he sending me away?”
Cruel. Cruel. Cruel.
“He sent us all away- even mother,” her hands patted your back- the touch felt foreign—“Not me,” your voice rasped, “I was different, I was better, I was the best he had,” her hands tensed around you—“I don’t know,” she confessed, “but promise me, you’ll be happy there,”
You nodded- empty.
“He’s going to be a fool in love,” her voice adorned, his mother- sharp- “So fortunate to get someone like you in my house, such a sweet pretty thing you are,” you smiled in accordance- hands clenched.
It was for her sake, you believed, the Gojo family worked in her shadow— a finger lifted meant everyone had to stand, a finger pressed and silence—in some way or the other, she stood to be your admiration. To hold power was to be nothing however to call power, now that, you admired.
It was in the way she was subtle but oh so glorified—Kana Gojo, perhaps the only woman or human you’d dared to look upto.
You smiled as she’d walked you around—parading shops through shops, looking for what she deemed the perfect dress—perfect, she wanted it to be—perfect not for her son but perfect in every sense of it.
-
A gift placed in your hand- bribe—“Aren’t you the sweetest Hm?” A smile, vaunted- his father, a careful spendthrift in every sense of the word.
You smiled, nodded and chuckled—“only learned from the best,” your eyes zoom over to your mother—never learned anything from her, you didn’t, and yet—formalities and a certain charm, you graced them evidently.
The head of the house, at least on paper—he didn’t hold much prowess with the profits but then, Gojos barely needed any more profit for the empire was built well and well enough to not crash. He did, however, hold his hands high and wide—welcoming, warm; everything his wife was not.
Not yin to her yang but the epitomised silver to her gold — Ginji Gojo, perhaps the only man to accustom himself to his wife, the only man you never truly could understand, along his son, of course.
You grinned as he lead you, hand held in his own—eyes searching for the perfect diamond to adorn not your finger but your marriage.
-
Shy glances and shyer hello-s he muttered, it was cute—you supposed, in the way a letter found is way in your hands—“Read it when you’re alone please,”—his cousin brother, innocent.
‘Hello,’ it began—cut off—‘Dear Y/n,’—cut off—‘assume I said something cool,’ you chuckled, the rest, a memory nestled deep in your mind.
He was young, 9–someone you hoped to inspire—Megumi—he didn’t know much, or anything at all, a subtle age of nine after all. But he knew enough.
Not enough to strike competition but smart enough to be called his successor; he was a smart kid you’d mused, a polite greet everytime you two met, a sweeter letter handed everytime.
Twice he cut off the beginning every time and deliberate you’d found it be—cuter still. And he lead you still, hand holding onto yours as he helped you decide on the flavour of the cake.
The girl, you watched from the corner of your eyes, chuckled, a hand reaching out to slap her father’s hand away—he chuckled, smiled, conversed—something and everything you never had.
A tear rolled down your cheek, salty—“Crying already?” The voice was gruff, your father’s.
“Father,” you muttered, hands reaching upto wipe the tear away quick—“Don’t,” he muttered, “Tears are useful.”
You could only nod.
The man stood beside you, taller by a decent inch or two—hands stuffed in his pocket and a bow tie tight around his neck; the man was slender— a ghost of the figure he used to be, could’ve been. A potential wasted, he called himself—a potential wasted, you too.
You watched him as he moved around you, hefty eyes felt heavy, scanning your form—“You look fine,” a compliment he’d deem it—perhaps it was, “Didn’t know white was your colour.”
It wasn’t.
Did he know anything about you? At all? No.
“Suppose it is, today onwards,” he smiled, you frowned, “That’s my girl.”
Another tear rolled quick, then another and they kept rolling, you stood blank.
“No,” you scowled defiantly—his hands working quick—scowl, mirroring yours as he wiped the tears—“When I said tears, I didn’t mean these many. You cannot possibly be this dramatic.”
An empty grin.
“Dramatic?” Voice pitched, brows raised, heart shattering you stared at him—“I am being dramatic?” Loud enough you were to have people raise the awareness that the bride was moody- or so they’d gossip and so you’d let them.
His eyes narrowed—a sign, quite usually telling you to quieten down—not today, “Why are you doing this?” You finally asked, shoulders relieved, heart heavier still—afraid the answer might me the truth you’ve fed yourself.
“Is this some- some-” you paused, a breath caught, eyes cast down—“punishment? Did I do something wrong?”
And in that moment, perhaps you were nothing more than a little girl—perhaps in that moment you wanted nothing more than your father’s reassurance—perhaps things could’ve been better.
But they weren’t—glory of fate itself.
“Don’t create a fucking scene,”
Had hearts really been made of glass, your father would’ve heard yours break—not once but a million times in that second. Again and again and again.
A noise—static.
“Yes sir,” you muttered, eyes dancing along his hands—you shuddered—he twisted his own.
-
His hands were soft as they held yours, he lead you slow, your father did.
The white veil that you’d spent hours to decide upon, the one you would never care about—it swept beside you, gasps escaping the lips of many as you walked out.
And there, there your eyes met his.
Poised he stood, white hair slicked back—nothing like those superficial memories his mother had told about, nothing like the tabloids you’d seen. This man, the one on your altar—that was Satoru Gojo.
Not the Toru’ you’d heard of, not the Heir of Gojos you’d kept your eyes upon, not the stubborn and hardheaded Satoru-san his maids had warned you about, not anything you’d known.
This was Satoru Gojo, your husband to be.
You hadn’t assumed your wedding to be a fairytale—in all honesty, you hadn’t assumed anything at all.
A prison you’d deemed it on the first day and perhaps that was all it was—but something, just something in you cried all too much when Satoru didn’t slip so much as a smile towards you.
Don’t get me wrong, he’d grinned and smirked all night- teased by his friends—congratulated by everyone—he did show joy, in some meaning of the word.
Not to you- but I suppose a win that was too—after all, a marriage is built on the truths right?
Eyes moist, a tear he did let go off—superficial it was, you knew it, but a hero Satoru Gojo would be deemed the next day in the magazines his family would pay good money to.
Yours was never meant to be that perfect wedding, not at the core of it—you knew that from day one of the sequenced wedding but then—just something, someone in you cried a little too. Just someone broke inside when you realised it wouldn’t be your husband who cried the moment he set his eyes on his bride—it wouldn’t be you telling those cute stories about your wedding day.
It wouldn’t be you—it was normal you’d heard, for grooms to be overwhelmed in there weddings- the thought of spending a forever with his bride, the supposed memories flooding their mind—but it wouldn’t be for you. He stood there with hands behind him, eyes awaiting you presence still.
A smile he held—empty as you joined him—eyes were very telling you r father had preached, never once had you found him to be wrong.
His hands felt cold as you held them—cold like your father’s, colder still somehow was his presence. And your realised, heart — to what you had thought to be a void — breaking as you realised that the marriage was a cage to him as much as you. Neither happy—he wasn’t happy with your presence.
Pathetic. But again, did it truly matter?
The wedding had begun— officiated, soon your “I do”s would slip, the wedding couldn’t be stopped now, not ever.
And in that moment your eyes flickered to your own mother—she stood regal.
Embroidery she’d fought into you, cooking and baking, sewing a skill she’d made you own too—pity she couldn’t teach you controlling your emotions—pity your father was your influence.
Your eyes managed to flicker onto him—saintly, your brain mused—your heart couldn’t help but agree. And those saintly features held an ugly heart you told yourself, solace to a lonesome mind.
“Satoru, do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect Y/N, forsaking all others, and holding only unto her forevermore?”
When he took a moment to answer with a blank gaze, you could feel tiny pricks being sent straight to your heart. Just a mere glance at his stolid mien was enough for you to believe that he was going to call off the wedding and run away—mayhaps you wanted that, mayhaps, you didn’t.
What else could you expect?
He clearly didn’t want this, understandable was the fact. It wouldn’t surprise you if he took a step back and announced that he couldn’t go on in making an oath to offer the rest of his life with you. That he would rather get out of this hell hole and be somewhere else than to proclaim a love that was being forced out of him.
“I do,” he professed, despite the inner turmoil that plagued his head.
You sighed—soft.
“Y/n, do you promise to love, honour and cherish and protect Satoru, forsaking all others, and holding only unto her forevermore?”
Your eyes were quick—a glance here and there and everywhere—the pause was heavy; you watched your father’s nod of encouragement—your mother’s sharp eyes—his mother’s smile, fake- his father’s sip of champagne—your sister’s eyes’ were hazy; his best friend tipsy.
You couldn’t say no—“I do,”
“Bride and Groom, you have heard the words of love and marriage, have exchanged your vows and made your promises, and celebrated your union with the giving and receiving of rings. It is at this time that I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant declared, “you may now kiss the bride.”
Your eyes widened behind your veil- your first- the breath hitched as Satoru removed your veil—crystal seemed his eyes, crystal clear was his distaste. He was tall—comical in fact—you tip toed slight, he leaned in a bit—the kiss was warm, chill, foreign. His hand rested upon your cheek, a stroke—a pull, brief.
Your eyes watched as he pulled away, a new smile on his lips—an actor he could’ve proven to be.
A million thoughts clouded you and him—known to only the two of you—marriage worked quick in that sense you supposed, mother and you sister weer perhaps right. But when all was said and done—the marriage was officiated.
And your eyes met then—a thought passed between you and your husband—stuck together—Unfortunately, Yours.
Hair slicked, ivory, elegant.
For a man who was yours even when he wasn’t—you supposed he was good.
Gojo Satoru swept across the room—a smile on his face, gentle; gentler was the rhythm he walked at. Here and there, he conversed, after all, a man of his charm he was- taking after none but his father.
Idle gossip danced along his ears while he giggled with women—politics fell off his lips as he sipped on the champagne—he teased and played with children too, laughing and joking with them—Gojo Satoru smiled to all but his wife-to-be. She sat there, quiet, unmoving, unrelenting—she lay still.
“It’s the fifth time you’ve stared at her in the last 3 minutes,” a glass in hand—a black suit adorned, Suguru waltzed beside him—a sly grin on his face, “I know you’re married but that’s really desperate, even for you,”
“Shut up,” Satoru muttered, grinning wide at the new set of guests—hand motioning the waiters to attended to it.
Suguru chuckled again, “Your dad really didn’t help out today either huh?”
“Old geezer’s getting drunk,” voice, plain—monotonous, hands clenched at his sides —begging to run through his hair—to ruin it all.
“How was she?”
“Boring,”
Suguru’s eyes zoomed on to the specific waitress—limping—he sighed, “Your mother was worried sick and you’re having affairs already?,” he began, hands reaching up to fix the shirt, “And today is your wedding today—have some etiquette,”
Eyes rolled—the same dialogue slipped off his mouth—“You’re becoming my mother—and she isn’t random; as is I’ll get her fired now,” he grinned this time around, “but not anymore, I’ve already got another woman to fuck around with,” a hand—sharp—landed on his head.
“Respect her,” the raven haired boy muttered, eyes focused and cast down, “She’s your wife today onwards—not just some woman you can fuck whenever you want,”
Satoru scowled, hands rubbing the back of his head, the spot where Suguru struck, “That’s all she means,”
“Don’t tempt me to make her a widow before she’s even married Satoru,” a grin, a huge one Suguru masked—words deadly balanced.
“Treat her well Satoru,”
“You marry her then,”
“Suck it up and smile,”
“Fuck you,”
“I will,”—a grin, a chuckle and that was that. A hand patted Satoru on the back—“Treat her well,” Suguru muttered again, both their eyes cast onto you—where a smile rested on both their lips, only one was genuine. Your eyes found tracing their oath to their spot too, black and white—they seemed a beautiful set—your eyes cast to your own gown and your sister’s. White and navy blue—all the same.
A couple and another, a pair of four.
Suguru let his eyes cast down to his watch—about time for the dance—“Satoru,” his voice was smooth, “it’s time for your dance,”
He hummed—“Her father, or I suppose mine too now—he wanted her first dance,” Suguru raised his brows, “and you let him? What happened ‘I don’t share’” A small smirk played on the younger male’s lips.
“I don’t share what’s mine—not all that-” another strike, harder.
-
Inhale, exhale- again.
You hands shook, and ears ringed—you were married. The statement related in your mind for the 5th time since.
Married. Tied down.
“Entertain me with the first dance m’lady?” Your eyes narrowed—sharp—“Father?”
Beside you stood you father indeed, an aura different—an aura that had become his past.
He smiled, kind—your confusion only grew—“It’s time sweetheart,” Your teeth clenched; sweetheart?
You nodded still—be his good girl—his hand held yours; yours, his.
The music was slow- none that you recognised, you needn’t, you’d want to forget the moment already. The applause for you was blurry, everything around you was too. Eyes didn’t bother running off to your mother, nor your husband—they never did around your father.
And in the moment, you could’ve sworn to the vain memory you held—your father seemed like the man you once knew; seemed like the one who had abandoned you. Rage seized a decent part of your mind—desperation to hold onto him took charge of the other.
He held you close- an embrace not felt in forever, “You’ll be fine baby,” he mumbled into your ear—“don’t say that,” you were quick to add.
“Don’t be like this,” you added next, his heart broke, yours already was.
He knew however, what you meant- not a single objection he raised, guilt all too evident on the face that held its own wisdom. Evident however, only to those who knew him and pity lay such, he never let you.
“Just entertain me here,” you finally spoke—a minute left of your song—“why did you agree to this? We’re not- we’re not in need of money, we’ve the perfect military- you’ve raised me enough for me to take over at any given instance then why—why them?”
His gaze should’ve hardened—you expected it; it softened.
“I apologise.”
You nodded yet again- an answer unkempt.
-
Satoru’s hand felt the same it had the altar, soft, scented- something you perhaps wanted to hated.
He spun you around—a man of honour your mother would call him, you beckoned yourself to him—a lady of grace his mother would call you.
People danced all around you, your eyes found their way onto your sister, smiling and giggling—suitors all around her, you smiled.
Eyes couldn’t help but falter at Suguru Geto- Satoru’s best friend, you’d learned—his presence too. In a shy corner he stood- girls around him, you wouldn’t blame them—he sought that attention after all, evident.
“You like this song?” Your eyes snapped onto Satoru—“Pardon?”
“This song, do you like it?” Your eyes gazed everyone—all the while, his, you.
“I’ve…never heard it before—”
“—well I particularly hate it,” your brows raised—“Oh alright,” you nodded, “I’ll make sure to not add it to the playlist ‘Wedding 2.0’,”
Smiles you both held- not for each other, formal entirely—“Hilarious,” he muttered, “Makes two of us,” you snapped back.
A momentary silence fell and you couldn’t yourself—“Don’t try to play the husband here, you don’t accept me and I don’t accept you which is all but fine by me but I don’t need you to make idle conversations.” Voice sharp- eyes more so.
He grinned—“Feisty Hm?” Your nose flared—“alright I’ll entertain you with the non-idle kind,” eyes looked down at you condescension, was it?
“Daddy raised you as his war general yeah?” Your jaw clenched, “what did they call you? His right arm? His best gem?”
“Domestic abuse,” you began slow, “is a very real concept Satoru,” you smiled dangerously sweet—“Pray tell, the way you speak may make you victim soon,”
He chuckled quietly, nothing humorous, “Daddy also taught you weaponry?”
“Don’t speak of him like that-respect him,” you warned, teeth gritted—both of yours eyes zooming onto him—Satoru smiled.
“Of course, nothing against my father-in-law,” another grin, “But I can say whatever to you right baby?”
You hated him.
Your eyes scanned his, his- yours.
A frown, a grin.
A cough sounded beside you just then—the man just as tall as your husband, just as, if not more so, elegant.
Your eyes met his—a pit, yours and his.
“M’lady,” he smiled smoothly- bending just enough to kiss your hand—eyes cast quick onto Satoru, “One dance with the lady of the night please?”
Never a question, only a statement.
“Yes please,” Satoru muttered all too quick- a sharp glance, yours and Suguru’s.
Before you knew it you were swept right away, Suguru danced faster—a style which complimented yours, Satoru? Quiet the very same as yours, clashing.
You smiled as he picked the momentum with you, a chuckle his too—“You look stunning tonight,”
A nervous smile you passed-“All the very same to you sir,” his eyes crept onto your skin quick—“Why, seems like it’s just the two War Generals appreciating each other,” he laughed.
You laughed along- your eyes pausing to scan the hilt of his dagger in the suit—“Talent sees talent, eh?”
Another laugh- empty. What had swept you off was pleasant, what danced with you was hollow.
“The wedding,” Suguru added—your ears perked.
“Yes?” You reflected instantly—“You helped in the management right?” He smiled—your eyes narrowed.
Bastard, you both mused.
You nodded politely, “Well a good wife has to take care of things yeah?”
He grinned, “Oh you’re all too good m’lady,” voice a whisper, “Seems to me you’ll give me a run for my life,”
You grinned back, “Bless my heart Suguru—never to my family.”
Eyes hollow, minds ran fast—‘Interesting’ you both wondered as Suguru handed you back to his best friend and your husband.
‘Interesting indeed’.

Proposta - Part 1
Shuri Udaku x Princess!Reader
The sun had just risen in the sky of the Baku Empire. The capital of the African country was bathed in the yellow and blue sky. The chambers of the princess of Baku were empty, the heir to the throne was, as always, beginning her tasks for the day. The first being the training room, to perfect your fighting skills with your general,Enek. Meanwhile, his mother waited on her throne for a visit that could change the course of Baku forever.
The Queen of Baku was sitting gracefully in her throne room, the breakfast table set with various foods for not only the Queen, but her children. Anela enjoyed her corn cake, while Aki drank her morning juice. The queen faces her youngest daughter and her middle son, the presence of her eldest heiress being missed.
“Where is Y/n?” The woman's voice breaks the calm silence of the morning.
“Training, Your Highness…” His faithful advisor, Nali, responds.
“How does this girl think about training without at least eating something?” the queen asked worriedly.
“She ate, my queen. It was in the kitchen in the early hours of the morning.”
“How active your sister is sometimes worries me, honestly.”
“You should be used to it by now…” Aki smiled at her sister’s antics.
“She will be a great queen, but she still needs to learn to be careful with herself.” Anela shrugged.
A few more moments of silence followed, before Nali received a message from the imperial guards.
"My queen? Shuri Udaku, ruler of Wakanda has just arrived at the border.”
“Is the queen of Wakanda here?” Anela sighed excitedly.
“Why are you so excited, girl?” Aki grumbled.
“Maybe because the queen of the most powerful kingdom on Earth is here?”
“You forget that we are also on this podium, don’t you?” Akiza rolled her eyes. “After all, what is she doing here, mom?”
“Shuri requested a meeting with me two days ago.” The black woman responded as she stood up. “Let it in, Nali. And please clear the table.”
“But I'm not finished yet…” Aki sighed dissatisfiedly.
“Who told you to fool around with food?” Anela sneered.
Soon the queen of Baku found herself sitting on her throne, her two sons at her side and once again, without the presence of the heir to the throne. It didn't take long for the vibranium doors to open and the queen of Wakanda entered with all her confidence.
Shuri admired the kingdom of Baku, from the outside of her ship, it could be seen that the unknown kingdom a year ago was not far from what would be Wakanda. Huge technological buildings and houses with futuristic design surrounded the then Baku castle. The queen of Wakanda was taken towards the throne room as soon as they landed. Walking through the doors, which Shuri did not fail to notice were made of vibranium, into the huge hall, Shuri looked at the queen of Baku, the woman was wearing gold and brown clothes, extremely well cut and aligned, her wrinkles and her expression of seriousness and confidence reminded her of her late mother. The queen had a crown that resembled those of Pharaohs, her golden throne, necklaces, the entire enclosure, would resemble objects from the culture of ancient Egypt. Something that heightened curiosity to discover this new kingdom whose existence no one knew about before. He then noticed, at his side, two teenagers, who according to his research should be Princess Anela and Prince Aki.
“Your Highness…” Shuri greeted, her eyes staring intently at the woman in front of her.
“Queen Shuri…” the Queen of Baku waved back. “To what do I owe the honor of visiting the ruler of Wakanda?”
A little hesitantly, Shuri sighed before saying the following words. “I came here to ask for your daughter’s hand as a wife.”
Direct and firm. Shuri watched as surprise appeared on the faces of the queen and her children. Mainly your children.
“Did I hear you right?” The woman on the throne slowly stood up. “Are you asking for my daughter’s hand? But which one?”
“Y/n, your first daughter.” Shuri continued confidently.
The Queen of Wakanda was surprised that she wasn't expelled within the next thirty seconds. This meant that the queen could consider the proposal.
"Do you know her? Have you ever seen her?” The queen asked curiously.
“No, Your Highness.”
“Then why do you want to marry my daughter?”
“My subjects want me to marry, but to someone who deserves the crown of Wakanda. There is no one better than the heiress of your kingdom, who has the same principles and coincidentally the same vibranium.” Shuri didn't plan on stalling with her proposal. The objectives were obvious, there is nothing to dispute. Even the Queen of Baku knew this. “It would be a perfect alliance, the two most powerful kingdoms together.”
The Queen of Baku considered the idea for a moment. The eyes looked at Shuri with even amusement. Everyone in the room was impressed with that woman's courage, perhaps not what Shuri thought, however. Only someone so brave would make such a proposal to the crown princess of the throne.
“Unfortunately, I am not a queen who decides who her children will marry…” The woman began, her face serious as she stared at the Panther. “This is Y/n’s decision alone. However, what I can do is introduce youtwoand you ask her the question directly. I can’t guarantee she’ll accept it, far from it, but who knows, maybe you’ll be lucky, darling.”
The woman sat down again, but not before asking Nali to call you. Her brothers stared at Shuri with mocking smiles, the same thought about the humiliation the princess was about to go through for daring to ask for her hand out of the blue.
It doesn't take long for you to appear. The doors open to reveal her beautiful and glorious figure. A two-piece burnt brown cloth covered her body, her upper part was covered by a brown leather skin-tight top, leaving her shoulders uncovered, reaching halfway down her abdomen. A linen battle skirt hugged her waist, with a larger tie across her thighs. Her feet are bare, soft hazel skin glistening with sweat, African braids loose and falling down her bare shoulders. You stared at Shuri with intense black eyes, assessing her casual but elegant clothes, African cloth pants with a shirt in the same style, African designs in gold, a haircut shaved on the sides letting her curls fall into her face. His disinterested gaze wandered vaguely over the slender curves of the unknown but well-known woman.
“Did the queen call me?” her voice was delicate like honey, if her beauty had previously made Shuri interested, her voice only amplified this interest even more.
"Yes. This is Shuri Udaku, queen of Wakanda.” The Queen of Baku waved her daughter closer while pointing at Shuri. “Shuri came to us to make a bold proposal.”
"A proposal?" You raised your eyebrow suspiciously.
"A proposal. Mostly you, actually.” The queen smiled amusedly. “Can you repeat your proposal, Your Highness?”
"Sim claro." Shuri suspirou nervosamente para ela olhar. "Vim pedir o seu casamento, Princess S/n."

You're out of touch, I'm out of time (Hayakawa Aki x Reader)
Friendly reminder that English is not my first language. You can check my Masterlists both in English and Polish here. Consider supporting me on Ko-fi. You can also check out my commissions if you’re interested.
Other oneshots can be found here.

Aki took a drag on his cigarette and blew a puff of smoke into the air. The dim morning light slowly filtered through the gray darkness surrounding the city. A shinkansen whizzed by in the distance. The suburbs of Tokyo were coming to life. It was calm. Everything is in its place. And yet he didn't feel like that at all.
— You only recently got out of the hospital. Already smoking? — A familiar voice startled him. The cigarette froze halfway to his mouth.
He didn't need to turn around to know that it was [Reader] standing behind him. Apparently he forgot to lock the door behind him when he arrived. He will have to do this. Power and Denji certainly won't do it for him. As he knew them both, after returning from the mission, this would be the last thing they would think about. Their priority was always to demolish the apartment to add him more work.
— What are you doing here? — He dared to glance at her.
She hasn't changed at all. She looked just like at the time when three of them, including Himeno were still active in the Public Sector of Devil Hunters. Before [Reader] went private. He wished the other woman had done the same. Maybe then she too would wake up for work now, just like him. Maybe she would still be alive.
— What do you think? — The woman leaned on the railing of the small balcony.
— You came because — the tremble in Hayakawa's voice was almost imperceptible — Himeno is dead.
— Partially, yes. — She nodded.
Like him, she stared into the grayish distance. He couldn't guess what was going through her mind.
— Give me a puff.
He obediently handed her the cigarette. [Reader] inhaled the smoke, then exhaled it lazily.
— I can't believe that bitch is dead — she said. — It seems so obvious in our job, but... I never thought it would happen to her.
Aki was well aware that she and Himeno hated each other. It was a strange relationship that depended on working together when they had to. But they never achieved the same intimacy with each other as he did with both of them. He always felt like there was some bone of contention between them. Whenever he tried to find out what really separated them, they changed the subject. It was so hard to get it out of them that after a while he stopped asking. Only the last letters given to him by the deceased's sister led him to a possible reason.
It turned out he guessed correctly. The reason women never liked each other was because of himself. The affection they both had for him led to a deep rivalry between the two of them in various spheres of life. Especially professional. Hayakawa Aki was what divided them but also what connected them in a way.
[Reader] looked at the unlit end of her cigarette. The man never found out how they had fought over him while drunk. She grimaced at the memory. The hair being pulled hurt like hell, as did the slaps to the cheek. Maybe as a hunter she should be used to pain but this was something different than fighting demons. Eventually women landed next to each other, panting and made a pact. Aki liked Makima. Whichever one would ever emerge victorious from this competition, which was unlikely, at least they agreed on this point. She was a harbinger of trouble. There was something mysteriously terrifying and dangerous about her. They were going to do everything to prevent him from ending up with her.
She flicked away the ashes. There was a time when she withdrew. Much to Himeno's delight. Private work was less stable than government work but it gave a better chance of survival. Leaving Hayakawa at the mercy of her rivals did not make her happy. However, she did not have enough determination to take on the hardest tasks day after day. She wanted to have some peace, so she had to get away from them.
— They've slaughtered so many people lately that they're looking for contracts with private owners. Preferably people like me. — [Reader] sat on the balcony railing.
Surprise appeared on Hayakawa's face. Had she really come here to return to the place she had fled from?
— I thought you were tired of risking your life.
— Let's say I changed my mind.
He didn't like it at all. He didn't need another person in his life to rest a few meters underground. With the same white cross as the rest of the hunters, in an endless cemetery. A place where the only thing you could hear were black ravens lamenting because of the lack of food.
— Don't come back — he said confidently, putting out her cigarette in the ashtray.
She seemed more outraged by the fact that he had taken away her source of nicotine than by what he had said.
— Just don't give me sentimental talk. If you don't want me in the Division 4, just say so and I'll sign contract with another one. I'll stay in Tokyo anyway, so I don't give a damn what you think.
— [Reader]… — Whatever he wanted to say got stuck in his throat.
He was tired. So tired from the last few days that he didn't even have the strength to argue with her. He was still no closer to his goal. The Gun Devil seemed to be moving away from Aki's will for revenge. He might actually have had a chance with Denji but he felt like he couldn't cope anymore. Himeno's death was sort of the nail in the coffin. A border beyond which something inside him changed.
There was silence, broken only by the sounds of the city coming to life. He felt like having another cigarette this morning. His addiction was just one more thing his late partner left behind.
— I have two years left. — The weight of these words hung in the cold air.
[Reader] turned her head towards him for the first time during this meeting and really looked at him. Her face showed sadness, anger and compassion that he hated. She knew well how much of his life the katana had previously consumed. Now his remaining time had shrunk even further. This was his last bargaining chip. Why would she stay here? Even if she managed to survive and get her life together, she couldn't count on him. Soon, he won't be here anymore. He followed the same path as Himeno. Straight to the grave.
— So I'll stay here for two years — she said confidently.
It was only when she touched his face that he realized he was crying. [Reader] gently wiped away the salty drops that ran down his cheeks. Aki didn't know why he was falling apart anymore. After all, he mourned Himeno in the hospital. Maybe it still wasn't enough? Or maybe he missed his family? Times that will never come back? Future where he could live normally? Lost years?
— I promised Himeno that I would take care of you.
Hayakawa didn't say that this was probably the first time she called her by her name. He had never heard her use this form before. Bitch appeared much more often in her vocabulary. Besides, the woman was not indebted to her.
The warm embrace he was locked in didn't help at all. He felt like it made him fall apart even more. His black hair had come out of his ponytail and was now falling around his face. He embraced [Reader] like his life depended on it. His fingers gripped the fabric of her shirt tightly. He knew why she did it. She hugged him so he wouldn't look at her face. Because silent sobs also escaped her throat. They might have hated each other with Himeno but she missed her too.
— Another cigarette? — [Reader] asked, laughing through her tears.
She hastily wiped her face. Crying didn't suit them. She pulled out the last cigarette from the pack. The same one they smoked when the three of them were still together. He recognized it by the packaging. The fire rising from the lighter danced with a bright flame and immediately went out. A familiar scent rose up along with a wisp of smoke. Himeno should like the taste.

Hello, i dont know if you're taking requests at the moment, but I was wondering if you could do a denji x little sister reader. You can write whatever you want. Also, sorry if this is wordy. This is my first time asking for to be written.
Platonic! Little sister! (Y/N) x Denji
You're the most important female in his life, not even Makima could compare to you. If you even utter a word about disliking Makima, all of a sudden his feelings are dropped. "Makima who?"
If you're a normal civilian, Denji's always going to make sure you're somewhere nice and safe before even thinking about hunting a devil. If you're a devil hunter, well, tough luck; Denji's still going to be protective of you and make the job take even longer than necessary because of his rebuttals. He just wants to make sure you're safe!
Can and will fight anyone who insults you. Yes, you may live on the streets with him. Yes, you might've not had a shower in who knows how long. Yes, your hair is matted, but they don't have the right to insult you. Denji might be a skinny person, but he's been on the streets since he was a kid with you (and he's a devil hunter) so he knows how to fight. Even when he does have his (Aki's) apartment and someone picks on you, well, he now has his own trash can to dump their remains in instead of a local dumpster.
Denji will always make sure you eat your food; especially your vegetables. No buts! You need to stay healthy!
Denji would actually die if something bad ever happens to you. He lost his mother and got placed into a shitty situation thanks to his dead dad, you're the only one left in his life and he'll fight tooth and nail to make sure you stay with him.
Denji was a little afraid that you wouldn't like Pochita when he brought him to your little shack one day. He really grew a bond with Pochita, but he doesn't want you to be upset or scared of the devil dog. He was very happy when you accepted Pochita with open arms.
Denji will let you use his jacket as a blanket. You can cuddle up with him and Pochita too if you're too cold. He knows he doesn't have much to provide for you (and he feels awful about it) but he wants to make sure you're at least warm at night.
Denji will always make sure you and Pochita eat first before him. Your needs come before his own.
When Denji moves in with Aki and Power, he's very cautious of them (especially Aki). Denji wants to make sure Aki and Power won't hurt you, so he's always keeping a watchful eye on them.
Denji was more lenient on Power. Of course, he still kept an eye open at all times, but he was glad to find you and her roughhousing one day (yes, you got hurt since she couldn't control her strength. She was really sorry about it but refused to admit it, so she let you play with Meowy all day).
Aki slowly started to gain Denji's trust when Denji miserably failed to make your favorite food on your birthday. Denji woke up extra early to surprise you but was having so much trouble that Aki smelt burnt food and ended up waking up. He found Denji dumping out another batch of burnt food and ended up helping him (just so he didn't waste all his money on restocking the groceries). Yes, Denji took all the credibility. No, Aki did not care enough to try and correct him.
Manga spoilers ahead, so if you don't know who Nayuta is, don't read!
When Nayuta comes into the picture, Denji was a little hesitant of it. Two kids to take care of? He can barely take care of himself on good days! Kishibe insisted that Denji take Nayuta in so he really didn't have much of a choice.
There's some silent jealousy between the two of you, but Denji is too dense to realize it. Denji thinks you two stare at each other because you're very curious and excited to become friends/sisters! Denji was very relieved to see you both coloring together (Nayuta was ruining your zebra with red crayon, so you ruined her dog with a blue one).
When you and Nayuta finally got along with each other, Denji finally realized the rivalry the two of you had going on. He felt a little bad that he didn't realize sooner since he could've tried to help you two get along, but he's really glad that you both were able to set aside your differences to focus on your main goal: care for your big brother, Denji!
Now you and Nayuta do everything together! Drawing, watching TV, playing at the playground, you're basically inseparable twins! You even share the same classroom together (if you're around her age). If you're older than Nayuta, you drop her off at her school and pick her up when it's over. Nayuta is always bouncing with unseen excitement when she sees you and Denji from her school gates, ready to take her home.
I really hope you like dogs because Denji has a lot of them now that Makima's gone. Denji will build a fence in his apartment to keep them out of your room if you're allergic or dislike them. If you do like them, that's great! You can help Denji and Nayuta walk them, feed them, bathe them; it'll be fun!
Denji really loves you and Nayuta and is very protective of you. He knows you and him have had a hard uprising, he just wants to make sure you're happy and content with the life you have now with him, Nayuta, and many dogs. If you're not happy, he'll try his darn best to make it better for you.
Thank you for my first request! I'm happy to be of service! (The Denji Drought on Tumblr and any other website is serious, stay hydrated y'all).
I hope you enjoyed this! If you have any requests, feel free to ask! I have a masterlist on who I write for on my profile. This applies to anyone!

𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄, 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄 # !︎
↠︎ warning(s) + request: angsty-ish, fluff, hurt/comfort, might be ooc aki, devil!reader. Just wanna say that u are really talented (idk what vocab should i use since english is not my first language) in writing i love ur fic so much <33 what i wanna add is the snow devil herself have pastel blue from hair root to pastel purple ends gradient hair color, mint green left eye and sky blue right eye, the snow devil would be so insecure about her looks. The snow devil also was the adoptive elder sister to Makima. Thats all ty if u did write this. Its ok if u dont tysm <33
↠︎ pairing: aki hayakawa x devil!reader
my sweetest love @missshinazugawa, i offer you the humblest of apologies for how long this took :( pls forgive me!! <3 thank you for the support bookie
as the snow devil angel, your looks always stand out
with pastel blue and purple hair and heterochromatic eyes, attention was inevitable and growing up you were picked on a lot for the difference
makima was your younger sister via adoption but she always defended you like she was the eldest
the devil hunting society was cruel and people’s comments on your appearance had gotten worse
everything took a turn when someone vandalized your desk, with words like ‘demon’, ‘freak’, ‘useless’, ‘ugly’, etc.
and usually you could tough it out but the fact that smth like that was able to happen so casually to you in the workplace, you couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with emotions.
embarrassed, you left the building and went to the roof.
aki, makima’s most competent leader, had found you
unbeknownst to you, aki was beginning to fall for you and found you stunning!
he had surprised you by sitting next to you on the ledge of building, letting you cry into his shoulder
aki cursed the people who vandalized your things and vowed to find out who did it (he did)
you weren’t expecting this from someone who vehemently hates devils
his presence and conviction to defend your image were calming and allowed you to see him in a different light
from there, the two of you began a friendship that is now a relationship!
with makima as your sister and aki as your boyfriend, you don’t get picked on at work anymore
but sometimes people in public get too obvious in their stares and disgust with a devil being around them
aki matches them with a stare of his own, one just as mean. he always has an arm around you but it tightens whenever you get uncomfortable
usually people get the hint but every once in awhile, you’re shielding your eyes from witnessing your lover beat the shit out of another person thats overstepped
he’s fiercely protective of you and loves you downnnnnnn
aki would rather speed up his death than hurt you/allow someone else to hurt you
if you’re ever feeling bad afterwards or just in one of those moods where your insecurities are overwhelming, aki commences ‘self-care with aki day’
its where he takes care of you and pampers you, making sure you feel at least half as beautiful
you guys are usually sleeping in, reading, cuddling, watching tv/movies, eating your favorite foods, and doing some skin care when these things happen
he also posts affirmations all over the house and packs your bentos with them all the time
calls you ‘pretty’, ‘gorgeous’, ‘beautiful’, ‘lovely’, and ‘angel’ pretty much every second he breathes
this man works overtime to protect your body from the negative thoughts of others and yourself
he loves staring into your eyes and saying “sorry, they’re so mesmerizing angel” whenever you scold him for looking too long
is 100% your biggest fan

denji x gn!reader — 1.7k words
genre: angst comfort, platonic (probably)
warnings: csm pt1 spoilers, mentions of death, grief, anxiety, not really canon compliant (written before pt2 came out), talks of marriage, suicidal ideation and depression.
synopsis: the aftermaths of denji’s time as a public safety devil hunter, and the pain that comes with.
author’s note: edited repost from an old sideblog of mine because it was too good. i wrote it before part two came out so obviously a lot might seem ooc bare with me please and thank you… that’s all actually. yay!
Denji steps out of his apartment, sighing and shaking his backpack on his back a little. He sighs and huffs and does all sorts of disgruntled expressions as he walks down the stairs.
“Nayuta, hurry up already.” he yells, jogging down. The girl sighs in annoyance as she closes the door to their apartment.
You laugh as you watch them bickering while they walk down. Once they reach the streetwalk, Denji’s face lights up.
“Finally!” he exclaims, smiling widely. He runs up to you with an exaggerated crying expression and open arms, before engulfing you into a suffocating hug. “I missed you!”
“It’s been two days.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
He pulls away and smiles still. You chuckle and shake your head, before turning to his little sister. “Hi, Nayuta.”
“School.” she says, before walking away. You stare at her with furrowed eyebrows before turning to Denji.
“Uh?”
“Kobeni takes her to school now.” he says, blankly, “She needed a job. She’s still broke.”
“And you’re not?”
Denji makes an exaggerated shrug of his shoulders and begins walking away in the direction of the path to your high school. You shake your head to ignore the hundred questions you have to ask and run up to catch up to him.
For over five months now, Denji has been silent.
Sometimes, he’s overbearingly loud and present— Makes a show out of reminding everyone around him that he exists. He’s joyful, and acts like his stupid, idiot teenager boy self. It’s Denji. It’s him. But it’s different. He’s craving attention; he’s craving comfort, company. He was alone before and he was used to it, but then he got a family, love and company, and it was all ripped away from him— his life— so fast and easily, like it meant nothing. He needed someone. Something. To hold onto.
And so sometimes he’s dreadfully quiet. He doesn’t say a word and practically only replies to questions with nods, shakes of his head or hums. He mumbles his way through his sentences and walks to school like heavy chains are on his feet. He’s visibly unwell. He doesn’t really sleep. It shows on his face— and Nayuta told you.
He misses Aki and Power.
Makima, almost. In spite of everything.
He misses the daydream that his reality had become, for a while.
And he’s quiet when you walk to school. You know he’s glad to have you with him because you were part of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, but you attended high-school at the same time. That meant once he finally enrolled, he wasn’t alone. Yoshida Hirofumi was there, too, but he wasn’t in the same grade and he was also deemed “creepy” by Denji, which earned him a lighthearted hit to the back of his head. The point is that Denji is glad he isn’t alone, and that someone from what one could call his previous life is still there. Alive. Standing. Doing well. Someone who knows about everything, and who won’t ask about anything. Someone who understands him without needing him to talk.
You.
“You’re crying.” you say after a good fifteen minutes of silence and walking to school. Denji is looking ahead and only wipes his tears with the back of his hand.
“Not.”
“Sure are.”
“Shut up.”
You don’t mention it again. Not even when you hear him try to stifle his sobs during fifth period at school. Not when he spaces out and doesn’t eat his lunch to stare out the window without moving. You figure he needs time, still.
When the school day ends, he walks slowly as he exits the gates. You look at him from a few meters back and think for a moment, before jogging up to him.
“I’m staying over at your apartment today.” you say, walking ahead of him and skipping through your steps. You hear a familiar scoff and then him running up to catch up to you.
“No, you’re not.” he scoffs, walking next to you with his arms crossed. You look at him with raised eyebrows and he side-eyes you. He sighs quietly, pursing his lips. “… Will you help me cook? Nayuta keeps complaining.”
You scoff in victory and hold up your fist. He bumps his own into it.
“Deal.” “Deal.”
So you stay there the whole night.
You cook some instant ramen Denji has because you’re actually not much of a better cook than him, but it seems Nayuta prefers it when you’re the one who makes it. He sits on a chair next to you and dully watches you cook. You turn to look at him, “What’s up?” you ask, and he shrugs.
“Can we, like, get married, or something?“
“The hell?”
He shrugs again and closes his eyes, sinking down on his chair. “I dunno. I’m like, alone, y’know. I don’t know, I just think it’d be nice having you over more often. And the kid likes you. I just thought about it.”
You laugh because marriage is so far-fetched when he could just ask you to be roommates. You know marriage’s an oath— You’re supposed to be together forever, or something. Denji probably thinks it means security. To stay with you. To not be alone ever again, even if it wouldn’t change much from what you already have and you both know that. You know that what he’s trying to say is that it’s harder than he pretends to live alone. To live alone again. Nayuta isn’t enough to complete the hole that Aki and Power’s death left in his chest. And as innocent as she is, she reminds him of the nightmare that destroyed all of it. Makima. Sometimes, he purposefully takes too long to come back home after class so Kobeni takes care of her longer and he can spend longer without seeing those damned eyes, even if it means paying Kobeni double. You know because when he isn’t staying alone in some street, he’s with you in a park or at your place.
“We’re not getting married, you fucking idiot.” you mumble, laughing still as you pour the ramen into three bowls. You exhale and focus your gaze on the food, “I’ll just come over more often.”
“I don’t want you coming over more oftennnnn.” he damn-near whines, “You piss me off.”
“You said you wanna get married.”
“Yeah, but still.”
You scoff and bring the food on the counter. “Nayuta. The food’s ready.” you say, and the girl looks from her spot on the floor, where she lies down on her stomach while reading a manga magazine. The dogs seem to all wake up at the same time as she gets up. There’s sliced bread on the side of her bowl and she takes it with her teeth before walking off with the bowl in hands. The dogs follow her.
Denji turns on his chair and leans his arms on the counter before putting his head on them. He stares at the side of his bowl and you lean against the counter, taking your own. You mix the ramen with your chopsticks a bit and sigh.
“You should eat.” you say.
“I will.” he says.
“Before it gets cold. Or else you’ll complain.” you add. He sighs and gets up enough to spin his chair so it faces the counter and sits back down, before eating. He finishes the bowl pretty fast and then he’s back to leaning on the surface of the counter. You tilt your head. “The…” you hesitate, “The dogs should probably go out for a bit, right? Wanna go walk them together?”
He nods a bit.
Nayuta falls asleep. You head out with the dogs. Denji holds half of them, you the other. The night is cold. Denji doesn’t seem to mind, or to realize. You’re not sure.
You walk to a small bench next to a vending machine. You sit down and Denji buys drinks. He hands you your favorite and keeps his own in hand. The dogs are seemingly enjoying the night breeze much more than you are. You’re cold.
“You know.” Denji begins, “I came here after Aki died. This exact fuckin’ place. I ate ice cream. And Makima found me, somehow. And she brought me to her place. That’s where I met those dogs for the first time, too.”
You hum.
“Then she killed Power.” he says.
You nod slowly.
There’s silence and it isn’t uncomfortable but it’s heavy. If you couldn’t feel Denji’s grief before it was all you could feel now. Like it hung in the air, suffocating. You knew Aki, and you were acquainted with Power. But you didn’t know either of them half as much as Denji did.
It hurt when they died, but not half as much as it did for Denji.
You could feel his hurt now. It made you wonder how he kept living. It was grief so terribly painful and overwhelming that anyone would rather kill themselves than keep enduring it. But Denji was… Denji. You figured he was just different. Nothing really new.
“I thought to myself, I killed Aki.” he says, then sighs like it was hard to breathe properly, “So it was easy for me to think the same for Power, y’know? ‘It’s my fault. I killed them’.”
“I understand.”
“Mhm.”
He uncaps his can of soda and drinks around half of it in one go.
You two go back home.
The dogs went to sleep fast, Nayuta was still asleep, and Denji was worn out. So you cleaned up the place, put his coat on the coat hanger for him, and put his shoes properly at the entrance where he’d taken them off messily. You put a blanket on him and readjust the one on Nayuta. Then you lay down next to Denji.
He opens his eyes a bit and just looks at you. There’s silence. He hugs you and hides his face in the crook of your neck.
“We should really get married.”
“No.”
“Man. Fuck you.”
He holds you, still, and you hold him. He fell asleep before you did. You spent a while carding your fingers through his hair and rubbing his back, making sure he was really asleep. Making sure he wouldn’t suddenly jump because of a nightmare (it had happened before). And then you allowed yourself to fall asleep.
When the sun was up and you were all awake, Denji was back to being loud. You figured he was okay. It was enough for now. He was alright.
