https://worldbuilding-exchange.dreamwidth.org/ for anyone who's interested—but signups only run for another hour and a half or so.
Dear Worldbuilder,
Hi! Thank you for looking at my prompts. I'm lrthreads on AO3.
DNWs: rape; animal abuse; incest; nominally consensual sexual situations where one or more participants have unequal levels of power or unequal ability to meaningfully consent, or lack of ability to meaningfully consent. Slavery or slavery AU.
(Some of these canons have some of my DNWs. If they are present in canon and done in a canon-typical way then I'm probably okay with that. On my signup form I attempted to clarify this where necessary.)
If you want to do any other kind of AU, as long as it lets you explore the worldbuilding for one of my requests, go wild. I feel like many of these would be difficult if you pull them very far away from their canon, but if you think you can make it work I'm not going to question that.
I listed a bunch of other likes and dislikes in my Yuletide letter if you want to get a feel for what I'm into. You can also look at my AO3 bookmarks. Here I deliberately pared that back because I already asked for stuff I'm interested in, and I don't want to constrain or interfere with your worldbuilding.
Anything in this letter and in my signup should override any DNWs in the Yuletide letter but feel free to contact me through the mods if you have concerns.
Almost Human (TV)
There was a throwaway mention of New Pittsburgh in one episode. What happened to Old Pittsburgh? What's New Pittsburgh like. Maybe John and Dorian have to go there, for reasons. Or they have to read about it because of a case. (The reasons are that I live in Pittsburgh and I love it here. But in the work the reasons could be whatever you want.)
Newsflesh - Mira Grant
I'm interested in behind the scenes at the CDC, especially in their cloning program.
Possible prompts: Becks is still around. Ideally as actual Becks and not a clone, but that could be interesting too. Speaking of Becks and clones, she used to be a Newsie. What if she starts digging into the possibility of other clones, either as a Newsie, Irwin, or both? (We know Emily Ryman had one. And I often wonder about Kelly Connolly. What are their thoughts? So long as whatever version of Kelly is around to have them. Kelly is extremely legacy—a nepo baby if you insist—what does her family think about the cloning situation?) This could be during the trilogy or after it.
Danika (aka Dr. Shaw) could also be an interesting POV character for this.
Raising the Griffin - Melissa Wyatt
High five if you've read this too. I'm interested in almost anything that matches one of my listed prompts.
To elaborate: Press coverage of the restoration of the monarchy, or in-universe historical works. What did it look like to average locals, to people like deBatz, or Ms. Kellerman? What about the tabloids Isabelle was working with?
Sports—dive into rhenyi or explore other aspects of sports. Was rhenyi ever an Olympic sport? Did Rovenia send athletes to the Olympics in other sports, and how did they do? IIRC skiing is mentioned in the context of possibly opening resorts to attract tourists.
Infrastructure and government—this is an area that needs work, IIRC. What are some infrastructure problems? Does Rovenia have a national health care system? What kind of shape is it in?
Lord Ermenwyr series - Kage Baker
It's not entirely clear, but it seems like The Bird of the River takes place before The Anvil of the World. (Feel free to do what you want with the chronology, though.) The Green Saint is mentioned as becoming part of the Children of the Sun's pantheon in Bird. How does this affect her children? Do they have encounters with other gods?
How do regular people (Yendri and Children of the Sun) feel about the changing pantheon?
Smith (the main character of Anvil) and Captain Glass are both putatively affected by the gods. How common is this? Are there others? Feel free to do a deep dive into Captain Glass's and/or Smith's whole deal(s), whether as fic or as an in-universe scholarly or journalistic or tabloid work. (We know from Anvil that ethically dubious journalists exist in the setting.)
Tam Lin - Dean
My main curiosity is, what's elfland/fairyland like in this book? What if Tina, described as a "biologist and a materialist", ends up in elfland? (I headcanon Tina as autistic, FYI, but I don't expect adherence. Just throwing it out there in case it appeals.)
We get a lot of Janet, because it's her book, and I love her, but if you feel moved to have some of the other characters be the focus I'd love that. Especially a Tina and Molly caper, or even Nick and Peg.
Other thoughts: we know there's a student newspaper. Is there a student literary magazine? A student radio station? If you want to go modern (either future fic or modern AU) what's Blackstock social media like? In the early days of the internet does the college's peculiar folklore ever get mentioned on newsgroups or bulletin boards where urban legend buffs gather?
We know there's a senior class play and a folk dancing group. What other extracurricular activities are there?
We also know about traditions like the committee that selects the bagpiper and stealing the Schiller bust. A microhistory of these could be interesting. Or any other traditions that you think might fit in.
If you want to combine some or all of these prompts or worldbuilding requests feel free.
Star Trek
I like/liked Wesley. (Past tense for when Next Gen was new and I was a fanling who was obsessed with it.)
So whether you want to explore how his existence led to policies (either his childhood/adolescence or his canon disposition) or show him dealing with time travelers as a regular part of his duties, I'm on board. I'm cackling internally at the thought of Wesley having to write a memo about this, or something.
I'm behind on his later appearances (Nemesis, Picard) but if you want to include that material go ahead. My favorite Next Gen Wesley episodes were "The Game" and "The First Duty."
Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch
I think Thistle would have a unique perspective on the birth, death, and rebirth of genii locorum. Also she has a dozen or so as her mom-in-law as sisters-in-law and I suppose cousins-in-law if Father Thames's sons count.
Same for the demi-monde, the possible source of some of her mentioned many foster kids.
Grace Yutani, as heir to the Sons of Wayland, might have access to some interesting historical records or knowledge, but so could Thistle.
Star Wars
I've always wondered what Nabooian childhood was like for people who knew they could be elected queen or appointed a handmaiden, or that they couldn't. Why is Naboo like that? What's the educational system like?
Alternate prompt: raising livestock, preferably happabores or felids like tookas or lothcats. But anything small, cute, and fluffy is also of interest to me. Are there livestock shows? The equivalent of cute animal videos on the holonet?
Sunshine - Robin McKinley
I'm especially interested in the mentioned retired SOFs who end up tending orchards for stake-growing purposes. But if you wanted to write about the part-blood situation, or combine them by having part-bloods whose powers include being good with plants, I'd be interested.
(Or you could have a POV outsider situation looking at the SOFs who are always at the coffee house—the person who sees their mentioned expense reports perhaps. But whatever tickles your fancy is fine.)

Messy sketch of Bard giving up his humanity in an (unfortunately vain) attempt to save his village from The Demon’s rampage.
Not only does Thuvitar and Demiurge make him repress the memories of this event long after what happens, making him forget who he was, it makes him fail to remember that it was him, and not the demon, that ended up killing his village in the end.

-Wish you would have seen Shajar’s face when I showed up, huhu!💗 -Her dumb ass really thought you’d stay dead, she cried herself to sleep last night LOL
Ya and that was the most anyone in this house cried about the Cyn death debacle, I still can’t get over how much these people didn’t care. The icy blood of Victoria clearly flows through our veins.
Tumblr media
-Wyatt, I’m here in this bathroom after our failed geriatric coitus attempt to autonomously lecture you about your diminishing libido! -Je suis désolé, mon chéri, but je suis alsò seventié :( -That’s no excuse! Why, when my mother was seventy, she was fornicating with Malcolm Landgraab so often she broke his penis, and even that didn’t stop her! The hospital had to put guards outside his room!
Tumblr media
Speaking of geriatric fornication, it’s that time of night: cucking Don time. We take our latest geezer boy-toy to P.U.R.E and its deathtrap flamethrowers! Bucket Hat Townie stop judging us.
Bucket Hat Townie:
Tumblr media
Hehe.
Tumblr media
FINALLY. Man I have had it with these fossils playing hard to get.
Tumblr media
Mary Gavigan next to the flames of Hell: O.O
Ok we’re done here Cyn! See you never, grandpa. So here’s our score so far:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have the Slob, Don, CADP (Culturally Appropriating Drama Professor), Jack Do, iVan, ProbablyJeff, CBG (Charlatan Beard Geezer), Malcolm, Wren, Castor Nova, and Matthew Hart aka 11/20! We’re doing pretty well, and especially now that Cyn is back from the dead and her lifebar has reset we have all the time in the world..
Tumblr media
..but I don’t wanna go back to the house and train pets! We hit up Londoste and we also hit bullseye with JSTWG (Jon Smith Tricou Wannabe Geezer) here.
Tumblr media
Immediately after introducing ourselves to him, JSTWG hits us with this. Honestly I was tempted because the thought of Cyn as a Twitch streamer with an army of simps was HILAR but if she gets a job we won’t have time for our hoeing so we have to decline.
Tumblr media
Things are going well, we bring up our dead grandma as one does on dates..
Tumblr media
..we flirt..
Tumblr media
..we learn that Andrea Hogan is apparently a cop who walks around in a gown all day..
Tumblr media
..AND WE GET REJECTED. JSTWG WTF
Tumblr media
Thankfully Cyn is always more than happy to override others’ free will and immediately rolls the voodoo want, just like she did when she got rejected by Malcolm lmao. Fakest 10 nice points EVER.
Tumblr media
-The power of the voodoo doll compels you, huhu!🌸
Tumblr media
Well isn’t that better! It’s a dream date with JSTWG, which refills Cyn’s motives and I’m like fuck it, you don’t walk away from the table when you’re on a roll-
Tumblr media
-so back to the diner of love we go, hoping to catch the early bird special.
Tumblr media
Clearly this guy went to the ProbablyJeff School of Self-Cucking but I accept this time because I’m curious who we’ll get..
Tumblr media
WHAT LMAO. KENNEDY. Aren’t you gay??
Tumblr media
Clearly not! So it turns out this blind date thing is like the matchmaker when you spend max cash, you get a triple bolter BUT in this case you also get a nice relationship bonus! Like it took 2 interactions for them to become friends, iconic.
Tumblr media
-Kennedy, don’t tell anyone, but my grandma who’s been dead for 40 years cheated on my grandpa! Scandalous, huhu!💗 -Oh I know, I was there!
Tumblr media
So this was literally the easiest hook-up Cyn has ever had, like I could not believe how perfectly it went-
Tumblr media
-this much chemistry with Kennedy Cox of all people???
Tumblr media
This is not ACR btw, I never use it for Cyn’s LTW because I feel it’s cheating, this all just organically happened over a single date! If I had known this earlier I would have just married Cyn to Kennedy!!!
Tumblr media
Cyneswith has woohooed in public a lot so a bunch of the townies have been at one of her previous photobooth romps, I like to think of it as following your team during a championship, you just travel wherever the next match is.
Tumblr media
Bruh. I still can’t believe that under his plaid shirt, shorts, and calf socks, Kennedy was hiding this much sexual prowess! It’s always the ones you don’t expect.
Tumblr media
We return home, where it’s still night time because I keep forgetting to download that mod that fixes the community lot time thing, and spend some quality time with iVan, whom Cyn is obsessed with ever since he saved her from Death’s embrace.
-Huhu, I got you iVan!🌸 -𝙸𝚗𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚕𝚊𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚎𝚛; 𝚁𝚞𝚗: 𝚋𝚎𝚜𝚘𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚍.𝚎𝚡𝚎;
Tumblr media
-Let me tell you, Shaj, when me and Kennedy were in that photobooth.. Pure magic, huhu!💗
Don: *leans on the wall emo-ly and cuckedly* (he’s actually just doing that stretching thing, I haven’t seen that since Marissa in gen 1! memories <3)
Tumblr media
Come on Don, a few skill points away from LTW!
-Ya it’s a bit hard to concentrate with whatever the hell’s going on behind me.
There’s nothing going on behind you!
iVan:

WARNING : I'm just an addict ... addicted to music. There are people who are born to make music, o8 thers are born to hearing. Whenever was part of this second group. Maybe it's. a habit, I gotta use, even if it 's rock, jazz or the quiet storm. Great pictures of the things I love - music, painting, books, photography, architecture, design, women, and more. I love music more than lasagna. Better to burn out than fade away. The older you get, the better life gets. But time also seems to be accelerating, the clock running too fast. So, looking at those early days, everything is very slow, stretched, and great significance. The most recent time, I spent busy with simple things.People think rock and roll is only about teenage rebellion, but why can not exist old rebel too? Gosto de gostar e de não gostar de tudo isto e muito mais...

40th Folk Festival spotlights rich, diverse culture of Louisiana
Tumblr media
By Dr. Shane Rasmussen
Photos by Chris Reich, NSU Photo Services
NATCHITOCHES – The audience at the 40th annual Natchitoches-Northwestern State University Folk Festival held on July 26-27 was entertained and educated about the rich and diverse cultural offerings of the state. The Festival featured traditional Louisiana foods, Kidfest activities, music, traditional crafts, narrative sessions, musical informances, and cultural exhibits. This year’s Festival theme “Vive la Louisiane!” was a great success, with a very happy audience.
The Festival opened with a rousing dance, beginning with Cajun dance lessons, followed by Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue, and the night closed out with Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band. Side stage performances included Natchitoches gospel group Joyful Sounds, 50 Man Machine, which includes NSU faculty Paul Forsyth, Collier Hyams, and Oliver Molina, and an open jam with Max & Marcy, Ed Huey, and Cane Mutiny.
Saturday’s events included performances in Prather Coliseum by 50 Man Machine, Creole la la with Goldman Thibodeaux and the Lawtell Playboys, the Louisiane Vintage Dancers, Brandy Roberts, the Rayo Brothers, Tab Benoit, Jamie Berzas & the Cajun Tradition Band, the Stewart Family and Friends Bluegrass Band, line dance lessons by the Cajun French Music Association Dance Troupe, the Canneci N’de Band of Lipan Apache, zydeco dance lessons by Avila Kahey, Wayne & Same Ol’ 2 Step, Hardrick Rivers and the Rivers Revue Band, Celtic Music with the Kitchen Session of Baton Rouge and a jam session with Max and Marcy.
In addition to stage performances there were narrative sessions and music informances, including conversations about American songwriting, culture & costumes of 19th century Louisiana, Tab Benoit’s The Voice of the Wetlands Fondoution, and the musical journey of Vanessa Niemann (aka Gal Holiday). Also featured was a music informance by Tab Benoit. Outdoor activities included demonstrations by the Central Louisiana Dutch Oven Cookers, the Red River Smiths, the Southern Stock Dog Association, and Wash Day, presented by the West Baton Rouge Museum. This year the Festival continued a series of free workshops for Festival attendees. Festival goers attended a Cajun accordion workshop by Jamie Berzas and Bruce Daigrepont.
The annual Louisiana State Fiddle Championship was also held on Saturday in the Magale Recital Hall as part of the Festival. Fiddle Championship judges included Steve Birdwell, Steve Harper, Henry Hemple, and Clancey Stewart. The new Louisiana Grand Champion is Ron Yule of DeRidder. Second place winner was Joe Suchanek of Merryville, with Owen Meche of Arnauldville placing third. Meche also took first place in the 21 and under championship division.
Suchanek took first in the 60 and up championship division, with Yule coming in second, Birgit Murphy of Opelousas in third, Mark Young of Balise in fourth, Wilfred Luttrell of DeRidder in fifth, and Ron Pace of Alexandria in sixth. Luttrell and Yule also took first place in the twin fiddles competition.
As the new Louisiana State Fiddle champion, Yule also performed on the main stage in Prather Coliseum. Dr. Lisa Abney managed the fiddle championship. Dr. Susan Roach from Louisiana Tech University emceed the championship.
Four musicians and a renowned filé maker were inducted into the Louisiana Folklife Center’s Hall of Master Folk Artists. Inductees included Louisiana Music Hall of Famer Tab Benoit, who also served as honorary Festival Chair, Cajun musicians Jamie Berzas and Bruce Daigrepont, filé maker John Oswald Colson, and country singer Vanessa Niemann.
Dr. Shane Rasmussen, director of the Louisiana Folklife Center, led the induction ceremony, assisted by State Representative Kenny Cox and Dustin Fuqua, Chief of Resource Management at Cane River Creole National Historical Park. In addition, the honorary award of Folklife Angel was given to long-time Festival crew chief James Christopher Callahan, an NSU alumnus.
In addition to 4 book signings and 8 exhibits by such groups as state parks and archives, over 70 craftspeople displayed their traditional work on Saturday. These craftspeople demonstrated and discussed their work with the Festival patrons. Craftspeople displayed accordion making, beadwork, baskets, Czech Pysanky eggs, filé making, flintknapping, folk art, knives, music instruments, quilting, pottery, spinning & weaving, tatting, walking sticks, whittling and needlework, wood carving, and more. 8 food vendors provided a cornucopia of traditional Louisiana foods to the Festival audience.

Loki: Best Shows to Watch If You’re Missing the God of Mischief
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The God of mischief might be off in a different timeline prepping for a second season but we still need something to put in our eyes. Assuming you’ve already binged the MCU shows WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we’ve rounded up some other great series that could scratch that Loki-shaped itch. Some of these are spiritually similar, some are great showcases of Loki’s cast and others explore similar themes. All are crackers though and well worth setting your tempad for.
Flowers
This Brit black comedy which aired on Channel 4 in the UK ran for two seasons, each equally special. Is it similar to Loki? Not at face value, but it does feature a stand out turn from Sophia Di Martino who stole the show as female Loki, Sylvie. Written by Will Sharpe, it’s the story of a highly dysfunctional family, with Julian Barrett and Olivia Coleman as parents on the verge of separation and Di Martino and Daniel Rigby as their troubled twins. Flowers is surreal, magical realistic, gothic and often bleak while remaining funny and moving at all times. Not a big world-hopping show like Loki, then, but it does tackle existential crisis head on, and it’ll only make you love Di Martino more. RF
Lovecraft Country
Like many Marvel projects, the Loki TV series has a deep bench of impressive acting talent. One of the most undersung (and honestly underutilized) members of the first season’s cast was Wunmi Mosaku, aka Hunter B-15, who was asked to depict a deep and abrupt change in loyalties over the course of six episodes. Mosaku pulls it off, mostly because she is a phenomenal actress. If you’re looking to see more of her work, look no further than HBO’s Lovecraft Country (but also watch In the Flesh, in which Mosaku plays the Season 2 antagonist), which also features He Who Remains’ Jonathan Majors in the main cast. (A two-fer!) Mosaku plays Ruby Baptiste, a Black singer living in 1950s Southside Chicago in this social horror. Come for Wunmi Mosaku and Jonathan Majors, stay for… Wunmi Mosaku and Jonathan Majors, but also for a TV series that has more supernatural twists than even the most bonkers episode of Loki. KB
Rick and Morty
If your favorite part of Loki was the existence of a thriving multiverse, then we’ve got some good news. Beloved Adult Swim series Rick and Morty (that also admittedly can have an overzealous fandom) is all about the storytelling joy that multiverses can provide. Mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith reside in a plane of infinite universes and therefore infinite possibilities for bizarre adventure. Rick and Morty alum Michael Waldron served as Loki‘s head writer and the writing staff consisted of several more vets of the animated hit. Fans of Loki’s many variants will certainly enjoy encountering the countless versions of Rick, Morty, and their family. Just wait until you meet Lawyer Morty. Look at the little guy go! AB
Doctor Who
Not an original comparison, but one that absolutely stands up. After all, what was Loki episode three if not Doctor Who gifted a Disney budget? Nexus Events, the Sacred Timeline, doomed moons, memory reactivation… almost everything about Loki has one foot in the world of Doctor Who. The Marvel series may have had Time Keepers instead of Time Lords,  variants instead of regenerations, and an alligator in place of… well, which Doctor would be the most likely to eat a cat? (Troughton’s, obviously), but there’s common DNA here. The really good news for the Loki fan who hasn’t already travelled with the Doctor(s) through space and time is that instead of just six episodes, there are roughly 10 billion of them plus novelisations, audio adventures, comic strips, videogames and a TV movie. Allons-y! LM
The Night Manager
Tom Hiddleston’s bum. But also this is an excellent series adapted from the novel of the same name by John le Carré and directed by Oscar winner Susanne Bier. Hiddleston plays Jonathan Pine, manager of a luxury hotel who gets recruited to infiltrate the inner sanctum of Hugh Laurie’s violent and volatile arms dealer. Olivia Colman co-stars once again (Hiddleston, Laurie and Colman all won Golden Globes for their performances) with a supporting role for Elizabeth Debicki which was very much a precursor for her part in Tenet. Post-Night Manager, Hiddleston was top billed to be the next Bond, so given Tenet basically was Bond but on another timeline, and featured time travel as an integral part, Loki and The Night Manager are basically the same show… RF
Timeless
If you wish Loki had been a bit more of a time-hopping procedural, then we have a show for you. Timeless, which aired on NBC for two too-short seasons from 2016-2018, stars Abigail Spencer as Lucy Preston, a historian who gets recruited by a secret department within U.S. Homeland Security in order to stop a mysterious organization that has stolen a time machine. Lucy teams up with scientist Rufus and soldier Wyatt, and the three unlikely bedfellows must learn to work together in high-stakes settings like the Hindenburg, Ford’s Theatre, and the Alamo. Co-created by The Boys showrunner Erik Kripke, Timeless has tons of character-driven twists that make the time travel personal, tying together these characters and settings in unexpected ways. KB
Legion
Loki is such a bold, creative superhero series that it’s hard to imagine that there’s every been anything quite like it. Believe or not – that’s not entirely true! While Loki is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first big heady sci-fi TV swing, it’s not Marvel’s first overall on television. From 2017 to 2019, Marvel-adjacent property Legion enjoyed a bizarre, colorful three-season run on FX. This series is based on the X-Men character David Haller a.k.a. Legion. Diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, David also just happens to be a mutant with nigh-omnipotent powers. This show from Fargo‘s Noah Hawley revels in the strange potential of its premise. Legion is often confusing, but always intriguing. It’s a show that largely replaces superhero battles with dance offs. It’s well worth watching the entire run while you wait for Loki season 2. AB
The OA
Very different to Loki in tone but very similar in head-messing inter-dimensional WTF-ness, The OA is a strange and beautiful beast. If you could follow the Marvel show’s timeline hopping, then you’ve a strong chance of grasping the madness at play in Netflix’s The OA. It starts off as a story about the return of a woman (played by co-creator Brit Marling) who’s been missing for seven years, and ends up as a story about… parallel dimensions, arcane rituals, experimental physics, sci-fi magic and a kind-of-haunted house. It’s a total trip, in short, and should scratch any itch Loki fans are experiencing for TV of the weird variety. Speaking of which, give us season three, Netflix, you cowards. LM
Quantum Leap
Before the TVA there was Doctor Sam Beckett. Played by puppy-faced Scott Bakula, Sam is a scientist who invented a “quantum accelerator” (time machine) that randomly transports him back in time to put right events which once went wrong. In each episode of Quantum Leap, Sam wakes up in the body of someone else at a distinct point in history and has to figure out his mission with the help of his best mate, in hologram form, Al (Dean Stockwell). Sam is essentially maintaining the sacred timeline at the expense of his own life and free will, which would make Al…. Miss Minutes? Either way, it’s a hugely good natured show which ran for five seasons and it’s well worth a visit. RF
Continuum
Continuum protagonist Kiera (Rachel Nichols) has serious Sylvie energy. While they might not have much in common when it comes to their background—Sylvie is trying to take down the time authorities while Kiera, a cop from the corporate-controlled future, is an authority—they’re both incredibly focused women who will do what they have to in order to achieve their goals. Continuum follows Kiera, when she is unexpectedly stranded in our present. Desperate to get back to her family and her life in the future, Kiera teams up with a teen genius, as well as local detective Carlos Fonnegra. Filled with complex character arcs and alternate timelines, Continuum is a must for any fan of time travel TV. KB
Life on Mars
Loki’s crime procedural/time-hopping/fantasy cocktail may have been made famous by Quantum Leap, but it achieved its apotheosis (that’s right, five syllables, count ‘em) in BBC One’s Life on Mars. That’s the story of Sam Tyler (John Simm), a Manchester police officer who’s hit by a car in 2006 and wakes up in 1973. Like Loki, Tyler has to piece together what’s really going on behind-the-scenes while running his own investigations. Tyler may not be a God, or have magical powers and other planets to visit, but Life on Mars still took him to some odd and captivating places. It ended prematurely after two seasons (at the request of Simm, who said he wanted to spend more time with his family), after which the tale continued with sequel Ashes to Ashes starring Keeley Hawes. Currently, plans are afoot for a belated third series. LM
