Hello ABL. First of all, let me just say, that I love your devotion to Seven Days. It was my very first bl and what got me to discover the genre. Of course it was all downhill from there lol. Just kidding. Maybe... Anyway. I've been doing this thing since the beginning of the year where I watch older jbls (usually before 2020, although that is not old by any stretch) to kinda get a broader view of the genre in Japan. I haven't been in this for that long so I'm still catching up. Some of the stuff I've watched so far. All the Pornographer series/films ; Dangerous Drugs of Sex; Takimu-kun 1 & 2; Junjou (2010); Athlete (2019) Udagawachou de Matteteyo (2015); Ai no Kotodama (2008) No Touching At All (2014) ; The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese (2020). I've also watched things like His (series and film), Restart coming back home, Life Love on the Line, and I'm probably missing a couple but not a lot. So I was wondering if you had more recs for me. Anything you can think would fit with what I'm trying to do.

GENERAL NOTES: because kana characters are generally sounds that combine what we’d think of in english as consonants and vowels, they’re split up into groups based on that, and this song plays with that (there’s probably actual terms and a more concise way to say that but i’m no linguist lol). aside from where it coincides pretty well with the english vowels of AEIOU, i tried to keep the alliteration of the original lyrics, so this translation is a little more liberal and vibes-y!

I would add Idris (who is a line press machine (at least that's what I think she is)) but Tumblr only allows 10 options and I'm pretty sure nobody outside of select Talyllyn members know that they named a line press machine "Idris". The Talyllyn Railway names practically everything by the way, we're slightly mad (I say that as a life member of the railway).

BTW when this poll ends I will be in Wales, probably pestering some Talyllyn members who are close in age to me or being asked to take photos of some random tourists or running around Nant Gwernol with a child who pestered me while on the ride up in the coaches (like last year).

Same Character, Different Actors

In Some Instances for whatever reason, a series must recast a role. Sometimes to enrich a story, or contract disputes or character growth such as a child actor starts a role and an adult actor completes it. Or in flashback situations in which an adult character flashbacks to the past requires a younger actor for flashbacks.

This Post Is About 2 Different Mediums (Series To Movie)

HIS- Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (2019, Mini Series)

aka HIS- I Didn't Think I Would Fall In Love

HIS (2020, Movie)

Meet Hibino Nagisa (played by KURA YUKI) a lonely 17 year old boy living alone away from his parents. He loves to surf. And he likes men and feels ostracized for it. However no one in the seaside knows about his sexuality. A family with a daughter has more or less adopted him in that they feed him. He is unaware their daughter has a crush on him.

Meet Igawa Shun (played by KUSAKAWA NAOYA) who arrives in the seaside town to visit his father. Soon after he arrives his father has to rush off several days for work. While sightseeing Shun spies a boy and girl arguing. It's Nagisa. The two boys develop a fascination with one another. Nagisa is immediately smitten with Shun and befriends him. Even getting him a part time gig at the same place he works.

Nagisa searches for answers of Shun's feelings by telling him a legend story about man falling for a boy. Eventually in this 5 episode series the two boys admit their feelings for one another hurting the two girls who happen to have feelings for them. Yet still the girls support them. (The End)

A movie version takes the story into adulthood with FUJIWARA KISETSU (as Hibino Nagisa) who has broken Shun's heart. Breaking up with him to become a professional surfer. That of course doesn't work out but he stays and tries to become a proper man. Getting a woman pregnant and marrying her. But his facade is revealed (by him) and he returns to find Shun with a 6 year old daughter in tow.

Shun (now played by MIYAZAWA HIO) has isolated himself in a small town. He sees a young girl standing alone blowing bubbles. He asks who she's with. She calls out papa and Shun turns to see his former lover.

Shun takes in Nagisa and his daughter and the two men slowly rediscover their love. As Nagisa is in the process of a divorce. His wife comes and takes their daughter away. Later Sora (the daughter) is picked up by police after she wanders off from her mother who is drunk and passed out. The police notify Nagisa who picks up his daughter.

Later a custody battle ensues with the defense using Nagisa's homosexuality as a basis for him to lose custody of his daughter.

I watched Japan’s film His on viki rakuten, and it was SO GOOD.

Very beautiful slice of life cinematography that Japan does so well.

The story is so touching and i was instantly invested in the very real situation the characters found themselves in.

Something I really liked was that you never really got a strong sense of who was “top” and who was “bottom” and it was quite refreshing.

Have you sent it? Do you like it? I cried sad and happy tears watching this one.

His the Movie?

Not only have I seen it but Miyazawa Hio is one of my favorite Japanese Actors.

The reason it doesn't come up much in this blog, is I don't really conciser it BL, more just high brow queer cinema. (Also I'm not wild about the ending.) But it certainly is quality.

You know it's a kinda sequel?

There's a prequel series of the same characters meeting as children, entirely different cast tho. Also called His (the series) or His - Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (AKA His: I Didn't Intend to Fall in Love, His: I Didn't Mean to Fall in Love, His: I Didn't Think I Would Fall in Love).

Eh, you know Japan and their titles.

I like it, but it's chewy... work to get through in that quintessentially Japanese way. I think currently airing My Strawberry Film will be similar.

The same actor who plays young Nagisa in this series, Kura Yuki, is in the BL Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai.

These are all Japanese arthouse style, which (while I appreciate) is not my personal preferred JBL lane.

Of all these, I like the movie .you're asking about best since I think this filming style tends to suit adult characters better than young adult.

Looking back on a week in amazing Anglesey and wonderful wider North Wales

Over the past week another trip outside of England for me this year among mountains centred on a beautiful island has allowed us to have a special wild adventure. It was a week of splendour, spectacle and thrilling experiences.

Bird and mammal wise we saw some of the finest sights UK wildlife has to offer, from being ensconced in the spectacular tern and gull colony of Cemlyn, seeing our first Arctic Terns this year and marveling at the many neat Sandwich Tern, also seeing Common Tern and Black-headed Gull with views of chicks enjoyed to watching in aw in the evening sunlight a Red Squirrel feed in the magical Newborough Forest an astonishing sight to ensure I’ve seen these divine mammals in England, Scotland and Wales this year. The distinctive smell, consuming noise and fantastic sight of seabird colonies dominated the week, with charismatic and eyecatching Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Shag and more enjoyed between two visits to the fabulous RSPB South Stack and a brilliant boat trip around Puffin Island. Days full of glee. Staggeringly intimate views of Grey Seal on the boat trip and fine evening views of Manx Shearwater gliding across the sea at Cemaes where we stayed and Llanbadrig and some seen at Cemlyn on the last morning were other moments of nautical wild bliss. It was phenomenal and valuable to get such splendid views of Black Guillemots again across the week, a favourite bird of mine we don’t get at home which I am having a top year for. Anglesey is synonymous with Choughs and at South Stack, the Range and on a journey at one point we have had some sensational times seeing these red and black wonders exceptionally well. Their sharp call and breathtaking appearance has left me spellbound and filled my heart with joy. We also saw some at the Great Orme on a wider North Wales part of the trip.

Adding further gloss and helping my bird year list become personally historic was my first sighting this year of a Little Ringed Plover on a wider jaunt to RSPB Conwy. Other standout birds of the trip included Shelduck, Oystercatcher, Red-breasted Merganser, Gannet including on Ynys Badrig, Herring Gull, House Martins, Swallow, Whitethroat, Bullfinch, Pied Wagtail, Wheatear, Rooks heard and seen well from the lovely cottage we stayed in, Raven, Jay and Buzzard. Crossing Eryri on Wednesday on the way back from Conwy seeing Grey Wagtail at Betws-y-Coed, Hen Harriers and Goosander and Common Sandpiper at Llyn Ogwen added some top species to the week.

Wren at Nant-y-Pandy on Thursday which was a joy to see too. 

In spring/summer holidays geared towards birds it’s always nice to see some insects during it and it occurred to me during the week we might be able to see Silver-studded Blues here, that we did at the Range by South Stack on Tuesday. Immersive moments watching this precious gem of a butterfly. In heatwave conditions as the week went on Ringlet, Dark Green Fritillary, Small Skipper and Common Grayling at the Great Orme probably of the sub species Hipparchia semele emerging early and unique to this site were ones we saw for the first time this year as I sailed into seeing summer butterfly species, with Meadow Brown, Common Blue, Large Skipper, Small Tortoiseshell and oh so many Red Admirals also seen. Hummingbird hawk-moth, Silver Y, my first Six-spot Burnets of the year seen well, Straw Dot, Brown-silver Line and Grass Veneers made it a marvellous moth week too.

Caterpillars played their part too with a few seen, this of the Oak Eggar moth at South Stack.

As hoped we saw Four-spotted Chaser dragonflies, with a surprise Golden-ringed Dragonfly an exquisite moment in the trip at a stream at Nant-y-Pandy aka the Dingle and Southern Hawker also firsts for the year. Emperor, Broad-bodied Chaser as well as Blue-tailed, Common Blue and Azure Damselflies and Banded Demoiselle were pleasant to see too. It was also a top trip of beetles with many Swollen-thighed beetles and my first ever Chrysomela populi and Rose Chafer beetle seen.

Mating Azure Damselflies which was a strong memory of a hot and sunny time at Cors Ddyga on Thursday.

It was a flower fest this week with massive species of my year seen such as my first alluring bee and pyramidal orchids of the year at RSPB Conwy and lots of sheep’s-bit. Marsh helleborine, early marsh orchid, purple sandwort, sea plantain and bright yellow-horned poppy were new flower species I was amazed to see. Thrift, sea and red campion, chamomile, wild carrot and cabbage, foxgloves, thyme, wall pennywort, bird’s-foot trefoil and rich English stonecrop seen consistently well were strong characteristic plants of the trip for me as many were when here two years ago. And on that note I could not forget the joy of seeing again at Valley Wetlands and Cors Ddyga RSPB reserves my star flower from 2021, excellent marsh cinquefoil.

The views were something else again; cliff, beach and dune coast, woodland, heath, meadow, lake and mountains. There were breathtaking moments observing stunning landscapes and being immersed in them on Friday riding the Great Orme cable cars at Llandudno and going three quarters of the way up Yr Wyddfa on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. I enjoyed stunning scenes of the sun going down over the water on evenings at Cemaes and Llanbadrig. It is such an aesthetically pleasing part of the world. What a week, so much covered and seen and so many glorious memories made. I love Anglesey and North Wales generally and I can’t wait to come back.

Mitch B.: autunno '24 di musica tra ADE, Sentenza Radio Show e dj set d'eccellenza

Che autunno 2024 è quello di Mitch B., dj producer romagnolo che sonorizza con il suo sound personale e sofisticato alcuni dei top club europei, Ibiza compresa? E' una stagione niente affatto malinconica, anzi strapiena di musica e party... anche per chi per motivi suoi non dovesse proprio poterlo ascoltare live, il che è un errore. Dj producer fin dal lontano 1998, Mitch B., originario di Ravenna, da sempre spazia tra sonorità che vanno nudisco alla house in tutte le loro sfaccettature.

Porta da anni il suo sound in alcuni dei più importanti club e locali d'Italia e non solo. Solo per quel che riguarda l'estate 2023 si è esibito nel privé del Pacha, ad Ibiza e pure al Djerba Music Land, prestigioso festival in Tunisia; ha diviso la console con top dj come Gregor Salto e Kryder; ha regalato il suo sound a spazi di riferimento a livello nazionale come Papeete Beach Milano Marittima, Terrazza Aperol Milano, Donna Rosa Marina di Ravenna, BBK Punta Marina…
