And then like. Literally can't decide bc I'm like. I'd def be more comfortable trying to raise Bala and Iridescent Sharks bc like.....we've had those?? And so it's all predictable and everything like what I'd have to do to rly start Doing It Completely Myself BUT I'm like.....I've always wanted to try out saltwater fishkeeping...I've always wanted to have some saltwater fish..And I feel like atm I could only get away w one tank......

NayNay’s Recommended Stellaris Mods
So I decided to make a list of mods that I use for Stellaris because... well, why not? Promoting a modder’s hard work is always a good thing.
Mind you though that Utopia will soon be released, and it’s accompanying patch will break all these mods so you’ll need to wait until they are updated. But that’s not a major issue as, from my experience, mods mods get updated in first week, some in first three days.
Additional Map Modes by Zraith
We waited a while for Stellaris to include actual map modes, and when it did... the selection was poor. This mod makes up for it.
WARNING: if you are using UI 1080 Patch, download this patch to avoid UI issues
Alpine Tiles by AlphaAsh
I don’t know about you guys, but vanilla Alpine planets donn’t really look Alpine to me. If you agree, then maybe this mod might be good for you.
Animated Synthetic Portraits by Silfae
Ever been annoyed how the only difference between a Robot, a Droid, a Synth, and the Machine Consciousness is the color of their lamps? Well, fear no more: this mod makes them all actually look different.
And the Machine Consciousness now actually looks terrifying!
Better Empire Names by Galle
A simple mod which adds more variety to the generated Empire names. After all, you can’t expect all these aliens to use such simialr naming conventions, now can you?
Cloned by AlphaAsh
Is creating Synthetic slaves not creepy enough for you? Well, why not go a step further and create clone slaves? Use those Clone technologies for more than just armies now!
Color coded pop status icons by ParasiteX
There are things you never knew you needed until you get them. This is oen such mod: icons for slavery, migration, starvation, and unemployment now have different colors, making it easier to notice that your POPs have more than one problems on a particular planet.
Custom Race: The Pallid by Krabiel
New species portraits are always welcome. New species portraits that don’t come from another franchise more so. Ones with unique stuff especially. This is one such pack: you have a species of humans corrupted by Cthulhuish aliens and now living together with those aliens. They hve a unique premade race, with their own unique stuff.
Ethic&Government Rebuild by Petruxa
One of the legendary mods of Stellaris. It adds many new Ethics, and countless new governments (some selectable from start, others researchable). Though the government overhaul that comes with next Stellaris expansion will require this mod to be completely remade, it is nontheless a must have if you intend to play another game before Utopia’s release!
WARNING: if using AlphaMod (which is mentioned in the list below), then you need to download this version of the mod instead!
Evolving Worlds by Khevtol
Specialization of planets is something many people like, so there are seveal mods for them. But while most mods give you full freedom on how to specialize them, this one instead makes it more dynamic... aka, the planet itself gets a specialization after a while. It’s also balanced so that strong empires don’t get snowball effects by making it so that larger Empires need more time to get a specialized planet. It’s probably not for everyone, especially not for those who want to micromanage the specializations, but it should be good for others!
Extended Traits by r-M
The vanilla choice of traits is not enough for you? You want MORE? Well, there are several mods, and this is a good one!
Extra Events by Burgermeister
Who doesn’t want more events in their game? Mods which add many events are thus welcome, so do take care to download this mod which, in its current version, adds 64 new events. And yes, it is compatible with other event mods.
Fallen Empires Expanded by Surfacerunner
This mod adds more variety to the Fallen Empires (like new home systems for them and such, and more game-start customization to them. It also intends to add more types of them, and they have added a Militaristic one already (though I have yet to meet it myself). It also adds more Sol FEs for when you don’t play with Terrans!
Federation Leader Notification Mod by Binary Ferret
With all those notification spams, you’d think that Stellaris will never forget to alert you about anything. Well, not really: it forgets to notify you that you have just become your Federation’s leader. Heck, once my federation mandate passed without me even noticing that I was the Federation leader. So until PDS fixes that bug, use this mod to defend yourself against frustration.
Flags: Emblems & Backgrounds by swefpith
There’s not much to say here: this mod adds new flag emblems and a proper color picker.
Genesis Worlds - Better Homeworlds by Dragon of Desire
Annoyed that homeworlds are usually the worst planets in the game, even though they are homelands of entire species? Well, this mod makes up for it by giving every homeworld a unique trait that makes it more valuable than an average planet.
Gods and Guardians by AlphaAsh
This mod adds new options to your Observation Stations so you can have more freedom in how to deal with species that have yet to leave their home planets. Primarily, you can come to them and tell them that you are thjeir God or Guardian.
Guilli's Planet Modifiers by Guilliman
This is yet another mod which seeks to make exploring planets more interesting. In its base, it adds over a hundred new planet modifiers, but also adds new unique armies, events, etc. Must-have for all wanna-be explorers and colonizers!
Homeworld Ethics by AlphaAsh
This is yet another mod which makes your starting planets more unique. This one does it by giving you ethic-unique structures which you can only build on your homeworld.
Human Revolution (standalone) by Stallfish
There are many human portraits out there, some standalone and other replacers. This is one of better mods of that kind, giving humans look more cyborgish. There is a replacer and a standalone version, but standalone is probably preferential for most people as it doesn’t remove the original humans.
ISBS: Doomsday Weapons & Ships by Ankain
Who doesn’t want Doomsday Weapons? Even PDS does, and they promised to implement them eventually. Until then, there is this very rich and big mod with many kinds of Doomsday Weapons for you delicate Planet-Shattering soul!
Leader Matters - Improved Leader Traits by TianTian
A simple mod which doubles the effects of all leader traits so that those traits matter more to your game
LEX (Leviathan Events Xtended) by Space Core
A damn great mod inspired by the Leviathans DLC. It adds more Leviathan-like stuff to discover, many new events, and a new End-game Crisis. Also, all models in the mod are unique and high quality, so this is one of those mods that could as well be sold as an expansion for 5-10€
More AI Personalities by Cybrxhan
The title speaks for itself: this mod adds countless new AI personalities. Not compatible with some mods on this list though, like Government and Ethics Rebuilt.
More Events Mod by Malthus
Just like the Extra Events mod, this mod adds dozens of new events to the game. A must have for almost everyone!
More Tilesets by Sam
This mod adds new tilesets for Gaia world, Tomb World and the AI homeworld so that they look unique.
MORE WAR TYPES by Maekawa
This mod adds more Casus Belli, aka more reasons and goals for wars, like shown on the screenshot above.
Natural Selection by AlphaAsh
Another mod which adds new traits. Compatible with Extended Traits mod above in the list.
Planetary Computer by Sam
Some people believe that computers should get smaller and smaller. Others have different opinion. If you are from the second group, then a mod which allows you to terraform an entire barren planet into a computer is bound to make you happy ;P
Planetary Diversity (No Ringworld Repair) by Gatekeeper
This mod adds 22 new types of planets, selectable at Empire generation. Great for those who want more variety and for habitable planets to be less common!
WARNING: There are two versions of the mod: one which allows you to repair ringworld, and the one which doesn’t. The link above leads to the version without ringworld repair, which is for those who don’t want it or use another mod to repair ringworlds. Use this version if you want to repair ringworlds.
Relics of a Fallen Empire by Scarecrow
This mod adds three so called Fallen Empire relics, which are similar to stuff you ca find in Leviathan DLC, but these can attract the attention of the Fallen Empires.
Ringworld Start by Aru
This mod adds several new starting systems for Empire generation. You can choose a destroyed Ringworld with one working section, one with two working sections, a full ringworld, or a mega-ringworld where every section is habitable.
Silfae’s Portraits
This is not actually a mod, but rather a link to a modder’s workshop collection. Why? Because this modder creates excellent new unique portraits, new city graphics, and even the related custom Empires are interesting and unique. Definitely a must-have for anyone who likes more species variety in their games!
Tiny Building Constructions by folk
Why PDS thought that big buttons for buildings are a good idea I’ll never know. This mod makes them smaller so that you don’t need to scroll all the time when you decide to build something.
UI Blue Theme by VJ
Some like their Sci-fi games to use Green interfaces. Others yet prefer Blue.
UI Overhaul 1080p by Tyrus
As the name implies, it edits the interface so that you can use it on a monitor of higher resolutions.
WARNING: if you are using Additional Map Modes, download this patch to avoid UI issues
War Name Variety by Arcane Data
As the name implies, this mod adds more variety to war titles, so that you don’t have to always look at wars that are called “Brawls”.
AlphaMod section
Those who are fans of Stellaris mods will not need an introduction to AlphaMod, probably the biggest and mod popular Stellaris mod out there. But for the rest, here’s the summary: AlphaMod is a mod which adds a huuuge amount of content into Stellaris, while still not destroying its vanilla feel. Whatsmore, AlphaMod also has many modules which either require Alpha or areew made to work alongside it. This section will focus on all those
AlphaMod: Strange Worlds by marky612 and AlphaAsh
What this mod basically does is make it so that a few planets in your Universe are truly unique. Aka, they have special resources which can be used to build special buildings with big bonuses. It’s a fun little thing that makes exploration more rewarding and interesting.
AlphaMod: The Fleet by AlphaAsh
This module for AlphaMod is focused on improving fleet-related stuff, so it adds new ship components which can radically change how you design your ships.
AlphaMod: Xeno Fauna by AlphaAsh
Meeting sentient aliens and space creatures is nice and all, but don’t you wish for planetary animals to have of a role. Well, this module takes care of that for you ;) Discovering interesting animals gives some Empire-wide bonuses, but also allows other things, like unlocking new buildings. It’s finally time for animals to earn a place in your Empire!
Stellar Expansion by King Lemmings
Just like AlphaMod, Stellar Expansion seeks to expand the base gamer while retaining the vanilla style. And since it’s develped to be compatible with everything, it should be compatible with most mods out there. So feel free to use this mod and its modules with Alphamod!
NOTE: modules for Stellar Expansion do NOT require Stellar Expansion
Stellar Expansion - FTL Enhanced
Adds repeatable techs for Warp and Hyperlane user which strenghen them.
Stellar Expansion - Genetics
Adds repeatable techs that give you trait points
Stellar Expansion - Strategic Resources
Allows you to put into use Strategic Resources of which you have more than one, which is accomplished by giving you access to unique buildings.
Stellar Expansion - Terraforming
Stellar Expansion - Terraforming (Extreme)
These mods allow you to terraform uninhabitable planets into habitable ones. Mind you that it is costly and takes A LOT of time.
