SHADOW - G.U.N AGENT

Shadow was initially created with the intention of being a Weapon Against Humanity. after a life-altering incident, G.U.N. takes Shadow into their custody, raising him to become one of their top agents, exploiting him.

he's constantly under government surveillance... inhibitor rings (developed by G.U.N.) are clamped onto him like a shock collar so he is unable to tap into his full power. (Shadow has neither tested nor does he know the extent of his strength.. he has never tried removing them. G.U.N. is the only one who can remove them.)

the hypocritical method in wanting their weapon (cough trained dog) to exercise and develop restraint on his own terms, and yet forcefully acclimating him.

Shadow’s aware of his past. Definitely struggles with Existential dread about why he’s on Earth and what he was made for. he wants to (and feels like he should) do good, but if he was initially made with destructive intent… is he compensating this way? is this what he really wants? no.. he shouldn't think like that.. Maria would want him to be good..

If not to make the world the better a place, if they still treat his kind as inferior and sometimes, even a threat to the whole human race, does humanity and this planet still deserve its rite for redemption? What is humanity? Is that something he’s capable of, as a weapon of mass destruction?

what is he trying to prove here? His docility? His ability to be obedient and be, by human standards, good? what does that mean in a world that may never accept them, and much less him- a synthetic and all-unnatural organism forged from humanity’s worst and an alien race only capable of Evil and wrongdoing. a being so perfectly suited for any and all forms of persecution. Humankind’s scapegoat. He thinks about Maria.

Maria remains a guiding light. Back then, she would sneak Shadow out to gaze upon the Earth, her former home. She misses it, the lush greenery, the sun, the people. she hopes that Shadow will get to experience what it’s like.

when he's not on a mission, he's usually in his "room" (extremely generous word for containment chamber/training facility.) he's like a hamster in a cage with toys to play with . (treadmills. race tracks. dummy robots. Ak-47s.) He's allowed to freely roam HQ from hours 6am-10pm, and if not, he is usually escorted by a guard, unless its Rouge sneaking him out. But beyond that, it's not like the ultimate lifeform needs that much sleep, and it'd be bad to have their ultimate weapon roaming the halls without supervision. but let's say there's the occasional nocturnal scavenger providing him a bit of nightly mischief that even the most complicated most difficult to navigate ventilation system cannot keep a natural-born burrower out..... He only rlly helps out Robotnik out if it helps him… robotnik makes some new tech that tickles his , esp if smth that happens to enhance his existing abilities. sure he’s more than capable of doing things on his own but what’s better than to play with his new toys with his already existing toys (GUN. shadow.)

i went w this title cus it fits how i perceive AK jason feels towards being loved (he feels unworthy of it ur honor)

keep in mind this fic is.. gonna be both fluff filled AND angst filled (did you think i’d ever let you and jason always be happy? lmao no. ur getting the same treatment my ocs do)

In the eyes of the world, you didn’t matter. You were nothing more than a pest, a filthy rat scurrying around Gotham City. Even if you haven’t lived here your whole life, you still became a part of it’s problem. Not like you had any choice, considering you were but a child. Long since abandoned by your parents in a city you’ve since skipped and left, you find surviving in Gotham just as hard. But it’s tolerable. You know how to defend yourself, with bruises and healing knuckles to match. Gotham wasn’t an easy place to survive, much less for someone who barely knew how the city worked. All you knew is that danger was constantly lurking, in every corner and every street. You had no wariness of who the streets belonged to, of the rules etched into its architecture. All you knew of was survival.

Scavenging whenever you could, stashing the little food you could. Of course, because of you being essentially new to Gotham you weren’t aware of the rules. Or the territories and who owned what. All you knew was to run and fight to survive. Perhaps thats why he took a pittance to you. Seeing you do your hardest to survive, like him. He’s a scrawny kid, like you are. You’re both doing what you need to, in order to survive. The first time he’d seen you scrambling to steal food in the section of Crime Alley that he’d gotten in exchange for selling out his parents, Jason felt like you and him would get along. Defending this strip of land was lonely, granted him few allies considering no one wanted to even attempt to challenge him.

The first time you two talk, you worry he’ll attempt to take your hard-earned spoils like anyone else had. You’d clutched them closer to yourself, almost glaring and poised to strike like a snarling dog. The only difference being the lack of bared teeth. At the time, you were more like a wounded, cornered animal. You’d been injured because of a previous fight, pain flaring in what felt like all over whenever you attempted to move. So moving around was futile, the headache that accompanied it being the source of most of your discomfort.

It was cold, as cold as the alley you called home was dirty. It smelled and was located right outside some bar that smelled absolutely horrid. A putrid stench that lingered and seeped into the clothes of whoever hung around it. The stench clung to both you and him, mixing with the smell of car exhaust, trash, gasoline, and the other smells that clung to Gotham about as well as it’s crime rate.

But that’s fine. Jason’s been sitting still, inching closer to you every few hours. You’ve been defensive, and Jason doesn’t quite get why he is bothering at all to get you to trust him.

The first week he meets you it’s all he seems to do. When he’s finding himself food he can’t help but let his thoughts drift back to you, the only other scrappy kid that has bothered to stay around in what is essentially his turf for longer than usual. Jason’s come to learn most of what makes you tick, for the most part. Like how you refuse to move when he’s present or even looking at you, how you refuse to eat when he’s present. Jason doesn’t even get why he still bothers with you.

And you?

You don’t get it either. You don’t get why this kid just keeps coming back. You don’t bother talking back to him, just sitting there and nursing what hurts. The alley smells enough to make your head pound and hiding behind the dumpster when more rowdy drunken folk stumble outside for a variety of things. But you make it work, you suppose. And you don’t mind how the free food that comes with his company. You don’t get him sometimes, though. Don’t get his tenacity. Why he still bothers.

But maybe it’s because you also don’t understand looking forward to his short, fleeting visits. But perhaps it’s the idea that the moment your stupidly painful bruises and whatever else is wrong are healed and you can move, that he’d up and disappear. The silence between you both is as equally unsettling as it is comforting. The faint chatter of drunken patrons from the bar you rest near is just loud enough to have the same faint buzz of insects. And the air is warm and putrid, filled with the hideously disgusting odors that every city such as Gotham brings. Just any other sensible Gotham kid would give you a wide berth, but yet here he is.

Here this random scrawny street kid is, insistent on getting you to trust him. He used to talk to you, or try to. His words were always met with silence on your end. But perhaps he only continues to try after the first time he heard what sounded like a faint breathy laugh underneath that sigh you’d made to cover it up. You can’t even remember what he’d said that had been funny, but he does. It was a stupid joke, something about how this disgusting alley was at least a little warmer and better than the colder, draftier parts of the city and that the warmth was the only thing that made it worth staying in. Truth be told you’d rather be anywhere but here, even back with your parents even if they just might barely give a damn. But it was warm and never smelled. Maybe that’s why you laughed, because there was places better than this shit-hole of a city you now called home.

Yeah, maybe that was it. Maybe that’s why he sticks around, you think. Jason thinks that’s why, too.

I've read le guin's the dispossessed and always coming home, I've read some iain banks with very mixed feelings, read and was middling on a half-built garden, am about to finish everything for everyone and waiting to pick up the faggots and their friends between revolutions. where should I go next?

ty for your patience on this! utopian fiction is tough to write and tough to find, especially well-written (I have issues with AK Press's Black Dawn series for precisely this reason...lots of really great political/cultural speculation and utopian imagining, with some shit-to-mediocre prose.)

that said, a few (e)utopian - that is, works that may imagine 'better' worlds and in so doing imagine different worlds, worlds with new genres of problem even as they presuppose some issues (capitalism etc) have been meaningfully addressed/not existed int he same way) - works I rec:

Once isolated, they went house to house, methodically killing, mutilating, and kidnapping. There was little thought given on which house to burn first. The randomness of evil is part of its sickness.

As I walked through the village, I saw scene after scene of this evil sickness—children’s rooms riddled with bullets, blood splattered LEGOs. Entire families slaughter and their bodies burned clutching each other. The most awful were the safe rooms.

Every house in the kibbutz has what, in effect, resembles a bomb shelter. Many turned into nurseries or kids rooms. They had windows and thin doors that could not lock. When the alarms sounded, most civilians entered these underground bunkers thinking they were safe. Yet they became the scenes of some of the most horrific acts.

I heard stories of parents clutching the door shut by hand, as bullets strayed by. A terrorist appeared suddenly at the window—like something out of a bad horror film. A father or mother full of bullet holes holding the door closed with their last breaths as the terrorist yanked it open.

They sprayed the bunkers with bullets or tossed in a grenade, smoke from burning tires filled the room. All life was soon exterminated.  

The killing continued for hours. Over time what appeared to be non-Hamas Gazans arrived and scavenged the houses for loot, stepping over dead women, children, elderly. Some spirited Israelis back into Gaza.

how to make your moodboard get lots of likes, reblogs, and comments?

First of all: hi there! We're incredibly sorry for the late response. Truth is, when we first received this ask, none of us quite knew how to answer. So we wanted to formulate an answer together over a phone call. Only by the time we managed to find time for the call, we had kinda forgotten. And according to Tumblr this ask has been slumbering here for over two years (yikes!). We're really sorry about that.

But to finally answer your question: we have no idea, lmao. The truth is that some moodboards just hit the nerve of people and others don't - you have little to no control over it. And that's okay!

You simply have to find joy in the creation of your edits itself, otherwise you'll never be really truly happy. Because even if your moodboards get a certain treshold of notes consistently - it's not going to be enough after a while. And in the end you'll focus so much on the numbers itself that your hobby will become a chore. Certain works might not get the same attention as others that are similar and it's gonna eat you alive. Never let it come to this point. Take breaks from posting or social media itself if you get thoughts like that. Create for yourself first, sharing with others should always be secondary.

That being said, there are a few things to look out for when you do decide to put something up:

 Have a good tumblr etiquette. Most people find new stuff via seeing it on blogs they follow, rather than scrolling through the (bot fuelled) tags. So in order to make sure people know your blog (and therefore you works) exists, go scavenge the tumblr tags and reblog the fanworks you personally like. Leave the creators a nice comment and they might look through your stuff as well and share it with their followers.

 Some fandoms have dedicated network blogs that don't require a membership and have their own network tags. For example #/staydaily of @/staydaily. By including such a tag in your work, the networks will see your post and queue it to their blog. Important: read the actual requirements the networks put up. They might aks you to become a member of the network before they share your works, or won't reblog certain types of content. Just pay attention to their info posts, essentially.

 Find well frequented tags and use them. This might sound counterintuitive after everything said so far, but there are a good amount of people who are subscribed to tags itself. If you manage to find tags under popular posts which match your works use them by all means. Just make sure you're not wrongly tagging your content. Nothing's more annoying than having a bunch of falsely tagged stuff in your search results.

The latest Tarkov wipe for the high-stakes online survival game, Escape From Tarkov, is now out, and the patch notes for version 0.13.5 give us a detailed look at what to expect. Escape From Tarkov 13.5 offers a lot to explore with the addition of a new fight, the expansion of the Streets of Tarkov map, and a ton of new tools and gear that can be found scavenging. Quality of life - The user interface of the trade, quests, and Ragman services screens has been redesigned. - The player can now quickly equip or replace an item with any of the available items in the stash via a drop-down menu by clicking on character slot. - The FPS meter no longer overlaps the raid timer. - Double-clicking on consumables automatically uses the item. Smokey Mountain is a location in the center of Manila where a mountain of trash rises above the nearby slums. The area is home to approximately 5,000 families, including two young boys who are struggling to survive in the harsh conditions of the city's unofficial dumpsite.

Meet Francisco, a 7-year-old boy who lives with his family in a simple home made of waste materials. He spends his days searching through the trash heap for anything that could be traded for food or sell. Francisco's parents, who are also scavengers, struggle to sustain their family due to their poor financial situation.

"Kumusta, Francisco? Ilang taon ka na at sino ang nagturo sa ‘yo mamasura?"

“Tinuruan ako ng aking ama at nakakatandang kapatid kung paano magbenta at maghukay sa basurahan ng limang taong gulang pa lamang ako.” Francisco stated.

Besides being exposed to the dangers of the garbage dump, Francisco and his family are constantly at risk for contracting infections and having health issues due to living in a polluted environment. Despite the challenges he faces, Francisco is hopeful and determined about building a better life for his family. Francisco tried to talk to his father about their state in life.

Francisco's father sobbed, "Sa sobrang hirap ng buhay, wala akong mahanap na ibang trabaho para umunlad man lang ang ating buhay dahil hindi ko natapos ang aking pag-aaral noong ako’y bata pa lamang."

Juanita, a 9-year-old girl, lives on Smokey Mountain.

A girl who calls Smokey Mountain home is 9-year-old Juanita. Unlike Francisco, Juanita is an orphan and lives with his grandmother in a small, dilapidated shack. Juanita's parents died when he was young, and since then, she has been forced to fend for herself.

"Kumusta, Juanita? Sino ang kasama mo sa buhay at kung bakit ka namamasura?"

"Matanda na si lola kaya ang ginawa ko namamasura na lang ako para may pang kain kami kahit papaano. Si lola ang nag alaga at nagturo sakin kung paano mamasura, ang mga magulang ko naman hindi ko na sila na kita."

"Ayaw mo ba mag-aral Juanita?"

"Wala naman mag-papaaral sakin eh, sa sobrang hirap nang buhay namin hindi ko na iniisip yun, mas mabuting may laman ang sikmura namin ni lola."

Juanita spends the most of her days collecting used plastic bottles and scrap metal, which she sells to recyclers in exchange for money. But even his education is barely covered by her wages, let alone the cost of his grandmother's meals.

this is a common misconception, but is not actually entirely true!! from midway through superboy (1994)'s run onwards, the editorial mandate that kon could not be kryptonian got relaxed more and more, and we went from things like final night not impacting him to him being vulnerable to kryptonite, recharged by solar energy, and being depowered by red sun, when some giant filters got put up in space to turn all sunlight reaching earth red (...yeah, i know. comics, man.):
