Why is everyone celebrating the CEO's death? He didn't deserve to be killed. No one, unless you're the worst of the worst, deserves to die. No one.

They overestimate the actual level of control a CEO has in a publicly traded company like the one he was running.

Guy could have gone in and tried to make some massive sweeping changes to coverage and all cost and all that good stuff and then what would happen is the shareholders would come in and kick his ass out of there because profits are down or they might even be posting a loss.

For a company that size his salary was actually on the low end too.

But people just want a villain and he's convenient right now, especially with other goings on in the world experiencing a sea change when it comes to things to scream and yell about.

If people really want to find the villains out there they need to look past the CEO's of these companies though, gotta find out who the ceo answers to.

They don't deserve to be murdered either though.

Ok this post is a lil old BUT I do know the answer (as someone who has read all the books, yes all 30).

TLDR: Anita can grate on a reader's nerves at times and if you want to make 99% of the male characters one of the protags of your fic you're forced to either include her somehow or find a reason why she isn't showing up.

So to preface, the series has been going for a while (first book came out in 1993), I mention this because for a good chunk of the series Anita has a bit (a lot) of a "not like other girls" complex that does get pretty grating at some points.

Think if Buffy was a grumpy tomboy.

Now, this was not an uncommon character trait to have, especially for a female lead at the time, in a book series that (started out) about hunting monsters and solving crime, what was at the time considered a more masculine type of role.

Now, as the series went on, especially the last few books, she's cooled off on the "not like other girls" attitude and internal monologue, and the author added in some backstory here and there about why she acted that way (in short, step-mom and step-sis were uber girly girls, and she went in the complete opposite direction as a rebellion/defense mechanism).

Anita also tends to be very hard-headed about her beliefs and way of doing things, so she would often make life very hard on most of the main men in the cast when she could have simply talked it out and/or went along with it for the sake of them not getting screwed over by the decision.

Speaking of the men, I think they and their close ties to Anita are the second point in why people often portray Anita as a bitch or villain in fanfics: she is literally magically tied to most of them, so either the fanfic author picks a point in time before the first book when she wasn't tied to anyone, they make her a part of the story (because in canon she would/could not leave anything alone, especially if someone was in need of help, and there is no way in canon to tear someone she's magically tied to away without one/both dying) or they make her an antagonist.

Now there are A LOT of male love interest in this series (and some female lovers added later on in the series), there's really a type for almost anyone reading at some point. But like mentioned before, if you want to do a story with some of them as main characters, either add Anita in some capacity or set it during a time before the books.

Another thing I'll add before I finish this mini essay, because the series started so many years ago and it being a book only fandom, a big chunk of people writing fanfics were older. I use were, because this fandom was from back in the day when fandoms had their own websites for fanfics (it wasn't allowed on Fanfiction.net, because the author does not like fanfiction and was on the banned fandoms list on there).

The series had their own sister fanfic sites named Pomme de Sang and Sourdre de Sang, starting from 2005. The archives went offline unexpectedly some time during or after March, 2017 with no warning, and since people didn't really do backups in those days A LOT of works were lost.

Some have since posted their old works to AO3 (god bless the site, may it never be taken down), but a lot have not/could not and were discouraged from writing again after or just had moved onto other things.

Now from what I can tell, a decent chunk of people writing in the Anita Blake universe are younger and likely are mainly borrowing the very interestingly set up world and maybe a couple characters and/or didn't read all the books, so never got to the point where Anita became chiller and more likable.

I never read the books, just fanfics that are crossovers, but why does it seem like people hate Anita Blake?

For what I have planned for this AU (and the eventual fic), I honestly go back and forth a LOT on whether Bruce would let his kids turn him.

A part of me even wonders if Alfred would accept the offer. I think it would pain him to put his grandkids in a position where they might have to live without him, but I also think Alfred would feel that he's lived a very fulfilling life. It wouldn't be a decision he makes lightly and regardless of what his choice would be, the Batkids would respect it.

Personally, I feel the issue would be a lot more delicate and complicated for Bruce. I genuinely believe Bruce would be content with his humanity and I could even see it playing a part into his moral code. The setting I have in mind for this AU is a more supernatural Gotham (though to be fair, vampires/werewolves/magic just exist in DC canon so it's not that much of a stretch). The only big difference that I can see in this AU vs actual DC canon is just that vampirism is more commonplace and comes with its own set of complicated societal issues.

Because of that, I could see Bruce viewing his humanity as a tool to help him feel for the fear and pain of others. Also a big part of Bruce's identity as Batman was him attempting to transform his own fears into something he could use to fight against the evil and corruption he saw in Gotham. I think there might be a small bit of Bruce that worries that gaining vampiric abilities would rob him of his identity/motivation.

There's also the fact that Bruce in DC canon is already an outlier among the Justice League for being one of the very few humans with no supernatural/magical/alien/meta/god-like abilities. So placing him in a world where a good portion of the populace is made up various types of vampire wouldn't really change much in that regard.

I think he'd actually find a little bit of enjoyment in the fact that being a normal human guy doesn't stop him from kicking supernatural ass. And having a literal coven made of vampiric children to help him out doesn't exactly hurt, either.

Ultimately, though, what I think Bruce would struggle with most is the idea of putting his kids through the horrible ordeal of burying him. Especially considering that he knows how they'd all react if he ever rejected their offer.

Which is why nobody ever brings the idea up. All the Batkids know how important being human is to Bruce and they know it would be painful for everyone involved to even ask. I have to imagine that their have been many late night discussions between the Batkids about how terrified they are of the possibility of losing Bruce even if it would be to a natural death. Some of them were human before they were turned as well. So a few of them would understand where Bruce was coming from even if they don't like the idea of him dying human.

But like I said before, I think Bruce would start to feel guilty and even a little disgusted with himself as well. Bruce knows very well how painful it is to lose a parent and most of his children's trauma stems from similar experiences. The thought of putting his kids through the same thing again definitely eats him up inside the older he gets.

If I had to pick a time when Bruce would ever be open to the idea of being turned, it would have to be the day he officially retires from being Batman. Whether that's due to a serious injury, old age or because Gotham truly doesn't need him anymore, that's hard to say.

Even then, I don't think any of the Batkids would actually offer to turn him until Bruce brings it up first.

Jace didn’t think it was a secret he’d had a crush on Simon – he had been very vocal about that, after all he’d called Simon pretty to his face when they were in the Seelie Realm, but then everything at the court had happened and things between him and Simon became much more awkward, what with Jace being the reason Simon and his girlfriend broke up. Even though, painfully ironically, the one Jace would have wanted to kiss at that court had been Simon, not Clary, who he had come to look at as a sister in the time they’d believed themselves to be siblings.

Jace had developed a crush on Simon very early on; the nerd was hot and his rambling was cute. But inexplicably, Simon seemed to be falling from one relationship into the next – from his mundie bandmate, to Clary, to a very brief attempt at dating Maia, before getting together with Raphael. Every time Jace thought he’d have an opening to at least hook up with Simon, the vampire was already involved with someone else. And Simon never approached Jace himself either, despite Jace’s blatant flirting, so… Simon had made it clear he wasn’t interested.

And that was fine. Jace knew he was a lot to handle and not for everyone. However, what Jace wanted was some time and distance so he could get over his stupid crush on Simon. And being the personal liaison of the vampire clan led by Simon and Simon’s mate? That was the absolute opposite of what he wanted or needed right now.

In no particular order, because I don't have the emotional capacity to pick my favorite characters and then pick a most favorite on top of that:

1. Liu Qingge (The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System)

I can't not love this guy. He's competent, honorable, and protective. His capacity for love is ... insane. He's so hardworking and diligent. And Cheng Luan (his sword) is epic!

2. Kozume Kenma (Haikyu!!)

In a lot of ways, Kenma reminds me of myself. I don't like large crowds or being forced to socialize. Like him, I'd rather have some alone time and focus on my personal hobbies and interests.

3. Senju Tobirama (Naruto)

I'm sure this choice doesn't shock anyone who's read my Naruto fics. Tobirama is hyper-competent. I am fascinated by the ruthlessly practical way his mind works. I adore that he creates new jutsu to achieve the seemingly impossible.

4. Hua Cheng (Heaven Official's Blessing)

Eight. Hundred. Years. Of. Devotion. Need I say more?

He's also a total BAMF.

5. Jon Antilles (Star Wars)

This one, I blame on Kat. I've never read the books/comics he apparently appears in. But Kat's written so many brilliant fics featuring him that I love him anyway. He has the coolest Force powers! Healing, growing plants, teleporting, walking through walls, etc. My obsession is legit.

6. Lan Jingyi (The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation)

He's a cultivator who's terrified of ghosts. And he faces them anyway! He's an extremely loyal friend. Also, Lan Jingyi is 100000% a Chaos Gremlin ™ and I have a serious weakness for those.

7. Thorin Oakenshield (The Hobbit)

... How am I supposed to pick anyone else after he sang Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold in the first Hobbit film?!

He's also loyal, loves his family and people, perseveres when most people would give up, etc.

8. Dabi (Boku no Hero Academia)

Everyone will think I'm possessed if I don't have at least one villain on this list. 😂

Dabi's character design, Quirk, backstory, and motivations fascinate me. Like a moth to flame (pun intended), he draws me in.

9. Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf)

He's just ... a flailing, intelligent, rambling, snarky, hyper-loyal, cutthroat amalgamation and I can't do anything but love him.

10. Q (James Bond)

I think this list has thoroughly established that I love competent and intelligent characters. Q's ingenuity delights me. I also adore when he engages in word play.

ALPACA COLOURING PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My church used to do a live nativity thing for Christmas, they'd have llamas or alpacas or both at it sometimes and I always held my tongue about them being wildly out of place because for one it's pretty irrelevant and splitting hairs like that can annoy people which brings me to two, I didn't want them to stop bringing them out for it in a weird attempt to be location accurate.

I was bummed when we stopped doing it.

Why is AO3 still saying I have 200 works when I just put up another one? It be 201 now, not 200…

I did have another story I wanted to put up but I’m still working on it so I decided to do a poem today/tonight and then, hopefully, tomorrow I’ll put the story up.

I need to finish my two open works also. Soon I hope.

To put the months together I have to delete all my series I have them underneath and put them in one correct? (I feel as if I have to many stories in too many series but I also like it that way. So maybe I’ll leave it and just add on when I finish the open stories to December. Or put November and December together….)

Edit: My works above say 200 but below says 1-20 of 201 by Airasilver so it is showing. Just not where my Dashboard, Preferences, etc is.
