Been relistening to a plethora of Skillet songs (mainly because I realized I can appropriate them for my gay stories mwahaha) and piggybacking off of that one post that talks about how fucking thirsty Christian songs are: old Skillet songs are SO HORNY.
Mind you, I grew up on this shit so imagine six year old me crooning about being thirsty for and craving god’s presence. It’s fucking hilarious and almost borderline uncomfortable in that context. The newer ones are mostly fight songs about how “we won’t die we’ll stand up and keep fighting they can never tear us down” as if Christians are the most persecuted minority in the world. “Waaah they’ll tell us we can’t practice our faith and try and murder us for it” my brothers in Satan that was YOU murdering and conquering others for not following your religion, get over yourselves.
Anyways. I like imagining my little queer characters fighting with magic and swords to them.
#just some thoughts from the morning#I literally made a playlist called ‘skillet songs I’m appropriating for my gay little stories’ lol#don’t get me wrong skillet goes hard#just a little too hard in some directions lol#but it was like the coolest fucking music I could listen to when I was a kid#cause a lot of Christian bands are more worship based or at the time were infecting the pop scene#and we listened go air1 on the radio a lot so#anyways#skillet#me#Patton rambles

If you’ve ever wondered why it seems like every other station on your dial is Christian rock, EMF [the Educational Media Foundation] is a big part of your answer. From its headquarters in a Nashville suburb (the organization is slowly relocating from its longtime home of California), EMF plays the generic sounds of contemporary Christian music, or “CCM.” It is a genre that everyone from artists and critics to church leaders have decried as being somewhere between “the absolute worst” and “doctrinally unsound.” But the Educational Media Foundation has quietly become the country’s fastest-growing radio chain and second-largest station owner in the country, bested only by iHeartRadio. With hundreds of cookie-cutter stations branded as “K-LOVE,” as well as its smaller chain of “Air1” stations, EMF broadcasts on more than 1,000 signals across all 50 states and some U.S. territories, reaching an estimated 18 million listeners a week. On the surface, EMF’s broadcasts are glaringly apolitical. They opt instead for their trite brand of Christian rock, all teed off by the same, small cast of nationally syndicated, Anywhere-USA DJs who smile through everything from squeaky-clean jokes about the drink sizes at Starbucks to prayers asking God to watch over those who have donated to the organization. But behind its politically neutral facade, the organization — and the CCM industry more broadly — appears to be an inherently conservative project. Many right-wing Christian culture bearers have long believed in the “Breitbart Doctrine” — the idea that, to change politics, you must first change culture — and have fought for decades to build a parallel popular culture free of sharp edges, hard questions, or representations of lives that veer from the straight and narrow.
[...] But EMF’s story isn’t just about bad music taking over the airwaves in service of a cultural vision that is overwhelmingly white, straight, and artistically regressive. It’s also the story of the near-demise of local radio — a longtime haven for new music, artistic outcasts, and political dialogue — at the hands of a tax-avoiding not-for-profit organization that appears to operate like a very-much-for-profit media mega-corporation. For decades, EMF has hidden behind a veneer of uncoolness while honing a signature technique: At big commercial stations and small, beloved community-radio stations alike, they’ve offered the owners an undeniable sum of money, wiped out the local presence, and replaced it with unmanned transmitters.

Buffalo Radio Station in Erie County was sold to EMF's K-LOVE
(Prepared by Lincoln Loud & Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Stringer Correspondent of Nickelodeon News and Freelance News Writer, Reporter and Presenter of OneNETnews)
BUFFALO, NEW YORK -- In the first week of June 2023, Educational Media Foundation (EMF) acquired WTSS-FM in the Amherst town of Erie County, the said city of New York was reportedly purchased from Audacy Inc. worth U$D15.5M (roughly PHP865.6M or CAD20.7M). Around last Friday morning at 10am (June 9th, 2023 -- Buffalo local time), a local hot adult contemporary FM radio station Star 102.5 will be moved to a new frequency and rebranded to Kiss 98.5mhz covering between the borders of Southwestern Ontario in Canada and the United States of America (U.S.A.).
(Radio Programme Logo via Star 102.5′s FB Post)
Per morning radio host named Rob Lucas and midday radio host Sue O' Niel told exclusively to Star 102.5, a public christian music radio group will soon join K-LOVE, which is expected to begin broadcasting on the frequency by late mid-June 2023.
Listeners in Canada, particularly in Southwestern Ontario, have been relying on WTSS-FM's powerful signal producing up to 110,000 watts for almost 5 decades now for their daily dose of radio entertainment and news outside the Buffalo area. The FM station has undergone several name changes over the years since mid-November 1946, from WBEN-FM's Rock 102 during its inception in 1974 until its now iconic name as Kiss 98.5.
Along with EMF's ownership of Air1 & K-LOVE, based in the suburb of Franklin in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A., a public non-commercial music radio group serving 1,000 FM stations statewide -- under both the aforementioned christian music radio formats.
(STOCK PHOTO via Townsquare Media)
Aside from WTSS-FM's Kiss 98.5, Townsquare Media is taking over with a new and different frequency after Star 102.5, which is now WMSX-FM's Star 96.1mhz (formerly The Breeze) in Buffalo, per reports from the Radio Insight.
Within moments at the end of the 9am hour, the station will no longer broadcast from this FM dial, causing concern among its targeted or specific demographic audiences. The Canadian and Buffalo listeners of Star 102.5 have been thrown into chaos due to its imminent broadcast closure, because it was nothing to do between the broadcast management of Audacy Inc. and EMF.
In an industry where the listening rating wars and fierce competition abound, such as the music radio sectors with stations like K-LOVE and various FM radio channels in Canada and America, what's favored today may be tomorrow's afterthought.
At present, the FM station turns to their Top 40 and Contemporary Hit Radio needs, which now spans from WKSE-FM to WTSS-FM.

[Music] The King - Chris Davenport
Following the April release of the critically acclaimed single “Plead The Blood,” GRAMMY®- nominated songwriter Chris Davenport drops a new worship anthem today titled “The King.” Both songs are featured on his upcoming solo album, TIME, slated for June 30 (Capitol CMG). Davenport shares, “‘The King’ is a victory song. Right out of the gate, we wanted to start from victory. I think too often Christians can look at the Cross and think that Jesus just barely eeked out a win, but the reality is that Jesus pummeled sin. He absolutely crushed the enemy. It was an onslaught and grace was the champion, so I wanted to write a song from that place of embracing the wonder of Jesus’ power, His life and resurrection, His authority, and His Kingdom still to come.” With “Plead The Blood,” which Davenport recorded with Cody Carnes and Brandon Lake (listen HERE), the song is currently top 20 at Air1 Radio and steadily climbing weekly. Since its release, it’s had 1.6M global streams and the video has received more than 500K views on YouTube. Chris Davenport has been a quiet, yet mighty fixture within the worship community for years, co-writing many of the genre’s biggest songs, including Phil Wickham’s “Hymn Of Heaven,” “Too Good To Not Believe” by Brandon Lake, and Cody Carnes’ “Be Glad.” He also contributed to Hillsong Worship and UNITED songs “Another In The Fire,” “Grace To Grace,” and “Seasons.” Established as a unique, authentic, influential voice and writer, Davenport is ready to release his own music and his 13-song debut Time. How Rich I Am
How Rich I Am
This blog was inspired from listening to Air1’s Christian radio DJ. He and his co-DJ were asking their audience what they did to economize. One listener said she cuts open the toothpaste tube and scrapes out enough toothpaste for several more brushes! That’s beyond my squeezing the tube with the use of a straight edge to push out the very last bit. I won’t be cutting up the tube. And…

so I don’t have bluetooth in the car I drive but I’m not the type of person who can handle just driving in silence cause of all the driving anxiety I get so I generally either listen to CDs or the radio (just like the good old days😭) …
anywayyyy Ive been going through an interesting life season and generally when life is more complicated/stressful/painful, I tend to listen to more worship/gospel songs kind of for prayer time with God and just cause it’s always helpful for me, Idk
but a lot of the time if I choose my own Christian music to listen to like outside of my car, I tend to go more to gospel-y music than as much of the other kinds of Christian music (Idk what it would be called but the Elevation worship or Hillsong kind), but I’ve been listening to a lot of air1 on my radio on my drives to and from school and work and all the places. yesterday on my drive home from school just after having some flashbacks and some things triggering my PTSD, Rescue by Lauren Daigle came on the radio. and y’all don’t judge me I know the songs been around for a bit but that was the first time I actually heard the whole song and 😭 WOW YALL
I’m sorry but literally every single word in that song hit me deep and like soaked into my skin. hardcore had me crying in the car

[Album] Benjamin William Hastings Shares New Music
Along with celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day with the world, Irish-born singer/songwriter Benjamin William Hastings drops a deluxe version of his self-titled project today. Titled Benjamin William Hastings (And Then Some) courtesy of Capitol CMG/Invorto, the album also introduces a new track, “Dragons.” The deluxe LP offers 39 songs, which includes live and acoustic versions from Hastings’ highly-acclaimed November 2022 debut. “25 songs on an album just weren’t enough, so I went and added a new song called ‘Dragons’ and a bunch of live and acoustic versions from the original 25 songs,” explains Benjamin William Hastings.“ I am excited to put this out into the world for people to have all of it in one place – even some live versions for them to see how they might want to play these songs in their churches if they wanted to. I hope you like it, all the tracks, all the versions, all in one place.” Additionally, the track “That’s The Thing About Praise” featuring Blessing Offor impacts radio today. Early plays of the song can be heard on networks and stations including Air1, Joy FM/St. Louis and WayFM. Benjamin William Hastings (And Then Some) also follows the special 50-track Songwriter Edition that was released in February which allowed him to dive deeper into his songs’ backstories while sharing more deeply about the array of topics from his debut – doubt, authenticity, faith, worship, imposter syndrome, being a husband and father, and ultimately a human. Known for offering honest self-expression and dynamic songwriting, threaded throughout each of his songs is Hastings’ uncanny ability to communicate vulnerable and authentic personal truths. Benjamin William Hastings is a world-traveling worship leader and member of Hillsong UNITED. His writing and vocals are featured on Hillsong UNITED’s RIAA® Certified Gold single “So Will I (100 Billion X)” and Hillsong Worship’s widely acclaimed “Seasons,” and he penned Cory Asbury’s No. 1 single.“ The Father’s House,” UNITED’s “Captain,” the church anthem “O Praise The Name (Anástasis),” and Brandon Lake’s current No. 1 single “Gratitude,” among many others. To date, his songs have been streamed globally more than 750 million times. Hastings is sharing many of his songs live while on Brandon Lake’s Miracle Nights Tour throughout this month and April, while earlier this year he joined Cody Carnes’ “God Is Good! Tour.” Benjamin William Hastings (And Then Some) Stream & Enjoy https://open.spotify.com/album/4zi1jv7OU8xDZxUi7hxXnE?si=fo1WI8hBTOms_Wp-PwnXaA Read the full article

Unspoken Announces “Help Is On The Way” To Radio; Arena Tour With TobyMac Launched
Centricity Music recording artist Unspoken showcases raw, authentic pop musicality across each of the 12 songs featured on the band’s acclaimed, bestselling album, Reason. Following the album’s title track becoming a multiformat No. 1 radio hit and two more Top 20 hit singles, “You’ve Always Been” and “Just Give Me Jesus,” the band releases its fourth single from the album, “Help Is On The Way,” to radio February 5.
A hopeful message for today’s world, “Help Is On The Way” was co-written by Unspoken lead vocalist Chad Mattson with band member Jon Lowry and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Jeff Pardo. The song and a remix of the track by David Spencer is also featured on Unspoken’s Reason Deluxe album.
“The title of this song was a phrase that we used in our house often as we were going through a deep season of anxiety about three years ago,” remembers Mattson. “We've since come out on the other side, but that hope to know that God had already mapped out our victory before we even entered the struggle was something that gave us the strength to get through.
“David said in Psalm 37 to be patient and wait for the Lord to act,” continues Mattson. “He also said in his older years in the same Psalm that he's never seen the righteous forsaken. God is on your side. You may not know when, you may not know how, but you can trust that help is on the way.”
Unspoken
Playing “Help Is On The Way” and its bevy of hits and fan favorites, Unspoken joins Multi-Platinum®, seven time GRAMMY®-winner TobyMac for his annual “Hits Deep Tour” that launches today.
