Advert Alchemy: The Music
In this series, Squideo is breaking down the eight key ingredients to turn your advertising content into gold! In the last edition, we examined the importance of a slogan in creating the perfect marketing campaign. This week, we’re looking at the heart of every video advert: the music.
The ultimate tone setter, choosing the right music will underscore your entire advertising campaign – reinforcing the tone of your brand, captivating the audience and ensuring memorability.
Why Does an Advert Need Music?
After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.
It’s a quote from 1931, but Aldous Huxley still has it right. Music will always take your advert to the next level. As we’ve explored in our Squideo Submarine series, music has a strong connection with memory and advertisers leverage this for one of five outcomes.
01. Evoke Emotion
This is the big one. Through music, you can influence an audience to feel the way you want them to. Looking for something energetic to get people onboard? Something understated to accompany serious footage? Make sure it matches your brand to avoid audience confusion. Don’t use a song about heartbreak to sell air freshener, and don’t use a song about the great outdoors to sell cinema tickets.
02. Inc. Identity
Creating a strong brand comes down to some key choices. The company name and logo. The slogan and tagline. The colour scheme and font style. And the music used in your media. Nothing brings a company’s identity together like a well selected piece of music that encapsulates a brand.
03. Transform Tales
Music can underpin the narrative of your advert, strengthening the story. Whether you use music to invoke a sense of adventure, compel an emotional response, or create a light-hearted atmosphere, music cues the audience to the most important part of the advert – whether they were watching or not. Nothing is more attention grabbing than a climactic swell of music.
04. Convert Customers
We’re all familiar with the call-to-action (CTA), but instead of using a voiceover or onscreen text consider delivering with music. We’ll explore jingles later on in the Advert Alchemy series, but consider how a song choice can influence a customer. In Coca Cola’s Hilltop advert (better known as Buy the World a Coke) the song reinforces the message: do something kind; buy your friend a Coke.
youtube
05. Advance Action
In 2015, Always launched a successful advertising campaign called #LikeAGirl. Targeting negative gender-related stereotypes about women and girls, #LikeAGirl is recognised as the second-most viral advertisement campaign worldwide. The advert is accompanied by a simple, understated score that slowly increases in volume as the advert moves away from stereotypes to focus on its uplifting message. The music supports the tonal shift without detracting from it.
What Type of Music to Use
There are two main music options to choose between: existing music and original music. Are you going to use music your audience is familiar with? Or create music to set your advert apart from the competition?
01. Last Night of The Proms
If you’re looking to save money, it’s a good idea to choose music that is in the public domain. A lot of classical and opera pieces fall under this category which has made them a favourite of television shows, films and adverts, helping these pieces stay at the forefront of the public consciousness despite their age.
Alton Towers used the Peer Gynt Suite: In the Hall of the Mountain King. Cornetto popularised ‘O Sole Mio for British audiences so well that people abroad have been bewildered by outbreaks of Just One Cornetto amongst travelling Brits who hear the tune.
youtube
02. Top of the Pops
Lots of adverts have used popular songs, and some can even take credit for popularising tracks. Unlike songs in the public domain however, these might come with a heftier price tag. It could be worth the cost, however.
One of the most notable examples of successful soundtracking can be found in Cadbury’s iconic 2007 Gorilla advert. Cadbury’s use of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight put the song back on the charts 25 years after its release, but it did more than repopularise one song. The visuals were popular enough to spawn spoofs in shows like The Mighty Boosh and Children in Need.
youtube
In 2016, it was voted Britain’s favourite advert. Not bad considering it has no Cadbury’s chocolate in it and no clear "message."
03. Name That Tune
Classical music and opera pieces may be easier to access, but there are other instrumentals to consider for your advert music.
The theme song from Chariots of Fire has been used repeatedly, for example, including in advertisements for The Olympic Games and Nike. When looking for the perfect music, consider some of the most impactful music from modern media. Think of film scores, television themes, or modern classical pieces that have perhaps not permeated the public consciousness yet.
https://vimeo.com/260803961?embedded=true&source=video_title&owner=82883588
04. Never Mind the Buzzcocks
For some companies, it’s not enough to soundtrack their advert with a hit song. They have to commission something just for them. The song We’ve Only Just Begun, for instance, was commissioned by an advert agency in 1969; when it was later covered by The Carpenter’s (after seeing the advert), the song became a top hit.
youtube
Perhaps one of advertising’s best-known music hits – I Want to Teach the World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony) – was developed by McCann Erickson for Coca Cola to run in its Hilltop advert. It became so iconic, the advert is still considered one of the greatest of all time and has become intrinsically linked to Coca Cola’s brand.
05. My Kind of Music
An original soundtrack is usually the hallmark of television and film, but occasionally an advert produces a piece of music so popular it becomes independent of the original piece. Take for example Chris Gunning’s theme for the Martini Bianco adverts.
youtube
Their advert series – The Right One – ran internationally during the 1970s. The music, reminiscent of a James Bond theme, was especially fitting for the brand. Martini, the vermouth producer, is thought to be the namesake of 007’s favourite cocktail.
Where Can You Get Music?
At Squideo, we’ve used a mixture of original songs and readily produced soundtracks. For the latter, we use platforms like AudioJungle and Envato Elements for royalty-free music.
Looking for the perfect music on your own? Check out the following options.
On Social Media. For advertisements run on social media, there is an option to embed music directly from streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music which gives you a good variety of songs without incurring any fees.
From Record Labels. Looking for something recognisable for an advert you want to share more widely than social media? Record labels offer advertisers music that’s under their ownership for royalty payments. The more your advert is shown and seen, the more you pay.
The Public Domain. Numerous websites host copies of public domain music, free to download and share without the risk of infringing copyright laws. Some of our favourites are Musopen, Open Music Archive and Digital History.
Directly From Artists. Interested in commissioning something original? If you don’t know any artists personally or through your business network, consider looking at freelance websites like Fiverr and Freelancer. Ensure the artist grants you the copyright at the end of the process.
Music Sites. Like Envato Elements, music from these sites is paid for either individually or on a subscriber plan. Once the track has been downloaded, you can use it as many times as you want.
Alternatively, if finding the perfect piece of music sounds like too much work, get in touch with Squideo. All of our videos include music. Have a look through our video examples to listen to some of our favourites!

Revolutionize Your Business Environment with Cutting-Edge Scent Marketing Diffusers
In today’s fast-paced business landscape, standing out from the competition and creating an engaging customer experience is more crucial than ever. While many companies focus on visual branding, there’s a powerful yet often overlooked tool that can transform the way customers perceive and interact with your brand: scent marketing. By incorporating cutting-edge scent marketing diffusers into your business environment, you can revolutionize the customer experience and create lasting impressions that go beyond visuals and sound.
How Scent Marketing Diffusers Work
Scent marketing diffusers are innovative devices designed to distribute fragrances evenly throughout a space. Modern diffusers use advanced technologies like cold-air diffusion to break down essential oils and scent particles into a fine mist that lingers in the air, ensuring a consistent and long-lasting fragrance.
Unlike traditional air fresheners, these diffusers provide precise control over scent intensity, allowing businesses to customize the fragrance experience based on their unique needs. Whether it’s a luxury hotel aiming for an elegant ambiance or a retail store wanting to create a lively and welcoming environment, scent marketing diffusers are adaptable to any business space.
Benefits of Cutting-Edge Scent Marketing Diffusers
Enhanced Customer Experience: The primary benefit of incorporating scent diffusers into your business is the enhanced customer experience. When customers walk into your space, the right scent can create an immediate and positive emotional response. Whether you want to evoke a sense of luxury, comfort, or excitement, a carefully curated scent can set the tone for how customers perceive your brand.
Improved Brand Recognition: Branding is all about creating consistency across various touchpoints. While logos, color schemes, and slogans play a significant role, scent can act as a powerful addition to this identity. Scent marketing diffusers allow businesses to create a signature scent that becomes associated with their brand. This unique olfactory identity can build brand recognition over time.
Increased Dwell Time and Sales: Numerous studies have shown that pleasant fragrances encourage customers to stay longer in a store, office, or business setting. The longer a customer stays, the more likely they are to make a purchase. Scent marketing diffusers play an essential role in creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages exploration, increasing dwell time and the likelihood of impulse buying.
Versatility Across Various Industries: Cutting-edge scent marketing diffusers are not limited to any specific industry—they can be applied in various sectors to enhance customer interaction and brand image. Hotels can create a sense of luxury with soothing, spa-like scents in their lobbies and guest rooms. Retail stores can increase foot traffic and enhance the shopping experience by diffusing scents that reflect their products, like leather or wood.
Key Features of Cutting-Edge Scent Diffusers
Programmable Settings: Many scent diffusers allow businesses to program specific settings for different times of the day or week. This ensures optimal fragrance dispersion and prevents scent fatigue, where customers stop noticing the scent over time.
Quiet Operation: Modern scent diffusers operate quietly, ensuring they don’t disrupt the ambiance of the business environment.
Eco-Friendly Options: Many diffusers use sustainable, eco-friendly essential oils and cold-air diffusion technology, reducing harmful emissions while delivering a premium fragrance experience.
Scalable Solutions: Whether you need a diffuser for a small boutique or a large commercial space, modern diffusers offer scalable solutions that can be tailored to different areas of your business.
Conclusion
Incorporating cutting-edge scent marketing diffusers into your business environment can revolutionize how customers perceive your brand. From enhancing the overall customer experience to increasing brand recognition and sales, scent marketing offers a multi-sensory approach to engaging with your audience. As the technology behind scent diffusion continues to evolve, businesses of all sizes can benefit from creating an immersive, memorable, and emotionally impactful environment through the power of fragrance.

Top 5 Wedding Gift Ideas
New Post has been published on https://smallgiftideas.org/wedding-gift-ideas/
Top 5 Wedding Gift Ideas
Top 5 Wedding Gift Ideas
Wedding season is in full swing. Whether you’re shopping for a soonlywed or just want to treat yourself, it can be hard to figure out what to buy.
Don’t worry; there are plenty of great wedding gift ideas you can shop for. From a glass cruet that’s sure to be used and appreciated to a personalized bowl that’s a sweet reminder of the day, we’ve got you covered.
Glass Cruet
Glass cruets are a great way to keep condiments like oil and vinegar fresh and stored safely. They also serve as a decorative addition to the dining table or kitchen countertop, and are available in a range of colors, sizes, shapes, and styles.
The first thing to look for in an oil and vinegar cruet is an airtight seal. If air can leak in, it will affect the quality of the vinegar. Plus, if any bacteria starts to grow in the bottle, the vinegar will lose its flavor.
A second factor to consider is the material in which the cruet is made. Cruets can be made of ceramic, porcelain, stainless steel, or glass.
Choose a cruet that is made from durable glass. This will ensure it can stand up to years of use, and that it won’t break or chip easily. Alternatively, opt for a stainless steel model for a more modern aesthetic. This will also help to ensure the cruet is safe for use around children or pets, as it’s a hygienic and corrosion-resistant material.
Just Married Candles
A candle is an ideal wedding gift for newlyweds. They can light it to celebrate their special day or use it for future anniversaries.
This scented candle is from our Library of Fragrance collection and features a warm “seashell” scent that’s perfect for a wedding celebration. It’s packaged in a glass jar with a personalized ‘Just Married’ slogan and metal lid for safe storage.
It’s a small but perfectly sentimental wedding gift idea that any couple will love. They can light it for a romantic evening and enjoy the beautiful aromas of champagne, fresh linens and seaside air.
Essential oil sprays are another great gift for a newlywed couple. They smell amazing and offer a variety of benefits like relaxing and freshening the atmosphere, helping them sleep better and easing stress.
For the adventurous duo in your life, give them a unique way to track their travels on their honeymoon or beyond. A pushpin map is a creative and stylish wedding gift that makes it easy to mark each destination.
Personalized Keepsake Bowl
Nothing says thoughtfulness quite like a personalized gift, and this gorgeous engraved glass keepsake bowl is a perfect example. Add your loved one’s name and a special message to the front of this blue bowl for a gift they’ll never forget.
Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, wedding, or other milestone occasion, this customizable keepsake box will serve as a place to store and display your fondest memories. Crafted from your choice of light and airy Basswood/Maple wood or rich Walnut, this box is impeccably crafted and hand-engraved to perfection.
This award-style crystalline bowl makes a beautiful presentation piece and is especially stunning when engraved with a personal message or a company logo. A fantastic gift to honor a retiring colleague, the men and women in blue, or a valued board member who deserves to receive an award that will be displayed with pride for years to come.
This engraved crystal keepsake box is a great way to keep all of your favorite mementos in one place. Ideal for storing art supplies, pantry staples, notes, recipes, photos and more, these boxes are a brilliant and thoughtful way to commemorate your most important moments.
Curated Spice Starter Set
When it comes to cooking, spices and seasonings are the essential ingredients that take a dish from bland to mouthwatering. The best spice sets are designed to turn an empty spice drawer into a gourmet oasis, while also keeping your kitchen tidy and smelling fresh.
One of the best is iSpice, a company that offers a set of 24 spices in a super-sized container with a convenient pour spout and a fancy sifter. The 18-tin package is a great choice for a novice cook or an aspiring chef looking to expand their collection.
The company’s curated spice rack is the real show-stopper, a well-designed storage solution that will make you want to whip up more healthy and delicious dishes. The swoon-worthy spice rack can be mounted on the wall or placed discretely in a drawer, making it a perfect gift for the modern couple who wants to save space and create a beautiful aesthetic.
The iSpice spice tins are a little on the small side, but the 18-tin set makes up for it with a healthy dose of flavor and an organized kitchen. The iSpice best-sellers are their ginger, cayenne, chili powder, garlic powder and cinnamon, with each spice in its own jar.
Tuft & Needle Sheet Set
If you’re looking to give a gift that will last for years to come, the Tuft & Needle sheet set is one option worth considering. It includes one fitted sheet and two pillowcases, in sizes ranging from twin to Cal king.
This set features soft sheets that are designed to get softer with each wash. They’re crafted from a 50/50 cotton and TENCEL(r) fabric blend that makes them wrinkle-resistant, breathable and resistant to pilling.
They’re also OEKO-TEX certified, which protects them from over 300 harmful chemicals commonly found in lower quality sheets.
Moreover, these sheets are made from long-staple Supima cotton that is both durable and luxurious, with a 215-thread count that provides a smooth feel for comfortable sleep.
These sheets are suitable for both warm and cool sleepers, and they’re also easy to care for. You can wash them in a household washer and dryer, on a gentle cycle using cold water.
They’re a little more expensive than other sheets, but they’re worth it in our book. Plus, they come with a 100-night sleep trial and free returns, so you can test them out before you commit to buying them.
Winc Wine Club
Winc Wine Club is a great gift for any wine lover. Its subscription service allows you to receive a curated wine box of 4 bottles based on your tastes and preferences.
The Winc website prompts you to fill out a short palette quiz and answer a few questions about your food and flavor preferences, then it matches you with four wines based on those answers. The site also provides a few descriptions for each wine so you can easily understand what it’s about.
If you decide you don’t want to get wine every month, you can cancel your membership with the click of a button. Unlike many other subscription services, you don’t get fines or surcharges, so it’s very easy to leave.
Winc sends educational cards to its members that explain each bottle’s terroir and appellation, tasting notes, and food pairings. These are incredibly helpful for those who are just getting started with wine. The company also specializes in addressing dietary restrictions and preferences, offering a 100 percent vegan line of wines and zero-sugar wines.
Brooklinen Move-In Bundle
If you’re looking for a great gift for a newlywed couple or a new homeowner, the Brooklinen Move-In Bundle is an amazing option. The bundle includes a set of sheets, a comforter, two pillows and two dual-core pillows.
It’s a must-have for anyone who wants to start sleeping better right away. It also comes with a one-year warranty and free shipping (for those in the US).
With Brooklinen, you know you’re getting high quality products that will last for years to come. That’s why their bestselling towels and sheets have thousands of raving reviews from loyal customers who can’t stop buying them.
You can choose from a variety of colors, including luxe long-staple Turkish cotton that’s soft and plush. It also comes in a range of bundle options to suit your budget.
Zink Photo Camera
The Zink Photo Camera is a cool gadget that lets you print instant photos directly from your camera. Instead of using traditional paper, Zink uses microscopic crystals to reveal an image.
The printer uses electronically controlled thermal pulses to activate the crystals and create prints on ZINK paper. It doesn’t use toners or ink cartridges, so it’s eco-friendly and saves money on printing costs.
It’s simple to use: you simply load a stack of ZINK sheets into the camera, press the shutter button and watch the print come out. It also comes with a free app that allows kids to make basic adjustments and add borders, text, and stickers before they print their images.
It has a small LCD display that’s easy to see, and it’s very affordable. It’s an excellent choice for couples who want to take pictures of their special day but don’t want to spend a fortune on a high-end digital camera.

The Early Bird Catches the Butterfly [Henri “Papillon” Charrière] - Pt. 1
pairing: Henri “Papillon” Charrière x OFC
summary: When the early bird and the night owl meet at the break of dawn, how long can they survive together in the light of day?
author’s note: Here is yet another contribution to the Papillon fandom. There will be a part two to this coming out next week. I hope you all enjoy this!
Charlie Hunnam Masterlist | Papillon Masterlist
Part 2 | Part 3
It all started at Amélie’s Boulangerie. The morning sun began to stretch over the horizon marking the beginning of a new day after a particularly long night. Papillon, still dressed in his clothes from the night before, found himself stumbling through the streets of Paris, his new home.
He had woken up half an hour ago between a half-dressed cocktail waitress and a half a bottle of the most expensive wine he’d ever had before.
Not a bad way to wake up.
He was one of the few people left behind in the extravagant party hall and he decided he’d better get home and freshen up for a new day.
He was just getting settled in the city, learning the ins and outs of the new business he had found himself shuffled into, like a single card in a deck in the hands of a blackjack dealer. He felt tossed around by people who wanted his attention and people whose attention he needed if he was gonna make a life here.
Nevertheless, it was a fantastic party with fantastic alcohol, fantastic women, and fantastic new contacts. That’s what Papillon reminisced on while he ran his hands through his messy hair, fixing it to his liking in the reflective surface of the silver platter that was left behind on a table nearby. He smoothed out his clothes and headed off into the quiet morning, fully intending to go back home.
He lit himself a cigarette, a habit he’d picked up in the countryside, one that only got worse when he moved to the city. It was hard not to when everyone around him was doing it. It’s how men bonded. It’s how the men he wanted to be like bonded.
Letting out the smoke in a controlled stream, Papillon took in the morning air that was disturbed by nothing but his presence. It was serene, quiet. Papillon assimilated to the tranquility, sauntering with one hand in his pocket and the other gripping his cigarette. The quiet clacking of his shoes against the pavement echoed in the air around him and he let himself exhale another puff of smoke.
He could finally hear himself breathe. Papillon didn’t realize how much he’d missed that sound until now. Sometimes the constant chatter, the boisterous laughter and the crashing of glass that was somehow always a guest at every party got too be too much after a while.
Papillon scoffed, he never thought he’d feel that way. He hated the countryside so much but he rarely had mornings like these to remind himself what he’d left behind. Still, he would never trade this life for that one.
There was a light breeze that ruffled Papillon’s hair, that sent the lapels of his blazer flapping about momentarily and carried the smell of warm pastries and coffee to his nose. His stomach rumbled at the intrusion and it had Papillon searching for the source of the smell.
He didn’t have to look very far. To his left, just a few feet away sat Amélie’s Boulangerie.
It was a small little cafe perched at the corner of the street. It was a white building with the company’s pastel pink logo in the front.
Papillon had been down this street thousands of times and never caught sight of the bakery. Maybe because he was always out here at night and Amélie’s Boulangerie was reserved for the early birds.
Coffee and a pastry did sound delicious right about now though. Papillon found the placement of the bakery to be convenient. After owls like himself prowled around the area in the late hours of the night, it was nice to find something that made it easier to get up the following morning.
Taking a final drag from his cigarette and flicking the remainder of it into the street, Papillon headed towards the bakery, the delicious scents only getting more and more pungent.
There was a little bell that rang when he opened the door and it rung throughout the small vicinity of the place. There was a counter with a register on top and a glass case full of fluffy, delightful pastries all the way from croissants to danishes to tarts.
Papillon’s stomach grumbled again as the smell of the baked goods and the coffee blended together perfectly in the air.
“Coming!” he heard from somewhere behind the counter.
Papillon craned his neck, noticing a door behind the counter that was slightly ajar. He stepped towards the glass case getting a better look at the products that were on display. His eye caught some croissants and even some danishes. Maybe he’d buy some for later.
It was just as Papillon was standing straight up again that she came bustling out of the back, hastily dusting off the white apron tied around her waist. Her dress was almost as pink as the sign out front and her smile was as bright as her eyes. Her curly hair was pulled back into a low ponytail that did little to perturb the rebellious way they sprung about wherever they pleased.
Papillon’s eyes locked onto her form as she made her way to the register. She was shorter than him, but the confidence in her smile made her presence fill up the entire room and it sent the left side of his mouth upwards.
“Good morning,” she greeted him kindly once she stood in front of him.
“Good morning.” His voice rumbled in his chest now, like a cheshire cat purring in delight as his crosshairs were immediately set on her.
“What can I get for you?”
“Let me get a croissant and a cup of coffee,” he replied, digging into his pocket.
Papillon watched as she typed the prices into the register before reporting his total. It didn’t matter. The bill he handed her was enough to cover that and then some.
“Throw in a couple of those apple danishes too,” he added.
Papillon didn’t miss the way her brown, doe-like eyes widened slightly at the sight of the bill — they were almost the colour of whisky: brown with a touch of translucency when the morning light hit them
She played it off, typing in the price of the rest of his order before she opened up the cash compartment of the register and handed his change back to him.
“Please, make yourself comfortable” she offered, gesturing to the long, empty counter with a few seats perched underneath it.
Papillon thanked her as he did just that. He watched her glide around behind the counter, grabbing a plate from one cabinet and a cup and saucer for his coffee in the other. She hovered around the intricate, metal coffee machine for a little while, making sure his coffee was going right into the cup before turning around with a white plate in her hand and pulling out the fluffiest croissant from the display case.
Papillon’s lip quirked up at the gesture and his smirk only widened when she had placed the cup of coffee and croissant right in front of him.
“How do you take it?” she nodded towards the coffee.
“Black is just fine,” he assured her.
She smiled at him, “I hope you enjoy it.”
“Thank you,” Papillon told her sincerely.
She grabbed a brown bag from underneath the counter and some wrapping paper before heading over to the display case again. Papillon watched her over his coffee cup as he drank, noticing how she, once again, picked out the best of the selection. This was evidently the perk of being the first customer of the day.
“Nice to know there’s another early bird around here,” she said as she placed the first danish down onto some paper to wrap it up in.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” he mused before taking a bite of his still warm croissant.
“How else would you put it?” she asked as she began carefully wrapping up each individual pastry and putting them in the brown bag.
“Late to the party but early for breakfast,” he replied.
“Still early,” she quipped with a small smile.
Papillon breathed out a laugh before he could stop himself. He pulled his cup of coffee up to his mouth, drinking for a prolonged amount of time, almost embarrassed that he’d done that.
“This is good coffee,” he commented.
“Thank you,” her voice was warm. “I hope the croissant is just as good.”
“It’s even better,” he assured her.
He watched as her smile grew at the compliment, “I’m glad you like them.”
He did, but Papillon wasn’t sure what he liked more: the coffee, the croissant, or her.
Papillon still hadn’t figured out the answer to that question despite being back several more times. It became a routine now: wake up the morning after a party, fix himself up — he now carried a comb for his hair, he’d pop a stick of gum in his mouth — and head off to Amélie’s Boulangerie. He’d have a few minutes to himself on his morning stroll over but once he was in the bakery, all of his attention was on her.
He ordered the same thing every day: black coffee with a croissant and some dessert for later. Those apple danishes he ordered the first time he came around were better than any other dessert he’d ever had. They were perfectly warm and stuffed with filling that oozed out the other end whenever he took a bite. Once he finished them, he was desperate to go back for more.
She eventually learned to be ready for his arrival, coffee and croissant practically waiting for him on the counter when he walked in, right in front of his usual seat.
“Why don’t you sit and have a cup of coffee with me?” he told her one morning.
“I wish I could,” she told him with an apologetic smile, “But I still have some cleaning up to do in the back.”
Papillon relented.
However, the next day, he ordered two cups of coffee and two croissants.
“Meeting a friend?” she asked him.
“She’s already here,” he quirked a brow at her.
She gave him a look, trying to counter his know-it-all smirk, but the glimmers of joy were sparkling through her eyes. She shook her head once before turning towards the coffee machine.
“Sit down,” she told him and her tone of voice told him she’d give in just this once.
And once was all Papillon needed.
She made two cups of coffee this time; hers diluted with some warm milk. She put two croissants on two plates, putting the fluffier one in front of Papillon.
She sat next to him and he couldn’t stop the smile forming on his face.
Each of them had a sip of coffee before Papillon said, “See, isn’t this nice? Taking a break from all the hard work.”
Every time Papillon came in, he always noticed how she’d come rushing out from the back, sometimes covered in flour, other times wiping her hair away from her face as she was huffing out her breaths, and other times she would be sweeping up the floor in the front. She never stopped working.
“It’s okay,” she shrugged, feigning dissatisfaction. She bit into her croissant to hide her smirk and Papillon mirrored her action.
“Give it a few more minutes. It’ll be good for you to sit down for a little while,” he advised her playfully. “Is this your bakery?”
“It was my grandmother’s,” she told him, “My mother ran it for a little bit when my grandmother died, but she passed away a short while ago.”
Papillon’s heart softened, “I’m sorry.”
She put on the best smile she could before changing the subject. “I don’t get many well-dressed men coming into the bakery at this hour,” she commented, “Where are you coming from?”
“A business meeting that ran late,” he replied.
“A business meeting,” she parroted, skeptical. “Seems more like a party,” she nodded to the clock in the corner. It was just approaching seven in the morning.
“A little bit of both,” he shrugged, meeting her skeptical stare with a nonchalant one.
“Must be an interesting line of work,” she commented. “I’m sure time slips away from you at these business parties.”
“It happens, yeah.”
“That would explain why you come in before we’re even open,” she told him before sipping on her coffee again, watching his reaction over the rim of the cup.
Papillon’s eyebrows pulled together in confusion as he looked towards the door. “The door was unlocked.”
“I forgot to lock it that morning,” she confessed, eyes stuck on the beige liquid in her white coffee cup. “You came in and I didn’t have the heart to turn you away,” she played it off, shrugging nonchalantly.
“Is that what happened?” Papillon questioned, that cheeky smirk appearing on his face again as he kept his eyes locked on her and her now shy look.
“Exactly,” she confirmed. “You looked out of place, like a lost little puppy and who am I to kick a lost puppy to the curb?” Her spark shone through despite her timidness.
“Is that why you kept the door unlocked?” He was careful as he inched forward a little closer to her, the smell of the bakery clinging to her.
“Like I said, I just didn’t have the heart.” If she noticed him moving towards her, she didn’t say anything, didn’t bat an eye, or twitch a limb.
“Come out with me tonight.”
Her brows raised slightly in surprise. “Where?”
“A business party.”
“I didn’t think outsiders would be allowed at business parties.”
“They usually allow a plus one.”
She paused, eyeing him, eyes flickering between his smirk that was quickly becoming a full-blown smile and his eyes. “You think it’s that easy?”
“I’m willing to bet my chances are good.”
“Is that what you do at these business parties? Gamble?”
“I choose not to get my hands dirty with that,” he feigned innocence although she was surmising he was anything but. “So what do you say?”
“I don’t even know your name.”
“Papillon,” he answered without missing a beat.
“Papillon,” she repeated. He didn’t know if she was clarifying that she’d heard him right or if she was getting the feel of his name on her tongue.
He watched her as she took her time, finishing her cup of coffee and the last few bites of her croissant all while contemplating her answer, but Papillon was sure she already had one.
“Okay,” she nodded.
Papillon downed his cup of coffee to hide his grin. “I’ll pick you up here, nine o’clock, Miss…”
“If you’re here on time tonight, I’ll tell you,” she propositioned.
“And if I’m late?”
“If you’re late by even a minute, I will go home and keep the door locked tomorrow morning.” Her voice held a taunting tone to it.
Papillon’s grin couldn’t be held back any longer. “I’ll be here at 8:30 then.”
And he was. Papillon sauntered in front of the shop that evening. The lights were all turned off inside and the door was locked. The building effortlessly blended into the background, not to be seen by the crowd that was bustling before him.
Papillon found himself leaning against the door as he fidgeted with a cigarette he’d pulled from the case in his pocket, trying to flip it up and catch it with his mouth. He was unsuccessful, but caught it with his hand instead before it fell on the ground.
His eyes would graze over the busy street, filing through each face as he looked for her. Couples were linked together arm-in-arm and friends paraded around the town living larger than life, but none of them were her.
A few more minutes had gone by before he heard her voice from beside him.
“I’m impressed, Papillon,” she said.
He turned to look at her. She stood taller now in her heels and she wore a dress that hugged her figure beautifully and an A-line coat to top it all off. Her hair was out of its ponytail and swayed in various directions, and curly bangs rested on her forehead now and framed her face. She must have kept them pulled back as she worked with a meticulously placed bobby pin holding them back. Her jewelry sparkled under the red light that drenched the street from the sign of the movie theatre nearby. There were small little studs in her ears and a dainty necklace resting against her collarbones.
Papillon wanted to spoil her rotten.
He looked to his watch. 9:01.
“So what happens if you’re late?” he looked up at her.
“It’s up to you,” she shrugged nonchalantly and put her hands in the pockets of her coat. Papillon noticed the beginnings of a challenge glimmering in her eyes. “You can take me with you or leave me here.”
The two stared at each other as her body swayed subtly but playfully. It did nothing to curb the temptation spreading through Papillon’s chest.
She knew. She knew he wouldn’t leave her here. Although neither of them would say it out loud.
There was a growing smirk on both of their faces that broke as Papillon stepped closer, deciding to overlook her tardiness.
“Does this mean I get to know your name now?” He played it cool even though he was enraptured by her.
She smiled before she placed a hand onto his forearm and leaned up to his ear. He met her halfway, leaned down and stayed still so he didn’t miss it.
She said it, faintly of course because that was all part of the game, and it was almost as sweet as the desserts she made.
Josephine.
He pulled back, their smiles mirroring one another.
Papillon took Josephine’s hand in his to pull her close, then under his arm. They joined the crowd of people and Papillon held her tight to make sure she didn’t get lost in the ebb and flow of bodies. She held onto him tightly, a firm arm wrapped around his torso as she let him lead the way, the both of them laughing whenever either of them stumbled into one another or received some unkind words from people they bumped into.
Soon enough, they were in the clear. However, they only had a minute of calm as they stood in an alleyway and Papillon knocked on the backdoor to this business party. Chaos resumed as the door opened and Papillon pulled her in.
Josephine didn’t miss the way Papillon greeted almost everybody at the party with stunning confidence that had the other ladies in the party eyeing him with lust evident in their gazes. It was the same confidence that piqued her interest. He looked so sure of himself.
She was surprised to find him outside the bakery on time tonight. She purposely showed up a little late because she was skeptical that he was completely serious about taking her out.
Still, she showed up, constantly questioning whether she should turn back and go home the entire way over. Josephine had gotten her hopes up for the first time in a long time and Papillon had yet to disappoint.
The music from the live band a few feet away from the entrance was booming and filled the room with pulsating energy.
Papillon noticed the surprise on Josephine’s face when she saw the bare-breasted women serving champagne on silver platters and the dancers on stage next to the band.
He helped her take her coat off, hanging it with the others in a nearby closet before leading her further into the party.
Papillon soon released her hand to grab two flutes of champagne a waitress was carrying by. He handed one to Josephine and the two of them tipped their glasses to one another before taking a sip.
He threw an arm over her shoulders, holding her close as they walked around the party. Papillon had to make his rounds and say hello to a few people. He even introduced her to some. Josephine was really good at talking to people; it was one of the first things Papillon noticed about her.
However, when she began to refuse anymore alcohol and was less enthusiastic in conversation, he asked her, “Should we go?”
Papillon just had to check in with Castili, drop off the stuff, get paid and they could be on their way.
Josephine nodded up at him and smiled gratefully. Papillon grabbed onto her hand and led her through to the back past the band and the dancers. The door shut behind them and muffled the music, giving them some relief from the conglomeration of noise.
They passed through the dressing room of the women that perused the party and they all greeted Papillon kindly. They were dressed in glamorous costumes with fluffy boas and shiny embroidery along the material on their bodies.
Papillon was just as kind in his response as he led Josephine all the way down the end of the hall and stopped at a door.
“Just give me a second in here and I’ll be out in a few minutes, okay?” he told her.
“Sure, okay,” she nodded, glancing at the women around her.
He noticed her timidness coming back and he felt bad to leave her behind out here but he’d prefer that she stayed out her rather than get acquainted with anyone behind that door.
“Nenette,” Papillon called over to the raven-haired woman.
She came through the crowd and appeared right in front of him.
“You mind looking after my friend while I talk to Castili?” he asked her.
“Sure, no problem,” she smiled up at him.
“Thanks,” Papillon smiled gratefully at her.
He then turned to Josephine, “It’ll just be a minute.”
She nodded in return, putting on her best smile to assure him that she was okay.
When Papillon disappeared in the room, the two women introduced themselves to one another.
“Is this your first time here?” Nenette asked her.
“Yeah. I didn’t even know parties this fancy existed,” she chuckled.
“Oh they’re a lot of fun,” Nenette assured her, “It’s good that you have Papi here with you. He’s a really good guy.”
“Yeah, he is,” she replied with a smile of her own.
“How did you two meet?”
“He’s a customer down at my bakery.”
“You have a bakery?” Nenette perked up.
“Yeah, you should come!” Josephine offered, “I’ve sort of started an early bird special since Papillon started coming around so early. I’d love to do the same for everyone else around here.”
Nenette’s smile faltered slightly but she nodded nevertheless. “I’ll tell some of the other girls about it,” she assured her just as the door to the room opened again.
Papillon was smiling at Josephine before his eyes shifted over to Nenette. He thanked her and Josephine said a goodbye to her before Papillon grabbed onto her hand and led them back the way they came.
They stopped at the door momentarily while Papillon wrapped her up in her coat again before they were back out in the alleyway.
Josephine let out a sigh of relief now that she could hear herself think again. “You do that every night?”
“I have to,” he shrugged, offering his arm to her. “It’s still business even though it’s a party.”
She wrapped her hand around his bicep and the two of them sauntered down the alleyway together. “What exactly is it that you do?”
“I’m in banking and investments,” he replied without hesitation. “I find profitable items that other people store away and bring it to my company’s knowledge.” It was a lie he had crafted and told hundreds of times but this time, it didn’t feel right.
“Oh wow,” she mused, “Sounds important.”
“It is,” he nodded, now throwing an arm around her.
“So you’re some sort of detective,” she smirked up at him.
Papillon’s chest rumbled with a laugh that Josephine joined in on and that made the bad taste in his mouth more potent.

The1: Seo Changbin
FLUFF and ANGST
a/n: since its my one year on tumblr i really wanted to write a changbin fic hehe so @0325stay and i worked together on this beauty <3 thank you for helping me write this
You were finally leaving. Your hard work paid off and now you were on your way to working with one of the biggest companies in the music industry, JYP. It was time to make a name for yourself as a producer.
The company was kind enough to pay for all of your expenses for this work trip and now you were seated in first class, wine glass in hand in your own private room on this flight. Making you even more excited to work for them and see what they have to offer.
9 hours later, you were woken up by the flight attendant to tell you that you were about to land and outside, you were welcomed by the thin clouds that separated the sky and the beautiful city down below.
Though it was night time, you were in awe at the sight of the colourful city lights, and the lit up buildings. You weren’t used to this. This was your first time flying alone internationally.
The plane landed smoothly and you grabbed your stuff and exited the aircraft. Making sure you thanked everyone on that flight and when you felt that Seoul air hit your face, you knew you made it. This was the start of your career.
It was a while before you could grab all your luggage and go through the gates, but when you did, it was packed and you had a hard time finding your ride.
You searched and searched, until you finally found the sign. A big poster that had your name on it with JYP Entertainment’s logo that was being held by a man that was just waving it around, hoping that someone would approach him.
“Hi! I’m Y/N… I’m guessing you’re my ride?”
The man looked at you up and down and then put the poster down. He gave you a warm smile and extended his hand out to you as he introduced himself.
“I’m Changbin and yeah I am. JYP sent me over to take you to the hotel and I brought you some dinner as well.”
Changbin took the heavy bags from your arms and guided you all the way to the car. You got in the front seat and whipped out your camera. Excited to see the views during this ride and capture every moment since you knew this was only temporary.
He started driving through the quiet roads then into the busy cities where you were surprised to see the city still so alive at 2am. People were singing, laughing, dancing, just hanging out with friends under the bright lights.
Click, click, click. That’s all Changbin heard throughout the ride. He was confused since he thought you were going to live here, but he didn’t want to bother you with all these questions. There was something about you that just immediately caught his attention, but he didn’t know what it was.
Maybe it was the way you found everything so fascinating, or maybe it was just because this was one of the very few times he was going to be around someone who was from a different country. He didn’t know just yet.
When you two finally reached the hotel, he hopped out and grabbed your bags. Checking you in under the company’s card and then bringing up your bags to your room. Also handing you your dinner and then saying his goodbyes.
“Good night. I’ll be back by lunch to pick you up for work… Sweet dreams”
But before he shut the door, he asked one more question.
“What’s your number? You know, so I can call or text you before I pick you up.”
You exchanged numbers and then he shot you a smile on his way out. You already knew you two were going to get along, there was just something about him.
The morning came and you slept like a baby because of how tired you felt from travelling. You were only awakened by the sound of your phone ringing. It was Changbin. You overslept and now you had a little less than an hour to freshen up.
You rushed yourself. All your clothes were already scattered, your bathroom was a mess, and you were starving at this point. You ended up hitting corners of furniture from trying to hurry your process up.
Knock knock, the door went. Your hair was a mess and you were only finished with half of your outfit. It was your banana pajama pants paired with some cute shirt you found. Along with one shoe on. You opened the door and you found Changbin just waiting there with coffee in his hand and a small breakfast bun he picked up along the way.
“Well…good morning.”
He scoffed and rolled his eyes when he saw you rushing with your frizzy hair and half done outfit but, he sat down comfortably on the chair and just talked to you about your schedule today. From the meeting, to the company tour, then the meeting of the groups, and then to the actual work that was to be started.
You didn’t hear most of it though since you were too busy panicking about how you were going to present yourself today. You just started babbling about your thoughts and Changbin just listened. He found it cute how you babbled when you were nervous and the bed head hair just made his day.
He handed you the coffee and the breakfast bun, telling you to hurry up and then threw the company employee pass at you as you both drove off for work.
Once you both reached the company, Changbin introduced you to everyone, but they all seemed way too busy to notice you fully. You didn’t mind though, you knew they were all busy with promotions and they needed to perfect everything they did.
Changbin gave you a tour of the company, and little by little, you found himself opening up to you. At first, he seemed like a snob, but when you got to know him, he was like a bubbly little kid that was always trying to play. He went from trying to act tough and in charge to skipping down the halls of JYP saying hi to everyone he knew.
Then after a long day of meeting most people and looking through all the rooms, it was time to start work officially. Changbin opened the door to a dainty size studio, just enough room to fit one. You thought he was going to leave you once he dropped you off, but he pulled up a chair and sat down real close to you.
“Aren’t you going to leave?”
He rested his chin on his hand and shook his head. He just told you he was curious with how you do your work. So, you started setting up your program, linking all the pads, and finding the right channels to use. You worked fast for someone who didn’t have much experience working professionally and Changbin was impressed with you.
You just did your thing while he sat and vibed on the side. You barely noticed him while working, but Changbin noticed every small detail about you. From the way you found the rhythm and beat you wanted just by tapping your foot and fingers furiously, to the way you smiled to yourself after finding the right tones.
He sat back and enjoyed how you worked and was thinking about if he should ask the boss if he could work with you on this track. And to his luck, he got the boss’ approval to work with you and was assigned to be your guide for your whole stay.
From there, Changbin would come pick you up every morning, drop you off every night, bring you food whenever you asked, or just randomly throughout the day. Every single day, he’d bring a surprise. Whether it was a small treat from the street food vendors, or a little toy he thought you’d like. Changbin was always handing it over with a smile, and after a week, he was already giving you hugs like you two had been friends forever.
On your days off, he would still be there for you even when he didn’t need to be. He’d send you a good morning text then ask you what your plans were for the day because he wanted to personally take you around the cities. Sometimes even bringing his group along, but then telling them to leave because they got too annoying.
Changbin took you to see the regular tourist spots and paid for everything, even though you told him no. The man wouldn’t let you pay at all. Even when he took you to his favorite shopping mall, everything you touched, Changbin would pay for it. Not even looking at the price. You got kind of mad at that, but he would always say “It’s okay, we’re friends. Let me treat you.”
That’s how your first 3 weeks in South Korea went. You were with Changbin for almost 24 hours a day, just working side by side, and him not leaving your side at all. The only time he’d leave was for rehearsal, but then he’d come straight back to you. All sweaty and tired, but he kept his bubbly self around you and talked to you like you’ve been close all your life.
He’d tease you non-stop, he’d hug you whenever he got the chance or even just place his head on your shoulder while he watched you work. Changbin was slowly attaching himself to you, slowly taking a liking to you, but he wouldn’t admit it just yet. He just kept it quiet and tried to see if his feelings were real and if you felt the same way.
At the studio, Changbin stared at his phone while you worked on the last track of the album. The occasional deep breaths and sighs showed your tiredness, and he knew it was about time for a break. He knew how badly deadlines could get to a producer’s head, so he wanted to take you to the one place he always found himself on times like this.
“Y/N?” He said behind your ear, slowly taking off your headphones making you turn your head to face him.
“What’s up?” You replied, but before you got an answer, Changbin heard nothing of your protests, grabbed your hand, turned off your computer, and dragged you out of the studio.
“Changbin!! What are you doing? I just started-
“And we’ll finish it tonight...Right now, you need a break, and I know just where to take you”
You simply rolled your eyes as a smirk grew on Changbin’s face. Of course he knew where to take you. At this point, it seemed like he knew everything about you.
As Changbin drove you to the spot, you watched the city lights light up and took photos again. You wanted to keep everything in memory knowing that this was only temporary. The city, the studio, Changbin. All of it would be over soon.
“Hey,” he said, grabbing your attention as his hand met yours. “Do you mind grabbing the bag from the back, we’re almost there”
Your eyebrows furrowed in curiosity of Changbin’s plans. Where was he taking you? The guy was full of surprises.
Outside, you heard the sounds of a peaceful river along with the sounds of jet skis rushing against the water. You turned your head to be welcomed by the calming sight of the Han River.
You weren’t able to take your eyes off the beautiful view and you just stood there in amazement while Changbin held your hand to lead you to the spot he was taking you to. You couldn’t help but admire the bright bridge that stretched out ahead of you leading to the beautiful city of Seoul.
The night sky was filled with the large moon and clouds that had planes flying through. It casted over the two of you and as the perfect weather chilled in, you and Changbin set a blanket to sit on.
“This is beautiful” You mentioned, making Changbin smile as he watched you cherish the moment. Again, he heard the clicks of your camera and just giggled at every picture you took.
“Changbin! 1 ,2, 3 Smile!”
He smiled as bright as he could and gave you multiple poses so you could remember him in every way. You probably took over 10 pictures of him and when you went to show him his pictures, Changbin scooted closer to you and threw an arm over your shoulder. He wasn’t looking at the pictures, he was only looking at you.
His heart raced just by sitting beside you and listening to you talk about something you were so passionate about. Everything you did now was just adorable in his eyes and he was hoping that this feeling would never stop.
“Changbin, aren’t these nice?”
Changbin heard nothing and kept looking over at you. He was finally admitting to himself that he was catching feelings for you. There was no view- even in a place like this- that could top the beauty that he saw in you.
When you noticed he hadn’t responded, you turned and waved your hands in front of him.
“Changbin? Helloooo” You giggled as his eyes grew wider. “Yeah, yeah let me grab the drinks” He coughed out, grabbing the bag from the car.
“Were you admiring the view?” You asked, propping yourself with your elbows as you laid back.
“Yeah, yeah totally” Changbin replied, though the only view he found himself admiring was you.
Handing you a drink, Changbin sat by you before asking “Are you still stressed about tomorrow? The evaluations?”
You sat up next to him before grabbing your drink and taking a sip. “A little, I mean everything’s still not finished and I only have tonight but I definitely needed some fresh air… thank you Changbin”
“It’s no big deal I mean really-”
“No Changbin, thank you for everything.” You interrupted, laying your head on his shoulder.
Changbin must be crazy. Could you hear the constant thumping of his heart or was that just him?
As you two finished the drinks, break time was over and the two of you made your way back to the studio. You were now filled with a sudden confidence and faith in the success of your album and Changbin was now a man that had a heart for you and only you now.
Once the two of you were back at the studio, it was time to work again. Changbin stayed on his phone ready to help while you buried yourself in the unfinished tracks.
Time passed by quickly as you got your tasks finished one by one, and the small snores heard from behind you made it evident that Changbin had fallen asleep, honestly you would’ve as well. Everyday, for the past few weeks, Changbin had stayed with you until he dropped you off at night, despite his busy schedule and you could never wrap your head around why.
With a click of your mouse, everything was finally saved on a flash drive. Your first album was completed… You did it.
You squealed in excitement. Jumping up from your seat and shaking Changbin’s shoulders to wake him up.
“Changbin! Changbin I finished it!” You exclaimed in excitement as Changbin got up.
“You finished it!” Changbin repeated after you, also jumping up and down with you. You pulled Changbin into your arms and held him close to show him how grateful you were for all his support.
“I seriously couldn’t have done this without you”
Changbin looked into your eyes full of joy. You seemed so happy in the moment and he was happy for you too, but then it was like his emotions took over his body. He couldn’t help but to smile, close his eyes, and lean in closer to you.
You just watched him as he closed his eyes and watched his lips only a few inches away from yours. In a panic, you whispered his name hoping to catch his attention but, he only leaned in closer and his lips slightly brushed against yours, but you stepped back in time.
“Um..” You let out, the tension in the room increasing as Changbin opened his eyes.
“Y/n I-”
“I have to go… prepare for tomorrow’s evaluation. I’ll see you tomorrow, get a good night’s sleep and all” You quickly said as you gathered your things and left the room.
Changbin didn’t plan on getting a good night’s sleep. In fact, he couldn’t sleep at all. He couldn’t believe that he just tried to kiss you and now he was tossing and turning in bed.
The sound of your alarm made you leap out of bed and head to your closet. Today was the day. It was time to show off your hard work. Your muscles tensed at the fact that you were finally presenting your work to a line of producers and managers.
After getting ready, you waited outside for Changbin. It seemed like the perfect day, as if nothing could go wrong. That was until Changbin showed up and you suddenly remembered last night.
He pulled up in front and when you sat down inside, you both could feel the awkward tension between you two and to try to relieve that tension, you said hey, but he said hey at the same time too. Only making the awkwardness visible between you two.
You looked at him hoping he would say something more but he never did and that’s how it went the entire drive. Just pure awkward silence.
Once the two of you arrived, you got out of the car, hoping he would come along, but he didn’t. “You’re not coming?” You asked.
“Nah, I’ll wait for you. Good luck” He said as he stopped the engine and started playing with his phone.
You said thanks and took a deep breath as you saw Changbin go back on his phone. This was the only time Changbin wasn’t going to be beside you when you were playing music and you didn’t know how to feel except nervous and uneasy.
As you walked into the room, you felt multiple pairs of eyes follow you to the stage. With a press of a button, your new album started playing and to your surprise, everyone seemed to enjoy it and you finally got a pass to release it. Your hard work paid off and you felt like a huge weight was lifted off your shoulder.
But with that pass, you knew that it was the end of your stay. In the contract, it stated that when you got your pass to release your music, it was time to go home. The only problem was that you didn’t know how to tell Changbin since the flight was already booked and your stuff had to be packed by tonight.
In a hurry, you ran to Changbin’s car, only to see that he had already fallen asleep, so you opened the door and woke him up.
“Hey! They said my music was good and-”
“Congrats!” Changbin said, already starting the car and getting ready to leave.
“Wait why are we in such a hurry?” You asked.
“I’m a little busy with promotions tomorrow so I have to practice tonight, is that okay?” He asked.
You were hoping the two of you could celebrate tonight, but if he was busy with promotions he probably didn’t care about you leaving tomorrow anyways.
“Yeah.. that’s fine” You said before getting an email about your ticket home.
“Alright, I promise to see you tomorrow, then we could celebrate. I knew you could do it, so tomorrow, just wait for me, okay?”
Changbin leaned over to give you a hug, not knowing that it was going to be the last one he would be able to give you for a while. He smiled and you two did your special handshake and then he drove off after dropping you off at the hotel.
You quickly went up and packed your things. Sort of wishing that your last night would’ve been spent with Changbin, but that was okay. You two spent so much time together during your stay, he almost forgot to go to rehearsals some days.
Even though he wasn’t here, you were still pretty happy about your music being released soon. You couldn't wait to go home and see your friends and family because you knew they’d be proud of you.
“Hey Mom,” You said on the phone. “Yeah! They said I can come back tomorrow… I can’t wait to see you too.. okay I’ll be safe.. bye”
The next day, Changbin had coffee and a roll in hand. He felt bad that he couldn’t be with you yesterday so he wanted to make up for it even though he was busy with practice today, but once he got in your usual studio, he noticed that all of your things were gone.
An employee passed by so Changbin decided to ask what happened and that’s when he found out. Your contract was done and you were already heading home and he could do nothing to stop you from leaving.
They mentioned that you were already at the airport, just waiting for your flight and when he heard that, his hands balled up in a fist and he felt his heart drop. He didn’t even get to celebrate with you let alone tell you about how he finally felt about you after these few weeks together.
Changbin quickly rushed through the hall to leave only to be stopped by his members. They were all getting ready to practice one more time so they could perfect everything, but he pushed them to the side because the only thing on his mind right now, was you.
“Yo Changbin where are you going?” The rest of the guys asked him.
“I have to go,” was all he said, nudging them aside.
“Hyung!” Felix called after him. It was no bother, Changbin was already out the door and nowhere to be seen.
He frantically grabbed his phone from his pocket, wanting to call you and tell you everything that he wanted to say before, but he noticed an airplane fly above him. Changbin still tried calling you and texting you, hoping you were still seated in the airport, but then he noticed he had one unread message left in his notifications.
Y/N: Bye Changbin. Thank you for everything, I’ll see you soon :)

So, this is something a little bit different.
I’m a big fan of the SCP Foundation wiki, and the crazy stories and entries on there, and I encourage anyone to check them out for fun.
A couple of years ago, I actually came up with an idea for my own SCP idea, and finally I sat down to write it up like an actual entry on the wiki. I’ve given it the nickname ‘True Fresh Air’. I consider this as a ‘fan SCP’; I think it would be fun if I did try to submit it, but I feel like it would be torn apart by the strict rules and guidelines, or it would be turned into an ‘Anomalous Item’ rather than a full fledged SCP. I’m also kinda worried that, if I did want to try and submit it as an actual entry, not only would it take months to make it reach standards, but I feel like it would end up getting morphed into something I wouldn’t be happy with.
So, for now, I will post it here just as a fun little thing to try.
For those who are familiar with the wiki and the lore behind it, please note that this is just a fun idea, and some of the material in here shouldn’t be considered as canon or anything.
Thank you!

Item #: SCP-████
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-████ is to be kept in a self-contained storage case in the emergency response supply room of Site-███. SCP-████ should remain there when not undergoing tests. Tests can be conducted by approval of personnel of clearance level 3 or higher and must be documented under the Experiment Log of SCP-████.
SCP-████ can be used in emergency and clean-up procedures during any emergency resulting in an unbreathable area due to smoke, fire, aerosol and gaseous dangers, or containment breech of SCP-████, ████, or ████.
Description: SCP-████ is a wall-mounted automatic air freshener dispenser that was manufactured by the Timemist company in 20██. It measures at 28"x6"x4" and made of standard white plastic. The area that would display the company logo is blank; study of the area shows minor abrasions where the logo has either worn off or has been purposefully removed. No other manufacturer or distributor information is present.
The interior of the SCP-████ has the same layout as a typical device of this type, however there are two unknown components installed: one in place of the battery compartment and one in place of the aerosol receptacle. The item in place of the battery compartment is slightly larger than a standard D-cell battery, and is made of a gray metallic material with no markings on it. The item in place of the aerosol compartment is a cylinder measuring at 4″ tall with a diameter of 2" and is made of the same metallic material as the power source. Both items are installed and adhered to the plastic by an unknown bonding agent that makes removal of the item difficult without damaging or destroying SCP-████ itself. Study of either of the components have not been successful as penetrating either has been deemed dangerous without more information.
The power source of SCP-████ has continued to power it since containment, and presumably has been running that way for ██ years. Its anomalous properties are not made known until it is is a room that contains unpleasant odors or particulates or substances in the air that are harmful to most living creatures and humans. When in said room, the device will begin to freshen the air within minutes, removing the odor despite it's strength or concentration and neutralizing any of the harmful materials. It is not currently known how SCP-████ is able to do so, since it does not appear to release a perfume substance or any known neutralizing agent that would affect odors or air quality.
SCP-████ was discovered in a restaurant in ████, Pennsylvania in 20██ when a fire had broken out and severely damaged the structure. When emergency responders arrived, all but four of the employees were accounted for and presumed lost in the fire, but were all found later in the Mens bathroom, having survived the incident. When taken for treatment for smoke inhalation and oxygen deprivation typical of building fires, all reported they were fine and showed no symptoms of either. Field Agent Byron was not made aware of anything anomalous until he overheard several firemen commenting on how the Mens restroom did not have the typical odors typical of the fire. Agent Byron later searched the area and discovered SCP-████.
SCP-████ was originally listed as Anomalous Item for a time, but was classified as an SCP after a chemical agent was released into the storage area of Site-██. The personnel working in the area at the time were assumed dead, but when clean up teams arrived, they had found the personnel alive and well, and no residual evidence of the chemical agent was detected. When interviewed, the personnel admitted to having no idea that they were in any danger. Testing confirmed the anomalous nature of SCP-████ and it was reclassified as an SCP.
Addendum ████-1: When testing the air quality and purity after SCP-████ was used, Researcher ████ commented that the air 'reminded him of his time in the Netherlands', noting that the air was fresh and had a smell that reminded him of the region. Research teams were sent to ████████, Netherlands to perform tests there and discovered that the air quality and purity were nearly identical to SCP-████ tests. It is theorized that this area could be the original source for the substance inside the unknown canister inside SCP-████.
Addendum ████-2: Interview with restaurant owner Mr. ████ Daniels, former owner of the restaurant.
An interview was conducted with Mr. ████ Daniels several weeks after the fire, in order to discover the place of origin for SCP-████.
Interviewer: Doctor P████ Interviewee: ████ Daniels Date: ██/██/20██
Note: Doctor P████ is under the guise of an investigator from Mr. Daniels' insurance company.
Doctor: Thank you for your time Mr. Daniels, this shouldn't take too long, we just wanted some additional information for your claim.
Daniels: Of course.
Doctor: There are a few minor details that we wanted to clear up for our adjustments; cleaning supplies and materials that were used in your establishment.
Daniels: Honestly there isn't much to say there. I didn't keep a record of that stuff until I needed to buy new stuff.
Doctor: That would include the air fresheners in your establishment as well?
Daniels: Yeah, I suppose so.
Doctor: When did you first purchase them and when were they replaced?
Daniels: *is quiet for a moment* To be honest, it was various times. The only one I can say with any certainty was the one in the Womens restroom. We had a troublemaker in the store a few months ago, around ████ or so, the thing was so damaged that I couldn't salvage it. *falls quiet again*
Doctor: Is something wrong Mr. Daniels?
Daniels: Nothing wrong, just a weird thought occur to me. In all of my time working at the restaurant, I actually don't remember replacing the batteries or the fragrances in some of them.
Doctor: You never replaced them?
Daniels: Well...-I- haven't, but the other employees must have done so. Just kind of a weird thought.
Doctor: When did you first buy your air fresheners and do you remember the company you bought them from?
Daniels: Well, the replacements I just picked up from ████ or ████ off the internet. I don't know about anything that was in there before I bought the place.
Doctor: So you're not the original owner?
Daniels: Oh no, I bought the place from an older couple in town, the Robellos. They had that place for years since then, ran it when I was a teen. If they kept any records, I never got them.
Doctor: I see. Well that should be everything, thank you for your time, Mr. Daniels.
Daniels: Of course. *laughs* Kinda strange to be asking about a couple of air fresheners, but I guess you guys don't skip the little details.
Doctor: No sir, that we don't.
When researching the Robello family, it was discovered that the oldest members, Mr. Trey Robello and Mrs. Carla Robello, had passed away in 20██. Their next of kin had not worked or taken part in the business, so no interviews were deemed necessary.
Note: "The interview has revealed that there was at least one more of these in existence. However, it is also revealed that SCP-████ is not indestructible. If the other item was destroyed by a random vandal, then any experiments we conduct run the risk of damaging or destroying it. -Doctor P████
Addendum ████-3: Experiment Log of SCP-████
The following experiments were conducted with SCP-████ to determine the strength, range and duration of its effects. The test was conducted by Doctor D████ with Researcher N████, who is described as having a 'sensitive nose' and for picking up on unpleasant odors.
Experiment ████-1 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: 1 cigarette Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked to smoke one cigarette with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing in 2 minutes and 35 seconds. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the linger smell cause by the cigarette. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After two minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed to be disappearing, but she could not tell if it was due to SCP-████. -After five minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: A simple test to start with, but still somewhat inconclusive, we will need to increase the amount for a noticeable effect.
Experiment ████-2 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: 5 cigarette Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked to smoke the five cigarettes with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 12 minutes. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the smell, noting it was stronger than the previous test. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After two minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed was disappearing rapidly. She also remarked that this was unlikely due to natural dissipation -After five minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: A stronger concentration, yet the effects seem to happen in the same time frame.
Experiment ████-3 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: A pack of cigarettes, containing 20 cigarettes Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked to smoke the entire pack with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 32 minutes. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the smell, noting that it was 'overpowering'. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After two minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed was disappearing rapidly. She also expressed disbelief. -After five minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Note: Again, this test showed that SCP-████ has worked consistently in the same amount of time as the previous tests, regardless of the saturation.
Experiment ████-4 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: A pack of cigarettes, containing 20 cigarettes Time Limit: 10 minutes.
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked to smoke the entire pack within 10 minutes. D-class did so, though expressing discomfort during. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the smell, similar to Experiment ████-3. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After two minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed was disappearing rapidly. -After five minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: We wanted to see how SCP-████ would function while the smoke was still lingering and relatively fresh. Same results as the previous tests, confirming a reliable timeframe for SCP-████'s anomalous effects to begin.
Experiment ████-5 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: A pack of cigarettes, containing 20 cigarettes Time Limit: None, 30 minutes.
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked to smoke the entire pack with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 36 minutes. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber. The chamber then remained vacant for 30 minutes. -Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the smell, noting that it was not as strong as previous experiments, but had a 'staleness' to it. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After two minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed was disappearing rapidly. -After five minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was better, but lingered. -After eight minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: It seems that if an area is left to 'soak', then SCP-████'s effects do take a little longer to take place. This is good to note for when we change to more dangerous substances.
Experiment ████-6 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin in a larger space. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-B, measuring 5m squared. Test: A pack of cigarettes, containing 20 cigarettes Time Limit: None, 30 minutes.
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-B and was asked to smoke the entire pack with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 34 minutes. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -Upon entering, Researcher commented on the smell, noting that it was not as strong due to the larger size. -Researcher was asked to stay inside and SCP-████ was placed in the room. -After three minutes, Researcher N████ commented that the smell seemed was disappearing rapidly. -After six minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was better, but lingered. -After ten minutes, Researcher commented that the smell was completely gone. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: As expected, it does take longer for SCP-████'s effects to take place in a larger space. Since a normal air freshener is meant for certain sized rooms, this makes sense.
Experiment ████-7 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin while in an affected room. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-C, measuring 4 x 5 m Test: 1 cigarette. Time Limit: None
-Two D-class (Designated D-████-1 and D-████-2) were brought into Test Chamber ████-C and sat a single table. SCP-████ was placed in between them. - D-████-1 was asked to smoke the cigarette with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 4 minutes. -D-████-2 was asked to comment on the smell. D-████-2 commented that there was a smell, but it didn't stay long, disappearing after a few seconds. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -When asked about the odor, Researcher commented that she could not detect any smell at all. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: SCP-████ seems to be constantly working, so whenever an unpleasant smell is put in, it almost immediately neutralizes it.
Experiment ████-8 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin while in an affected room. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-C, measuring 4 x 5 m Test: A pack of cigarettes, containing 20 cigarettes Time Limit: None
-Two D-class (Designated D-████-1 and D-████-2) were brought into Test Chamber ████-C and sat a table on opposite ends of the room. SCP-████ was placed in between them. - D-████-1 was asked to smoke the cigarettes with no time limit. D-class did so, finishing after 40 minutes. -D-████-2 was asked to comment on the smell. D-████-2 commented that they were only able to get a smell occasionally, otherwise it was relatively clean. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -When asked about the odor, Researcher commented that she could not detect any smell at all. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: Same results as the last test, though it seems like there is a greater effect depending on distance of subjects. Nothing too unexpected.
Experiment ████-9 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin while in a room with a potentially dangerous substance. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: Natural wood smoke. Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked take a seat and stand-by. -A standard fire was built using natural wood and the smoke was pumped into the room via a built in fan vent. -SCP-████ was placed on the opposite end of the room. - Three minutes after the test began, D-class mentioned the smell of a fireplace or campfire, but it had gone away after five minutes. -Smoke continued to be pumped into the room for fifteen more minutes. D-class showed no signs of being affected by the smoke. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and Researcher N████ was asked to enter. -When asked about the odor, Researcher commented that she could not detect any smell at all. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber and Researcher left.
Notes: The results of this test are similar to the descriptions of SCP-████'s initial and secondary discoveries, because it's constantly working, any harmful substance in the room is neutralized almost immediately. From this point on, we won't be asking N████ to enter the room after the tests.
Experiment ████-10 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin while in a room with a potentially dangerous substance. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: Carbon Monoxide Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked take a seat and stand-by. -A combustion engine was activated and the exhaust was pumped into the room via a built in fan vent. -SCP-████ was placed on the opposite end of the room. -Two minutes after the test began, D-class mentioned the smell of exhaust, but it had gone away after five minutes. -Engine exhaust continued to be pumped into the room for fifteen more minutes. D-class showed no signs of being affected. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber.
Notes: Similar results as the last test. I'm kinda glad, I really didn't want to see someone suffocating like that. D-class or not.
Experiment ████-11 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin while in a room with a potentially dangerous substance. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: Cyanide Gas Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A and was asked take a seat and stand-by. -A canister of cyanide installed and was pumped into the room via a built in fan vent. -SCP-████ was placed on the opposite end of the room. -Two minutes after the test began, D-class mentioned feeling strange, but it had gone away after five minutes. -Cyanide continued to be pumped into the room for fifteen more minutes. D-class showed no signs of being affected. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber.
Notes: Now I'm really glad it works. I know they’re D-class, but...damn.
Experiment ████-12 Parameters: Testing the speed of which SCP-████ anomalous effects begin when placed in a room already filled with a potentially dangerous substance. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: Cyanide Gas Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A while wearing a standard gas mask and was asked take a seat and stand-by. -A canister of cyanide installed and was pumped into the room via a built in fan vent. -After five minutes, D-Class was told to remove the mask. D-Class complied, but started to feel the effects of the gas. They attempted to put the mask back on, but was stopped on threat of termination. -After two more minutes, D-Class starts to show signs of cyanide poisoning. -SCP-████ is placed in the room via a trap door. -D-class starts to show further effects and crawls towards the door and SCP-████. -After five minutes, D-class seems to calm down, coughing a lot. -Cyanide continued to be pumped into the room for fifteen more minutes. D-class shows no other signs of being affected. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and taken to medical. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber.
Notes: Damn...that was rough. But, yes, SCP-████ does actually neutralize poisonous gases as well as odors.
Experiment ████-13 Parameters: Testing the speed and effect of SCP-████ against other anomalous substances. Subject: SCP-████ Location: Test Chamber ████-A, measuring 4m squared. Test: [REDACTED] of gas from SCP-████ (Designated as SCP-████-1). Time Limit: None
-D-class was brought into Test Chamber ████-A was asked take a seat and stand-by. -A canister containing SCP-████-1 was installed and was pumped into the room via a built in fan vent. -Gas was pumped in until D-class showed beginning symptoms of Stage One exposure. -SCP-████ is placed in the room via a trap door. -D-class continues to show signs of Stage One symptoms. -After five minutes, symptoms do not escalate. -After ten minutes, D-Class shows signs of symptoms fading to safe levels. -SCP-████-1 is pumped into the room again for five minutes. Symptoms do not return. -D-class is left in the room for another five minutes before SCP-████-1 neutralizing agent is introduced. -D-class was escorted out of the chamber and taken to medical. -SCP-████ was removed from testing chamber.
Notes: It actually worked! SCP-████ had neutralized another SCP anomaly! I am both amazed and relieved by those results. As exciting this discovery is though, we have to keep in mind that we don't know if SCP-████ can neutralize other SCP effects. We tested strictly gaseous materials, so we don't know if would affect any others, like those that are spore based.
While we will need to do further testing of SCP-████'s limits, I do want to formally recommend that we keep SCP-████ as a part of our emergency response materials. With the potentials dangers we face, I think it would be nice to have something working in our favor. -Doctor D████
