Man I hate scams and bots. I know all I can do is block, delete, and/or report, but I have to admit sometimes they’re so painfully obvious it’s funny.

Like I had an ask show up in my inbox once that was just the generic “please click this link and donate to this cause to save my [insert relation here]!” that has random and inconsistent bolding and emphasizing of words, to the point where it’s also bolding half of a word. Another thing too is that these usually try to appeal to a specific type of person. The one I’ve mentioned literally started off by saying “Hi Lesbians” exactly like that. Like what part of my blog makes you think I’m a lesbian and that I won’t immediately clock this as a scam??

It caught me so off guard that I couldn’t help but laugh at this frankly idiotic attempt at scamming me out of some money. I mean, in all fairness, these kinds of things are being spammed literally everywhere so there’s all sorts of people getting these so it makes sense to have a general greeting. But lesbians is just so specific and I just wasn’t expecting to be greeted like that at all, much less in a scam attempt.

I got a good laugh out of it all and that’s the most value that scammer ever had. But I can’t believe scammers get people to fall for this crap. Please stay safe out there folks and don’t let people take you for ANY of your information or money. Like I said at the beginning: block, report, and/or delete. Have a great end of the year

i’ve been scratching my head over the whole watcher situation. I’m not a fan myself but got dragged into it cus of the people I follow, i only watched their puppet history series and the buzzfeed unsolved series from way back- honestly, i couldn’t care less if they locked all their stuff behind a paywall. I’m so neutral on this whole thing, i might as well be swiss.

but i’m not neutral? In fact, the whole thing really bothers me and i couldn’t figure out why.

cus i get it, yanno. As a company that thrives on creativity, i understand you’d wanna cut yourself off the mega-capatalist-giant that is youtube to get rid of annoying restrictions, and asking monetary support from your audience so you can really stretch the limit of your creativity. I GET IT.

And it STILL bothers me!

And then I figured it out:

the whole “any future videos they’ll be making will EXCLUSIVELY be available through a streaming service you have to pay a monthly subscription for” comes less across as “please support us monetarily so we can grow as creators”, and comes more across as “if you want to continue being a fan, or even being a part of the audience, you’re gonna have to pay up. You have no choice in the matter. It’s either pay, or you’re not a ‘real’ fan or a ‘real’ part of our audience.”

THAT’S what’s bothering me about it. It feels like they’re gatekeeping who gets to be part of their community with money (that not everyone might have). And knowing where they come from and how they started…. That’s… extremely tone deaf. To put it gently.

Yes. We’ve been together 8 years.

I was really struggling to finish college not because I was dumb but because I had a lot going on in my family at the time. My grandfather died and my family was literally crumbling before my eyes. All the lies, manipulation, gaslighting had finally caught up to my mom and grandma. Going to Ohio and coming back really broke me.

Donald pushed me to finish and I literally mean pushed. I called him one day after meeting with my advisor and told him I was done. I wasn’t doing college anymore.

He drove across town meet with my advisor with me, got that settled, paid my tuition on the spot. Education is very important to him which is why he pushing me to get my Masters.

Two weeks later we sat down and told me when I finished he could promise two things, he’ll pay my rent and money.

I’m always money motivated. So I finished. Took two more years but I did.

He always paid my rent. And he gave me 10k the week I graduated. He also put me in his will. If and when he pass I get a percentage of his liquid cash.

Has he kept his word? Idk I only saw the paperwork after it was done and his lawyer and a notary had signed it. It could have been changed for all I know. But for the most part I trust him and his word. He has never lied or try to play with me.

And I also think it’s important to know it’s liquid cash. That doesn’t count investments, home, cars, ect. Whatever money is currently sitting in accounts I get a part of that. If his kids choose to sell his houses I don’t get a part of that. I don’t get a part of his military pension either.

So me being the business minded woman I am, put the 10k up. I never touched it. half went into a high yield savings account and the other went into a CD account.

I can touch the savings if I want to. The CD can’t be touched without penalty. But I don’t have a need to touch either. Donald pays rent and gives me money all the time. Ted pays “rent” he doesn’t but he think he does but I use that for utilities and groceries.

I also have a very good job on my own. 75% of my paycheck doesn’t touch my account it goes straight to my retirement which is matched by my company.

Quick Sims Ramble

I know I don’t post sims stuff on my blog (plan to in the future), but I’ve a simmer since 2017 and I’ve got thoughts.

I still remember some cc creators throwing tantrums bc EA threatened to uphold their 2-3 week (14-21 day) rule for paywalls—and proceeded to do absolutely nothing. Many of those posts from back then are still up btw, you can easily see what your favs think of you and how some of them see you as a walking wallet.

Speaking of cc creators and modders crying over money, Curseforge, why do you continue to use it? It’s been months now since that tweet of Overwolf (CF’s owner) explicitly stating they’re donating to the IDF, so I’m gonna assume most of you have had sufficient time to read about it and understand why it’s an issue. Of course, grace is to be afforded to those who are late to the party, but I think it’s crazy to know what they’re doing and willingly continue to support. It’s got to be the money.

The website ugly and janky as hell, too, so it’s GOT to be the money. 😭

And if money is the problem, doing Early Access via Patreon is always an option. Ko-Fi’s an option. Gumroad’s an option. You got options that actually look good, raise your standards, I beg. And there’s free alternatives such as Google Drive, Mega, OneDrive, SimsFileShare; there’s simmers on this platform right now who are willing to give you a SFS code for free. And what about NexusMods? I’ve seen people post their cc and mods there.

Point is, you got options. So, why are you all acting like deleting your content off one gutterbutt platform is gonna bring the end of the world? All you have to do is release it for free after 14-21 days, and if you do so consistently, people will willingly donate money to support you—because you’ll be showing yourself as a reliable content creator who makes good content they like. You can get your money. CF is not the end all, be all of modding platforms.

So, please stop throwing tantrums and giving fifty-leven reasons why you can’t migrate off one platform.
