I'm so excited to share this little snippet of my upcoming T'hyla Reverse Bang fic, based on beautiful art by @luminaenebula

All thoughts are derailed when Jim bites into the small red fruit, tearing it in half with his teeth. He sucks at it lightly, tongue scooping into the center before he reaches up to remove the pit from between his teeth. Juice clings to his fingers, his lips. Spock stands abruptly, glad the looseness of his robes hides his body’s reaction to that spectacle. He must leave. He can’t watch this for a single second more.

“I never thanked you,” Jim says, breaking their long period of companionable silence. “For saving me earlier.” I could not stand the way she touched you, he thinks. “Maybe we could make a habit of it,” Jim continues before Spock can respond. “Some kind of signal and you can come ask me to help you with paperwork that you could easily do yourself in half an hour.”

"What's she like?" Ahria asks. She finally looks at him, the light of the moon reflecting off her eyes. "Elafa, I mean."

"Well," Edér starts. "We used to, uh. Get together, every so often. Told you as much already. She was covered in freckles. Red hair, brown eyes, about yea high," he holds up a hand around his chest, "but with the temper of a giant. And, uh, real punch-happy." He rubs the side of his arm absently, remembering some of her more spirited hits.

"She had a Hollowborn baby, last I saw her," he says. "Helped'em escape to New Heomar. And now it turns out she's in the Deadfire, same as us."

Ahria hums in acknowledgment, watching him intently. "You miss her?"

"Sometimes," he admits. "Sometimes I think I might just miss the times before the war. Before the Purges, even." He huffs a laugh. "I thought things were bad then. Never imagined I'd have to worry about my god rippin' the souls right out of kith and maybe endin' the world."

Ahria exhales. "Me neither," she says, and Edér grins humorlessly.

"'Least we got you to save it."

I'm Ahria, long time fandom lover and crafter. I've been reading and writing fanfiction since about 1999. It's always been there for me through thick and thin!

I started crocheting in high school and that love of fiber arts has expanded into spinning my own yarn and weaving on a rigid heddle loom.

As for jewelry, I've loved that since I was a little girl. Making it was almost an accident. I thought it would be interesting to try making a crushed opal ring since my husband had all the tools, and then I just kept making them. Earrings and necklaces came next because I was already making rings!

When deciding to open a business, it seemed natural to pair the things I make with my life long love of fandom. As a military spouse and stay at home mom, it means the world to me to be able to share my passions and help support my family. Thank you for stopping by!

I got this notification overnight and thought it was a fever dream. 😂 Orbit was the first longfic I wrote after an extended hiatus from fandom and writing in general, so it has a very special place in my heart. When I came up with the premise, I remember saying to my beta that it was a silly little thing I was writing for myself but could not imagine it would hold much interest for other people. I am so happy that people can still enjoy it a decade later. tysm for putting a smile on my face today!

This is a lovely AOS fic by the excellent @museaway. After their battle with the Narada the Enterprise crew are back on Earth and Jim takes off to his farmhouse in Iowa to escape the media frenzy. After a bit of miscommunication he finds Spock on his doorstep with a bag and reluctantly inherits a house guest. This is a lovely, gentle fic where they get to know each other better in the aftermath of shared trauma.

Stunned to find I’ve written this much at gen rating? Probably because I seem to have spent the last year or so focusing on explicit. Also not sure how I have 13 Neil and only 10 Andreil. Thank you @lenky-lenikova for the tag! I'm very belated, but this is normal for me!

1) Are you named after anyone? No, but I was named so that my nuclear family would all have the same three initials. Even my elder brother, who is a half-brother, follows this pattern.

2) When was the last time you cried? Bestie of my heart and only family lives in Israel. No need to elaborate, I assume.

3) Do you have kids? No, I live a happily kid-free life by design! Never, ever, wanted kids of my own, although I very much enjoy those belonging to others.

4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? I plead the fifth here. Although calling it 'sass' makes it sound more charming.

5) What's the first thing you notice about people? Scent, if noticeable. Otherwise, if their faces change when they smile. It's a weird thing with me.

6) What's your eye color? Greenish-brownish-hazelish?

7) Scary movie or happy ending? Happy ending! Although much fun can be had watching scary movies in sarcastic groups.

8) Any special talents? Kind of a Jane-of-all-trades here. I can drive anything that rolls and am very proud of my embroidery skills, and many bizarre skills in between.

9) Where were you born? Solidly in the Bible belt. Deep Southeastern USA.

10) What are your hobbies? Writing, when I can. Reading, embroidery, horseback riding when I can. Travel, travel. Travel.

11) Have you got pets? I have been the crazy animal lady in my time, but right now it is just me and a rescue cat cohabiting here.

Are you named after anyone? Nope! My name is a word and the word is the point. Conveniently gender-neutral and great for puns!

When was the last time you cried? Last month. I know my mom loves me but I thought for a second, what if she didn't actually like me, and started crying.

Do you have kids? No, but I definitely want to.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? When someone else is sarcastic first, as banter. Otherwise, not a lot.

What's the first thing you notice about people? Tone of their greeting, so I know if they're in a chatty mood; unexpected clothing.

What's your eye colour? Darkish brown.

Scary movie or happy ending? Happy ending. But scary movies are fine too; it's just unnecessary tragedies that stick with me unhealthily long.

Any special talents? I can wiggle my ears and also solve a Rubik's cube.

Where were you born? California, USA. Also where I am now, but I wasn't for 19 years in the middle.

What are your hobbies? Reading, especially sci-fi; knitting; watching sci-fi; logic/math puzzles.

Have you got pets? Tragically no but one day I will be the cat lady of my dreams.

woah you're writing a book? thats so cool!! if ur comfortable, whats it about? what are the characters like? im curious

‘if i’m comfortable’ dude i could talk about my book forever, i’m just gonna give you some dot points tho bc otherwise this’ll get too long

it’s called ‘Nobodies Hero’ and that’s because the story is written from the perspective of a side character who never wanted to be dragged on some quest

the basic gist of the plot: a rag-tag group of queer young-adults embark on a quest to stop the awakening of a dragon who’s been encased in lava for the past thousand years. ft gentle romance, trauma, and a severe lack of cishet people.

The Main Characters

Keika: he’s very... standoff-ish and snarky at first and even as you get to know him he mostly communicates through sarcasm and eye rolls. this is mostly bc he’s really bad at social interactions bc he kept to himself a lot as a kid (he was angry and hurting) and also because he struggles with being vulnerable around anyone other than his sister. he slowly comes out of his shell and becomes more emotionally developed as the story progresses. as he gets closer to his quest-mates, you begin to see that Keika’s very loyal and will do almost anything if it will benefit himself or his loved ones. he’s also a librarian and he’s v booksmart.

Ahuru: she’s pretty much the opposite of her brother, all bright smiles and easy attitude. she’s always willing to help people, sometimes at the risk of putting herself in danger (mentally or physically), this is mostly because she thinks that she needs to make everyone happy all the time so that they’ll keep her around. she inherited the town apothecary from her previous mentor and is now known as the best healer in their town (and their neighbouring town). she’s not actually in the story too much bc she stays in their home town but Keika talks about her a lot throughout their journey.

Cecily: she is a sorcerer who specialises in earth and plant based magic. she’s incredibly protective of the people she cares about and will always stand up for anyone who needs it. she can be really nosy because she wants to make sure everyone’s okay, but she knows where to draw the line and is mostly just a shoulder to cry on when needed. she’s also very outwardly affectionate, and mostly shows her love through gift giving (she makes her wife flower crowns that never die) or spending time together. when Atlas first meets her, she’s a street performer in the outskirts of the royal city as well as a postal worker. she’s got two older brothers (a seamster and a trans blacksmith) who helped raise her after their parents died of illness.

Ahria (my beloved): the warrior/weapon user/fighter of the group!! she was training to be a knight until she decided she didn’t really want to work for the government or anything like that bc they’ve got so many stupid rules that don’t really help anyone, so she dropped out in her late teens and started working as an apprentice blacksmith. she’s proficient in a lot of weapons because of this and she can f i x  t h e m. she’s very protective of people who can’t fend for themselves and has a zero-tolerance-policy for abusers (if she sees you raise a hand to anyone she’ll cut it off.) like Keika she seems a bit standoff-ish at first, but that because she’s suspicious of strangers. once she’s decided that you’re not a threat she begins to act a bit like a parent, constantly making sure you’re looking after yourself and staying out of trouble. she’s slow to trust but once she does she’d lay her life down for you and if you betray that trust... aaa. she’s also very tall and buff and has a big sword and she always wears a flower crown bc her wife makes them and she loves them and im in love with her.

Atlas: the resident sunshiney optimist and the leader of the group (aka the actual hero of the story.) he’s quick to make others feel safe and welcome in his company and his first response to a situation is to be kind. most people see this as naivety and weakness; but it’s mostly your fault if you end up with a fist to the face if you attempt to take advantage of his kindness. Atlas is not a soft person, he is just a nice one. his older sister is his hero and she always taught him about how mean people are often just hurting, and that sometimes offering a hand up is the quickest way to prevent them from kicking your legs out from underneath you. but she also always taught him to get up and hit back. he’s also a sorcerer like Cecily, but he kinda dabbles in all different kinds of magic so he’s kind of a jack-of-all-trades type. Atlas is still kinda murky for me because i’ve only recently begun to properly flesh out his character and his design but i’ve got some of the basics down (:

as a quick note: Keika, Ahuru and Ahria are based off of the maori people, Cecily is a black woman and Atlas is a mixed race man with vitiligo 

genuinely thank you so much for asking about this because,,, i love them and the story so much, i’ve been working on this for actual years (the story first came to life in 2016 and has gone through several dramatic make-overs since then) and Keika is actually my oldest OC!! and idk i just love talking about them and bringing their story to life as much as i can seeing as i still haven’t actually written it.

Set six months after the end of the series, Lan Wangji sets out to find Wei Wuxian and confess his feelings. This plan is complicated by his and Wei Wuxian's inability to communicate as well as the appearance of a mysterious stranger who sends them on a quest. Secrets from the past claw their way into the present, leaving Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian to finally confront all the unsaid things between them.

Or, a prayer to a certain God/Ghost King couple leads Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji into a whole slew of Situations. Unfortunately, they don't know they're in a rom-com so they picked melodrama instead.

"There's that smile I love so much," Edér says, brushing a rough thumb across her cheek. He kisses her before he straightens, hefting his sabre and shield. "C'mon, Watcher. Can't keep Eothas waiting."

Even as he beckons to her, smiling, Ahria can hear the bitterness in his tone at the very mention of Eothas, and her heart hurts for him.

All of a sudden, she's transported to the first time she saw him—standing, alone, under that awful tree hung with corpses, Eothasian cape on his back like a huge target. Like he was waiting to die.

Ahria grabs Edér's hand, now, and squeezes.

And Edér holds her hand, and squeezes back.

kinda an intense question but for new and old followers would you give a basic rundown of What Nobodies Hero Is? id love to have smthn to reblog bc im terrible at describing things myself i just start going ‼️‼️‼️ NOBODIES HERO ‼️‼️‼️

this was harder than it had any right to be and idek if this is any good but it's what i've got. bon appetite.

anyway Nobodies Hero is a fantasy series i've been working on for years, centered around a quest for a dragon and the clusterfuck of destinies-gone-wrong.

the story begins when the quest is already in full swing, when an adventuring party (Atlas, a noble who spent his life seeking adventure; Cecily, his partner in crime + Ahria, a sword-master and faithful wife) arrive in a town that shouldn't exist. (arlet, the only civilisation at the end of the world, my beloved)

we're introduced through the eyes of the towns librarian, an acerbic man with a complicated past (Keika) who the party hires to act as their guide. after he's only slightly guilted into it.

they need an impossible man from an impossible town to get them to an impossible destination. The Mahina Woods are an ancient and terribly magic stretch of woodland staining the bottom of every map of the continent; it's a place no one has ever returned from. It's also the only place that might have anything to say about dragons-- a creature long extinct.

Keika's job is to get them in and out of the woods without any of them dying. He succeeds! That is where his story is supposed to end.

Unfortunately (for more than just him), it is only the beginning; and he finds himself dragged through all manner of ordeals and trials as he struggles to keep up with his new companions while battling his own grief and increasing loss-of-self. (and dealing with falling in love for the first time. loser.)

Nobodies Hero explores a lot of things regarding identity and stories with fixed endings; but my favourite thing about this series is the way it plays with it's own story <3 there are two paths: what was supposed to happen (as written in the stars), and what ends up happening because of one little change to the narrative (the story that i am writing).

NH looks at a story with a fixed ending and decides to see what happens when you switch the unimportant bits around. What if the sister dies instead of the brother? A lamb reared for slaughter is left to wander loose, a scholar is handed a sword too heavy for his hands, an adventurer locks himself behind a desk, a friend becomes a traitor.

The story, unchanging, says that a sibling, a dragon, and a king will die. These are facts no matter what else changes. but I love how everything else has to twist itself into knots to make it happen. (the mordred and ahuru connection still makes me insane)

The world of NH is set within an unnamed continent split into 4 countries: Omos, in the north; Miednic, in the west; Nevmones, in the south; and Kauae in the east. Each has their own histories and relationships with one another, their own customs and cultural norms (poppies as a symbol of death in nevmones you will always be famous) BUT i couldn't fit all of it into the main parts of the story which is why i also created the side quests!! aka: stories that let me play with my world-building without impacting the main series <3

(i don't count the splintering as a side quest seeing as it has A Significant Impact On The Main Series, Actually.)

anyway yeah it has spooky dragon myths and a two-faced ruler, there's a queen who's rumoured to eat babies to remain eternally youthful, love curse shenanigans, found family, magic, humour and romance. like all my writing it explores every kind of love there is: family, friends, romance, the love you hold for your favourite type of bread, for your pets, for your favourite seasons or the way sunlight dances over the scales of a fish.

it seems dramatic, and at times the story is pretty heavy, especially the deeper you get into it but there is always always warmth and kindness and moments that offer a soft landing. a place to rest. i love these characters and this world too much to deny them that.

OH ALSO the gods aren't separate from their domains (eg. the goddess of mountains is quite literally the mountains), magic is called stardust bc it comes from Vietua (the night sky) and magic-wielders are called casters (atlas, cecily + keika are all casters) the terms for shapeshifters (werewolves, selkies etc) and halflings (harpies, centaurs etc) can depend on where you are on the continent, same thing with the undead; other magical creatures that dont fit in those categories are usually called tani or just referred to specifically (RUAHOI MY BELOVEDS)
