She quickly pushed herself off and stumbled into a blasted-out hole in the rock. Bow Kid ricocheted away from the wall to escape to another safe spot on the opposite side of the deep path. The two stood almost level to one another.

A click echoed across the space. A wave of sharp, narrow shapes hurled their way before Hat Kid could lift the mining helmet to check the noise.  Both of the girls activated their time stop hats in a flurry of panic, their surroundings growing even darker as their bodies became shrouded in a misty, black energy."

Act Four of The Sand n' Sails Resort ends on FFN and Ao3!! In the next chapter, we'll be taking a short interlude before we jump to Act Five!!

Do you have any headcanons about the nomads?

Oof, that might be a little hard. Since they’re only background characters, I don’t think this will be a long HC post. Sorry in advance!

They originally came from Sand N’ Sails! Both in the game, and in my headcanon! (If you’re confused, Sand N’ Sails was a cut area from AHIT that eventually became Alpine Skylines) But some of them got sick of all the sand and heat, and decided to move to the much cooler mountains!

Because they all live in the mountains, I’d like to think they like to go zip-lining a lot! Not only to get from place to place, but also as sport races! Which is why you can use the zip-lines to get from place to place in the game.

Unlike everyone else, the nomads consider Hat Kid as a town hero! They paint murals, carved statues, and throw a special celebration in her honor!

The nomads also have amazing green thumbs, which is why the Alpines is such a lush and flowery area. (In some parts, that is) They like to garden a lot and grow organic resources for food! But since they have to go out of town for food, maybe that how the whole “corrupted flowers” happened…

Elaborating on that, perhaps a nomad ventured too far into Subcon Forest? They probably brought back the flower, thinking it looked pretty and/or could be a useful herb, an accidentally planted an invasive species? And since it’s from good ol’ Subcon, that’s why it had a negative reaction on the Goats and cause them to go feral!

They’re cousins with the Sunburnts! (Another cut character from Sand N’ Sails) Although the Sunburnts are much more mischievous than their much nicer cousins, the nomads. Strange that some of them seemed to disappear though…

Oddly enough, the nomads aren’t that scared of Snatcher? They just act nice to him, since they’re kinda used to seeing ghost around the Twilight Bell. Now Moonjumper on the other hand? They’re terrified of him. They’ll say he gives off an “evil aura” and that they don’t want to be near him. It takes awhile for Hat Kid to calm them down around Moon, but they’re still very wary of him...

They love winter! It’s the perfect kind of weather for them! With hand-made quilts, hot cocoa, snow-mad building, snowball fights, and delicious soups and warm food? Who could ask for more! (They also get winter more early, and have winter festivities before and during the season!)

Haunted Hats AHIT AU, Character Swaps (and maybe bios once I finish them)

HAUNTED HATS (AHIT AU) 

Haunted Hats is an AU where the four kids (Hat Kid, Bow Kid, Mustache Girl, and Timmy) each take the role of Snatcher as rulers of Subcon Forest. This AU shows the swaps, changes, and new characters that would appear in the coming of this major shift! It's meant to experiment with fun swaps and including cut characters and locations, usually swapping them as well!

time to do some world building

Around 200 years ago when people didn’t know the dangers of messing with things they don’t understand, a group of birds of all different races formed a cult with the belief of immortality through the power of the phoenix, a bird of fire that can never truly die. They spent many months attempting to summon the deity and when they finally figured it out and summoned the legendary bird of fire they were cursed for attempting to break the rules of nature.

The curse effectively turned turned these birds and their offspring into half phoenix’, making it so these birds could never naturally die (i.e. old age) but they wouldn’t stay young, they would continue to grow older and older. Eventually getting to a point where they would be unable to move because of how old their bodies were. “well then why don’t they just off themselves when they become too old?” I hear you say. Well, to ensure that these birds suffered for their crimes against nature, their survival instincts were raised significantly to the point where the smallest scratch from someone could send them into fighting frenzy. it also ensured that they would never do something that they knew could kill them. If they do manage to die then they are reborn as fire spirits.

Because these cursed birds were so dangerous to other flocks they were banished deep into the desert, and over the next 200 years they made themselves at home near a large oasis. essentially creating the village from the scrapped AHIT level Sand N Sails.

Now, in the present times no one really seems to remember why these cursed birds exist so no one really minds the few /phoenix who leave the desert and make themselves at home in other villages or the big city.

"Hat, what are you doing?" Bow Kid's concerned voice chased after her as her friend's shadow creeped above her head.

"I'm just gonna take a peek," she insisted. The massive invention and the mystery of the lost water intrigued her. Having already experienced a similar adventure through the tunnels under the Subcon well, Hat Kid wanted to know if there was any hope of solving this case.  

"I don't think Thor would like it if we messed with any of his machines." A moment later, a second figure began to climb down the ladder after Hat Kid; however, it wasn't Bow. The other girl continued with an exasperated cry, "Not you too!"

"Someone has to keep you both from breaking anything," Timmy replied. 

The Sand n' Sails Resort has been updated on FFN and Ao3! We begin another new act: Oasis Maker.

It wasn't a very large structure, at least on the outside. At a glance, it was hard to picture it comparing with the tall pyramids or ziggurats of other areas on the planet. As Hat and Bow Kid stepped over to the entrance though, they heard a dull, roaring ambiance similar to a deep cavern's. The way in was pitch black.

Shrugging off her backpack, Hat Kid took out a miner's hat she'd acquired during one of her previous adventures. She turned on its light, which cast a wide beam into the passage ahead. Grabbing Bow's hand, the two children began to make their careful trek inside.

The Sand n' Sails Resort has updated on FFN and Ao3!! Act Four kicks off with some insight from Snatcher and a man gone missing.

After a very long wait, The Sand n' Sails Resort has been updated on FFN and Ao3, finishing off Act Three!! Here's to hoping I can get back to working on this series a bit more regularly, because I do want to see it through to the end.

Having shattered through the great barrier known as a creative block, I have returned with another chapter of The Sand n' Sails Resort! And so it continues, up on FFN and Ao3!!

Act Two has begun, now up on FFN and Ao3!!

“Soggy papers were strewn across the floor around the reception desk, a couple of potted plants were tipped over, and chairs were flipped on their backs.  What bewildered them the most though was the single humanoid figure standing in the middle of the room: A large, imposing robot in a pair of overalls that wielded a mop as if it were a war hammer.”

We’ve reached the first time rift! Updated on FFN and Ao3!!

There was something off about this broken up world of hovering platforms and a distant cityscape. More than usual, anyway.  By that point, Hat Kid had come to expect the time rifts to reflect her ongoing series of adventures on Earth as well.  Often, it was through the appearance of familiar enemies.  These existed more along the lines of illusions, but their attacks would still feel very much real until the girls escaped the rift.  Other times, she had to navigate across platforms using tools and skills she’d only recently learned about on the planet, such as the use of her Dweller Mask.

Still, the changes this time were too drastic to ignore.
