i would like to know more about the mc's devil contract in bluebird 👀👀👀 (if you'd like to yap about it)

AHHHH HI ELLA 🫶 I did want to yap about it but I genuinely couldn't remember if I'd already spoiled it at some point LMAOOO. but like. I do not know if/when I will ever finish that fic so I really do need to say it all somewhere at least once and that tweet reminded me strongly of it 😔

WARNINGS: for major csm part 1 spoilers, noncon and grooming mentions. also tw makima 😔

okay so. the reader has two contracts.

the first contract is the one that she made in the first scene of the prologue. I think pretty much everyone who read the fic realised that the blue-eyed devil had taken the shape of aki when speaking with her. I am not sure though if anyone realised that the two of them had sex, though:

Your back smears with chalk as the Devil climbs atop you. It whispers sweet things into your ear, all the while lowering its mouth. The seal of its lips part to reveal row after row of jagged teeth spilling out from its beautiful mouth, and you suppress a flinch.

Pain cuts your innards like a knife. Beneath the Devil's gaze, your blood spills out onto the floor. The vulnerable bits of you are gutted out, bleeding out across ivory lines. The Devil watches with a feverish grin, and all you can think about is how you never want those eyes to see you like this again.

On December 24th, 1993, you offer your flesh to a devil with blue eyes, and you receive its powers in return.

the devil in this scene is the heart devil, to whom the reader was initially sacrificed for a deal (because 'devils love virgin girls'), but then decided that it would rather form a pact with her rather than devour her. it's superficially demanded her virginity in exchange for its powers, but what she's really given up is her capacity for emotional intimacy, which has been destroyed because of the insanely fucked up situation she's been put through (getting sacrificed by a loved one to a devil, losing her virginity to that devil, using her contract's powers to kill the person who just tried to sacrifice her). this is a great irony, because while her own ability for intimacy has been permanently damaged, she ends up with the ability to see people's most vivid memories and make them fall in love with her. she invokes this ability via eye contact and physical touch (and yes, its effect is greatest when she has sex with people).

makima finds her right after this initial opening scene - with all the evidence of a devil summoning and a murder on her hands. so of course, makima is the first person the reader tries to use her powers on, so that she may escape. makima is one of the few devils who can actually resist it - she is the control devil herself, after all, so it's hardly as if a lesser devil can control her - but she finds the effect of the heart devil's powers incredibly addictive. it's the closest thing to love that makima has ever felt. so makima makes a contract with the reader: she may borrow the powers of the control devil so long as makima is allowed to sleep with her whenever she wishes.

this second contract, of course, is something that makima doesn't ever allow the reader to remember for too long.

Hi! I’m currently reading Yearling - I waiting until you finished it up, so I could download the behemoth onto my kindle and enjoy reading it like the novel it rightfully is. Anyway, started it 2 days ago and I’m on chapter 11 and I. Cannot. Put. It. Down. OMG I’m in love with this entire Jackson-based universe!

I love the dynamic between Joel and Bambi - he’s soft and she’s rough around the edges, which is such a reversal from other Jackson stories. I love soft Joel. And I just love all the descriptions about horses - it’s literal magic!

I'm so glad you're enjoying it!! I loved really getting into Jackson and the people there in that fic, I miss it so much honestly. And I love that iteration of Joel, one who's been softened by Ellie and has come to terms with the vulnerability of loving someone again. I know I talk on here a lot about the different facets of that man but god I love him so much. There's so much conflict in him because I think he's inherently a very tender-hearted, soft person. He loves fiercely and I think it comes kind of easy for him, too - once he starts to fall for someone, the man falls quick. But that made him so vulnerable to the life-destroying grief and pain that comes with losing love and the Joel at the intersections of these things - the pain of loss but the inherent ability to love - just fascinates me.

Anyway, before I write a full dissertation in my asks... You're in for a ride, bestie! I hope you enjoy it.

Another week, another update on what's going on in terms of writing!

FIRST REQUESTS! Going to start poking at them again as got like...90 to still do and want to wittle that number down. Just been really focused on the bigger fics and getting content out for them.

PRIORITY FICS Going to be looking to finish a few stories this week! Below are the ones you are going to see updates to for sure! HISTORICALLY INACCURATE: Final chapter is going up this week. Going to finally bring this story to an end. Feels strange that I'm about to end this story. It is currently my most popular which STILL shocks me 8I

SEVEN DAYS TO FALL IN LOVE: Last two chapters I'm looking to get done this week and get this fic shipped off. The chapters are too huge, so shouldn't be too hard so keep an eye out for those c:

BROKEN IN WAYS NO ONE SEES: At least the next two chapters I want to get out quickly so can get to the fluff everyone has been waiting for haha! This update is def coming.

LESSONS IN ACCIDENTAL SEDUCTION: The chapter is nealry done, just need the last two scenes. Been really eager to write this one as want to get to the next chapter <3

PULL ME ALONG IF I CAN'T MOVE FORWARD: Baku/Deku one-shot that is in the works that I hope readers will enjoy when it goes up!

FICS IN THE NETHER/BEING FORMED LAW MEETS DISORDER: STill working on it, but haven't been able to dedicate the time to the preproduction outline as of now. It is going to be a long fic though, so waiting for a few longer fics to wrap up.

THE DRAGON AU: Dragon Sukuita story is back to being poked at although it is still a long way off from being ready to be written.

Tav rested in Astarion's lap, her arms curled around him, her face pressed against the curve of his neck. How long they had been like this? Astarion did not know. He wasn't counting the seconds. He was listening to the drumming of her heart -- and with each passing moment the beats grew further apart.

Her heart. The very thing that kept her here, with him, that pumped her blood through her veins -- it had been steadily growing weaker for some time now. It wouldn't be long before her mortal form betrayed her. Before her soul was plucked like a ripened cherry in the summer heat.

So, he listened, completely silent, not even daring to breathe, as she spoke her final words. Her voice, weak, as though each word was a struggle. Astarion wished he could ease her pain, but death would soothe her soon enough.

Astarion was quiet, listening to the sounds of her failing body for a moment longer before he spoke.

"Yes, little love, it is funny that you believe there will be anyone after you," Astarion whispered. "There is no being, not in my past, nor in my future that could possibly bring me the happiness you offered in our short time together."

She was too weak to respond, falling limp, fading in his arms. He knew this feeling well. Countless others had died at his hand, but it wasn't like this -- it didn't hurt like this. Their lives were meaningless. She was -- gods, she was everything.

And it stung, knowing that she did not truly love him. Not in the way she used to. That she yearned for a version of him who was long dead. The version of him that had been so weak, so pathetic --

He loathed the old him. But he pretended, for her. His reasons, for all of this, they were his own. He would not speak them aloud. He would not even allow himself to think on it.

"I'll find you again, he'll find you, I swear it," Astarion whispered. "There is nothing that could keep us apart, my love, not even the promise of oblivion."

He would do almost anything to freeze this moment. To keep her here, his, forever. But she hadn't given him enough time. Part of him resented her for that -- it was easier to hate her than to blame himself for his shortcomings.

What good was all this power if he couldn't have her? If the only one he'd ever truly cared for could still be taken from him?

He lost her the day she walked away. He let her go. He should have stopped her -- he should have turned her then. She would have forgiven him in time, surely. No --

No, the cost would have been too high. They were both so strong willed. He would have destroyed her love. She would have ruined him in return.

This was better. This, this ending, it would mean that what they had was real -- and would remain that way, in his memory, for as long as he lived.

A/N: Okay, so, he almost seems too well adjusted here and I swear he's not. Lol. He's actually a mess.

I absolutely ADORE this fic. It's such a great introspective look into Rick's perceived notions about Prime and how he thinks/believes Prime perceives him. I adore the prose, Hex writes wonderfully vivid/visual prose and it's so easy to imagine the scenes in my head. It's such a gutwrenching fic and there's one scene that grasps my heart and soul forever. The Prime dialogue is honestly so good and so in character and I love the difficult questions that put Rick on the spot. Overall, the premise is so deliciously angsty and so so SO great.

GOD. THE QUEEN OF WRITING SUCCINCTLY. This less than 1300 word fic literally DESTROYS me every time I read it. It is the most in character prickcest I have ever read. I absolutely adore the way Prime is characterised here, the way he challenges Rick but even through all the tension... the fact that they still hang out together makes me so CAT SCREAM. This fic is so perfect the way it describes both Rick and Prime as characters and their relationship together, but explored through a simple video game at the arcade... honestly can't say enough good things about this fic tbh
