I have a head canon that Xuan was kinda like, a cryptid when he was in the esper academy. He had probably only ever been close to Yun until then so he had literally no idea how to talk to people. Plus, his transformation had killed most of his impulse control so he was prone to doing dumb things (I also think that transformations, particularly the strong ones, sometimes result in parts of the Devine’s personality influencing the esper). So ling and Lewis knew nothing about this weird guy (1/2)

OP, I think you mean canon?? AbsoLUTELY YES, TO THIS HEADCANON.

Tang Xuan is THE face of the Union, the poster boy, the star, the pride, etc etc. He can charm a crowd, rally a large group, and start giant movements from his sheer charisma alone, but get him to make actual close friends and ?? He has to like??? Actually have a two way conversation? He can't just insert himself, smile brilliantly, and refferree a match to gain friends? Leaving [his favourite] snacks DOESN'T lead to instant BFFs?? But, but he's sitting at the friend table! He does so everyday! He doesn't say a peep, just smiles, but surely we're all friends here!

Just, ah, socially awkward, but make him extroverted so instead of a stumbling mess he's just v intimidating, smiling so brightly with sparkling eyes, randomly popping up out of nowhere.

And him attaching himself to Lewis and Li Ling is giving the poor dudes anxiety cause, damn he must WANNA fight, the little punk ass with his stupidly cute big ass grin.

But no one knows ANYTHING really about him, other than him being the older twin, THE Monkey King's chosen esper, and that he leaves pudding out like a freaking calling card (scares some of the younger/newer espers who think he's putting a hit on them). Oh, and that he can, will, and HAS completely bodied giant ass colossal miramon by himself, almost gleefully and without breaking a sweat.

Honestly, OP, from how it sounds in universe, the citizens and other members of the Union love, adore, worship, and are baffled and awed by Tang Xuan the way the Internet is with Keanu Reeves. Just a pretty man who has done no wrong, looks and acts like a cinnamon roll but will absolutely kill, somehow manages to be a complete mystery while being the most well known celebrity, and shockingly human and humble when you actually meet him.

Now, for the shippers... Imagine the SHOCKWAVE of media exploding when it's confirmed/announced that Li Ling and Tang Xuan are/have been dating! Two completely different spheres of popularity (Mr. Fanservice vs Mr. [Insert the equivalent of this world's Internet]'s Boyfriend) becoming an power couple? It would BREAK THE MEDIA. People would lose their minds over Poster Boy!Tang Xuan getting to nuzzle and motor boat Li Ling's Booba™ all day, every day. Fans would rave over sudden pictures circulating of Tang Xuan In the Wild™ more often. It would be WILD.

like i never thought i'd say this but i get the whole "comfort kpop boy" idea now because he's just so comforting to me! and everything he does just... makes sense? i think we aren't necessarily *that* similar personality wise but a lot of what he does and says makes me go "ah yes same buddy, same" like i just Get It, it checks out for me somehow (and he reminds me a lot of my partner which might explain some things akshjdhsfjh) to summarise: he's basically my ideal type 😂 i've had more biases but this man just.... yeah 😫

this was was very clear to me cause he is my skz bias from the start lol: i'd been listening to skz for a long time without checking out the rest of their content to avoid getting too invested because i knew i'd really fall for them. but then i eventually did (cause i have no spine) and i wanted to know more about the members. i watched some yt compilations and when i was on my first minho compilation (iirc it was him being sassy on vlive) he opened his mouth and i thought to myself: yes. YES. you're coming home with me

& i remember one of my first thoughts being "he's so sweet", so i was honestly a little surprised to find out some people think he's mean or weird (???). to me his dark humour is just *chef's kiss* + my love language is insults too so i really feel all his playful banter and sass on a personal level ajsdhfkjsdfh (yes to threats of physical violence i WILL fight him <333)

i'm a big supporter of the Lino Beret Boy Agenda and every time they put him in a harness and tight pants but this flannel pyjama look is so underrated? the colour the matching eyeshadow and hair... the softness of it all i'm in love 😍😍😍

Imagine being a bedraggled senior to this overachieving Yang energy abundant baobei who only ever wants to look out for you whenever he could.

❄️Chongyun's an IT Student who majors in Game Development and so he doesn't really have much of a need with the orthodox study materials of books and papers. He only ever has a laptop that he leaves on campus and otherwise just carries around in his arms.

❄️He's a rather famous junior because of his soft looks and his equally gentle character.

❄️Mostly dresses lazily in hoodies, jumpers, sweats and loafers.

❄️Pulled a late nighter because of a term paper? Boy already waiting for you at the university gates with a cup of your favourite coffee in hand and a coy smile on his face.

"Ah, jie, I heard that you'd been working on your term paper all night? Here, I got you your coffee. I wish I could be half as diligent as you are once it's my turn to make those papers!"

❄️A dreary day in class? Your boy's already hanging right outside the wall near your window seat to pull funny faces to cheer you up.

❄️Got all those books you need to haul around? Popsicle boy gets a tote bag just for you, it's his tote though, for carrying your things.

"You never told me you needed a calculator, jie. Next time you'd want me to bring something shoot me a message, yea? As of now it's empty because- ah, yes, those books of yours, let me carry them!"

🔹Needless to say henceforth a scientific calculator had found its rightful place in that bag of his.

❄️He'd also bring extra shirts in there for his gym classes, one of which you'd snagged after a dreadful wardrobe malfunction. He then proceeds to bring one on a daily basis for emergencies.

❄️Xingqui slapped a custom-made Spotify qr patch on the fabled tote as a prank, Chongyun never noticed but you did and so you scanned it and-

Boyfriend booms on your Bluetooth speakers (that so happened to be turned up full-blast courtesy of your deaf dance club members) as Chongyun cheerily jogs up to you with the brightest of smiles on his face- he was just about to regale you with the news of his A+ research paper when he notices the song, the lyrics, the looks on your friends' faces and then Xingqui's conniving little grin-

The literature major had been tormenting him with the same song for well over a month now along with the constant jibes of "So when are you asking her out? It's a surprise really, with how much you're fussing over her everyone's thinking you already are,"

"You started bringing a bag with you for goodness' sakes!"

❄️Chongyun never understood the deal with him bringing a bag like every other student does. Like he doesn't understand labels with relationships among quite a number of even more pressing things.

❄️But he always does his absolute best to be good, and he thinks it's enough. Which of course concerns you to great lengths because more than once had you seen him been taken advantage of because of this.

🔹Xingqui and you made a bond out of bitch-slapping those who dared one-up the pure boy.

❄️You would fondly refer to him as Little Ducky as he used to follow you around during his first days in campus. His parents knew yours and so they left Chongyun to your care during his freshman year.

🔹 Unbeknownst to you, he would use the nickname he treasures most for all the computer games he got to playing with his friends. It ceases to be a secret when Xingqui decides to livestream one of their game nights and makes it a point to call Chongyun out on every single thing that he does- good and bad.

"Lil Ducky your aim's a little off."

"Lil Ducky med kit med kit- MED KIT!!!"

"Nice shot, Lil Ducky!"

"Lil Ducky DUCKKKK!!!"

Xiao drops off early game in annoyance.
