That's so cool to read because I wrote him as kind of an agony uncle in two of my fics before S3 😅

He’s almost a soundboard to a lot of the other characters. People often come to him going ‘I don’t know what to do’ and he goes ‘well, me neither, but do you want to talk about it?’ I think that’s his role for the time being."

Cahir is plagued by a bad nightmare and needs a shoulder to cry on. How very lucky that agony uncle Jaskier is around and nobody else. (Set somewhen between the fish soup and the Battle on the Bridge, but you don't need to understand what that means to understand the story.)

i know eskel/geralt/jaskier is a thing, and i know yennefer/geralt/jaskier is a thing, but was about eskel/geralt/yennefer?? is that a thing people write?

anyway that post is making me imagine, years and years down the line, something happens and eskel is on his last coin and his last leg, and he technically knows that the doors of geralt's vineyard are always open to him, so even tho he's gonna consider it agony to stay there with them, and it makes him a little ashamed, he drags himself to corvo bianco

and geralt kind of frets over him, gently asks why it took him so long to visit, but he doesnt get much of an answer and sortve leaves it at that, doesnt push him. but eskel's hurt bad, and geralt INSISTS on him staying until he's fully healed, says they have more than enough space

and somehow, the longer he stays, the more they talk, until the reason that eskel's made himself scarce comes out-- he's not needed-- and geralt cant help but lean forward and grab his hands tight and blurt out "of course i need you!" because it's eskel!!!! of course he needs eskel!!!

and the transition certainly isnt smooth, but it's definitely a poly resolution because sure geralt loves yen, but he also loves eskel, and eskel is allowed to have a life there with them, if he wants!!! and yen values him as a friend, and maybe ciri comes to visit and is delighted to see her uncle. and eskel gets to heal and realize he does have people who care. oughghhgh im getting all melty about it ;A;

I just finished the Witcher on Netflix, and my first thought when I finished was that you would probably like it. And from what I can tell, it looks like I’m right! If you haven’t already, would you be likely to consider writing fic for the Witcher? I absolutely adore your work so if you do happen to write anything for that show I hope you’ll share it!

Hey there, Anon, I enjoyed the new Witcher show a lot! I'm actually playing the Witcher 3 from the beginning again, and I'll probably write fusion stuff at some point.

I admit, I have... feelings about Geralt and Yennefer - not in the sense that I DON'T think they're, unfortunately, tailor-made for one another, I just feel that it's quite a fraught relationship and one that's like... complicated, and kind of hinges on an exclusivity neither of them actually want to commit to lmao. Given their respective upbringings and the extent to which both have had elements of their humanity stripped away in favour of excruciating agonies and some cool magic, it's not surprising? It's just not the dynamic I tend to go in for.

I actually love Yennefer and Geralt as Ciri's parental figures (especially with Vesemir's uncle influence) but I tend to think they function way better when they revolve around her in mutual orbit rather than when they revolve around one another.

I think Geralt and Jaskier are great fun in the game though, and I fell in love with the dynamic in the TV show lmao - Jaskier has a very different way of loving people, and I think it's a bit more accessible, I guess?

After being sent to search for Princess Cirilla outside the burning Aretuza, Cahir meets the destiny from his dreams. Scene from S3 E6 told from Cahir's POV plus his fight with the Scoia'tael and what happens afterward when he meets Yennefer and Jaskier again. 

Excerpt from Chapter 5: 

Jaskier wakes up to the sound of heavy rainfall - and to a face. A staggeringly beautiful face with amazing purple eyes framed by raven-black hair. Dripping wet hair.

“Witch?” he asks drowsily, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

She flops down in the sand next to him with a tired sigh instead of an answer.

“I gather, you achieved nothing besides getting yourself drenched, did you?”

She shakes her head. “No sign of Ciri anywhere. I feel like I’ve searched the entire goddamn island, but not a trace of her. Like fallen off the face of the earth.” Tears shimmer in Yennefer’s eyes. “Jaskier, what if we’ll never see her again?”

“Never say that, Yen. We’ll find her. Or Geralt will. I’m sure of it. But not now.” He looks at her with concern. “Now you, witch, need to get out of these soaked clothes, or you’ll catch your death.”

“Are you really worried about me, bard, or do you just want to see me in my underwear?” Yennefer asks, but there is none of the usual spark in her voice. “What happened to your shirt?” she then inquires, raising her eyebrows.

“It’s the latest fashion, didn’t you know? Perfectly shows a man’s muscles.” Jaskier grins and flexes his biceps. Then he gazes meaningfully into the direction where the Nilfgaardian is lying. “Figured he’d need those sleeves more than I.”

#that poor darling ahhhhh #and of course geralt feels extra terrible #becuz he's such a good dad so stuff like that'd be pure agony for him #as he struggles to explain that that's not it at all jaskier LOVES spending time with jer(which he DOES and it's part of why geralt was #able to fall for him so fast. because he's good with ciri and genuinely enjoys spending time with her) #maybe he even suggests some sort of ''play date night'' where jaskier comes over to play with ciri AND hang out with geralt #partially to make her feel better and partially to test the waters and see how they function as a unit all together #feels a little guilty about that too like he's forcing jaskier to compromise on their date #but of course jaskier doesnt see it that way and is delighted to get to see more of ciri #ohhhh and when she learns theyre dating. when geralt feels comfortable telling her #and she's like ''so jaskier's gonna be my new papa and play with me lots and lots??'' with stars in her eyes #and geralt's so relieved that she takes it so well. aaaahhh

I'm picturing him and Jaskier as roommates (bc I'm a sucker for it, sue me) so Ciri still sees him of course but there's a difference between seeing him more briefly before and after preschool and getting to spend hours hanging out with him and it's very upsetting for her, she doesn't really understand it, thinks Jaskier doesn't like her anymore

she tells Geralt as much one afternoon when he tells her that her uncle Eskel will be watching her that night, crying bc Jaskier always watches her on Friday nights why doesn't he wanna play with her anymore, doesn't he like her anymore?

And it absolutely shatters Geralt's heart and he feels so guilty bc it's not like Jaskier's working or something, he's just spending his time with Geralt rather than Ciri and it makes him feel like the world's shittiest dad

once Jaskier gets home, Geralt pulls him aside and tells him about Ciri said and Jaskier lets out this sad little guilty sound, looking just as stricken as Geralt feels about it

the next thing Geralt knows, Jaskier ducking into the living room to scoop Ciri up and spin her around in his arms and promise her, "okay, princess, your uncle Eskel is gonna watch you tonight but I promise, next Saturday will be just for us! We could go to the zoo or we could go shopping, but I think we should go ahead and do both, what d'ya think?"

And Ciri's laughing and squealing and already talking about how she wants to go see the ponies in the petting zoo first, then the wolves, then the pretty birds in the aviary and Geralt sends Jaskier the fondest, most grateful smile over Ciri's shoulder and mouths "thank you"

literally been thinking about this all day at work: modern au with single dad Geralt who's recently started dating his best friend Jaskier, who also happens to be Ciri's favorite babysitter, but it's still so new that Geralt hasn't explained it to Ciri yet

but Geralt ends up feeling super guilty, like he's stolen her best friend away, bc now whenever Geralt has plans it's with Jaskier so Ciri ends up staying with her uncles and she doesn't understand bc she's just a little kid so she cries to Geralt about how Jaskier doesn't wanna play with her anymore
