aghhhh, i've been so excited for this day because i get to celebrate this beautiful, talented community!!! 💖😍💖😍💖 rubs my little gay hands together gleefully...

@much-ado-about-whumping because they can settle into a character's headspace like its his home, building the beautiful furniture of reaction, justification, trauma, interests, and calculations around that space until each hurt feels like watching the hammers being taken to the boards of a beautiful house. his compassion for his characters is what makes them full, rich, and realized, in all of their crystals and cobwebs, their windows and cellars, and the gift they give to their readers is the ability to feel how they feel and what they feel as surely as if you lived in that house. 💖

@whump-tr0pes because every character they write is jagged and flawed with broken edges, no easy answers or clean lines, where most all of them have hurt and been hurt, they still can get better. when their stories, as langston hughes says, “cuts the world in two to see what worms are eating at the rind”, there are also seeds and despite the worms, maybe even because of the worms, a new tree is planted. their stories say that love and hope and trying are never ever wasted, no matter how ugly or cruel people get or the world becomes. even with worms, nothing is worthless or unable to grow and change. 💖

@haro-whumps because their stories often bear a sharp edge of dark camp, pulpy and vivid, the absurd in the nature of horror itself which, through all of their macabre delights, reveals so often a person just trying to carve out a pocket of stability. the effort reveals the world they live in as absurd. through forging relationships with fellow sufferers, through dutifulness, through healing or maintaining dignity or helping others, there is always a trying at the heart of their characters to make the impossible possible. their villains and victims, whether it’s “i’m a god�� or “i’m just a slave”, are all just people at the end of the day, stupid and messy and layered, a thing that horror at its best employs to make its subjects more lovable and more hateable. 💖

@whumpzone because her sense of tenderness serves the underlying traumas in her stories. since most of the horror lies in the pasts of these characters, it is always mind-blowing how well the characters reactions and bodies tell a story about what happened to them, from how they react to the gentle efforts of their caretakers or a perceived harm, so often these boys will break your heart through how thoroughly beaten-down they are and how obvious it is when they don't expect to be safe anywhere. the utter humanity with which the whumpees are treated highlights their past dehumanization all the more and that linearity in storytelling is so damn effective. 💖

@ashintheairlikesnow because what is there to say about her that hasn't been said ad nauseam by writer after writer in this community, for every aspect of her writing? so what i will restrain my praise to the specifics and say that her world-building is a rare and beautiful talent. her worldbuilding serves the themes of her story at every single turn, the tapestry of horror that capitalism wrecks on the world and the shape of the tools trying to cut those threads. there is no corner unexplored in the halls of institutions - she shows us exactly how fucked things are and the manual for how its done. never stop writing because i am hard pressed to remember a dystopia that felt so immediate and so realized. 💖

there is so much talent on whumblr that i could name bloggers all day, these authors just happen to be at the top of my list. your brilliance awes and inspires me and pushes me to higher standards with every new read and reread 🥰🥰🥰

okay so

a glitch happens in the neo world program and gundham gets split into 3 versions of himself? one is his current avatar, one is him during hope's peak/despair arc, and one is his remnant of despair self-

and they all have a common interest : Kazuichi Souda

kinda wanna make a one shot of this, but here’s what I got for it

Since they’re all Gundham, they all think that they’re the only one for Kazuichi, so I expect they’d fight a lot. Like, a lot a lot. To the point Sonia, Fuyuhiko and Hajime can’t take it anymore and they just corner Kaz to just pick one! But he doesn’t wanna cause he’s still fighting the “I’m not gay or bi its just guys are hot and maybe I wanna kiss them once” struggle ™️ so he’s dragging his feet but also scared of commitment because commitment is what made his mom vanish from his life.

But I can see Remnant Gundham just straight abducting him in the middle of the night and making him see all the benefits of choosing him, which makes the other two get in on and it devolves into a sorta orgy sort of train situation. They’d approach it about the same with slight variations:

I can completely see Kazuichi being so at their mercy - especially Remnant Gundham who in my headcanon is more hedonistic as his entropy and misanthropy is ramped to an 11, so he takes great liberties with Kazuichi’s body. His favorite position would definitely be one that keeps Kazuichi at his utter mercy - wet and gaping and incapable of doing anything on his own.

Hope’s Peak/Despair Arc Gundham is almost like our current avatar, but I’d say way mor socially inept if that’s possible? Way more a self proclaimed antagonist. Def thinks he’s the Kaiba to Kaz’s Joey or his Sasuake to his Naruto. He would be the softest at first, but gets demanding as they keep going. Kaz never disagrees anyway he’s too Simp to do so lol

Avatar Gundham I’m gonna say, is going to be a mix of these; after all, his NWP avatar was created with his previous personality from his school days. My headcanon for the whole NWP gang, is that the avatars are a mix of past and present, which would result in some minor (or major) shifts in personalities, habits and overall reactions to different situations. An organic consequence to removing the Enoshima brainwashing.

So Avatar Gundham would be a combination of both: sweet but wickedly cruel with his paramours comfort in mind! All three would def be into some form of BDSM and giving Kazuichi explicit instructions to follow. It also benefits Kazuichi, since canonically he has a thing for humiliation and orders; the real struggle would be to get him to stop begging, but they’d probably love that lol

In the end, he still can’t choose but hey, his dumbassery is endearing to them for some reason and the other two get sent back so it works out somehow!

of course that’s until the same glitch results in three Kazuichi’s but that’s a later problem.

Underrated Band: St Arnaud! They're melancholy indie jazzy stuff, and incredibly catchy. Gotten me through many tough times.

Underrated Book: I read The Memory Bank as a kid and have thought about it ever since. Gorgeous story & worldbuilding, but more importantly the illustrations are sooo gorgeous and detailed! So many lovely group scenes full of life!! That book very much inspired my perspective on life tbh, and everyone should take a sec to look up the art if you wanna see something cool :D

Underrated Movie: Big Night (with Stanley Tucci & Tony Shaloub) changed my brain chemistry forever aghhhh

aghhhh i miss kami-sama no ekohiiki. i still can’t place what it is exactly but it’s just very good like i think the body swap genderbender thing is quite scary for a lot of people. i mean this like as in trans people may approach with caution as did i but oh my god. i don’t know it’s just. good. it made me cry when i read it the first or second time i can’t remember. but it’s just good i don’t know. i think the way it handles the body swap thing is with a bit of care wrt how it ties into the MC’s attraction to his male crush. id have to reread to really place why and see what exactly was very poignant to me but it was and i want to reread. like it’s definitely not 100% perfect as all things but it was so. heartfelt i suppose. like for me personally it’s definitely one of those works that seemed to treat LGBT themes with some seriousness and respect that i was looking for as a younger gay looking to find themselves in something lol. i don’t know if it’ll hold up for kids who were my age (i think there’s a lot more Accessible [to an overseas audience] more younger audience friendly/respectful to RL gayness BL now. which is a great thing. i am so grateful for it everyday seriously) then but it definitely. means a lot to me in that way.

(and yea also this is where my lean towards shoujo published BL stems from lol… i mean BL is technically shoujosei wrt target audience but i dunno…something about the titles ive read)

i also kind of want to pick up the live action because i was perusing reviews and i was sooo. so happy seeing people praise it because i felt the manga wasn’t too out there but i loved the manga so much at the time (maybe like 5 years ish ago? i stumbled upon it when it was publishing and i kept up with the scan group who was scanlating lol) and i still think of it fondly. but anyway i saw a review talk about how it grounds its characters a little and how it’s done well with regards to its RL setting and it had me so curious oughh…..
