Myself and Simon Carter of @fcbstudios on site @tudublin discussing if Solaris Nexum might beat my record of largest sculpture to date. It doesn’t quite top my 25m record but it is by far the most complicated, mathematical and engineered piece to date. It’s taken a lot of collaborative working, team effort and problem solving to get the job done. I’ve been very secretive about my biggest project to date. It was supposed to be completed in under a year but Covid has extended it to almost two, as with a lot of projects. We’re now entering the final leg so get ready to see what’s been happening behind closed doors. This was the very first site visit in early 2020 to determine the best place to make a site-specific work for the new building @tudublin. There were two main contenders that would have determined very different approaches to the work.
