MARVEL'S "STRANGE TALES" BRANCHES OFF TO BECOME TWO PREMIERE CHARACTER TITLES.
PIC(S) INFO: "Another Marvel Mind Explosion from the one and only House of Ideas" -- Spotlight on a 1969 Marvel house ad for the then-newly minted monthly titles of "Doctor Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts," and "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Artwork by Steve Ditko & Jim Steranko.
"....as veteran Marvel readers and comics historians well know, 1968 was the year that Marvel Comics finally got out from under the thumb of their distributor (who also happened to be their primary competitor, DC Comics) and significantly expanded their line. Over the first three months of that year, Marvel took their three “double feature” titles — "Tales of Suspense," "Tales to Astonish," and the aforementioned "Strange Tales" — and split them up, resulting in six “new” titles — "Captain America," "Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man," "Sub-Mariner," "Doctor Strange," and "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Three of the books continued the numbering of the titles they’d been spun off from, while the other three (including "Nick Fury") started with brand new issue #1’s. What a great opportunity for a young comics fan to get in on the ground floor of some exciting new series, right?"

nothing will ever be funnier than that bit in agents of shield where coulson says "get ready for a large file transfer" and then shoves an entire filing cabinet out of a 4th story window

"The Avengers were a family!" No, at best they were workplace buddies
When Thor went off after killing Thanos, did anyone bother to check up on him? Send a call, a postcard, anything? Nope!
When Natasha died, even though they didn't have her body, did they try to hold a ceremony or vigil in her honor? No, they just threw a bench over a lake
This is one of the reasons Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will always be better to me, because they were a family. They genuinely cared about one another and wanted the best for each other
When Daisy went rogue, Coulson spent months searching for her. Not because "Quake" was a vigilante, because he wanted her to be safe. Because he knew she would heal better with them
When Fitz was locked up by the US military, Hunter came to his aid. They escaped and when it turned out they needed to go back, he didn't protest, because he knew Fitz would eventually succeed. Because he knew that he needed the pod to save the others
When Daisy was let go from Hive's sway and she had so much self-loathing, Mack was by her side. He held her and hugged her and assured her that everything was okay, that she was a good person, even as she was trying to hit him. And when she ended up collapsing and crying in his arms, he stayed with her
The Avengers are fine. Okay, they're. Fine. But they're nowhere near being a family like the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is

One reason why Agents of SHIELD is one of the more interesting Marvel/MCU projects out there is that you can pinpoint the moment where Marvel started to lose interest in the show and gave more creative freedom to the showrunners. Because at the start, it was just a glorified vehicle to advertise Phase 2. There was the direct tie-in to Iron Man 3 and the Thor: The Dark World episode.
But then, near the end of season 1 and throughout season 2, you can tell that Marvel Studios started to care less and less about the show and, thus, gave more leeway to the showrunners to do what they want. And this slowly led to the show becoming darker, edgier, and grittier. I think since the show was starting to become less of a season-long commercial for the movies, the showrunners didn’t have to be so family friendly anymore.
Let me put it like this. In season 1, you had an episode where Fitz and Simmons were working on pranks to do on the crew. Also, Skye being outed as a cosplayer and the gag scene where Fitz got stuck at a door.
In season 4, the season literally starts with a Daisy Johnson panty shot, followed by Ghost Rider murdering white supremacists. It’s not even subtle violence, a character gets covered in someone else’s blood, with the implication that Ghost Rider tore that dude’s neck or something.
If you weren’t there at the time, I can’t stress enough just how different the show felt when season 4 came along.
