When Alden disappears it’s you that’s under fire, you that takes the brunt of it when you return to NCIS HQ from working a case in Norfolk, to discover your husband is now wanted for murder and on the run with his ex-wife Vivian.
“They fooled you Lisa. It’s time to wake the hell up!” Agent Terry snarls at you across the conference room table. “Why are you protecting the man that’s been carrying on with his ex-wife behind your back?”
“If you had proof of that you’d be thrusting it in my face right now.” You tell him, your elbows coming to rest on the surface of the table. “Instead you’re throwing shit at the wall, hoping that it sticks.”
“Do actually believe him when he tells you that you’re the love of his life, that you’re the only woman he’s ever truly connected with?” He hits back because you aren’t playing ball. “Are you that fucking dumb?”
That’s when you realise they’ve been bugging your home, that they’ve been in your bedroom.
You shut down then, cross your arms over your chest and refuse to answer anymore of their questions because all you can think of is how this man and dozens of his colleagues know exactly how you fuck your husband.
The humiliation continues when they inform you that you’re suspended and march you through the building and all the way to your car. You’re not to contact anyone from NCIS, including Alden’s team so you have no idea what’s going on or the way the investigation is heading.
You know this is the FBI’s way of isolating you. They’re hoping you’ll trip up lead them to Alden or that you’ll feel so scorned that you’ll turn on him yourself.
More fool them, you think as you pick up a pack of cigarettes from the bodega and light one up. You don’t have a clue where Alden is and what he’s up to. This morning when you woke up you were happy, you’d made love to your husband, kissed him goodbye and then headed out to Norfolk for your case.
Now you’re technically homeless because you refuse to let the FBI witness your grief in the apartment you share with the man you love. You have no clothes, no luxuries, just the ring on your finger and two FBI agents trying to look inconspicuous as you smoke outside the hotel you’ve decided you’re staying in tonight.
You’ve barely been in your room an hour before the package arrives. You sign for it before tearing it open and tipping the contents onto the bed. There’s three items, a leaflet on orchid care, an eight of spades playing card and a key you don’t recognise.
It’s a message from Alden, one you read loud and clear.
The Orchid House in the Botanical Gardens, 8pm.
Alden’s been sneaking in there for years, taking clippings for his own collection.
You disconnect the alarm attached the rear fire exit before you slip out the door, leaving a folded piece of paper from the desktop notepad tucked against the snip so you can sneak back in later.
It takes twenty minutes for you to walk to the gardens, you avoid security cameras and hop the fence near the broken street light to avoid detection. You use your pocket torch to light up the darkness as you track through the foliage, trying not to leave a trace of your presence.
When you reach The Orchid House, it’s pitch black and locked up tight. Your own ghostly reflection looks back at you before you insert the key in the door and step inside. The humidity hits you like a wave, the same way it always does when you walk in here. It makes your sweater cling to your skin as you stride towards the bench where Alden always likes to sit.
Something rustles a couple of metres away and you lift your head to see your husband striding towards you. His black overcoat flutters behind him, the moonlight catching the profile of his  features and your heart beats just a little faster in your chest.
“Lisa.” He whispers and you hurtle into his arms, because the past twelve hours have been an absolute, living hell and you need this right now, you need him. “Oh sweetheart I’m sorry, I’m so god damn sorry.”
“They bugged our house.” You tell him, burying your face into his chest. “Our bedroom…”
His grasp on you tightens because it galls him that the FBI are doing this to the both of you, that they’re listening to your private moments, that they’re breaking you apart.
“How can I help you fix this?” You ask him, drawing away so you can look into his eyes. “How can we clear your name?”
We.
That’s what he’s always loved about you, when there’s a problem to be solved it’s always a we. He’s never alone, not when he has you.
“I need you to stay strong for me sweetheart.” He murmurs as his forehead comes to rest upon yours. “To keep believing in me because things, they’re about to rough.”

I'm sorry for this, it's not good. But somehow, I managed to get something done, so I gotta share. Kinda inspired by NCIS S21E08 'Heartless'.
Warnings: age gap, married couple, established relationship, talks of miscarriage, giving birth, jealousy, womanizer!Alden, daddy!Alden, very slight smut
Mine ~ Alden Parker
When you started to date Alden Parker, as he was still an FBI agent, you never considered becoming friends with his coworkers. Especially, after meeting a few of them he would consider his friends and they turned out to be judgmental towards the age gap in your relationship. Not that you wanted to befriend his coworkers anyways, you just agreed to meet them cause he asked.
However, it changed when Alden joined NCIS. He immediately started to tell you about his new team, and you could he was fond of them all, including his boss - which was extremely surprising since he never got along with his FBI boss, Sweeney. You quickly knew it would be different this time. It did take him a while before introducing you to them, but once it happened, you all hit it off. The guys were quite impressed with Alden wedlocking a woman fairly younger than him, while the girls, even though they wouldn't go for someone older, they agreed that Alden Parker had a little something. "It's the freaking hair!" Jess joked.
Before you knew it, this new team felt like family. You'd all hang out together - dinners, games night - and sometimes you'd have girls night with Jess and Kasie. You even babysit McGee's twins and/or Victoria a few times. Which, as much as you loved it, did hurt a little since it would remind you of the struggles you and Alden had been having to have a baby. Between not getting pregnant for months and the miscarriages, you had started to think that it wouldn't happen the natural way for you. Also, Alden really felt like he was getting too old to have a kid, no matter how badly he wanted one with you.
When you reached your third trimester, Alden felt pretty confident that this time everything was going to be alright while you couldn't shut that little voice in your head saying that something bad would happen like the other times. But finally, the nurse put your crying new born in your arms, and everything felt right. "You did so good, my love." Alden cried, kissing your forehead and looking down at his son. "Our miracle baby. He's perfect."
You didn't want the nurse to take him away from you but you knew they needed to check him up and clean him. "Do you guys have a name for this little guy?" Another nurse asked. You and Alden looked at each other for a second. "Axel Roman Parker." He said, proudly.
Obviously, the team was in the waiting room. Alden had been at work when you called him to tell him that your water broke. Nick had been the one driving to the hospital, "Torres, I'd like to meet my son before I die, thank you very much!" Alden shouted, holding onto the handle above the window.
"Don't worry, dad." Nick grinned.
Your husband went to see them to let them know that mom and baby boy were alright. "Is it okay if you guys only meet him in a few days?"
"Of course, no rush!"
"Send us pictures though! Please?"
Alden didn't want to go back to work after his paternity leave. He didn't want to leave his little family. The night before his first day back, he actually felt depressed. "He's changing so much so fast, I'm gonna miss so much." He sadly said, stroking his son's back, who was peaceful sleeping on daddy's chest.
"I'll take as many pics and videos I can." You kissed your husband's cheek. "And Vance said you don't have to put many hours like you usually do."
"I know, but still."
You noticed the tears forming in his eyes and it broke your heart a little. You didn't want him to go back to work either. You wish he could push his leave a little more, but he had pushed it as much as possible already - director Vance had been amazing and made it easy. You wrapped your arm around Alden's neck, carefully so you wouldn't wake up Axel. He nuzzled your neck as you gently stroked his hair. "He loves you and perfectly knows who daddy is. It won't change in a few hours, I promise."
"I honestly thought it would never happen for me, you know? Before you and then the issues we had, I thought-- I just wasn't meant to be a dad. But now he's here, and I just don't want to be away from him."
"Aw, baby." You cried with him. "I wish there was a way for you to stay."
The next day, Alden arrived late at work as he struggled to let go of Axel. Jimmy and Tim, who knew how it felt, were very helpful throughout the following week.
It took you months to separate from Axel, just for a few hours. And even more time to go out for a girls night while Alden had a boys night with his little man.
"I almost forgot how champagne tasted." You smiled, having your first drink in over a year.
"Good thing we took a whole bottle then!"
The conversation between you, Jess, Kasie and Delilah went on as it usually does when you four get together. Jess talked about her relationship with Jimmy, and her dad. Kasie confessed about her new crush - you and the girls immediately hyped her. Delilah talked about her job, and the twins newest obsessions. And you obviously talked about Axel and your husband.
"By the way, how's Alden's neck?" Jess asked.
"Perfect! Did Nick really fix him with a bear hug?"
"He did! It was pretty funny!" Jess laughed, remembering the scene from a couple of days ago. "Doctor Logan probably thought we were crazy."
"I can't believe that my husband im-so-scared-of-needles-hold-me-hand worked on a heart surgery." You laughed, trying to imagine the scene.
"Mr I fainted when my wife got her epidural." Kasie teased.
"In his defense, it's a pretty big needle for this." Delilah said. "Thank god he didn't faint during the surgery though." She joked.
"Well, if he did, I'm sure Doctor Logan would've enjoyed giving him mouth to mouth."
You, Kasie and Delilah turned like one person to look at Jessica. "What?" She asked, confused. Then she looked at you. "He didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"Um..."
"Jessica Knight."
"The doc clearly developed a crush on him. She practically flirted with him in front of me."
You let out a deep breath. "Did he flirt back?"
"Not really, he was genuinely confused."
"Did he not learn his lesson with the senator?" Kasie chimed in.
You finished your drink in one swallow, remembering when he gave you a piece of paper with a number on it. "Whose number is it?"
"A senator." He had said.
"Alright and what am I supposed to do with it?"
"You, nothing. But I guess she wanted me to call when she gave it to me." The jerk was smiling while you used to candle flame to burn the paper.
"I don't care about the 'it's safer for you if people don't know I'm married' crap, I'm gonna glue the wedding band to his damn finger."
The girls laughed, always enjoying how easily you get jealous when there's a woman around Alden. When you had learned that some women in the office kinda liked your man, you showed up at the NCIS headquarters for the first time and asked for a tour. When his ex wife got involved in a case, you were feeling anxious, even though she knew about you from the beginning, thanks to Alden's parents. The worst actually was when he saw his first love for the first time in over thirty years. He had admitted that it felt very strange, and maybe if he had been single, he'd have pursued something, but he was married to you, and deeply in love with you and he'd be crazy to let you go. It was one of those rare moments when you and Alden were struggling, and fought a little more often. But he never gave you a reason to be jealous or suspicious, it was just a part of your personality. And to be fair, he was such a womanizer, you couldn't help but to think that any other woman would be better than you.
You got home slightly drunk, which Alden expected. He was happy that you finally let yourself have some fun away from him and Axel. Barely sleeping on the couch, he immediately got up when he heard you come in. "Hey! What are you doing up? Is Axel awake?" You asked, struggling to take your shoes off. Alden kneeled down to help you.
"He did wake up an hour ago for his bottle but he's fast asleep now."
"Good, good." You leaned a little and ran your hand through his hair. "I'm so so so so happy you're my baby daddy."
Chuckling softly, he got back up and wrapped his arms around your waist. "Thank you for choosing me. You made all my dreams come true." You hugged there for a moment, just enjoying each other. "Let's go to bed, baby mama." He started to carry you, grabbing the baby monitor on the way.
"No sleeping, gimme another baby." He laughed but quickly got cut off as you smashed your mouth on his. He managed to get to the bedroom while you practically assaulting him, holding his face firmly and french kissing him. Of course his body was responding positively. As he put you down on the bed, you dragged him along. He was on top of you and you started to make out. It was long until you felt his erected cock between your legs. You reached for it, forcing your hands under his shorts. "Fuck, baby." He moaned.
"Yes, fuck me daddy."
And he did just that. ~
After freshening up in the bathroom, Alden found you in the nursery, looking over Axel. He hugged you from behind. "Do you really want another?" He asked, cautiously.
"Not necessarily," you admitted. "I mean, if it happens, I'll be very happy but I can't go through the struggles again."
"Okay. We've got him and he's absolutely perfect." You stroked your son's hair one more time before turning around to face your husband.
"He really is." You grabbed his left hand and stared at it for a moment. "This wedding band stays on, Alden. 24/7."
"But--"
"No but. I'm done with women flirting with you cause they assume you're single. You're taken, you're fucking mine. You keep the damn ring on."
Alden stayed silent for a moment. "Jess told you about Doctor Logan, didn't she?" You only looked at him, arms crossed. "Fine, I won't take off my ring ever again." He reached for your wrists and made you uncrossed your arms as he hated when you strike that pose on purpose. He brought you as close as possible to him. "Are you ever going to accept the fact that you're the love of my life? That I rather be single for the rest of my life than with someone else than you? That losing you and now Axel, would absolutely destroy me?"
All you could do was kiss him, but he did saw the tears falling down your cheeks.

Hiiii ☺️☺️
I’ve got an Alden Parker x reader request idea if you’re open to it! Basically the team is working a case where they end up  interviewing an older woman as a witness (older than Parker) who clearly thinks he’s handsome but he politely stays professional (we know Nick would tease him for it). But later he ends up meeting her granddaughter and this time he’s the one that starts flirting with her despite the age gap.
A Tale Of Two Flirts
Tumblr media
Summary: When interviewing witnesses, Alden finds himself in an awkward position when one of them starts flirting with him. But later on, he finds himself flirting with her granddaughter, you.
Warnings: quite possibly the worst thing i've written 😂 and I know I say that a lot.
Word count: 2777
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Alden Parker x f!reader
[A/N] I know this is bad, 😂 I’ve literally been working on this for like 2 months and every time I thought I’d finished, I restarted it because I just thought it wasn’t good enough. There isn’t that much flirting in here like the request asked and I hope that’s okay, it’s just that I flirt like a potato.
You may say to yourself, “Nova, potatoes can’t flirt,” Exactly 🤣
And the title is shitty too, I’m so sorry. But right now, I get started and I think I’m on a roll but then my brain’s just like “Haha bitch, just kidding”
Hope you like it though
The wooden steps creaked slightly under their weight. As they approach the door, Alden raised a hand to knock firmly against the wooden door.
Knock knock
The faint hum of a television could be heard from inside but the sound immediately disappeared and the sound of footsteps replaced it.
Alden took out his ID as the door flew open, revealing and older woman, early 70s, with bright blue eyes and slightly greying hair. He holds it up to her and Nick behind him, does the same thing, “Good morning, ma’am, I’m Special Agent Parker and this is…”
The woman smirked and leant on the doorframe, “Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,”
A snort from behind him made Alden turn around and glare at the owner of the sound. He turned back to the lady.
"So, you saw the whole thing?" Alden asked, his brow furrowing slightly as he tried to steer the conversation back to the case. The witness he was talking to, a woman in her early 70s with silver hair and piercing blue eyes, seemed more interested in him than in answering his questions. Every so often, he could hear a snicker or a snort from beside him, where his partner Nick Alvarez sat, struggling to maintain a straight face.
“If only I did,” the woman said with a coy smile, her voice low and seductive as she leaned in closer. Alden's face turned a shade of crimson as he stole a quick glance at Nick, silently begging for help, but Nick was too busy trying to stifle his laughter.
"I was referring to the homicide, Mrs. Walsh," Alden explained, his voice maintaining a sense of professionalism even as a blush started to appear on his cheeks. Mrs. Walsh responded with a mischievous wink before replying…
“It’s Ms. Walsh,” she corrected him, her smile widening into a grin.
“Ms. Walsh," Alden corrected himself quickly, "Did you see who did this to Petty Officer Lindsey?” He asked, hoping to keep the conversation on topic. Ms. Walsh leaned back in her chair, her eyes narrowing as she thought.
She shook her head, “By the time I made it to the window, it was all over. I heard a lot of yelling and screaming,”  she replied. Alden and Nick continued to ask her questions and each of her answers included a flirty compliment in some way or another.
Just as the two agents began to walk away, the older woman spoke up again, "You know, dinner might make me feel better. What are you doing later?" she asked, giving Alden a sly smile.
Alden laughed nervously, again looking at Torres for help but he just smiled and walked away, “Probably solving the case, Ms Walsh,” he said politely and excused himself. He walked down the steps of the porch and headed towards Torres.
“Thanks for your help there, Torres,” he said, sarcasm dripping from his tone, “I really appreciate it,” Torres just shrugged with a smirk on his face.
The team headed back to the Navy Yard to continue the investigation. Over the course of the day, Alden had suffered at the hands of Torres’ endless teasing.  He thanked God that he drove over with McGee and not Torres, although his luck ended as soon as they all got into the elevator.
“So, Parker, when’s the special day?” Nick asked with the childish grin on his face, as if he’d just asked what he was getting for Christmas.
Jess and McGee looked at each other, with confused glances. Of course, they didn’t know what was going on, they weren’t there when it happened and Nick kept quiet in the car ride over here, wanting to save it until he was in the same room as Alden, and everyone else was around to hear.
“Wait, what special day?” Tim asked for both him and Jess.
Nick slapped a hand on Alden’s shoulder, his grin getting wider, “Parker’s getting married,”
“What?!” they exclaimed in unison.
“When did this happen?" Jess added, a confused look crossing her face. Two questions went through her head. How on earth did she not know her boss was getting married? And how did Torres keep his mouth shut about it?
Torres was about to speak, but Alden cut him off, “It didn’t,” Alden ran a hand down his face before continuing with the real version events and not Nick’s “There was just a witness that showed a… particular interest in me,”
“She wanted to see all of it” Torres continued, emphasising the word all, to convey that the woman desired to see Alden in his entirety.
“I take it you didn’t help him out?” Tim asked Torres. thinking he probably didn't. Why was he even asking?
Torres shook his head, “Of course not, it was funny,” he looked back to Alden with a smirk and asked, “Can I be best man?”
Alden scoffed, “No,” he said as he turned towards the door as it arrived at their floor.
Unfortunately for Alden, this continues throughout the day. By the end of the day, he felt like someone had been whacking his brain repeatedly with a hammer. He couldn’t wait to solve this case, go home and relax. Preferably before he gave into the urge to get out his gun and shoot Torres with it.
***
You met him on Saturday, when he came over to your grandmother’s to ask her if she recognised the suspect or if she’d seen her around.
You had arrived the day before after work and you were shocked to find the house next door was an active crime scene.
It being a Friday, you were headed to your grandmother's for the weekend. But as you walked from your car towards her house, you noticed her neighbour’s house covered in yellow police tape. “What the hell happened?” you asked yourself, your heart raced as you took in the sight before you. Your eyes widened as you noticed the broken window and the red stains smeared across it that you could only think of being blood. And considering the police tape, it wasn’t that much of a stretch.
The chill of the evening air nipped at your skin as you approached the scene, the flickering streetlamp casting eerie shadows on the ground. You pulled your coat closer to your body, hoping to shield yourself from some of the cold of the night or maybe the sight in front of you.
You couldn’t look at it anymore, so you continued on your way. The first thing you asked was if your grandmother was okay. After she reassured you that she was, you asked what happened.
She started to talk to you about what happened and how her neighbour was murdered and she was telling you everything she knew but somehow, for some reason, she began talking about something completely different.
A man. And it seemed that he had made quite an impression on her. So much so that you actually wanted to erase the last 5 minutes. The last thing you wanted was to hear your grandmother explain to you, in detail, all the things that she wanted to do to this man.
The next morning wasn’t any better. She began by telling you that she had a “lovely dream”, and she “hadn’t had one in so long”. You almost spat out your cereal at what she was hinting at.
“Gross, really?”
“Don’t be such a prude, how do you think I had your mother?”
You shuddered in disgust just as the doorbell rang and you couldn’t get out of your chair fast enough. You rushed over to the door, noticing two figures standing outside through the translucent glass.
As you opened the door, the two figures become clearer. Surprise briefly flashed on the face of the one lurking in the background before a smirk began to form. The one in front was looking down, fiddling with some papers.
“Sorry to bother you Ms Walsh,” he started as he continued, rummaging through the pages, “We just need you to look at some photos see if…” he stopped as he looked up at you, the words dying on his tongue.
Who is she? He thought. He looked to the side of the door at the number. 242, well he had the right house.
“Are you okay?” you asked him, he looked thoroughly confused.
“Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t expecting a beautiful woman to come to the door,” he stammered out, which you thought was cute but then again, was he calling your grandmother unattractive? He seemed to know what you were thinking and quickly corrected himself, “Not that your grandmother isn’t but y-you are,”
Realisation hit you. This was the agent that your grandmother was telling you about. When he turned around presumably for help from his partner, you took that time to check him out to see what the fuss was about.
To say you didn’t enjoy the sight in front of you would have been the biggest lie you told since you told your math teacher that you couldn't do your homework because your pet goldfish had a midlife crisis and decided to swim away with all of your textbooks.
Your eyes quickly returned to their previous position when his head began to turn back towards you.
“She’s just in the kitchen,” you said, lazily gesturing over your shoulder, “Do you want to come in for some coffee?” you asked them with a smile.
Alden opened his mouth to reply but his partner beat him to it, “That would be great, thank you,” he said passing Alden but not without patting him on the back. Alden followed you through the door, gently closing the door behind him and then following you towards the kitchen. As he did, he lingered behind, his eyes tracing over your figure, he was so lost that he almost let out an audible groan but your grandmother caught sight of him.
“Oh, Agent Parker, what a wonderful surprise,” she greeted as she came into the little dining area. Her hand patted her hair to make it look as good as possible.
Alden cleared his throat before responding with a nod, “Uh yeah, we just had some photos for you to look at,”
“I’ll help in any way I can,” she smirked, fiddling with the neckline of her shirt. You groaned, your face hiding itself in your hands.
Alden smiled awkwardly before placing the pictures on the table, spreading them out so each photo could be seen, “Do you recognise any of these people?” he asked, mainly to your grandmother because she was the one who lived here.
Your grandmother leaned in, purposefully close to Alden as she studied the photos. Your discomfort was evident on your face as you looked away momentarily, your eyes landing on the other agent. He seemed to be enjoying his partner’s discomfort and evidently yours.
Your eyes moved back to the photos when your grandmother said that she didn’t recognize anyone. Your eyes skimmed the photos and you did in fact recognize a few people in them, albeit slightly due to the quality of the pictures and the fact that they look like they were taken in the dark.
Your finger tapped the one closest to you first, “This is Jade, Sarah’s former college roommate and best friend,”
Alden scrunched his eyebrows and turned to look at you, “Are you sure? I know the pictures aren’t great,”
You pointed to the handbag that the figure was holding, “That is a Louis Vuitton. Jade got it a couple of months ago and she couldn’t wait to rub it in everyone’s faces,” Your fingers then hovered over the other picture, “This one is strange because it looks like Jade’s ex-boyfriend, Connor from college. They broke up because of her obsession with Sarah’s boyfriend,”
The two agents exchanged glances as if you had just given them a piece of the puzzle but that was ridiculous right? Jade was a stuck-up bitch, but she wouldn’t kill her best friend for a man… would she?
“Thank you,” Alden said, his eyes returning to you for as he began to pick up the photos. You notice how his gaze seemed to always linger on you, a little longer than his partner or your grandmother. She, of course, noticed this too considering she wouldn’t stop undressing him with her eyes.
After he collected everything, him and his partner slowly walked towards the door with you close behind to escort them out. They opened the door but stopped on the porch. Alden seemed to want to say something and it looked as though he was trying to talk himself into it.
“I hope you get who did it,” you smiled softly.
“We will,” the younger agent promised as he began to walk down the steps but stopped when he realised Alden wasn’t following him.
“There’s a uh… pastry shop, not far from here I want to try, do you know if it’s any good?” he asked finally after a couple of minutes of silently arguing with himself. Another argument started about how lame that starter was.
“Sugar & Spice Delights?” you asked with a small smile on your face, you nodded because you actually frequent there, “Uh yeah, it’s a great little shop, ask for Rhea and tell her (y/n) sent you, she may give you the friends and family discount” you said with a smirk.
“Or maybe you could accompany me,” he replied without missing a beat. His eyes closed and his head dropped. Why was he messing this up so bad?
You made a sound as if you were thinking about it and what come to mind was the fact that your grandmother seemed to like him a lot and it seemed wrong to say yes, no matter how much you wanted to, “Oh umm,” you paused looking over your shoulder when you heard footsteps approaching. Your grandmother of course and you were starting to feel bad, especially when she started to look at you disapprovingly.
“If you don’t say yes, I am going to have to disown you,” she said, causing you to lean slightly away from her, your eyebrows moving up towards your hairline.
You turn back to Alden with a small smile that only seemed to get bigger when you uttered the word “yes,”
Alden was beyond happy that you said yes, but also really surprised, especially considering the age gap. Over the course of your next few dates, you kept reassuring him that his age was anything but a concern for you, in fact it was kind of a turn on. In fact, you used the word experienced.
A month into your relationship, he wanted to show you just how experienced he really was. And he really was experienced. He knew exactly where to touch you at the right moment to have your toes curling and reaching for things that weren’t even there.
Pretty soon, after all your date to the little bakery, Alden qualified for the friends & family discount even when you weren’t there, much to the delight of his team. You got to meet them properly three months in which is exactly how long it took for Torres’ teasing to die down.
You were immediately bombarded with questions about you and what was Alden like outside of work, although, they mostly referred to him as Parker. Alden had told you about the teasing that Nick had put him through about you and your grandmother and he even asked if she was still interested in him, so you decided to have a little fun with him.
“Well, she always did have an eye for quality,” you said with a smirk, he was about to reply with some silly remark, but you beat him to it, “You should probably take notes, maybe you could learn something,”
Tim and Jess were in stitches, Alden was stifling his laughter but his amusement was evident by the smirk on his lips.
Once he got over the initial shock of what you just said, he walked over and held his hand out for you to shake, “Well played,” he said as you put your hand in his.
Pretty much after that, you became one of them. You and Nick actually got on really well and aside from Alden, he was the one you spent most time with and occasionally Victoria when Jimmy and Jess needed some alone time.
But most of your spare time was spent with Alden either on cute little dates, or tangled in the sheets and each other’s limbs or as you called it… Heaven.

Stand By Your Man
A/N Inspired by the song ‘Stand By Your Man’ and a vanilla custard filled choux bun I had recently that I can’t stop thinking about. Apologies for any mistakes :)
Summary: After Parker, who your beginning to develop a crush on, discovers your hidden talent, you go undercover at a country bar to find a suspect.
Word Count: 2391
Tumblr media
____________________________________________
You’d regretted revealing your hidden talent to Alden Parker the minute it had slipped from your lips. It was a moment of weakness on your part. You had initially rejected the agent as Gibbs’ replacement, you told yourself it was because he was too cheery and not as professional as Gibbs, but you knew that your resentment for Parker was, in reality, the manifestation of your sadness at Gibbs leaving and Parker taking his place meant that he really was gone. However, after a particularly hard case which ended with Parker offering you a vanilla custard filled choux bun from a bakery he had found on the drive back to the NCIS building. Your resentment had completely crumbled and amongst the praises for the pastry, in what you believe was a sugar induced moment of insanity, you had confessed your talent for singing to the older agent as a type of olive branch, who had been trying to encourage you to divulge a secret talent to him for the entirety of the case. The grin on his face was what immediately triggered a sense of regret within you, wishing that the pastries’ ability to loosen your lips hadn’t worked and it was that same grin that reignited that flame of regret within you 4 weeks later, when Parker told you that you would all be going undercover at a Country Bar. It was that grin that told you everything you needed to know in a matter of microseconds.
It was that grin that you could still see now as you were standing, dressed in a pair of jeans, a white flowy bell sleeved top and cowboy boots, being handed a microphone to go and sing on the stage of your suspect’s favourite hangout.
Parker had argued that it was imperative that the team could see every face within the bar in order to find the suspect and that the only way to truly do that was to have someone on stage and the rest of the team sat around the bar. You, on the other hand, had not felt the same and had rolled your eyes while Torres sniggered at your annoyance, promising to film the whole thing so he could torture you with it, following Parker’s divulgence of your talent to the rest of the team as well as his plan to catch the suspect. You had silently thanked McGee for not mentioning that he had in fact already heard you sing, (after an evening out drinking with him, DiNozzo and Bishop had led you all to a karaoke bar, which in turn had led to some very questionable renditions of many, many songs), not wanting to have to explain your karaoke too.
But as hard as you tried you couldn’t really be mad at Parker and truthfully you did think that Parker’s plan made sense, it was subtle, you could find the suspect without him realising you were looking for him and keep his attention away from whoever ended up grabbing him in the crowded bar.  Over the past four weeks you had softened to Parker, accepting that while he was replacing Gibbs in terms of his job, he was so different from him that he could never take his place. You liked to think of it as a different place, just as good as Gibbs but in different ways. Unfortunately for you during the past four weeks as well as coming to terms with Gibbs’ absence and Parker’s arrival, you had started to develop a crush on your boss. A crush you were almost certain he didn’t reciprocate.
You took a breath and shook your hair slightly before returning your mind back to your current situation, thanking the man who had handed you the microphone before the band began to play the song you had chosen to sing. As the music started to flow to your ears you calmed, the familiarity of the feeling settling in. It’s not that you hate singing in front of people, it’s more that you would rather just gouge your eyes out than have to sing in-front of your co-workers and boss/crush.
‘Sometimes its hard to be a woman’, the words flowed out your mouth effortlessly. As you continued, you shifted your focus from the words you were singing to the faces in the bar, scanning each one for the face of your suspect. However, after a few lines, you realised that there was no way you could get a clear read on half the faces in the bar without getting closer.
So, despite the resistance of every fibre of your being, you stepped of the stage and started to walk around the bar as you continued to sing. At first it was just a brush of your hand to someone’s shoulder so they would lift their gaze and you could see their face, but after a minute of singing you began to get bolder. As you continued to move around the room you found yourself sliding on the edge of the booth McGee was sat at, who like you had been searching for your suspect, and found yourself wrapping your arm over his right shoulder, directing the words of the song at him, and leaning your head on his other shoulder. This elicited a chuckle as he laughed softly at you. If you were being forced to do this, you were at least going to have some fun.
After moving away from McGee, you continued to make your way through the packed bar, the eyes of all the patrons now focused entirely on you, the words of the song falling effortlessly from your lips, and unbeknownst to you wowing the entire bar full of people, including your team. Unlike Jess, who had never doubted your ability to sing, Torres was in utter disbelief, still holding his phone recording you like he had promised, but now with the knowledge that there was very little to tease you with. McGee, on the other hand, was not surprised by your beautiful singing at all, after all, he had heard you sing drunk all those years go with him, Tony and Ellie and he knew if you sounded that good while that drunk, and you had all been very drunk, that sober your voice must be angelic.
Meanwhile, Parker’s gaze had stopped moving around the bar and instead fixed itself on you. When you had admitted to him that you could sing he had thought you would instantly take it back, and from the look on your face at the time he could tell you regretted it. He knew that you, like Torres, were having trouble adjusting to him taking over from Gibbs, but over the past few weeks both of you had been getting on very well. So well in fact, that he had developed somewhat of a crush on you, however, he also convinced himself that being your boss, as well as much older than you, made this crush entirely irresponsible and wrong, besides he was almost certain that you didn’t reciprocate it. In this moment though, he couldn’t take his eyes off you. He had been stunned into silence when he had first seen your outfit as you ran into the elevator which he had just gotten into, as you were about to go to the bar. The words he wanted to say, that you looked beautiful, had sat at the back of his throat and instead he opted for a smirkish smile as he told you he liked the outfit, to which you had rolled your eyes gently while chuckling softly, trying to hide the flush of your cheeks at the fact he had even commented on the outfit.  Now Parker was watching as you continued to move around the bar in his direction, admiring your voice and attempting to ignore the way his heart beat faster when you walked over to him as you sang, wrapping an arm over his shoulders as you placed yourself on his lap.
After singing a few lines of the song sitting on Parker’s lap, which was something you knew you would regret instantly the moment you did it, you forced yourself to get up and continue to search the bar as you sang. You were surprised for several reasons when you had sat on Parker’s lap. Firstly, you surprised yourself that you would do something that bold, but more importantly to you, you were surprised by Parker’s reaction, he had smiled at you, laughed softly and placed his arm around your waist, holding you close to him. An action you were sure had caused your heart to stop beating momentarily.
As you continued to sing you tried to shake the thoughts of Parker out of your mind, convincing yourself that he, like you, was undercover, he was just playing the role. Suddenly though you were snapped out of your spiralling as you caught sight of the man you had been searching for, who was staring at you. The suspect was sitting with another man, also looking directly at you. You moved over to them trying not to rush and maintain your cover.
As you reached them, you placed your hand on the man’s shoulder, turning to make eye contact with Nick, McGee, Jess and Parker, as you empathised the words of the song, ‘stand by your man’. You had chosen the song for this specific reason, that when you found the suspect, it would be easy to tell the team where he was. That and the fact that it was a short song and you didn’t want to have to sing longer than necessary.
After receiving nods from all the team, you removed your hand from his shoulder and walked back to the stage, with only a few lines left to sing. As you finished singing and the room burst into applause, the team quickly moved towards the man, their actions hidden from him by the applause, before grabbing and arresting him. The rest of the bar remained mostly oblivious thanks to the noise that was no being created.
You received a small rush from both the applause you received, and the relief that the suspect was now in custody. But as quickly as you had been handed the mic, you handed it back to the same man who had previously given it to you and rushed to the entrance of the bar to catch up with your team. As you left the bar and got outside the first thing you saw was Tim and Jess, who were putting the suspect into one of the cars, but you couldn’t see Parker or Torres. That was until you felt an arm wrap around your shoulders as Nick began to tell you how he was never actually going to tease you, which he definitely was going to do, and sang your praises. Eventually after he came down from the apparent high he was on after you singing, he jogged over to McGee, still giggling slightly, while you just shook your head and smiled.
Not a second later did Parker join you, after having disappeared somewhere, retuning with a box under his arm as he clapped softly, causing you to laugh and blush rather furiously.
‘When you told me you could sing, I assumed you could carry a tune, I didn’t expect you to have the voice of an angel.’
‘Thank you’ you blushed even more at his compliment, avoiding meeting his eyes, ‘just don’t think this will be a regular occurrence, I don’t think I could handle that’ you added pointedly.
He chuckled, ‘I don’t think it’ll be that easy, now they’ve heard you sing’, he gestured to the team, who were still chatting amongst themselves, occasionally glancing over at you and Parker, ‘they are going to try and get you to every chance they get’. This caused you both to chuckle.
‘Oh god’ you groaned, ‘I hadn’t thought of that’, eliciting yet another laugh from Parker, before he moved the box he had perched under his arm and held it in front of you.
‘But since you’ll probably never be given a break from this now, I got you this’ he stated opening the lid of the box to reveal one of the same vanilla custard filled choux buns he had given you all those weeks ago when you first confessed to him your talent.
Your eyes widened in excitement upon seeing the choux bun, taking it out the box and moaning as you took a bite of it. ‘This makes it all worth it’ you smiled, content with the pastry in your hand and completely touched by the gesture.
Meanwhile, by the van the other three agents continued to watch you and Parker after giving up on just sneaking glances at the pair of you.
‘Aww’ Jess cooed as they watched Parker give you the pastry he had bought especially for you, ‘Do you think they realise how much they like each other? Or just how obvious it is?’ she then asked the two men next to her.
‘Oh they have no clue’, answered Nick immediately, smirking as he watched you both.
‘Yeah they’re oblivious. I’m pretty sure they both think the other one doesn’t fell the same’ added Tim, returning his gaze to the two agents in front of him.
‘They’re the only ones who don’t see how much they like each other; I mean it’s pretty obvious to literally anybody else’ added Nick.
‘What’s obvious?’, you asked as you and Parker had made your way over to the three agents standing in a huddle as you continued to eat the choux bun in your hand. Jess and Tim looked like deer caught in headlights, but Nick began to smirk.
‘We were just saying how oblivious people can be sometimes’, looking directly at you and Parker who were both proving his point and being entirely oblivious, adorning expressions of confusion as he then added, ‘you know like the suspect, just sitting their not realising he was about to be arrested by the five agents in the bar.’
‘Oh right’
‘Yeah, that makes sense’.
Both yours and Parker’s answers were met with small giggles and nudges as you all began to move into the cars, which once again the pair of you where oblivious to.

In the realm of TV longevity, NCIS and Law & Order are in a league of their own.
These shows aren’t just popular — they’re institutions.
While most series struggle to make it past a handful of seasons, these crime dramas remain untouchable.
But what exactly keeps them at the top? Let’s explore why these titans of television refuse to fade away.
A Formula That Stands the Test of Time
The secret to these shows’ success lies in their rock-solid formulas.
You can have great TV Fanatic content delivered right to your inbox. All you need to do is subscribe now!I consent to receiving emails and personalized ads.Subscribe
The formula was so straightforward and effective that it felt timeless from the start. You didn’t need to follow ongoing character arcs or remember what happened last week.
You could dive into any episode and instantly know where you stood. The real star was the justice system, with New York City acting as a gritty, ever-present backdrop.
However, after 20 seasons, Law & Order went off the air in 2010. It seemed that the original series had run its course.
But in 2022, it triumphantly returned, seamlessly blending familiar faces like Jack McCoy with a new generation of characters.
The revival proved the show’s formula’s staying power and ability to adapt to modern audiences while staying true to its roots.
Gibbs’ leadership, Abby’s eccentric brilliance, and the camaraderie among the agents made it more than a crime show — it felt like a family.
Fans didn’t just tune in for the mysteries; they showed up for the humor, the heart, and the sense of belonging that tied the characters together.
What both shows have in common is their consistency.
They deliver satisfying, self-contained stories with a resolution at the end of each hour. There’s comfort in knowing that no matter how chaotic the world might feel, justice will be served on your TV screen.
Characters Who Evolve Without Losing Their Essence
While Law & Order focuses more on the system than the individuals, it has still managed to create some unforgettable characters. There’s a reason Jack McCoy, Olivia Benson, and Elliot Stabler are household names.
The show’s ability to rotate its cast without losing momentum is part of its genius.
There are no overly dramatic exits or long goodbye arcs — it’s all about the cases, which remain the true stars of the show. The characters serve the justice system, not the other way around.
Gibbs, Abby, Ducky, and Tony became more than just investigators — they became part of the audience’s family.
Fans followed their journeys, celebrated their wins, and grieved their losses. The show maintained its heart even as cast members left and new ones joined.
Alden Parker stepping in as team leader brought a fresh perspective.
Reinvention Through Spinoffs
Another reason for these shows’ longevity is their ability to reinvent themselves through spinoffs.
Law & Order led the way with Law & Order: SVU, which took a more emotionally charged approach by focusing on sensitive cases.
At its heart is Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, who has become one of TV’s most iconic characters.
Benson isn’t just a detective; she’s a symbol of resilience and justice, a figure who has tackled some of the most challenging storylines on television with empathy and strength.
As creator Dick Wolf said when the show celebrated its 21st season, “She is the spark plug, the leader, the face of the show.”
With SVU now the longest-running primetime live-action series, Benson’s impact on audiences and the genre itself is undeniable.
At the same time, other spinoffs, such as Law & Order: Organized Crime, gave viewers a deep dive into the criminal mind.
Law & Order: Organized Crime, in particular, brought Elliot Stabler back into the fold with a serialized format that explored the interconnected world of organized crime.
Even short-lived series like Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Law & Order: Criminal Intent showcased the franchise’s ability to experiment with format, proving its flexibility as a storytelling powerhouse.
Not every spinoff became a cultural phenomenon, but each one added something unique to the Law & Order legacy.
Meanwhile, NCIS has its own successful slate of spinoffs, each bringing a distinct flavor to the franchise.
From the action-packed cases of NCIS: Los Angeles to the soulful charm of NCIS: New Orleans and the tropical twist of NCIS: Hawai’i, these shows have expanded the world of NCIS while staying true to its roots.
Recent additions like NCIS: Origins have also deepened the franchise’s storytelling.
And the franchise isn’t stopping there — fans are already buzzing about the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which promises to revisit two of the show’s most beloved characters as they navigate life after leaving the original series.
Spinoffs don’t just keep these franchises alive — they prove their formulas work in any setting.
Whether it’s the gritty streets of New York or the beaches of Hawai’i, these shows adapt without losing what makes them great.
Familiarity as a Strength
Their predictability makes these shows unstoppable — and yes, that’s a compliment.
You know what to expect: a body will drop, an investigation will unfold, and justice will be served by the end of the hour. That dependable structure is a gift in a world that often feels chaotic.
Amy Reisenbach, CBS Entertainment President, summed it up perfectly in an interview with The New York Times, calling NCIS “comfort food with a side of murder.”
It’s this perfect mix of reliability and intrigue that keeps audiences coming back season after season, proving that sometimes, sticking to a formula really does work.
Both shows manage to stay relevant without straying from their roots.
Whether NCIS addresses topics like cybersecurity or Law & Order takes on headline-inspired cases, they evolve with the times while maintaining the elements that make them so enduring.
They’ve built worlds that feel familiar, characters who feel like family, and stories that keep us engaged week after week.
They prove that sometimes, the best TV isn’t about flashy gimmicks or constant reinvention — it’s about sticking to what works.

All It Took
Tumblr media
alden parker x reader
This is for my southern gals
(Y/N) has always loved country music. Ever since she was a little girl, she always loved the feelings of nostalgia and warmth they have always provided for her. Whenever she has a super long day that feels as though it will never end, all she has to do is put on a bit of country music, and everything else just fades away. One of her all-time favorite artists is Dolly Parton. So when her friend and the man she’s been in love with, Alden Parker, surprised her with Dolly Parton tickets, she very enthusiastically said, “Thank you! Oh my gosh Parker, thank you!” “Of course. I know how much you love Dolly and I just wanted to say thank you for your extra help recently.” Parker replied. It’s true he wanted to thank her for her extra help not only at work, but for being a friend when he needed one.
The hug (Y/N) gave him was almost bone-crushing. It was much tighter than any other hug she had given him in the past year since he took over as team lead. Because (Y/N) is shorter than Alden, whenever they hug, her head barely touches his shoulder. He’d be lying if he said it wasn’t one of his favorite things about her. He has a lot of favorite things about (Y/N). From the way she has compassion for everyone she meets to her passion and love for her job as an NCIS agent. Or maybe it was the way she’s constantly teaching him new things. From newer slang (there is an age gap), to how to get the very last bit of soil out of the bag. Her voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “When is the concert?” (Y/N) asked, looking up to Alden through her eyelashes, still in his warm embrace. “It’s in a couple months.” Parker replied, not wanting to let her go just yet.
~time skip couple months to concert~
(Y/N) was so nervously excited. Not just the fact that she was going to a Dolly Parton concert, but also the fact that she was going with Alden Parker. At first, (Y/N) wasn’t sure what she was going to wear, but after hours and hours of looking at photos of Dolly, she decided to go with a pair of flared denim jeans, and a red, white, and blue plaid shirt that she tied up to her midriff. She styled it with a denim jacket and her brown cowboy boots. (Y/N)’s makeup was super natural. All she did was use a tinted moisturizer, some blush, mascara, a few faux freckles, and a tinted lip balm. ‘Ding!’ (Y/N)’s phone went off, and when she picked it up, it was a text from Parker, saying he was almost there. With a knock on the door, (Y/N) gave her outfit one last glance, and she made sure she had everything she needed.
“Hi.” (Y/N) said to Parker, who was dressed in jeans, a black t-shirt, and a red plaid shirt. “You look amazing, (Y/N).” said Parker, slightly breathless. “Thank you, so do you.” (Y/N) replied, with a small blush forming on her cheeks from his sweet compliment. “Are you ready milady?” Parker asked, with a small blush of his own. “Mm-hmm. Thank you again for tonight, Parker.” “Alden, and you’re welcome.” He said. “Well then, Alden…” (Y/N) said, her voice a little more deep and sultry than normal. He opened the car door for her and drove to the concert. The next 3 hours were filled with laughter, delight, and scream-singing. Mostly on (Y/N)’s part, but Alden joined in too for some. (Y/N) hadn’t felt true delight like that in a long while. Neither has Alden for that matter. But there was something about seeing (Y/N) radiate the joy she was feeling all around her, that made him fall even more in love with her than he thought possible. And he was already very much in love with her.
The drive back from the concert was filled with laughter and they talked about anything and everything. When they got to her house, neither one of them wanted to go their separate ways. So they spent the next minute in a very comfortable silence. He walked her to her door, and said, “I’m glad you had a great time tonight, (Y/N). I did too.” “I always have a good time when I’m with you, Alden.” (Y/N) wasn’t sure who leaned in first, but when their lips gently brushed across each other’s, it sent sparks through both of their bodies. And to think, all it took was a Dolly concert to make their dreams a reality.
