while looking for a tiled/repeating background for my blog i found a cool arcade carpet image and realized that the website lets you customize the colors!! so i made some for different pride flags (the rainbow is the original, unedited version) :) tried to make the major ones (some have a couple different versions bc of the color options) but for any i forgot and for those of you who use more niche labels here is the website i used. they also have other carpets if you wanna look thru 'em.

My swashbucklers: Slick and Twitch

Welcome to my first attempt at drawing anthro characters! These are two Pirate101 OCs I created to go on my pirate captain Kestrel's crew! Part of the fun of the Spiral is that you can have a TON of non-human type characters, so I've been having a bit of a field day with it.

The short version is, they're a pair of scammers who made the mistake of stowing away on Kestrel's ship and now they work for her. Long version under the cut.

Slick and Twitch are a duo of street orphans who make ends meet by begging, lying, stealing, cheating, and mugging. Every time they get caught in one town, they'll stow away on the nearest barge and skip to the next one. They're scrappy and underhanded fighters who make a lot of use of both dirty tricks and their environment, and will frequently end a fight by just running away.

Slick (left, rat, he/him) is meaner, stealthier, and better in a fight, while Twitch (mouse, right, any) is more excitable, faster, and better at tricks and distractions. They met when they were just kids when they both tried to steal the same sack of potatoes from an armada barge and got caught. They were forced to help each other to escape, and they decided to team up after that. Neither of them are exactly sure how old they are, but Slick is late-twenties ish while Twitch is barely an adult.

They got caught in one of the Skull Island Ports when they tried to rig a gambling match on one of Kestrel's crew members, and unfortunately for them, the ship they tried to stowaway on was Kestrel's. Kestrel coulda just shot them and been done with it, but that's not her style. Instead, she kinda forced them to either work for her or get thrown overboard.

They were initially happy to take the deal since it meant free room and board, but they're dirty cowards who were NOT fully prepared for the level of insanity that Kestrel drags them into. They did try to desert the first time they were in a real fight but uh. Hard to desert when the only way out of danger is back on the stupid ship. Now they're resigned to their fate and are having fun wreaking havoc across the Spiral.

In addition to both being scrappy grifters, they both have a couple extra skills up their sleeves. Slick is supernaturally perceptive--- he's got a bit of a sixth sense that helps him navigate new places, steer clear of danger, read people, and lets him dip a bit into voodoo magic. Twitch has a lot of mechanical know-how, although they prefer to dismantle things and make them malfunction than to fix and build things.

Anyways, expect more art of them soon I'm kinda in love with these losers, they're so cute and stupid (Kestrel thinks so too, which is why she opted to keep them around).

Retainers are usually kept in a case when not in use. People often write their names on their retainer cases in case they get lost, especially if they're still in school where it's easy for the case to fall out of a backpack/pocket or get forgotten in the cafeteria. Name on the case would be an easy ID.
