Fred Dukes in Age of X-Man

Age of X-Man was a pretty wild concept that, IMO, didn't reach its full potential. Viewed as something of a placeholder for HoxPoX, it's pretty easy to forget (and Nate Grey is such a clown.)

X-Tremists, however, was something of a diamond in the rough. It put characters whose sexuality or body was in some way queer (uh, except for an OC super fascist) and made them deeply repressed and lonely cops. Cops that deal exclusively with cases of people breaking the forced ace/aro laws and brainwashing. By the end they realised they were living in a broken world and reclaimed their identities, except for Fred Dukes who'd never really had one to begin with besides 'fat guy.' More knowledgeable people than I have broken it down, but showing fat people as people who love and lust the same as everyone is an important part of combatting fatphobia

It's quite rare for an event mini to have long term effects on a character, but Fred J Dukes continued his growth in a place of acceptance all through Krakoa. He's much larger in From The Ashes, which is true to life, though I hope he isn't regressed in other ways. He's not having a good time right now, the poor guy.
