Kindof an old wip this one too, used to fix in my head the relationship between Charybde and his father, head of the clan and main Captain, Agamemnon.
More lore below v
In between, I changed a few aspects;
- Agamemnon is a Leviathan, this terrifying breed of Maormer that are half-beast in demeanor. He his extremely large, robust and lethal, but he has a very wise and kind demeanor to his people.
- Due to his very old age, Agamemnon acts with his clan like all of them are his children. It is, in fact, half-true; he has 36 of them, equal in daughters and sons. Being ~800yrs old some of those 36 children have their own lineage now.
- Charybde is the last, the dearliest of them. Born of true love instead of necessity (females pick their males when wanted and needed), Charybde has a special place in his father's heart, so dear he chose to never have an other spawn if it's not with his adored wife, Cérulée. She left, chosen by Orgnum himself to be part of his crew, and Agamemnon respected this decision. Charybde shall be the last.
- Due to his position as both Captain and simple male, Agamemnon usually has few but kind interactions with his spawns. The clan organizes to raise children all together - except for Charybde, that Agamemnon raised partly himself.
- Charybde being half-blood with such a strong and powerful breed, he grows fast, looks intimidating although he's still a child... and many, many expect of him things he's scared he could never atteign.
- Charybde is a sweet person with his kind, and he admires his father for the calm, the cleverness he shows at all time. It would be easy to figure this monster of a maormer to be prompt to rampage, but Agamemnon's taste for violence is as developped as his taste for subtility. With so many spawns, parenting became a second nature.
- Agamemnon is at first a war machine that grew terrifying by how responsabilities shaped in him such an ambivalent temper. Foes fear him and his crew, where each mer answers as one and respect is absolute for the Captain. The Captain is loyal to his mers, careful, just, but shows barely no pity for foes that do not respect their own men first.
- Charybde his a snake-caller by birth. Something that had disappeared in the Torve-Augure clan - the last being his father. Being a snake-caller means you share a natural strong bond with those forces of nature. Agamemnon has a twin snake brother called Adale, a forever hungered beast so colossal it has to eat whales. Charybde has one with a much smaller snake called Scyla, a sea viper, which he loves as his twin sister. Their bond gives him magical surges and snake aptitudes like molting his skin.
- Agamemnon has been to war for long centuries. The last assault on Sunhold gave him a large scar that his snake powers never truely absorbed. He's slowly dying, Adale being tortured by the slow decay of his twin brother and soulmate. Adale's specie is not supposed to survive this long, they keep growing as they feed and their appetite fits their length. Without Agamemnon raiding isles and going on front, Adale lacks food, his nature of a predator becomes a danger for maormer themselves. Charybde is expected to commune with Adale, but Adale is obsessed by its hunger.

The Dehumanization of Achilles in Lions & Men
Lions & Men: The Musical is a 10-Episode WIP that adapts the Trojan War into a sci-fi/cyborg setting A lot of Lions & Men is about the horrors of war, and how far people are willing to take it. One of the ways this is portrayed is how people in power treat their best soldiers.
A HUGE theme in lions & men is the dehumanization of Achilles. Most soldiers modify their bodies and become cyborgs later in life, whereas Achilles (as a demigod) was born cyborg, leaving him feeling isolated.
This isolation is further built on when he joins the war and the majority of other soldiers don’t want to be friends with him, due to him immediately becoming every commander’s favorite. Despite being their so-called “favorite”, Menelaus, Agamemnon, and Odysseus all take advantage of Achilles’ demigodhood, either using it for combat, not caring about if he gets hurt, or (attempting) to experiment on him.
Achilles hates Agamemnon and Menelaus for this (mostly Agamemnon), and holds a grudge towards Odysseus. Note, NONE OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE VILLAINS. There are no villains in L&M, because it’s supposed to be about how every person can be both right and wrong.
Achilles has lots of foils, one of which being Diomedes. Diomedes loves all of his commanders and is scarily loyal to the Achaean Army, due to him being part of the army for as long as he can remember (I’ll make more in-depth posts abt Diomedes soon bc I love him.)

Pondering a new character…. (some of this has the potential to change since I thought of him like 2 days ago)
Agamemnon Pallas, a Reserved Tutor (subject to change), is a Greek man in his mid-50s who fled to the Neath over 20 years ago in an attempt to escape the grief of losing his wife. He still keeps elements of her with him, as she absolutely adored flowers. He’s a well-studied anthropologist, but only uses his knowledge to do his own projects and tutor students at both Benthic and Summerset (while occasionally stealing cool artifacts from the latter). After falling into the world of Revolutionaries for awhile in his younger days, getting shrapnel blown into his face from a bomb mishap led him to taking a step back- he still agrees with the cause, he’s just far less active. He tends to speak both quickly and quietly, with a Greek accent, and refers to every friend/acquaintance he perceives to be <35 as “kiddo”. He has shit vision, ADHD, vitiligo, and sectoral heterochromia (gray/brown) in one eye. Betrothed to @torturingpeople ‘s Dr. Harper by us, but doesn’t know it yet.
Some more random details: he has a scar from getting shivved in a fight with a phrenologist . he’s an incredible cellist . he has the weakest alcohol tolerance you’ll ever see . he runs cold
For the moment he’s an NPC; that may or may not change.

oc x canon ramble jumpscare
since this is my blog, i will say that i am big on oc x canon shipping (you'd know this if you were around for when i was still insanely brainrotted about doodle world. i still am but not as much) and so i come to say that i am making Agamemnon from the dress to impress lore and my oc Rose kiss. ya that's. all . their ship name is Rosamemnon
to give a quick rundown on Rose: she's a cosmic entity, who embodies the Lynx constellation, who stuffed herself into a human form in order to be able to study the things around her more intimately. in the DTIverse i guess she'd be one of Lana's regular clients which is how she gets wrapped up in all the things that happen in the lore as a patron. she beefs with Agamemnon because they both draw from the moon as a source of power and Rose doesn't like sharing (see Agamemnon being called upon and turning the moon red during Lina's transformation, and Rose being related to the moon by embodying some of its traits)
their whole relationship is basically enemies to lovers and like the old married couple trope too but in fantasy. don't b surprised if you see ship art of these two soon teehee

The pronunciation of your name is funny to me since when I first saw your username I was already so obsessed with greek mythology, so my brain immediately wanted to say it like Agamemnon. But then I started giving myself crap for it like “not everything has to be a greek mythos reference……it’s probably not pronounced like that”. And now I’m here like man………………..I had it right the first time………………..
Funny thing is that the name is based on a childhood OC. I didn't even know about Agamemnon when I first made it my online username waaaaay back when. But yeah, the pronounciation is basically the same
