𝐎𝐎𝐂;
      Friendly reminder that Aegon and Rhaenys named their son after their own ship name. That being said, even though I am fully open to multi-shipping, even in AUs, I admit it’s tricky to get into his head in a sense where he loves someone else other than Rhaenys and/or Visenya. It’s easier in his survival verses where both are long dead, and he has ‘moved on’ past that part of his life, but in verses where they are alive, even as just his sisters, it’s tricky to write him out as falling in love/loving another and still keep him as how I portray him as Aegon at his core. Not impossible though, so doesn’t mean I won’t do it, but it needs... extensive plotting.

Tasty little Scemma (Scott x Emma) idea. So, in the universe where everything is perfect, Emma is married to Scott and is a child psychologist (Canon, I'll add citations later). So that's something established prior to this idea. So...au? Modern day, no powers, slice of life shit.
Scott just lost Jean or maybe just divorced her, I don't know. But anyway, he has Nathan and Rachel to care for and it's obvious that they're not handling it well. They're grieving, lashing out, lost. They're young too, Rachel's like 7, Nathan's barely 5, they miss the constant presence of their mom.
So Scott finds a therapist, does for his kids what he should've done himself or what someone should've done for him. It's Emma, high praised child psychologist, apparently very well with kids and helping them through their issues.
And Scott, at first, isn't interested at all in finding love again. He's guarded and almost cold to Emma when they first meet. But he melts around Rachel and Nathan, is just so soft to his two little ones.
Emma finds him attractive immediately but focuses on her patients, not her feelings. She makes good progress on the kids, getting them to open up and giving them coping mechanisms, bringing Scott's attention to some things he could do to help them. And after almost a few years, she barely sees the kids in her office but her and Scott have been in contact a lot, she asks him out on a date.
It's perfect, a little awkward, a little stilted, but she enjoys it. She even is honest with him about why she chose to be a psychologist and not a teacher like she dreamed. She has five little girls at home, her quintuplets, that she had almost 4 years ago. She and their dad didn't have a good relationship and she doesn't want Scott to think he has to be their dad. But she's honest about her life, about being a former stripper, deciding to leave her family's wealth behind. She's really in love with this guy.
Scott is scared. He's not been in love since Jean. And he's worried about his kids, about what they might think or the setbacks it might cause to see him moving on. But he listens to his friends and accepts the date. He laughs for the first time in a while, not something related to his kids. He jokes and quips. He's a gentleman. He doesn't judge but he doesn't open up all the way yet. He tells her about losing his parents, about his brother getting adopted and not him, about finding out his dad was alive and had another son. About loving Jean with everything. He tells her about being scared to move on. And she understands.
The kids are fine with it. The quintuplets are a bit miffed at the playdate they have to introduce the kids. They prefer each other, not new playmates. But after a while, Esme and Sophie are playing with Nathan. Celeste and Irma are clinging to Scott, laughing as he lifts them both with one arm. Phoebe is sitting beside Rachel, just watching her color and maybe helping once and a while.
It's not perfect. It's not a seamless transition. They fight. The kids fight. They feel too much change, too many emotions. The Cuckoos want to be alone with each other again, not wanting to split their mother's time. Rachel doesn't want a new mom. Nathan doesn't want more sisters.
But eventually it mellows out. And it's almost paradise. It's Emma's perfect world. Successful and helping kids. Married in a beautiful gown to a man who doesn't focus on her body, on her almost exposed cleavage, but instead on her feet in her heels, offering to take them off because they might be hurting her feet.
And, like lunatics, they have another kid. Well into the future. The kids are all almost grown, in high school. They have Megan. And that's enough for them. Some joke they might have twins or maybe more. But Emma is happy. She's content with this life. Watching her girls bond with Megan, watching Rachel encourage her to walk, watching Nathan rant about his day to a toddler just wanting to color.
It's her perfect reality.

I saw your bridgerton au idea with Tony and Steve as Daphne and Simon and thought it was brilliant. But, have you ever considered the angst potential with Steve, tony, and Bucky as John Stirling, Francesca, and Michael Stirling???
Oh my god but that's so saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad 🥺
In all honesty, it's probably not something I would ever actually put to paper simply because I don't usually enjoy breaking up a couple in a fic that I genuinely like and ship to replace it with a different ship (I think the pop star Tony verse is the only one I've ever done that on), but it's fun to imagine!
I'm assuming you listed the characters with their counterparts in respective order, but I could see it either way tbh! But! If I was writing Steve as John and Bucky as Michael hmmm... I think it'd start like this:
Steve and Tony would have met at Lady Danbury's ball (or the equivalent of Lady Danbury in this verse). Tony has 0 interest in falling in love, all he wants is to tinker, but he does want to do his duty by his family and marry during his first season, especially with his older sister, Kate, now in her second season and not showing any signs of finding an alpha. Unfortunately, he overhears an alpha during the ball discussing steam locomotives and just being Absolutely Wrong about them, so he steps in and schools the entire group of alphas on how trains actually work. They are not impressed, Tony abruptly realizes that he's scared off a whole slew of potential suitors, and flees outside where Steve finds him and tells him that he'd thought Tony's lecture both informative and enormously entertaining.
Tony might have had 0 interest in falling in love, but he knows enough to recognize it when he sees it, and he falls hard for Steve. They're married at the end of the season and have just arrived at Steve's home in the countryside--complete with a newly built forge for Tony--when they receive a missive from Steve's adoptive brother, Bucky.
Bucky would be a military officer, who'd just been discharged after losing his arm. Steve immediately opens his home up to him, forgetting to check with Tony that it's alright (fortunately, it is). Bucky arrives in the middle of the night, happens to meet Tony, who can't sleep, and falls head over heels for the sleepy omega muttering equations to himself. He's just getting ready to flirt with Tony, assuming that he's a servant, but Steve comes downstairs to collect his wayward husband, and Bucky has a moment of "of course he's Steve's."
Several years pass, and Bucky ends up staying at the estate instead of finding a home in London. But there's a fire in the nearby village. Both Bucky and Steve go to help; only Bucky makes it out alive. Steve is killed trying to rescue one of the villagers when the house collapses.
Tony is devastated. Bucky is too, and in his grief (and no small part of guilt for being happy that Tony is no longer wed), he flees to the continent for the greater part of the next five years. He returns eventually because Tony has been doing an excellent job of taking care of the earldom in his absence, but he's not actually the earl and there are things that Bucky needs to take care of. He's dismayed to find that he still has feelings for Tony, but he's even more dismayed to learn that Tony has decided to find another alpha now that so many years have passed since Steve's death.
But if Tony is ready to find love again, then why not Bucky?

Discord Highlights: Bilbo Gamgee
From a discussion on 4/28/23
meg is me:
Headcanon for no reason that Bilbo Gamgee is like my own bby cousin who spoke zero words until he was like 2 and a half and then suddenly decided to talk one day and turns out he had been building quite the vocabulary 😂
InvisibleWashboard:
That goes well with our previously established chaos gremlin lore, I think.
meg is me:
is baby bilbo autistic. Maybe. Yes.
InvisibleWashboard:
Yo, so for some reason for YEARS I have thought Pippin's wife is autistic. Don't know where that came from or why, but it's firmly stuck in my head.
meg is me:
Little bilbo gets it into his curly little head that dwarves WILL come to his house one day and he's always watching for them Gimli and Legolas come for a visit one time Bilbo goes WILD with excitement IT'S TIME that it is one dwarf and an elf and not 13 and a wizard bothers him not a trifle
Me:
Bilbo swiftly gets himself into a wrestling match with Gimli
InvisibleWashboard:
And Legolas and Gimli definitely take him on a mini adventure while they're visiting.
Writing Valkyrie:
He asks Gimli about his beard.
Me:
*Mean Girl voice* “Oh my GOSH, Bilbo, you can’t just ask people why they have beards!”
Writing Valkyrie:
He wants to know for when he has his own beard! Gimli is like, "Um, lad, I don't know if you'll have a beard." But still teaches him anyways..
Me:
Where’s that headcanon post about the Brandybucks being the only hobbits who can grow even a little bit of facial hair, and Merry is inordinately proud that he has three chin hairs he’s gotta shave every day??
InvisibleWashboard:
Estella absolutely makes fun of him relentlessly for this.
Writing Valkyrie:
He treats 'em with the same importance and respect as the three hairs Galadriel gave Gimli.
meg is me:
Little bilbo asks to see the map of The Mountain and the key and everything and Gimli is like.... here's a Gondor map? And bilbo is like YES but you gotta put a dragon on it and Gimli is like I borrowed this from aragorn I can't deface it and Legolas is like I personally will draw you a dragon little hobbit child
Legolas can't draw
InvisibleWashboard:
Legolas not being able to draw is giving me fits.
meg is me:
I imagine little Bilbo being adamant that he is BILBO And he wants Bilbo's adventure When he leaves the house he forgets his handkerchief on purpose just so he can say he forgot it 😂 He loves Gimli because Dwarves are essential to The Bilbo Story He hears Legolas is from Mirkwood and he is OVER THE MOON
Me:
This is 100% in keeping with Tolkien’s own epilogue (in which all the Gamgee kids are nearly carbon copies of their namesakes) (Except for Frodo Gamgee, who is a carbon copy of Sam)
Windmill to the Stars:
Frodo simply cannot be copied
meg is me:
Elanor is more like Frodo than her brother is
Me:
this is why she’s Frodo’s favorite in the Magnolia AU
meg is me:
Help i am becoming obsessed with autistic!Bilbo Gamgee
InvisibleWashboard:
No help, just encouragement in your obsession.
Windmill to the Stars:
Now we all have our favorite bbys XD
meg is me:
He can RECITE "there and back again" Or at least large portions of it
Bilbo jr wants to be a spider killer but Elanor hates killing things and he refuses to make his sister sad
"Dad" "Yes, lad?" "Dad i dont think I want to kill a spider" "You don't have to, son" "You did." does sam admit the spider might still be alive
Me:
no. that just makes it worse
Windmill to the Stars:
Bilbo gets to kill spiders once Elanor marries and leaves Bag End
chaosandwhatnot:
The days before her wedding, he would constantly look at the spiders with narrowed evil eyes and tell them that it is only a matter of time
meg is me:
Becomes a Ghostbuster
Spiderbuster
InvisibleWashboard is @invisiblewashboard, Writing Valkyrie is @writingvalkyrie, Windmill to the Stars is @windmilltothestars, chaosandwhatnot is @grondds-and-roses, and meg is me does not have tumblr :-3

warning for grief, death, seclusion, angst, and derealization/dislocation (not sure if it fits, but I think it does, better be safe than sorry)
I need to stop coming up with aus that I'm probably never gonna get the chance to write but
- modern/non-royalty au where maria is the daughter of famous (really famous) film "director" (he usually just stands around and everybody else ends up doing the work) Jack. she's been hidden away from the public eye since she was born, homeschooled and , until she was twenty, lived with her siblings.
- everybody else seems to be going about their daily life, yknow, until... gwen dies.
- and it shatters everyone.
- their father is sobbing. Jamie's lost, staring blankly at the casket of his twin, crying quietly, his other half. Lorena's screaming, throwing up, babbling. Maria is.... silent.
- she stays silent, quiet. As if she's in a trance, as if she's seeing nothing, hearing nothing. In another world.
- (she wants to be in another world, a world where her sister is alive, where she's six and her sister is afraid of the thunderstorms and they're together, hugging, telling stories. she wants to be in that world.)
- at age twenty-one, the media slams her, the blonde ice queen, the heartless sister, the terrible, no good daughter who couldn't force a tear out her eye on her littlest sister's funeral.
- articles are written. Maria impulsively reads every one, not skimming for a moment. She hangs on every word, every rumor.
- she needs to know, if this is real or not. It doesn't feel so.
- over the course of five years, five years of what feels like everyone moving on, flourishing, Maria falls apart. She decomposes.
- she's a reculse who stays in all day, not going outside for even groceries. She lives in an apartment away from her family. She doesn't talk to them. At all.
- she's not completely alone, however, she's got her childhood pet cat Colonel Snuggles and her birds that wish her good morning everyday.
- and, you know, maybe if she pretends Gwen's alive enough, then it'll make everything ok. Maybe if she beings breakfast to an empty seat everymorning it'll be ok. Maybe if she talks to gwen a little more, it'll make her alive again.
- she hasn't visited her grave since the funeral. Hasn't seen the body, ever.
- is she really dead?
- (she is)
- Maria is perfectly content on living like this, sees no point in doing anything, being anything. she's fine with this.
- sometimes, she writes songs. About birds and dreams and faraway places. Places Gwen would go onto when she's gone (well. she's already gone but-)
- one day, however, Colonel Snuggles yowls with on his might, and suddenly, when Maria opens her door, shaking, trembling, she's met with her new neighbor.
- his name is Beckett. A single father who's the member of every parent group there is. Hes reliable and honest and a tad brutal when she catches him off-guard.
- after a few weeks of knowing him, of accidently sharing things, he frowns. Saddens. And, pulls her into a hug.
- Beckett, gentle as ever, he invites her to.. therapy. Group therapy.
- Maria goes.... because... um... well.
- (gwen would want this, wouldn't she? And, Maria... Shes missed the sunshine on her skin. She missed talking to people. She missed-)
- she goes.
- its an odd group of people: the mother of one of the sons she was supposed to marry, Mrs Isolde, a nurse named Asa, a girl named Renée, a loudmouthed gardener who seemed to only be here for the free gluten-free muffins than anything else (Saffron, his dumb name, and Maria found him quite annoying...), and a twitchy nineteen year old named Monika (who Saffron supported at every opportunity). Between both Maria and Beckett's entrance, it was seven people in a circle.
- and they were all looking at her.
- oh, no.
- Maria used to love her siblings' attention on her as she sang her heart out, childish concerts where gazes were glued to her perfermance... now, as a freshly twenty-six with no prospects over than living the rest of her days on a hefty trust fund, it doesn't feel so good.
- Maria stammered,
- cursed under her breath,
- and she shook her head wildly. "Um.. can I get a moment?" She asked timidly.
- "no," the supposed leader, Saffron, says, deadpan. "If you don't answer now, I'm afraid to say you're kick-"
- "Saffron!" A woman cuts in. The real leader. "Sorry 'bout him. You give him five minutes of being in charge and suddenly..."
- saffron pouts, sitting back in his seat, crossing his arms.
- She shakes her head, laughing, before offering a kind smile to Maria. "You don't have to introduce yourself right now, if you're not ready."
- Maria looks at her, a warm feeling bubbling in her stomach uncomfortably. It sorta feels like just before she's about to throw up. "Thank you."
- a couple of minutes of chatter passes by before the woman (Prez, her nametag says) gets to the point.
- "I think the first exercise of today is saying the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about guilt."
- Mrs Isolde closes off even more. Monika shifts in her seat. Asa's eyebrows furrow in thought.
- "I murdered my fiance." is not what she expected to hear, especially not from Prez.
- that gets a startled laugh out of Maria. Then, suddenly, everyone's eyes are on her.
- (it reminds her of the media. It reminds her of Gwen's last stare as she asks which colleges Maria will go to. It reminds her of Mrs Isolde from so long ago. It reminds her of people watching and looking and judging. Maria can't stand it.)
- (she wants to hide again.)
- "Oh, um."
- her turn, it's her turn. She can think of a million things when she thinks about guilt. She didn't (doesn't) talk to Gwen enough. She hasn't kept in contact with her family. She doesn't deserve to. She can't finish her songs. She forgot to buy bird food when getting her groceries delivered. She accidently stepped on Colonel Snuggles' tail two days back.
- she can't say anything of that because its too pathetic and too personal and she can't get any of it off her tongue but everybody keeps looking at her and-
- "I haven't washed my hair in two weeks."
- silence.
- utter. Silence.
- "really?" A murmur from Saffron, his long dyed-green hair swishing as he shakes his head. "How the hell does it look so shiny then..."
- "good conditioner," Maria answers instantly, forgetting her worries for the moment. "Its from Switzerland."

So I said I was gonna talk a bit about one of my MH hunters and yeah.
First off, I know MH lore is very, very scarce and there's a lot of read between the lines and like The Elder Scrolls a lot of it is open to interpretation or open canon as some say so my bad if something doesn't make sense (tbh I don't care, I'm just here to have fun).
I have a few hunters and palicoes but mainly focusing on some of the main ones.
Sanaa and Ingvarr (both hunters, currently retired) had moved to the New World where they had kids, two boys.
Loke became a hunter at a pretty young age and had a significantly amazing career until he was almost killed fighting off an Alatreon. He was one of the very few survivors. His injury meant he can no longer hunt but he became a handler (not sure if handlers are only female but idc).
Jelani became a researcher. Always the animal lover and always curious he wanted to study them but he always saw them after hunters returned with crippled and near death monsters or their carcases. He wanted to get a different perspective on the monsters so he became a hunter as well to study the way they moved, behaved, fought and survived both out of combat and in combat. He vowed to never kill non-Elder Dragons if he can help it. He'll always go for the capture.
Dagny (Jelani's palico) is Hati's (Loke's palico) older sister. Both are two of Bheka's (Sanaa's palico, also retired) kittens. Tanngrisnir (Ingvarr's palico, retired) is the kittens' dad.
Sanaa retired from hunting but is now part of the botanical research team working alongside others to make potions and other healing and medicinal items. Her palico assists her still.
Ingvarr and his brother Jørgen alongside both of their palicoes (Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr respectively) are the local head blacksmiths (yeah, yeah, pretty much in par with Oracle but I always put those two as some type of craftsmen even in AUs).
Loke used to main the switch axe, great sword and the heavy bowgun.
Jelani mains the light bowgun, long sword and charge blade.
Angelus mains the dual blades, long sword and light bowgun.
Trevor mains the charge blade, switch axe and heavy bowgun.
Ginger and her wife Jasmine both main the sword and shield and the bow.
Latoya mains the lance, hammer and heavy bowgun.
Sunflower is Latoya's palico.
Ice Cream is Trevor's palico.
Aria is Jasmine's palico.
Sorceress is Ginger's palico.
Glitter is Angelus' palico.
Once while he was out gathering materials, observing monsters out in the wild and getting notes Jelani ran across a near dead Rathian in her nest nuzzling her clutch of eggs that had been destroyed. When Jela realized she was still alive he felt horrible especially when he saw Glavenus tracks all over the nest and realized what happened. So against every instinct he had he went and gathered the supplies and bandaged up the Rathian. He checked in on her every single day and brought plenty of food and medicine for her and basically nursed her back to health until she was strong enough to move again. He took to calling her Freyja and once she was healthy enough to fly he distanced himself as he wasn't sure how Freyja would react to seeing him so close now that she was able to defend herself.
Jelani has A LOOOOOT of pets and has managed to find a lot of rare endemic life. He's the guy you go to if you want a pet of your own.
Angelus and Jelani are indeed together and often hunt together. They're actually married. They married pretty young.
Every so often Jelani sees Freyja and she sees him but neither attacks the other, they just glance at each other and each time they get closer and closer. He knows where her nest is and leaves either some meat or fish for her.

hiiii show your dh ocs!! (if you want to ofc)
YES YES YES!!!!! (thank youuuuu)
They're on ToyHouse too (just Octave is hidden and Nelly you have to be logged or idk cuz I have some things to change)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm about to kill myself I was almost done with the post and then lost everything
Aldina's story contains spoilers from the last book, The Veiled Terror!
(also this is set in the AU where Jindosh lives because the denial is real, and they almost all met him at some point too omg my love for this man is showing a lot)
I have a lot to say about some of them, so left to right =>
Sybill Howlet (SH)
I'm obsessed with Sherlock Holmes too and this was a way for me to combined two things I like, even her name is a ref to Sherlock!
She's from Dunwall, she was living in the streets with her sister but they lost each other a long time ago. The Bottle Street Gang was her family (Slackjaw went to father figure to friend over time). Then, one day, Archibald (Vinz's dad (see later)) found her and got impressed by her thinking and mind, and decided to take her out of the streets and help her use her full potential. Soon enough, the Outsider took great interest into her, and started to visit her dreams and help her find little secrets about everyone. He never gave her his mark.
When the Coup occurred, she left Dunwall a few weeks, only to come back and finish her current cases then leave once again but for Karnaca this time. That's when she heard about Billie's actions and omg what a queen. The Bank Job? such a masterpiece, outstanding, amazing. She loved following her trail around the city, trying to understand what she was looking for. She met Jindosh because of this, cuz she wanted to talk to him about the break-in. She enjoys quite a lot to annoys him (and just to roast people).
Aldina/Al
Her parents were nobles/friends with Luca, but she always despised him a lot actually. She prefers women company, and that's how she found out she was lesbian. The only man she never really hated was Jindosh, because she likes the Clockwork Soldiers. Her biggest inspiration was the witches, tho. She loved going to the Conservatory and spend time with Breanna, she wanted SO MUCH to meet Delilah, to be part of the Coven, to join them!!!! it was her biggest dream. But then, what?? Corvo comes and the witches are now gone.
Old men are so BORING.
Later, when the Outsider was no more, her parents died because of the nightmares. Then, she wondered alone on the streets, and kind of managed to fix a Clockwork Sentinel because the main program and such were still in good condition. That is how and when Jindosh met her for the first time. He took her to his mansion, thinking she could be of some use, and taught her some things too. Al' likes to creep behind the walls and scares the staff by singing lullabies and sea shanties.
Everything was fine, until Corvo came back. She wanted SO BADLY to kill him, to rip off his skin, to boil him alive, for what he's done to her, to the witches, to Delilah, to her first found family, to her broken dreams. She wanted so badly to do it, then found out Jindosh cared about him. She's making a very lot of efforts to accept the fact that the man who destroyed her hopes and dreams is now part of her new family, and eventually she'll come to terms with it... many years later.
Thanks to the Void stones in her arm, she can use a little magic, but it's very complicated. Jindosh likes to call her "little mouse", and she's friend with rats. Also she steals Jindosh's stuff a lot and likes to spend time with Alex'.
Vincent/Vinz MacIntosh
Archibald MacIntosh is a private detective from Morley, after a failed attempt at the Academy. He married a tailor, who died cuz of the plague, and likes to paint too. He worked with the City Watch for some time.
As for Vinz, he got inspired by his father, but decided to become a journalist instead (not like it was less dangerous, moreover he's working with one if not the most dangerous gang in Karnaca, needless to say it worries his father a lot). Anyway, Vinz came to Karnaca a few years before the Coup, and he's more than happy to be part of this major history event. Because of his father's past and everything he was taught, he recognized Corvo quite easily, and tried his best to convince him NOT TO KILL JINDOSH. Because, yeah, Vinz is a HUGE fan of Jindosh's works.
The silvergraph? omg THIS IS SO COOL to illustrate the news or just have portraits of people! The audiograph? perfect to record things and testimonies! The Clockwork Soldiers? They're not really worse than the Tallboys back then, and they could be useful too!! for, like, THE FUCKING BLOODFLIES??? people of Karnaca have more chances to get killed by the bloodflies than the Clockwork Soldiers. It's not like Jindosh was kidnapping children to torture them and eat their organs??? He's killing INTRUDERS in his very OWN HOUSE. How are thieves treated at Dunwall Tower, I wonder?????
Anyway, Vinz likes to draw and to listen to Jindosh ranting about his inventions, trying his best to understand.
(Archibald doesn't have a clean ref but he's not really important anyway)
And then, I don't have much about them.
Nelly
She's a maid at the Clockwork Mansion, and quickly became friend with Aldina. The two of them like to prank the others and going out. I think, at some point, Nelly will leave the place and do something else. It's not like she has a bad treatment - Jindosh barely knows about her, mostly thanks to Aldina (also she's the maid I make appear when I need someone in the mansion) - it's just she wants to do something else. Going on a trip maybe. I have to think about it. Btw, she's from Serkonos, and knows many things about Corvo because he's such a legend there, everyone knows about him. She probably likes to cook.
Caleb
He's a grumpy old man from Tyvia, but he lived most of his younger years in Baleton. He went to prison, but soon entered the navy when the choice's been given to him. They weren't expecting him to last this long. Now, he's pretty strong, and would like to have a fight with the Royal Protector to test his limits. Caleb likes poetry and the sea.
Octave Hearly
He's also from Morley. Octave is into cartoon and cinema, mostly. When he heard about Jindosh's work on the silvergraph and the "moving images", his heart skipped a beat and he decided to join him and work with him on all this.

abt ur reblog abt fandom stuff, i will happily oblige to ask if ur brain gave u anymore thought of the no apocalypse junpei finds quark au? love love love aoi's role in it and i think abt it a lot so im curious! literally happy to listen to anything abt it this is my entire shit
Oh!!! Sadly I don't have much on it, no, but I do have the initial little exchange that made me think about it, a lot of times my brain just runs with a back and forth dialogue and if I like it I write it down and only if I like it a lot do I go back and write down the descriptors and rest of the context to how the scene plays out in my head but it's sadly not happened to this as fun as it would be of a scenario to think about my brain checked out after I wrote down Aoi being super embarrassing to Akane by talking about when she was a baby and bossing the two around cause they called him in to babysit for being the only one there who knows anything about tending to another living being
Okay actually I read the thing again and apparently I thought of this as an au on my version of the au where the kurashikis don't do any of the vlr or ztd stuff and just work with sois on random esper stuff after a couple years so they don't have to be on the run anymore but they still have more restrictions than other agents, so there's a little joke that's like hey do you this violates probation? And idk there could be a plot there somewhere also they're at least in their late twenties by that point if not early thirties and Junpei and Akane aren't married cause this isn't canon they don't get officially hitched as soon as they look at each other again
I guess I'll add what I actually have here, hold up I'll give the bare minimum of context so they're not talking in the void
.
Once the door cracks open and Akane gets up in a huff to greet her brother with one rant after another, none of which Junpei even directs his attention to or try to follow, he gets up from his seat carefully. Holding a little blond baby draped in a single blanket they had lying around in his arms.
Aoi already got the heads up of what's happening from Akane earlier, although she didn't sound as eloquent as usual. Tenmyouji was out and somehow came across an empty lot which somehow had a baby crying in it and somehow it wasn't just him hearing things but an actual child that was abandoned there when he went to look.
And somehow, he thought bringing the kid home with him was the most logical course of action, which Akane couldn't agree with less. There were a thousand other ways he could have helped and as far as she's concerned this is one of the worst ones.
Before they could get into an even messier argument the crying started up again and she elected to call her brother in for backup before she had a Moment™ over how irresponsible it was for her stupid fiance to come home with an infant when he has yet to successfully keep a plant alive on his own.
Despite how set off by such an unpredictable event his sister was, Aoi wasn't seeming terribly unsettled. In fact after he's done helping Akane cool off and sending her to take a breather along with a glass of water for herself, he walks up to Junpei rather giddy. Which Junpei will never get used to seeing from him. He'll much less get used to hearing him make a high pitched voice as he leans in to lend a single finger for the baby to grasp with his whole entire chubby little hand.
"Aww... where did this little guy come from?" He spends a little bit like that, Junpei also smiling fondly while Akane, from far over the corner table, silently judges them both. It's late at night and she got herself coffee instead of plain water. Then Aoi's voice goes mostly back to normal, dropping harshly to an incredulous tone as he pulls his face away like he didn't want the infant to notice the change in tone. Although, his hand doesn't move away. "Seriously though, are you guys gonna keep'em?"
"That's the idea!" "We're *not* keeping it!"
"Ah, I see what the emergency really is. You needed a babysitter while you tear each other to shreds, I mean, sure, at your service. Hey, hold like this." With that Junpei's arms are free, he does watch for what his brother-in-law to be shows him to be the correct way of properly resting them over the shoulder and then how to support the baby's neck and head with how he was doing it earlier.
"Did you give them a bath after bringing them in? Even wrapped up on this it's far too cold outside. How long's it been exactly?"
"Uh, only a couple hours, sun was already down. And no, of course I didn't, how do we even do that? You can't just put him in a shower."
"Well, no duh. You need a little plastic bathtub, eh- honestly even just the sink will do, as long as it's shallow enough to hold them up."
"How do you even know this stuff."
Akane joins them, getting close while paying attention only to what they're talking about. Unfortunately, it's Aoi who's talking.
"Mom and dad had me help dry Akane after her first baby bath–" "Aoi..." Her hand goes instinctively to pinch his arm but it stops halfway, then it stays there as she closes her eyes and inhales deeply defeated by the fact she can't shut him up this easily without risking him losing his balance.
"She was soo tiny. I don't know about being this small, but I think she was heavier."
"Aoi. Aoi. Please, shut your mouth. And I'm pretty sure you just couldn't hold as much weight back then."
"Hm. Maybe." He shrugs. Then completely takes the subject over a one hundred and eighty degree turn. "Do you think this violates probation by the way?"
It's Junpei who answers.
"That's... A fair question."
He didn't think of the legal implications of bringing a baby off the streets to his house which just so happens to be the same place his criminal mastermind girlfriend lives. In fact, he was much more hopeful she'd be all altruistic about it and how it's the right thing to do instead of getting hung up on it being an impractical solution or that he's just fooling himself wanting to skip right to raising a kid together or whatever.
"We are not on 'probation', and we're not adopting a whole human child because of an impulse *you* had, Junpei. Our technically legal position is only yet another reason we should–"
Aoi interrupts her before she can get on a roll ranting again.
"Can you guys argue at the grocery store? This thing is gonna get hungry sooner rather than later and we can't exactly feed them with instant ramen."
"I have other things on the kitchen, I'll let you know!"
"Yeah, well, but I don't figure you treat yourself to baby formula on the weekends, now do you? And a can of energetic won't do it either, jackass. Now, get moving!"

okay well anyways somebody asked me if i felt like talking about my raccoon city survivors au with mia and ethan again and the answer is YES.
> AU MINI FACTS <
- Ethan's mother died while giving birth.
- Ethan Winters and his father moved into Raccoon City when Ethan was a baby, around 3-4 years old.
- Ethan trans ftm because im trans and i said so.
- Mia trans mtf because im trans and i said so.
- Ethan & Mia are childhood friend to lovers in this au.
- Ethan's father worked for Umbrella, and Mia's father worked for the Connections while her mother also worked for Umbrella.
- Mia was born in Texas, but her family moved to Raccoon City after she was born. They still owned property in Texas, though.
- Mia & Carlos are related because I said so.
- so yknow the "dude its been three years" guy? that's their childhood friend and his name is Kyde because i said so.
- Albert Wesker Personally was ordered by Spencer to kill those scientists btw.
- a lot of this au is because i said so tbh
> AU SUMMARY <
Ethan Winters, Mia Oliviera, and Kyde Wells work together to survive six days of the Raccoon City Outbreak. In the process they uncover secrets and encounter many obstacles that just nearly cost them their lives.
> CHAR.BGROUND <
ETHAN W, SR - A scientist who worked for Umbrella. He lost his wife during the birth of his child E///// Winters. Struggling with the death of his wife and the harsh decline of his mental health, he began to experiment with viruses and vaccines in an attempt to bring his wife back, even using his child as a subject at certain points due to the child having strong genes from the mother. He acknowledged that he was a horrid father, but justified his actions by claiming he would bring back a better mother. He thought of Albert Wesker as a friend, and told him the truth of his research.
ETHAN W, JR - A quiet 14 year old that had a hard time making friends. Due to experiments from his father, Ethan is a culmination of infections and viruses that each impact him in different ways. As he grew up Ethan refrained from talking too much as to not interrupt his father's work, causing him to become selectively mute.
MIA OLIVIERA - Younger sister of Carlos Oliviera. Mia skipped a grade due to her intelligence and advanced knowledge on many things kids her age normally didn't. She very easily got sick as a child, though she seemed to outgrow it as she got older. She was schooled both at home and at school before the outbreak. She shared classes with Ethan Winters (Jr) and Kyde Wells.
KYDE WELLS - A friend of Ethan & Mia, known for his cowardice. Kyde has a heavy sense of self preservation, but a weighted sense of compassion as well. He only ever has risked himself for his two friends.
JAMES HARISON - Mia's father. He worked for the Connections as a scientist and a researcher. Harison and his wife often exchanged information they learned from their jobs, aiming to and succeeding at "fixing" their daughter's proneness to viral sicknesses.
MARISA OLIVIERA - Mia's mother. He worked for Umbrella as a researcher. Oliviera and her husband often exchanged information they learned from their jobs, aiming to and succeeding at "fixing" their daughter's proneness to viral sicknesses.
JAKE VERANO - An Umbrella worker who had been trapped in the underground facility for a week, listening to the sound of his coworkers being eaten alive. Unstable because of his experience, he tries to create a cure using the intel of Ethan W (SR).
> FULL AU <
[September, 25, 1998.]
Ethan Winters walked home from school when his father failed to pick him up. He walked through the streets, paying no mind to a big fight breaking out near him. On the way home, he meets up with his friend Kyde who had also been walking home. They talk and walk together for a bit, before splitting up.
When Ethan arrived home, he noticed the front door of his house had been opened slightly. Confused, but wary, he entered the house, knowing it was uncharacteristic for his father to forget the door was open.
He entered the living room, and found his father laying on the ground dead, shot twice in the head, having just been killed moments prior. Ethan moved over to his father, before Albert Wesker walked out of his father's office.
Ethan barely has much time to react to him, overwhelmed by his own panic and the death of the only adult in his life. Wesker - wanting no witnesses - shoots him three times in the chest, and leaves under the impression the child is dead for good.
Ethan Winters dies for the first time that evening.
[September, 27, 1998]
For the past two days, Mia and her parents have been barricaded in their home, unable to leave safely. Mia sat in her room for most of the time, unable to look out of the windows due to boards covering them. During those two days Mia tries to call Ethan and Kyde several times in hopes that they were safe. Neither of them answer.
Until this day, the 27th, at 2:00 am, when she calls Ethan. And he answers.
{TRANSCRIPT OF THEIR CALL:}
Ethan: h-hello?
Mia: [Ethan]! You're alive! Are you okay?
Ethan: I'm breathing. [Pause] I'm breathing. You okay?
Mia: I'm boarded up in my house, we can't leave safely. Everything is a mess. I'm so glad you're alive, [Ethan]. Are you safe? I'm guessing you're safe.
Ethan: Not sure. Not sure. Find you soon, here alone. Alone.
Mia: Alone? What happened? Where's your dad?
Ethan: [Pause.] [Loud sound in the distance.]
Mia: [Ethan]? Are you okay?
Ethan: [Dial tone.]
Mia speaks with her parents about the call, expressing worry about her friend. She spends a while trying to convince her parents that Ethan may be alive (purposefully omitting the dial tone) and need their help. Finally, they agree, and at 12 pm, they head out with all the resources they could gather.
Managing to stay out of sight, the family make it to the Winters' household. They find Ethan hiding in his bedroom, one infected laying in the hallway with a pole through its head and Ethan's father laying in the living room dead.
They rescue Ethan, and flee from the house. Mia's parents explain that they need to evacuate the city, but that they wouldn't be able to drive, so they'd have to move on foot. They returned to their house and rested for the night.
[September, 28, 1998]
The family and Ethan head out again, this time aiming to evacuate the city. After several close encounters with large groups of infected, the kids and Mia's parents are unfortunately separated. Given instructions by her parents, Mia leads Ethan through the city, having to take detours due to infected blocking pathways.
Eventually, during the night, they run into Kyde, who has lost his parents trying to escape the city. The three of them take refuge in an empty abandoned house, and rest for the walk in the morning.
Ethan sits up for a while, thinking about what happened to him, and trying to figure out how to explain it to his friends. Eventually he falls asleep, unable to figure it out. In the morning they head out again.
[September, 29-30, 1998]
During another detour taken due to large groups of infected, Ethan is kidnapped by a man in a white lab coat.
Mia & Kyde go after them, refusing to leave Ethan behind. They manage to find him after roughly half a day had passed.
Ethan had been in a hysterical state and through tears he explains to Mia and Kyde what had happened to him in his house a few days ago, confessing that he had died and revived two days later. He warns the two of them that whatever Jake, the white lab coat man, did to him, it made him dangerous and unstable.
Mia and Kyde refused again to leave him behind, and spend hours gathering information from files and research left scattered around. They manage to make Something that was able to calm him down and cleanse what they had learned had been called the "T-virus" from his body.
As soon as Ethan had woken up again, they fleed the facility, Mia & Kyde both making sure he didn't collapse on the way.
[October, 1, 1998]
They don't stop running when they're out. A broadcast goes out saying that the city will be blown up in four hours due to being unable to contain the outbreak. The three of them realize they won't be able to get out if they take anymore detours unless they find a vehicle with gas in it and a clear road to drive on.
Three hours later, out of options, nearly to the city boarder, and faced with another group of infected blocking the only straight shot out, they decide to risk a run through. However, just as they were pushing through, a helicopter flew overhead and spotted them. Calling to them, the pilot tells them to attempt making it up a building nearby if they could.
Through pure bullshittery and luck, they manage to make it up, and they board the helicopter. Just as it begins to take flight, the city starts to blow up bit by bit. In the distance, they see other helicopters flying.
> AFTER THE AU <
Mia and her parents reunite, her parents having managed to get out before the children did. Kyde goes to live with his relatives in Texas, and Ethan is offered to live with them as well.
Mia's parents move back to their texas home, and everyone who had been in the city were given therapy. Eventually the three grow up and graduate from highschool, and move on to other things, never once separating.
The three of them eventually move into a single house together in California, and some time after that Mia and Ethan get married. And for a while they live happily
And then, Mia witnesses Ethan having some sort of attack in the middle of the night one time, and realizes that he hadn't been completely cured of whatever had been infecting him in the city at all, and that it had only gone dormant for some years. While he wasn't vicious or attacking anyone, Ethan had just been really plagued and didn't even remember the fits that only seemed to happen every other night.
Out of worry and fear, Mia begins to work for the Connections, hoping there was something she could learn from them in order to help her husband finally be cured. And years after, RE7 began.
And THAT, my friends, is my Raccoon City Survivors au with the Winters, also known as Raccoon City Winters.

Leftoverture 3- Carry On
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: Don’t get me wrong, I loved the finale, but I was thinking about how much I miss Dean and I couldn’t stop thinking about ways I could have him back so…I’m going canon divergent while being as close to canon as possible. ‘Cause that’s how Cassie do. This is where Leftoverture officially crosses over with Crash Into Me!
Summary: Sam tries to convince Dean to talk to his widow, but it takes a visit from an old friend to get him to do the right thing.
Pairing: Dean x OFC
Word count: 3755
Story Warnings: angst, Post-barn scene sads, mentions of major character deaths (Dean and AU!Sam), mentions of depression, memory fuckery,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey, get off the phone. Who are you texting?” Dean asked, looking over at Sam’s thumbs tapping out a message.
“I’m...just letting some people know that you’re back, okay? What?” Sam defended, pulling his phone out of Dean’s reach as his brother tried to grab it.
“She better not be part of that group text, Sam. I will kick your lanky ass.”
“Dean, come on.”
“She has mourned me! She’s probably just starting to get okay and you want me to break that? Not to mention the kid. How are we supposed to explain to her that I’m just suddenly not dead anymore?” Dean pulled over onto the shoulder and glared at Sam until he rolled his eyes and sighed, hitting the X to take his sister-in-law’s number away from the list that included Bobby 2.0, Jody, Donna, Charlie 2.0, and Garth. “Thank you.”
“It’s only been a month. You think she’s starting to get over you already?” Sam finished tapping out his text as Dean pulled back onto the interstate.
“I think I’m a threat to her life as long as I’m in her life, man. I mean, that’s why it took us so long to get together in the first place, because I knew that me being a hunter was gonna put her in the ground and it was just lucky for all of us that it put me in the ground before her.”
“Don’t say th-”
“It’s better for her to think I’m still dead!” Dean exploded. “If she knows I’m alive, she’ll come back to the bunker and she’s gonna end up dead and that’ll be on me! Okay, it’s better if she thinks I’m dead and we keep it that way!”
“So, I guess you’ve made up your mind on this one?” Sam asked.
“Yes!” Dean nodded, somehow still keeping his eyes on the road. “You know what, yes, I’ve made up my mind. Because she deserves to live a life that I’m not ruining. She never wanted the job to encroach on her life, or Rebel’s, okay? Fuck, if I ended up getting that little girl hurt, I could nev--and you know she only agreed to marry me in the first place because Chuck was gonna kill us all anyway and he’s not a problem anymore and what happened to my ring when I bit it? You didn’t burn it with me, did you, because that was a really good silver ring and if you melted it with me, I’m gonna be pissed.”
Sam shook his head in disappointment. “Your wife was wearing it on her thumb last time I saw it.”
Dean sighed and licked his lips. “It’s better this way, Sam. I know you don’t see it, but it’s better.”
“Right. You, uh, you remember when you guys were ‘just friends’ and she started dating that asshole that didn’t know what ‘no’ meant?” Dean’s jaw clenched tight at the memory. “You remember how pissed off you got that she was dating someone, let alone a Dom dickbag like him, and how you spent the entire weekend trying to get dirt on him to use to get her to dump him?”
"He was tryin' to put things in her while she was drunk! He deserved a bullet through the skull for that shit and he's lucky she wouldn't let me go talk to him."
"Yeah, I know. He was a piece of shit, but you didn't know that when we got there. You just didn’t like him because he was dating her."
"I'm a good judge of character and she is not. She dates douchebags. She always has. I mean, look at her cheating son-of-a-bitch ex-husband. If she's dating them, they're douchebags."
Sam rolled his eyes, obviously catching Dean’s self-deprecating undertone in that sentence. "Okay, but you're just gonna let her date someone else? You're gonna let her find some other douchebag to date that you won't be able to save her from?"
"I didn't save her from Mike or Drew. She was already half out the door on both of them before I interceded with either. And I know what you're doing and it's not gonna work." Dean pointed his finger in Sam’s face. "You're not gonna get me all jealous so I go find her because I'm afraid of her getting over me and moving on. I want her to move on. I want her to have a good life. That's the whole point here, man."
"Dean, she's not going to move on. She's gonna be devastated the rest of her life because you aren't-"
"So, we should make it worse by putting her through it twice?!" Dean snapped. "We should make her have to watch me burn another time, right? We should make her clear her shit out of the Bunker in a few years too? We should make her live with the hope that one day I'll manage to make it home again? We should put her heart back together just to shatter it into pieces again when I die permanently? Fuck you, Sam. I can't do it to her. I just...no."
Sam took a deep breath and shook his head sadly. "Fine."
"It's better this way. It's just better."
"Sure. It’s better.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was something cleansing about a simple werewolf hunt. Sam was being a little overbearing, but Dean understood why. Sam didn’t want to see him die anymore than he wanted to die again. There were only two wolves and they went down easy. It was a textbook hunt...just like the vampire cult should have been.
Sam shook away memories of the night in the barn and followed an energized Dean out to the Impala. It wouldn’t happen again. Not anytime soon. Dean was around to stay. Sam would make sure of it.
“So, hit the motel, pizza and beer, head back to the bunker in the morning. Did you report my death to the fire department because I’m still wanting that job and I’ll have to think of one hell of an excuse if you told them I died.” Dean shrugged, continuing before Sam could respond. “I’m gonna need to come up with an excuse either way, but an excuse for a month of radio silence is easier than an excuse for comin’ out of the Lazarus Pit, ya know?”
“I...didn’t say anything to them, Dean. It was really low on my list of priorities to tell the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department that Dean Campbell was dead.”
“Awesome. I’ll figure out what to tell them. For now...pizza.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No, I know, it was a crazy situation, but I honestly think getting lost in the Yukon without a cell phone was probably the best thing that could have happened to me." Dean laughed into the phone as he walked into the library. "Yeah, exactly. Never gonna take a warm, dry bed for granted again. Well, thank you so much for understanding, Captain. I'm excited to get training. That's gonna be...yeah, I'm gonna be there. Thanks again."
Dean smiled as he tucked his phone into his pocket. "He bought it. Thanks for putting those fake Canadian news pieces up. Appreciate it."
"Okay, but what if someone else searches your fake name, Dean?"
Dean rolled his eyes. "You think she's Googling me?" He stepped forward and looked down at Sam sitting at the library table. "She Googles me and she'll find a story about a man named Dean Campbell getting lost in the Yukon and surviving on moose and wolverine and melted snow. No pic, no identifying words. She'll look at it, say 'It is a miracle this guy survived' and then she'll move on to the next search result, okay? I don't understand why you're all up in my business about this but-"
"You don't miss them?" Sam asked, pushing his hair out of his face and leaning forward.
Dean bit his lip and shook his head. "No, I do not."
Sam stood and looked down into his brother's eyes. "Well, I do."
"Well, they're staying gone." Dean patted his brother's shoulder and walked toward the hall. "Good talk."
He sat on the edge of his bed and ran his hand down his face. Of course he missed her. Of course he missed the little girl he treated as his own daughter...or...the other Dean treated like a daughter. It was just too difficult. Explaining to his wife was one thing, an easy thing. She’d come back in a heartbeat and it would all be fine between them. She wouldn’t care that he wasn’t exactly the same in body, that he had different scars and a slightly different pattern of freckles or that his hair wasn’t quite right even after trying to make it work for four damn days.
She fell for him because of how he treated her, how safe she felt with him, how he made her feel. All of that was in the memories. How he felt about her was in the memories, too. He loved her in a way he'd never been able to let himself love anyone else. She was so much different than any other woman he'd considered making a life with because she was like all the best parts of them all mixed together. She was smart like Cassie Robinson, badass like Jo Harvelle, understanding of the Life without being part of it...with a kid, just like Lisa. He remembered that...and he knew that he'd never find another woman like her.
That was okay. He didn't really want another one: another woman, partner, wife. He couldn’t see himself opening up like that to someone other than his short little badass. And Sam was right that he didn't really want her with someone else, either...but she deserved it. She deserved to get over him and move on to greener pastures. So he had to stay away. For her good, he had to stay dead.
For the good of the little girl, too. If he just came back from the dead, it would completely fuck that little girl's understanding of life and death. It would fuck her up for life.
Dean sighed, picking up his phone and kissing his lock screen; the picture they took on the beach for their honeymoon. He held the phone over his heart for a minute and lied back, staring at the ceiling until sleep took him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dean smiled as he sat in a folding chair on the side of a soccer field, watching a short blonde girl dribble a ball between her feet on the green grass. "She's gettin' good," he commented to himself.
"She missed tryouts this year," a familiar voice said. Dean gasped a little as he turned in his seat to look at the angel in the beige trenchcoat. "They moved back to Florida too late for her to be placed on a team."
"Cas? Are you--is this--this is a dream."
"Yes. But...my presence is not." Castiel smiled as Dean stood and wrapped him in a hug. "Jack saved me from the Cosmic Entity from the Empty. We've been improving Heaven."
Dean pulled back and sniffled as he slapped a hand on Cas' shoulder. "Man, where have you been, then? We've missed you."
"Angels stay in Heaven now. Jack and I thought it was best to keep our interference to a minimum." Cas chuckled. "I'm not technically supposed to be here now."
Dean licked his lips. "Well, then...what's with the, uh, Freddy Krueger you're pulling?"
"Dean requested it. He knows what's been happening on Earth, that you've taken on his memories and essentially become him, and he knows that you are avoiding Cassie."
Dean scoffed and stepped back from the angel. "I'm sure he's got an opinion on all this."
"He does. He has a strong opinion on what you're doing and what you should be doing." Castiel stepped closer. "He told me to tell you to get your head out of your ass. He said that, if you have his memories, you're in love with her too and you need to go to her. He knows you couldn’t live with losing her forever...so don't lose her."
"Cas, she's better off without me."
"Is she?" the angel challenged. "Because she’s Dean Winchester’s widow. Doesn't that put a target on her back?"
Dean pressed his lips together in a thin line and looked away. She could handle it...right? "She's got protections...and we taught her to fight. She's gonna be fine."
"Dean told me to tell you that if you don't get in his car and drive to Florida, he's going to 'rip your pansy lungs out'," Cas said, doing air quotes. Dean scoffed. "He was very adamant that you go to her."
"Fine. But it's gonna hurt her. I'm gonna hurt her." Dean was absolutely serious but Cas just smiled and shook his head a little. "Hey, uh, Cas? Before you go...I'm...I'm not gonna get to see you again, right? So, don't you think we should talk about-"
"I think that would be a bit redundant." Castiel’s smile brightened, crinkles forming at the corners of his eyes. "Dean and I have spoken at length about my sacrifice and the words spoken before Billie and I were taken to the Empty."
"And?"
"And Dean Winchester’s Heaven is full of people who love and cherish him...who see him for the hero he is. He never believes he's going to hurt any of them. You should learn from his example."
"DEAN! Look!" Dean looked behind him to see the girl kick the soccer ball at the goal. He couldn’t help the smile that crossed his face.
"Great job, Youngblood!" he shouted before turning back around. The angel was gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dean smiled tightly at Sam as he walked into the kitchen the next morning. “So, uh...I’m gonna take a few days...drive down to Florida.”
Sam’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
Dean nodded. “Yeah...Castiel came to me in a dream last night. Said the original me is up there in Heaven and he’s very unhappy with my choice.”
“Really?” Sam was obviously amused.
“Yeah. I don’t know if it was really him or not. Maybe it was just my brain kickin’ me in the ass but...I’m gonna go get ‘em back.”
“Thank you. I was hoping you’d come to your senses.”
“Yeah, yeah, anyway...I’ll be back in a couple days. I’ve got training on Monday so...it’ll be a short trip. Maybe she’ll come back, maybe she won’t but…” He shrugged. “Don’t know ‘til I go talk to her.”
“Good luck, man.”
Dean nodded before heading to the garage. He had plenty of time to get nervous as he drove toward his in-laws’ house in North Florida. A month wasn’t too long. She’d gone longer without him in the past, but...he was alive back then. She knew he’d be back eventually.
He parked the Impala down the street. He wanted to see her before he talked to her. He needed to see how she was working through his death...if she even needed him. Dead Dean told him to go, but if she was moving on, he’d just get back in the car.
She was on the porch when he arrived, coming around the neighbor’s house to hide in the shadows around the side of her parent’s house. “It’s still hard. I don’t think it’s ever not gonna be hard. I still keep wanting to hear that damn Impala coming down the road. But even if I did hear it...I know it’d be Sam.” Dean bit his bottom lip. She was still mourning him. “I don’t know, Manda, but Erik has been a godsend.” His eyebrows went up. Who the fuck is Erik? Did she move on already? “He’s the only reason I get out of bed most mornings. He’s been helping a lot with Aria, driving her to school in the morning and making breakfast. Oh, he makes the best pancakes.” She gave a small chuckle. “Not that I need pancakes. I’ve put on, like, fifteen pounds since he died. Yeah, that is a lot. Erik doesn’t think so either...and Dean wouldn’t care...but I care”
Dean watched her shrug before shaking her head. “I don’t know. He seems nice but...my parents didn’t even know Dean and I got married, so of course Erik doesn’t know. He doesn’t understand...but he’s helping anyway.” She sighed and hummed a little into the air, staring up at the moon. “It’s still just really hard.”
Dean watched as she finished her phone call to her best friend and kept looking up into the night sky. He had to force himself to step around the side of the house and toward her. “Who’s Erik?” he asked. It was the only thing he could think to ask. Green eyes behind thick, dark glasses went wide as she turned to look at him.
“Dean?” she squeaked.
“Mostly,” he whispered as she threw her phone to skim across the grass and launched herself at him. He closed his eyes as she wrapped her arms around him, overwhelmed by the feel of her warmth against him. “Come on, Crash, I taught you better than this. Where’s your silver and holy water, baby?”
“Inside,” she sobbed out into his chest. “But I know you’re you. I can feel it.”
He pressed his lips to her hair and took a step back, leaning down a bit to look directly into her eyes. “I am me, but I’m also...I’m also not. Can we...can we take a walk?”
“Of course!” she agreed, sniffling and wiping at her eyes under her glasses.
They started to walk out of the yard onto the street. “Okay, but before I get into my whole thing...who the fuck is Erik?”
“Oh, he’s a maintenance guy, works with my dad. When I moved to the Bunker, Erik rented my room.”
Dean nodded, his lips pursed. “So, he’s your parents’ tenant and you’re letting him take your daughter to school?”
“My parents trust him...I trust him.” She stuck her hands in her pockets and shrugged. “He’s a nice guy...and he’s a writer, too. He was shocked by the number of notebooks I have. He used to do all of his writing on his computer, but he’s started writing in notebooks since I showed him the versatility of handwriting a story. He said it was like going back to simpler times.”
“Okay. I guess...so, he’s just…”
“He’s just a guy that lives at the house.” She looked over at him as he jammed his hands in his jacket pockets. “So, how are you back? Sam burned you. You shouldn’t be back.”
“You remember when Chuck was destroying the other universes and the other versions of me and Sam showed up? They were fleeing their world.”
“I remember. Sam wouldn’t take his hair down.”
“Right, well...um…” He cleared his throat. “Couple weeks ago, Man-bun Sam died in South America. Werewolves...and Dean couldn’t take it and he did a full wipe of his memories so that he wouldn’t have to remember and Sam went to Rowena to get her to fix it. Her version of fixing it was to give him, give me, your husband’s memories.”
“So, you’re-” She stopped in the middle of the street and turned to look at him. “You’re not my Dean?”
“Of course I am. I’ve got all of his memories. I’ve got all of his love.” He rubbed at the back of his neck. “Slightly different body...and a different soul. Your Dean is in Heaven. But I’m just like him. I’m exactly like him, Crash.”
She swallowed and searched his face for a few moments before she looked away. “The day we met...why was I crying?”
She was quizzing him, testing his memories, seeing how much like her husband he really was. “Mike left you,” he said quietly. “It wasn’t the first time...or the last. Rebel was about...two years old and you were tryin’ to hold yourself together. We shared some beer and talked about the monster Sam and I put down...and you gave me your number.”
“You, uh, you had a tattoo that I designed...it burned so you don’t have it now, but what-”
“I’ll get the rune again,” he interrupted. “So you can astral to me again.”
“Oh, it is you,” she whispered.
“It is me.” He wrapped her in a hug again and she grabbed at his jacket to hold him to her. “I don’t know how to go about this, though. How are we gonna explain to the kid that-”
“I-I don’t know.” She pulled back and shook her head. “I don’t know if she even caught on to the fact that you were dead...all I said was ‘gone’. I just said you were gone.”
That might make it easier. “Is she back at the house?”
“No. She’s with her father. It’s just Erik and my parents at the house right now.”
“Do your parents know I died? I’m just trying to determine if we can go in or if I’m sleeping in the car tonight.” He smiled at her as she sighed and looked away.
“I told them you broke up with me.”
“So, can I come inside?”
“You’ll have to sleep on the couch...unless you wanna sleep on the floor in Aria’s room. I’ve been sleeping with her on her loft bed since Erik has my old room and bed and all that.”
He smiled and headed toward the house, her hand in his. “She still have that big pile of stuffed animals under the loft?” She nodded and he smirked. “Then I’ll sleep in her zoo.”
She led him into the house and started up the stairs. They were halfway up the stairs when the door to the room that used to be hers opened. “Cass?” a voice asked. Dean stopped in his tracks.
“Didn’t mean to wake you, Erik.”
“It’s okay. I was just worried when you didn’t come back in. Are you-” Shadows fell over Dean and Crash as a figure stepped to the top of the stairs. “Oh, shit.”
Dean’s eyes narrowed as he stepped around his wife and up a few stairs. “What the hell are you doin’ here?” he demanded.
“You’re dead,” the blue-eyed man squeaked.
“About as dead as you’re about to be, Chuck.”
Honestly i think people dramatize the revelation that they're related too much. This is Westeros, it's completely common to marry cousins and aunts/nephews and nieces/uncles. It's common in every house (like Lannisters - Tywin and Joanna were cousins). Two Stark sisters married their uncles, cousins of course are very common in Starks as well. Targaryens took it to another level to be sure but i think Jon will feel the most about the fact that his whole life has been a lie.
You’re absolutely right, anon.
What Jonerys detractors don’t get is that we’re the audience. We are in a more modern age, in a world without magic, where we can communicate instantly via the Internet. Neither Jon nor Dany has any idea that they’re related – how could they? And they won’t know before they fall head over heels for one another.
I agree with the majority of shippers about their reaction. Dany’s haters are predicting Targbowl, but we can see her falling even more in love with him because of this right away. It’s not that she’s “ew – a Targ – she’s more into him because he’s her nephew!” It’ll be because she finally has family alive again. In the books, she misses her brother terribly although he was abusive. In reality, he was the only family she’d ever known.
And of course, you’re spot on with Jon’s reaction. It would betray the man he is to set her aside or be cruel and cold to Dany once he learns his parentage (sorry, haters!). His wrestling will definitely be more about the loss of his Stark paternal identity. Now, I’ve been fighting with fandom since my time on the Westeros boards 3 years ago about the fact that Jon is still just as much a Stark as ever – the maternal line is just as important. But of course, most of us live in patriarchal societies ourselves, so his Targaryen identity gets emphasized in our conversations.
I have explored Jon’s struggle with his background in my postcanon Gendrya fic a bit. In it, Jon’s a secondary character (thinking about writing a sequel about the same events from Jonerys’ perspective), and it’s been several years since the WW/Others were defeated. Jon and Dany have established a co-regency, in which he acknowledges both houses, and is a dragonrider (Viserion in my AU, since I began it in 2015). But other than dragon riding, and loving Dany, he is still a Stark. His culture, upbringing, education, religion, and consciousness are almost all Northern. He’s not going to suddenly become 100% Valyrian, although I’m sure he’ll be curious about Targaryen history.
Besides, I’d bet money that his Northern ways turn Dany on… I totally called it, and so did others. They both have the “beautiful stranger” intrigue going on with each other, and I think that’s part of the attraction. From his accent, to the way he dresses, to his presence, that girl was always going to be melting in his arms. ;-)
Honestly, I think Jon’s thought processes are going to be less about Dany and the fact that he’s committing incest, and more about the fact that this infamous, notorious story that he’s heard all his life – Prince Rhaegar kidnapping his “Aunt” Lyanna – is really the story of how his parents got together. It’s not just about his relationship as an adult with a woman he only meets once he’s already lived life and become king. It’s about his entire identity.
Thanks for the ask!
