Q&A/Ask the Cast: a classic, I know my ask box is open but here's also a clear chance to ask something that you've been really curious about! I need advice how to build my AU. How did you get so big?

Hi! I'm not sure what exactly you mean by that but I'll try my best to answer and hopefully include what you were looking for.

1. I'm not an AU expert, far from it actually. In my personal opinion a way to approach making AUs is by finding a concept to latch on and expand. You don't need to have everything figured out yet to share it with others, you can only have an idea for 1 character or for one place at first and gradually add on. It's also worth noting not all AUs need to be big to have charm, you shouldn't feel stressed/pressured into making everything detailed. After you got the premise (like for example character X is now a spider instead of whatever they were before) you can think about how X or different people would react. Would they be happy? Would they be sad? Would they try to stop it/change it? It's all about connecting the dots really, both big and small. You can set a goal and again think about what would X do to reach it. Like I said I'm not really an expert on this. In my case I drew 3 villains together and realised they could technically be able to coexist in a single timeline by accident.

2. I'm not sure if you mean "get so big" as in my AU or my account but: In the case of my AU I was lucky enough to find others who enjoyed the concept (as rough as it was and still kinda is) and to this day im very grateful for such a warm reception. Some people met me through that post and some were here before. Some were from Tumblr and some were my older mutuals/friends or random people from the other platforms I use to share my stuff, most notably Twitter. The AU is still growing, albeit rather slowly, and one day it might reach a point of a coherent story with a solid start and an end which I really hope for. (I won't hide that I'd love to make it in writing and post in chapters on sites like AO3 to read). What keeps me going is the fact that I like to think about niche things. In my free time I add the ideas onto a pile and when I think it's notable enough/interesting or I'm confident about it I then share it online too for those few who are interested. It got bigger because I'm having fun with it.

If you meant "how did you get so big" when it comes to account then I honestly don't have a specific answer. I just try my best to bring something new to the table I guess and in result I meet people who are also passionate.

3. Not particularly. Unless it's a friend or in some cases a person I recognise/mutual I don't do art requests (if that's what you meant). I can't really bring myself to draw something I don't want to. I make exceptions when an ask catches my eye or makes me giggle but overall no.

☀️Coming Into My Identity As An Artist

I guess this is kind of a re-cap of my artistic exploration of the previous year, I'm not too good at words or writing but I figured it would be neat to reflect upon 2024 through my art journey and things like that

I went through a lot of really big life changes and I feel like that shows in my work, I usually feel like I improve pretty drastically during the timespan of a year but I think the difference this time around is much more obvious. Here was my first drawing of 2024

I began feeling unhappy with my work last year, it felt very stagnant. When I was younger ( before being burdened with the weight of needing to make money to survive ) I would draw whatever I wanted to, express myself, play, ect. When art becomes how you stay alive though you start to feel like you have to fit into a certain mould, or else you loose your livelihood

My very first aha ✨ moment was when I received this comment a comment on one of my journal entries, I can't exactly remember it 100% but it was something along the lines of what you draw for work is work, and what you draw for yourself is yourself. This perspective allowed me to finally break free from feeling like I need to fit myself and my work into this perfect pristine pretty square

I began to start using a sketchbook again, something I haven't done since I was in school. Every day, or whenever my schedule would allow me to. It's gone so far that now I even prefer to do concepts in there instead of sketching digitally. There are no expectations and I'm free to draw and be as messy as I really want to

The first piece that I was "playful" with was

This piece was the first time in many, many, years that I allowed myself to just turn my brain off and create solely for the sake of creating. In my personal opinion when I am allowed to do this is when I create my best art, free from the pressure of having to think about monetary stress, about using resources that could be used to be taking a financial weight off. Creating just for me

I would like to credit this new journey of mine entirely to the unmasking process which I have been trying to do since last year. I decided last year to finally taking an effort to begin unmasking in my personal life that I never even considered that I was also masking myself artistically. And once I created that Puffin piece it's like my mask flew off entirely. I was finally free to draw in any way, using any mediums that I wanted to and I didn't need to worry about if other people liked it ( or me ) or not for it because I was doing it for myself!

Unmasking has led me to the current chapter of myself that I would like to label, "the hog" 🦔. In September my partner brought a baby hedgehog home from work for a few nights. This was the first time I had ever seen a hedgehog, and up close at that, and I immediately felt a deep connection and inspiration with them. Ever since that moment I have been unable to stop myself from constantly thinking about and creating hedgehogs. In all of my life I have never felt such a connection or deep inspiration towards anything. I have drawn, sewn, crafted, painted hedgehogs nonstop! My fixation towards them is so intense that even now I find it hard to work on art if it isn't of hedgehogs. I am my happiest when creating a hog and I can't wait to explore that even more this year

In 2025 what I would most like to focus on is continuing my adventure in exploring traditional mediums and as well to begin selling original pieces. The traditional mediums will be a bit more difficult due to the expense of them ( I know materials do not equate to the piece produced but working with cheap materials currently it can be very frustrating when you're unable to create what you'd like to ). I have absolutely no intentions to ever take traditional art commissions so I might eventually this year take on a special offer where if you buy me the materials I'll create something for you with them, I'm not 100% sure though. Apart of that which ties into traditional mediums is selling originals. I would really like to reach a point where I can move on from commissions so that I may create what is the most emotionally fulfilling for me as an artist. I have a lot of stressors in my life and I don't enjoy adding commissions on top of that as well, it also brings on those same feelings of needing to fit into a box which I don't like either. I'd be very happy if I could start making artwork that I feel inspires and truly expresses myself and if it speaks to someone they have the option to purchase the original. I likely would never do prints or stickers, I definitely do not have the time or emotional availability to run a proper storefront or anything like that haha

On the subject of song lyrics, there is a question I have been wanting to ask about your playlist: Every single song goes perfectly with deep end (and honestly holds me over until the next chapter lol). I’m curious about what comes first - did the lyrics inspire some of the scenes, or did you write the scene and then dip into this vast well of musical knowledge that I am so jealous you have? (I will never listen to Little Lion Man again without thinking about your Enjolras).

the short answer is that some songs inspired feelings or concepts i wanted to include in deep end, but actual scenes themselves were not (consciously) inspired by songs!

the long answer is that a lot of the songs on the deep end playlist and/or that i use for chapter titles are songs i already associated with exr or at least the individual characters. little lion man, for instance, has been on my enjolras playlist forever! (fun fact: weep, little lion man was one of the titles i considered for deep end before settling on throw me in the deep end, i'm ready now to swim.)

most of the chapter titles are associated with a specific event in the chapters themselves. a lot of the chapter titles came before i wrote the chapters, but i knew generally what i wanted to happen when i named them. and a lot of the chapter titles have also changed from draft to draft! for example:

chapter 6 final name: not a flower on the wall (emotion by carly rae jepsen)

chapter 6 original name: take this pink ribbon off my eyes (just a girl by no doubt)

chapter 10 final name: pressure points, they pressure you right back (hate that you know me by bleachers)

chapter 10 original name: tracing an old pattern (drawing the lines from where i am and where i want to be) (i can change by lake street dive)

chapter 11 final name: some things i never expect (halloween by phoebe bridgers)

chapter 11 original name: i didn't know i was lonely till i saw your face (i wanna get better by bleachers)

chapter 17 final name: and whatever we had locked up now is free (lipstick covered magnet by the front bottoms)

chapter 17 original name: all the hope i had when i was young, i hope i wasn't wrong (dream of mickey mantle by bleachers)

i've also just very recently changed the name of chapter 24, which i'm pretty excited about! i won't tell you the new name, but the old name for chapter 24 was "my moodboard is just pictures of you (but i'm not sad anymore)" from the song fake out by fall out boy <3

I have written a similar concept before in my fic Stage but that one is also a crack fic of who knows what the fuck I was thinking at the time.

“There you are! I thought I would never be able to see you again!”

You’re ripped from the cold mirror, the glass warping as if it were a lake he just pulled you from. Mark looks overjoyed to see you, clasping your hand with both of his tightly. Maybe too tightly. His eyes are wide, while normally you’d recognize their deeper brown, they look almost red in this light. 

“He thought he could take you away from me! My handsome prince, nothing can separate us now.”

While you are grateful to no longer be in that mirror, his intensity seems off. He was so quiet before the party, almost depressed with how poorly everything had been going for him. You had caught him the night before, he looked at you, his eyes looking almost sorry. He had apologized to you, although you hadn’t known what for yet.

You know better now. 

“Mark, Mark I need you to calm down please.”

“Calm? This is the calmest, the happiest I’ve been in a century! Free again, from that villain’s talons, snatching you away from me.”

His eyes glow red with a snarl, sending a chill up your spine before it goes away again, and a softer smile gazes back at your frightened face. He brings you close to him, pulling you in by your lapels into a longing kiss. Everything about this feels wrong, even in private he was never like this. You try to write it off as him missing you for so long, but there’s something in the back of your mind, nagging at you. To not set him off, you reciprocate the kiss back as much as you can. His neediness in the kiss makes it a bit hard to breathe, but there’s part of you that wanted to be held by him again, to see him once more. Whatever entity took your wish and twisted it, surely has a cruel sense of humor.

“My darling, sweet snakelet. Let me protect you from the world, a personal hero for the man I love. Nothing in the world I won’t do for you, just stand there and be my pretty boy you always were.”

Mark’s gaze darkens, his red eyes now looking straight into yours. There’s no escape from the intensity, not as his grip around your waist becomes uncomfortably tight. You were never the “pretty boy”, he always took that role himself, prideful that your brilliant mind wanted anything to do with his disaster of a self. Constantly intermingling with the top one percent, the rumors of affairs and love triangles making his already messy divorce more complicated. You were his recluse away from it all, your office was a near silence in comparison to the roar of his everyday life.

“And then you were gone. Stolen from me.”

His words pull you out of your thoughts, as if he had known your train of thought the whole time.

…is he reading your mind?

“None of those worrisome thoughts now, my darling sweet boy. Never will another man even look at you and live.”

“Mark…?”

That distinctive ringing pierces your ears, covering them instinctively as you cower from the voice behind you. Mark growls as he clutches you to his chest as you shake, torn between protecting you in this moment and lunging at Dark with his cane sword. 

“Easy, Mark. I’m not here to hurt them…” “Liar!”

Mark scoops you up, placing you on his couch to calm yourself down as he draws his sword. The blade is black, almost pulsing with the energy radiating off of it. Dark looks scared, almost like how you did when he placed you in that mirror. There’s a bitterness inside you that almost believes he deserves to be afraid. He simply straightens his suit, angling his body towards Mark as he prepares for an attack.

“You will die today.”

“You’ve already killed me once, Mark. It’s over.”

“Not if you don’t stay dead!”

Mark lunges at Dark with his sword, slashing towards his throat before Dark disappears into the shadows beneath him. The blade pierces into it, almost absorbing the shadow into its warped mass. He turns to look at you over his shoulder, eyes fully red and crazed. It takes him a few blinks before his eyes return relatively to normal, and he approaches you again with the blade dragging along the floor. He looks exhausted, almost gaunt as he crashes onto the couch on top of you, cane discarded onto the floor. 

“You’re not leaving me again, I will defend my prince.”

You try to card your fingers through his hair, trying to ignore the utter fear inside you as you know you don’t have a choice.

★ Todoroki Shouto hated did not like you at first. The first time you two met in U.A., not once did he glance in your direction. Don’t take it too personally, he’s battling inner turmoil stemming from his complicated family life and upbringing.

★ Skipping to when he does warm up to the rest of the class, he still keeps his distance from them as he tries to test the waters. Now, you, dear Saku, are the first to invite him to have lunch together via the crumpled paper you left on his desk during free period (he almost threw it in the trash, but he telephatically felt your distress thought it might contain something important, so he decided to read it). He accepts, of course.

★ Lunch together was awkward, but Todoroki appreciates your effort to fill in his shortcomings in the conversation. So to say, he just listens to you while you ramble about anything and everything.

★ When he gets home that night, he definitely tells Fuyumi that someone invited him to eat together at lunch, and that it was nice. He doesn’t realize that he kept your note neatly folded in his wallet.

★ Do you know the concept of personal space? Todoroki does not. Whenever you’re doing something, whether it’s doodling or writing notes, he will peer over and check whatever it is that you’re doing. Completely unaware that he, too, has attachment issues (trust).

★ “Am I too close? I’m sorry, I didn’t notice.” And you guys were inches from kissing each other!

★ Romantically, it takes him a long time to understand that what he was feeling is clearly not platonic anymore. But when he does realize thus, he skips the steps in his head and wants to spend the rest of his days with you (you’re not even dating yet, and he’s already thinking of the future ten years later). Todoroki’s hesitant to engage in a romantic relationship because he thinks that you deserve someone who wouldn’t hesitate to court you and love you openly (he’s worried that he’ll end up like his father).

★ The initial dynamic is someone who talks a lot and the other listens (with the most lovestruck eyes yet still unnoticeable). When you do get into a relationship, he’ll still treat you just like when you were friends, but with a bit more effort to show you how much he cares. Acts of service & Quality Time are his love languages. This man is your ride-or-die forever and would go through lengths just to spend time with you (cue to Todoroki just appearing by your side whenever you’re not busy).

★ Whenever Todoroki talks to other people, it’ll always be, “Oh, where are Saku and the others?” You will always be the first person that comes out of his mouth, an unconscious habit of his.

★ Matching bag charms, candid photos (of him, mostly), handwritten notes that are passed to each other during class, enjoying each other’s company even if you two are just walking to the cafeteria together or him waiting for you to tie your shoelaces (he does them himself further into the relationship), finding out that Todoroki kept most of the things you gave him (especially your little notes and doodles), and the tips of his ears turn a bit reddish whenever he’s flustered—and you’re the only one to notice because it only happens when he’s with you.

Something has been on my mind recently.

If the souls in the Hazbin universe are people who’ve died, how is it even possible for these souls to experience death again? A soul can be defined as an immortal spiritual manifestation of oneself. The whole idea of the extermination makes little sense. Given that souls are immortal, it raises the question of why angels would bother to kill souls in Hell. If Pentious managed to find redemption, what fate befell the other sinners who had also been killed? Does that imply that the other souls are transported to another location? Certainly not Earth, because their physical forms are no longer living. Do they go to Heaven? If that were true, then Charlie's work would have no purpose. Since they weren't redeemed, did they simply disappear into thin air? There is a chance that it could be possible. As far as I can tell, the show doesn't explicitly align itself with any religious beliefs; instead, it draws inspiration from different religious concepts. However, it defeats the entire purpose of souls. The show emphasizes the significance of souls, but introducing extermination completely undermines its core purpose.

I noticed this while rewatching the show to analyze it for a fan fic I've been writing. It's honestly super intriguing to witness because we don't get an explanation. The storyline of Hazbin Hotel is exceptional, complemented by its distinct characters. However, a more detailed explanation of this concept would provide a better understanding. Give us the answer to why and where do these souls go when they've died? It's the same with the Helluva Boss series. It's implied that souls in Hell could meet their demise, but how is it possible if a soul is believed to be immortal? Is it not immortal in this universe? If so, then why do humans die in this universe?

That's the beauty of fiction! It's all made up and you can do whatever you please! No hate to the show at all! I'm a big fan of it! I love to analyze and ask questions. It helps me grow as a writer. It's just a few observations I've made.

Edit: I did forget to include that only angelic weapons could kill souls. Which I'm assuming that souls can be killed in this universe. However, it still defeats the entire purpose of a soul. Here's a definition of a soul: "the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal." In most religions, they believe that a soul is immortal. In the Hazbin universe this is not the case, meaning, they have their own definition of a soul. I want to know what that is. This is what I find interesting. I'm not saying I dislike it. What I am saying is that in my opinion it doesn't make sense that souls can be killed and wish there was a better explanation to this rather than just "oh they can be killed by these angelic weapons." I want to know what is the point of death when souls in Hell or Heaven can suddenly drop dead to angelic weapons? If Heaven and Hell are eternal realms meant to accommodate souls for eternity, why do these souls need to experience death? Why do mortals have to experience death initially if this were the case? Of course, Hazbin Hotel doesn't have to follow any religion, but some more context to souls would be helpful—an explanation.

Again, this is a work of fiction, so no hate at all! That's the beauty of creativity! I love Hazbin Hotel! This is just my opinion and my observations/thoughts! :) Don't mind my rambles :,)) I do overanalyze things, so, I see there can be flaws in these. Feel free to point them out !!

When drunk, what happens to your characters? Are they the kind to get quiet, or loud? What do they like to drink and with whom? And when really, really drunk... Does anything happen to the abilities and powers they possess? Going haywire, or wrong, or otherwise manifesting in all manners of ways!

Hey, sorry this took so long! I know I said I would write a scene for this concept but I just couldn't make it work how I wanted, so I just wrote a few descriptions if that's okay. Thank you so much for the ask! 💖

How They Drink

Gazali and Friends: The king absolutely loves drinking with his friends. For parties or gatherings, he’ll try just about anything, but his main preference is something light and a little tropical. As he gets more tipsy, some of the low-hanging stars around Paradise kind of dance around him like he’s their center of gravity.

Pedra, Ruhi, and Alex compete with rounds of shots while their partners cheer them on, and so far, they’re all tied because they only ever reach four shots of the special Paradisian concoctions that Joe comes up with. Molly and Deliah take a whole bottle of champagne down to the beach and stargaze together. If Frank’s not with Gazali, then he’s having a small drink with Cecilia and Harry and enjoying the peace.

Rio: Whatever burns the best, that’s how he used to drink. Now that he’s in Paradise, his new friends are helping him discover new things, something lighter to reflect the peace he’s finally found. Since he can make copies of inanimate objects, there have been many humorous occasions where Rio sets down his drink and finds eight more empty glasses. Avery and Julie like to place little trinkets in his hand while he’s resting just to see how many copies he’ll make.

Jason: He’s only been drunk a few times, around Rio and Henry. It makes him really quiet and affectionate, so he’ll often cling to his partner and wrap his wings around them so they can be close. It’s also common for him to immediately pass out afterwards just because he’s so happy and at peace.

Dante: For as much as he loves a glass of sweet whiskey or an old-fashioned, he doesn’t like to be completely drunk. It dulls his senses and makes it harder for him to read people’s emotions, which means there’s a chance he could influence someone’s feelings by complete accident. There are some nights, though, where he allows himself to be drunk around Will, because he trusts their bond enough to know that even if he loses control, Will is strong enough to snap him out of it.

Will: For health reasons, he typically refrains from drinking in the first place. Certain stages of the Infection mean that there’s a higher risk for internal damage since the disease is essentially stealing nutrients and cells to fuel a Freak’s power. If he ever finds the right moment to be able to drink, he would go for something fruity like Gazali does, and it would only be around Dante because they keep each other from slipping up.

Romero: He’s gotten drunk once and he’s never wanted to do it again, because his powers cause intense pain for anyone that he focuses on, and it hurt his family the first time he tried his father’s sake. If he’s with people he trusts, he’ll allow himself one glass and nothing above that, just to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone.

Micah and Adrien: They’re suckers for a nice bottle of wine, which they save for whenever they’re alone because it usually leads to more personal things. Sometimes, if Micah’s not paying attention, his arms get a small layer of frost on them. Adrien likes it because it makes his skin tougher, so there’s no risk that he’ll bite Micah and draw blood. The alcohol and blood combo would be pure heaven for Adrien, though, as much as he would hate to admit it.

Hello there sir (gender neutral) I heard you are the scar angst guy (again, gender neutral) so uh here have some concepts that've been living in my head rent free for like a day or two.

Aight so uh the song Circus by Lindsay Mendez and Drew Gasparini kinda smacked me over the head with ~ideas~ and I have two that decided to hang around. (Also uh I may write them if you or anyone else happens to care, so please no stealy steals, folks) (also also uh yeah this is kinda shipping w grain and scar so uhh yeah be warned folks)

First off, this slightly older au idea where Cuteguy isn't initially Hotguy's sidekick. In fact, Hotguy doesn't even know who he is. At first, they don't really even realize this man exists. Then, the fun begins. People start dying, murdered by a mysterious person under the alias of "Cuteguy", known due to the notes left at the assorted crimescenes. These murders and crimes steadily get more extravagant and extreme, and soon reports of this "Cuteguy" guy's appearance come in--he is making a spectacle of himself and his crimes after all. This, as the song itself follows, is an attempt to get Hotguy's attention. A convoluted, highly irrational and terrible attempt, but an attempt nonetheless. There's more plot but uh, can't go revealing everything just yet. This is the one I want to write more, so like if anyone cares I probably will.

And uh the newer option. In this one, we lean more heavily into the bois are Creatures™ and shit, so like Grain is your friendly neighborhood watcher (hehe not all that friendly tbh but whatever) and Scar is a vexling (probs also a half-elf cause I adore that headcannon (Def not cause I'm making him a DND character totally not)) and uh yeah. Anyway, your local many eyed being kinda thrives on chaos and any form of entertainment (cough cough violence cough cough trafficsmp) and, in a very No Eyed Girl fashion (ironic seeing how many eyes this man has) your friendly neighborhood vexling kinda likes him. But how to get this being's attention, you ask? Murder, of course! Scar proceeds to use Scarland to lure in tourists and locals and uh, kills them. Yeah, he lets the vex side go out and have fun. Of course, this kinda freaks out everyone in the nearby town, and draws the attention of Mr many eyes, who finds this very interesting. This one follows the song a bit more (also the theming! The parallels! It's about a metaphorical Circus! This man has a theme park! I adore this so much omg-) and uh I might write it too. Haven't peeked at Villain Scar too much recently so like it would be fun.

Sorry for the long ass ask, I needed to share and others seem to dump their beautiful concepts onto you so I decided to shove it into the world here. (Also go listen to Circus and also No Eyed Girl (by Lemon Demon) both great songs I swear.)

I don't know where to begin. i guess i am super surprised to get this ask, because i wasn't referring to anyone in particular when i made that post. whenever i post something i am usually just speaking out loud, sharing thoughts. for a while i wasn't even aware that my #peer mindhack tag is visible in the #mindhack tag. but when people I didn't know started liking my posts i realized "well then, i guess my brainrot was visible to everyone this whole time?". so I'M SO SORRY if you had to read any of that 🥲 ..

i am more careful with what i write in the tag now.

second of all, when i said "gendered words", i only referred to gendered nouns, i.e. words like girl/boy, woman/man, queen/king and so on. basically, nouns that have a gender connotation. pronouns can be completely separate from nouns for some people.

what I'm getting at, is that in that post i wanted to joke about the fact that even format was called a woman or a she (the japanese word can mean both depending on context) by the devs, but rebecca only got gender neutral nouns. i distinctly remember that before the dev blog confirming rebecca as nonbinary was released, there were no hints at her gender except her feminine name. that is so cool to me, because this means that she was nb from the start!! thus, for me personally, it feels wrong to use gendered nouns, considering even the devs avoided the usage of them (though i guess it's easier in japanese). everyone else is free to use whichever words they want! a lot of nb people would be fine with gendered nouns, i myself am fine with most of them. and to begin with, captain is a fictional character, so anyone is free to do/headcanon whatever they want.

by the way, that blog says "rebecca views herself as nonbinary she/they, but is fine with any pronoun". so using she is completely fine. i mean, even the characters in game use that pronoun, haha.

(and i am also aware that some cultures don't even have a developed concept of a third gender, and that not all fans will be able to recognize rebecca's identity in the first place, and it is not their fault because they didn't choose where they were born. imagine living in russia, couldn't be me am i right?)

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding... i really like your art when i see it on my timeline, and reading your thoughts. and knowing that there are other english-speaking fans is always nice. I don't mind the way you draw rebecca either, it's a nice stylization. you are not in the wrong in the slightest. i was moreso just speaking aloud, and i tried to explain my point of view in this reply.

it is true that i can sound aggressive or defensive when i talk about nonbinary fictional characters, so i understand if my posts sound like that. but i believe that my opinion, in the end, is just an opinion, even if i express it in a forceful way, and it shouldn't impact other people's way of living. do whatever you want, i will continue to like your art and posts either way. i hope you have a nice day too.

4.Where do you find inspiration for new ideas? pfff hahaha idk, random things. I see a post talking about a kink, next thing I know I really really want to write about that kink. Or a special pairing, or a funny situation... I also draw a lot of inspiration from other writers, that's how I end up with so many fics derivative from other works. There is something very challenging in trying to understand a character as written by another artist, and trying to follow the same train of thought...

8.Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story? I'm rubbish at endings (unless I have very clear what sort of last punch I want to throw) and as for beginnings sometimes I feel like I am unfocused or don't know if I'm dragging on a bit too much... Middles are my thing, then!

16.How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them? pah!! who knows, there are so many of my docs (numbered!! I don't learn) with random concepts or lines waiting to be remembered and developed... I'll have to disappoint you, though. Nothing worth reading in stock U_U

40.If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see? I would be downright melting if someone did artwork like that for me, never mind the fic or scene. whatever impacts them the most, or find the most beautiful. I personally like a lot the visual of Xiao Xingchen with a veil (Xie Lian style <3) so something like the scene from A Comedy of Yi City Errors when xue yang helps him down the stairs and can't take his eyes off him... or the other from Red Sun Rises, when Xiao Xingchen waits for Xue Yang in their room wearing the veiled hat and nothing else XD

55.Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones? Xue yang will always be my favourite, my darling boy. I don't thing my way of writing him has changed much, but then again I haven't been writing for long either... Amongst OCs, my favourite is the stormcloud, that oversized toddler-brain natural disaster trying to rule over some ants ^w^

75.What scene in The Stromcloud took the longest to write? What was difficult about it?  Speaking of!! I was very hesitant with the last chapter (I promise, more are to come... someday...) because it's the first one the boys get to explore each other. I wanted it to feel warranted and not rushed, but I was so impatient with it, so eventually it seemed like the story was a bit disjointed. It tends to happen to me with longer fics, that's why I admire you guys so much that you can pull it off (I don't have the patience!)

76.Did you have any ideas that didn’t make the final cut of Uber-confident?  I considered adding a short epilogue with the aftermath, particularly how Song Lan felt about the whole thing and tried to report it but xiao xingchen was too ashamed and reluctant... but as you know, angst is not my forte, so I ended up scraping the whole idea and simply ending on a sharp note. If someone else wants to pick up the ball, feel free to do so! >/////<

I saw a post along the lines of “Don’t make your characters slimmer when you draw genderbent art of them!” Which although may be right to some degree (I can’t be bothered to consider it at the moment) does feel like a conceptual nothing burger like artists can draw how they want who cares maybe they felt like if their character was a girl they would be slimmer this really isn’t an argument worth having since you can’t do much to convince someone to act a certain way on a medium as freeing and lawless as the internet but that’s going a little of the track.

Anyways yeah so I saw that post and it reminded of a conversation I had with a friend where we were discussing my OCs and they mentioned how a lot of them seemed to be on the skinnier side of the spectrum and they asked if it was a way of projecting which is like, “Wow okay is this session of psuedotherapy covered by my healthcare” but again I digress.

And seeing this post reminded me of this and I began thinking because that’s probably true but it was a wholly subconscious scrip I didn’t realise any of it so I started thinking if any of my other writing was built on the foundations of my trauma and mental issues without my knowing and lo and behold almost all of it was which is very (not) surprising.

I mean it’s not very shocking or rare but what’s strange is none of it was intentional and it sort’ve just happened on its own or maybe it’s a mix of coincidence and my habit of over pathologising my own issues but at least some of it does come from my messed up meat computer like I realise I do make a lot of body horror and stuff about meat and meat-adjacent concepts which is likely stemming from my dysmorphia, hatred of my flesh, disassociation, and fascination with all things visceral (visceral as in of viscera not visceral as in very real or intense

And the connotations for the rest of my writing is worrying like what deep rooted illness could have spawned my unending fear of things that move the wrong way or what sealed forgotten trauma birthed my desire to be one with machinery or maybe yeah it’s all just coincidence and overthinking there’s no good way to tell especially with this brain fog woah it’s like a defensive manuever in order to stop me from seeing these kinds of things you know?

Anywho yeah next one I’ll probably write later today as some Apothetical Storage or whatever the tag is called

Mergen looked out the window, where Firokami was sparkling with life. " Don't you guys even care? We've got a killer walking around town!" " There's more than one," Mergen said lazily, turning away from Firokami and toward the girl. He put his hands behind his head and half-lounged in a comfortable chair. "Savra, it's only in bad movies or the same bad books detectives consider their raison d'être* to catch a murderer. Or some maniac. Or whatever. But there won't be fewer maniacs, murderers or other criminals. Spending your life on one person is... something from the realm of erotic fantasies. What's that in psychology? Negative intimacy? Something like that. "We're not living under socialism, or whatever Amiy calls it... something out of a book from a thousand years ago... the era of the outstretched hand or something. That's what he calls the communist utopian system," Han joined the conversation. "There, it is a natural goal, to catch and reeducate criminals. All of them. The psychos in Firokami just need to know that we're going to catch them anyway. That it's more expensive to commit crimes than not to. Today or tomorrow, we'll catch them." Mergen sighed. " But it's not worth it to worry about them, to stay up nights, to waste your nerves and your health, even your mood. Not only do they never end here, but they're in neighboring worlds, too. You catch one here, and he'll continue to shit right next to you, just one choice away." "Then why are we working?" The girl asked. "For their decisions." Fadge smiled at the girl.
