Thoughts on the AftG-fandom/Gedanken über das AftG-Fandom

German and English below.

Liebe Leser:innen,

ich muss vor dem neuen Teil leider mal kurz ernst werden. 

Immer wieder (so auch heute, ihr kennt den Reblog von zuvor) lese ich im englischen Teil dieses Fandoms Absolutaussagen wie „Es ist Fakt, dass“, „Wir sind zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass“, „Jeder weiß, dass“ und Ähnliches in Bezug auf die Bücher und die Autorin. 

Hierbei handelt es sich in vollständig allen Fällen um Meinungen von Einzelpersonen, die sich ein Bild über die Bücher und das Fandom gemacht haben und ihre Meinung jetzt als die absolut herrschende ansehen. 

Was sie nicht ist.

Sie ist eine Meinung von vielen, eine Meinung aus einem bunten Strauß an Meinungen, die jede:r gerne haben und vertreten darf. Das macht ein Fandom aus: die unterschiedlichen Ansätze, Kritikpunkte, Herangehensweisen, die Interpretationen und daraus entstehenden Geschichten. Leben und leben lassen, das ist der Kernpunkt dieses Hobbys und war es auch schon, als ich meine erste Fanfiction geschrieben habe. 

Niemandem sollte es verboten sein, Dinge an Nora Sakavics Werken kritisieren. Oder die Autorin zu kritisieren. Oder die Aufmachung der Bücher. Aber wie immer macht der Ton die Musik und den Ton sehe ich oftmals nicht gewahrt. 

Eher sehe ich Anknüpfungspunkte der meist noch jungen Kommentator:innen an die sogenannten Pomo-Bubbles, also die radikalisierte Strömungen, in denen eine Gruppe versucht, Individuen niederzumachen. 

Nochmal. Es ist okay, eine Autorin/einen Autor für sein Werk zu kritisieren. Es ist okay, ein Bild nicht hübsch zu finden. Es ist nicht okay, das in einer verletzenden, absoluten Weise zu tun und dagegen stehe ich ein. 

Ich möchte, dass meine Geschichte ein Hort für Leser einer offenen Bubble ist, die einander respektieren und nicht zerfleischen. Ich möchte weder hier noch auf Tumblr oder Twitter jemanden haben, der anderen seine eigene Meinung aufzwingt. 

Ich werde diesen Text in die kommenden Teile der deutschen und englischen Version von "Force of Nature" posten, weil ich insbesondere unsicheren Leser:innen definitiv sagen möchte, dass sie nicht und niemals gezwungen sind, eine Meinung anzunehmen, die nicht die ihre ist, nur weil sie jemand mit mehr Reichweite und vielen "Freunden" teilt.

Dear readers,

I'm afraid I have to get serious for a moment. 

Again and again (including today, you know the reblog from before) I am reading in the English part of this fandom absolute statements like "It's a fact that", "We have come to the conclusion that", "Everyone knows that" and the like in relation to the books of AftG and their author. 

These are, in all cases, opinions of individuals who have made up their minds about the books and the fandom and now consider their opinion to be the absolute ruling one. 

Which it is not.

It is one opinion of many, one opinion out of a colorful bouquet of opinions, which everyone is allowed to have and to express. That's what is a base of a fandom: the different views, criticisms, approaches, interpretations and the resulting stories. Live and let live, that's the core of this hobby and it already was when I wrote my first fanfiction long time ago. 

No one should be forbidden to criticize things about Nora Sakavic's works. Or criticize the author. Or the layout of the books. But as always, it's not what you say, but how you say it. and I often don't see the (n)ettiquette being upheld and respected. 

Rather, I see connections between mostly young commentators and the so-called pomo bubbles, i.e. the radicalized currents in which a group of people tries to tear down individuals. 

Again. It's okay to criticize an author for his/her/their work. It's okay to not finding a painting pretty. It's not okay to do so in a hurtful, absolute way and I stand against that. 

I want my story to be a haven for readers of an open mind bubble who respect each other, not tear each other apart and down. I don't want anyone here or on Tumblr or Twitter forcing their own opinions on others. 

I will post this text in the upcoming parts of the German and English version of "Force of Nature" because I especially want to tell insecure readers that they are not and never will be forced to accept an opinion that is not theirs just because someone with more range and many "friends" shares or proclaimes it.

i don't think i need to explain how insensitive and disrespectful it is, they're not a good person and you should stop supporting them. if you have lunopal's art in your layout/theme, change it to fanart by people who actually care about other human beings (like pestoprongs, siriuslyginger, faheyspadfoot, thejaninterlude... just to name some of them). unfollow them and tell your friends to do so !
