AFA SG 2016 Report - SEIYUU MEET & GREAT HEAVEN

Is this report finally happening? Oh yesss! School has been taking a toll on me and it’s been sucking out my creative juice so much. Well, it’s been 3 months since AFASG but I would never forget the day I met Okamoto Nobuhiko & Matsuoka Yoshitugu/Kanae Ito!!

Okamoto Nobuhiko Meet & Greet

OMFGGGG IT REALLY HAPPENED! I WENT OVER TO THE VENUE AS PER REQUESTED. GOSH THE QUEUE WAS FREAKING LONG BY THE TIME I GOT THERE. Tbh, I was taking my own sweet time and didn’t expect the queue, hence that queue number of 133/150 hahah....

When he finally appeared, literally the whole lot of us were screaming and cheering for him. He began by answering some of the questions that the audience asked and then it was the start of the autograph session. Sadly, we aren’t allowed to get our name written on the board TT_TT

I was honestly shaking, thinking about meeting and talking to him. Even as I write this post, I could still remember the interaction we had ;AA; When it was my turn, Nobu showed off his wonderful angel smile and signed the board. Amidst of that, I just went for it and talk to him in my “wonderful” Japanese.

Me: I’ve always been a fan of you. Now and forever I will support you so keep fighting on! (ずっとあなたのファンでした。これからも応援しますので、頑張ってください！)

Okamoto: Uwah, I’m happy! Thank you. (うわ、嬉しい！ありがとう！)

Okamoto: Btw, which character I’ve voiced, do you like?

Me: /immediately/ ROLLING THUNDER, Nishinoya!

Okamoto: AH AH! From Haikyuu!

Me: And also, Obi from Shirayuki-hime!

Okamoto: I see I see, thank you for the constant support! /hands over the autograph board/

I was over the moon by the time I exited the stage and kept thinking about his beautiful smile. Honestly he was like this cute furball of happiness and he worked hard to interact with each of us during the fan signing.

Lastly we took a group shot together and I can only see a glimpse of myself in the photo :’) All in all, it was truly a memorable experience.

Matsuoka Yoshitsugu & Kanae Ito Meet & Greet

Due to the Nobu private event fanmeet, I had to miss Sword Art Online main stage event that featured Matsuoke Yoshitsugu and Kanae Ito. I sped walk my way through the crowd and reached at the venue for the SAO seiyuu meet and greet session.

Well, that was my 2nd TIME to see Matsuoka-san but I was still nervous as ever. After a long line, finally it was my turn! /prepare for some incoming epic fail/

Me: Happy Birthday, Kanae-san!

Kanae: Uwa, I’m really happy for the wish! Thank you! /pass me the autograph board/

Me: /move infront of Matsuoka and look at him/

Matsuoka: /pass me some SAO flyers/

Me: Thank you. /take the flyers and walk away/

YES GUYS I TOTALLY WENT BLANK AND SPEECHLESS WHEN I SAW MATSUOKA!!!! /punch self/ I WANTED TO SAY SO MANY THINGS LIKE I MET YOU 2 YEARS AGO DURING AFASG14 AND LIKE HOW I LOVE YOUR VOICE ACTING AS SOUMA AND AND AND ... gosh such a fail.. I totally walked away feeling so pathetic haha...

Anyways, it was a great great experience and I was honestly lucky to get to meet few of my favourite voice actor. Below are the autograph board signed by them~! Treasuring these board forever!!

So thank you AFASG for bringing them over to little tiny Singapore! I’m just hoping that Kaji Yuki or Natsuki Hanae or Ishikawa Kaito or or or many more will come over for a meet and greet session! YESS THROWING MONEY IN THE AIR HAHAHA :’)

Crowds getting ready to enter the exhibition hall when the doors open on Friday

C3 Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2017 returns to its home ground after touring Jakarta, Bangkok, Tokyo. On it's 9th year Anime Festival Asia as been the biggest Japanese pop culture event of the year never it fails to attract crowds. This Year its the first time SOZO teams up with SOTSU hence the have added C3 into their name. Let's take a look back at the capture moments! Super Akiba Stage

Ayasa Performing on stage

This Year Akiba Stage as been upgraded into Super Akiba Stage, with a bigger stage and more contents there was something for everyone. Besides returning favourites like guest Cosplayers appearance there were brand new contents this year.

Anisong Violin Performance by Ayasa

Ayasa

Ayasa with over 120K subscribers on her Youtube Channel is known for her Anisong violin covers,sometimes in cosplay brought her electrifying performance for the very first time in Singapore.

Lechat

Lechat is a official Hastune Miku Cosplayer recognized by Yamaha. She also sings and have several collaborations with big names like Hachioji P and Powerless (Muryoku P), at her first C3 Anime Festival Asia Singapore she sang several song covers as well as her original songs. With her recent signing with Avex, fans of Lechat can look out for her singles coming out soon.

Moso Calibration

Fans of Moso Calibration were treated to a Special Showcase at the Super Akiba Stage. Much to the delight to the fans,they performed several songs including the ending song of Saekano flat:Sakurairo Diary.

Real Akiba Boyz

Crowds favourites Real Akiba Boyz returns to C3 Anime Festival Asia Singapore. Once again the crowd was trilled by their explosive dance on stage. Meanwhile DJ Keitan has also his own stage time spinning several Anisongs at the Super Akiba Stage.

DJ Soba

Another DJ that is spinning anisong is DJ Soba from our neighbouring Indonesia. The crowd dances and cheered along to the remixes popular anisongs.

That Anime Man & Takahiro Baba

The duo was on stage to talk about Key production specifically on the topic of Little Busters! English Edition, with the localisation of Visual Arts Key games on Steam non Japanese gamers finally have access to popular Visual Arts Key Visual Novels such as Little Busters and Clannad.

In fact, Usagi was Asia Anisong-Singer Audition(AAA) in AFASG 2014 & Tokimeki Jump actually made their debut at last year's AFASG. Talk about AFASG being a platform for aspirating talents.

The contestants are scouted out on the day itself by the guest judges whom walk around the event on the 2nd day of C3 Anime Festival Asia Singapore. On the same evening, the contestants battle it out for the top prize of cash prize of $500, while the 2 runners up walk away with $300 & $200 respectively.

The Akiba Town offers several event exclusives and Merchandises at discounted price. There are also booth that focus on their exhibits. While favourites like Muse and Proware made their return, there are several new exhibitors this year like bilibili. For the hungry Event goers there is also a food street for them to recharge themselves.

For the Event attendees that are looking for Fan arts of their favourite series, this year Creators Hub have a total of 100 booth, I am sure there is no lack of variety in the fandom of thier choice. Commission on the spot were also available at several booths.

We are less then a week away from C3 AFASG 2017! AFA is returning to Singapore after touring Jakarta, Bangkok, Tokyo. Here is what is to be expected next week on the 24-26 December at the Suntec Convention Center.

Important Notice: Regarding new Security Measures & Rules in force!

Due to issues arising in the past and recent amendments & implementation of the law on events security, additional rules & security Measures such as compulsory bag checks are put in force.

The following quoted info is extracted from here for your convenience: [Note: While info is correct at the time of posting, you are strongly advise to check on the official page for any updates in case of any updates:]

Definitions:

Event staff shall be defined as a person who is working in the employ of C3 Anime Festival Asia 2017. This includes, but not limited to, marshals, photographers, and security. Exhibitors are not event staff but may instruct you within and around the areas of their booth.

Attendee(s) shall be defined as any person within the event area of C3 Anime Festival Asia 2017. This includes, but not limited to, exhibitors, cosplayers, photographers, and members of the public.

Event area shall be defined as the third floor foyer and concourse, (excluding meeting rooms), and fourth floor halls of Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre. Any area outside of this is not part of the event area. However, we ask that attendees remain mindful of these guidelines outside of the event area as well.

Rules and Conditions:

1. General

C3 AFA Singapore will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged property.

C3 AFA Singapore will not be responsible for any injury or death resulting from the event.

No outside food and drinks are allowed within the Exhibition, Main Stage and Concert areas. Plain water in water tumblers is allowed.

No smoking is allowed at all times.

Running and shoving is prohibited at all times.

By entering the event area, attendees hereby give consent to having your likeness taken in video or photo and/or published by attending media.

There is no guarantee that guests will receive fan gifts. Please respect staff’s instructions.

No photography or video/audio recording is allowed in the Main Stage and Concert area or any designated area.

Organisers reserve all rights to remove persons violating the any rules from the event without any form of refund.

2. Ticketing

Admission into the Exhibition, Main Stage and Concert areas are only by wristbands.

Children under the height of 90cm can enter the Exhibition and Main Stage area, (not inclusive of the concert are) free if accompanied by 1 paying adult.

Entry into the Exhibition and Main Stage area uses wristbands.

Entry into the concert uses wristbands. These wristbands can only be redeemed at the event by showing an e-ticket (by print-out or on mobile phone) or a physical ticket, at a designated counter.

Please note that wristbands are to be worn on the wrist tightly before entry into the exhibition area, stage area or concert area. Entry will be refused if wristbands are not worn before entry. Entry will also be refused if wristbands are worn loosely and can be slipped off easily.

Please only purchase official tickets from our ticketing agents listed on our website and official ticketing box counters. If found with an unofficial (e.g fake) ticket, you will not be allowed entry in to the event.

Ticket scalping and illegal sales of other merchandise (without a paid booth) is prohibited.

3. Bags

Bag checks will be conducted when entering the Exhibition, Main Stage and Concert area in Halls 401 to 406. There will be counters at the entrances of these areas for checks to be conducted. For faster clearance, have your bags opened and ready to be checked before it is your turn.

Any bag larger than a shoe bag (dimensions of 35 cm x 20 cm by 20cm) will have to be opened up and checked visually.

If attendees do not have anything larger than a shoe bag, they may go through the express lane. Visual inspections of the contents will still be made for any bag carried in the express lane.

The event staff reserves the right to have you moved to the bag queue for checks at their discretion.

At no time should any bag be left unattended. At all times, there should be another attendee looking after the bag.

The event staff reserve the right to remove any attendees’ bags left unattended. Staff will engage unattended bags by asking three times. If no answer is given after the third, the bags will be removed. Unattended bags will have to be collected at the show management office in Hall 405. You will need to purchase a ticket to access the show management office. Any bags still in the possession of the event staff at the end of the event will be disposed of.

4. Concert

VIP concert tickets are based on reserved seating. GA concert tickets and packages are based on free-standing and guests are admitted on a first come first served basis.

Entry to the concert for those under the age of 12 is not allowed, unless accompanied by an adult. Both will require a ticket to enter the concert. Adults and children 12 years old and above will each require a ticket for admission into the concert.

VIP attendees are asked to remain at their designated seats at all times during the concert. Standing in the aisle in the concert is not allowed. Continued failure to adhere to this rule will result in removal from the event without refund.

5. Costumes

There are no restrictions on the genre of costumes that can be present in the event area.

If the attendee’s costume is military, para-military, or law-enforcement themed, we ask that they remain mindful at all times on how the public may perceive your costume when you are wearing them. Please make an indication or feature on the costume that would indicate that it is a costume and not a real uniform. This also applies to any costumes that are from, but not limited to, anime, games and manga.

If the attendee’s costume consists of a feature that conceals facial features, they may be asked to remove the feature at any time. This includes, but not limited to, masks, helmets and bandanas.

If the attendee’s costume is out-sized or has features that protrude out, we ask the attendees be aware while walking around and to avoid hitting other attendees.

The event staff reserves the right to ask any attendee to leave the event area or request the attendee to change out of costumes that are deemed inappropriate (but not limited to), e.g. indecent exposure (public exposure of genitalia, buttocks or breasts), outrage of modesty, make cause for public alarm (for example, terrorist wearing a suicide vest), etc.

Attendees should not engage in poses that are sexually suggestive or make cause for public alarm.

If you have a replica weapon, please refer to section 6.

6. Weapons

If attendees are bringing any replica weapons to the event, we ask that they remain mindful and transport them to and from the event in a covered bag, e.g. rifle bag for replica firearms or cloth sheath for swords. Only take them out once you are in the event area.

Anything that is able to discharge a projectile should be made safe. This include functional bows and crossbows with tensioned strings. Nerf guns should be unloaded and/or batteries removed.

Replica metal edged weapons (e.g. swords, daggers, thrown weapons) of any length are not allowed at the event, even if the cutting edges are blunt.

All replica firearms are required to have their muzzle tips coloured in orange.

Spot checks of replica weapons will be made and cleared weapons will be marked with a coloured cable tie specific for each day.

When walking around with replica weapons, please do not carry them in an aggressive manner, e.g. shouldering rifles, fingers inside trigger guards, swords raised, etc. If possible, carry firearms with your fingers away from the trigger and pointed downwards, and weapons sheathed.

If attendees wish to present their weapon aggressively, we ask that they only do so when posing for a photo.

When attendees are leaving the event area, they are reminded to keep the replica weapons for transport. Do not carry weapons outside of the event area openly to avoid alarming the public.

7. Harassment

Attendees have the right to refuse any request for photos.

Attendees should always ask other attendees for permission or have the acknowledgement of the attendee before taking the photo. This includes any AFA guests that may be in the event area.

Any form of harassment by any attendee will not be tolerated. This includes verbal, sexual, physical and psychological abuse.

Any attendee who thinks that they or anyone is the victim of such harassment should approach the event staff or notify the authorities.

8. Event staff

Our event staff can be identified by their lanyards and reserve the right to instruct and advise attendees in the event area on the guidelines.

If instructed by the event staff, please comply with their requests.

The event staff reserves the right to ask or remove any persons from the event without refund should they be in violation of these guidelines.

Please note that while C3AFASG17 is organizing the event, Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre, the venue owners, has their own security as well.

They can be identified by their uniform. They reserve the right to instruct attendees as well.

9. Miscellaneous

While attendees are welcome to hang out around the event area, they are reminded to not obstruct walkways and doors. The event staff reserves the right to ask any attendee to move from the affected area.

Attendees are reminded to dispose of their trash in the proper receptacles.

Everyone, not just the event staff, has a role to play in helping keeping the event safe and conducive for everyone to enjoy. If you spot anything that you think is out of place, please let our event staff know, or if the situation warrants it, please contact the authorities

The 2017 Edition of GameStart (GameStart 2017) happened last weekend on the 14th and 15th of October 2017 at Suntec Convention Halls 401,402 and 403. With this year's bigger floor space and new additions, let's take a look back at the captured memories!

If there is any exhibitors that took advantage of GameStart 2017 expanded floor space this year.

We have to mention Sony PlayStation, Besides the returning SEA Major booth and Stage areas where fighting games competition takes place. Located Right at the entrance was Sony PlayStation booth where visitors get to experience latest launched games like Grand Turismo Sports and yet to be launched Final Fantasy Dissidia NT. Playsation VR also made a cameback this year.

The inaugural SEA Mobile Major saw competitors battle for the top spot in Cygame's Card based game Shadowverse and Vain Glory a MOBA optimized for touch screen devices by Super Evil Megacorp

Founder's base Allows local and overseas studios to showcase their works.

Another new addition to GameStart 2017 was IGDA(Singapore) booth. Visitors had their chance to play the games developed by local indie games game studios. They also can vote for their favourite game. While over at Founder's base, both local and overseas indie game studios which are startups get to showcase their work to the massive crowds.

From tabletop wargames like Warhammer to card games like Magic The Gathering the tabletop gaming section has you covered. Other table top game spotted were Force of Will, the Final Fantasy TCG,Exploding Kittens, Dungeons & Dragons and many others.

Game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia returned this with several unreleased games like Dragon Ball FighterZ,Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker,Taiko no Tatsujin Session de Dodon ga Don! and the recently released Project cars 2. Fans of Ying Tze was delighted Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia. invited her as guest cosplayer. Not only did they get a chance to fight her in a friendly Tekken 7, her photo book was on sale and fans get to meet her at meet and greet sessions.

Hado Singapore is bringing the concept of AR Techno Sports locally. After hearing it at the press conference, i was pretty hype up about the concept. For the uninitiated AR is actually Augmented Reality take it a step further from Virtual Reality, AR overlays Graphics over a real world environment. A insanely popular example would be Pokemon GO. I did get my chance to play 1 round, it was great fun and it's sure a workout dodging those bullets.

With the launch of NES Mini,SNES Mini,Famicom mini in the recent years, one can tell that classic game consoles still retain their charm till this very age. Modern Game consoles may have amazing life like graphics. But that doesn't mean 8-bit or 16-bit pixels loses its relevance. At Retro DNA one can experience the game consoles of yesteryear and even grab some back home!

Game on! Cosplay Runway Contestant and Judges

Game on! Cosplay Runway competition has always been a staple at GameStart. Continuing its tradition a slight twist to the judging criteria & prizes category is what sets this competition apart from others . Level Up prize is presented to a cosplayer which is relatively new to the Competitive cosplay scene. While Best in show ( Craftsmanship) and Best in show (Characterization) should be self-explanatory . The top prize of judges (Guest ccsplayers: Carry,Vera Chimera,AstroKerrie) choice award was eventually given to Fiddlesticks(Surprise Party Skin).

Hmmmm... Why are they holding controllers?

One of the Biggest draw for this year's GameStart would be the NieR: Automata events. In Collaboration with AFASG, GameStart brought down Yoko Taro (Game/Creative Director,Nier Series,Drakengard series,SINoALICE,Demons' Score) & Yosuke Saito (Game Producer,Square Enix). On the first day, the duo appeared on stage for the Q&A session where fans get to know the answers of the duo to a set of Pre-selected questions as well as their reactions to certain polls. Returning to the stage on the 2nd day they were joined by Tokumaru Oguri (World Cosplay Summit CEO & Founder) to judge for NieR Cosplay Competition. The Competition was split into 2 Segments while the first was your regular go up the stage and impress the judges with your character portray, the 2nd segment test the cosplayer's skills in game. While Asayaki Sora eventually emerges the champion, Xin and Lenneth(who came back home to Singapore from US just for this competition!)won the Special Saito and Special Yoko prizes respectively. Selected lucky fans were treated to a close door meet & greet as well.

This year's GameStart Concluded with a full on Solo PUBG Singapore Community match. 10 Streamers were invited to play the game at GameStart itself while the rest were playing from home. The crowd was thrilled by the action especially towards the end.
