What is up with ArtFight staff? (my attempt at a semi-comprehensive post)
Allowing minors to view NSFW content, not reading reported accounts, staff’s disconnect with each other, mods roleplaying when the Discord got raided with messages of S/H and the like, lack of communication and favoritism
In the above article, note that an anonymous but reputable source testified that AF staff is understaffed and overworked. You can see, when comparing the current staff (as of June 28th 2023), and last year’s staff, that in between last year and this year alone, SEVEN staff members quit pretty close together. This includes an administrator who has not been replaced.
Re: the above point: ArtFight staff has always been understaffed, but this issue seems to be a lot worse this year (2023). The mods have also said that they are receiving lackluster communication from the admins at this time. This is why early bird signups and even Discord roles have been so late.
As of 2023, there is also only ONE PERSON working on the site BY HERSELF
Potential misuse and lack of transparency with donations
ArtFight Has Not Delivered on $300 Promised Perk (video)
TLDR: the ArtFight staff received a heavy hit in terms of a lot of staff quitting in rapid succession last year, which included someone in a very high-up and important position, who has not been replaced for this year. This has led them to be even more understaffed and overworked than normal for 2023’s ArtFight. This is why early bird signups have yet to be released, 3 days until the fight begins, and why it took multiple days just to get Discord roles out. Moderators are not receiving communication from admins, and there is only one coder working on the site’s development all by herself.
Furthermore, ArtFight has had a lot of issues and incidents in the past; a LOT of which could be explained by disorganization within the staff, such as someone not receiving their $300 donation reward, staff not communicating with each other, not reading reports, and lack of communication.
Basically, ArtFight staff is disorganized, not good with with communication (with each other and non-staff), understaffed, and overworked. They are a small team doing this in their free time for no pay, so bear that in mind, but the cracks are starting to show with 2023’s ArtFight, as there is mod talk of postponing the game before it has even begun, among other things.

What do you look for/ ask about when you visit a zoo? Is an AZA accreditation a guarantee of a zoo being good?
At this point, I don't take any accreditation as a sign that a zoo or sanctuary is good or bad. I've seen too many issues at AZA zoos and enough stellar unaccredited places to make any blanket judgement.
Here's some of what I look at to decide how I feel about a place:
Are the habitats in good repair? Is there visible deterioration in the habitat furniture, water damage, etc? Are there issues like exposed heating elements that could hurt an animal? Are exclusion barriers around heating elements or staff access well-built and secure?
Have things been recently cleaned? (Obviously, some animals poop in their water elements the second they're let back on habitat after cleaning - so this is more looking at stuff that's more than a day old, like visibly rotting/stepped in food).
Is the age/activity level of the animals appropriate for the habitats they're in? This one can take a bit of asking to find out, but it matters when places have older construction. Some of the outdated exhibit styles with less space to move or climb are fine for geriatric animals, but not for younger, more energetic ones. Facilities can often repurpose old exhibits for different species, too, if they can’t renovate.
Is the messaging and signage consistent with the ethos of the facility? Is the signage correct? If things are older I can forgive minor errors or outdated info because that stuff is expensive to replace, but new signs should be accurate. Also, if things are incorrect, what's the topic? An error about habitat range is one thing, a sign misleading guests about USDA regulations is another.
Are they doing animal encounters, and if so, how are they set up? Are they voluntary? Are they safe for both the people and animals?
Do I generally feel safe / welcome at the facility? This can be based on things like cleanliness, fence height, general vibe. I've been to places that just don't feel like they want to be a zoo, or want guests, and it was weird AF.
Are animals that are visibly injured or sick under veterinary care? Is it being messaged about transparently?
Are they taking appropriate COVID precautions around susceptible species? (This one is hard lately because IMHO I've seen mayyybe one zoo reliably making staff wear N95s around cats and primates.)
Are the safety precautions appropriate? Are there easy places where guests could contact animals that haven't been addressed? Are spots where people frequently try to reach out to fencing retrofitted or staffed to prevent it?
As you can see, I'm generally looking at how a place functions. There's no specific lines about it something is good or bad - I try to evaluate situations and look at how a zoo is (or isn't) addressing it. The reality is that not every facility has the money to emulate the aesthetics of the big legacy AZA zoos, and so you may see chain fencing or unpainted concrete. As long as it's safe and functional and the animal welfare is good, that's what matters. Renovations cost money. Signage costs money. Places always have to juggle what to prioritize, and big donations are often earmarked for specific projects or species. So for me it sort of boils down to "what are they doing, why, and how" plus a general vibe check.

I'm personally really happy with the finance announcement. It was really clear and I'm happy they're actually being transparent! I was considering not participating in AF this year if it was bad, but I feel comfortable enough to play this year too :]
I also think that people complaining about the size of the keychain are kind of misunderstanding it's purpose. Its not merch for merch sake, it's essentially a donation incentive. Like, donate this amount to the site and you get a fun reward and an achievement kind of thing

Might want to take a look at artisans (dot) coop for selling stuff! They look potentially solid
Went ahead and gave them a looksie! Honestly, looking at how they have things set up there are some red flags- and the more I dug the bigger they got. I feel bad because it seems like it might just be the product of people trying earnestly to create something good but realizing they need money to do it and creating a messed up system without realizing? But it is extremely reminiscent of predatory models and grossly non-transparent.
To clarify why I wouldn't use this site:
-information about rates, basic policies, ect are pretty hard to find. Language is unclear, links and pages are buried. Best case scenario: this is incompetence/inexperience, but will mean lots of headaches while dealing with them figuring stuff out and fixing things. Worst case: they are sketchy corporate jaggoffs using a lot of buzzwords and brandings to attract small business and obfuscating information intentionally to prey in them.
-seriously I saw them mention a seller subscription fee a dozen times but could not find what that fee was listed anywhere. If I couldn't find it quickly that usually means it's being hidden on purpose. Transparency is very important.
-really high listing fees (9.5%, even if that is including credit fees that's still 6%, higher than makerspace 4-2%) tho I'm not even sure it's correct/accurate bc how awkward information is laid out.
-a subscription/buy in AND a listing fee for the platform without clear explanation of rates and services is sus af
-they have a confusing, not well explained pay to win system. They are trying to raise money to get the platform going and I get it, but since they give 'points' out for cash donations (and other ''community interactions" like referrals :/) and the full list of what 'points' can be used for isn't really listed anywhere clearly? Either you can literally just throw money to get your stuff at the front of SEO or this is a dead ass pyramid scheme.
-WAIT I FINALLY FOUND THE FEES AFTER MORE DIGGING I'm sorry they want 1000$- yes one thousand dollars- to open a store with them haha, HAHA, no. They are claiming they need this to establish and will not require it later down the road, and state it is an at risk investment- it is to become a 'founding members' rather than just a seller using the platform. I mean, they could be being honest? But frankly I find this extremely suspect. It's claiming to be a literal 'coop' and granting members equal shares (that's how public corporations work?? Congrats??) and it's legalese stuff is set up like an HOA- which means it's all very easy for people in charge to exploit. Can very easily see this 'failing' intentionally a la the producers and the people taking the money and running.

I'm on the far fringe of the Sheen fandom. Don't interact but follow some people from when I was hot on Good Omens a year ago. I do follow some of the drama & didn't know who else to ask this to but you: have you noticed that that one big account with her Sheencon account are "fundraising" for like 3 different things (self, charities, & Hallowsheen) on the same 3 websites? As an accountant I cannot imagine her books balance & there seems to be little transparency. Thoughts? Or does no one care?
You’re not the only person to notice this- as soon as it started people’s spidey senses started tingling.
You’re right though. It all looks shifty AF and if I were Michael’s PR I’d squash HalloSheen like a bug. But as much as these people are annoying and should be booted offline because they’re the antithesis of “Be Kind,” I am reluctant to outright say they're being deceitful and making a profit off his likeness. There are some charity receipts, although I’m surprised the donations were that small, especially when other fans have raised well over a thousand pounds singlehandedly.
I’m full to bursting from all the tea you shared, rest assured I’m keeping it in a safe place. Forgive me for not posting it, I'm not terribly interested in linking to their Twitters, Redbubbles, or Etsy shops.
The bottom line is this- he probably knows this is all going on. He definitely knows the group has been fundraising, he's praised them for their “efforts” in the past. By not putting a stop to it from the get-go he’s given tacit approval of everything that’s occurring. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he makes a “special guest appearance” on the day and everybody’s undies get damp. He loves this shit, and if he’s willing to let them use his face so they keep stroking his ego, there’s not a whole lot to say.

Spaghetti in plastic bag
Summary: One time I pulled a spaghetti out from my pocket and my half-foreign classmates were like "WTF?"
So I was a scholar in a rich-af uni (one of the big 3, take guess) but it was provincial campus in the middle of a donated hacienda beside a protected enchanted forest so people are still kind of... Kind.
So introducing me, a poor high school kid who's just minding their own business, also hungry one morning but was running late. I saw this small house-based breakfast store and bought one of those 10-peso spaghetti stuffed in tiny transparent plastic bag. If you're not a Filipino, you can't imagine this. Because I was in a hurry, I put them in my school pocket.
When I entered class, I was worried my spaghetti might get 'SsqUAshed' and mind you, Filipino Spaghetti is red, wet, soggy, and sweet. It will be troublesome.
So before sitting down, I went to my pocket and pulled out my spaghetti. Slowly. You can hear the 'squish squash fuckity squash' and my seatmate, the guy in front of me, and the girl behind me, all with sheltered-looking complexion (I mean half-foreign) just looked at me horridly. As if I'm peculiar, as if I'm carrying my little lamb at school, as if I just showed them a magic trick only poor people could do.
"Is that... A...."
"Soup." I said, 'cuz I panicked. How am I supposed to downplay the fact that I haven't eaten my breakfast? Not eating breakfast is so irresponsible. Unscholarly. So I just said 'soup!' because 'soup' (or Arizcaldo) is just a snack in my province.
We never talked about that again. It never got out. We eventually became acquaintances, and the event was forgotten.
Today, I'm 23, my mother asked me to pack some spaghetti for some people. I looked at the tightly-tied red blob of bagged spaghetti in my hands and realized that my classmates were not horrified because I bought my breakfast in the class. It's because the spaghetti blob is... Just straight up weird looking.

I think what really gets to me is that this is clearly a pointed decision from Taylor. We all know that she runs the show and makes her own decisions. So she's choosing not to post, she's choosing not to be vocal, she's choosing not to use her platform, and she's choosing to not even let someone from her team use her platform. And that's transparent AF. I don't care if she's busy doing something behind the scenes, you need to be VOCAL and PUBLIC right now
!!!!!! and like i said in my last post abt this, she has an entire fucking team and if she is emotionally burdened by something else in her life she could literally txt tree “hey i have a lot going on but i need ppl to sign these petitions and donate to this cause can u put something together and then i’ll give u the go ahead to post it” and regardless of whether it was tree or taylor posting we would have!!! no!!!! idea!!!! but it would still have the exact same impact. i agree. this is a choice.

Whats so funny is that u come on here negging for money every week but u go too cafes but shit online and no telling what else u do plus ur fat af so we all know ur getting food from somewhere and a lot of it u fat ass pig. U don’t even have a job now u dropped out of college cant go back in cuz of student loans ur so fucked up
I’m literally only answering this to clear up any doubts abt my donations post and then anon is getting turned back off. (TW for potential disordered eating + unhealthy weight loss)
1. I went to a small neighborhood cafe a week ago, yes. And got a $2 tea. Because I was out all day and couldn’t afford lunch, but peppermint tea is an appetite suppressant so it would get me through til I could get home. (Edit bc I misread this the first time) I’m not buying shit online?? If ur talking about the homestuck hoodie I mentioned that was something I had saved for in the past because I knew the 10th anniversary was coming, which I didnt actually buy. I dont document every minute of my life and every cent I do or dont spend because I have a life, but I make sure to be as transparent as I can about my situation because I know plenty of people have concerns about people online asking for money.
2. Food banks exist? I’m eating, but not well. I’ve actually been losing weigh because my diet at the moment is mostly instant ramen, mac and cheese, and the free fries I get from work.
3. Did you even read my donations post lmao I literally announced when I got a new job. I literally just finished training and was hired for full time but I wont get paid for another week or two and havent gotten a paycheck in 2 months, so things are still Not Good at the moment.
4. Literally I fucking know my life is fucked??? This isnt news to me. It isnt news to my friends and followers. I was in a bad place and I’m working on getting better, theres no shame in asking for help imo. Fuck off or message me off anon if you really want to go off.
#letters#drama ///#malnutrition mention ///#weight loss mention ///#anon is getting turned back off this is just to clear any concerns re: my donations post

due to recent (vague) announcements, don’t waste money to get the search feature because it’s only lining the AF admin’s pockets- here it is. just replace the terms appropriately to what you want to find: https://artfight.net/browse/characters?name=&team_id=&species=&designer=&description=&order_by=id
Finding the link is paywalled, not using it! Have fun
(terms should be put behind the = sign without spaces, just poke around with it)

lol come on. it came out the same day as the les news. none of the other figures did, just the ONE organization fighting people like him. it's transparent af and even as a fan, i can see that.
“the same day as the Les news” - this news has been unfolding over MONTHS. You haven’t been paying attention. The smaller charities have talked about Harry’s donations, but you can bet your ass that a charity with a huge Hollywood profile is going to be far more interesting to the Daily fuckin Fail than, say, a Norwegian childen’s cancer charity or a German refugee aid organsiation.
Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but the #MeToo movement and the Times Up legal fund is under the spotlight today because of the huge publicity around CBS’s $20 million donation, announced this morning. Obviously all the papers are going to immediately go digging and to see who’s donated what to Times Up in the last month.
“It’s transparent af” - no, what’s transparent af is that most of you literally can’t see past the end of your own noses. You don’t bother to read about these matters beyond the tiny narrow focus of your Tumblr fandom and so everything you see is filtered through the biased, ignorant prism of what fandom tells you.
Read a newspaper. Talk to people. Grow up.

qu*erappalachia is colonized af, a few other two spirits and myself literally just called them out for their anti native bullshit and they said they would “center indigenous voices and reparations” and then the next thing they posted was soliciting donations for an off the grid farm ran by white people on takelma land!!
like you were just told how you can support indigenous people by posting about two spirit led projects. they even messaged me directly with receipts of their tiny donation to an acquaintance of mine, because “transparency” and “accountability” but wouldn’t post about indigenous people to their 50k+ followers...
lmao accountability does not look like centering white people and asking people to give money to white people who are “sorry” that they’re occupying land that’s not theirs

QEEP UP.
Qeep Up—a sustainable brand started by the iconic actress Maggie Q—is truly a go-to for ethically made, waste-free swimwear and workout outfits. After waiting for years for a sturdy fabric to be created out of recycled plastic from the ocean, Maggie Q was finally able to start her sustainable brand, and we all should be shopping. Queep Up isn’t just a clothing brand; it’s a call to action.
Rothy’s.
Boasting washable, woven flats and sneakers made from eco-friendly materials, Rothy’s is your new favorite sustainable shoe brand. They are continuously striving for zero waste, using a combination 3D knitting technology (!!) and handcrafted assembly to keep things up to par. Plus, the brand just released some seriously cute sandals, perfect for all your summer looks.
Vitamin A.
After first being told by fabric suppliers that there wasn’t a market for swimwear made from recycled fibers, the founder of Vitamin A took it upon herself to make her own fabric—EcoLux—and thus, one of the first sustainable swimwear brands was born. Vitamin A also incorporates organic cotton, linen and recycled cotton into products like the cute suit above, making it the ultimate place to score your next sustainable bikini.
Warp & Weft
With sustainable, size-inclusive denim under $100, Warp & Weft is not a brand you want to sleep on. With an emphasis on ethical practices, the brand strives to make the denim of your dreams, and this year they’re doing a little bit extra for Earth Day. Even if you aren’t ordering jeans (which, you should, but whatever), you can donate to No Kid Hungry through the Warp & Weft site, and they’ll match your donation and use it all to help children affected by COVID-19 school closures get the meals they need.
16. CASETiFY Conscious
CASETiFY.
Okay, so I know phone cases aren’t technically fashion, but I use mine like an accessory! For this reason, I’m beyond pumped about CASETiFY Conscious, the brand’s all-new, fully compostable cases. Plus, they’ll plant a tree for every compostable case sold on Earth Day as part of a partnership with Earth Day Network’s Canopy Project! Treat yourself, your phone, and Mother Nature.

11 Ethical Brands Producing Organic Activewear, Yoga Wear and Athleisure Clothing
When a reader recently left a comment sharing her difficulties in finding organic activewear and sportswear made from chemical-free natural fibres, a lightbulb went off in my head. She’s not the first reader to mention this; why the heck haven’t we created this list before?
Some people don’t like to wear garments made of synthetic fabrics, whether for health reasons, comfort reasons, environmental reasons or just personal preferences. Even if the garments is made from ‘sustainable’ but plastic-derived fabrics such as recycled polyester and ECONYL, or eco-friendly semi-synthetic fabrics such as Tencel and Lyocell.
Wearing organic natural fibres is healthier for the skin and more planet-friendly since it is grown with no toxic pesticides, fertilisers and GMOs. Whether we’re talking organic cotton or organic hemp, organic fibres are grown with the health of farmers, workers, wildlife and the planet in mind.
Now activewear made complete of 100% organic natural fibres such as 100% organic cotton doesn’t seem to exist as it’s clear from my research that the garments need to be blended with elastane and Spandex for high-performance, durability and stretch. But if you know of any 100% organic cotton athleisure brands, feel free to leave their details in the comment section below.
With that said, as far as we’re concerned, close enough is good enough. Any brand that responsibly manufactures activewear and athleisure wear made of mostly natural and organic fibres should be commended.
