Nothing says team building like chaos and arguing over who broke that one clock in the tower they were told to never touch. Of course, everything was as it should be.
Another meme redraw because I can't help myself at all. I really enjoy doing these, especially with a nice mix of canon and original characters (made by myself and others).
Naturally Aether belongs to @ectospacecadet who graciously allows me to tormet their lad for my own amusement.
Original meme below cut.
One day I want to animate this with dp characters and ocs

i just mentioned it over on twt but the more i'm thinking about it the funnier it is to me. but. Raya is my main WoL, yeah. and I thought probably should fill in the adventurer team for shb and who gets dragged to the first with the scions. Nhea is fairly obvious since he's Raya's big brother, Layla felt right too since she's close with G'raha (though this would've been before they were dating) so that's 3/4 of a non scions team so I kinda want to round it out with a 4th so it, y'know, works and all.
Raya and Nhea are both paladin/monk so they can fit tank or dps. Layla is white mage so she's heals, so just missing another dps or a focused tank. I thought Vincent would be funnier if he stayed behind on the source and ends up getting dragged back into the role of Warrior of Light since Raya's busy (he's my 1.0 wol so i mean it would make sense) so he's out, busy getting dragged out of retirement by tataru. And a few ocs don't really fit the situation or aren't really strongly connected to the scions so they're out. so my main options are: eloise (bard, was a crystal brave who officially joined the scions with Riol, ends up y'shtola's GF), einar (gunbreaker, formerly of the VIIth legion now mechanic in ishgard mainly working on the airships and doing odd jobs for the ironworks, aymeric's BF), or shana (dancer, nhea's twin sister, member of the red bills and leofard's GF)
originally i was kinda leaning towards eloise, but the more i'm thinking about it the funnier it is to me if it's einar. like he's helping cid with the crystal towers stuff as a favor and ends up later getting yoinked to the first. he's the only garlean, everything is unbalanced aether and no tech he's all that familiar with. and it's too warm. he'd be suffering the whole time.
i kinda wanna make him the designated 4 member of the wol's adventurer squad on the first, he'd hate it so much

The boys are at it again! They’re friends, I swear ;;
A a a look at the posing, the expressions, the lightning! All the fury and frustration, hell yes! Thank you so much again dude!
Go give this nut a follow, their art is insane and I look forward to their upcoming DP Project!
Finally finished this after a month of procrastinating. Danny vs Aether piece for @ectospacecadet for the 600 follower challenge on Ecto’s IG.
Aether is not my Oc. Aether is Ecto’s OC. Just to clear that up.
Everyone does green with ghosts, I switched it with red because red is an intense color and totally not because I’m super biased with it being my favorite color

welcome to the it.
I have a carrd but this also seemed like a good place to keep information.
I am Ton, I am an adult human of sufficient age. I have three FFXIV OCs that you will most likely see on this blog:
Tonkatsu Udon (she/they)
The real hero of the story. God's special little meow meow. Knight complex? It's really quite simple.
Tank/DPS with a self-sacrificing streak a mile wide. Equal opportunity flirt. In any other universe would be a drama kid of heretofore unseen magnitude.
#tonkatsucore
Shio Soumen (he/him)
Literally just a trans guy from Ohio. Balances books and catches crooks (if sufficiently compensated). 30 to 40 and doesn't need this.
Healer, begrudgingly. Mostly specced into crowd-control techniques of the binding variety. Is it a kink thing? Hard to tell.
#shiocore
Ceres Bellum (she/her)
Recovering heiress. An aether bomb of unimaginable power. Plagued by visions but she stays silly.
DPS exclusively. Fire IV is her only healthy outlet. Has a crush on every boy at school, but especially Owyne. Used to be a thrall of Titan, but got better.
#cerescore

Dawntrail Day 2
spoilers up to: lvl 93 msq (including first two dungeons and first trial)
original draft date: 29/6/24
scheduled release for: 27/7/24
time for more msq! only passively leveling picto atm - i ain't dealing with those dps queues - so i'm hoping to reach the first dungeon and trial at least today!
*
sorry wuk lamat but you did tell erenville you’d take any way that was available
*
awww Thancred’s embarrassing koana
*
….i stopped literally ten minutes before the dungeon unlock last night
ten minutes
fucker
*
question (that isn’t gonna be answered for a month lol): does who the cutscene mentions staying behijd change? cos i’m on drg and ali is staying behind but if i was a healer would it be alphi? or can alphi or wuk lamat switch out for dps on this trust dungeon?
…they probably just flex wuk lamat or alphi thinking about it
*
okay wow hi i hate that
*
sorry wuk lamat we’ll get you a rest soon let me just drive all over the zone collecting aether currents first
*
yeah but neither do your brothers
you heard even koana: he doesn’t see rhe point or ihih’hana when there are simpler ways to revitalise the soils aether. why care about tradition when you can have efficiency?
you want to learn wuk lamat and that’s the important part
*
the boy is just so damn pretty
*
i don’t care how villainous you are you do not take a seat at a cafe for your top secret villain meeting and then not at least order drinks
fucks sake support local businesses damn it
*
“As long as you cover my teleportation fees”
“…what is a teleportation?”
I’m dying-
*
time to get my arse handed to me in a spar with gulool ja ja!
*
fucking hell i was not expecting that active time maneuver to go so hard
fun fight tho not really hard but definitely has you bouncing around a lot
*
that none of them are ready for the throne?
yeah clocked that
but then that’s what this rite is for yeah? to teach them and see who will be ready
*
sareel ja is giving me major mad scientist vibes ngl
i am very worried about what he’s gonna get up to
maybe the true villain? he’s almost certainly gonna end up tossing aside zoraal ja at some point
*
damn she missed
*
i hate follow quests
doesn’t matter what game just hate
*
TWO????
there’s a second one?!?!?!
*
oh hey! nice!
we haven’t had a race speak a different language since the dragons iirc!
i mean these guys can speak both and are gonna try and kill us almost certainly but! own language!
*
wait what-
another dungeon already?
i know they do them on odd quests but still it hardly feels like any time has passed since the last dungeon esp when i played eight hours yesterday without hitting the first one
*
okay i’m digging the music in worqor zormor
*
rdm confirmed as a healer class square said it first
*
annnd valigarmanda is free
i’m not saying i’m blaming bakool ja ja despite having no evidence but
*
i were fucking right
*
that has to disqualify them right?
like bakool ja ja has to be disqualified from the rite for freeing valigarmanda right?
*
koana’s back!
i’d say they were gonna let us do trust for the trial but alphi isn’t here-
zoraal ja? huh
really expected him to have left tbh
maybe trust is back on the table then? but still no second healer (except for healer rdm ali who doesn’t steal the lb)
*
duty support yes!
i love it when they do this for trials!
*
….how tf did we get onto this platform? I see no way up in the slightest
yes i am typing this while standing in front of valigarmanda i’m on trust they’ll wait
*
huh
no idea if this is a trust trial thing? so you have a chance to learn from your mistakes? or if it’s supposed to be for everyone and it’s only showing on me cos of trusts
but also the trial was fun and can’t wait to see how the extreme ends up
*
i do appreciate that wuk lamat is basically the only one makinh friends so she’s (seemingly) the only one getting all these golden city lore dumps
*
flying unlocked for urqopacha and kozama’uka!
*
so i've been thinking aobut it for an hour or so (dog walk) and it's occurred to me what i found odd about this part of the msq
dawntraal bucks a trend that's been in every ffxiv expansion
we've had at least a single split zone since heavensward (sea of clouds) and two in every expansion since: the peaks and the fringes for stormblood, kholusia and amh areng in shadowbringers, and labyrinthos and thavnair in endwalker
dawntrail doesn't buck the trend here with urqopacha and kozama'uka
but in every previous expansion, those split zones were some of the first, usually the first, zones we visited. we explored half of them. we left and the msq continued on, we visited 1-3 other zones, and then we return once more late into the expansion to explore the other half of the zones. it has been this way in every expansion
except for dawntrail
dawntrail starts exactly were you expect, esp after shb and ew, you start the msq. the msq splits along two paths. those paths introduce the split zones. the msq remerges and continues
only instead of taking you to the third zone, as anyone who'd played the previous expansions would except, dawntrail immediately takes you back
urqopacha and kozama'uka are the two first zones you visit and then you go back and explore the other half and there are still four zones left to visit and i-
i'm really curious as to how this will change things. usually split zones are both beginning and almost endgame zones (usually place directly before the final zone in more recent expansions) so now that they are fully beginning zones what does that mean?
will this be the new trend now or is are they gonna change it up every expansion? is this just something for dawntrail?
idk and it probably means absolutely nothing but it's interesting

It's taken me a month to draw and color this from paper sketch to final product and then a few days longer to post it here but I AM FINALLY DONE WITH HER.
This is Shufen, technically a Xiao/Aether child, but she can work for xiaolumi as well.
Cryo claymore sub dps character but her signature (which is not the one in the picture because I Have Not Designed It Yet) weapon is a hammer named Primordial Jade-Cased Gavel.
I was going to wait until I had finished her entire OC doc and then share it but uh. I can't wait anymore.

Day 22: Deity
[ So. A very long time ago, both @ever-searching and @mathemagiks did an “OC Primal” challenge/meme - that I, for so very long, wished to do but had zero motivation to do. (You can find them both here and here, respectively! I suggest reading, they’re very great!)
So... I decided to do that for the prompt! ]
Primal Name: Myrrdyn
Trial Name: The False Heavens (Location: Unknown; Weather: Starry Night)
Quest Overview: In an attempt to save Maximiloix and your lives from the hands of fate, Caromont has called upon the powers of Myrddyn, a god of magic and prophecy. While successful, your mediator friend has found himself consumed by the primal and unable to break free. Stop him, before the very heavens crash upon the world beneath your stage of stars.
Battle Music:
Phase 1 - Night and Day - Amadeus Indetzki Interlude - True Love’s Last Kiss - (Eternal Eclipse) Thomas-Adam Habuda Phase 2 - Full Orbit Soundtrack - Sky: Children of the Light
The music softens through the phases. Phase 1 and Interlude’s tracks will repeat; once Phase 2′s track ends, the rest of the battle will be played out in silence.
Appearance: As Caromont draws massive amounts of aether into his body, his eyes and hair fade to white - the once kind eyes have now turned dead and indifferent. A veil of stars and constellations adorn him much like a crown, his nails painted of swirling universes. The planets surround him, command of them at his fingertips; a halo of moons and a celestial gown. Both dazzling and dark, the hands of time and fate are weaved by his hands.
Start of Battle Quote: “The future is mine, and mine alone. Only I can give fate what it desires.”
Battle Overview: The battle against Myrddyn is split into two phases and an interlude, and flips the entire system of mechanics on its head - creating a whole new level of difficult.
[ The rest will be under the cut, due to length. ]
Phase 1
In Phase 1, Myrrdyn introduces the party to the basics of his battle; his first move being a tank-buster - [Starlight] - which targets the main tank with five stacks of the [Tragic Fate] debuff.
This debuff will reduce magical defense significantly, and wears away one stack at a time over the course of ten seconds. The lower the stack count, the more damage that will be received - and tanks must switch before the next [Starlight] attack. [Starlight] will be cast again after the ability [Myriad of Stars], an unavoidable party-wide attack, has been cast. During this first phase, Myrrdyn’s abilities will switch between [Laws of the Moon], and [Laws of the Sun].
[Laws of the Moon] targets both Healers with “stack” markers - players must act unpredictably and not stack with the two healers, and instead have the healers spread as far from the party as they can get. [Laws of the Moon] acts like a “spread” mechanic, but will instantly KO everyone inside of the stack markers should there be more than one inside of them.
[Laws of the Sun] targets two DPS with “spread” markers, and again, players must act unpredictably and instead act as if these markers are two “stack” markers instead. [Laws of the Sun] acts much like the ability “Akh Morn” and players must stay stacked until the ability ends after four strikes. There must be four players total in each marker, any more or any less will KO everyone in those markers.
Laws of the Moon Speech Notification: “I am your moon and stars.” Laws of the Sun Speech Notification: “You are my sun and sky.” Phase 1 Party Wipe Quote: “The future is mine, and mine alone.”
Interlude
Myrddyn: “What... power is this?” Maximiloix: “Wait! Do not hurt him!”
The interlude, the party has worn down Myrddyn enough to drop Caromont’s body, making him vulnerable to attacks. Before they have a chance, Maximiloix steps in to shield him from damage. The interlude is both a DPS and Healing check - the DPS must focus on breaking Maximiloix’s shield before the “Burst” gauge reaches zero. During this, [Myriad of Stars] breaks through the shield every two seconds to cause its group-wide damage.
Once the shield is broken, Myrddyn breaks free again - swallowing the stage with darkness, now lit only by stars. The barriers of the stage are broken, and it is now possible to fall off the edges.
Interlude Party Wipe Quote: “You believe you could challenge fate?”
Phase 2
Myrddyn: “Do not resist the fates I have assigned you, for I can read your every move.”
All abilities afterwards are played out in random, unless otherwise specified; making it difficult to tell what he might cast next.
Phase 2 taps into Myrddyn’s prophecy abilities further - and the party must act recklessly.
He starts the phase off with [Myrddyn’s Enclosure] and targets one tank and one healer - which encases both in an attackable cocoon of night-sky; each casting [Weight of the Heavens]. If the cocoons break before the cast timer is up, the player inside will be instantly KO’d. Otherwise, the players only receive 25% of their current health in damage. Players can be healed through the cocoons by other players, but cannot do any actions of their own.
Then comes another [Starlight] tank buster, following after is [Gift of Prophecy] which applies a buff to Myrddyn, which then switches the effects of the [Tragic Fate] debuff, as well as [Laws of the Moon], and [Laws of the Sun], while it is active. [Tragic Fate] now deals more damage the higher the stacks, [Laws of the Moon] now becomes a proper “stack” mechanic, and [Laws of the Sun] now becomes a proper “spread” mechanic. Players must watch to see if this buff is applied or not before acting. After [Gift of Prophecy] is casted, he will cast another [Starlight].
At 75%, he will add [Orbit] to his attack list. This is a knockback spell, simple. Though if a player remains on the field two seconds after [Orbit] has cast, they will be KO’d instantly by the actual spell itself - players must jump off of the ledges to dodge the spell before it hits (but only after the knockback, however, they may be knocked off the edge by it safely).
Orbit Speech Notification: “I will turn your skies upside-down.”
At 50%, he will add [Turn of the Earth] to his attack list. This spell targets two random players with beacons of light, giving them the “Night” or “Day” debuff - all other players receive either a “Dawn” or “Dusk” debuff. One “Dawn” player must stack with the “Night” player, and one “Dusk” player must stack with the “Day” player. All other players must spread out to avoid doubling up damages. If no one is stacked on either the “Night” or “Day” players, they will be KO’d instantly. If the wrong players stack with the “Night” or “Day” players (i.e. a “Dawn” player stacks with “Day”, or a “Dusk” player stacks with “Night”), all players involved will have 40% of their total HP done in damage. Myrrdyn will only use [Turn of the Earth] twice per battle, and will stop using it before then if his HP reaches 40%.
At 25%, he will use [Celestial Call] to bring down four “Heaven’s Pillar”s. Each pillar will start casting [Fates Weaving], an ability that will heal Myrddyn 5% of his total HP with each cast. Destroying these pillars will cause them to burst, dealing massive group-wide damage; each must be defeated sparingly - either taking down the boss with heavy DPS, or planning on taking them out slowly while healing in between.
At 10%, Myrrdyn will turn desperate and add [Wild Fates] to his attack pool. [Wild Fates] will not only bring the Limit Break bar down to zero, but start dealing heavy continuous damage to the main and/or off tanks. This damage can only be reduced if the tanks turn off their stances and allow a DPS or Healer to take aggro in their stead.
If Myrddyn enrages, he will continuously cast [Myriad of Stars] in one second increments, as well as be buffed with [Prophetic Dreams]; a buff that increases magical damage done, and reduces damage taken significantly.
Enrage Speech Notification: “It is useless, useless, useless! I will NOT allow you to change MY fate! I control it, only I!” Phase Two Party Wipe: “It was useless to attempt changing your fate... but at least... you tried your best.”
Upon Defeat: “How...? I... I can... see everything... can I not?”
With the primal expelled from him, Caromont falls unconsious - his appearance returning to normal. Anyone can change their fate, and you did today.
#junelezen#deity#about: Caromont Allard#i had a lot of fun doing this#my original plan for the meme itself was for maximiloix and lothaire#kinda do the eden ifrit and garuda thing#but getting that picture would've been a hassle#so i chose caromont instead#because he'd make a terrifying primal or just god in general#also have ideas for how an EX would go#which would be *hell*#but i personally could see it being fun lol

Sorry for the late answer! I was planning to draw these out but kinda lost motivation hehe
═══════*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═══════
5: who's the character you want so so bad
*slams hands on the table* MOTHER FUCKING KLEE-
I don't care if she's regarded as being a squishy dps or a slow catalyst user or needing a higher skill cap to play I JUST WANT HER SO BAD. I'm f2p but I am r e a d y to whale just for her. I started the game right on 1.1 so I JUST missed her banner ;w; pls rerun her. I need more pyro dpses for abyss sorry hu tao but I'm saving for venti TTvTT
═══════*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═══════
7:Who's your least favourite character
Ok let's get this straight, I don't want hate but uh I don't like Lisa. Character wise I love her but gameplay wise I- her e skill just doesn't mix well with my play style. I blame myself for not knowing how to play her right but whenever I use her she 1.) Always gets interrupted 2.) Her normal attacks do be kinda slow sometimes (but that could just be me not used to how catalysts attack) and 3.) She just doesn't fit my playstyle well
Notable mention is Diluc since his attacks, while it fits into my hack and slash type of playstyle, are kinda boring... I KNOW I SIMP FOR HIM BUT GOD HIS PLAYSTYLE GETS SUPER BORING ;V;
═══════*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═══════
13: Favourite Enemy
Kinda boring but I really like hilichurls 😔 Albedo wipes them out so fast and it makes me feel so powerful in my world. If we're talking about bosses then I really like the Anemo hypothasis and the Cube bosses are also really fun to bully I hate the geo cube tho
Notable mention is childe for the fact that I can bully him to a degree but once i loose my focus I get 1 shotted to death by him
═══════*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═══════
22: Favourite character design and the least one?
Ok honestly I love everyone's design and I think they're all so pretty and fitting. They're all so aesthetically pleasing to look at and it's hard to choose.
But if I had to I'd say that
1. Ganyu
2. Fischl
3. Lisa
4. Aether
5. Barbara
I don't really dislike any of the designs tbh since everyone there is so prettyyyyy
═══════*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═══════
Also update: I have a new blog for genshin! It's at @traveler-from-nowhere and I kinda just post stuff there that I draw or just random genshin stuff I encountered. Probs gonna be oc focused too(?)

Primal OC Challenge:
Name: Shi’on, Fang of the Dusk Mother
Appearance: In her primal state, four ebon wings break from the flesh of her back, her weapon even transforms under the will of her now unbound aether. Her power now overflowing from the power of the Dusk Mother, and the death magic she wields, she seeks to cast judgement upon those who dared defy the fate delivered upon to them.
Transformation Requirements: Much like Ysayle, Shi’on channels the power [and aether] of Nhaama within her body, emboldening her already potent magic. These conditions can only be met when she is among a small army’s worth of recently deceased. Sacrificing the souls of the departed around her, and offering her body as a vessel for her deity, she draws the souls of the remaining living beings around her, casting them to be judged, leaving them to either be spared their fate, or to die at her hand.
Battle Music: The Truth Beneath the Rose - Within Temptation
Starting Battle Quote: “Care to test your fate? Very well, I will show no mercy.”
DPS Check: “Now comes time for me to cast my Judgement...”
Party Loss: “Your souls have been tainted beyond saving... you shall never know salvation.”
Primal Losing Quote: “Dusk Mother... forgive me... I have failed you...”
Loot Table:
Ash’ah, Scale of the Father [Two-Handed Staff]: Shi’on’s prized weapon. Though it was used in many rituals in channeling the spirits of the departed, it had been warped into a cruel weapon that cast judgement onto the souls of the dying, damning them to a cursed fate. The scales of her father have been ground and melded within the staff, evident by the shining black streaking in the metals. [THM BLK CON WHM]
Soul of the Seer [Soul Gem]: Within this gem, the power of the Speaker of the Dead remains within, empowering it’s wielder with the same magic and powers that the au’ri seer was blessed, and cursed, with. Unlocks the Limited Job, Sorcerer
Borrowed From: @windup-dragoon @maiden-born-in-snow and others [I know it’s not as good but I thought Shi’on would fit the primal thing a bit better than my other OC’s ;-;]
Tagging: Anyone who sees this who hasn’t done it yet [Feel free to tag me if you do it!]

PRIMAL WoL OC CHALLENGE || Orrin Lyuhe
Trial Name: The Bamboo Moor
Boss Name: Mazu
Quest Overview: There is a myth in Othard that, should you ever find yourself in peril out at sea, you can call out to the goddess Mazu and she will race across the waves to come to your aid. Naturally, being from the region, Orrin has cried to the goddess for salvation when your boat threatened to capsize. Unfortunately for you, in his panic he has forgotten about the massive quantity of aether crystals you just stole from one of the beast tribes, and had been currently ferrying across the sea. Using Orrin’s body as a vessel, Mazu has taken form and seen your ship out of stormy waters. While you are now safe from the raging sea, you now instead face the resulting threat of a primal, who will not only bleed the land’s aether dry but is currently taking over the body of your paladin companion. It falls to you and your moored adventurer comrades to defeat Mazu (and hopefully bring Orrin back), but it doesn’t seem the goddess is taking kindly to her favor being repaid with steel…
Battle Music: The Gods Duel (Phase 1) || Jianghu Dream (Phase 2)
Appearance: While Mazu is traditionally depicted as female, she is currently being channeled through Orrin, and thus has assumed a male form. Aside from growing in size, Orrin’s armor has also become more ornate, with long trailing tails and ribbons that constantly wave and flow as if he were underwater. Cì Tóng becomes so long it’s nearly a greatsword, and Orrin gains a shield modeled after an ornate mirror. His eyes are completely hidden by the shine of his glasses, and trying to angle yourself so that you can see behind them only results in a blinding light. When Mazu speaks, Orrin’s voice takes on an unnatural, echoing quality.
Start of Battle Quote: "You call me for help, and you repay the favor with steel? Have mortals become so ungrateful?”
Battle Overview: Similar to Susano, Mazu!Orrin is fought in two stages, with a DPS Check in between them. He’s a bit of a nightmare to deal with, considering his high defense and crazy health pool, but well coordinated attacks and reactions can smash through his defenses and grant moments of opportunity. The majority of this fight involves a lot of AoE dodging and countering.
First phase: “You wish to trade steel? Then have at me!”
Mazu’s first phase sees the boss with a buff active that raises defense significantly [Buff: Mirror Shield]. Being a goddess of the sea, Mazu uses Orrin to channel waves to knock the party around the arena [Away with the Tide], similar to Seiryu’s fight. Mazu also has a few AoEs that target two of the four DPS and causes AoE bursts that trail after them for three hits, with the last one leaving an AoE puddle on the arena. These should be dragged away from the party, for stepping in the puddle left behind causes Drowning (pulls players into the floor for a KO if not exited in time).
There is also a cast [Undertow] where Mazu!Orrin raises his shield and plants an AoE in a cone in front of him. Should players not get out of it in time, it draws anyone trapped in it towards Orrin’s shield, only for him to knock them back once more for significant damage. Arm’s Length/Surecast cannot prevent this draw-in or knockback.
Unlike most primals, Orrin has one interruptible cast [Arms Up] that, when interrupted, grants a five second debuff [Moment of Opportunity] that causes him to take more damage. Should this cast not be interrupted, he instead gains a ten second buff [Steel Armor] that raises his defenses.
DPS Check: "Your steel will not reach me!”
At about 70% health remaining, Mazu raises the shield and begins channeling energy into the sword, shown in a meter counting from 1 to 100. During this time, the party needs to hammer on the shield, with the tanks pulling away tethered squalls and gales to keep the DPS from being knocked backwards.
Once the shield breaks, Mazu will take whatever power is in the meter and unleash a raid-wide attack by bringing the now powered Cì Tóng down on the party’s heads [Capsize]. Healers and tanks should both heal/mitigate through this phase in order to guarantee party survival. At 100%, this is an instant wipe.
Entering Second Phase: “Your persistence is admirable, but I will not fall so easily!”
Now without a shield, Mazu!Orrin’s defenses go down significantly; to make up for his, his attacks will hit harder, with Cì Tóng now a two-handed greatsword instead of a one handed weapon [Buff: Jade Blade]. His cleaves [Fury of the Storm] and tankbusters [Comber] become much stronger in this phase, and healers need to take care that their tanks remain topped off. He also has a new cast [Tall-Blossom’s Thorn] that swings Cì Tóng in a circle around him, requiring players to stand out of his range. Being hit with this cast causes Bleeding.
Should the fight drag on long enough, Mazu!Orrin will cast an enrage [Deaf to our Cries]. It has a twenty second cast time, and should the party not bring him down, it will be an instant wipe.
Party Losing to Primal Quote: “Now who will you call for help?”
Primal’s Defeated Quote: “All the people I saved, and I could not save myself...”
As Mazu’s aether dissipates, Orrin returns to normal, and he crumples to the ground in a still heap.

Rusty’s Trivia #1 - “The hells is a Nightkin - and how did it happen?“
aka: oh boy, time for me to delve into his family history
Seems like the research isn’t going too well on his end. A short while ago, I’ve made the page for the bio of Rusty, my Final Fantasy XIV character. Fact is - beyond a bit of personal information and a few RP hooks, I very much deliberately omit backstory from character bios if I can help it. The reason for that being that a) I like people finding things out for themselves and b) there’s way too much I could possibly go into and I am absolute garbage at condensing things. However, as I figured none of this stuff is coming up in RP directly - as there’s no real way he’d ever find out all of it in person - but I still really want to write lore and condense it with already existing lore to give form to my complicated thought processes. Both to share it and to have motivation to get everything down on paper for myself, because dear freakin’ lord. Ultimately, I figured I might as well use Tumblr for doing so. This is going to be a long one, so bear with me.
To first of all explain in detail what these terms are properly - Nightkin are those that have made blood pacts with Voidsent, as well as their descendants, and Voidsent in turn are beings whose souls have been corrupted by astral darkness - a type of aether. That being said, the term Voidsent is apparently attributed by the people of Eorzea to everything that seems like it just couldn’t belong to their world. Astral aether / darkness is aether that causes chaos and is made up of wind, lightning and fire - as opposed to umbral aether / light, which causes stagnation and is made up of Water, earth and ice. Basically, there’s a whole order vs. chaos dichotomy going on - and normally, your soul needs both. Now, Voidsent have so much astral darkness they they might as well be astral darkness, driving them to insanity and giving them an insatiable hunger for living aether in the futile search of reattaining a normal balance of soul. Meaning they can and will eat you. Their home world - the Void - is entirely devoid of living aether, thanks to all of it being in constant flux. Voidsent are basically this verse’s version of demons, which so happens to be the name of one of the many subtypes of them, as well as an alternative way to refer to their species as a whole. The other side of the spectrum - Sin Eaters - can and will also eat you, and they’re the angel equivalent of this verse. Yikes.
The eternal night of the Void. Actually very pretty for a post-apocalyptic hellhole in which no life can survive. Then they get summoned from the Void and people enslave or make pacts with them to attain more power in black magic - meaning astral magic, meaning chaotic magic made to destroy things really hard, judging by the DPS a good Black Mage can do. So far, so good. Unfortunately, a certain whole nation of black mages - Mhach - ended up causing a war and summoning a whole lot of Voidsent to do it. And unlike the Allagans before them, who created the art but had no countermeasures in case things went wrong - and they eventually did - the Mhachi made void magic kind of their big thing. Mhach summoned weaker Voidsent by weakening the fabric between worlds to create a gate. However, to summon stronger Voidsent of their hierarchy, they needed to use corporeal vessels - so the Voidsent that was intended to be summoned could enter their world by means of possessing their body and taking their soul as tribute. Buon appetito! As you might be able to guess, this will be important later. They fought with the nation of white mages - Amdapor - and basically ended up causing the Great Flood because none of them cared enough to actually use water magic. Fittingly, the offensive toolkit of player black mages is fire / ice / lightning, and earth / wind for white mages. Water magic is only part of healing and support abilities, meaning Amdapori white mages forgot to actually heal while they were doing damage. Thus, the Amdapori were shitty white mages. Q.E.D. Seeing as the rampant, uncontrolled use of magic caused an apocalypse, the last few remaining mages of the time banned black and white magic and instead developed red magic in the country their ark ended up in - Ala Mhigo. Red magic uses a balance of both black and white magic and balances it with sword fighting techniques to limit the use of aether - in red magic, aether is only drawn from your own body instead of directly from your surroundings, thus requiring a significantly more efficient design of the discipline instead of “big explosions = big damage” - as is the black mage creed.
Yes, this ark is a real thing. It’s somehow still in decent shape - even after more than 1500 years! However, as we find out in the actual quest line for red mages investigating the Ziggurat in the Peaks, the earliest forms of it experimented with a lot of interesting things. Interesting things such as blood pacts with Voidsent to defy the physical limits of the mages. Clearly the result of some lingering Mhachi influence - and after considering that maybe this is a bit too dangerous, as it will end up with enslaved Voidsent freeing themselves and rampantly devouring everything they can get their hands on, as well as gradually corrupting the souls of your entire bloodline, this was promptly outlawed from the discipline. And this is where Rusty’s family comes into play. The last remnants of his family - who came over from the island nation of Aerslaent because everything there got flooded over - partook in research with blood pacts, thus causing their entire bloodline to be cursed with Voidsent blood. And unless the pacts were to be forcibly severed by using a Mhachi device called the Nullstone - their final solution to Voidsent troubles - the taint doesn’t truly go away, instead staying dormant until any further interference happens. Unfortunately, the Nullstone was still in the Mhachi capital - guarded by the immortal void mage Calofisteri, who is not exactly thrilled to give it up and be at risk to lose her power. To make everything worse, Rusty’s ancestors decided that their Voidsent target of choice was to be one of the highest rung - a Voidsent king they called Ba’al. Meaning they sacrificed one of their own to pull the soul of Ba’al into their body - offering up the soul of said poor person in the process - then took his blood for their research. Ba’al was eventually banished back into the Void - his now completely deformed host body included. Again, yikes. Naturally, they weren’t keen on still sticking around in Ala Mhigo and being witch hunted for good reason and thus eventually went back to their homeland - migrating across the continent Ilsabard, to the Far East, across the New World and then back to Aerslaent. They and their descendants continue to inspire stories of witches and monsters all across the globe. Probably.
No. Not you, Rusty. Try and act scary all you like. Rusty Axe is just another descendant of that family of black mages, born in Ala Mhigo more than a millenium and a half after the Great Flood - his father having previously left said family in Aerslaent and traveled the continent of Eorzea as a warrior mercenary. As to what happened next - that’ll be explained once I decide to do Trivia #2. Which may be whenever I get enough inspiration. Stay tuned! If you seriously just read this entire essay on this entirely fictional science and history and how it ties into my OC lore-wise, kudos to you. Seriously.
