It’s hard enough to plan a vacation around such busy schedules. Toshinori had always felt guilty about taking breaks as All Might, and Naomasa didn’t know the meaning of leaving a case unfinished. So, after his official retirement as a pro hero and his first ever winter break as a teacher he decided to make the most of it.

Or, so he thought. 

Naomasa was glued to a stack of ‘take home files’ the entire trip up to Hokkaido. No amount of oohs and ahhs could get him to look up for more than a few seconds, so he missed most of the gentle snowfall right outside their car rental window. By the time they reached the couple’s cabin, Toshinori had to push their luggage towards his husband and order him inside before the sun set and they caught a cold.

The inside was quaint and roomy, the building made in a traditional Japanese style. He’d picked it over the popular western style cabins, even though it meant they would be further away from the ski slopes. Toshinori laughed to himself. He couldn’t imagine Naomasa on skis. Or even out in the snow! At best he could try to get them out on a skating rink.

Looking around, he took note of the amenities. There was supposed to be a private hot spring connected to the bathroom, and he could see a kitchenette built to one side of the living area. “Once the snow stops tomorrow, we can get groceries and look around town”, Toshinori suggested, taking off his scarf. 

“Good, because I’m ready to pass out.” Naomasa finished unpacking, then took care in setting up the futon. It seemed his papers were momentarily forgotten, much to Toshinori’s delight.

The next morning he woke up to soft muttering and a few familiar English curses. The sounds would cut off as if someone were trying to be considerate of the noise, but they continued after a short pause. Toshinori recognized the shuffling and huffs of exasperation, so despite being comfortable and warm, he rolled out of the covers with a grunt.

“Masa, what are you doing??” Toshinori blinked, perplexed. 

Naomasa jumped back from the front door, blushing like a child. Gesturing to the opening, Toshinori could see that there was snow piled at least a meter and a half high. “I thought I could dig some of it away,” He tried to explain, kicking at the snow that had fallen inside. 

“With your hands?” Toshinori countered. He tried to sound stern but Naomasa looked too embarrassed for him to stay serious. Instead, he patted the space next to him, inviting his husband over. “Come here you goof. Quit trying to work so much.” 

The detective eagerly complied, kneeling down with a sigh. “Sorry. This is our time together and I’m still distracted. I called the resort and the roads are going to get cleared by this afternoon, so we’re stuck for a few hours.” He smiled and wrapped his arms around Toshinori, breathing in the still-warm scent of his hair. “You have my undivided attention.”

Toshinori leaned in close, humming when he felt Naomasa’s hands fiddling with the hem of his night shirt. Being snowed in wasn’t the worst thing that could happen. With the promise of time alone, he let his imagination drift off to more exciting… 

Shit!

Toshinori squirmed, Naomasa’s freezing hands flat on his back. It was bitterly cold (and worse, wet!) from the snow. “You’re terrible! I’m taking back a year’s worth of love.” 

Naomasa laughed and tightened his embrace before letting go. It wasn’t as if Toshinori was serious, but he still leaned back with a glint in his eyes. “You know, I packed some cocoa. …How much love do I get back if I make us some?”

Making a show, Toshinori pretended to think hard before he quipped “At least two months.” He grinned when his husband took the bait, ensuring the debt would be paid before holiday’s end.
