Fixing @ar_institute_fr 's #AMSNeve #DMX1580S not booting up at all 😥(cont') . First pic shows this section of the board as I discovered it: the replacement battery is not if the correct power value, and some of the original components next to it still clearly present corroded solder joints from the old battery leakage... Not to mention that the - leg of the replaced battery has been somewhat badly soldered: the lower part of the photo shows that the pad has not been completely cleared off of corrosion prior to soldering. That's why the solder joint doesn't cover the entire pad as well as its shape looks more like a "ball" instead of a small "volcano", leading to fragile mechanical and electrical links 👎 . Second pic shows the same section of the Processor Board after replacement of the above mentioned components: battery is now the correct, 150 mA/h type, nearby resistors, transistors and capacitor are new (as well as their solder joints), and the three pads of the battery have been completely cleaned before being soldered so that their joints are... well, approaching perfection, aren't they? ☺️☺️☺️ . All of this work now ensures that the reset circuitry works fine at each start-up (previously, the CPU would restart itself randomly, or even show a blinking start-up screen, being permanently reset/started/reset/ etc.). . NB: yeah, in the two previous posts about this unit I wrote that it didn't start-up at all. First researches have shown that the SMPS section is almost surely faulty ☹️ . Now that the Reset/Memory Protect circuitry has been completely replaced, especially this dead C3V9 Zener diode (on the center picture), this electronic section finally functions as expected... . ...and then can the CPU boot up correctly, at last!!! 😊😊😊👌👌👌👍👍👍 . . . Another dead #AMS #RMX16 just arrived at the workshop . On power up, screen stays blank and all front panel LEDs stay lit: typical CPU boot-up issue 😔 . After removing the upper lid, a close inspection of the Processor board reveals what might probably be the cause of the fault: battery was replaced, for sure, but not up to my repair standards... for sure, too! 👎 . "simply" by putting almost all ribbon cables' connectors back into their CORRECT, corresponding places inside the Harmoniser section!!!! Previous repair tech had missed all that up, hence the strange behavior of the audio path in my last insta video. . Didn't notice that at first glance because not only did I focus on the PSU ripple issue, but also because there are so many ribbons that are interconnected that it's not necessarily obvious to see if they're rightfully located... . Fixing @ar_institute_fr 's #AMSNeve #DMX1580S not booting up at all 😥(cont') . WELL WELL WELL!!! DMX is starting up again, at last!!! Now that I've replaced the original, probably tired power MOSFET transistor of the SMPS board, +5V rail is finally back to normal, so the CPU can boot up correctly! 😊☺️👌👍 (see more detailed, next insta post, BTW) .
