Cette année, je renonce à faire mon Best 9 : lorsqu’on a organisé des concours, tout est faussé. Alors, pour clôturer l’année, je vous propose de jouer un peu. Si vous pensez que les danseurs ont l’égo surdimensionné à force de se regarder dans le miroir, sachez que la réalité est tout inverse : on ne voit que ses défauts (d’où le désespoir que j’incarne en photo 1). Saurez-vous retrouver ce qui cloche dans les photos 2, 3 et 4 ? Je publierai les meilleures réponses en story. P.S. : en vrai, sur la photo 1, je ne suis pas contrite, j’agonise. After two months of not doing much of anything, I've finally been inspired by @officialsierraboggess, @kellymorrisrowan, @nicennerdy_cosplay, @peggyssweetangel, & others posting their workout progress, etc to finally do some things! My dance studio started a month-long Zoom class this week so I took the Teen/Adult Ballet class on Monday & this evening I followed @ballerinasbynight's Basic Ballet Barre video on YouTube. 💖 * * (Yes, I'm wearing legwarmers over leggings. I spent a lot of my childhood in the ballet studio, at great expense (and lots of driving!) for my mom. I funneled all my teenage angst and awkwardness into ballet. Once I made my way into adulthood, I pretty much stopped dancing except for a very occasional class-sometimes years apart. Flash forward, 2 kids and over 20 years later... my son wanted to take tap dance lessons. After a couple of years of him taking lessons, I asked the teacher if I could join in. And then I went to a beginner ballet class. When my body could do something, it felt so right. BUT my body shocked me by NOT being able to do things that used to come so easily to me. After finding an amazing teacher and studio- @berkshirepulse , a great fellow adult ballet buddy, and making time for it, I’m now going BACK on pointe! I dug a pile of old shoes out of the attic, and went to @saratogadance for new pointe shoes. The owner spent an hour helping me find what works for my older (and wider!) feet. Classes have started back up! (oh and happy new year guys!!)

Sorry about the intense spam today. And for the intense silence before that... I just got back to my ballet classes this week and therefore remembered that I have a blog! Hope you have all been enjoying the holidays and are off to a great new year. I’m so happy to have heard from so many that they are wanting to start ballet! It is so much fun, you won’t regret it guys!!

As for me.. I will continue to take 7 classes (possibly more, but probably not) this semester as well, but I have changed some of the classes somewhat. I’m now dancing five days a week, which is exciting! 

Two of the classes I’m taking are quite challenging, and clever me can’t just wait until summer to up the difficulty, so I start after everyone has already learned how to do their attitude pirouettes, entrechats and god knows what else. This is going to be fun.

And hopefully you guys can forgive my absence if you get to read about my embarrassing pirouette story... Sooo.. STORY TIME. Over the break I suddenly realized I should practice my pirouettes a bit (and of course in the middle of the night) so I wouldn’t forget how to do them. So obviously I did so with socks on slippery wooden floor and fell. And not like a cute little slip, no. I completely lost my balance and fell on a ladder. Did I wake up the whole house? Probably. But they were too nice to say. Or just too used to my (sometimes concerning) night dancing noises. My poor back took the worst of the fall (how I managed to fall on my back from a pirouette is still a bit of a mystery to me), but hopefully no permanent damage has been caused. After this week my whole body hurts anyways so no way to tell.

Last night in tango class, I was continually corrected by my teachers. I don't know if it was the week long holiday break, but they were relentless and I was overwhelmed. My number one correction "too tense shoulders." Why! Why? Not again? Noooooo. I've been working so hard on this. Gahhhh!
