Things on Muu's mind today that are simple enough that where they fall on the list has no relevance:
If not for the grueling practice regimes and history of inappropriate coaches, he does wonder if his family ever entertained the possibility of enrolling him in gymnastics due to his limited projected height and his nimbless. Granted, he does quickly consider the fact that there would've been no guarantee he'd have even excelled in it being that adolescent him had a tendency to quit every program he begged to be in as he did NOT mesh well with authority figures. There does happen to be a very affordable eight week class program for beginner adult gymnastics being offered within an accessible region of the downtown area that he is considering signing himself up for while there is still space for him to do so, but we'll see. He has to really consider his weekly schedule as is to see if he can squeeze in an hour on Wednesday starting quite literally on November 1st by midday to today before he otherwise impulsively dedicates himself to something that might require him to go without something else. He needs all the things, or else he'll scream.
If he does go forward with the gymnastics classes, he'll get to be dotted on by the ladies in the class. He's always down to be dotted on by the ladies. He's already expecting that he'd be the only male in the room, which he's more praying on than the opposite. To have an additional man there would just make him anxious of nonexistent competition to make sure he's learning exactly at the same pace as them, if not faster. Then again, I worry that he is expecting these courses to be as jolly good fun as toddler gymboree classes look, and that finding out such isn't true on day one will simply act as a then eight week prison sentence of disappointment.
This one is very unrelated, but I'm finding it amusing that Muu most genuinely enjoys fictional characters such as the minions and SpongeBob. He is vaguely aware that such like can be contributed to seeing himself in said characters; however, he's also just open to admitting that he just finds the different yellow little guys to be equally as cute and entertaining to him as the other. He'd most like to notify people that he's already put in his card information just earlier today into the Squishable website as a means of securing himself this adorable friend. It may not have been a price he could say he enjoyed paying; yet, even so, who was he to turn down his opportunity to own what will be a wonderfully cute addition to the plush pile that resides atop his loft style bunk bed situated in his room. And, no, guests are NOT allowed to sleep in that bed when they stay the night at his home. That bed belongs to the stuffed animals, and they do not like to share. It is by VIP invite only, and unfortunately the only name in their list is Muu's.

And honestly, even if you are too old and it is too late, do just because you know you’ll like it.
For example, I’ve taken an adult gymnastics course as well as a beginners adult ballet class in the past. Realistically speaking I’m not ever going to make it in a career in ballet or as a professional gymnast. I started too late. I am too old. everyone else in the class with me was in the same boat as I was, but that actually made it fun. There was no pressure to compete or win a scholarship. The vibe of these classes were, ‘let’s exercise, have fun, and learn some cool tricks with our bodies.’ I’m so glad I did it.

so i always wanted to play the double bass as a kid, and while i was really privileged growing up (i took piano and voice lessons and guitar too all on my parents' dime because we can afford it), the double bass is such a niche instrument that it wasn't in the cards for me
and now that im an adult in a big american city with my own money, i have started learning it, and its great!!! but also now I'm thinking about all the people whose dreams as a kid were much more physical things and how, if you didnt have the resources to do it then, your window is closed now
like. there's an influencer i follow who picked up ballet at 30, and she's just about started to go en pointe, and it's wonderful! but there's just not the same amount of casual & semi-pro opportunities for adult beginner ballet students the way there are for double bass. i've also always dreamed of doing pole vaulting (even before ej obiena got real big), and i remember at 15 googling how to get into that, and EVERYTHING being like "yeah thats too late". id imagine gymnastics as well! like, where the hell can i find a pole vault or olympic wrestling gym where i can start out in my 30s??
and also. even though i started late, i have like 50 more years of my life to learn and refine my instrument-playing skills. even if you can find a gym that'll take a 30-year old beginner and teach them, how long can a body actually do those stuff?? like maybe 20 more years??
anyway. im just very thankful that i have a bunch of resources now to pursue my passion, and also that my passion happens to be very old-people friendly

Sorry to self-reblog, but it needs to be said. Some of us in our 30s or older literally had someone push the pause button on our social/emotional growth when we were kids and didn't let up until we were well into adulthood - and then damn, there was some catching up to do.
Some of us go through adolescence a decade too late, and we live our 20s in our 30s and, and we're just perpetually out of phase due to the social/emotional equivalent of a temporal grenade getting detonated inside our skulls and souls a year or a decade or a lifetime ago. It can freeze us in place, or completely disorient us (we hurt ourselves in our confusion), or the blast radius can shove us flying back and make us actively regress.
We're working on it. Please let us grow. If it means we go through our fashion disaster emo phase in our 20s and date total jerks in our 30s, let us learn. If it means we're some flavor of queer but never had the chance to explore it before, then let us explore it now. If it means there's an adult beginner in your gymnastics or ballet class, or you see someone wearing something playful and fun and think "he/she is too old to be wearing that" - mind your damn biz and move TF on.
Let us all pray we get to live in a world where the worst anyone wants to do is write emo blog posts, wear tacky clothes, and take ballet.
You know what people don’t talk about often enough? Playing catch up in life after spending your teens or early 20s suicidally depressed. There’s so many more layers than just being able to say “I don’t want to die anymore.”
The difficulty in academia or a career after spending years thinking you wouldn’t be alive long enough for any of it to matter.
The exhaustion that comes from self awareness and self soothing, with the constant voice in your head saying “don’t go backwards.”
How lonely it is to watch the people your age starting families when you’re just barely learning what stable relationships are, and the sudden societal pressure of being “up against a clock” for these kinds of things.
The judgement from others if you change your image or interests this late in the game just because you finally figured out who you really are under the demons.
Be kind to those who are developing and blooming after years of not planning on being here long. We are living a life we absolutely didn’t think we’d have, and it’s hard enough without society reminding us there’s expectations of our age.
We didn’t get to be young; we were too busy fighting battles few know.

I generally enjoy physical activity, but I would rather shoot myself in both feet than run on a treadmill. But you know what I always wanted to do as a kid? Gymnastics and acrobatics. So I found a gym that offered beginner classes and got started. Now I look forward the days I have classes because I have such fun! I don't even notice the exercise part of it until I'm sore the next day.
If you need/want to exercise but are like me and would rather die than go to a typical gym to run or elliptical or whatever, pick something you like/want to learn how to do and fucking do it! Adults also should be having fun! Life isn't really about making making yourself miserable to look "good" or "fit", it's about using the time that you have to enjoy yourself.
more people would exercise if this culture didn't make it absolute hell
